🎃 TFTOBER 2024 !!
Hey there!! I really wanted to participate in an October prompt list, but seeing as I've been really hooked on TF2 for this entire year, I figured it would be fun to do a TF2 themed list!!
If you participate, feel free to tag your posts w/ #tftober !!! I'd love to see what other people do <3 This list should be perfectly doable for any medium (art, writing, sfm, etc!)
Below the cut is a list of all the prompts with some extra flavor text/ideas! Things are kept vague in a typical drawing prompt fashion
DAY 1 - Main
Who's your main? Who do you play most often?
DAY 2 - Hats!
It's not called a glorified hat simulator for nothing! There's plenty of cosmetics at your fingertips in the game!
DAY 3 - Relationships
Everyone knows someone. Whether it's a family member, a friend, a lover, or even an arch nemesis!
DAY 4 - Pyrovision
Put on the goggles and take a look at things with a new perspective!
DAY 5 - Battlefield
Probably where a mercenary spends most of their time
DAY 6 - On Break
Battles don't rage on forever. You've gotta take a break eventually
DAY 7 - Offense
The front lines. The moving force
DAY 8 - Defense
The back lines. Makes sure nobody gets too far
DAY 9 - Support
Everything in between! Perhaps even the foundations of some teams
DAY 10 - Teamwork
It's not called TEAM Fortress for nothing, right?
DAY 11 - Fem Fortress
Happy Friday! Give some love to the girls!
DAY 12 - Free Space
Draw, write, or SFM to your heart's content! Do whatever you'd like!
DAY 13 - Respawn
Nobody stays dead.
DAY 14 - Capture the Flag
That briefcase isn't going to steal itself!
DAY 15 - Backstab
Should've checked behind you.
DAY 16 - Mann vs Machine
Guns and bullets or nuts and bolts? Who knows what could be running through those metallic minds...
DAY 17 - Expiration Date
Teleportation and bread. What else can I say?
DAY 18 - Headcannons
Think a little deeper. What do you just know has got to be true about the mercenaries?
DAY 19 - At home
Everyone comes from somewhere. Everyone has a home.
DAY 20 - Headshot
Looks like you stood a little bit too still.
DAY 21 - Alternate Universe
Emesis Blue? Lil' Pootis? A universe where the mercenaries are all alligators? The world is your oyster.
DAY 22 - Australium
A divine and valued substance rarer than gold
DAY 23 - Administrator
There's more to a war than just the fighters
DAY 24 - Pets
Some people have a soft spot for certain animals. Others choose to keep theirs around 24/7.
DAY 25 - Injury
An inevitability of war
DAY 26 - Control Points
A constant back and fourth
DAY 27 - Comics
Ink, panels, and pages. A story through words and pictures.
DAY 28 - Custom Class
Is nine really enough to cover everyone needed in a war? Probably not!
DAY 29 - Ubercharge
A miracle of medicine
DAY 30 - Sentry
Sometimes the best way to get good aim is to not be the one aiming
DAY 31 - Scream Fortress
Happy Halloween! Scream out to your heart's content and enjoy the spooks of the night!

price x f!reader | 1069 words nice tags: loser x loser, john price having a sliver of game, but it works a/n: continuation of this shortie. played myself here. 💀
“orange?”
“green.”
“what?”
“sorry, are we not naming colors?”
he's simultaneously wounded and amused that she doesn’t even look up to lash him with her tongue. suppose his attempts are ten a penny—she gets chatted up every day; he’s seen it firsthand.
ever since he tracked her to the shop a little over three weeks ago, he’s become a regular. he goes out of his way to visit and watch her handle interested parties like a professional. from the vantage of his usual table, he pretends to read or scroll on his phone, listening in on how she rebuffs them. his own politeness is rewarded with a gradual drop in her guard.
see, from his observations, he’s deduced what other prospects lack: persistence. something he has in spades.
he moves down the counter with her. it’s always slower in the afternoon, affording the time to talk. her good-for-nothing coworker is on another break.
“your cast.” he gestures. “brand new?”
she fumbles the tamper and bites out a quick, “yep.”
“no signatures.” her last one—bright blue—was nearly black with names and drawings just yesterday.
“got it this morning before i clocked in.”
“your boss still made you come in after that?”
“yeah, well, some of us have to work—shit.” she drops the tamper and portafilter, both thunking onto the rubber mat at her feet. grounds litter the counter and floor, and her eyelids twitch.
accident prone. unlucky. perhaps both.
john considers jumping the bar. a glance at the staff door says her coworker isn’t rushing to help, but he can’t push the line he’s drawn. in pencil. with a light hand.
after all, it wasn’t too long ago that she was jilted in love. she might as well wear a handle with care label.
she swears, fetches a hand broom and pan, then ducks.
“can i—?” he starts.
“absolutely not.” she snips, alternating tools in her good hand, piling the spilled grounds.
john lets a brief silence stretch, listening to the broom swish and other customers typing on laptops. he leans far enough to cast a shadow over her, and his mind wanders off.
“i didn’t mean to snap. or insinuate you’re, uh, underemployed.”
his focus splinters, his daydreams burst. god help a lech like him. sees a pretty girl on her knees and he’s fifteen years younger. christ. he distracts himself with the mess on the counter.
“takes more than a smart remark to hurt me.”
“yeah? well, watch out for scooters. that’s all it took to hurt me.” she smirks with eyes downcast, sweeping the pile into the pan.
if you’d just popped to the door, love. fessed up. i’d’ve taken care of you.
“mm, you’re resilient though. you got back up.”
she stands, shrugging. “like i said. had to. girl’s gotta eat. bills don’t pay themselves.”
“truer words.” john offers his share of collected grounds and a smile.
she murmurs thanks as she disposes of the coffee and moves to restart his drink until he raises a hand.
“give it a rest.”
“you paid for it.” she squints, disbelieving he’s passing on his coffee. her lips press together, and the small scar from the crash punctuates her uncertainty.
“i want somethin’ else.” his true intentions must bleed through his eyes because the corners of her mouth then pull down. he swiftly adds, “let me sign it.”
she nearly drops everything a second time. “you want to sign it. my cast?”
“do you have somethin’ else i could sign?”
her nostrils flare when she’s surprised. embarrassed? it’s cute. he wants to see it again.
“fine. here.” she dumps the pan, sets it aside, and hands him the marker she keeps clipped to her apron.
he’s careful when he leans closer, concentrating, ignoring the ding of the bell above the cafe’s door. the warmth of her skin seeps through where he holds her arm steady. his chin dips, relishing the strong scent of espresso and how nice and still she’s standing. it’s impulsive, deciding to smudge the line he’d drawn.
she only notices as he writes the last digit next to ‘john’.
“are you—is that your phone number?”
the bell rings again, and a cluster of voices follow.
“it is.” john confirms with a satisfied grin, glancing at his uniform scrawl. he caps her pen and slides it into the top pocket of her apron. time’s run out with the arrival of the mid-afternoon rush. clockwork. “good chat.” he winks, savors the finer details of her sweet, bewildered expression, and weaves around the small crowd of office workers in for a pick-me-up.
he’s pure confidence on the trip home, imagining what she’ll say when she calls or texts. how he’ll surprise her with his car on the first date. what? why’re you staring like that? how does it look familiar? he cracks himself up, thinking of how he’ll pry a confession out of her, then lean into it. what a coincidence. must be fate, visiting your shop.
his phone remains on the table as he goes about the rest of the day, half-heartedly doing what needs to be done while home. she works until seventeen-hundred, so he doesn’t expect immediacy. it doesn’t stop him from finding excuses to hover nearby or snatching up the device when it pings ten minutes after closing.
>> if this is a plot to get free drinks, i only get one a shift and it’s for me
> It’s a ploy to buy you a drink, if you’d like.
three dots appear and disappear rapidly.
>> i’m not drinking right now >> considering how i got the cast
> then what are your plans for tomorrow?
persistence.
>> supermarket
> Wonderful. Send your address. I’ll pick you up.
>> oh you’re one of those guys >> self invitation type >> you don’t need to come???
> Are you going to carry them yourself?
another round of dots.
>> good point >> fine, be my muscle
> Gladly.
she sends her address, which he promptly inputs into a search engine. decent area, expensive rent. clicks his tongue as he clicks through the photos from an old listing. hopefully, the pathetic-looking deadbolt’s been updated.
he suggests a time.
>> works for me
> Good. See you tomorrow.
>> yeah yeah, night john x
his eyes hitch to the ‘x’, and his chest tightens. he exits the rental site and glances around his flat. yeah, she’ll fit in quite nicely.
#loser loser double loser as if whatever#i conse on her quence what#you do not want to go against john price when the long game is on the line#brought to you by me wanting something on the sweeter side#price x f!reader#price x reader

Megalopolis Review, or, Why Nobody Seems to Realize the King is Naked
Brace yourselves, this will be a long post @ariel-seagull-wings @thealmightyemprex @the-blue-fairie @mask131 @tamisdava2
Today I watched Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis and never has a movie made me so frustrated and irritated as I’m now.
The film is absolutely awful. Not in a so bad it’s good but in a so awful it’s awful. Pardon the language but not even if Coppola broke into my house and shit on my face I would be as angry as I am for him having made this movie.
