Thereā€™s something so poetic and heartbreaking about Mary not wanting to hurt her mother. Itā€™s not out of pity or wanting to ease the strain of the divorce itā€™s just purely a daughterā€™s love for her mother whoā€™s always been there. Her mother who has never tried to make Mary feel outcasted or othered or unloved.
Even when Mary KNOWS that something is wrong in her bones, she cannot force herself to do anything but trail after her mother and try and make her proud even if what sheā€™s doing could get her hurt. She loves her mom. And it sucks that the last she saw of her was her mother trying to kill her.
Mary, you will always be famous, my little dart frog

The thing about Episode 7, Jayvik and Timebomb
We like to joke about the whiplash from constantly shifting between Ekko's visit in paradise and Jayce's suffering, but....
I actually have to put the shipping googles back on for this one.
When Ekko and Jayce meet, Timebomb and Jayvik have basically been torpedoed. Ekko almost killed Jinx last season, and only hesitated at the last moment. He spent so much time telling himself Powder is dead and Jinx killed her, but now he is no longer so sure. Jayce meanwhile kept drifting away from Viktor and every time he thought he would bring them back together, he would fumble, last time they meet he was yelling, unable to understand why Viktor given up on him, as if Jayce haven't broken every promise he made to him by not destorying the hexcore and by weaponizing hextech. Ships aren't completely sunk, but they're gaining water fast.
And then the Wild Rune sent Jayce and Ekko to different worlds. Ekko gets the world that could have been, Jayce gets one that may be.
Ekko's life in a near-utopian version of Zaun quickly focuses on him falling in love with Powder that could have been. And why wouldn't he fall in love with her? Shems a genius, she's funny, she's creative...but I think with time he realizes that all these things can still be found in Jinx. He realizes Jinx didn't kill Powder, Jinx is Powder lashing out in pain.
And yet, this Powder is not free of pain either. It's different pain, that he actually stupidly pokes early on. Pain caused by different trauma, which she got to deal with, while having a better support network, but sitll present (I have seen somewhere a good argument she shows signs of depression, but forgot where). It's not that she deals with her pain better than Jinx, it's just different. And I see with time Ekko realizes that and realizes how wrong it would be to give up on Jinx, that the same person he loves is in her world, but she has no one to be for her what this Powder has in her Ekko, Mylo, Claggor, Vander and Silco (that last one is an assumption on my part, it's unclear how close he is with Powder in this world, but considering he apparently co-runs the bar with Vander, he has to be present in her life in some way). When Ekko decides to come back, he isn't doing it only because it would be unfair to Ekko of this timeline and to Powder and everyone who loves that Ekko. He also does it because he realzied what an asshole he'd be to give up on Jinx.
And remember, he has no fucking idea about the seven hells of bullshit that went down in his world when he was absent. He doesn't know about martial law, about Warwick, about Viktor, about Noxus. He's coming back expecting to deal with his tree being sick and Chem-Barons war.
Now let's look what Jayce goes through. He gets sent to hell where his dream goes horribly wrong, yes. But what quickly happens to him? He breaks his leg falling down the chasm. He ends at the very bottom of where Piltover used to be. Correction, where Zaun used to be. The enviroment is slowly poisoning him. He is forced to fight every second to survive. Poisoned by enviroment, limping, forced to use leg splint and a staff as a crutch. Sounds familiar? Moreover, he is then forced to climb his way from the bottom all the way to the highest tower of Piltover. I'm surprised more people aren't talking about this, the metaphor is laid down pretty thick. Jayce gets crash course version of Viktor's life, he is literally forced to walk miles after miles in his shoes. They even made his leg splint look like one League of Legends' Viktor had until 2024.
he never really could understand where Viktor is coming from, even at his lowest he still was a minor noble house, he still lived in good part of the town. And sure, he and Viktor became close, but then Jayce got seduced by the fame, by glamour, by being man of progress, by being savior of the future, by cushy council seat. Power makes it hard to see evil, and privledge makes you blind to human the suffering. This experience was eye-opening to Jayce. I wonder how many times he must have stopped himself and realize this is what Viktor goes through on daily basis. And, as we learned later, after Jayce climbed this way to the top of hell, he saw how much HE means to Viktor, how HE is the only person who can give Viktor hope and save him from his own internalized ableism. He goes back to save the world, but he also goes back to save Viktor.
These stories weren't paired jsut to fuck with us, they're pararells. Jayce and Ekko both were blinded, one by glamour, the other by hardship, they could no longer see real Viktor and Jinx, too wrapped up in the people the world forced them to become. Each one was forcefully stripped from his ideantity, and therefore his biases, and forced to actually SEE the person they love, not the false image they built, but real them. And then each one went back and each one reached to their respective love and save them. And jsut like Ekko went back in time over and over to make Jinx see he's there for her even if she hates herself, Jayce was willing to sacrifice it all to show Viktor he doesn't need to be perfect to be loved, because for Jayce he always was beautiful.
And I could probably write a whole separate essay about how this theme of tearing through your own bullshit and actually SEEING the other person is present in this season. How Jinx and Vi are forced to go through microcosm of each other's experience to rebuild their love. How Caitlyn is saved from her own descent into villainy by being forced to see how much pain she caused Vi, see a human in Warwick, see a wounded child in woman who killed her mother. How Vi stops her self-destruction by trusting Jinx and seeing Vander in Warwick. How Mel literally has to fight Illusionary Sorceres, a.k.a. LeBlac THE DECEIVER and defeats her with words "I see you". How Ambessa is the only person who doesn't go through this identity destruction this season, even i nthe opening proudly wearing red of Noxus, and that's why she fails. How Maddie being a spy is telegraphed from her first appearance, where she's blocking the sun, effectively obscuring Vi's vision and making herself harder to be seen. How Jinx and Sevika are forced to see people in one another now that Silco's gone. How even during sesbian lex Vi doesn't let Cait get bogged down in guilt because she sees the woman she loves and that's all that matters. How Ekko defeats Viktor by showing him he's wrong to think only he can achieve power of Wild Rune, but also by literally tearing off the mask of god from his eyes, so that Viktor can SEE Jayce again.
But it's 4 in the morning as I type this and I'm no longer being coherent. Episode 7 is literally the microcosm of the whole season and Ekko and Jayce go through the same character arc in it.

