My parents were hippie nerds who watched the original. So I watched the vhs's of the original and Star Trek The Next Generation with them, and watched Deep Space Nine on tv. There's episodes with lots of complex thought and direction put into them. Then there's episodes where an alien gets an ear job (like a hand job but on his ears 🤪) or where someone turns into a salamander because they went REAL fast. One day while I was super sick my spouse asked me what I wanted to watch - I said a specific episode of Star Trek (one where the autistic coded android has a day off and wants to use the big computer to play sherlock holmes) its a fun and silly episode with a bit of serious rumination on conciousness and what defines life. This got my spouse hooked in it :3 (especially as they saw themselves in the android character). Quite literally no one isndoing it quite like Star trek!

I love how strong and passionate the star trek fandom is. It actually makes me want to watch the show. Like why are there so many of y'all? Why have you been here for *so* long? There must be a reason and the answers must be in the show

what do you like about star trek the most?

i dunno.... its just really fun i guess. not going to categorize what i like The Most since im bad at that but ill just put my scattered thoughts about it below lmao

lit has some Deep and Heavy topics but its generally rather optimistic + hopeful for people to do better which is nice. personally i cant stand doom and gloom type stuff – drama and violence and stuff is great stuff in a story, but when its approached from a point of view of outright pessimism just feels bad

the character relationships are great, im a huge fan of things being left somewhat vague because theres a lot of room for speculation – makes examining the actions/interactions characters have vs what they say etc etc fun.

oh it s COLORFUL.... the colored lighting the costumes the set dressing. idk i think a lot of tv/movies gets caught up with things looking too real (especially with lighting) but man im there to watch a film im there to watch a story.. not to look at real life.......

the scripting of a lot of it sounds a lot more subtle in what the characters are saying which again goes to the point of vagueness, i dunno i like that theres a lot of room for interpretation

to the point of vagueness again – sci-fi technology is also very fun to speculate about. give a hand wavy explanation and its very fun to try to think of how any of it even works. i need to know more about the relationship between the ship's artificial gravity, inertia, and orientation POSTHASTE

AH the fight scenes are fun. like no its absolutely not good fighting irl but its like watching cartoons to me. tom and jerry type stuff except theyre writhing on the ground much more. i love it when characters shove each other around lmao

"Yo, welcome in," Fulgar greets Ike and Vox, who stand at the door. They enter inside, Vox having to slightly duck his head under the doorway and Ike quickly taking of his shoes as to not trek snow inside the house.

"Hello Vox and Ike," Uki softly says, peeking his head out of the kitchen area. "I'll be there in just a moment."

Fulgar guides them to the living room, which has a cozy atmosphere. A fire crackles inside the TV. The four of them decided to get together to hang out, the two couples having lots of fun and discovering new things in their relationships. Ike suggested watching a movie together, so they wouldn't have to be forced to talk the whole time, and the others agreed that it was a good idea.

Vox and Fulgar, the LAM brothers they are, were in the middle of an arm wrestling match when Uki returns with small tray of mugs. He shooes the men off the small table and places it down. "I made some hot chocolate for all of us to enjoy, along with some cookies too."

"You're the best, Uki darling," Fulgar praises, making Uki blush slightly. He holds the cup between his hands, the heat not bothering him as much.

"Thank you Uki," Ike replies with a small smile, bowing his head slightly.

"Thank you so much, I was freezing my balls off," Vox laughs, holding the cup by the handle and nearly burning his tongue.

"I just made them," Uki says quickly, waving his hand over his own mug. "It's still pretty hot, so I'll get the movie on now."

Vox and Ike sit on one sofa on the left, and Fulgar and Uki sit on the other on the right. The two couples sit a good distance apart, but not far enough where they couldn't hear each other if they whispered. Uki flips through movies to watch, the rest commenting on what to watch.

"How about a rom-com?" Uki suggests.