But let’s go in parts.
The Premise
The film is a mixture between soft sci-fi and magical realism. We are in an alternate universe where the United States is a direct continuation of the Roman Empire and New York city is instead the capital of the empire, New Rome.
Cesar Catilina is a brilliant architect and scientist that gained a Nobel Prize for inventing the Megalon, a miraculous substance capable of doing anything. Cesar is a mysterious and lonely genius, with a mysterious past involving an accusation of murdering his own wife and the power to stop time itself.
He wants to use the metal to rebuild New Rome into a utopia, Megalopolis. Because of that he wages a political battle against the mayor of New Rome, Franklyn Cicero, who wants things to stay the way they have always been. The Mayor has a daughter called Julia, and she falls in love with Cesar. Meanwhile a gossip reporter called Wow Platinum has her eyes on both Cesar and his rich uncle, while Cesar’s cousin, Clodio, a decadent playboy wants to destroy Cesar once and for all.
The Problems
Now that we went into the premise of the movie, let’s see in all the ways this premise falls apart
1 - The Film as a whole makes no sense
Film is art, and art doesn’t need to fit in traditional plot structures or pacing styles.
But art is about communication. An artist has to communicate ideas, feelings, and impressions to their public. A piece of art that can only be understood by its creator is a bad piece of art.
A good film, as a good piece of art, has to have the minimum of coherence and cohesion to express the ideas, feelings, and impressions of the filmmaker to their public. If the movie is unable to do that, then the movie is a bad piece of art.
A good film has to either have coherent story, characters, or at least themes.
Megalopolis doesn’t have either of those.
Megalopolis has a complicated plot filled to the brim with pointless characters and it goes nowhere. Some of the characters are killed off in cut-way jokes and the climax happens in the last twelve minutes of the film. The film lasts more than two hours, and still feels rushed, with scenes that feel missing and scenes that seem superfluous.
It has long surreal sequences that don’t fit the characters, the themes or the story. It’s weirdness for weirdness’ sake. It means nothing.
The characters are painfully shallow and have nothing to say but famous quotes and juvenile language filled with profanity.
The film draws painfully long scenes quoting Shakespeare among other writers and philosophers, trying to say something deep about humanity, civilization, politics and the pursuit of utopia, but everything that comes out of it is shallow and contradictory.
In some points Cesar’s desire to build his utopian city is framed as almost an act of anti-consumerism and anti-materialism, vices that are endorsed by Mayor Franklyn Cicero. But then Cesar demolishes several apartment buildings, leaving hundreds homeless and hungry, and the movie almost becomes Atlas Shrugged, where the genius has to rise above the stupid masses that drag him down.
Cesar’s jealous cousin, Clodio, is built as a Trump stand-in, but then his politics are about helping the immigrants and the poor against Cesar’s plans. And he openly dresses in drag.
In some way, Clodio is a mixture of Trumpism, Occupy Wall Street and Black Lives Matter in a single character, ignoring the obvious ways these ideologies are completely different from each other.
In the end Cesar gives a passionate speech to the crowds that Clodio aroused, and it’s no deeper than Facebook messages of “We can disagree politically and still be friends”.
The film has a lot to say about culture and politics, but with a simple glance you realize that Coppola doesn’t understand neither politics or culture.
Megalopolis is a film that has a lot of things to say about humanity, culture, and politics, and almost everything is pure gibberish.
2 - The film is misogynistic, biphobic and a little bit transphobic.
It’s no wonder that Coppola took almost 30 years to finish this film, because the script has the trademarked sexual prejudices of the 1980’s.
Only two female characters are really important in this story, and they role seem to reinforce the madonna x whore dichotomy that Coppola seems to believe in.
We have Julia, our madonna. She has a Mary Magdalene complex. She’s initially presented as a shallow, decadent socialite, who only knows how to party all day and kiss passionately her female friends. She is implied to be bisexual, but her bisexuality is presented as just another vice of the decadent elite of New Rome.
Then she meets and falls in love with Cesar and becomes nothing more than his love interest. She becomes the one responsible for his moral support. Her bisexuality is stripped away and she is resumed to nothing more than a supportive wife.
Then we have Wow Platinum, a gossip reporter that marries Cesar's uncle, is interested in Cesar himself, and has sex with Clodio, Cesar's cousin. She is a shallow gold digger and the film uses every chance it has to slutshame her. She is a typical femme fatale without any nuance or complexity, a disgusting sexist and demeaning caricature without any depth.
And then we have Clodio and his drag scene, and just like Julia, his crossdressing is presented as just another form of the decadence of New Rome.
3 - Vesta
There’s a plot point that comes out of nowhere and goes nowhere.
New Rome has a pop star called Vesta, and she is meant to mirror the Vesta priestesses of Ancient Rome. She is clearly modeled after Taylor Swift.
Clodio forges a video of Cesar and Vesta having sex, and since Vesta is a minor, he is arrested. But then Julia discovers that Vesta was lying about her age and is actually a 23-year old woman. After her true age is revealed and after the video is revealed as fake, Vesta reinvents herself as a provocative pop-rock star.
This whole plot point lasts ten minutes and has no bearing on the overall story.
I know for sure that it was written in the late 2000’s, because more than being inspired by Taylor Swift, Vesta is inspired by the transition that Miley Cyrus had from sweet Disney girl to provocative pop star.
It’s very creepy and off-putting considering everything that we now know about how Coppola deals with young women.
Honestly it just feels like he wanted to fuck Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift back in 2010.
4 - It’s just a giant ego trip
Only one thing is consistent in Megalopolis, how Cesar is portrayed as a genius that has to fight to have his vision of utopia come to life, and it’s obvious how he is an author self-insert.
It’s so annoying and irritating watching Coppola worship himself for over two hours.
He paints Cesar as this tragic figure that is misunderstood by society and how everyone should just listen to him. How he is a genius that has all the answers to solve humanity’s problems.
It’s the equivalent of watching Coppola masturbating while looking at himself in the mirror for two hours.
The King is Naked
Listen, I too was at first excited about Megalopolis. I wanted this project to succeed. I wanted to see a creative and bold vision. I wanted to see more authoral cinema.
But Coppola is just a rich creep with delirious visions of grandeur.
He used this film to worship his obscene ego and to sexually exploit extras on his set.
And now I see people trying to find excuses for him, or trying to defend this thing.
Listen, if you found something positive about Megalopolis I respect your opinion, but this film is a huge piece of shit made by a more gigantic piece of shit, and his talent and past accomplishments can’t excuse this.
The film is awful, the director is awful, and the king is naked. He doesn’t need protection.
Can we be totally sincere with this film? At least with ourselves?
I want to see films that are original and take risks, but I want from creators who aren’t megalomaniacs, sexual perverts or that at least can develop coherent ideas.

how i draw hair :) applies for TS3 & TS4
a few people have asked for this so i thought i'd just show my process, i'm still learning myself but sharing is caring. This is all done in the Procreate app on the ipad.
i used to use these brushes when i had my old ts3 acc: photoshop brushes these are super good if you might be be able to draw the individual strands, now i just use 3 brushes from samdoesart patreon:
round brush: has some hard edges air brush: better for curly hair as it's soft syrup brush : i use this more for straight/wavy hair
procreate does have FREE brushes so alternatives for the brushes i use are found in: calligraphy - 'script', airbrushing - 'hard blend' & 'soft brush'.
step1: i'll gather reference on pinterest for curly/wavy hair as straight hair is more simple to draw, this help me to understand how the hair falls and where to put highlight/shadows
step2: *create new layer* pick the brush and colour pick the hair, i like a lot of loose strands and messy looking hair, start drawing your strands lightly and build up. The only thing that differs with sims 3 is that when drawing the strands i use a bigger brush size to start with then go in with smaller strands later.
step3: *create new layer* blending mode: multiply opacity: 50-60% i'll add shadows to the parts of the hair that 'bend' to add more depth. (remember shadows are never usually completely black, so if the sim has blue hair make the shadow a dark blue)
step4: *create new layer* blending mode: add. opacity 20-30%. i'll add highlight by using the selection tool and similar to how anime hair looks with the hair higlight ill add zig zag lines going around the hair, then go in with my brush lightly making the centre more intense. Once done ill get the eraser and make sure the edges aren't too harsh
step5: *create new layer* blending mode: normal (place under shadows layer. i'll add colour highlights, (for black hair i'll use a littie bit of brown as no ones hair is really completely black)
step 6: *create new layer* blending mode: add. this one is for lighting purposes. for the rest of the screenshot then i'll add extra shine to hair & add shadows to the body
step 7: once i'm done. *create new layer* blending mode: overlay and i'll go over the parts that are in the light. merge all layers together and add some grain so the hair drawing blends in with the rest of the screenshot.

When children begins being stolen off the street, among them Lyra's friend, she must embark on a great journey to save him, taking her to the furthest north - and beyond. A note: the angels do not appear until the second book, however this trilogy is very much worth a read from the start.

It’s up to Kevah, legendary fighter, to stop him and save his people. But ever since losing his wife a decade ago, Kevah has lost his fighting spirit. Introduction
Blood magic involves the ritualistic use of blood as a potent symbol and conduit for connection. Central to blood magic is the belief that blood, as the essence of life and vitality, carries inherent energies that can be harnessed and directed. This doesn’t necessarily require blood to be removed from the body. In a few cultures, such as Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurvedic Medicine, and some indigenous practices blood is utilized from within the body as a means for healing, directing energy from the subtle body, and developing a more thorough mind-body connection.
