if matt sturniolo is anything, he is persistent.

he’s charming, but he’s also relentless. he is, alongside his brother chris, the campus’s golden boy with far too many admirers and far too much attention following him everywhere and anywhere he goes. he’s a smooth talker but with a reputation, and theres a new girl hanging off his arm at every party, but recently the only girl that he seems to be interested in is you.

the only girl who wants absolutely nothing to do with him. 

you’d heard the stories, scrolled through post after post about him posted by anonymous buzz on campus connect, always documenting all of his hookups and late night antics like it was breaking news, and every time you heard new gossip about matt and his friendship group, you swore to yourself that you’d never fall for someone like that, but that hasn’t stopped him from trying with you.

the first time that he asked you to tutor him was after a lecture. you and your best friend were headed to the canteen when out of nowhere he suddenly appeared directly in your path.

“hey, you’re smart, right?” he asked, looking up at you with his usual smirk. 

you barely even glanced at him.

“i need a tutor, can you help me?” 

his question made you stop in your tracks, turning to face him with an eyebrow raised. “huh? is that a joke?” 

he grinned, that infamous grin that most girls seemed to melt for, “do i look like i’m joking, pretty girl?”

“yes,” you tried to move, but he followed your steps, blocking your path again. “not today, sorry matthew” 

"it's just matt—"

but you walked off before he could say anything else. you heard him laugh behind you, he wasn’t offended, and he certainly had not been defeated by your rejection, and you should've know then that he wouldn't give up easily.  

then came the second time he asked. 

you were tucked into your usual spot in the library, your headphones in, your hoodie up, fully focused on the work in front of you when you felt the chair across from you being pulled out, and someone filling the empty space.

you looked up, instantly meeting his eyes, with a overdramatic heavy sigh. 

“matthew,” you say, sighing.

he held up his hands, “look, hear me out.”

“absolutely not.”

“you know, i followed you on instagram the other night,” he said casually, stretching back in his chair, his arms going over his head which caused his hoodie to rise up slightly, just enough to show the waistband of his boxers, you had noticed but refused to let it distract you. “and you didn’t follow me back,” 

you shrugged, eyes focusing back down at your notes. “i know.” 

he smiled, like he had almost expected your response, almost like he liked that you kept shutting him down. 

you didn’t say another word. 

but, then there was the third time. 

it was after a football game, the stands full of excitement. you’d sat in the bleachers, only attending because all your friends were going, you’d been watching the game from a distance, not really focusing nor caring about the score. 

you were getting ready to leave, walking through the campus car park to your car when you heard footsteps approaching. you turned, expecting to see one of your friends, but instead you were met with matt. he still had jersey on, his face flushed like he had ran to catch up with you. 

you felt your heart starting to race, but you kept calm, like his sudden appearance wasn’t affecting you, at all. 

“didn’t think football was your thing, pretty girl,” he said, a small smirk tugging at his lips. “maybe you were my lucky charm in the crowd tonight.” 

“it’s not my thing,” you reply, unintentionally glancing him up and down in his football gear before looking back up at his face, where is already staring at you. “my friends dragged me here.”

he nods, like he expected that response from you. “so,” he says stepping closer, “about that tutoring session.” 

“i told you—“ 

“i’m asking for one chance, just startin' with an hour,” he cuts you off, holding up a finger, “i’ll take it seriously, promise.” 

you open your car door, but glance back at him. “i’ll think about it.”

then you were gone.

matt stood there for just a second, watching you drive away, before heading back to the locker room to celebrate the win with the rest of the team. plans for the after party were already in full swing when his phone buzzed.

Want to go more in depth into my ulla/library fight interpretations without adding like 6 paragraphs onto the reblogs/replies of my last post GAHAHAHAA so um. Faq/some explanations here….

1. Varian stopping himself from calling her “mom”/“if i really am your mother”

i VERY briefly mentioned this in the tags, but basically, in my head, the main reason ulla possessed varian is because she wholeheartedly saw him as a complete stranger. I wanted her to be really malicious and manipulative here— But i want to vaguely reiterate the fact that i truly don’t think ulla would treat him this way had she known he was her son. She’s batshit crazy, being in complete isolation for 18 years in a completely separate reality where time barely exists and even 18 years have felt like thousands— she’s so desperate to leave she’s completely willing to take advantage of everyone else- but her own kid? her baby?

