More on LJ
That post is already long af, so here are my thoughts on replies:
Also, a feature that a lot of people liked and miss on tumblr are the communities. You could argue the tags kind of serve as the same but… idk.
olderthannetfic well, tumblr is apparently about to introduce a community feature. Do you have any interest in trying it out?
Yup! I wasn't as into communities as a typical LJ user, so I often forget to talk about them, but having a central place that isn't a site-wide tag makes a big difference. You can't kick bad actors out of a tumblr tag. The mod of a com can.
I'm intrigued by Tumblr's new feature. We'll see how it works in practice.
I submitted a fandom history/meta community. I have no idea what their moderation process looks like.
i miss anon kinkmemes :(
Yeah, tumblr isn't great for those. Dreamwidth is where they live these days.
The threaded comments aren't essential for fandom meta discussions, no matter what people used to think...
But they are more or less essential for certain other functions, like kinkmemes.
I do also think some of the change came about from the devices primarily used to access the platforms. Back in the day, monitoring software wasn't an issue, so you got away with using work or school computers. LJ and its threaded format was easy to navigate on a computer. On a phone, the UI didn't quite translate (without a good understanding of mobile CSS). So, image heavy and scroll-based UIs became the norm.
Agreed. DW comments are a pain to expand on mobile. Or at least they were. I haven't been on DW much in a few years, and I know they were working on their mobile
And I think it was just a better time for the Internet in general, before world governments starting running psy op campaigns at scale and before everything was an addiction based ad revenue model and before venture capitalists had their hands in every big site
I'm not quoting all of your comments (people should go read them on the other post), but yes, yes, and yes! LJ had an older internet vibe in a good way, and it not being a cash grab originally is a big part of why.

Hey! So, remember when I asked you guys to keep an eye out for updates? Well, this is Update #1!
We've made a blog: @sterek-roundrobinchallenge.
There are no posts, as of yet, but we'll be getting to that soon! Rules and some other fun stuff would be posted soon.
Dear Sterek Fans...
@greyhavenisback and I were talking about stuff when I blurted out one of my desires, and this post is the result!! This is essentially an Interest Check for a Round Robin Challenge, which I believe originated in the BBC Merlin fandom.
The idea is to bring together a select few authors and write one fic, piece by piece. Remember, each author’s comfort is important, so we will make sure that everyone’s triggers and other concerns are taken seriously. Those who will not do so would be removed from this… event, I think, is what we could call this? Or just plain old fun, where we also take care of each other!
Keep reading
#teen wolf events#teen wolf#sterek#derek hale#stiles stilinski#sterek rrc#listen. if y'all are on pc you can check out some stuff like rules and all. it's there. i just haven't gotten around to posting it#but i will be posting them soon!!! again. please keep an eye out!#there will also be a mobile navigation post dw.

Hii so sorry for bothering you but, I love writing as well I’ve been doing it for so long and now I’d like to post it on tumblr. The problem is that I don’t really know how to use it(gifs, text colors,…) if it’s okay with you could you maybe help me or give me some tips?
I started my blog like 4 days ago so i totally get the struggle! i looked around and took some inspiration from other creators and tried to recreate them as best as i could w my own style!
For the text colors, just select the text u want to edit and there will be an option where u can change the colors ( i think it’s only for mobile? i couldn’t see the option on desktop)
But the format doesn’t rlly matter! Having fun and expressing urself through ur writing is more important!
i’m not rlly good at giving tips i’m sorry😭 i’m also a newbie at navigating things here but dw! u can do this 🔥🔥🔥

