do you have a source on banning video games being part of project 2025, and trump wanting to ban video games? i havent heard anything about the former, and the only thing ive heard about the latter is that he made the same "violent video games are bad" statement thats been floating around since the 90s

I think I partially misunderstood when people were saying this. Trump has mentioned wanting to ban violent media like video games before, but when people are saying that they're going to "ban video games," they mostly mean because of the content a lot of these games have.

If porn is banned, then a lot of games like GTA VI, weird waifu games, and anything that has even the slightest mention of LGBT+ representation, since queer media is going to be equal to porn. (Which I suspect is why they're going to try to ban porn in the first place.)

I wouldn't be surprised if they tried banning Steam in America altogether. It'd be easier than banning each game with certain tags individually.

I also wouldn't be surprised if video game companies decide not to bother selling their games here because of tariffs each game would cost over $100.

This would also kill the preowned video game companies. (Or at least GameStop.) If nobody is buying video games, then nobody are trading them in.

Even when the games go on sale, that tariff difference isn't going away. A $60 game that drops down to $30 normally would become a $100 game that drops down to $70. (For example.)

I'd say that that's only for physical games, but that wouldn't be the case for games made by an American game company since they will have to use computers with parts imported from other places across the world.

(Also, I honestly wouldn't put it past Nintendo to just sell their games digitally for the same price as their physical games, even though that'd be unnecessary.)

This will also create a bigger piracy problem, which will also mean that any online account will be banned unless they stay offline.