Varian was one of the main reasons she even WANTED to leave- she always loved him. I think she had a lot of complex things going on and idk that she was ready to be a mother when she had him, but she truly loved him and wanted to come back to him….but she Does Not Recognize him at all because. Well shes basically lost all sense of time and reality, she can’t possibly bear the thought that time had moved on without her in any way. She doesn’t really remember who she is or what she looks like, so she cant recognize him by looks either. NOT TO MENTION var is trans in my head, so basically its like a triple whammy because ulla is 100% sure she has a daughter who is at most a year old and she wants to get back to her and her family. and suddenly this random teenage boy is coming in like Hey so I’m your son. I’D TWEAK OUT TOO LIKE WHO ARE YOUUUU.

So yeah. Varian does not call her mom, although he really really wants to. It just feels too weird to do so when shes completely unfazed by it- it’s like calling out to someone you used to know and them not even recognizing you. It hurts, but you just have to push it aside cuz…rlly what else can you do?

2. Is she a villain

I rlly rlly did want to frame her as a villain here and she DEFINITELY IS ONE but i see her as a very sympathetic one. I like keeping up w the tts theme of most everyone being redeemable or sympathetic in some way,,, And i must admit i have one of my friends to thank for getting me as attached to ulla and don as i am— So i have a lotttt of thoughts abt them and all their doomed yuri. Ultimately ulla was never truly evil to me and i don’t think she means any ill intent towards varian. i think she does eventually recognize him, too— but it’s not actually until she sees donella.

I mean think abt it- babies only have so many defining features. I can guarantee you if i showed you a picture of an adult who you’re only vaguely seen as a baby once like 18 yrs ago you wouldn’t be able to recognize them as the same person. But donnie? of course she remembers her, just as clearly as she remembers her baby— the one difference is that donella has the same face ultimately, so ofc ulla recognizes her immediately. but shes…different. older, grayer, wrinkled and Changed. The same face, but clearly different. it rlly makes her realize just how long it’s been, that varian really is that same baby she left behind— and it all hits her like a truck

i think when it actually hits her ulla truly is terrified of the person she’s become. theres so much she wants to say to varian, to don, to everyone— So many questions she wants to ask, but she can’t bring herself to say much of any of it. But she finally just has to accept that,,, time has moved on— but she hasn’t been forgotten. i think thats something she always feared— being forgotten and leaving nothing behind. And,,, I think that’s one of varian’s biggest fears, too. Obviously shes still Not fully there in the head and shes kinda just had a complete swing from a manic state to a breakdown. And yeah she’s definitely not gonna be let off the hook for the fact that she was still willing to manipulate and possess even a complete stranger just to get out. But she and varian do have a heart to heart, she gets some closure with don….and they all do understand where shes coming from.

3. What about varian? does he just forgive her for the whole possession thing?

Absolutely Not. in fact i think it fucks w him so so bad. i think since he was a very young child, varian’s always built up this Idea of ulla in his head— this perfect maternal figure he never had growing up. He was even more excited to hear abt their shared interests, and he really really hoped that finding the library, finishing her work, etc, would give him some kind of catharsis and closure…perhaps, ideally even finding her again, wherever she was. But..that didn’t happen. He found her, of course, but she wasn’t that mother he had always wanted or needed. She had completely lost herself, didn’t even recognize him— and she was downright hostile towards him. He has so many mixed feelings about it all— disappointment, rage, some kind of grief, for both that image of her he had in her head and the potential that he never got to see. but i do think, with both his uncle and don + quirin he eventually learns more abt the person she was before— how similar they were, how much he could relate to her, how she truly was just,, human.

In fact, i think pre-library ulla was a lot like rapunzel— always a free spirit, always searching and yearning for something more. not completely ready to settle down, but she tried to anyways. Tried to go on one last trip before she finally settled,, and then everything went wrong, and she ended up hurting the people she loved most. I think w how close varian is to rapunzel, how much he understands her— that resonates w him a LOT.

