This is uh, lore, if anyone cares. Not ii related but osc related, kinda. Its more for a few AUs than anything else. also world building is fun. you can ignore this if you’re not interested

Ok so

Angel subtypes

We have normal angels. Made or heavenborn, they’re pretty typical angels. Except for the gold face markings instead of the stereotypical halo.

Heaven is pretty open and their cities and civilizations are designed for winged objects. Because of this, angels dont need super manuverable wings.

Guardian angels are mainly heavenborn. Young angels born with the specific wings, and taught how to protect and fight from the very start of their life. Then, at a young age they’re sent to the object they’re meant to protect to familiarize and grow up with them. they continue their training on earth though.

Of course, there’s no plan for if the protected object is in danger before that. So the unfortunate angels that end up with those objects dont come out of it exactly, mentally stable.

Made guardian angels are objects that died while trying to protect someone, or still wanting to protect someone. Once the object they’re protecting dies, they’re free to live in heaven as any other angel does.

When a heavenborn guardian angel finishes their job, they’re either assigned another if young enough, or let live in heaven if they help that object live their life to full potential.

archangels are the royalty of heaven, they watch over all of the angels and make sure everything is going perfectly. This takes a toll on them, however, and most are obsessed with keeping heaven “perfect” and “clean of pests” such as demons.

This obsession with a perfect world makes heaven feel strained at times, and angels that grow up under their control have a big fear of authority and self-expression.

At points this can mean frowning upon, excluding or even sending away heaven-born angels to earth who “ruin” the perfect cookie-cutter utopia they try to shove heaven into. This includes physical deformaties, attitudes, mannerisms or viewpoints they dont like.

archangels are also very arrogant in nature, from all the power they have and the society at their fingertips.

On top of this, being an archangel isn’t genetic, its a completely random occurrence. any heavenborn angel could be an archangel, as the traits of one manifest with time and as the individual grows older.

Glamour

Angels also have magic called glamour, which is basically illusion magic. They use it to hide features such as wings or markings when on earth, or simple traits like eye colour or scars. This is limited to themselves though, they cannot glamour others.

Its a variation of the fae glamour, although normal angels have far more limited ability with it. Glamour also drains the user, physically and mentally, and requires some level of focus. There is a point of exhaustion where glamour totally fails, and the user cannot use it until they get some rest. However this only happens after very prolonged use without any break or well, rest.

Normal angels can glamour most of themselves, although not all of them. they could hide specific traits or change the colour of those traits. Such as hiding an arm or changing hair colours.

Guardian angels can glamour all of themselves, so they’re able to become completely invisible or turn a neon pink, for whatever reason.

Archangels can completely alter their appearance, adding to it with extra wings or arms or whatever they wish. They can make themselves appear bigger or smaller than they are, and with very little toll on them. Their magic is far stronger than other angels, so it requires very little focus or effort to keep the glamour up for long periods of time.

Made angels

Made angels are objects that have died and have been good enough in their lifetime to end up in heaven. Or less good enough, and more perfect in the archangel’s eyes. Since the archangels have the final say in who gets into heaven, they often pick and choose to create the perfect dimension.

There is no visual difference between made and heavenborn angels, though made angels tend to fare better in heaven than heavenborn. the pressure from the archangels is defintely still there though.

Heaven

heaven is a sky dimension. all it is is endless sky and clouds, cities built on small floating islands. No non-angel could live there without some sort of flight device.

The cities are designed specifically for angels, with wide spaces and a lack of stairs, instead leaving space for objects to fly from place to place. as well as this, the buildings have a sort of castle look to them, and often expand up and outwards instead of only outwards. similar to a city build mostly up in a canopy, except without the canopy.

Angel culture

so, angels are brought up with the perfectionist mindset. Be perfect, be wellspoken, no conflict, no nothing. As well as this, they have very traditional values, like wanting kids to be married by a certain age, disobedience being absolutely unacceptable, and every celebration or event having to be meaningful and, well, perfect. Although this mindset tends to breed disobedience more than anything.

Despite these ideologies, they’re still against abuse and violence and such, because it breaks the perfect heaven they work towards.

Relationships are strictly between angels and only angels, and monogamy is the only type of relationship properly recognised, polyamorous relationships do exist though. They’re just waaaay less common. Physical affection in public is kept very minimal, though its normal to be affectionate with a partner when alone.

Angels also cant preen their own wings so they get someone they trust such as a family member, close friend, or partner to do it.

Marriage is highly encouraged in angels, and is treated as an essential thing and final stage in relationships, proof that it’s true love basically. which is romanticised to no end.

Angels care a lot about education too, idealising it and believing that an academically smart child is a good child. A high achieving child also helps with appearances, which are a big thing in heaven.

Fallen angels

When an angel does something evil like a crime or something so morally terrible even the archangels are disgusted, they’re thrown from heaven out onto earth, loosing their wings, but keeping their markings, now an inky black. Or they loose their wings and are just, thrown over the edge of the floating cities.