maybe if i just put these screenshots together youll understand why i think their relationship just Works so well as it pertains to the characters and themes of S4 in general
neither of them know what theyre doing, but theyre figuring it out Together. the old ways are dead. and together theyll build a new future thats worth fighting for
#twdg#violentine#clems ā€œi dont knowā€ paired with violets ā€œlets figure it out togetherā€. screaming crying throwing up#clem never knew what she was doing!! she was just trying her best!! and now shes tired as SHIT!!! she wants a break šŸ˜!!!#vi helps take that weight off by supporting her as much as she does (which is A LOT!! and clem supports her in return. they grow together)#that bit in the woods where instead of getting grossed out by the guts vi crouches down to ajs level and keeps the situation calm#and she looks up to clem and gives her a little smile. and clem just relaxes and smiles back !! DO YOU UNDERSTAND !!!#clem being anxious about her reaction. violet putting her at ease. clem getting to Relax for 2 seconds. they help each other CHILL šŸ˜#ALSO why their walk home talking about ericson and renaming it and imagining what they could add to it is just so good narratively#they turned that prison into their HOME!! a place worth fighting for!!!#tenn wanting to help rebuild. vi saying Everyone will :') its a home for ALL OF THEM šŸ˜ its about the COMMUNITY !!!#this is also why i think the friends route still works but theres just even more Juice with the romance. even ignoring minnie#violets ā€œyou better not disappear on meā€. friended clems ā€œokā€ to romanced clems ā€œi promiseā€#in a season about building a home and a family that second one just hits harder you know? and like above with the learning to dance#i just feel like their romantic relationship specifically fits into the overall themes of the game the strongest and elevates it#me talking at the wall (tumblr drafts)#all of my friends who have played twdg are too normie so i gotta make posts like this instead. or i'll die#wont somebody analyze narrative with me#it speaks