All in all, i think as he matures, varian is eventually able to come to terms with it for what it is. No, she wasn’t the mother he wanted or needed— and she did things he could never, and never will, forgive her for. but he still empathizes with her and hopes that, in another life, she could’ve finally been free, and happy.

4. The rest of team radical being at the library fight

already mentioned in a reblog but ill put it here for consistency’s sake

Yeah. I think honestly the possession fight would hit sm harder if it was hugo, nuru and yong all there trying to snap him out of it. Yeah hugo can give him the whole confession spiel but nuru and yong are like,, his younger siblings. he’s impacted them in so many ways and they deserve to be there!!! Them trying to talk him out of it would go SO HARD and it would be SO EMOTIONAL 😭 I do think hugo was ullas main target, i think yong and nuru come in a little later bc they’re still dealing w donellas lackeys outside but they obviously aren’t just gonna leave var and hugo there!!!!!

5. Can you write a fic/make the show

Srsly tho i would absolutely LOVE to write a fic about my interpretation of vat7k (although i can hardly call it enough to make a fic, i rlly just have Very passionate ideas of like everyones dynamics and character arcs). My writing skills are decent but unfortunately im not to the point w writing as a hobby where it comes as naturally to me as drawing does, so it takes me a lot of extra effort to go out of my way to write. Can barely finish oneshots atp (Sorry to the children of the moon fans its been a fucking year. i promise have a draft for the next chapter i’ve been touching like. Once a week)

My writer friends are like holding me at gunpoint to practice more though so maybe ill be able to write some oneshots abt them one day,,,,,,,,,

angsty frank hcs? :( i think we all have our ghosts, reader might have depressive episodes, anxiety, etc. frank obviously has ptsd and canonically pushes people away. i think them getting together will be a slow burn then they both have to get used to eo's habits. i'd love for you to explore how reader would handle frank being away, constantly being worried about his safety, him self isolating, being rough and angry, etc. i do think he's so gentle and patient in a relationship but sometimes it can get meddled with the version we create of him here. canon frank is a pain to deal with it but we love him anyway hehe.

Ohhh now this is excellent, i love these kinds of questions! Fair warning i have rambled my way through this with a slightly different approach than you asked so it could be a little less headcannony?? - that being said if you'd like dialogue moments/any more thoughts to follow up on this im completely open, just lmk and i can drop another post on this!

But god, You are so right though, frank is canonically a pain in the ass- hes rough, ragged, mentally and in alot of ways physically shattered. He's lived through trauma that no person should have to and become who he is because of that.

I do certainly think, as you said, any kind of relationship built with him is slow burnt, no matter if you also live with ghosts. Infact on his side, the start of it is almost built on a foundation of reluctance? Not exactly in the way that he doesn't want it, more that he holds such a deep rooted anxiety to anyone who gets close getting hurt.

In his mind, If you get close then what? How long does the ticking clock above your head have left?

On Franks side, He knows what he brings to the table, who is he, what he does. Every single moment of his life now is spent trying to ensure what happened to Maria, his wife, the love of his life in many ways, never ever happens again. Much like his relationship with children; frank will go to the ends of the goddamn earth to protect a child caught in crosshairs.

He'll do whatever, anytime to anyone so long as they make it out. its Frank doing what he feels everyday he didnt do for his own kids, while no fault of his own. But that sight of his son and baby girl will never ever leave him, nor will the agony of it. The blood, the damage, the damn fear on what was left of them. No. Thats never happening again, no matter whos damn kid it is.

I feel Frank also drifts off into his own mind alot, blank stares toward the wall or his boots. Lost in a time thats gone but not in the slightest forgotten. Yet Frank will hell or high water feel it an insult to call it PTSD but in near every way it is.

it would take time to understand it- understand him- as a friend or even partner. For you to process what he's been through, Learn what moments he just.. Needs to be left in it and what others he needs helping through. How to approach him in a way that doesnt make him feel a mockery to those really struggling. And its those times you have to squeeze his rough hands tight and really let him have it that he is struggling. Has been from that day at the carousel and likely will always be. And yet that does not make him any less worthy of good, or of care and attention and hell, love itself.