Alone: How does your OC deal with loneliness? Have they ever been completely alone before? How do they act when there's no one around to see them?

spencer was alone for awhile before the brigade. he didnt deal with it super well, though he posits he did just fine. usually he was too exhausted from work for it to bother him that much, but on the occasional time he wasnt, he would go out and be alone in a crowd- usually (almost always) a bar. just kinda melt into the chatter and chaos for awhile, before picking someone up to take home for the night

after gidget, he becomes a lot better about it, even comes to be comfortable in occasional bouts of solitude. he likes to cat social

raph never does well with loneliness and being alone, shes far too extroverted for that. social butterfly who constantly needs to be around people. on the occasion she is alone, she HAS to fill the silence with something; music, podcasts, making noise, even talking to herself. not narrating what she does though, god no. she either sings acapella whatever song is stuck in her head at the moment, has imaginary conversations or arguments with other people, recites old play lines and monologues from memory, stuff like that

Hate: What does your OC hate? Why? How do they act towards the object of their hatred?

both spencer and raph are pretty chill and dont hate super easy unless its a bout of self hatred but shhh ignore that

spencer used to hate nancy. used to treat him- honestly, kind of like how nancy treated him when they were still in their parable. ignoring his feelings, pretending he didnt matter as much, doing what he wanted regardless of the fellows opinions on the matter. bit more vitriol than apathy, with a petty sense of revenge lurking behind it all that spencer hated that he felt

also hates oliver (gidgets narrator). fuck that guy for what he did to his kid. ignore him too, or turn him away, shut him down every time he tries to do anything involving gidget

raphs really good at passive aggression when it comes to things/people she dislikes. puts on a happy, polite face and pretends theres no ill feelings, but puts WAY too much sugar in their coffee (or none at all) and pretends to be shocked and apologetic when they dont like it, that kinda thing

donovan doesn't have much lore but shes pretty much just 15 year old art kid who likes bunnies and drawing anime gore she makes those stickman fight animations in her free time and probably is somewhat scene now that i think about it??? that girl is blasting millionaires in the back of the classroom loud enough for everyone to hear lmao

fair warning i wrote most of the lore when i was like 11 so its a bit stupid but eh

broanch is this girl from an alien race (called steyaes) that split off of humans a really long time ago and has kind of just been hopping planets ever since

the patch of galaxy they ended up in was very barren of resources so this species kinda spent a lot of time just floating around in the void in a sorta hibernation like state or hopping between asteroids and small planets, whatever they could find, and using the limited resources before jumping off to look for another

theres also a thing that like. evolved?? or something??? in thats essentially jsut magic they have magic powers. imagine like a video game stamina bar that empties as the character uses it to manifest objects and attacks and yeah thats pretty much it (it takes a lot of energy to use so it's not used often for anything more major than like. controlling small objects, manifesting clouds {saoirse does that a lot}, electrical shocks, etc, but it can be used for larger things like combat)

(broanch's power stuff is more suited to combat while saoirse's and juneau's are more for controlling water and air)

she had a shitty childhood, parental neglect n all that, and spent a lot of time playing by herself and with this pair of sisters she befriended (saoirse and juneau), and pretending that she was in charge of various different things and this eventually manifested into her really wanting to host some type of tv show

when she was around 16 she ran off cus. shitty home life. and since steyaes are one of the relatively stronger human-adjacent species she ended up taking up various jobs bounty hunting or going off looking for rabid animals that were causing issues so she can kill them or whatever

she kinda just went around doing whatever for a couple years until eventually

one day she and saoirse were on this random planet they found that didnt really have much going for it but they were just kinda talking doing whatever, when humans found it

at this point in the universe humans do know theres other civilizations out there and have talked to them but they all kinda tend to keep to themselves so the humans on the ship are a lil surprised to find someone here

since this planet is otherwise entirely empty theyre like "ok cool this is ours" but broanch basically just goes "nuh uh i was here first" and starts fighting with nasa cus this planet is HERS actually ueah totally uh huh

....and then i dont exactly remember what happens at this part cus again i made most of this when i was 11. but. basically they dont really resolve the fight but because its happening there's loads of tv coverage and broanch is immediately like "WOW IM ON TV :DDDD" and decides that now is when she should finally bring her tv show host dreams to fruition

since she's only known for being on this planet she decides to use it as the prize for her new gameshow and then also decides (purely to piss off nasa) that the show is going to be run as a club at a random highschool cus why not lmao

the show is called "So Ya Want Planet Q?" and the contestants are all 16-18 year old students at a highschool in bumfuck nowhere america

she did not tell them going into this that is was a gameshow and advertised the club as an "afterschool hangout thing"

episodes are recorded live through saoirse running around with a camera and the show functions similar to something like total drama or bfdi (i made this entire thing in the trenches of my bfb hyperfixation lmfao) except instead of elimination by vote theres a point system, and the games change pretty much every episode, ranging from fairly normal stuff like trivia to a literal bomb defusing thing at one point

broanch is the main host and does all the talking and saoirse is the cohost and helps set up challenges and man cameras, and acts as the voice of reason to broanch's stupidity

saoirse's spent more time on earth and knows more about social norms and culture and shit so she's also the "resident human expert" because broanch has no fucking idea what shes doing

saoirse and juneau im still working on fleshing out but theyre pretty much just. normal. idk