Hot take: but maybe it would have been better in the show if in Daemon's most recent vision within Harrenhal it was Aemma he was with over Alyssa.
I have seen both sides of the argument here for and against Daemon's scene with Alyssa. But overall I still get a sense of disgust and question wtf the writers were on when they made that scene with Alyssa and Daemon. If you like the scene, great, more power to you. But overall a good majority of people were revolted by this scene. And I think that if they had replaced Alyssa with Aemma, the scene still would have the same effect, just in a different narrative.
Let's go with the theory that Alys is attempting to use the visions Daemon has as a means of building him up as King. Making him think he should have had what Viserys did, because he was better. Ultimately her goal for this theory is drive Daemon mad and make him think he would make a better ruler over Rhaenyra, thus turning him against her.
Let's begin with a breakdown of this vision. Daemon is committing incest and sexual acts with Alyssa, while she praises Daemon. Here is what all she says to Daemon: "Daemon. Daemon. You were always the strong one. The finest swordsman... the fearless dragonrider. Your brother had great love in his heart... but he lacked your constitution. Viserys was unsuited for the crown... but you... Daemon, you were made to wear it. If only you'd been born first. My favorite son." This dialogue is reminiscent to what Viserys tells Daemon in season 1 episode 4. Daemon was their mother's favorite. He had that in regard above Viserys.
But, why need to showcase him having sex with his mother just for this? The scene could work just as well if you replace Alyssa with Aemma, and it feels so less revolting if it had been Aemma. The reason Aemma would work just as well in this scene is because she is also the representation of what Daemon never had but Viserys did: -A loving wife and Queen with him as King -Their daughter, Rhaenyra, who Daemon clearly favors
-A stable marriage and the appearance of a good life (despite Viserys' actions against Aemma regarding childbirth and her death)
Aemma could have been the Queen Daemon could have gotten if represented in this vision over Alyssa. She could have been implemented as a way of saying- "See? You could have had all that your brother did and more if you had only been born first or made King over Viserys. You should be the one to rule, and Aemma should have been your queen, not Viserys'."
Daemon was stuck in an unhappy, loveless and childless marriage when Viserys was with Aemma. She could have been shown in this vision as a "what Daemon could have if he was King" over what he had been (or what he felt he had been) burdened with. Aemma also possessed Targaryen blood despite also being an Arryn, and has the Targaryen look in the show. She also could have been another known face Alys uses against Daemon to weaponize him against Rhaenyra (like how he saw young!Rhaenyra and Laena).
The dialogue Alyssa says in the show could also be rearranged to fit Aemma: "Daemon. Daemon. You were always the strong one. The finest swordsman... the fearless dragonrider. Your brother had great love in his heart... but he lacked your constitution. Viserys was unsuited for the crown... but you... Daemon, you were made to wear it. If only you'd been born first. My favorite [one/husband/lover/brother (not incest brother but favored brother out of him and Viserys)]."
Really only one word needed to be changed to fit this. The dialogue overall is neutral before that one word 'son' comes into play (fucking nasty). They wouldn't even need to change the blood that was on Alyssa for Aemma either. Aemma had died in childbirth, as Alyssa had, mirroring Daemon's mother's own fate. It still would have had the same effect, which is planting the idea in Daemon's head that he should be King (and should have been made King before Viserys) and manipulating him.
I just feel it would be better if it was Aemma? His mother was a weird take. I get somewhat what the showrunners were trying to do here, as I've said: I've read the arguments and points for Alyssa's implementation into the vision. But it still feels wrong. Targaryen's practiced incest, yes, but never parental x child incest. I get that Daemon never knew his mother but including her into a scene such as that was just... jarring and did not leave the taste I think the showrunners wished it did. I had liked Daemon's arc within Harrenhal up until that point. It was like a gut-punch and just felt icky in the end. And even MANY had assumed that it was Aemma in the vision over Alyssa, which just proves Aemma could have been a better fit over Daemon's own damn mother in this scene and it still would have been just as effective.
Or... maybe, just maybe- if they really were so damn set on it needing to be Daemon's mother in that vision- they should have done it differently.
Idk maybe have Daemon walk into the Throne Room, and instead of young!Rhae, he sees Alyssa. If it has to be intimate, make her treat him like an actual MOTHER would and not a fucking lover. Daemon missed out on having motherly love and affection -don't fucking come in my comments saying 'but Daemon never had motherly love so it makes sense he sees it as sexual since he views women as sexual blahblahblah' go read the fucking books- so they could have used that scene as a way of showing Daemon something he never got to manipulate him and add in the dialogue and boom, same impact.
It's just fucking gross, all right? I wish it was Aemma. I don't wanna see someone having sex with their MOM on screen. It's gross. Never bring that shit before my eyes again.

