8 Just got answered, so onto 17!

17. Did Ryder fall in love? If so, with whom? What drew them to that person? Would their sibling approve?

I’m still figuring this one out.

I had intended to go with either Vetra or Jaal for her, but Vetra is too mature, and although Nova has no problem with her having her shady connections and underworld kind of knowledge, as a romantic partner, it would definitely cause a rift with them. She basically needs goodies like herself. The most compatible romances for her are probably Liam or Jaal. I would say Peebee is also super compatible, but honestly, Peebee is like another version of herself, except more free to do as she pleases, and it bothers Nova because as Pathfinder she has less freedom, so she likes Peebee but there’s also a slight resentment underlying her relationship with her.

Liam is youthful, tries to stay optimistic, even when he falters sometimes, can laugh at bad situations when it’s not too dire, and makes mistakes as he tries to figure things out. This is all very attractive to Nova because his friendly nature and openness is much needed. Plus if she needs someone to party with her, he’d be great for that too.

Nova thinks Jaal is adorable. She is completely on board with the emotional openness and his battle savvy. They both like to take things apart and put them together to figure out how they work, and Nova likes the fact that Jaal also still seems to be trying to figure out his place, because she is definitely on that same boat. They’re both emotional people and she kind of finds his entire life and situation romantic (in the idealized sense) which kind of adds to his charm. He’s quirky and she finds his confusion cute sometimes, but also is taken aback that he can actually be smooth as hell when he wants?

He’s a bit(??? 27 Angara years..w/e the fuck that means) older than her though, and has been in the Resistance for ages, and she has no idea what that can be like, but it has definitely aged him in some ways, possibly too much? But his huge family is another draw for Nova because it is something she has always wanted. (Although this also presents the problem of a future for them because she definitely wants kids someday, and I’d assume Jaal would too because the Angara care so much for family? So that might...end a relationship before it even starts amirite?)

But, also, Nova gets crushes all the time on everyone. She got one on Avela on Aya because of her enthusiasm for her work and all around cuteness. She got a crush on Pathfinder Raeka for being a total badass and also just very brave and noble. She got a crush on Reyes Vidal because he was just a smooth, handsome baby with a hidden soft side. She even crushed on Kandros a bit, just cuz.

She’s just a huge romantic and wears her heart on her fuckin wrist at this point and is ready to give it away at the drop of the hat. She’s currently romancing Jaal because of his romantic nature, but I’m not sure if he’s the right fit for her. She might not stick with him in another playthrough! We’ll see!

Oh, and Callisto (bro) might feel a little weird if he found out about Jaal, or basically Nova being with any alien since she’s only dated humans, but she has gotten crushes on characters in games with aliens and also on the turian who played the lead in Fleet and Flotilla so he’s not exactly shocked. He’d approve of anyone who was treating his sister like a queen.

25. How do they feel about what they’ve accomplished in Heleus? Are they proud? Worried? Do they feel positive about the chances for a cluster-wide unity? If they could change anything that had happened since everyone arrived in the cluster, what would it be and why?

I kind of answered some of this for 4, but it’s a mixed bag. Some of her decisions haunt her really bad. To the point of giving her nightmares and anxiety attacks. But for other things, like settling on Eos, she was super proud. She is very fond of Prodromos despite it being on a planet she would rarely want to visit. But it’s just like her baby, essentially, and she will do whatever she can to see it thrive. Collecting evidence of the settlers that were on the 2 failed sites really hit her hard and she’s definitely feeling like she owes the Initiative civilians a ton for all the leg work and general hard work they did, to the point of giving up their lives for the initiative.

She tries to be positive about a cluster-wide unity. She is at least hopeful with the Angara. She loves the Angara and wants to do right by them (sometimes even to the detriment of the initiative it feels like). Essentially she’s one of those idealists who is hopeful for world peace and yadda yadda. She doesn’t know if it’s possible to achieve it with the whole situation of Kadara and how quickly so many turned to low morals and depravity (I mean CANNIBALS..COME ON! that made her sick!) but she will continue to strive to achieve unity throughout the galaxy.

I haven’t finished the game yet so I honestly can’t say how any of her decisions may have slightly affected endgame. But she does regret her decision on the Kett Flagship bc it doesn’t seem like Drack will ever fully forgive her for it. She might not go back and change her decision, but she wishes it wasn’t one she had to make in the first place.

She’s also worried about letting New Tuchanka keep that remnant core because….Morda doesn’t seem like a liar, but she also refers to herself as OVERLORD, which is never good. She hopes that there won’t be a point where Morda will choose to betray the Nexus and prioritize a bomb over the welfare of her colony. But like I said, ANXIETY.

