so here i am. at my parents house. my mom is out for the day. my dad picks me up from the bus stop and he’s like oh i have leftovers from work to eat for dinner, it’s sausage and pasta and broccoli. i say ok bet.

we get home and he says hey you need to open unlock door i have to carry some stuff. i say ok. i go and unlock the door. this man comes out of the car holding an entire catering tray of pasta. i say dad, thats a lot of pasta. he says, yeah and we have to eat all of it before mom gets home i hope you’re hungry.

i was in fact not that hungry but i was not going to say no to pasta.

so he heats up some pasta, dumps a giant bowl in front of me and then says oh guess what we got your cousins daughter for her birthday. and i say what. and he reaches into a bag and pulls out a copy of strega nona and cranberry thanksgiving says here i’ll read it to you.

so here i am. eating a giant bowl of pasta. while my dad reads me children’s books complete with the voices and he shows me all the pictures. absolutely astounding man i love him.

lin lie strikes to me like a man that yearns. he's that one typa guy who's just so in love that can't stop rambling about this pretty, gentle and oh so sweet person he met weeks ago in his favorite restaurant, serving him his food like the sweet angel they are.

to the point where he's visiting you the restaurant daily. sometimes twice a day.

sometimes he'll look at his wallet and siiigh, but everytime he asks about the day's special - even though he knows exactly what the menu has to offer after years eating there - just for you to describe the chow mein they sell at wednesdays, your favorite, in that beautiful voice of yours, he forgets about the - lack of - money in his pocket instantly.

and everytime, he listens patiently with those shiny eyes and a warm smile that looks a bit too much like a teenager's that's so helplessly in love. or a puppy that's so excited to meet it's favorite person.
