I think for me it's the fact that Brandon was narratively pushing so hard for the reader to hate Moash/believe that Elhokar is a good person deep down. If it were all presented neutrally and left up to the reader's judgement, I think I'd be a lot less irritated with Elhokar.

As it stands, it seems like Brandon was banking on everyone being super sad that Elhokar didn't have a chance to redeem himself. I don't doubt that he could have written a satisfying redemption arc for Elhokar (see Dalinar, Szeth), but given what we were shown of the man I didn't feel the least bit cheated when he was denied yet another second chance.

Also a lot of the points Brandon seems to count in Elhokar's favor (proof of his potential for goodness) just don't hold up for me. "He's Dalinar's Tien." No, a grown man being asked to do his damn job is not equivalent to a child being conscripted and thrown out to die on the front lines. "He was trying, storm it!" Bitch, where? He's spent the past two books framing his uncle for treason for attention, throwing parties that would make Louis XVI blush (in the middle of a war, mind you), and mismanaging his country to the point where fourteen-year-old boys are being conscripted to fight in a constant churn of low-level civil war. His supposed character development in Oathbringer consists of him Karening out on a couple of guards, failing to throw the expected hissy-fit when he has to disguise himself as a woman, and looking photogenic when Shallan sketches him.

The way he's written, it seems like Brandon initially planned for him to be younger. This would all be a bit more sympathetic if he'd been thrown onto the throne in his late teens/early twenties, or if he'd been a second son who was never supposed to inherit but had to step up with zero training when, say, his older brother dies alongside Gavilar. But instead we get this poor baby boy of thirty-seven who just can't be expected to know that you don't have people executed for bruising your ego, and we all have to be patient while he learns.

Sorry that got rant-y towards the end.

Hey Stormlight fans why are we so quick to forgive Dalinar for killing innocents- including his own wife, but when it comes to Elhokar, whose worst crimes were just being immature and incompetent- both of which come from not being ready to inherit the throne- he's unforgiveable?

Do yall actually think Elhokar is irredeemable because he let Moash's grandparents die?? If so then yall should really take a good long look at Dalinar's arc and compare it to where Elhokar is when he's swearing the First Ideal, because Dalinar at his lowest on the whole was far worse than Elhokar ever was

Once I was thirsty and my mind went "I need fuel" LIKE HUH? AND THIS HAPPENED A COUPLE OF TIMES how did it get this bad that my brain thinks im v1 ultrakill

When my illness started I bought the lustfully beautiful v1 bodypillow..........and everyday since, I wait for it to arrive, I count the days with no v1 the hours that it's still not here with me.. Me v1 and little printed out cut out of v1 in my hand with my v1 sketch book with my bad v1 drawings inside of my v1 sketchbook my v1 while I am v1 sketchbook but no. No V1

I described vile disgusting sinful things that I would do to it when it arrives in that review... I am filled with regrets. I'm sorry v1 ultrakill

When I played 4-2 secret I started crying

Everytime I read a "yayy" in my v1 filled head I read it in its voice it's a v1 reference. (The giananni steams have this sample of v1 saying yayy if you don't know what I'm referencing)

Q. Are you going to see more days?

A: I was originally aiming for there to be 5 days in total when it comes to the full game. When you enter the cabin, Day 3 starts and then you have to make certain choices to possibly make it all the way to Day 7.* In the very very old script that's not canon anymore, there was only one route and I wrote all the way to Day 5(?) before I stopped using it. Right now, I'm still going through everything since there's more than one route currently so we'll see.

Q. What would Noah do if we were someone who loves physical contact?

A: Noah would be more approachable about it if the player(Y/N) told him. It's not that he wouldn't mind it but this is a gesture he wouldn't expect, at least for a while. He'd need time to adjust since from his perspective, you were gone for two and a half days so he doesn't fully trust you. He would try to be engaging through small gestures and would probably start off with a few boundaries but with trust being established, he'd eventually warm up to the company and solace being shared.

Q. Does Noah prefer sweet or spicy?

A: Noah loves spicy food and there's hints to this in the [Extended Demo], it might be pretty vague though. I'm still going through the script which mentions this and making it a little more obvious based on your choices. Fun fact: As far as sweet goes, Candy corn is Noah's favorite candy, he prefers chocolate pieces of candy over sweet candy. Here's the post this comes from. :P

Q. Would Noah match with us in a set of clothes/pajamas?

A: Yes! Noah finds the idea of couple themed fits endearing. Fun fact: I had some old concept sketches from Halloween/Fall I wanted to finish up that were matching couple Halloween costumes etc. and I think one pajama set doodle but I ran out of time since I was very busy during spooky month. :,]

How to Paint: Canopy Glass (pt. 1)

I promised it so here it is- my breakdown of a couple different techniques I use for painting glass canopies on my miniatures. Because of tumblr's dumb image limit and the different ways I go about painting glass we're going to be doing this as a multipart series. Today I'll be starting with a 'flat black' reflective glass.