You’re all too kind! I’m blushing for my Ryder.

9. What’s their favorite memory they have of their sibling? Of their parents?

I don’t think Raya has a favorite memory of her brother. He’s her best friend and they have had 22 years together. The memory of him is the memory of her life, her childhood. It’s hard to pick any one thing out of that and put it above the others.

Ellen once took the family to a natural history museum when Raya and Rhett were kids. Raya specifically remembers a butterfly exhibit that she and Ellen took their time with. She’s not sure why it’s her favorite, but it feels warm to her. She remembers the butterflies, and her mother’s face as she read the displays aloud.

With Alec, it’s hard. Her favorite memory is probably when he invited her to join the initiative. I think in that moment there was some genuine remorse from him, a real attempt to reach out to his child, and a sense that this was the beginning of a new, better relationship for them. It’s bittersweet.

18. What does Ryder do in their spare time? What are their hobbies and interests? Do they share these with their friends, or are they more private?

Raya loves reading. She spends a lot of her spare time pouring over the scientific reports coming in from the outposts. Even when she doesn’t understand them, they’re sort of calming for her. 

I don’t know if this counts as a “hobby,” but Raya also enjoys learning about other people and THEIR hobbies. She likes to engage in conversation with other people about their expertise... which is kind of like a different sort of reading, in a way.

She likes long distance running too, but hasn’t had a lot of opportunity for that recently. Maybe once the settlements get more settled....

 21. How do they feel about their connection with SAM? What’s their views on AI in general? Knowing Milky Way history and the attack on Eden Prime and the Citadel a recent memory, did the Geth influence this view? Does their view on SAM change?

While Raya has nothing against AI in general (no position on the ethics of creating one, figures once something achieves sentience you should respect that sentience and treat it accordingly), she’s not entirely comfortable with how intertwined she’s become with SAM, especially without getting a say. Having not had many strong, close relationships in her life, she’s a little unnerved at having someone with constant, unrestricted access to her.

In the beginning, she accepts her connection with SAM out of necessity; she simply could not do her job without him. Over time, she becomes familiar enough with SAM that she would feel bad depriving him of further growth and experience. By the end of the game, she trusts him and feels she owes him at least her perspective and experiences– but I don’t think she’s ever entirely comfortable with their connection.

 18. Who did you choose to rule Ferelden? It’s been Anora, every time. I know Alistair can and does become a capable ruler, but my first Origins playthrough was an Alistairmance where he remained a Warden with his love and it was so pure I was subsequently biased. (There was the one run I did as a power-hungry Cousland who despised Alistair and everything he represented and well… Alistair did not become a warden that playthrough. I’m awful. ) 59. Who was written really poorly? No individual character really springs to mind? They’re all pretty cool, with their own nuance – sometimes the ‘nuance’ misses the mark, though. (See: the smattering of f/f relationships we see in Origins, Sera’s casual cissexism is a bit jarring, at times.) 78. What are you hoping for from DA4? I think it’s pretty much a given that we’ll be going to Tevinter, but I’d love to be able to see Rivain and Antiva, as well! I also reckon it would be awesome if the decision to disband the Inquisition or not had some sort of noticeable impact beyond flavour text, but that might be getting my hopes up too much…ALSO MORE QUNARI LORE. PLEASE. Also, I want to know more about the lands beyond the seaaaa.

3 Balls In Peru

When you go into the chamber at the temple, youhave to get three balls in the three indents inthe ground. The first ball is just sitting there.The second ball is in the statue on the rightside. Put the first ball in the indent on theright side of the temple. Then Go up the ladder,climb on the ledges, and push the ball off thecliff. The third ball is in the ststue on the leftwhen Laura first walks in. Use you grapple hook topull the statue over. The third ball will then popout. Put the three balls in the indents and thencontinue on. Have Fun!!!