saoirse's the cohost obviously and while juneau does help with the show occasionally she generally thinks its a bad idea so doesn't very often

i have a few other misc characters but those are the two i draw the most :D ive got another thingie called like plantii or somethign but again that was mostly made when i was 11 and also all the lore is on my laptop profile that im still locked out of :(( ill find it eventually though

hello! yes! i'll be honest talking about things like this always make me a little nervous, and i feel obligated to preface anything i say with a disclaimer that none of it really matters, nothing i say matters, and you should do what you like, because--who cares. i am not an authority on--anything, frankly. my opinion holds no more weight than the next guy's, and all i'm doing here is giving it, so. essentially what im saying is--people are perfectly entitled to disagree with me, but people are not entitled to be mean to me about it xx

having said that. it is my personal opinion that s x barty is one of the worst fucking things i have ever heard lol. who even is barty who is that guy. why would s be interested in him at all. i do not understand it it does not make sense to me. from where are we sourcing the character traits and personality that we are giving barty that would ever endear sirius to him, because it objectively cannot be canon.

overall i do not get the new interest in barty + evan + pandora (+ regulus, but we won't go there)...at all, other than guessing that people were bored with the marauders and wanted a new version of them (and new celebrities to fancast) while simultaneously changing next to nothing about them other than superimposing them onto the first slytherin side characters they could rustle up. i expect ive become a bit of a broken record in regards to my dislike of the popular meow-meow-ification + complete absolution of regulus as a character in order to make him a loveable oc (just as i think erasing all the negative traits that r/s have in order to make them more likeable is just as boring), and all of that applies to those other guys as well (with the slight difference that they are, somehow, even less interesting and significant than regulus in canon), so i won't get into that too much. but i think what you say about having no emotional connection to any of it is exactly right lol--it is a sort of shift? i guess? in the fandom that is simply of no interest to me. they are characters that i just have no emotional investment in and admittedly struggle a little to understand why other people do. i am emotionally invested in, like, five characters overall (and even out of those--there's only two i'm really here for innit xx) and i personally cannot extend that investment to a creepy little side character who is mentioned maybe twice in the entire series.

Oh hi Cassandra. How i can I tell its Cassie? 1. shes less fluffy than the others. 2. shes doing a really good impression of 1998 Cassie's "Do something really weird and look straight into the camera and try to pull it off as cool and fail miserably" act, which i consider a fundamental part of her character.

Wearing clothes means songcat, and i read these clothes as "English Teacher" but also i genuinely cant tell if this is a boy or a girl. if this is a girl ummmmmmmm this is Jennyanydots because griz and rumple are accounted for. and this is objectively the best makeup in the cast omg the lines are so neat.

this one vexes me personally. my first instinct upon seeing the makeup is Quaxo from Shiki productions. however it is unlikely that this American school production is drawing inspiration from japan. so then I think Jellylorum. and then we have the dress. on one hand i sorta think its just that this person arrived a bit late and didn't have time to change into their full costume. on the other hand it reminds me of Bombalurina or Demeter in some non-reps. considering the colouring of the makeup is far closer to deme than bomba I lean more heavily towards her.

at one point in the story he's alone for.. twelve hundred years. and while hes usually a loud guy he becomes very quiet and withdrawn and he talks to nobody. i feel he's kind of robotic in the way he goes about living like that. he doesn't really act different if people are watching him or not, but when he's alone like that he does just stop caring

brother he is at his lowest during the whole story. but uhh an actual serious answer. theres a lot that causes him to break down mostly just isolation and a feeling of being different and feeling like he's been betrayed. it's sort of more of a stack of things that break him than just one. but then also the being forced to kill people doesn't help. he gets very withdrawn and turns to very unhealthy ways to cope like alcohol. most of this lobotomy was there for

in grievance all he wants is for someone to love him. he just wants to be loved. hed absolutely never admit it though. he finds it shameful? he wants to appear strong and put together and not "stupid" or "sensitive". he gets manipulated into killing someone over it, so that's what he does about it lol

probably not the answer this question wants but grievance originally ended at just grievance and had no sequel. so it just ended with nix alone forever in the dark. thats definitely the worst possible ending i think. hes very aware its a possibility bc he made peace with it

he gets annoyed with things and will easily dislike stuff but true hate he really has to be spurred into. when he hated ronnie he was dismissive of him any chance he got

hmm. he definitely hides a lot about himself but at the same time hes far too open about other things. so it really depends. in grievance though vinny knew more about him than anyone else because he was the only one nix trusted enough to tell

for a long time after the story and even during it i think he considered himself a monster. or at least capable of great evil. i think he used to hate that version of himself but in the future he learns to be a bit more forgiving, a bit more able to recognize that some things were out of his control. he still doesnt like to think about it much

General update of wtf is going on!

Corrupt Implant Update

BASICALLY Theres now a side story/ timeline (haven't decided yet) of CI! This will be called Corrupt Implant Black Light and most likely will be a mini short comic series done before the main comic.

Why before the main comic? i want to improve my comic skills so this is going to be how, itll also help me figure out how the world of CI works, looks and functions since Black Light is set in the exact same world. just most likely a diff timeline, "AU", or side story that doesn't affect the main story majorly.