Paints I used:

AP Matt Black (black)

Citadel Mechanicus Standard Grey (grey)

Citadel Dawnstone (light grey)

AP Spaceship Exterior (grey off-white)

Citadel Ardcoat (gloss varnish)

Method

First, finish the details around your canopy glass. I usually find that getting the rest of the model in a finished state means I end up with less overpainting on the canopy and I can choose my glass colors to compliment the rest of the scheme. Once you're ready to begin, block in your glass areas with black.

Next, we're going to build up a slight gradient in the color. Start by taking your grey paint and sketching a diagonal line across your glass panel from corner to corner, then paint in the area above that line with grey. Once that area is blocked in, mix your grey with a little of your black to make a slightly darker grey, then sketch over the same line as before. You should have a triangle of black on the bottom of the panel, a triangle of grey on the top, and then a thin line of darker grey in between the two.

This should be easier to do with square or rectangular panels like the Firefly's main window, but it can be a little trickier for curved or irregularly shaped windows. I recommend completing the 'least wierd' panel first and then using that as a guide to complete all the other panels similarly.

Next we're going to continue to build up the light parts of the canopy. Take a thin brush and your light grey paint and sketch an upside down 'L' centered inside the grey part of the glass. You want this to be just ever so slightly in from the edge of the glass panel, so a small ammount of the darker grey is still visible above and to the side of the light grey. Once this is dry, take your off-white grey and dab a small dot into the corner of the 'L' as your brightest highlight. Finally, as an optional step you can brush all of the glass with a little gloss varnish like ardcoat to give it a nice reflective shine.

And our first glass technique is done! Outside of just flat color for extremely tiny vision slits this is my most basic style of canopy. I find this strategy works best for smaller canopies made of flat planes where the tight space doesn't leave much room for more elaborate techniques and different viewing angles don't dramatically change what of the glass you can see so you can easily paint in a basic reflection with it looking off from some directions. This works best for mechs like the Shadow Hawk or Wolverine, as well as on any color scheme where you don't want an elaborate canopy to draw attention away from other nearby details. In the next two parts I'll go over some techniques that work better with more space or struggle less on more geometrically complex canopies.

FS: You’re not the active type, even back in school. You don’t have any idea on what actually goes down in the split seconds, nor any say on what it takes. You’ll let a perfectly good opportunity waltz by as you try to come up with some half clever scheme!

CS: You’ve never thought ahead once in your life. You always rush headlong into things and end up in a bigger mess than what was originally there. Or even create a mess because you didn’t know left from right!

FS: At least I choose to do something instead of sit back like a coward!

CS: I’ve seen better intelligence in a monkey than anything you try to pull!

???: Guys!

FS and CS: WHAT?!

Art Student: You two need to find something to make up, your arguments almost broke my concentration several times. Guh. My farsighted isn’t great, but I did manage to get as much information on the inside as I could. *hands over a stack of papers with sketches of the building and the insides*

CS: That’s great! The more intelligence we have the better we can plan ahead.

FS: Just point out where the boss man is so I can get in there and knock his head in.

AS: At least tell me you can tell what it’s supposed to be? I’m an abstract expressionist not a realist.

FS: Looks clear enough for me.

CS, flipping through the drawings: Ok, so a dozen and so cultists, a couple of horses, a loft, I guess that’s a weapons rack, so far so expected. Hey, what’s the story with this one?

AS: Which one? Sorry my headache hasn’t given me my sight yet so everything’s kinda blurry still.

CS: The one guy with more details than the rest.

AS: Dunno yet. I can only draw what I see using my Sight. I don’t know what it is I’m looking at until I see what I drew.

FS: That sounds stupid.

AS: They say that it’ll get better with time. Right now I’m too low level for that. Huh, that one guy is a lot more detailed than the rest. Weird.

CS: I didn’t get all the details on your Ability. Why is this so important?

AS: My mentor said something about things that I’m more familiar with tend to come out clearer. People I know, places I frequent, they stick out a lot more. Even if the place has changed significantly like a fire or battle happened, or if a person is wearing a disguise or something.

FS: So who would be so familiar to you in this random group of cultists?

Realization dawns on the assembled trio.

FS: Ok CS, your plan is good. We surround the building and- huh?

AS: I just blinked. Where did CS go?

CS, punching a hole into the wall of the building like the Kool Aid man: YIPPE KAI YAY MOTHER FUCKERS!! WHERE YOU AT BLORBO?!

MC, who infiltrated the Cult to feed the local militia information: How the hell do you guys keep finding me?!

The standard 'entire class gets isekai'd to a fantasy world and the outcast MC is basically discarded' anime setting, where the MC, now assumed dead, decides to instead help the class of Heroes in the shadows, making sure they live up to what the people need.

However, the entire class knows that he's alive and are hellbent on dragging that son of a bitch back into the spotlight and to give him the recognition he deserves.

(And maybe because he was basically the entire class's Little Guy™.)