Furthermore, I have checked on your blog from pc view and the layout is such a beauty! (´>∀<`)♡
The grids, the fonts, the organization of each "window tab" or category is very neat (*゚ロ゚*)
Plus points for the Yae Miko chibi at the bottom right (which is actually Qiqi lol) + Raiden Shogun with dango chibi on the other side (ฅ¯ω¯ฅ )💓 IT'S SO CUTE! They look like stickers to accompany you while you scroll throughout your blog 😤
What I also LOVE is that the moving "Welcome to the Penpal Station!" sign near the navigation buttons.
All in all, it's a really aesthetic blog and easy to the eyes(Not sure for the ones with high brightness tho). I haven't actually gone through each and every link available in the pc layout (bc the signal is very very bad lmao) but I'm sure each will take me on a visually sweet surprise !!
I would also like to share my thoughts that I think your blog would be a mochi, if it were to be a food. I could feel the squishy, soft and round corners of it with just one look at your blog that is a mixture of complimenting purples and pinks (๑¯ㅁ¯๑)
*noms on your blog and im not leaving any leftovers*
>> I don't really wanna include this here in my blog appreciation post but I've been meaning to ask (and I might forget later that's why) on how do you fix your blog's layout on desktop customly? I'll probably just do this on another ask. I was curious as to how you are able to replace the feed tabs as "window tabs" and such 🤔 I'm a mobile user so it was really different for me HAHAHA <<
My asks always gets so long lmao I hope you don't mind. Tell me if you do mind. but at least I hope this could make your day better, especially when you're totally not having it today! :D
— Would definitely navigate the stars with you, 🍰.
im super super okay with long asks since i LIVE for these type of asks, you can make your asks as long as you like 😍😍😍
im relieved that my desktop theme is okay for you :DD it’s actually my first time doing custom layout (i felt like a boomer 💀💀) so its great to know that i did a good job on the theme <33 its kinda funny how you think my theme is like a mochi bcuz i was literally eating one while editing the desktop layout ✋✋✋
as for your question, i’ll try my best to make it sound easy to understand (because as a mobile user, i was absolutely confused with the whole thing back then until i explored it)
it’s a super easy thing to do: you just need to look for “edit html” and it’ll take you to where there’s a lot of codes displayed.
and don’t worry - you don’t have to write anything on the codes because you can just copy paste ! there’s a lot of tumblr accounts here who makes free customized themes just for you. if a certain customized theme catches your eye, you can just go download it (aka lead you to a website where you can copy all of the codes) and paste it. be sure to remove all the original codes b4 you paste it tho !
once you pasted all the codes, just save it and voila, you have your new and customizable layout !! dw, you can edit the colors, fonts, size of posts, etc. (and even play music) :DDD
i hope this helps you comrade, if you’d like me to recommend you tumblr accounts with good themes, i suggest @/glenthemes / @/seyche / @/ricecodes / @/xuethms / @/mintrps :DDD

Hi! i was wondering, how you do your masterlist & other links? i recently started using my Tumblr way more again and i want to use it to make my own fics again and to post my own works. Sorry if this question is dumb, hope im not bothering you ! ;u;
Hello nonnie!! Dw your questions aren't dumb at all :) you're also not bothering me! i love to help out :3 sorry it took me so long to get to this!! I’d love to read your stuff if/ when you post more :3
(Stuff is below the cut :) )
—So as for general layout, I use ibis paint to get those thin little strips I use everywhere :) choose a colour that matches your blog (or whatever you wanna use) and go to ibisPaint! Go to canvas (or the little plus button) and you want your width to be 2400 and height like 20 (or however thick you want it to be). Then after the canvas is created, go to the layers and press the little camera :3 then allow access to photos and select the image you like! Then make it bigger so it fits and click the check Mark! If it asks for exact line drawing press cancel and you’re all set! Save the image and use it wherever you like!
—for links I mostly use my laptop as it’s easier to navigate! As far as I know, the post has to already be published for you to link it. So, post what you want to and then have two tabs open (it makes it easier). On the first tab have the place you wanna link your work on (ie. a Masterlist. I’m using my navi as an example) and on the second have the work you wanna link. Highlight the url of the post you wanna link and copy it. Then go to the place you wanna link it on and click edit. After being in edit, highlight the words of where you want to place the link and click the little infinity button :) paste your url and click done. Then click open to make sure it’s linked properly! Finally press save and now your content should be linked properly! When you open it on mobile or on the computer it should work properly! (But I always check on both to make sure :3 )
—everything else is really just choice of font and aesthetics. My blog is laid out for my brain to best understand cause it annoys me when I’m trying to go through someone’s Masterlist and it confuses me. I hope this clears up your confusion and that I’m not too late to help! Send me an ask if I didn’t cover everything you were looking for! Best of luck in posting !! :3
—also sorry if I answered you ask completely wrong and how long it took to reply to this :/