The applications of blood magic span a spectrum of purposes, each rooted in the practitioner's intentions and the energetic resonance of blood itself. While practices vary widely across cultures and individual traditions, common themes emerge regarding the uses of blood magic. Applications such as warding, binding, divination, and energetic balancing.
Please be sure to engage in this entire article if you are able, and do so in good faith. Blood magic, as a legitimate magical practice, has been influenced and poorly reflected by media which has resulted in a portent of misinformation and misunderstandings. The aim of this article is to eliminate misunderstandings and promote safe and ethical practices.
Uses
Blood magic is employed for several purposes, each rooted in the idea that blood is a conduit of life force and energy. Primarily, blood magic is utilized in rituals aimed at strengthening bonds. It is believed that by incorporating blood into rituals, one can forge stronger connections with ancestors, deities, or the natural world. This practice is seen in various indigenous traditions where blood offerings are made to honor and appease spirits or gods.
Moreover, blood magic is often used in rites of passage. These ceremonies, marking significant transitions in an individual's life, such as birth, maturity, marriage, and death, incorporate blood to symbolize the transformation and the continuity of life. The act of shedding blood during these rituals is seen as a potent gesture, signifying the shedding of the old self and the emergence of a new, empowered identity.
In healing practices, blood magic is employed as a method of channeling energy to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Traditional healers may use blood as a medium to draw out negative influences or to invigorate the body’s natural healing processes. This practice is not about the physical use of blood per se but rather the symbolic gesture, wherein the essence of life is called upon to restore balance and harmony.
The portrayal of blood magic in popular media has often led to widespread misconceptions and fear. Frequently depicted as sinister and malevolent, blood magic is associated with dark rituals, malevolent sorcery, and nefarious intentions. Such representations overlook the cultural and spiritual significance embedded in these practices, reducing them to mere sensationalist tropes.
A prevalent misunderstanding is the belief that blood magic is inherently evil or dangerous. This notion is fueled by horror movies, novels, and sensationalist media, which often portray blood magic as the domain of malevolent witches or nefarious cults. In reality, blood magic, like many other forms of spiritual practice, is neutral in nature. Its moral alignment is determined by the intent and ethics of the practitioner. For many cultures, blood magic is a sacred practice meant to honor life, foster healing, and maintain harmony with the natural and spiritual worlds.
Another common misconception is that blood magic involves human sacrifice or self-harm. While historical accounts do exist of bloodletting practices, particularly in ancient civilizations, modern practitioners of blood magic typically engage in symbolic acts rather than literal bloodshed. These acts can include pricking a finger or using animal blood obtained from ethical sources, rather than causing significant harm.
Furthermore, the false association of blood with the empowerment of spells is a particularly egregious misrepresentation. Blood is often depicted as a supernatural catalyst that amplifies magical abilities, granting practitioners extraordinary power. This portrayal is not only inaccurate but also undermines the cultural and spiritual significance of blood magic. The following is a list of media that inaccurately portrays blood magic or has been poorly represented in subsequent media.
"The Book of Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage" (15th century)
"The Lesser Key of Solomon" (17th century)
"The Greater Key of Solomon" (17th century)
"The Key of Solomon" (14th or 15th century)
"The Grimoire of Armadel" (17th century)
"Rosemary's Baby" (1968)
"The Craft" (1996)
"Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" (2001)
"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" (2009)
"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (1997-2003)
"True Blood" (2008-2014)
"American Horror Story: Coven" (2013)
"The Magicians" (2015-2020)
“Supernatural” (2005-2020)
"Dracula" by Bram Stoker (1897)
"The Vampire Chronicles" by Anne Rice (1976 onwards)
"Harry Potter" series by J.K. Rowling (1997-2007)
"Twilight" series by Stephenie Meyer (2005-2008)
While some of these pieces of media do not directly promote the idea of literal bloodletting or the direct concept of magical strengthening through blood, their depiction and influence in later media does.
Process
The amount of blood required in blood magic rituals varies significantly depending on the specific tradition and the purpose of the ritual. Generally, only a minimal amount is used, symbolizing the essence of life rather than its physical manifestation. This minimalism underscores the principle that the power of blood magic lies not in the quantity of blood, but in the act of offering and the symbolic gesture it represents.
In most practices, a few drops of blood are deemed sufficient. This small quantity is often enough to establish the connection or achieve the desired outcome without causing harm to the practitioner. Overuse of blood is generally avoided, as it is not the volume but the act of offering that holds significance. This approach reflects a deep respect for the body and its life-giving essence, ensuring that the practice remains sustainable and safe.
Obtaining blood for these rituals must be approached with care and reverence. The method of extraction should prioritize the well-being of the practitioner or the source, emphasizing minimal harm and ethical considerations.
Self-pricking with a sterilized needle or lancet is a common method. This technique ensures that only a small amount of blood is drawn, usually from the fingertip. The use of sterilized instruments is crucial to prevent infection and maintain hygiene. The act of self-pricking is often performed as part of a ritualistic process, with practitioners mentally preparing themselves and ensuring a clean environment.
In rare instances, some practitioners may opt for menstrual blood, which is seen as a natural and potent symbol of life and fertility. The use of menstrual blood is often considered deeply personal and is typically reserved for specific rituals related to fertility, protection, or transformation.
In some traditions no bloodletting is required. Some of the most prominent traditions that use internal blood magic are Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurvedic Medicine. These traditions employ methods that emphasize the internal circulation and quality of blood as integral to health, vitality, and spiritual balance.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)*:
Within Traditional Chinese Medicine, blood holds a vital role alongside Qi (life energy) as one of the body's fundamental substances. Blood, known as "Xue," is considered essential for nourishing the organs and tissues, promoting growth, and maintaining overall vitality. Unlike external applications or rituals involving blood, TCM focuses on cultivating and balancing the body's internal blood through herbal medicine, acupuncture, and dietary therapy. Practitioners diagnose imbalances in blood quality and circulation based on symptoms such as pale complexion, menstrual irregularities, or insomnia, and tailor treatments to restore harmony within the body's systems.
Ayurvedic Medicine*:
In Ayurveda, the traditional medicine system of India, blood (Rakta) is regarded as crucial for maintaining overall health and vitality. Ayurvedic texts emphasize the importance of balanced blood circulation and purity to prevent disease and promote longevity. Practices such as Panchakarma treatments aim to cleanse and rejuvenate the blood through herbal therapies, dietary adjustments, and lifestyle modifications. Unlike external applications or ritualistic uses, Ayurvedic medicine focuses on enhancing the body's internal mechanisms to optimize blood quality and circulation. By restoring balance to the doshas (body types), Ayurvedic practitioners aim to harmonize physical health, mental clarity, and spiritual well-being.
Across these traditions, the approach to blood magic diverges from external ritualistic practices commonly associated with Western occultism. Instead, they emphasize internal cultivation, balance, and harmony within the body's natural processes. By focusing on enhancing the quality and circulation of blood through holistic methods, practitioners seek to promote holistic health, longevity, and spiritual well-being without the need for external bloodletting or ritualistic practices seen in other magical traditions.
Physical Applications of Blood in Use of Magic
The physical applications of blood in these practices are varied, each carrying distinct symbolic meanings and ritualistic purposes. Blood is often used to anoint objects, spaces, or individuals, thereby consecrating and imbuing them with specific properties. So long as blood is applied to archival materials and kept in a cool, dry, sterile, and dark place with little to no air circulation the DNA which makes up the taglock can remain intact for up to 500 years. However, luminal, microbial, fungal, and or chemical interactions may cause DNA to degrade in as little as a few days.
Anointing Objects: Blood is frequently applied to ritual tools, such as athames, wands, or talismans, to consecrate them and enhance their efficacy. This act is believed to imbue the object with the life force of the practitioner, creating a powerful link between the tool and the user. The anointing process is typically done with great care, often accompanied by sigils, chants, or prayers to invoke the desired energies. Anointing is most potent when used on absorbent materials such as cloth or paper. This is due to the blood, which acts as a dynamic taglock, becoming trapped within fibers.
Marking Spaces: Blood can be used to mark ritual spaces or boundaries, creating a sacred and protected area for the practitioner to work within. This marking might involve drawing symbols or lines with the blood, establishing a physical and energetic barrier against negative influences. The creation of these sacred spaces is an integral part of many blood magic rituals, providing a contained environment for the practitioner's work.
Healing Rituals: In healing practices, blood may be applied to the body to promote recovery and balance. This application is usually symbolic, representing the infusion of life force into the afflicted area (So long as it is not an open wound). The blood is often applied with the fingertips, accompanied by specific incantations or prayers to enhance the healing process. The focus is on the symbolic gesture rather than the physical quantity of blood used.
Offerings to Deities or Spirits: Blood can also be offered to deities or spirits as a form of devotion and reverence. This offering is typically done by placing a few drops of blood on an altar or in a sacred space designated for the deity or spirit. The act of offering blood is seen as a profound gesture, symbolizing the practitioner's dedication and connection to the divine or spiritual forces.