So far there is only 3 characters with possibly a 4th coming at a later date, im keeping the characters in the mini comic low to help with workflow! note the backstories/names may change.

Dr Station Mitchell Gray: A Tv object head with a mainly Black,Blue and Yellow Palette. His screen is mostly smashed along with his head being in somewhat bad condition with its paint starting to fade. He used to run a Doctors/ Ripperdoc clinc until a accident caused his license to be revoked, He now works in cash and illegally.

Machete: 9201X's older brother. A tall lanky human with a heavy load of implants, both legal and illegal. These implants caused him to have a massive Cyber-Psycho break resulting in his psychical body being heavily weakened along with most of his memory before and of the accident to be "forgotten". His real name is currently unknown.

Monika Ace: A card object head with a monochrome palette. She runs a high end Nightclub/ Casino in Blacklight. She has a Ace card for her head along with a ring of the same symbols on her neck. Its been known shes extremely flirty to people she finds appealing and often times sometimes caught stalking them.

'adding onto my earlier thought: he gets stuck quite ofter when he first tries to use his power so the others kinda have to help him with stuff like getting to his room if he cant use doors, (like if he has paws as say a dog?) and get him food cus he cant get to it later wu sets up a backup stash of snacks for if he's stuck and cant get help but one of the first times he's stuck it just feels so wrong and scary he freaks out a lot He ends up having to spend the night with one of the others cus he's scared of everything, struglling to sleep or stay calm he eventually chills out and by the time he's awake hes back to its original human form most of the times especially at the start he has to keep doing that buut eventually grows more used to the feeling of being shifted he aslo has a hard time dealing with bigger/more complicated forms (say like a bear, really big animal) and it leaves him more exhausted so he has to be stuck a bit longer along with that same idea, the bigger the form, the worse injuries he already had get, and more can happen from the gain in size he has a stash of bandages on him whenever he leaves the bounty after awhile also small forms like sparrows and cats are his preffered forms, and sometimes he with just shift into them to fly around or take a break the others take that as an excuse to cuddle cat/dog form, cus fluffy lil guy (i therapy comes in fluffy animals/hj) also my guy can't swim very well, even shifted into aquatic creatures, so he avoids it and hangs out with kai if they go swimming'

'thinkin abt my silly shapeshifting dude,, asher in the movie would be sm hurt but also so silly hes so goofy, but man people don't like him at all. they do have a whole world and story set up!!! :D with a pretty..extensive worldbuilding actually (jhbhads)!!!! i dont talk much about the story/plot because sadly i am a bit insecure and also. it changes all the time. but its There!!! id love to talk about it here in the near future!!!!!

theres a lot of things i love about them.. kind of because they all carry a part of me / my experiences in a prettyi d abstract way :] so theyve became very special to me over time!!!!! ive poured a lot of love and own experiences into them ... which does have its cons too jjdshjsd

i honestly like all of the dynamics.. but. i feel like orifiel and mischa make me the Craziest overall for story reasons (which are only vague ideas for now) ..

mostly because theyre two lonely people that ironically are fundamentally very similar but also very different. they are really based on polar opposites and it makes me enjoy them a lot.. mischa who grew up alone and unwanted by his family obsessed over the religious unreachable figure that orifiel was to him and grew up with so many emotions regarding him - love, hate, obsession, admiration, rage, feeling of injustice and jealousy... all without having even met him JKSDKJD

and then theres orifiel, who despite growing up as an object of affection never really got a chance to pour his all into one person.. he grew up with a very warped view of love and affection (it being one-sided and obsessive) and. mischa feeds into it for selfish reasons. and. jesus i dint even know what to say here because my brain is FRIED

orifiel is a very selfish person too in some aspects so ultimately. theyre two lonely selfish nonbinary FREAKS who dont know how a healthy relationship looks like.

at one point in the plot (bad ending?) i have this. thing planned in mind. mischa almost dies since a certain plan goes wrong - and orifiel literally sees Red. like despite all his reason and rationality he resorts to a desperate speedrun of human experiments - the thing that is the core trauma of his childhood :] fellas is it gay to bring back your boy best friend to life but you dont even recognize him anymore . he doesnt even feel human anymore but you cannot bring yourself to lose him . at the same time you wont grant him the mercy of freeing him from the life of being a mindless beast like Omggg whats wrong with you

another bad timeline? ending? thing? VERY VAGUE THOUGH. i had in mind was mischa just. going Wrong at some point . where to guarantee his safety he decides that he must pretend to be the enemy (part of the Church)... hes a wholeass vampire mind you. the church fucking HATES vampires. well . his religious trauma goes bonkers at some point in this timeline and he ends up blackmailing orifiel into increasing the power of the church so that his position of power is guaranteed . hes a bit of a selfish asshole but i accept him anyways .

i feel like i talked a lot about mischa here. but orifiel. jesus Christ girlie. he doesnt even know it but hes self-destructive to an absolutely crazy degree. letting the church do whatever the fuck it wants to do with me ;;3 i have no identity and no name btw ;333 everything is okay and fine. at the same time he also thinks hes the greatest person and entity ever so like idk whats his deal i want to eat him alive