Itā€™s tough enough to get through the day while keeping up as much of the old Jamie as he possibly can before heā€™s just ready to collapse into bed and sleep for twelve hours. He just needs everyone to see that heā€™s okay. Maybe somewhere deep down he thinks if they believe it, heā€™ll start believing it. Maybe he just wants to be left alone. He doesnā€™t really know anymore.

ā€œDid you think you were the only person who thought Marbella was a good holiday spot?ā€ Jamie grins. ā€œNah, I talked to Keeley. "Keeley mentioned you had a spare ticket to Marbs. Said I should come and keep you company." "How did you-" "Top bird, that Kathy of yours. She had the tickets changed into my name in no time at all." Or, what happens when Jamie joins Roy for the trip to Marbella.
Underlying Sentiment by nottonyharrison (Rating: Teen and Up | Chapters: 1/1 | Words: 3,195 | Setting: Post-Season 2 Canon Divergence | POV: Jamie | Tropes: Getting Together | Warnings: Minor Homophobia)
Jamieā€™s been sitting in the BA lounge for half an hour when he starts to wonder if itā€™s all a stupid idea. Keeleyā€™s, of course. Jamie had no part in it other than nodding and agreeing that yes, a few weeks of Spanish sun would do him well, and no, no he wouldnā€™t have to see Roy all that much because the villaā€™s huge, and okay heā€™ll let Keeley sort it all out for him, maybe if he could just flick Roy a wee text when he gets there that would be great, yeah? Roy gets some company for the summer. Insert shocked Pikachu.

When Keeley breaks up with Roy after his spontaneous plans to whisk her away to Marbella for the summer, he makes the trip by himself, intent on forgetting about the break up as best he can through as much booze, tapas, and sunshine as one person can manage during one miserable summer. The last thing he expects is for his car to break down during a road trip up the Spanish coast, where he finds none other than Jamie fucking Tartt - who fell off the face of the Earth after his stint on Lust Conquers All - working in a seaside bar. Post-season 2 AU where, after getting kicked off of Lust Conquers All, Jamie decides not to return to England or football.

Okay, sequel to this Ekko post. As promised, this time focusing on the him and the Firelights.
Long and the short: I am thinking is possible something happens to scatter the Firelights. This something is what prompts probabbly the two things we know: Ekko seems to be going to Piltover for something (lets just say it's most likely hextech, or something similar), repeatedly. And the Firelights have been pretty clearly seen among Jinx's supporters.
Now, if or not this is the tree being destroyed, the hideout being attacked, or just general problems with a war going on in Zaun isn't clear but I am thinking SOMETHING happens to the Firelights pritty early on to make them kinda splinter up, prompting Ekko to need to do something about it and some of the Firelights to begin to support Jinx.
Now...I will make clear I don't think Ekko stops leading the Firelights and Jinx begins to. Cause honestly that sounds awful, off character wise for both of them and generally is not good. I think Ekko sees after whatever scatters most of them that he needs to get help, something in Piltover being what he needs to do that (again, probably hextech to power his Z-Drive). Hence, why he and Hiem sneak in and possibly prompts Ekko to return in disguise.
And to assure anyone who is worried: Ekko would also have to reunite and continue leading the Firelights after this because we see him leading a group of them in what looks like the last battle (the one with a lot of Noxus soldiers). So yea, whatever the reason for his absence is, it's temporary and they continue to stand with him.
Thank you all for reading my blocks of text and run on idea here XD.