Safety
The practice of blood magic, while rooted in tradition and symbolism, requires a conscientious approach to safety, even within very simple workings. Ensuring safe practices is paramount, as the involvement of blood inherently carries risks, particularly concerning hygiene and infection. This section provides a comprehensive guide to maintaining safety, highlighting practices to avoid, methods for preventing infections, and essential steps for cleanup and disposal. The risk of spreading disease through blood biological waste is a significant concern due to the potential presence of bloodborne pathogens. These pathogens, which include viruses such as HIV, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C, can survive in blood and other bodily fluids, posing a health risk to sanitation workers. When blood or biological waste is improperly handled or disposed of, these pathogens can be transmitted through direct contact with contaminated materials. This transmission can occur through needlesticks, cuts, or mucous membrane exposure, leading to serious infections. Additionally, pathogens can be aerosolized during certain procedures, increasing the risk of inhalation. Therefore, stringent protocols for handling, sterilizing, and disposing of blood and biological waste are essential. The use of puncture-proof and leak-proof sharps containers for needles and other sharp objects is crucial to prevent accidental injuries and subsequent infections. Furthermore, all contaminated materials should be disposed of in designated biohazard containers, which are then collected and treated by specialized waste management services to neutralize any pathogens. Adherence to these practices not only protects workers and practitioners alike but also prevents the potential spread of infectious diseases to the wider community.
Practices to Avoid
Certain practices in blood magic should be strictly avoided to mitigate risks and uphold ethical standards. Understanding these practices is crucial for any practitioner who wishes to engage in blood magic responsibly.
Excessive Bloodletting: One of the most critical practices to avoid is excessive bloodletting. The use of large quantities of blood is not only unnecessary but also dangerous. Blood magic typically requires only a minimal amount of blood—often just a single small drop. Overextending oneself by drawing significant amounts can lead to serious health complications, including anemia, dizziness, and, in severe cases, shock or death.
Using Unsterilized Instruments: Another hazardous practice is the use of unsterilized instruments to extract blood. Employing non-sterile needles, lancets, or other sharp objects increases the risk of infections and diseases. Practitioners must ensure that all tools used in blood extraction are properly sterilized and handled with care.
Self-Harm and Harm to Others: Blood magic should never involve self-harm or harm to others. The practice must be conducted in a manner that respects the well-being and dignity of all involved. Self-inflicted wounds or drawing blood from others without their consent and comfort are unethical and dangerous practices that must be avoided.
Sharing Blood: Sharing blood between individuals is a practice that carries significant health risks. Bloodborne pathogens can be transmitted through shared blood, leading to serious infections and diseases such as HIV, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C. Practitioners should never share blood or engage in rituals that involve the mingling of blood from multiple individuals.
Preventing Infections
Preventing infections is a primary concern when working with blood. Proper hygiene and careful handling of blood and instruments are essential to minimize the risk of infection.
Sterilization of Tools: All tools used for blood extraction, such as needles or lancets, must be sterilized before use. This can be achieved using medical-grade sterilization techniques, such as autoclaving or using single-use, pre-sterilized instruments. If reusable instruments are employed, they should be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected after each use.
Hand Hygiene: Practitioners should practice meticulous hand hygiene before and after handling blood. Washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds is essential. If soap and water are not available, an alcohol-based hand sanitizer can be used as an alternative.
Use of Gloves: Wearing disposable gloves during the extraction and handling of blood can provide an additional layer of protection. Gloves should be disposed of immediately after use, and hands should be washed again to ensure complete hygiene.
Disinfecting the Extraction Site: The area of the body from which blood will be drawn should be disinfected with an antiseptic solution, such as alcohol or iodine, before extraction. This reduces the risk of introducing pathogens into the body through the puncture site.
Proper Wound Care: After the blood has been drawn, the puncture site should be properly cared for to prevent infection. This involves applying an antiseptic and covering the wound with a sterile bandage. The area should be monitored for signs of infection, such as redness, swelling, or discharge.
Cleanup & First Aid
Thorough cleanup and first aid procedures are essential components of safe blood magic practices. Proper cleanup ensures that the ritual space remains hygienic and free from contamination, while first aid addresses any injuries that may occur.
The use of a sharps container is critical for safely disposing of items that can puncture the skin and are contaminated with unsterilized biological materials. These containers are biohazard-marked, solid-walled, puncture-proof, and leak-proof on the sides and bottom.
Sharps Disposal:
Examples of Sharps: Needles, lancets, scalpels, knives, razor blades, glass slides, glass Pasteur pipettes, biologically-contaminated broken glass, and all sharps-associated medical devices such as syringes
Collection and Storage:
Immediately place all sharps into a designated sharps container after use. Use containers specifically designed for sharps disposal; avoid cardboard or repurposed containers. Ensure the sharps container lid has a restricted access opening and is fully closed when not in use. Store the container upright to prevent spills or contamination. You can obtain a sharps container from most pharmacies for free or for a low cost.
Treatment and Disposal:
Close the sharps container permanently when it is three-quarters full or when objects no longer fall freely into it. Do not force items into the container or shake it to make more space. Place full containers in designated biohazards waste pickup areas. Many pharmacies accept biological and sharps waste for disposal.
Liquid Biohazardous Waste:
Description and Examples: Includes bulk biological liquids like culture media and pooled clinical specimen liquids.
Collection and Storage:
Label collection vessels with biohazard symbols and the disinfectant used. Use non-breakable containers whenever possible. Store vacuum flasks in leak-proof secondary containers when not in biosafety cabinets (BSC).
First Aid Procedures
Treating Minor Wounds: If a minor wound occurs during the ritual, clean it immediately with soap and water. Apply an antiseptic and cover the wound with a sterile bandage. Keep the wound clean and dry, changing the bandage daily or if it becomes wet or dirty.
Addressing Severe Injuries: For severe injuries, such as deep cuts or heavy bleeding, seek immediate medical attention. Apply pressure to the wound to control bleeding while waiting for medical assistance. Remain calm and act swiftly to ensure proper care.
Monitoring for Signs of Infection: After any blood extraction or injury, monitor the wound for signs of infection, including increased redness, swelling, warmth, pain, or discharge. Seek medical advice promptly if any of these symptoms occur.
By adhering to these safety practices, practitioners of blood magic can mitigate risks and ensure that their rituals are conducted in a responsible and respectful manner. Emphasizing the importance of hygiene, proper tool use, and ethical considerations not only preserves the integrity of the practice but also safeguards the health and well-being of all involved.
Blood magic, with its deep-seated symbolism and intricate rituals, can sometimes require the practitioner to reverse or nullify the effects of a previously cast spell. Unbinding, or the process of undoing blood magic, is a crucial skill that ensures the practitioner retains control over their craft and can correct or withdraw magical influences when necessary. This section delves into scenarios where unbinding is beneficial and outlines the methodologies to effectively achieve it.
The following are some helpful resources about safety and clean up:

Counteracting, Unbinding, and Undoing Blood Magic
Blood magic can sometimes require the practitioner to reverse or nullify the effects of a previously cast spell. The process of undoing blood magic is a crucial skill that ensures the practitioner retains control over their craft and can correct or withdraw magical influences when necessary. When might undoing blood magic be a good idea?
Unintended Consequences: Despite meticulous planning, blood magic can sometimes yield unforeseen results. These unintended outcomes might stem from miscalculation, misinterpretation of the ritual's requirements, or external influences altering the spell's impact. In such instances, unbinding becomes necessary to mitigate any negative repercussions.
Changing Circumstances: Life is inherently dynamic, and circumstances that once justified a blood magic ritual may evolve, rendering the spell obsolete or even counterproductive. For example, a spell cast to protect a relationship may need to be undone if the relationship ends or transforms, ensuring that the energies involved do not cause harm or unnecessary entanglement.
Ethical Considerations: The ethical landscape of magic is complex, and practitioners may find themselves needing to unbind spells that no longer align with their moral compass. If a spell was cast under conditions or motivations that are later regretted, unbinding serves as a means of rectifying past actions.
Interference with Other Work: Multiple magical workings can sometimes interfere with one another, particularly if their purposes are not harmonious. In such cases, unbinding one or more spells can clarify the practitioner's magical landscape, allowing for more effective and focused rituals.
Psychological Relief: The psychological burden of knowing a blood magic spell is active can be significant. If a practitioner feels uneasy or haunted by a ritual, unbinding the spell can provide peace of mind, alleviating stress and restoring a sense of control.
How to Unbind
Unbinding a blood magic spell is a deliberate and structured process, requiring precision and respect for the energies involved. The following steps outline a general methodology for unbinding:
Reflection and Assessment: Before initiating the unbinding process, the practitioner must engage in thorough reflection and assessment of the original spell. This involves understanding the components, energies, and symbols used, as well as the specific outcomes achieved. Such introspection helps in crafting an effective unbinding strategy. Keeping a spell log will be invaluable for this purpose.
Cleansing the Space: Preparing the physical and ambient energetic space is crucial. This typically involves cleansing the area with purifying agents such as salt, sage, or other herbs known for their purifying properties, and energy work. The goal is to create a neutral and protected environment for the unbinding ritual.