"That doesn't sound bad," Ike responds, glancing over at Fulgar and Vox, who nod affirmatively.

"Alright," Uki says, pressing the button before setting the remote down. "Let's get nice and cozy."

He hands the other couple a blanket. Vox helps drape it over him and Ike, who rests his head against his shoulder affectionately. As Uki sits down, Fulgar takes the other blanket and tucks Uki and him in it. He casually slides his arm across the Psychic's shoulders and Uki leans into his warmth, quietly nomming a cookie he had baked.

As the movie started slowly, Vox and Fulgar talk to each other about something weird. Ike and Uki exchange glances, rolling their eyes at their partners with a smile. At the sight, both Vox and Fulgar smirk devilishly, and began to scatter kisses all over their lovers.

"H-hey! Stop that!" Ike chides, batting Vox away as the demon pouts.

Uki, however, just giggles and lets Fulgar do as he wishes.

"See? Why can't I give you kisses?" Vox points out, sad puppy eyes initiated. "I want to show you love and affection."

Ike stares for a beat, then sighs. He tilts his head up, presses his lips against Vox's porcelain skin and looks back at the screen. Vox, on the other hand, is not all that calm and stutters, cheeks flushed.

"Look at how red you are!" Fulgar teases, pointing and laughing.

"Oh, fuck off," Vox grumbles, flipping the Cyborg off.

"Shut the fuck up you two," Uki mutters.

The movie is about half-way through when Fulgar feels a hand sliding up his thigh. He casts a small glance at his lover, but returns his gaze back to the screen. A small smirk on his lips. But then he grunts, cheeks reddening as Uki palms his crotch, hand hidden from the blanket.

"Ukiki," Fulgar whispers in Uki's ear, the tips of his ears bright red. "What are you...?"

Uki hushes him, continuing to rub him slowly. Fulgar stifles his noises, chewing the side of his cheek as he watched the movie.

Vox, on the other side of the couch, interweaves his fingers with Ike's and kisses the novelist's knuckles. Ike smiles softly, turning over the demon's hand to kiss him back. Vox kisses Ike's head and jaw, Ike's skin taking on a pinker tone but allows the onslaught of affection. For some odd reason, Ike (embarrassingly so), started to get hard from the actions, and it was getting difficult to keep a straight face.

Like a clock... tick... tock... tick...

Enough.

Fulgar and Ike explode nearly at once, Fulgar crawling on top of Uki and Ike straddling Vox's lap. Uki squawks in surprise. Vox looks up at the novelist, startled, as Ike stares him down, breath heavy and glasses lop-sided.

"Looks like Uki isn't the only one misbehaving, huh?" Fulgar chuckles, glancing over at the other couple.

Ike doesn't reply, his dark eyes narrowing at the voice demon, who audibly gulps. "What the hell are you doing?"

"Kissing... you?" He says, almost as if it were a question.

"During a movie? With other people around us?"

"Says the one sitting in my lap. isn't that a bit extreme, mmm?"

As Ike and Vox debate with one another, Fulgar shifts his attention to the Psychic, a coy smile on his lips. "The hell you smirking about?"

Uki traces the Cyborg's jawline. "Everyone is kinda horny at the moment." He looks down to see Fulgar's hard erection and his own. "Maybe we should fix that."

"Shameless whore," Fulgar remarks.

"Says the horny bitch," Uki retorts.

Fulgar smashes his mouth against Uki's devouring him whole with a low growl. His tongue explore the entirety of Uki's mouth, enjoying the taste of chocolate inside. So sweet, like always. Uki nips at Fulgar's bottom lip, spurring him on further.

Ike and Vox are still bickering with each other, oblivious to the couple passionately making out on the other side of the couch. Vox decides to make a cocky response, and Ike can't help but be absolutely flabbergasted by this man's audacity.

Ike yanks him by the collar of his shirt, grumbling, "You need to be taught a lesson."

"Oh?" The voice demon smiles. "How so-?"