Monthly Report | January 2019
To: Agents of Blackwatch and Overwatch Subject: New Headquarters Dear agents, welcome back! We hope you spent nice holidays and that you had a chance to recharge and rest. We hope the new year finds you ready for new adventures and full of motivation.
Last month we were talking about moving to new headquarters, and after two weeks of work the new platform is finally ready! We’re incredibly excited to introduce you to its new functionalities!
Of course this blog (with its shiny new layout!) will remain active, as our twitter. We’re not moving out, we’re just opening up to new ways to experience fandom and creativity, and we hope you — all 640 of you! — will be willing to come with.
Keep reading to find out more about what changed and what stayed the same.
[keep reading report? y/n]
First of all, you can find our new headquarters here:
https://overwatchevents.dreamwidth.org/
What’s new?
hosting and crossposting events: we will host events as well as tracking them, and we’ll cross-post events from our platforms ie. pillowfort, tumblr and twitter (with their original poster’s permission, of course).
offering our agents a platform to host their events: as long as you have an account on dreamwidth and join our community, you can make posts. There’s no need to make another sideblog for that ship/character week you always wanted to organise- just click ‘post to community’ and do it!
letting our agents request events: you don’t want to get an account on dw or you don’t want to disclose your identity? we have a special request post where you can submit your event anonymously! Comments on this post are invisible to the public.
kinkmeme (18+): anonymously leave and fill (kinky) prompts!
track this: thanks to this functionality, every time someone replies to a post you can receive a notification. Our new zine applications tracking post works like this, so you won’t ever miss out on zine apps again, but you can also follow that ship event you really craved content for!
new masterlists: we’re still using carrd.co as a global event masterlist because it’s nicely readable from mobile, but you can find our zine masterlist over here
What’s staying the same?
sharing on twitter and tumblr: we’ll still reblog and retweet your posts and we’re gonna announce about events happening on our community through twitter, so turn those notifications on!
a ship-inclusive, kink-inclusive space: you can organise event about any ship and character you want, as long as it’s appropriately tagged.
no anti behaviour will be tolerated: which means that you can’t exclude people from joining your event because once they reblogged that ship you find gross. On the other hand we accept events that exclude ships (ie, you can’t submit entries containing X ship, but x-shippers can join).
Feel free to ask for clarification or help through the following channels:
twitter @ovwevents (remember to turn notifications on!)
email: watchpointevents [at] gmail [dot] com
dreamwidth: test our new askbox!
The highlights for this month:
There’s a new discord server for all SymPharah shippers!
McGenji Mystery Maker’s gifts have been revealed!
02-08 january: Peapod McHanzo Week is back for 2019!
So, these are the news. We’re still figuring things out so for the next month or so things are bound to not work as they should or to change pretty often, but bear with us- we’re still learning ourselves how to navigate the new space.
We’re looking for affiliates! If you have a fandom community on dreamwidth or pillowfort, or an events blog on tumblr or twitter, or a discord server let us know! We’ll promote you on our sticky post and/or monthly reports.
To a 2019 of creativity. Together.
- Mod Zenyatta

