... and here we have reached an impass, because for Blitz to tell Stolas that his behaviour hurts him, he'd have to own up to the idea that things can hurt him. He's recently made strides to open up emotionally, admitted to personal mistakes and has even admitted to another person that the classist bs bothers him, but to fess up to actual vulnerability from another person... that's still a long as way off. But since Stolas seems to have finally sherlocked his way to the core issues of their relationship (of which the power imbalance is a big part), maybe he'll get the ball rolling on this.

I will defend to the death idea that Stolas genuinely thinks all his pet names and talk of "impish playthings" is a sexy, fun game he and Blitz are playing together (similar to their bdsm dynamic) and has no idea how those things are actually hitting Blitz right in his giant sore spot and driving a wedge between them.

Like I genuinely believe that if Blitz said, "Hey this makes me feel degraded and not in a fun kinky way but in a way that's actually hurting my self esteem," Stolas would apologize immediately and stop. But he has no idea.

And yes, of course I think Blitz's body language and reactions should be enough to get that message across (especially all the times he's explicitly asked Stolas to stop calling him "Blitzy"), but I think it's understandable (understandable...but still not acceptable) given his lack of socialization growing up and complicated by their dynamic (after all, Blitz insults him all the time both in and out of bed).

All this to say, they need to both just sit down and talk about their issues with each other and clarify what makes each other feel genuinely hurt and insecure so that they can stop, but unfortunately those issues and insecurities are the exact thing preventing them from talking about it.