And yeah, those talks make Frank real grumpy. Hes sharp and he's got little filter. Words will fall from his chapped lips as easy as bullets when hes in a mood and they always have the ability to hurt. To push you away and to make you really sit and question why you love him. Fuck, sometimes if makes you question of he even does love you or want you around. It's absolutely the things that set off your own insecurities, anxieties and demons.

But thats unfortunately Frank. And while it certainly is not fair how he portrays himself sometimes it's just.. Theres alot blocking that proof of care from the surface you know? Hes always thinking of what you deserve, not perhaps what you want.

But the one way frank can and does show his care is in his actions, even if his words fall sharp and hurtful. Its the way he'll bring you a tea to apologize wordlessly as you sit curled in on yourself on the couch or bring home a pastry from that bakery you always drop into down the street. It's in your favorite meals he does his damnedest to cook and helping you fold laundry. Its in the baths he runs you after sex and in the hushed drifts of his fingertips on your skin as you drift off. He still loves, while differently now of course, intensly.

And perhaps you worry, ofcourse you do. Thats what happens when you care for someone, much more so when they do what frank does. So his whereabouts and safety is 100% an argument point, you subsequently sitting up to wait by your phone or the window is another.

Its impossible to count the amount of times hes told you not to do it, to stay away from windows and keep shit locked. To not call or text. You try, you do, to compromise, to make an effort, follow all the rules he sets. Naturally it isn't that easy, not when hes radio silent for times on end or coming home battered purple an blue all over; new bullet hole shaped scars littering his skin. He tells you, drills it even, because frank finds comfort in the controll of it all.

In a way, control keeps him afloat. Lets him monitor all that can be monitored.

But, with all of that said, Frank does become more mindful of what makes you anxious or stressed. Infact the longer your relationship with him blooms the more he.. Opens up to it? So to speak?

One way this manifestats is that Frank will never let you go to bed angry. You might fight, might say things neither of you mean in the moment, but not once will he let you walk away (and, after some effort on his part, nor will he). If you need to break down then do it beside him, if you need to slap at his chest and cuss him out? Do it, he's fine.

In the time you've spent learning all of Franks habbits and quirks, hes been learning yours albeit a little more silently. One of those lessons he's learnt is that walking away causes more harm and thats always the last thing he wants. Especially when he has to leave again.

You also begin to find post it notes scattered around, little reminders or messages. Things that fill the silence while in a communication gaps.

But I could seriously yap on this all day.. So again, if you'd like any more.. I guess more thought out?? for lack of better wording? moments, then im absolutely down for it.. I think theres a whole lot of potential there!

i am going to say something that is . well i don't think it's controversial in that i don't think it has been said enough to cause controversy to begin with but skjdfhjds listen. hear me out

on the one hand you have an uphill battle to convince me why these characters would even give a shit about each other (plus i mean megfitz massacred their characterizations and thats a whole extra mess) and generally it just reads to me as just treating kon as tim's spare love interest uwu without any care about his character.

but on the OTHER HAND.... timiveskon? chefs kiss. kon and ives are instantly bonding over nerdisms. they are both standing on the table and yelling about the rereleased edition of return of the jedi and kon is going on about how he has the original literally downloaded into his brain and ives thinks that's the sexiest thing he's ever heard and tim is just sitting there consumed by lust while they both yell about greedo. it practically writes itself. come on

yknow i didn't necessarily start my wyll origin run with the intent of romancing astarion in mind but the more i play the more i find their similarities amusing when it comes to like, the surface level personality they present to strangers in act 1.

wyll is a compulsive flirt. you see it in dialogue with shadowheart and lae'zel - he just tosses out a couple lines that clearly aren't supposed to go anywhere (asking lae'zel if she believes in love at first sight, blatantly reusing the same flirtation attempts with shadowheart) and i see this as part of his Blade of Frontiers persona. obviously a traveling vigilante would have no time for romance or relationships, but he's socially aware enough to have learned that people respond well to a certain level of rogueish charm. especially if his reputation precedes him. he can safely and positively engage in surface level flirtations with the people he interacts with because the person doing the flirting isn't real - at least not to him. he often says the Blade is his best self, but to him its an ideal he strives to achieve, not the person he really is. and i imagine that includes the ability to give discouraged people positive attention in a nonthreatening way. its safe. its superficial. he doesn't have to follow through.