Home prices could cool when the Fed tapers its bond-buying program. But a crisis? Unlikely.
U.S. home prices have been rising at a record annual pace in recent months, fueled in part by historically cheap credit, the absence of properties for sale, and the scramble by households for more space as families have fled to the suburbs during the pandemic.
Can the good times last when the Federal Reserve finally cuts back on buying mortgage and Treasury bonds? Here’s how mortgage rates and a less gargantuan central bank footprint could impact the heated U.S. housing market.
“The Fed is certainly talking and thinking about it,” said Kathy Jones, chief fixed income strategist at the Schwab Center for Financial Research, on the subject of how the Federal Reserve could scale back the central bank’s $120 billion a month bond-buying program.
But Jones also thinks tighter credit conditions, likely via higher borrowing rates as the Fed tapers its bond buying program, might end up being a saving grace for today’s housing market.
“Housing prices could certainly pull back, after accelerating so fast,” she said, pointing to households fighting over the few properties available to buy, while navigating work from home. “At some point,” she said, mortgage payments on high-priced homes “become unsustainable with people’s incomes.”
“But I don’t see a big housing debacle.”
How to pump the brakes on housing
The central bank has maintained a large footprint in the mortgage market for more than a decade, but the worsening affordability crisis in the U.S. housing market led Fed officials to walk a tightrope recently when trying to explain its ongoing large-scale asset purchases during the pandemic recovery.
Fed officials in recent weeks have expressed a fair bit of disagreement around the timing and pace of any scaling back of its large-scale asset purchases.
St. Louis Fed President James Bullard said Friday the central bank should start to slow down its bond purchases this fall and finish by March, saying he thought financial markets “are very well prepared” for the reduction in purchases.
During a midweek press briefing, Chairman Jerome Powell said tapering likely would start with agency mortgage-backed securities (MBS) and Treasury bonds at the same time, but also “the idea of reducing” mortgage exposure “at a somewhat faster pace does have some traction with some people”.
The blue line in the chart below traces the central bank’s balance sheet and abrupt path to a $8.2 trillion balance sheet since 2020 when its efforts to support markets during the pandemic began, with the red line representing its Treasury TMUBMUSD10Y, 1.232% holdings and green line its MBS. MBB, +0.02%
Fed holds major cards in MBS and Treasury markets
St. Louis Fed data
As of July 29, the Fed was holding about 31% of the roughly $7.8 trillion agency MBS market, or housing bonds with government backing.
“You could make the case that the Fed owns almost one-third of the agency mortgage bond market, and that it might make sense to loosen its grip,” Jones said, particularly as Powell has played down a direct link between its MBS purchases and climbing home prices.
It may now seem like a distant memory, but before the pandemic upheaval, that was precisely what the Fed was trying to do.
“Who would have thought,” said Paul Jablansky, head of fixed income at Guardian Life Insurance, that the U.S. would be in the midst of “one of the frothiest housing markets in history,” following last year’s extreme pandemic shutdowns that closed businesses, workplaces and national borders.
“Occasionally people ask, are we at the peak?” said Jablansky, a 30-year veteran of the mortgage, and asset-backed and broader bond market. “We are outside the balance of our experience, so it’s very difficult to say we are at the peak,” he told MarketWatch.
“I do think house price inflation will have to slow down dramatically. But maybe the biggest question is, can we see housing prices go negative? I think the Fed will work very, very hard to create a soft landing in house prices.”
Schwab’s forecast has been for the Fed to kick things off by reducing its monthly asset purchases by $15 billion to $105 billion. That would mean cutting $10 billion from its current $80 billion monthly pace of Treasury purchases and $5 billion from its $40 billion monthly pace of MBS.
“So far, we haven’t changed that,” Jones told MarketWatch.
While the Fed doesn’t set long-term interest rates, its mass buying of Treasurys aims to keep a lid on borrowing costs. Treasury yields also inform the interest rate component of 30-year fixed-rate mortgages. So perhaps, scaling back both at once makes sense, Jones said.
Misremembering the 2013 taper
Fed Chair Powell said on Wednesday that the central bank’s “substantial further progress” standard for unemployment and inflation in particular hasn’t been met yet, while stressing that he’d like to see more progress in the jobs market before easing its monetary policy support for the economy.
Powell also frequently has talked of lessons learned from the market upheaval of 2013, the “taper tantrum” that rattled markets after the central bank began talking about taking away the punch bowl, as the economy healed from the Great Recession of 2008.
“What we need to remember,” Jablansky said, is that markets sold off in anticipation of tapering, not the actual pull back in asset purchases. “Later in the year, the period [former Fed Chair Ben] Bernanke was talking about, the Fed actually continued to buy assets, and the amount of accommodation it provided to the economy actually went up.”
Historically, the only stretch where the Fed has actively withdrawn its support occurred between 2017 and 2019, following its controversial, first foray into large-scale asset purchases to unfreeze credit markets post 2008.
“It’s very difficult to draw a lot of conclusions from that real short period,” Jablansky said. “For us, the conclusion is that 2013 may be instructive, but the circumstances are really different.”
See: Why the Fed’s balance sheet is expected to top $9 trillion after it starts reducing its monthly asset purchases
The message from Powell consistently has been about preserving “maximum flexibility, but to go very slowly,” said George Catrambone, head of Americas trading at asset manager DWS Group.
Catrambone thinks that may be the right strategy, given the uncertain outlook on inflation, evidenced by, the recent spike in the cost of living, but also because of how significantly many of our lives have changed because of the pandemic.
“We know that a used car won’t cost more than a new car forever,” Catrambone said. “Do I think the housing market slows down? It could. But you really need the supply, demand imbalance to abate. That could take a while.”
Extreme wildfires, drought and other shocks of climate change have been tied to $30 billion in property losses in the first half of 2021, while putting more patches of land and U.S. homes in the path of danger. While these were less frequent housing market topics in 2013, the pandemic also changed the whole notion of “what is safe” for many families.
“Migratory patterns tend to be sticky,” Catrambone said, of the flight out of urban centers to suburbia.
What’s more, the delta variant fueling a new wave of COVID-19 cases has led to stricter masking and vaccination policies, including at Alphabet Inc., GOOG, -0.97% Facebook Inc. FB, -0.56% and others, but also delayed plans by many big companies to return staff to offices buildings.
“This probably doesn’t help occupancy rates for commercial real estate, with more people likely staying closer to home,” Catrambone said, but it likely adds to the already high “psychological value placed on housing.”
After touching record highs, the S&P 500 index SPX, -0.54%, Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.42% and Nasdaq Composite Index COMP, -0.71% closed Friday and the week lower, but booked monthly gains.
On the U.S. economic data front, August kicks off with manufacturing and construction spending data, followed by motor vehicles sales, ADP employment and jobless claims, but the main focus of the week will be the monthly nonfarm payrolls report on Friday.

