James’ breath on the side of her neck makes Elisa pause in her thoughts. It’s just the two of them in 2J this afternoon. Everyone else is off doing something or another.

“What are you reading?” He asks, his arms wrapping around her waist and she holds in a breath before exhaling as she speaks. “Romance novel.”

His nose bumps against her skin and she can feel the warmth of his arms through her cardigan. “Never would have pegged you as a romance novel girl.”

“I’m a multitude of a girl.” She tells him, placing her novel down on the counter as she turns around and faces him.

Hazel eyes meet brown, and Elisa’s heart skips a beat as James smiles at her. It’s not the smile he uses for fans, but a genuine one. One full of love and affection.

“Hi.” He says, and her cheeks heat up as she replies. “Hi.”

He leans forward and she reaches him in the middle, their lips connecting with a silent smush. He smells like pine and teakwood - the Bath and Body Works cologne she got him as a Hanukkah gift last year.

His fingers wind up in her hair, pulling her closer. She hums under her breath, her knees going weak.

They pull apart after a long moment and she can see the remnants of her vanilla lip gloss around his mouth.

“You uh… you have something there.” She tells him, pointing to his lips and he snorts. “It’s okay. Just you leaving your mark on me.” Elisa rolls her eyes.

She leans in for another kiss, this one more chaste and quick. She pulls away first, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

“Yeah. A great mark.”