I have a lot of Thoughts about Delacy.
On detail that stood out to me was that Delacy doesnā€™t have a proper holster for his gun Rooster. This whole time I pictured him having a simple but nice holster that stood out from the straw hat and worn overalls, something that showed he spent what little money he had on his gun or that he got it someone in his home life like his father. But no, itā€™s homemade from scrapes of leather. Delacy left home with only the clothes on his back, his gun, three crumbled dollars, and a holster he made himself and then got on a train for the first time in his life while not even knowing if he needed a ticket to ride. Delacy ran away.
And after it all and he got his $2000, his home life and parents werenā€™t something he was in a rush to get back to. The idea of the group going their separate ways was upsetting to him. While he would like his parents to know if he died, he didnā€™t leave home with the intention of earning money to provide for his family and then returning home. (I would like to note, despite having parents, Delacy doesnā€™t use a last name. Heā€™s only ever just Delacy, whereas all the other members of the posse have full names.)
While he doesnā€™t want to go home to his biological family, Delacy still wants a family and to be cared for. He found that with the posse. In the first episode, Delacy intimidated the saloon owner into giving him a bottle of whiskey, which he then found out tasted awful. In multiple instances after that, he requested whiskey or implied he drank it. But when the group was at the saloon after the bounties were done, he doesnā€™t force himself to drink whiskey because he thinks itā€™s gross and feels like he can acknowledge it aloud. During their adventure at the Worldā€™s Fair, Delacy felt safe enough to act his age with Edie. Heā€™s excited to meet his hero. He takes Edieā€™s word seriously at the hall of oddities and assumes she has all the answers. It didnā€™t occur to him that she might not have all the answers to his questions. In their forced duel, trigger-happy Delacy refused to harm Nate and instead of pulling his gun, he sat down like a kid. He trust that the real Nate wouldnā€™t hurt him and theyā€™d only known each for, what? A week? At Dead Manā€™s Worth, Garnet didnā€™t think Delacy was the kid of kid you could hug, but after the duel Nate picks him up into a hug. When Delacy first met the others, heā€™s putting on a forced act, pretending to be what he thinks an adult is (or acting how an adult in his life actually is, a heavy drinker that solves problems with aggression perhaps), but by the end, he feels safe enough around them and shows much more of his true personality and age.
While he is a bit of a cold killer and hasnā€™t fully developed an understanding of death yet, he still believes in honesty (see threatening a sideshow barker about the hand), justice in a way (people shouldnā€™t be lied to in any way and the hand should be buried with its proper owner) and is rather genuine when he feels like he can be. He was starstruck meeting Billy Joe and delighted to just catch a glimpse of Buckthorn the horse. He likes cotton candy and a gun tricks. He liked that Billy Joe liked cotton candy too (at least as far as he overheard). He didnā€™t even hesitate signing a contract when Billie Joe asked and only changed his mind when Edie reminded him of Nate. He takes what everyone he trusts says at face value (to the point of being ready to shoot someone due to a metaphor).
Delacy is young, naive, a bit dense, and ready to shoot, but he is, at his core, a good kid who just needed adults in his life that will encourage him to find less violent solutions and to act on his kindness in productive ways. Garnet and Nate have helped him learning more about interacting with people. Edie acknowledges his young age but still takes him seriously and trusts him and in the end, she offers him a way to use his shooting skills to help people. She takes him as her monster-hunting apprentice. Even Silas, who barely interacted with Delacy, grew to like the kid enough he would acknowledge Humble Ned (a devious, spindly legged beast, no matter how humble he is) as good people for Delacyā€™s sake.
Delacy might have left the farm with the help-wanted ad seeking adventure and fortune, but I think he found something he needed a lot more.

I'm not gonna lie but that conversation between blitz and stolas in the full moon episode broke me. I feel so bad for stolas when blitz told him about how low he thinks of him. šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜
I'm also anticipating the wait of the next episode in hopes that they can talk it out and for blitz finally being able to give stolas a well earned apology.
Either way we'll just have to wait and let things unravel.