How to Add a Forum to Your WordPress Website | Templified
New Post has been published on https://templified.com/how-to-add-a-forum-to-your-wordpress-website/
How to Add a Forum to Your WordPress Website
WordPress is definitely one of the most conventional, and easy to navigate platforms to hold your website in. If you already have a WordPress site, chances are, you are able to reach out to a good number of readers—no matter how many they are—because of how easy it is to add tags, categories, and make your posts known in the cyber world.
Then again, if you already have a handful of readers, don’t you think that it would be nice to add a forum to WordPress? You see, even in this day and age, speaking in forums, finding people who like the same things that you do, and finding a community of people whom you can engage in honest, smart conversations with is still helpful. It is still a way of reaching out to others, and fostering your own community.
But just like a lot of bloggers and site owners, you may be asking the questions: Are there any WordPress forum plugins around? Can you actually add a forum to WordPress? Well, the answer to both of these questions is an absolute and resounding yes!
And how do you make it happen, then? Read on, and you will easily learn how.
Use BuddyPress
First and foremost, you can make way for WordPress BuddyPress Forums by using the BuddyPress plugin, of course. This is one of the most well-known—and probably the most popular way—on how you can add a forum to WordPress.
One thing you should know about BuddyPress is that it is rich in a gallantry of amazing features. It is pretty much a great, powerful community plugin that can provide you with a forum, user profiles, notifications, activity streams, and groups that can keep you sane, inspire, and motivate you in the crazy online world.
Some of the best things that BuddyPress can do are the following:
Provide an internal communication tool for your website / company / service—so there will be no need to use the confusing Facebook messenger, or some of those very unprofessional chat apps that are better used for personal conversation, rather than professional ones;
A campus-wide social network for your college, school, or university—to keep conversation exciting, and safe, at the same time;
Focused communities for services and products—so that you will have a better idea of who are patronizing your niche, and get their opinions to help make your work better;
Niche / social specific groups, so you can foster camaraderie among your readers, and;
The best part is that it provides you with an intelligent, enhanced forum experience that you probably have not tried anywhere else!
WordPress BuddyPress Forums are also open-source, making sure that you will not have a hard time getting hold of them, and that you can turn your website into a more prolific, engaging community—definitely way better than just a simple blog.
However, if you feel like this is not the best thing for you, well, you will be glad to know that there are other WordPress Forum Plugins around—and you can get to know them below.

And from there, you already know that you will not have a hard time moderating this forum because it would not be too cluttered for you—which is especially helpful if you are still a beginner in the online blogging community. It also makes use of the following philosophies:
That it will always stay open source ;
That simplicity will always be its main feature;
That less code is more—again, perfect for beginners, and;
That it will always be secure and speedy!
Aside from that, you can also be sure that you will be able to get a fully integrated central account—all in a one-click install process, which is something that most plugins cannot give! Upon doing so, you can then divide your site into sections—so members who have nothing to say about certain topics could just go and talk about what they want to—making sure that animosity would not rule your site!

