Ok so

Angel subtypes

We have normal angels. Made or heavenborn, they’re pretty typical angels. Except for the gold face markings instead of the stereotypical halo.

Heaven is pretty open and their cities and civilizations are designed for winged objects. Because of this, angels dont need super manuverable wings.

Guardian angels are mainly heavenborn. Young angels born with the specific wings, and taught how to protect and fight from the very start of their life. Then, at a young age they’re sent to the object they’re meant to protect to familiarize and grow up with them. they continue their training on earth though.

Of course, there’s no plan for if the protected object is in danger before that. So the unfortunate angels that end up with those objects dont come out of it exactly, mentally stable.

Made guardian angels are objects that died while trying to protect someone, or still wanting to protect someone. Once the object they’re protecting dies, they’re free to live in heaven as any other angel does.

When a heavenborn guardian angel finishes their job, they’re either assigned another if young enough, or let live in heaven if they help that object live their life to full potential.

archangels are the royalty of heaven, they watch over all of the angels and make sure everything is going perfectly. This takes a toll on them, however, and most are obsessed with keeping heaven “perfect” and “clean of pests” such as demons.

This obsession with a perfect world makes heaven feel strained at times, and angels that grow up under their control have a big fear of authority and self-expression.

At points this can mean frowning upon, excluding or even sending away heaven-born angels to earth who “ruin” the perfect cookie-cutter utopia they try to shove heaven into. This includes physical deformaties, attitudes, mannerisms or viewpoints they dont like.

archangels are also very arrogant in nature, from all the power they have and the society at their fingertips.

On top of this, being an archangel isn’t genetic, its a completely random occurrence. any heavenborn angel could be an archangel, as the traits of one manifest with time and as the individual grows older.

Glamour

Angels also have magic called glamour, which is basically illusion magic. They use it to hide features such as wings or markings when on earth, or simple traits like eye colour or scars. This is limited to themselves though, they cannot glamour others.

Its a variation of the fae glamour, although normal angels have far more limited ability with it. Glamour also drains the user, physically and mentally, and requires some level of focus. There is a point of exhaustion where glamour totally fails, and the user cannot use it until they get some rest. However this only happens after very prolonged use without any break or well, rest.

Normal angels can glamour most of themselves, although not all of them. they could hide specific traits or change the colour of those traits. Such as hiding an arm or changing hair colours.

Guardian angels can glamour all of themselves, so they’re able to become completely invisible or turn a neon pink, for whatever reason.

Archangels can completely alter their appearance, adding to it with extra wings or arms or whatever they wish. They can make themselves appear bigger or smaller than they are, and with very little toll on them. Their magic is far stronger than other angels, so it requires very little focus or effort to keep the glamour up for long periods of time.

Made angels

Made angels are objects that have died and have been good enough in their lifetime to end up in heaven. Or less good enough, and more perfect in the archangel’s eyes. Since the archangels have the final say in who gets into heaven, they often pick and choose to create the perfect dimension.

There is no visual difference between made and heavenborn angels, though made angels tend to fare better in heaven than heavenborn. the pressure from the archangels is defintely still there though.

Heaven

heaven is a sky dimension. all it is is endless sky and clouds, cities built on small floating islands. No non-angel could live there without some sort of flight device.

The cities are designed specifically for angels, with wide spaces and a lack of stairs, instead leaving space for objects to fly from place to place. as well as this, the buildings have a sort of castle look to them, and often expand up and outwards instead of only outwards. similar to a city build mostly up in a canopy, except without the canopy.

Angel culture

so, angels are brought up with the perfectionist mindset. Be perfect, be wellspoken, no conflict, no nothing. As well as this, they have very traditional values, like wanting kids to be married by a certain age, disobedience being absolutely unacceptable, and every celebration or event having to be meaningful and, well, perfect. Although this mindset tends to breed disobedience more than anything.

Despite these ideologies, they’re still against abuse and violence and such, because it breaks the perfect heaven they work towards.

Relationships are strictly between angels and only angels, and monogamy is the only type of relationship properly recognised, polyamorous relationships do exist though. They’re just waaaay less common. Physical affection in public is kept very minimal, though its normal to be affectionate with a partner when alone.

Angels also cant preen their own wings so they get someone they trust such as a family member, close friend, or partner to do it.

Marriage is highly encouraged in angels, and is treated as an essential thing and final stage in relationships, proof that it’s true love basically. which is romanticised to no end.

Angels care a lot about education too, idealising it and believing that an academically smart child is a good child. A high achieving child also helps with appearances, which are a big thing in heaven.

Fallen angels

When an angel does something evil like a crime or something so morally terrible even the archangels are disgusted, they’re thrown from heaven out onto earth, loosing their wings, but keeping their markings, now an inky black. Or they loose their wings and are just, thrown over the edge of the floating cities.