Ike interrupts his words with a rough kiss, which Vox groans into unexpectedly. His pale skin is tinged with a deep red. Ike keeps him close, legs wrapped around Vox's waist as Ike grinds against the demon. A quiet moan escapes Vox, much to his dismay.

Next thing you know, clothes are strewn across the living room floor, sounds of skin slapping against skin, lewd sex, and moans mixed with whimpers flood the room.

"Fu-fucha-" A moan cuts his sentence, Uki a whimpering and flushed mess underneath Fulgar, who repeatedly penetrates him.

A shaky laugh from the Cyborg. "What's wrong? isn't this what you wanted?"

Uki's arms wrapped around Fulgar's neck, holding him close as he whines in his ear. They were both close, they could feel it.

Ike, however, has been riding Vox silly, as obvious to Vox's quaking moans. His big hands encompass Ike's waist. He was big and taller than Ike, but here was, being used for Ike's entertainment. Embarrassment and shame were thrown out the window a long time ago.

"S-slow down," Vox gasps, surprised by Ike's stamina.

"Shut up," Ike mutters with a soft mewl, bouncing on Vox's cock. "You deserve it."

The next hour, both couples had the blankets across their naked bodies. Slowly regaining their breath, avoiding gazes.

"Well. At least we can say we've seen each other's dicks and not have to be shy about it anymore."

"Vox, what the hell man."

I didn't reply earlier because, to be honest, I didn't really know what to answer.

I feel like Obsession is fine on its own. It's a perfectly decent episode that taps into Kirk's morality—and, more importantly, his ability to command. It examines how Jim, The Captain, from whom perfection is not only required but also expected, deals with Jim, The Human who makes mistakes and stretches the Starfleet uniform until all of himself fits in it. My problem is not with this EP in particular, but rather the sequence of episodes that leads to it: Friday's Child –> The Deadly Years –> Obsession.

If episodes like The City on the Edge of Forever and Amok Time are what Star Trek TOS offers at its best, Friday's Child is what it offers at its absolute, bottom-of-the-pit worst. Genuinely one of the foulest pieces of television I have ever seen. Not even character assassination; DC Fontana nuked Bones until there was nothing left.

On the other hand, the Deadly Years is not remarkable, but I think it's interesting enough. And it essentially asks the same questions Obsession asked right after it. What makes a captain good? What line has to be crossed for a good officer to become a bad one? Etc.

James T. Kirk sometimes (probably more often than he'd like to admit to himself) acts against his principles when a big enough stressor is at play. All three episodes do that in their own way. The problem was never that Kirk contradicted himself in Friday's Child, for example, but that nothing in the runtime of the episode justified it.

I don't think that's the case at all with The Deadly Years or Obsession.

I saw someone in the tags of a The Deadly Years-related post mention that the reason it doesn't work for them is that it is "surrounded by other episodes that also don't show Kirk at his best." Ignoring the atrocity that is Friday's Child, this raises a very good point.

I think the correlation between these three episodes (Friday's Child to Obsession/The Deadly Years) is a perfect example of how you can (and often should) write your characters "out of themselves", but it's still a matter of how you do it, just like anything else in art.

Friday's Child breaks that barrier of how a character acts and how it perceives itself constantly, with absolutely no regard for what it is portraying (I could go on a tangent about McCoy's character obliteration here, but I choose my own sanity and to limit my tangents to themselves).

That's a massive difference from how The Deadly Years works. Its central narrative is, "How can these characters handle not meeting the standards they hold themselves to?" while Obsession goes to a more Kirk-focused plot about, well, obsession.

I do think that Obsession Deus Ex Machina-ing itself is its own worst enemy. Kirk objectively made a very poor decision to continue chasing the cloud in Argus 10 to the detriment of Theta 7's citizens. Jim got lucky the fucking monster was about to reproduce and send thousands of others just like it (and just as deadly) through space. Ignoring that feels counterproductive to the point the episode itself was trying to make. It just screams poor story time management.