Gathering Materials: An unbinding ritual may benefit from specific materials, which may include items used in the original spell (if available), purification substances, and tools for ritual work such as candles, incense, and a ceremonial knife. The precise materials will depend on the nature of the original spell and the practitioner's tradition. One component that will be absolutely necessary is the spell’s anchor.
Symbolic Acts of Neutralization: Symbolic acts can play a significant role in unbinding. This could involve burying, burning, or immersing objects used in the original spell in running water, symbolically returning the energies to the earth or cleansing them entirely. The act chosen should align with the practitioner's symbolic framework and the nature of the spell being undone.
Offering and Atonement: To maintain balance and respect for the forces involved, the practitioner may include an offering or act of atonement as part of the unbinding ritual. This could be a simple act of gratitude, a small gift to the natural world, or a gesture of goodwill that seeks to harmonize any disrupted energies.
Cleansing or Destroying the Spell Anchor: The original spell anchor, or object(s) that houses the spell must be cleansed energetically, or be entirely destroyed. Energetically cleansing the anchor means to isolate and unravel the energetic construct of the spell which is bound to the anchor. To destroy the anchor means to smash, burn, cut up, or dissolve the object until it is no longer identifiable. If the object is made of metal then it will require energetic dismantling, as not even melting the metal down will break down the spell unless it is diluted in other minerals or metals to a point where it is no longer chemically similar.
Sealing the Unbinding: Once the reversal actions are completed, sealing the unbinding can be used to ensure the spell's effects do not linger. This might involve the creation of a talisman, seal, or sigil which is then applied to the outside of the container holding the remnants of the original anchor.
Post-Ritual Reflection: After the unbinding ritual, the practitioner should take time for reflection and grounding. This allows for the assimilation of any residual internal energies and provides an opportunity to assess the effectiveness of the unbinding. Meditation, divination, journaling, or simply spending time in nature can help in this process.
Monitoring Outcomes: The practitioner should monitor the outcomes of the unbinding over the following days and weeks. Observing any changes or shifts in circumstances can provide valuable feedback on the success of the unbinding and inform future practices.
Unbinding, like all aspects of blood magic, demands respect, mindfulness, and a deep understanding of the forces at play. By adhering to these structured steps, practitioners can responsibly undo the effects of their spells, ensuring harmony and balance within their magical practice and broader life context.
Alternatives to Blood Magic
For those who skipped the article, here is a diluted TL;DR list of the most important information from it with all potential triggers removed:
BM is binding magic and does not empower or boost a working
A single small pinprick is all that's needed, more than that approaches SH
There exist BM practices that do not require the removal of fluids from the body.
BM, for the most part, is just using a dynamic Taglock.
Safety is paramount
BM can be undone just like any other type of spell
Since BM does not in any way strengthen or empower spell work outside of self-binding, there are many alternatives. Blood within magic acts primarily as a taglock. It is for this reason that it can be replaced by any other taglock in spellcrafting.
Taglocks that can easily replace blood:
Signature: A personal signature is a direct representation of an individual, carrying the unique energy and identity of the person.
Photograph: A photograph captures the essence and image of an individual, making it an effective taglock for personal spells.
Hair: Hair contains DNA and is a physical part of the person, making it a powerful substitute.
Nail clippings: Like hair, nail clippings are part of the individual’s body and contain their DNA, serving as a strong link for spell work.
For BM that used blood as a conduit:
Blood is sometimes believed to act as a conduit in magic due to its life essence and connectivity. This role can be substituted by other substances capable of facilitating energetic transfer.
Light acids such as vinegar: Vinegar is a readily available and safe substitute. Acids can transfer electrons, which can be symbolically or practically useful in spells that require a medium to facilitate a reaction or transformation. Vinegar’s cleansing properties also add a purifying element to spellwork.
For BM for holding space:
When blood is used to hold space or create a sacred boundary, alternative materials can effectively perform this function.
Salt water: Salt water has long been used for purification and protection. Salt's crystalline structure and water's fluid nature make this combination a potent tool for creating sacred space.
Quartz (piezoelectric): Quartz crystals, due to their piezoelectric properties, can generate electrical charges and are excellent for maintaining energetic fields and enhancing spells.
Copper: Copper is a highly conductive metal that can enhance the flow of energy in spellwork. Its properties make it a useful substitute for blood in rituals requiring energy movement or containment.
Talismans/Sigils: These objects or symbols are charged with specific intentions and can effectively hold space or direct energy in spellwork. They can be custom-made to align with the desired outcome of the ritual.
For BM used for offerings to spirits or deities:
Offerings are an integral part of many spiritual practices, intended to honor and appease spirits or deities. Blood, being a potent life force, can be replaced by various other meaningful offerings.
Food and drink: Traditional offerings such as bread, fruit, wine, or other beverages are widely accepted in many spiritual traditions. They symbolize sustenance and respect.
Incense and herbs: Burning incense or herbs can serve as a fragrant offering, with the smoke carrying prayers and intentions to the spiritual realm. Specific herbs can be chosen based on their symbolic meanings and properties.
Flowers: Fresh flowers are often used as offerings due to their beauty, fragrance, and life energy. They can represent growth, renewal, and respect.
Candles: Lighting candles in specific colors can symbolize different aspects of the offering, such as white for purity or red for strength and passion. The flame acts as a beacon or signal to the spiritual entities being honored.
Coins or precious metals: Offering coins or small pieces of precious metals can symbolize wealth and prosperity, showing reverence and gratitude to the spirits or deities.
Personal creations: Handmade items, such as crafted objects, poems, or artworks, can be deeply personal offerings that convey sincerity and dedication. These can be tailored to the preferences and attributes of the deity or spirit being honored. This is the best alternative for BM in this regard.

hello it's me again! Your biggest fan (LMAO) The one who asked for tips on coloring...
Another question has came up on me while I was coloring (finally aughhh). How do you shade hair? Without it looking unnatural?
Thank you for your help before!!! 😊
Hello and welcome back! I'm glad my previous advice helped! That is a difficult question as I do admit it is a bit challenging to me as well. It is guesswork + studying references, adjusting tid bits until it looks right, my own process relies on a trial and error approach.
Therefore, I suggest you pick some pieces you like where you find the hair gorgeous, and figuring out how the artist does it, or how might they do it, per active learning principles. Try to deduce it. While the following guide can be good for your starting concepts too, it's important to adapt it to your style and preferences. And I even encourage you to go against it, as creativity thrives on experimentation.
That said, I'll guide you through my own thought process, however. (With a quick Ratio sketch, because I really love to shade his hair; fluffy hair is very forgiving.)
Let's start off here (I'll be skipping the black and white part for simplicity's sake from the previous guide. I'll also be using a white environment with a pale overlight):
For highlights, I begin laying down a Glow Dodge layer with a hard brush that doesn't have full opacity, and draw a halo-like shape. After that, I refine the shape by erasing parts of it with a rough eraser to get the desired effect.
Alternative to the Glow Dodge layer, you can use pure white, or other layer types such as Lighten, Screen, Add and Overlay, etc.
In the following pictures, note that I adjust the layer's opacity freely.
Above, I simply blended it a bit to my own liking.
With an airbrush I softly start introducing shadows (Multiply layer, dark purple/blue color).
Then, I start introducing sharper shadows in a separate layer.
You can use a lasso tool for this to map out a jagged like shape which should remind you of mountains. You can blend this out too at certain segments.
(Sidetrack: if you feel like, I suggest reading up on the balance of hard and soft edges in painting, the topic is very interesting and I am still trying to grasp it as well, yet I find it immeasurably useful. This can come in handy upon rendering principles. A very skillful master of it is the artist Yuming Li.)
Furthermore, I add reflections. I've used a Lighten layer with a subtle blue color. As this is subtle, I want to point it out that it appears on the lower parts.
For a final touch, I pick out the skin's color and airbrush, shift the picked color to a more saturated one and apply it near his face/to the bangs, with an airbrush.
For the fundamentals of hair shading I usually wrap it up here and go off to rendering. I use a painterly brush to do this and pay attention to the jagged shape I mentioned earlier. The brush I use is already tilted, so it's easy to manipulate to make such shapes.
Additionally, I experiment with Overlay, Multiply (or any!) layers with either airbrushes or hardbrushes— as I said there isn't a specified way of doing this. Go wild; for such is the nature of hair. Add any shapes or lines you find appealing, introduce new colors from the environment nearby too to make it moredynamic and interesting as well.
EDIT: An addition! On Rendering tips and advice
(apologies on leaving this out initially! I only realized I should include this now )
Including astray curved lines to simulate how hair flows also builds to the hair-like quality. I also prefer to use it closer to the silhouette of my character as it adds further detailing and a fluffier look in the end!
Attempt to render each strand according to this diagram in mind, note the parabole-like(?) shape for the light, and note standard 3d spheric shading for shadows.

A/N: i hope you guys don’t think i’m insane for how often i’m updating
Something amazing had just happened to you, and there was no one you wanted to tell more than Kuei. Your brother, who you loved more than anything. You could envision his pride already, the way his face would glow when he saw it, the way he’d pick you up and spin you around and tell you how happy he was.