Clowns are an alien species that live for centuries (at MINIMUM)

The majority of america is uninhabitable nuclear wasteland with only the east coast remaining

Phonia in general has been so thoroughly mined out of resources that only a few landmasses and "Oceanbowls" remain and are being held up by large near-indestructable cave systems known as the Nov'ish caverns

Inanimate objects have the tendancy to just sometimes gain sentience and come to life because of magic (like, literally)

Trolls also exist dont forget that either, and their planet is Returnia instead

The planet that Clowns live on (J-Sibler) has become so unlivable to biological life aside from them that the planet is now populated by almost exclusively living balloon animals

Speaking of the sentient objects thing a landfill in one of Phonia's oceans has become an island home to living objects after centuries of garbage had been dumped there and just kinda made it their home

Those caves I mentioned too are home to unbelievably powerful and weird as fuck looking monsters and to some kingdom thats been in dissaray for like the past 5000 years because the three kings ruling it wont get along

Theres literally so many subtypes of "Monster" That I'd be here even longer listing them off, I think right now theres like, eight I think ??? fuck me dude

Other space fairing races are implied to exist as well I just havent gone too far into that yet (if you can beleive that)

Phonia is in a dual star system alongside J-Sibler, rather than one little yellow sun they both orbit two Blue Giant stars, that are also orbiting eachother (and one is somewhat smaller than the other, and as a result it sorta orbits like the planets do)

The suns are also not exactly REGULAR suns neither (in fact none of them are, anywhere) the ones Phonia and J-Sibler orbit are a lightbulb (larger star) and a whale nightlight (smaller star), The "star" that Returnia orbits appears more like a massive fucking firefly (hashtag just bug alien things, yknow)

If im gonna be honest a lot about Trolls is relatively the same I just developed the world with more bullshit but thats for later too theres a lot there

Speaking of h*mestuck related things, all those concepts from the comic are just, every day real shit, including class and aspect alignments- although those tend to have the most cultural relevance to Trolls, Cherubs, and Carapacians specifically, to other races they're mostly written off as just silly fairy tales

🕰️ Has there been an event that happened in your OCs past that affects their future or one that they think about still? Is this a bad event or a good one? What are a few of their childhood memories they can recall?

Junkos past relatively chill (unless i suddenly come up with a reason for it to not be chill, revenant related problems perhaps) but I guess the greatest shift in their life was when they met Rhea! Not only did they suddenly meet someone who could actually hear the echoes they had careried around with themselves their whole life, but Rhea also fueled their passion for music even more. That very first moment of meeting eachother, the first glimpse they got of her, thats probably a moment so important to Junko, something that they think about frequently, if they want to admit it or not.

For childhood memories, I think some key moments are things like getting their first bass, seeing a band they love, little things like that. One of their older brothers is with the pact and was there for the Zhaitan battle, so seeing him come back from that and celebrating the dragons death must have been pretty big! Youd probably expect the whole revenant echo stuff to be a big moment too but to be quite honest, Junko doesnt remember when it even started.

Junko always wanted to go out and explore the world! After all thats why theyre on world tour right now :D While the original plan for that tour was to see the world and relax a bit, and maybe sightseeing, things got out of hand and they ended up being a local hero helping the people they meet with the dangers the dragons and other terrors left behind. SO it's less "checking out these nice places <3" and more "yooo while i was hunting down the nightmare court we found this really sick cave! couldn't stay too long tho cause i got poisoned on the way in and Rhea was also on the verge of bleeding out, but we'll check it again some day :)"

One of Junkos favourite places must've been the black citadel and Charr areas in geneal as well as cantha. The citadel of its very cool badass metal architecture, and Cantha because- We'll they cant hekp but feel at home there. Like something flipped in their head when they got there. Meanwhile, their current least favourite place is Kryta, maybe just because theyre very sick of it :')

💍 Does your OC have a specific item that is priceless to them but may (or may not) be completely worthless to someone else? Is there a story behind this item or is it just because they like it so much?

Rhea likes to carry around some nice sharp looking things she finds! She likes little shiny pointy stuff :) also, she is a medium and comes across some haunted objects every now and then and decides to keep them for a bit to bring them to a place where the spirits can find happiness. a lot of the time, these objects are just little mundane things, junk items. most people don't even know that they carry a spirit in them, so when people see her carry around a vase for days they wouldnt know that theres a lost spirit sitting in there waiting to be carried to their favourite place or familys house.

and of course, this is Rhea we are talking about, and she definetly has some kind of gift from Junko that she treasures so deeply. Maybe its a piece of jewelry, some kind of ring or chain or something, but no matter what it is, it means the world to her and she'd just explode if she were to lose it- for rather obvious reasons <3

OHOOHOHOOHOOOooo youve fallen into my trap my good anon

the emoji reminds me a lot of vocal since she has a lot of outfits and pins featuring sweets n cupcakes(i just haven't drawn them yet. Soon)

so!!! vocal is an alien(kind of) coming from a separate area near hap1 but not near enough to where itd be classified a Part of hap1.