this is overshadowed somewhat by astarion's tendency to flirt with anything that has a pulse, but the perspective they both have on it is pretty similar. theyre both coming from a place of not actually being interested in the recipient of their attention - whether that be through astarion's ulterior motives or wyll's lack of capacity for a relationship - but they both still put on this front because it's habitual. it's worked for them and it's gotten them through the varying degrees of social contracts they find themselves in. so they wind up trading lines easily because they've studied from the same script.

anyway what im getting at is bumping these two personalities against each other can definitely result in wyll and astarion committing to the bit so hard they accidentally wind up in a relationship. like, you're safe, you know the rules, you're speaking in a language i'm familiar with but we both understand that neither of us expect anything back on an emotional level. wait when did we start confiding our deepest secrets with one another. what do you mean you trust me.

i will say im not super invested in the idea of the show giving us too much information on c&a. like itll be super cool if we find out about it! and im sure itll be relevant information if we do but i think the information we get is going to be not super indepth, because im not sure itd match the tone of the show? its less about mystery and like The Lore and more about the characters and examining how different characters respond and have been responding to the environment set up by the show

(it WOULD be fun to learn more details about c&a and i AM curious i just dont think itd actually enhance much abt the show itself, and as such, i dont think its super important writing wise for the audience to learn about it either)

that SAID i do ascribe to the idea that ALL of the cast members worked for c&a before the ended up in the circus, no exceptions. i dont really know how say gangle or zooble wouldve ended up there, but i feel like they all ended up there one way or another. and i think most of the cast doesnt talk about their life in the real world bc its gone and theres no reason to dredge it up (or theyve forgotten it or most aspects of it), but it does make it fascinating that not even pomni, who has the least reason to avoid these topics at least early on, broached the subject of what in the WORLD is c&a UP to. it literally is never brought up ever as of ep 4. which makes me think the company was probably always super shady in some way to the pt that its employees were kinda desensitized to the idea that its c&as fault that horrible things happen

thinking about frank and sex (in a sad way)

not to dsmp post in the year 2025 but ive been sitting on this take for 4 years and i have to get it out of my system. i never joined the fandom online back then when it was all happening bc of how wild the community could be sometimes but ive been sitting on this for SO long n its been long enough i think

c!ranboo was one of my absolute favourites and i loved him SO much but heavily disagreed with one thing from him

on doomsday (one of the doomsdays bc there were like 3 or something) he had that moment where he ended up yelling at everyone over taking 'sides' and why they all had to be fighting & why couldnt we all just be neutral and peaceful instead of splitting into separate distinct opposing teams etc etc etc and i can almost kind of see how hed have a point - however there are issues with that standpoint SUCH AS -

lets look at the two sides: on one you have the strongest most skilled people decked out head to toe in the most absolute top of the chain gear - c!dream, c!techno & c!phil, whose aim is to absolutely and completely decimate l'manberg with their withers and obsidian bomb dispenser they have spanning across the entirety of the whole place

on the other side you have the people who have nothing. those were just kids trying to keep their homes, and they had nothing to fight with after the other side raided all their gear and got rid of it all. they fought tooth and nail to keep their homes time and time again with the odds stacked higher and higher against them each time

imo l'manberg had 3 main people involved that really contributed to its downfall, & only one was there on doomsday - c!dream. the other two were c!wilbur & c!schlatt. they were the big 3 involved in the l'manberg politics who were adults & not children following orders/defending themselves (which is why i dont include c!tommy/c!tubbo etc in that list). they were the corrupt power hungry quote unquote "politicians" (for lack of a better word) that projected all their issues onto everyone else and dragged them all into it