It was as you ran down the carpeted hallway towards his chambers that you heard hushed voices coming from the room where your brother’s council of advisors met. He was still young, of course, a child as you were, and so the daily goings-on of the kingdom were managed by these advisors, who were all specialists in their field and had advised your father before Kuei.
Always more interested than your brother in this type of affair, you rested your back against the wall by the door, holding your breath so that you did not alert the men to your presence. They were speaking quietly, but they had left the door ajar by mistake, and so it was not very difficult for you to listen in.
“That boy is no king,” the first said. “Do you think his father would let Long Feng walk over him like that?”
“He is still a child,” the second said. “We cannot expect much from him.”
“Even as a child, he has no interest in learning statecraft, nor the history of his kingdom. He’s far too busy playing with his sister and drawing pictures of bears in his lesson book to absorb anything of use. I fear his reign will lead to the end of the kingdom as we know it,” the first argued. At this, the second sighed.
“You’re right about that much, to be sure. He does not have the power to back up the few proclamations he makes. What kind of general obeys a king like that?” the second said.
You swallowed, for these were words you knew to be treasonous. They were speaking ill of your brother, of the King Kuei, and they ought to lose their stations for it. There was nothing you could do, though; even if Kuei would believe you, who else would? Who would discharge two premier advisors on the words of a little girl?
“If only he were born an Earthbender,” the first said. “Then he could be trained. Then there would be a way that he could eventually gain the respect of the rest of the council.”
“There hasn’t been an Earth King who could Earthbend in many decades now,” the second said. “At this point, I’d even take a queen, if she could just do that much.”
“What do you mean by that?” the first said. The second huffed.
“You know. That sister of his,” he said. “If she shows some promise…if she can lift even a pebble…then we will do what we must in order for the kingdom to have a strong ruler.”
“You’d kill the king in favor of a queen?” the first said.
“If she can Earthbend, then I’ll kill anyone for her to rule,” the second said bluntly. “It’s about time that the world was reminded of why Shan’s line is so feared.”
“You are more daring than I thought, old friend!” the first said. “Let’s vow to keep an eye on the young princess. The moment she gives us a hint that she can Earthbend, we will strike.”
“And if she doesn’t?” the second said.
“Then we’ve lost nothing but a few spare moments spent caring for our dear king’s heir,” the first said. “It’ll only make us look better in the eyes of the royals. We really cannot lose in this scenario.”
“You’re right,” the second said.
You didn’t stay to hear the rest of it. Staring at your palms in horror, those very palms which might lead to your brother’s death, you ran back to your room as fast as you could, pressing your hands over your ears as you chanted the same thing to yourself under your breath, over and over like it was a mantra.
“I am not an Earthbender. I am not an Earthbender. I am not an Earthbender.”
“You know, I had a lot of fun with you,” you said, pulling on the end of Lee’s sleeve to get his attention. “Lee, I really am being serious. I enjoyed it.”
The two of you had spent the rest of the afternoon doing random things around Ba Sing Se. You had bought lunch for you both, and Lee had argued with the vendor until he agreed to give you the food for half-price, after which you had sat by the fountain and eaten together. It was surprisingly nice, even though neither of you had spoken much. Oddly, you didn’t mind silence with him. It was alright. It was nice, even.
“Yeah, whatever,” Lee said. “I guess you could say I had fun, too.”
“It wouldn’t kill you to admit that you like spending time with me,” you said.
“It might,” he said.
“Oh, save it. At the minimum, won’t you say that it was better than working the afternoon shift?” you said.
“That much is true,” he allowed. “But it’s back to work for me now. It’s just about time for the evening round to start.”
“For shame,” you said. “Let this not be the last time we do something like this together.”
“Okay,” he said gamely. You were actually taken aback, not expecting him to agree so readily. Lee was one of those particularly contrary people, the type to refuse on principle, even if he harbored no real misgivings, so for him to just say yes was out of character. You narrowed your eyes at him.
“Did you like your lunch that much?” you said.
“Huh?” he said.
“It’s just that I wasn’t expecting you to acquiesce so quickly. Normally, you would’ve pretended to deliberate over it for at least a minute or two,” you said.
“You told me a good story,” he said. “Do you blame me for wanting to hear more?”
“Ah, so I’m your new theology lecturer,” you said. “You should’ve said so from the start.”
“Not exactly,” he said, staring at his feet as he walked. “You’re something else.”
“Something else! And may I be privy to what that might be?” you said.
“No,” he said. “It’s for me to know, not you!”
By his tone alone, you could understand what that something else could represent, but you did not force him to explain further. He always gave you these considerations, never made you talk more than you offered, never demanded you elaborate, so you did the same for him, only humming a song your brother used to sing to you as you entered the tea house.
“This is where we must part, then,” you said when you and he reached the counter. Lee pulled his apron down from its hook and tied it back on miserably, already dimming, though you had not noticed until it was vanished that he had been close to happiness the entire time the two of you had been together.
“Lee, Y/N! You’re back!” Mushi said as he exited the kitchen. “How was it?”
You arched a brow at Lee, jerking your head towards Mushi, indicating that he had to respond in his own words. It was not just because it was polite; you wanted to hear it, too. What would he tell his uncle about the outing? What had he thought of it?
He finished tying the apron behind his back in a neat bow and rolled his sleeves up again, revealing his sinewy forearms. It was something you had always taken note of: he was far more well-built than you would’ve expected of an ordinary citizen. It was closer to the lithe musculature of the higher-ranked soldiers, but you had never come up with a satisfactory explanation for why he was like that.
“We had a good time,” he said shortly. “Am I serving or washing this time?”
“That is great to hear,” Mushi said. “I told you you would! And I think they want you serving tonight.”
He said something under his breath that you could not quite catch, but then he nodded, ducking beneath the counter to produce a tray. And though it meant that you would be late to the lighting of the fountain lamps, where you might meet the Blue Spirit, you found yourself lingering, trying to squeeze out every bit of time you could spend with Lee until you had to go for good.
You weren’t sure why you wanted to. It was a realization you were on the brink of arriving at, but you hadn’t quite reached yet. It just remained that that was how it was, that you preferred arguing with him to speaking fondly with anyone else, that you’d rather sit in silence with him than have an avid discussion with another person.
“Hey,” Lee said, pausing before you with the empty tray in his hands. “I’ll see you tomorrow, Y/N.”
“What a turn of events,” you said. “The very boy who tried to ban me from the shop is now inviting me back.”
“And the very girl who was once illiterate is now telling stories of her own,” he said with a wry half-grin. “Things change.”
The door slammed open, almost bursting off of its hinges, and you all but leapt out of your skin as a boy brandished a pair of hooked swords at you and Lee, a piece of grass sticking out of his mouth, incongruous with the rest of his regalia.
“That’s enough!” he shouted. “I’ve had enough of all of you! Since no one believes me, I’ll prove it myself!”
“What are you talking about?” one of the low-level militia members who frequented the shop said. “You have about ten seconds to drop those swords, boy.”
“That boy and the old man are Firebenders!” the boy shouted. “Judging by the girl’s closeness to them, she’s in on it, too! I bet she’s a Firebender as well!”
You thought it was ironic that he was accusing his own kingdom’s princess of being from another nation, but considering no one knew who you were, you could not share the humor you derived from the ridiculous declaration. Glancing at Lee, you saw that his mouth had set into a firm line.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about! You must be confused,” Mushi said.
“I saw you warming tea!” the boy said. Almost collectively, everyone in the shop rolled their eyes.
“Uh, yeah,” you said, speaking for the entire crowd when you did so. “He’s a tea-maker. They do tend to do that.”
“That’s not the point! How about this?” he said, jabbing his swords at the poor, defenseless Mushi, who backed away in concern. “I’ll just make you Firebend! If you do it in front of everyone, then there’s no way it can be denied any longer!”
As the boy rushed towards you, Mushi, and Lee, the militia man stood in your defense. Before he could do anything, though, Lee was taking the swords of the man’s back and pointing them at the boy.
“If it’s a show you want, then it’s a show you’ll get,” he said. You gasped as the two of them began to battle. Mushi took you by the arm, pulling you out of the way as Lee and the boy leapt atop the tables, slashing at one another with blows that were not meant to solely maim.
“What is happening?” you said as the clash made its way outside. “Since when can Lee use broadswords?”
“He’s a boy of many talents!” Mushi said as you followed the crowd outside. You hid behind him, peeping over his shoulder and clutching the back of his shirt when Lee sacrificed one of his swords so that the other boy would lose one of his.
“Will he be alright?” you said. You couldn’t understand the extent of your nerves, only that you were nervous. You didn’t want Lee to die, of course, but that was a natural reaction which any person might have. What was strange was that every time the boy’s hook whistled near Lee’s face, every time its wicked tip nearly caught on Lee’s arm, your heart leapt into your throat.
“He’s skilled, but this poor boy is confused. Someone, please help him!” Mushi said. “Oh, thank goodness.”
You weren’t sure why he was so relieved, but then you saw those familiar uniforms and squeaked before crouching behind Mushi. It was two Dai Li agents, come to take the other boy away — two Dai Li agents who, if they had turned their heads even a moment earlier, would’ve seen you and known that you had escaped the palace right under Long Feng’s nose.
“Are they gone?” you said as the crowd began to disperse. “Is everyone okay?”