I mean, Melli literally(if my personal headcanon that wardens live close to their ward is true, and if not then im not looking 😒) live what seems like at least halfway up the biggest mountain in Hisui. So my own personal headcanon is that he both isn't afraid of heights and is pretty good at like cardio and trekking, but he would also be more used to the cold since winds are really cold and harsh the more up you go up a mountain(to a certain point at least until theres no wind at all but then you have a different problem lmao). Like I think he would be more athletic than most in his clan, maybe he would even be a little smug about it hehe. I know I would be hehehe

It's technically not canon that all Wardens live close to their wards, but it's kind of implied, especially with Iscan's home being able to be visited on the coast. I’ve always assumed that we just didn’t get to see where their homes are because it wasn’t relevant to the plot, or that the devs just didn’t bother to add them in, or even that they’re just in locations that we can’t reach. I think with any sort of fictional world, especially in an rpg, that there’s an expectation that the audience will use their imagination to flesh out some of the experience, and I think given the canon details we have been given it’s a very easy conclusion to come to (that the Wardens keep homes close to their wards)

But yeah, I totally agree with absolutely everything. I’ve always imagined him to have extremely powerful legs due to all the hiking and climbing me must do, and it’s true that he’s frequently exposed to snow and freezing temperatures where he works. It completely makes sense that he would have a higher tolerance for the cold than most other members of the Diamond clan. While Hisui is a cold place in general, the swampy landscape where the Diamond clan settlement is located is likely to be one of the most humid places in the region. Also an observation. Of all the Wardens he’s the only one depicted with his hood up, which implies that he frequents colder locations. He’s also secretly shy, and the hood up could be a subtle nod to his true nature, but also two things can be true lol

One of my personal headcanons is that Melli also takes care of the Voltorbs as part of his duties looking after Lord Electrode, and that a major part of that job is ensuring that (as part grass types) Electrode and its colony of Voltorbs survive the harsh winter. I imagine that there’s a few weeks during the coldest part of winter that makes travel over the mountain impossible due to heavy snowfall and winds, and that it’s Melli’s duty every year to gather supplies, leave the Diamond clan and stay completely isolated in his home on the mountain for those few weeks, so that he can can ensure the colony are fed and kept safe during the most dangerous time of year. He has to be prepared before the bad weather sets in, because it’s virtually impossible for anyone to leave or reach that part of the mountain at all during that time, and that he has to endure extreme temperatures and ration accordingly so that he, his pokemon partners and his Lord can survive the harsh winter.

I also agree that he would be much more athletic than the average person, and yeah I could see him being a bit smug about it in the right situation lol. I kinda see him as someone who’s secretly ripped (not bulky, but toned) and it honestly that it shocks people when they’re able to see that for themselves. That due to his foppishness many people perceive him as more delicate than he is, and then they see him shirtless and they’re like where the fuck did those abs come from what???

aw shucks, its tempting, but i don't wanna give ya spoilers. and there are truly things in lost that must be experienced by your own flesh

so i guess i'll give a vague spoiler free overview

so. a group of plane crash survivors find themselves on a mysterious island and have to deal with the strange happenings + their weight of their individual traumas

the show is serialized and one ep more or less flows into another, so literally no ep can be skipped (no matter what anybody says) or else you'll miss something

its a large ensemble cast, ranging from the 13 to 20s range, all in all i think theres like 35 main characters

the show follows a flashback structure, each episode dedicated itself to a main plot on the island intercut with flashbacks to one character. we call these centric episodes. eg. this is a jack centric episode. sometimes an ep will have multiple characters have flashbacks in one ep. while this show didn't originate the concept of a large cast or flashback storytelling, it did popularize it in the early 2000s. so a lot of post 2004 shows wanted to be lost so bad and it shows

