Harvey Dent helping the good guys to spite Joker

Harvey walked through Gotham, observing the chaos as Joker's goons terrorized the streets. He flipped his coin while humming to himself until he spotted a familiar figure.

Harvey (muttering): There’s that kid again. Well, man… but I knew him when he was a kid. I should help him out instead of letting Joker win. I hate the Joker... but I’m not a hero. Hm.

He glanced at the novelty coin, a memento from the times he remembered Jason hanging around when he was the more lucid Harvey Dent. He flipped it into the air, caught it, and shoved it into his pocket.

Harvey (walking over to Red Hood): Hey, guy!

Red Hood turned around, intentionally shooting a man in the foot.

Red Hood (casually): Um, yeah? What’s up, Harvey or Two-Face?

Harvey (grinning): You can call me either. I see you’re out here fighting goons and shooting them.

Red Hood (shooting a man running at him with a bat): Yeah, that’s how I usually fight… Most times when I don’t feel like fighting.

Harvey chuckled, nodding in agreement.

Harvey: I get that. I respect that.

Red Hood (taken aback): You respect that?

Harvey nodded and carefully raised his hands.

Harvey (calmly): Thing is, I hate the Joker and these creeps way more than I hate Batman and his team. Well, except for you. I respect the hustle and the methods you use to deal with other criminals.

Red Hood shrugged, feeling a bit vulnerable. The red helmet concealed the emotions of a man wrestling with his massive daddy and chaos issues. He had to stay strong and look cool.

Harvey (offering genuinely): Mind if I help you out? I’ve got a gun and a switchblade I took with me when I escaped Arkham.

Red Hood (surprised): You’d do that for m—us?

Harvey (calm tone): I want to. It’s a classic “enemy of my enemy is my friend” situation. If you want to arrest me afterward, I’ll understand. The goody version of me will return once I’m locked up, and I just want to have a little fun tonight.

Red Hood (grinning): Fuck yeah! That’s what I’m talking about! Sorry for cursing, I’m just pumped up!

Harvey chuckled, waving his hand dismissively.

Harvey: You’re good, kid. All right, let’s start this. I’m actually going to practice my old karate skills on these crazies. I learned about pressure points that makes a man feel like their dying. You're going to love seeing that.

Red Hood (admiringly): You are an inspiration to me right now.

Batman (eavesdropping on the comms): Oh, come on!

Harvey (smirking, sincere tone): Thanks, Red Hood. That means a lot coming from you.

Red Hood smiled back, then cocked his gun. Together, they steeled themselves to take on Joker’s goons, while Batman tackled his own set of enemies on the other side of Gotham.

Batman (frustrated): Why am I competing with Two-Face for my son?!

He kicked one of the goons to the ground, storming off in annoyance, while Catwoman and Red Robin stifled their laughter as they continued to fight other goons.

after the newest video, i’ve seen some people jump to saying that Porter shouldn’t be the only one to apologise, and that he and Treasure were both in the wrong in their… argument.

of course this is absolutely correct and that should not be disputed, Porter and Treasure both said things that hurt the other.

however, i’ve seen some folks saying Treasure was as equally wrong as Porter in this fight, and i have to disagree. big ramble ahead.

fellas, is it a crime to want to get to know the person who you want to be in a relationship with?

before I say anything else, yes, Treasure should absolutely apologise for pushing Porter’s boundaries in their last meeting - BUT! before that argument, they’ve only ever asked him questions about how he’s feeling, probably because he’s constantly moody and mysterious! which is, i admit, very sexyandcool of him. sure. but it’s also Not Great when you’re trying to open up to this new person and they outright refuse to tell you anything further than a quick “i’m fine, Treasure, now lets move on to our regularly scheduled blood-drinking-face-slapping-sexy-time” whenever you try to get to know him - ya know, even after he’s gone and said that that’s something he also wants to do.

i won’t lie here. i’m willing to admit that i’m on Treasure’s side moreso than i am Porter’s, because there’s only so much “we can have this conversation later, darling” that i would be able to handle before i too would tell him that he’s running from his issues faster than a rollercoaster of its rails.

yes, Treasure pushed his boundaries. But if they hadn’t, realistically speaking, when would he have ever opened up? with anyone?? He would certainly NEVER turn to Vincent for advice for anything (which i remind myself excitedly that this argument is what now begins the slow forming of the bond of sibling-esque understanding and heartfelt meaning!!! aaaa!!) and frankly, i don’t think Porter would get to a place of understanding like this on his own.

Porter is the type of person to force himself into believing he is content with a situation, because he believes he has to be - that that is the only decision he will get to make in the matter, and so he makes it to reinforce his sense of agency, aka: ‘i am okay with this situation because i choose to be, thus it cannot hurt me in a way that matters, and so i am in control’ - until something snaps him out of it and makes him see reality.

It happened first with Sam, Vincent and Lovely leaving the Solaire House, forcing him to confront the fact that everything is not ‘fine’.

And now it’s happening with Treasure, too.

Porter’s world is shattering around him, and he cannot continue to lie to himself and sweep the broken shards under the rug. Because with enough pieces, and enough time, those shards cut through eventually - and soon there will be blood.

"Mistletoe," Sirius said, halting in the doorway and gesturing to the bunch suspended with red ribbon from the kitchen doorway.

No doubt this was Molly's doing, Remus suspected. It seemed unlikely to be a festive touch from Kreacher.

"I'm sure the kids will have great fun with that," Remus said, moving to walk through the door. "I can't say I'd be surprised if Ron finally plucked up the courage to tell Hermione how he feels."

A hand on his wrist stopped him from going any further.

"Moony," Sirius said, his voice teasing.

"Padfoot," Remus replied, conscious that any one of the guests who were at Grimmauld Place for Christmas may happen upon them, but finding it difficult to ignore the flirtatious smile that was toying at Sirius' mouth.

Sirius moved closer, wound his arms around Remus' shoulders, his hands insistent at the back of his neck.

"What is the point of me going to all the trouble of hanging this if you're just going to ignore it?"

His grey eyes were dancing.

And Remus couldn't resist.

"Very true," he said, his voice warm, his breath hot on Sirius' face as he pressed towards him firmly. "Now come here and let me kiss you."

Can we talk about the difference between Elrond greeting Durin in S1 as opposed to their meeting in S2?

In S1 he goes into the meeting with somewhat selfish expectations and delivers the line “my heart sings to see you, old friend” in the tone of a smooth politician. It feels performative.

It isn’t received well.

In S2, he gently turns, says the exact same line and the sincerity is bleeding from him. It’s the first time all season you see a genuine smile from him, like his heart is really full of joy for that brief moment even though the darkness is pressing down around. He means it.

And now I am crying in the club.