“Yes, it’s all clear,” Mushi said. You looked around his legs, but he seemed to be telling the truth, so, straightening, you brushed yourself off.
“Thank Quynh,” you said with a shudder. “That was so frightening. Lee, are you fine?”
“It was nothing,” Lee said, wiping the sweat from his brow as he handed the militia man his swords back. His expression was still dark as he took off his apron and tossed it at his uncle. “I’m taking the rest of the day off, uncle.”
“Are you sure you’re okay?” you said, reaching out and placing your hand on his shoulder to stop him before he could stalk back into the tea shop. He whirled around, and you preemptively cringed back, already feeling sorry for asking, but it was too late.
“I said I’m fine!” he said. Upon noticing how you had already shrank away, though, his eyes widened. “Just…it’s fine. You should go, Y/N.”
“Right,” you said. “I’ll, um, see you around.”
He nodded, and then, before Mushi could convince you otherwise, before anyone could tell you to stop, you were running towards the fountain, the only place where you might find some solace, even if said solace had not come in so long.
Finding that familiar bench, you collapsed atop it, the stress of everything compounding until you were close to tears. What if Lee had really been injured? What if the Dai Li had not come in time and the boy had bested him? What if he ended up in the same state as some of the people you had seen in the Lower Ring? If he lost his arm or his leg, if another scar was sliced into his face, then what?
You had not been crying for very long when there were those same footsteps in front of you, the soft, light ones that you had all but memorized from how frequently you imagined them. Though you did not take your hands away from your face, you opened your fingers, peering through watery eyes at the figure squatting before you.
He tapped your wrists, and you let him pull your hands down, even though you were more than a little embarrassed to be found in such a state by the Blue Spirit, who always seemed so collected. Using your neckline to blot away your tears, you ignored your rational mind’s warning and threw your arms around his shoulders, resting your face against the crook of his neck.
“Things are so terrible, Blue Spirit,” you said, holding onto him as if he were an anchor. He was hesitant in reciprocating, but eventually, his own arms settled around your waist, keeping you in place if not pulling you closer. “My — my friend, have I told you about him? My friend, his name is Lee…I’d never say it to his face, but he’s someone I really admire. He’s so certain of himself and his opinions, and he’s not like Kuei or the servants at all — he’s really very witty, he can actually keep up with me and argue his own points when we speak instead of constantly bowing to my whims or dismissing them in turn! He’s my friend, my only friend, except you, but today he was attacked. Attacked! In my own city, he was attacked!”
The Blue Spirit patted you on the back. It was a little too rough to really be considered comforting, but you understand the intention and found that the effect was not lessened despite his ineptitude.
“I was so worried he might’ve been hurt,” you said. “What would have I done then? Who would I have if not him? You might not believe it, or maybe you might find it depressing, but I’ve really grown attached to him in the short time we’ve known one another. Besides you, he’s the only person who’s treated me normally, without reverence. I’m not her royal highness the princess when I’m with him. I’m just the frustrating Y/N who likes books and distracts him from his work.”
The Blue Spirit pulled away and shook his head at you. You laughed, though it was a thin, brittle sound.
“You don’t know the half of it,” you said. “It’s a wonder he gets anything done at all when I’m there. A testament to his character, maybe. Anyways, I think I’ve upset him.”
The Blue Spirit shook his head once more, but you could only stroke the cheek of his cool mask.
“Thank you for that, but I really have. It’s alright; I will apologize to him tomorrow. I was in the wrong for bothering him when he had been in such peril only seconds previously,” you said. “I’m sorry to you, as well, for burdening you with my troubles. It’s only that I hadn’t realized the truth of Ba Sing Se until now. I was told that the city was more dangerous than I expected before I came here, but until I experienced it myself, I didn’t quite appreciate what it entailed.”
The Blue Spirit nodded, using his gloved hand to swipe away the tear tracks which had dried on your face. You caught his hand and squeezed it.
“I want to show you something,” you said. “It’s a secret that I haven’t told anyone else in all my years of living, but since you’ve saved me twice already, I think that it’s alright if you know.”
He cocked his head as you trotted over to the fountain, fishing around in the water, pulling out one of the little glass lanterns that floated along the surface in the night, when the turtleducks had gone away to wherever they slept. Blowing out the candle, you smashed it against the ground, careful not to cut yourself on the twinkling shards.
“You see, the reason why I’ve been kept in the palace is because I’m a nonbender like my brother, like my father, like most of my family, in fact. It’s because I’m defenseless — or at least, because I’m thought to be,” you said. “But it’s not entirely like that. Er, the second thing is true, sadly. I am defenseless, or nearly so, but as for the rest of it…”
Gathering the pieces of glass in your palm, you concentrated on them, or, specifically, the tiny particles of earth which they were made of. It was not a feat of strength but of precision, and though you held no claim to the former, the latter was something you could proudly call yours.
Shielded by the Blue Spirit’s body on one side and the fountain on the other, the jagged edges of the glass smoothed and curled on your palm, melding together until they formed the shape you wanted them to: a sparkling lily, which you presented to the man.
“That’s the extent of it, I’m afraid,” you said as he held it up to the firelight. “Glass flowers and other such sculptures. I’m not particularly strong, you see, or if I am, then I’ve never been able to cultivate that strength. Bending exercises, repeated forms…I could not practice things like that for fear of what would become of Kuei if I did.”
He was obviously confused; you did not blame him. It was a confusing statement without the context behind it, so, staring at the rushing waters of the fountain, you began to explain.
“I was fairly young when I discovered that I could Earthbend,” you said. “I ran to tell my brother, but on the way there, I overheard a pair of his advisors saying that if I turned out to be an Earthbender, they’d kill my brother so I could take the throne. That was something I could not allow — he is my brother, you know. My only family. I could not let him die, too, so I swore off bending forever.
“I was not entirely successful. Bending is something that those of us who have it must perform frequently in order to be fulfilled, so my compromise was making things like that flower. Little artworks, which were innocuous enough that no one was ever suspicious as to their true origin. I didn’t have a traditional teacher, but Quynh — yes, the bear spirit, the patron of the Earth Kingdom, the great mother, that Quynh. I’m the princess, aren’t I? It only makes sense that she guided me. Anyways, she taught me that, if I could not train my power, then I had to refine my senses, so that I was sufficiently challenged without making my prowess obvious.
“At first, I only bent crystals, which are harder than pure earth but easier than glass to work with. Eventually, though, I grew bored of making small pieces of jewelry for Quynh, no matter how lovely she looked draped in diamonds and rubies. After that, I graduated to glass, and that’s what I do when I’m bored of reading and studying — I practice.
“I suppose you could call me the world’s only Glassbender,” you finished. “Not the first, but the only remaining, as Quynh was the only remaining bear. It’s not a very practical element, but it’s not like I’ll ever need to use it for anything but aesthetics, so for my own purposes, it’s suitable.”
The Blue Spirit admired the glass lily, and you laughed as he turned it over in his hands — a real laugh this time, not a despairing one. He was like a child, filled with such delight at the simple toy you had fashioned. For a while, he played with it, tracing each edge and crevice with his slender fingers, caressing each individual petal, and then finally, reluctantly, he offered it back to you.
“No, it’s a gift,” you said. “You can keep it. It’s not difficult for me to make more, and no matter how pretty it is, it’s really only glass. It’s not in rare supply by any means.”
He did not think twice, carefully tucking the flower away in the folds of his clothing. You smiled at him before raising your finger to your lips.
“It’s a secret, remember? No one can know I’m an Earthbender. No one can realize the truth, lest they depose Kuei and install me in his place,” you said.
The Blue Spirit offered you his hand, and for a moment you stared at it unsurely. It was a strange form of agreement, but then you understood — it was not his hand he was offering but his pinky finger. You interlocked your own with it, so that the deal was made, the secret sworn, and then you let go.
“Imagine how the civilians would laugh,” you said, sitting on the marble edge of the fountain and dipping your fingers in the water. “If they knew the truth. That name they call me is more apt than they realize, isn’t it? The Glass Princess. I really am one.”
He sat beside you, though he did not dip his own hand into the water. He only observed you, and though it might’ve been intense, uncomfortable, awkward, were it anyone else, it felt reasonable with him. Like that was what he was meant to be doing.
“Can I see your hand?” you said. He gave it to you readily, and you cradled it in yours, arranging it so that the palm was facing upwards, before pausing. “Is it alright if I take the glove off?”
You waited. For a moment, the night was utterly still as he thought about the request, and in that time, you came to notice things about the world which you had thus far been blind to.
The precise shade of his mask, which was a deep blue like sapphire-paint. It was something that you could never erase from your mind, the visage of your savior, the color which had stood between you and your death — but it was also the color that had unmasked the truth of your city to you. If it were not for the Blue Spirit, wouldn’t you still live in that same ignorance? You could not yet say you understood anything, but now you knew that there was something there which needed to be understood in the first place. Before, you were not even aware of that much.
The exact scent clinging to him, which was the delicate fragrance of the honey that some used as sweetener in place of sugar. It was not overwhelming nor heady; it was a soft, warm aroma, as gentle and inviting as candlelight.