she comes from a cube-like area(haha square world) called the Reflect. mirrors and Vocal's species are created there using an unknown method as of now, but whatever it is it's Good At It. vocal's species are still more rare than mirrors, about 5 mirror species for every one of Vocal's. the Reflect is known quite a bit for it's properties, and every person created there has the same description of it; theres quite a lot of shine, and a lot of eye resemblance and symbolism.

for "shine", theres a lot(and i mean a Lot) of metallical objects and items. for Eye Resemblance, theres quite a lot of culture coming from eyes, sight, and the inner workings of them. many mirrors love making their eyes sparkle and shine, making their eyes look beautiful, making them look almost like gems or twinkling stars. if a mirror has lost their sight, its fine! while they love the workings of eyes, the fact that one of their members cannot see won't stop them from living happy lives(and helping their friend live happy lives as well!)

vocals species, while not having the eyes that mirrors do, still practice the eye symbolism and make themselves look pretty during an event with shining clothing, and eye embroidery in their clothing if wanted.(vocal has a dress with an eye embroider on the back; she loves the dress dearly)

and since their species' head casing can open, they can also decorate her eyes and face if they want as well! even if they are shy and don't let anyone see the sparkles inside their casing, they can still feel happy with the sparkles dimly reflecting in the case.

ok enough abt heritage lets talk about abilities and parallels

vocal has a lot of abilities with herself! her body's main points(chest, arms, and hair) can generate or consume a lot of heat! this can go to the point where they can freeze or boil, at least to the point of uncomfortableness but not enough to inflict pain on herself, only others. her hair is also prehensile, if she has it cool enough she can grab objects with her hair! it's hard to do so but she gets better at it with encouragement trust me

on top of that she is very protective and loving! lili and tyla friday is the only day ever for vocal.

she lives in the higher levels of hap1, usually in a treehouse or the clouds. controlling the weather is the norm but she gets a freebie to electrocute people it's her right

and for parallels she has a lot with her gfs <3 lili is very soft on the outside and even softer on the inside shes very sweet. tyla is very cold most of the time but is a little sweet but only to people she likes. vocal is a mix of both of them, being very contained and having the most believable I Will Murder You attitude but the MOMENT shes alone with her gfs she is literally a Roasted Marshmallow. cavities type sweet

OH last addendum she makes outfits with ame after finding her. pre well incident but yk. uses evil mannequins to make them Queer and create outfits on them(:smirk:)

hmm. that is a strong accusation, n i find it just a bit odd. are you new here? or perhaps you are taking personal offense at my dislike towards a favourite ship of yours and using the lgbt argument as moral high ground?

whatever the case may be, i thank you for asking. if u r truly looking for an answer, its below the cut n it is very very long. mind u these are all my personal opinions n i am in no way policing how others enjoy ships. just in case this wasnt clear; i dont wish to start discourse on this blog, especially since my takes are probably... unpopular.

firstly i would like to address the “disliking lgbt ships” bit, because this has very strong implications in itself. i have nothing against lgbt ships. i enjoy them, even. if the two characters have chemistry between each other, i ship it. however, the moment characterization is broken for the sake of romance, i lose interest. this is generally my stance on ships in general, n this applies for both straight n lgbt ships. 

the ships themselves are fine. however, i do have issues with the ship dynamics, so ill let u in on that.

i want to touch on mlm ships in particular; i believe u are familiar with the top/bottom dynamic that is rampant in these kinds of ships? (i wont deny that this dynamic can be found in other types of ships, but for arguments sake i will be focusing on gay ships because i feel that this occurs more commonly here) its such a popular dynamic that is prone to stripping the personality from one if not both characters, only for them to be reduced to being dominant/submissive. for a character to be pigeonholed into a stereotypical category based on... preferred sexual positions? its just downright insulting, never mind the larger more problematic implications of it. top/bottom is not indicative of someones personality, by the way. flattening multi dimensional characters into these stereotypes is so so so insulting.

unfortunately this is The Most Popular portrayal of just about any gay ship around. ive seen it being used everywhere in so many fandoms n it just about becomes apparent to me that ppl come to stories looking for a Ship. not the stories, nor the characters, just a ship. while id like to say theres nothing wrong with that, keep in mind not everyone is just looking for 2 characters that look pretty next to each other. if i ship something, i see interesting n meaningful interactions between 2 characters, which is so often not the case once u bring in the top/bottom dynamic. why is it so popular? because somehow this is what ppl like from a gay ship n hence it sells. ppl want the drama, characterizations be damned. ppl want to see the big kiss that happens in the end, n maybe the sexy parts that come after. characterizations be damned.

so u can say im a little wary of gay ships when they cross my feed. hell, as a joseph aesop shipper i see this trope everywhere n im pretty disappointed as well. small tangent but i feel like this is the reason why zh0ngli n ch1lde is so popular in g3nshin. i try to see the appeal, i really do, but after a long while of analyzing their respective characters i dont think they have as much chemistry as ppl think they do. dont even get me started on how incredibly ooc they make either of these very interesting n unique characters in ship portrayals. all because of the top/bottom dynamic that ppl want to see. i say this for that particular ship, but this is pretty much the case for a lot of ships out there, n the latter part is painfully true even when the 2 characters do have potential between each other. ill say it again im disgusted by the blatant disrespect to the characterizations if all ppl ever want is 2 pretty puppets to mush lips together. cos thats what theyre essentially reduced to this way.