Croft Manor: Gold Statue

Before you can get the gold artifact, you mustcomplete the Bolivia level. Otherwise, the rest ofthe manor will be closed off. After you enter themanor, get the grapple. It is located in thecomputer room in a safe behind Zip. To unlock thesafe, use a laptop on the floor. After you get thegrapple, get the pistols in Lara’s bedroom. To getthe pistols, there are two knives that both needto be pulled. Then, go head to the library. Toyour right is a wall that can be broken byshooting it. Once that is done, move the bookcasein the wall to one of the pressure switches oneither side of Allister’s desk. Then, use thegrapple to get down the other bookcase, which isabove the pressure switch on the right. Put thatbookcase on the other switch and a wall will openup. Grab the PLS on Allister’s desk. In the darkhallway is a switch. After you pull it, a largestone tablet with a clue will come out of thewall. The clue reads “Above the Waters, TwinSisters turn their backs one upon the other toleave the Ambages unguarded”. Go to the end of thehallway and pull the second switch. Another wallwill open up and lead you back into the bedroom.With the first clue in hand, go to the pool. Onthe right side of the pool there are two fishstatues that can be pulled out. Do so, then jumponto the shortest one. Jump on to the pole, swingto the ledge, jump to the other statue, onto thesecond pole, then onto the balcony. There are twoGreek statues. Rotate them so they face away fromeach other. Once they are in position, anotherclue will appear: “Within the Hall of Knowledge,Tomes of Cerulean, Topaz, Viridian and Crimson inturn reveal their Arcanum”. Go back to thelibrary. Push in the blue book to the right of thedoor. Then, go to the small room upstairs. Push inthe yellow book, then the green book, outside theroom. Go back downstairs and push in the red book.After you do this, a wall will open, revealing thethird clue: “Above the Hearth, revealed visage andcountenance touched in haste raise up theSteward”. Go back to the front lobby. To the rightof the door leading to the library is a switchthat just came out of the wall. Before you use it,use the grapple to pull out the poles leading tothe other switch. After that, push the switch,swing to the other side, and use the other. Thefourth and final clue then comes out of the wall:”The risen Athena turns to face the Sun, whoseburden then reveals the Golden Laurel”. A statuehas arisen in the middle of the front lobbydownstairs. Turn it so that it faces the windowabove the stairs then stand on the pressureswitch. The statue then goes back into the groundand a stone pillar with the Golden Artifactappears from the ground in its place.

Ghana: Gold Statue

At the end of the level, when you stand on buttonthat opens the timed door, do not enter that door.Instead, go to the under the door to find a goldenstatue.

Japan: Alternate Costume

When you reach a room which has a hanging dragonin it, you will find a large red box. Throw it tothe floor to break it. You will get a gold statuethat gives you a new costume.

Bolivia: Silver Statue

On the first rope in Bolivia, turn left to findthe cave that has the silver reward.

In Croft Manor, on the right-hand side of the mainstairs is a portrait of Kain, as it appears inLegacy Of Kain: Defiance. Eidos, producer of TombRaider, also produces the Legacy of Kain series.

Kazakhstan: Project Carbonek Boss Level

After the creature is released, run around thedome. Turn the switches on by pressing Y. When youhave pressed all the switches, four balls withcome down from the ceiling. Get onto the magneticgun in the middle of the room. Make the balls cometo you by using the magnetic gun. This might takesome time because the monster will keep knockingyou of the gun. When you have all the ballspointing towards you, a chamber will open aboveyour head and the sword fragment will appear. Getoff the gun and point up towards the swordfragment and grapple it. When you have it, anintermission sequence will begin and the levelwill end.

Peru: Play Soccer

At the beginning of the level, look to your rightto see a soccer ball. You can shoot the ballaround with Y. Hit it past the dummy in betweenthe fences and for a goal.

Collect all the silver rewards from a level tounlock all object models from that particularlocation.

Time Trial Shortcut

Having trouble with time trials? Try completingthe final time trial in Bolivia against the finalboss first (it’s a boss fight, and it’s easy).This unlocks the one-hit death cheat. You caninput the cheat when the cinematics are playing atthe beginning of a stage and make enemies andcertain bosses die quickly, saving you some muchneeded time. It also makes the motorbike racesfaster to finish. Note that only one cheat may beturned on at a time.

So my #1 advice for people is to USE REFERENCE. For the love of God, USE REFERENCE. Learning to draw something from memory is it’s own separate skill, and it usually comes after years of learning to observe. So do yourself a favor, and OBSERVE.  “Looking for reference” is also a fool-proof excuse when you get caught looking at porn. Just sayin’. For me, picking reference is more about the personality than the exactness of the pose -- Sometimes I do try go get the details right, but usually I can’t find anything that’s perfectly aligned with what my vision for the piece is... so I end up using multiple references for one pic (I think I had 5 for the Isabela one). 

If anybody tells you that using reference is somehow cheating or makes you less of an artist, please send them my way, and I will show them the student loans I have from a very expensive, very prestigious art school where we spent half of our time making master-copies, attending life drawing classes and learning how to look at something and then draw it, before they ever let us run off and do “art.”