German WWII wreck poses threat of eco-disaster in Poland | Europe| News and current affairs from around the continent | DW
The Franken was a floating gas station. The ship supplied the German navy operating in the Baltic Sea with fuel during World War Two. The tanker had a capacity of up to 10,000 tons of fuel. Hit by Russian torpedoes, it sank near the Hel Peninsula off Gdansk on April 8, 1945, some its tanks still well-filled.
After the war, international law of the day stipulated that the wreck was now Polish property. At the time, recovering the Franken was unprofitable. “It just sat there and wasn’t in anyone’s way,” says Benedykt Hac of the Maritime Institute in Gdansk.
But that has now changed, Hac, an experienced navigator and captain, says. The question is not whether a disaster will happen, but when, he warns.
Ticking time bomb
According to the most recent report on the tanker’s condition, there are still 3,136 m³ (828,444 liquid gallons) of fuel on board. A significant amount, about 60 percent of the ship’s cargo, was lost during the attack, but there is still a lot left, says Hac. Thanks to “good German engineering,” he says, some of the tanks are still intact.
Several of the fuel tanks, shown here in pink, are still full
But even the best engineering can’t change the laws of physics. The salt water is causing the steel of the tanks to corrode at a rate of 1 millimeter (0.039 inch) per decade. Over the past seven decades, 7 of the 12 millimeters of the tank walls may very well have vanished. If the hull corrodes even further, the wreck could collapse under its own weight, which could trigger an uncontrolled leak, Hac asserts — with dramatic consequences for the environment.
To make things worse, the Baltic Sea is an inland sea that is currently experiencing an unusually slow exchange of water with the neighboring North Sea. “As a scientist, I can’t remain silent,” Hac says.
‘Extremely important project’
Hac and his team unsuccessfully sought help in the matter for years. The cost of salvaging the fuel load is estimated at between €8 million ($9.4 million) and €20 million, which includes insurance and ordnance disposal. Poland’s Mare foundation launched an information campaign, and theGerman Baltic Sea Conservation Foundation ( Baltcf ) sponsored a pilot project to raise public awareness of the eco-threat. However, funds covered only the examination of the wreck from the outside and the development of methods and guidelines for the recovery of the hazardous materials on board and of standard procedures and implementation strategies for the authorities.
There’s no time to lose, says Baltcf Managing Director Peter Torkler, adding that in view of the dynamic economic development in Gdansk Bay and the advancement of tourism in the area, it should be regarded as an “extremely important project.”
In February of this year, the Baltcf decided to help with the Polish project, and on April 23, 2018, two Polish research ships from the Baltic Sea dive base, the IMOR and the LITORAL, joined in. Divers spent about 60 hours under water, 13 of them on the wreck. An information campaign was launched and an online petition to the Polish government to clean the Franken’s tanks was posted by the Mare foundation, with more than 45,000 people signing so far.
Saving the ecosystem
“We’re not out to condemn anyone but are trying to mobilize people to save the ecosystem of Gdansk Bay,” says Olga Sarna, president of the board of the Mare foundation.
It’s also about “breaking the silence,” adds Peter Torkler, pointing out the Gdansk Marine Institute’s unsuccessful attempts to gain the interest of authorities.
However, in July, the Polish shipping minister, Marek Grobarczyk, at least set up a special team to solve the problems caused by the Franken, and the environmental activists are hoping, with his ministry’s backing, to receive EU emergency financing for the salvage operation.
The Franken is a disaster waiting to happen, experts say
Avoiding a precedent
German authorities, for their part, have been guarded in their response to the Franken case.
The wreck is in Polish waters, says Carolin Zerger from the Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU). She has suggested that Poland contact the expert group “SUBMERGED” from the Helsinki-based marine protection commission HELCOM, which assesses the environmental risks of hazardous objects submerged in the Baltic Sea.
Peter Torkler is not surprised at the German authorities’ attitude.
“Nobody wants to set a precedent,” he says. “Wrecks are a huge problem because there are thousands of them. This is something people don’t like to talk about in public.”
Cooperation is key
All the same, at an event in May, Germany’s Federal Foreign Office International Club (ICAA), an association of current and former German diplomats, put the issue on their agenda.
Peter Torkler believes that is a good sign. “After we saw how well the campaign is doing in Poland, we are now wondering what forums and institutions might take on the project in Germany,” he says.
It may be a major enterprise, Torkler says, but he is confident that “if everyone affected by this problem works together, we can achieve a lot together with Germany and Poland.”