n its so obvious to see when an artist subscribes to this rhetoric, because u can so clearly see it in the way they draw their characters. the “top” generally has sharper features to go with their “dominating personality”, while the “bottom” has disturbingly softer, feminine, dare i say sometimes child like features “to submit”. n thats where the uwu soft gay trope comes from, i believe. which, in case u still dont know, i hate with a burning passion.

so again for ppl with impaired reading comprehension, im fine with ships, including lgbt ones, but the moment u break characterization for the sake of the ship, im not that okay with it. u want to do it for a short crack comic? fine. but if thats the only way ur portraying the 2 characters then im immediately wary of ur content. ill still look at it cos usually the art is really good, but im very very wary. so im not “adamantly opposed”, just very critical of how the ships are being portrayed. if other ppl want to enjoy their ships like that, sure. just dont expect me to join in on something i dont agree on.

now id like to address not shipping “because i hc aesop as ace”. for ppl who are new to the blog (hello there), im an ace in a romantic relationship, so thats definitely not the reason i dont ship elisop. its more of being in a relationship has largely shaped my views towards romance as a whole. even before i met my boyfriend, i hated the romance genre in stories n media. most of it comes off as incredibly forced, especially those love triangles they seem to love putting into teen novels. thats one reason why i stopped reading when i was younger, but i digress.

did i partake in shipping when i was younger? i did. for a gay ship too (if anyone really wants to know, its kurotsukki from haikyuu. at least this was one that i can remember, i was mostly working on my 20 odd ocs for the longest time). i also used to write little short romance ficlets that i never posted anywhere cos i hated (n still do hate) my writing. but writing romance when u dont have experience was really just a way of projecting n probably a way of coping for myself, not that i knew at that time. but after i actually started a relationship with my boyfriend (whom i love n cherish a lot thank u very much), i began to see how much all these have skewed my views towards romance n have actually done some harm to our relationship. the bullshit that the general media feeds u constantly doesnt help in the slightest either.

quick topic shift to elisop in particular (about time, right?). i already stated that i only ship characters if i sense chemistry between the two personalities, n if u have seen the part where i dont ship elisop then u must have seen how agonized i am over not being able to have a concrete personality for eli. that is the main problem i have with elisop: eli does not feel like a solid character to me. n that is a huge problem, because if he doesnt have any defining characteristics besides being mild n nice, then he can be whoever i want him to be. (i have done this in my exorcist comics, i will admit this. n the fact that i can just do that... it really does not sit well with me personally.)

n that is dangerous.

back to young me doing lil ship things. i think its also pretty safe to say when u really do ship 2 characters, chances are u kinda really relate very very hard to at least one of them. that very quickly can turn into projecting, n shipping therefore is not “exploring the relationship between 2 characters” n it becomes “my preferred dating simulator 101″. of course this isnt always the case, but at least it was for me, n subconsciously it might be for lots of ppl too. n since this is ur mental playground, u call the shots, n there is no consequences if u slightly (or even entirely) alter one or both personalities to fit ur desired narrative. n u wouldnt even notice or know, cos ur blind to ur own biasness.

we bring our perceived notions into real life, im sure u know that. so when ur partner does not become that perfect knight in shining armour, or when they get upset at things that u do (which is a very normal thing by the way), n u think (very subconsciously), That isnt what my otp would do, something is wrong here (nothing is wrong, actually its just ur skewed perception of a stable romantic relationship). why wouldnt ur otp do this? because u are both halves of ur otps, there is no hidden secrets between them (apart from the pining part but thats irrelevant), n again they have been altered to fit ur preferred narrative. 

a real relationship requires a lot of communication between parties, because newsflash, liking someone doesnt mean that u have to like every single thing they do, they will make mistakes n it will hurt u, n guess what, the reverse is also true. if u do go with absoutely anything that they would do with 0 objections whatsoever, ur not crushing on someone, ur idolizing them, n that power imbalance is detrimental to a relationship. these things are not obvious to ppl, especially when the whole climate is hell bent on getting into romantic relationships by a certain age or some bullshit. communication is key n is pretty much the only way to solve relationship issues, because the other person has a lot that u r not seeing n vice versa. as similar as 2 ppl can be, i doubt u can have 100% the same thoughts on all things. i dont make the rules.

so in ur mental playground u focus on the fluffy parts, maybe there is communication, but rarely is there any meaningful conflict. thats unrealistic, n if u bring that mindset to an actual relationship, thats not going to end well. i say meaningful conflict, because yes, generally u shouldnt have conflicts with ur significant other. but inevitably when ur with each other for long enough, u will realize that there are habits that u must change in order to be with the other person. habits that are harmful to the other person directly, or harmful habits towards yourself that indirectly harm the other person. these are meaningful in a sense that if left alone, it will manifest into larger problems that will harm u, the other person n the relationship as a whole. its meaningful to the relationship.