at first lost was a survival show but they gloss over this very quickly and its more about the weird shit going on. as time goes on, plots and mysteries stack up. this is to create intrigue, as the shows main focus is an endless parade of character studies. with the added bonus of some cool and twisty shit going on too

but because lost had so much plot, over time it got accused of being confusing and convoluted and Not Answering Questions and well. your mileage may vary. but i think its confusing if you watch it too slowly. like, it aired over a 6 year period, no wonder people got confused. its better to watch nowadays, way easier to handle

the genre of lost is: drama mystery action paranormal sci fi romance with a dash of comedy. lost is full of the saddest fucks you'll ever meet but the show contains enough levity and great colouring to make it not a huge misery fest

pretty decent racial diversity. next to no LGBT rep. more women than the average tv show. then and now

not a single bad actor in this entire show, the performances on display are fucking outstanding. and every emotion is like up to 11, which is great for my autistic brain

for those of you who find sex scenes to be tedious, i have a bit of trivia for ya: all sex in LOST happens off screen. not a single sex scene to be found. pre sex, yes, post sex, yes. making out, yes. but sex itself? footage not found. i'm neutral on the concept, i just thought that was something to point out

i highly recommend lost to, like, anybody. ever. its a masterpiece of television. even the low points are better than most shows. sometimes i take lost for granted and then i watch any other drama series and im like "oh right, lost is incredibly good"

its my third favourite show. and thats only cuz star trek and doctor who exist, and nobody is beating those fuckers

anyways do you like to see beautiful people cry and scream but it isn't cringe?* well, i've got a show for you! *okay there is some cringe. as a treat. the leading man of this show has the social grace of a cold pancake (affectionate)

which isnt me trying to toot my own horn or anything, i just really have appreciated the encouragement over the past uh. year and a half? that everyone has given me? like theres been ups and downs, but i gained a lot of confidence and felt like trying new things and being more creative. so many of the silly things ive enjoyed doing to make you laugh have turned into very genuine moments of joy and tears. like i genuinely have appreciated everybody who's ever looked at my work and said something nice idk WHAT i would be doing without that. like idk where else i would ever have felt comfortable enough to turn something like "what if the turtles watched star trek" into "mikey comes out as genderfluid" without people being so fucking nice and willing to hear me out and let me be sincere.

i always feel like i havent actually done that much art, but then i look back and im like whoa. wait thats actually a lot. and comics? strips and otherwise? ive never done that before! it just happened cuz people started being kind about my ideas and now ive gotten so much better! ive mentioned this before, but like i hadnt done art in....years. we're talkin 5 year gap at least. not for lack of trying. but honestly i often feel very dejected about my abilities and compare my work to others often. feel too old to be as amateur as i am. but genuinely, its meant a lot to just spread joy about something i like regardless of how good or bad i ever think i am at it. truly theres just a level of sincere kindness to things i create now that idk if i ever would have found without how nice and open people are.

The click clacking of her plain black heels echoed throughout the empty hallway as she made the trek to Aloysius’s office. She could already tell her ass was about to be handed to her by her short tempered asshole of a boss. Working for Aloysius O’hare leaves very little room for error. 

After what seems like an eternity, y/n finally reaches the door to his office. After hesitating for just a second, she raps the door with her knuckles, twisting it open with her other hand, “you wanted to see me sir…” 

Aloysius glares at her from his hi-tech floating desk creating an intimidating atmosphere. “Have a seat dollface” he says with a tone of condescension 

“Y-yes sir- t-thank you sir” Y/n scrambles to plant her ass on one of the pleather chairs Aloysius gestures towards. In her head she knows this charade can't continue between the two of them, and yet she can’t stop the pulsing between her thighs. 

“Tell me hon, why do you think I called you here”, he says eerily calm. 

“I–uhmm, it could be the…” she frantically tries to search her thoughts for the right answer to appease Aloysius, the pulsing sensation in her pussy growing stronger by the second.