Germany's first driverless bus takes to the roads
Germany's first self-driving public bus has made its maiden journey on the roads of a rural town in Bavaria, taking locals from the train station to the town centre.
German transport company Deutsche Bahn trialled the self-driving vehicle on Wednesday, delivering townspeople on a 700-metre route between the train station, the town centre, and the Birnbacher baths.
Designed by French startup company EasyMile, the electric vehicle – called EasyTen – autonomously navigated its way through the municipality of Bad Birnbach by way of sensors, lasers and GPS systems.
According to German broadcaster DW, it is the first time that a self-driving bus has been incorporated in the country's public transport system.
"We've just driven autonomously into a new era of transport," said Deutsche Bahn CEO Richard Lutz. "Today, Bad Birnbach and the Deutsche Bahn have actually written a bit of traffic history in Germany."
At the unveiling of the vehicle, Bavarian district governor Michael Fahmüller spoke about the importance of autonomous public services such as EasyTen in rural areas, where inhabitants are heavily reliant on their cars.
With such low passenger volumes, public transport providers struggle to supply regular services.
"This is a clear sign of the mobility and flexibility of public transport in the future, especially in rural areas," said the councillor. "We are proud to be the pioneer here."
Deutsche Bahn aims to develop the autonomous minibus further in the future, where it will act like a private car service to pick up passengers upon request from their home through an app. It could also collect other travellers en route who also require the service.
While EasyTen is the first vehicle of its kind to hit the roads in Germany, the rail company plans to release more similar buses from 2018 in several German towns and cities, such as Hamburg.
Autonomy is a fast-growing technology, with leading companies like Renault and BMW recently unveiling self-driving and electric concept vehicles.

Self-driving vehicle designed to help London commuters reconnect with their surroundings
EasyMile, however, is among those experimenting with autonomy in public transportation services rather than private car ownership.
Transport designer Jonny Culkin recently outlined his vision for the future of urban mobility in London, where a driverless, electric vehicle would offer an alternative to current subterranean travel – helping commuters reconnect with their city surroundings.

Provide an internal communication tool for your website / company / service—so there will be no need to use the confusing Facebook messenger, or some of those very unprofessional chat apps that are better used for personal conversation, rather than professional ones;
A campus-wide social network for your college, school, or university—to keep conversation exciting, and safe, at the same time;
Focused communities for services and products—so that you will have a better idea of who are patronizing your niche, and get their opinions to help make your work better;
Niche / social specific groups, so you can foster camaraderie among your readers, and;
The best part is that it provides you with an intelligent, enhanced forum experience that you probably have not tried anywhere else!
For a big selection of WordPress BuddyPress themes, click here.

Try BbPress
Speaking of other WordPress Forum Plugins, maybe BbPress is more your thing—especially that it is currently one of the most popular plugins around, making it one of the most trusted, too!
One of the things that most WordPress users like about it is that it is easy to set up. And from there, you already know that you will not have a hard time moderating this forum because it would not be too cluttered for you—which is especially helpful if you are still a beginner in the online blogging community. It also makes use of the following philosophies:
That it will always stay open source ;
That simplicity will always be its main feature;
That less code is more—again, perfect for beginners, and;
That it will always be secure and speedy!

Some of the best features of this plugin include the following:

Now, here is a fun way to add a forum to WordPress! You see, ForumEngine has that old-school forum feel, so aside from usual posts, and comments, users would also be able to create their own profiles—and badges—and over time, as they keep on using the site, they would notice various titled being handed to them. It is nothing extremely special, but it stays true to form, which is great if all you want is a proper forum for your readers. It also makes way for the following features:
Optimized discussion—so your readers would not find it a hassle to state their opinions on your website, and connect with fellow readers, too;
Frontend controls, for you to make sure that the forum is going well;
All screen size support, which means it would be optimized for whatever it is that people are using to access your website, and its forum;
Easy administrative tasks—so that managing the website—and the forum—would not be a hassle for you, and you would not be lazy about it;
Simple Interface, so reading and discussions would be easy, and;
Weekly updates—to make sure that the site is going well, and also to help you understand whatever is going on!
If you want to foster camaraderie between your readers and followers, this plugin might just be what you are looking for—and more!