all these is made even worse if ur neurodivergent. maladaptive coping practices, self sabotaging behaviours, inherent disabilities. all these must be adjusted n addressed. im so incredibly thankful for my boyfriend for being incredibly patient with me when working all these out, n it has not been easy for me to work on myself n all my problems, n im still not done working on them. this aspect is often not explored in romance in general (or properly), n there is a very good chance i would have still been stuck in the unhealthy mindset of “this isnt like my otp, maybe we’re not meant to be”. because loving someone is a choice. no one is made for each other, it is a conscious choice made between 2 ppl to make things work. this is how arranged marriages work, i am told, n i do see the appeal, not that it actually does appeal to me culturally.

special mention to the kurotsukki ship, cos from there i found a very, very good fic that explored their relationship before n after getting together, n it actually showed aspects of this problem in the incredibly slow burn of (at that time) 20+ chapters. it was just one fic (n a very good one at that, i believe it was called Leviticus), but it had a lesson i never thought i needed to learn, n learn it i did, with a lot of help from my dear. 

this is also probably the reason why i dont really want to delve too much into romance now. i know its a lot of work, n everything (mostly) that the media feeds u is really false advertising, but ppl eat that shit up n so it remains one of the most popular genres to date. im just very wary that if i do start on a romantic story, i want to be able to show it in a way like that fic did, the truths of relationships, because i dont want to make something that sells, i want to make something that meaningful to me, if a little indulgent. n that also includes being very careful in how the respective characterizations will change in a relationship. almost too careful now that i think about it, but its not something that i mind. i was never one for romance from the start, n now im very careful about shipping because of what happened to me persoanlly.

okay enough about me, lets talk about aesop. in any au u put the character in, the essence of the character must remain despite the change in environment. so lets say we have ur typical modern au. dead mom, check. shitty mentor doing illegal stuff? also check. autistic boy with social anxiety? we’re good to go. all these have implications on aesop as a character, n while ppl are aware of this, again the way they go about portraying it can go, in my personal opinion, very wrong. ppl who immediately woobify aesop completely because he has autism annoy me. ppl who reduce him to uwu soft boi cos he has social anxiety do not know how the disorder really works n as someone who has that i hate it to the core. ppl who do all these for the sake of ship have lost my respect. its insulting.

remember the top/bottom dynamic? not that elisop is completely free from that (even if i dont know much about eli, to put him in either one of those stereotypes feels very insulting to his character. i wont even say anything about doing it to aesop its so upsetting), but its not entirely made up of either. but now i want to introduce another trope i am very wary of, which is “i can fix him”. im sure u guys have seen the meme going around poking fun at this trope (for those who havent, its along the lines of “u can fix him? well i can be his worst nightmare”) n no doubt yall would have seen it n gotten sick of it in some forced hetero romantic bullshit. we have one damsel in distress with a saviour that solves all their problems just by existing n being romo with each other.

remember “my preferred dating simulator 101″? this is not mutually exclusive n from my point of view this is dangerously close to this trope. lets be real, if it was actually a thing that all ur deep rooted trauma magically disappears if someone were to waltz into ur life, we would want it. definitely. no painfully dissecting ur own problems n constantly facing them head on. real life states that this is not the case, but it will not stop us from dreaming. n so this trope is born n lives n will go on.

(finally) pulling aesop n eli into this, at least in my mind, u have one severely traumatized boy with lots of issues n u have this. nice mild guy who can be anything u want him to be. i hope u can see where im going with this, n thats the direction i see some elisop heading towards (i dont read a lot of elisop to be fair). if u came from my eli character talk, i mentioned that it is incredibly one sided. this is exactly what im talking about.

putting it all together in case u havent already, aesop is the damsel in distress, whose problems magically disappear because of elis godly kindness n little to no work on improving himself, n they lived happily n gayly ever after.

can u tell how much that does not appeal to me. 

never mind the butchering of character that inevitably happens somewhere somehow, the unrealistically perfect themes n implications of this trope makes me so viscerally uncomfortable. this is, of course, due to personal reasons, n i definitely see the appeal of this dynamic because i would probably have been interested in this once upon a time as well. but as i am now, with everything i have explained up there n everything i have been through, i would politely rather not.

n its difficult to think of another dynamic, because of how little i know about eli apart from him being this saint, which easily makes him a candidate for being aesops trauma panacea. never mind aesop rarely, if ever, does anything for eli as a character in return, n its so damaging to buy into this rhetoric, where a person like this who would solve all ur issues no strings attached exists somewhere in the world. they really dont. a relationship has to be mutually benefitting, or it will be draining n disastrous. maybe u say, Oh its nice to imagine it once in a while. n yeah, i agree, except once in a while is a little difficult to keep track of n that is sort of what happened to me. id rather stay as far away as possible from this kind of unrealistic fantasy, i just got this shit sorted out with myself n my boyfriend.

i have some other reasons, but theyre more personally problematic, so i wont go into them here. but this is mostly n generally why i do not ship elisop romantically. if u do, u do u, and have fun, but again dont expect me to join u. thank u for coming to my ted talk, this took a lot longer than expected.