(if you squint you could technically include c!eret in that list, but imo in reality they were really only just another pawn for c!dreams big game of chess as a way to pitt the opposition against each other & gain power over them, c!eret never really had actual power/rule over anyone or anything they just lived in a castle and took c!dreams word for it. also they redeemed themselves and rejoined the freedom side anyway)

lets start with c!wilbur - he was very manipulative, he liked having control & he craved power but there wasnt really an opportunity for it, so he built the van and attempted to start a potion 'empire' by seizing control over a commonly used item (brewing stands) to gain leverage over the more powerful players. he dragged other vulnerable & generally powerless people (yknow, like children) into it & used them as his building blocks to the top. c!tommy is the biggest victim of this from him. once the potion empire thing stopped working out thats when he shifted the narrative to the freedom-fighting-rebellious nation we came to know l'manberg for. he sparked that (he sparked it & the others kept it alive because they really believed in it and really believed in him) and at first i think he to an extent genuinely did believe in it and really did want freedom for him and his people with little to no other conscious intentions, but the subconscious want for power was always there and bubbled to the surface as he spiralled really far into corruption in the pogtopia arc (what started as "a special place where men can go and emancipate the brutality and the tyranny of their rulers" became "IF I CANT HAVE L'MANBERG NO ONE CAN PHIL")

then c!dream - even from before l'manberg he was fighting c!tommy over his music discs, & i guess that just cemented c!tommy as the no1 enemy in his brain for the rest of time even though c!tommy was really just a loud kid trying to get by. he was also power hungry and wanted to keep all the power he had so he felt threatened by the formation of l'manberg. other less powerful people taking some level of control & separating themselves from him startled him, especially with c!tommy involved in the opposition. he knew he was the most powerful on the server & didnt want anyone else to forget that so he consistently used fear and force to remind the others how much stronger he was than them, the main victims being l'manberg and its citizens as they were the first and biggest group to rebel against him (and the group with c!tommy in it but thats neither here nor there). he struggled to accept the idea of people having some kind of autonomy to lead a life separate from the server he ruled over (he even said blatantly he would never think of l'manberg as free, only that he would let them delusionally believe they were free in his discussion with c!tommy)

and c!schlatt was just your run of the mill big bad in your face power hungry corrupt politician. he wasnt super manipulative or anything similar to the other two, he was just an evil dude that, again, was power hungry and corrupt like c!wilbur and c!dream. he dragged others into it by using c!quackity to gain leverage in the election via votes, and by keeping the citizens of l'manberg manberg under his crazy authoritarian control and he did that pretty much mostly out of enjoyment and greed. he liked that he intimidated the people around him and frequently used that to his advantage because it amused him

it was those 3 that created the us vs them dynamic & pitted everyone else against each other by creating 'sides' because they were the ones who wanted the power, and they were the ones who dragged everyone else into their conflicts. they were greedy and self centred and made that everyones problem

ones like c!techno & c!phil arent included in that list because they were never greedy for power over other people, they were just people who happened to be powerful. they mostly just kept to themselves in their little cottages but because of the perceived rivalry that was created by the Big 3 and then projected onto everyone else, they declared l'manberg to be the problem. even though c!schlatt and c!wilbur were out of the picture by that point, their actions had left the repuatation of l'manberg tainted from the perspective of those outwith the country itself, whereas the people left behind in it (like c!tommy & c!tubbo etc etc) just saw it as their home, just the place that they lived in and had built their lives. the others outside had grown to view l'manberg as the cause for all the servers problems because of the way it separated itself from the rest of the server and was another thing, and because of the actions of the corrupted leaders itd began with (and also - l'manberg was really the only place for people to fight for power over with the political system it had set up, no one really ever challenged c!dreams position of power over the rest of the server, only within l'manberg at least until that final disc battle)

it was very much a punch up vs punch down dynamic that people like c!techno and c!phil and even c!ranboo couldnt really see, because they all lived comfortably with powerful top of the chain gear far away from all the main conflict, and none of them were actually present for the beginnings of the conflict. none of them were present to witness the disc war or the formation of l'manberg, they were never there to hear c!dream tell c!tommy that hed never see them as free from him as c!tommy handed him the disc. they joined at the height of it all where the two "sides" were already very distinct and at war with each other

c!techno joined at the point of c!schlatt being in charge of l'manberg and at that point he was helping the underdogs because in that moment c!tommy and c!wilbur asked for his help and shared his goals - to overthrow a tyrannical corrupt government. then c!wilbur, knowing full well he was right about to blow up the country within the next few minutes, shoveled all the power and responsibility of the country over onto a kid (c!tommy, who then immediately handed it back to him & then he immediately handed it over to c!tubbo). by the time c!phil joined c!tubbo was already president (& had only been for like five minutes) and c!wilbur was in the midst of blowing up the country (note - c!wilbur had the presidency and had l'manberg under his rule again, he chose to hand it off to c!tubbo and then carry out his plan to blow it up while telling c!phil "if i cant have this no one can")

c!techno was never there to see the way l'manberg itself began as a challenge to a tyrannical rule (because although c!wilbur was manipulative and corrupt and power hungry, ultimately he did have a leg to stand on with his methods which is why it worked so well for him and why he was so easily able to paint that picture of oppression - the canvas was already sketched and lined) and continued to exist as a rebellion against an even worse system than itself. at that point c!wilbur was still seen as the 'good guy' who just wanted freedom for his nation from the tyrannical authoritarian rule of c!dream, so c!schlatt suddenly coming into power was a sharp left turn government wise, and c!techno just joined right at that sharp left turn moment where the big bad evil government had just came in and made some significant differences. differences not only in the economic system of l'manberg but also tainting the core values that once held the citizens of it so high and hopeful against corruption. so c!techno never saw that rebellious freedom fighting nation that l'manberg started off as and was supposed to always be, he only saw it as the nation with the corrupt government

c!phil was in a similar situation, he also never saw it as that rebellious freedom fighting nation and only saw the damage that the power hungry corrupt people had done to it. he joined right at the crucial moment and only saw the conflict and damage surrounding the country of l'manberg. because of this he ended up adopting the perception that the place itself was the problem if it was causing this many issues this severe. he failed to notice that after c!wilbur and c!schlatt were both out of the picture the problems between l'manberg specifically and the rest of the server were only being revived on c!dreams end, and c!tubbo as the new leader of l'manberg did not start conflicts (although the butchers army is a whooole other ballgame but thats not what this post is about - that was mainly spearheaded by c!quackity- who is again a whooooole other post)

if c!tommy hadnt declined the presidency then c!dream wouldve been slightly more justified in having a go at l'manberg as a whole for the whole burning-down-c!georges-house-thing, but ultimately it seemed more like he just wanted to flex his power over them even more. just as another reminder he could tear them down any moment he wanted to without a single second thought- he used it as A. another opportunity to keep the citizens of l'manberg fearful of him (almost like a kind of "remember whos really in charge here" type deal - again think back to he & c!tommys original negotiations of freedom in the og revolution) and B. another opportunity to punch down on c!tommy specifically (exile arc is another whooooole other post), he was given an inch and he took a mile. c!tommy explicitly stated that the reason he did not take the presidency was specifically so that any business/issues with c!dream would stay exclusively between him and c!dream without dragging the rest of l'manberg into it but c!dream ignored that entirely

c!ranboo joined right at that moment, of c!dream enforcing his power over l'manberg, but he saw c!tommy technically strike first with burning down c!georges house. he didnt see all the previous strikes c!dream had made on c!tommy & l'manberg. he just saw c!tommy make a move and then saw c!dream make a move back, therefore creating a back and forth rivalry dynamic which, in his eyes, could easily just cease if theyd stop pitting against each other and lived peacefully. he doesnt seem to notice just quite how corrupt and power hungry c!dream really is especially when it comes to c!tommy and l'manberg, he only notices different people teaming up to fight against each other & not a case of oppressed vs oppressor. c!ranboo, like c!phil and c!techno has never really had too much of an issue with getting a hold of good armour and weapons and equipment, and hasnt really had anyone like c!dream stand in his way to take everything from him the way everyone in l'manberg has. c!ranboo has had issues with c!dream and has been used by him (another whooooole separate post), but he seemed to focus slightly less on the 'c!dream using any tactic available to him to enforce his power on everyone' side of things and moreso the 'what is wrong with me i need to figure out why this is possible for him to do this to me' side of things

theyve all heard about all the wars and conflicts etc from before they all joined, but they struggled to fully really empathise and actually see it from the others perspectives. this is why c!ranboo was wrong in his view on 'taking sides' on doomsday