The shushing rhythm of the fountain in the background, which was melodic in its sameness. It was another one of those sounds, the type that easily faded away when it was not on your mind but which was omnipotent when you paid attention. The steady flow of the water lulled you into another state — not sleep, because you could not sleep when you were so close to the Blue Spirit, but the opposite, a heightened awareness of both yourself and of him.
That was why time passed both agonizingly slowly and yet dizzyingly quickly, up until the moment that he nodded in agreement and whatever trance you had been in was broken.
Anticipation rushed through you as you took your free hand, the one not supporting his, and tugged on the end of the glove. It came off with a swift motion, and for the first time, there was the sensation of your skin touching his own.
“They say you can tell someone’s future by these marks,” you said, dancing your fingers along the creases of his palm. “It’s an ancient art. Very esoteric. I never learned much about it, but now, I wish I had.”
You wished you could read his future, untangle those winding ways into something comprehensible. The roadmap of the Blue Spirit’s life. You wished you could read it, could know if that destiny was one that included you in its course, but you did not say anything along those lines. You didn’t know what that desire meant yourself, and you didn’t want to frighten him, either, in case it sounded like something it was not.
Though his hands were surprisingly soft, there were calluses formed in the places where he gripped his swords. They were incredibly warm, too, though it was in a pacifying way, not with the sickly sense of fever. They were the hands of a warrior, but also the hands of vanity, and it relieved you to see that even the perfect, infallible Blue Spirit was prone to this fault.
“If only I were more like you,” you said. “Ba Sing Se is in such a state of disrepair, and I can do nothing but offer coins to those I come across, in the hopes that I might alleviate their personal struggles. That’s not hardly enough, though. For every one person I can help, tens of others do not get the same chance. Tens of others continue to suffer from a problem that I cannot identify. What princess does not even know why her subjects are in such pain? What princess can do so little about it?”
The love for your kingdom or the love for your brother? If you were the queen, would things be any different? Would Ba Sing Se be in a better position, or would it all be the same? Well, it was a moot point now. You were not an Earthbender in any way that mattered. The advisors had longed to instate you so that you could remind the world of the power of Shan’s line, but as it was, you would only make a mockery of your famed ancestor. The man who had established the entire Earth Kingdom, left with a great-to-the-nth-degree granddaughter who could only bend glass. That was his lineage. That was his legacy.
“My forefathers must be so ashamed of me,” you said. “What have I ever done with my life? What is there that I can still do? I am the Glass Princess, and that’s all I will be remembered as. King Kuei’s sister who would’ve watched Ba Sing Se fall if it meant she could keep her pretty jewels and fancy dresses.”
Taking another lantern, removing its candle, you twisted the glass into a miniature replica of the Earth Palace. It was meticulous and perfect; such was the training Quynh had given you, after all. Form over function. Accuracy over mass. Mental fortitude over physical fortification.
“That’s where I am,” you said, tapping the minuscule window. “All of the time, unless I am with you or in the tea shop. That’s the extent of my world.”
Two finger lengths long. That was your existence in summary. You put the Blue Spirit’s glove back on and gave him the model of the palace.
“In case you ever visit,” you said. “So you don’t get lost. Come see me if you do, won’t you?”
He didn’t offer you his pinky this time, but you figured that when he nodded his head in acceptance, he still meant it as a promise.

Procreate (12.99) [iPad/iPad Pro] (the GOAT)
Artstudio Pro [iPad/iPad Pro] (An alternative to Procreate if you enjoy the more traditional art app layout) -- I find this app handy when Procreate is lacking a feature I need, or vice versa. (you can easily transfer files between the two, but keep in mind Procreate's layer limit)
2D "Collaborative Painting/Drawing apps"
Magma Studio
Drawpile
Discord Whiteboard
Gartic Phone (Pretty decent for 2d animation practice, but has a hard limit on frames)
3D
Blender [3D Modelling, Sculpting + Layout] (PC)
Sculptris [PC] (it's an old unsupported version of Zbrush, but can help to get ideas out, and functions better than browser sculpting apps
Nomad Sculpt [iPad/iPad Pro] ($20) Works pretty well if you prefer a mobile setup, but it is a bit intense on the battery life and takes some getting used to
References + Study
Magic Poser [ PC and Mobile ] Has both free and paid versions, I've made do with just the lite version before
Artpose ($9.99) [Iphone + Steam]
Head Model Studio [IPhone] A 3D head, with both a basic blockout version for angles, and a paid version with more detail
Cubebrush [simply search "[keyword] pose reference pack"], they usually have good results + they frequently have sales!
Line of Action [Good for Gesture practice + daily sketching], also has other resources built in.
Quickposes Similar to Line of action, more geared toward anatomy
Drawabox | Perspective Fundamentals Improvement modules (Suggested by @taffingspy )
Sketchfab, this skull in particular is useful, but there is other models that can help you study anatomy as well.
Pinterest can be good, you just have to be careful, usually you're better off just finding reference pack if you have the money, sometimes certain creators have freebies as well
Artstation Marketplace can be decent [make sure to turn on the Aye-Eye filter so it doesn't feed you trash], a colleague of mine recommended this head model for practicing facial blocking, there is also this free version without lighting.
Local Art Museums [Unironically good for studying old "master work" if you're into that, or even just getting some inspiration]
Brushes + Other Useful software:
I personally have used both of these brush packs before making my own
(I actually don't know how to share my daily brush set because I frequently switch between Krita, Procreate, and ASP, but once I figure that out I'll be sure to do that lol)
Marc Brunet's Starter brush pack [Technically free but supporting him for this if you like it is ideal, there's some good brushes]
Dave Greco Brush Pack [$3]
Gumroad in general is a good place to find brushes and art resources. *Note; for Krita specifically, brush packs are a bit weird, so it may require you to find different packs, or import them in a particular way
PureRef [PC] - Reference Compiler/Moodboarding
VizRef ($3.99) [iPad] - Moodboarding/Reference Compiler
Artist Youtubers/Creators that helped me improve/guide me along as a self-taught artist from when I first started digital art to where I am today:
Proko
Marco Bucci
Sinix Design
Sycra
Hardy Fowler
Lighting Mentor
Winged Canvas
Moderndayjames
Swatches
Chommang_drawing
Marc Brunet (YTartschool)
+ Observing a lot of speedpaint art by people whose work I enjoy on social media/youtube, trying to dissect their processes
If you've gotten this far, first of all, congrats, you can read a lot, and second of all, thank you for reading and I hope this helps! I'll continue to come back and update this if I find any new resources in the future, or if my processes change :)
Much Love,
-Remidiy

Since it looks like ivory's streams are gone now, I compiled a list of all of her Showtime SMP streams, so that there's at least some record of their existence. I provided links (in blue) to alternative povs of the events, if any exist for the given day, and included brief descriptions of what happened. In parentheses are the titles and links of the now deleted streams. Enjoy!
All dates are in 2023.
9. 6. ivory's video. Gets gear, and a horse named Lewidor. Not in character. The video Becoming a Minecraft Dictator is a summary of the first few days, with kinda a more self-aware, comedic take on it. (Title: its showtime.)
10. 6. Zolister. Announces her Watchkeeper reign, then talks about morals with Vi and chat. (Title: ivory makes an announcement)
12. 6. ivory's video. Hunts down her first person, Rylan. The video Hunting Minecraft’s Most Elusive Player sums it up very well. (Title: showtime smp)
13.6. None. Makes a grave for her horse Lewidor with Vi. Vi then shows her his therapy office. (Title: lewidor's funeral)
22. 6. Vi. Gets introduced to kantje and Effy. Kills Cupid, then Mugm in an arena duel, then Rylan. Then hangs out with Vi. (Title: SHOWTIME SMP)
25. 6. None. Builds a drowned farm (with Vi and Loppezz, if I remember correctly), and kills Tidus in a very drawn out battle. (Title: happy tuesday.)
28. 6. Nebula. Killing Strobe, which she felt really bad for. (Title: i love murder.)
2. 7. Nebula. Killing Nebula. (Title: i am normal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
4. 7. Zolister and Vi. Gets hunted down by a group of people. The bit where she gets hunted is gone now though. (Title: frog)
5. 7. None. Family roadtrip with Vi, Zolister and Rasplin. Ends with Vi trying (and succeeding) to prevent the other three from killing each other. (Title: SNOG)
9. 7. kantje. Casino opening day, she threatens the owners after they put her kill list up for auction. (Title: shoe time)
16. 7. Vi and Zolister and kantje. The petition against ivory's regime. She refuses to step down, and gets killed repeatedly. (Title: SHOWTIME SMP SUNDAY and the n NIERAUTOMAA)
17. 7. None. VN43 makes a deal with her: he will provide her with resources, and in exchange she will give him some power if she wins the election. Both are very willing to betray each other. (Title: nothing - showtime smp AND THEN OMORI)
21. 7. Vi. Talks with Vi, looks for a location for a new base, briefly talks with Win, Trashy, and Divy. (Title: showtime smp - WAHOO)
23. 7. None. Looking for a potential base location and grinding. She (half by accident, half on purpose) finds someone’s secret base. Not in character. (Title: SHOWTIME SMP)
26. 7. None. Just grinding for resources. Not in character. (Title: showtime smp CHILLING. NO MURDER.)
6. 8. Zolister. Gets told about The Silencers by kantje, kills Zolister, tears down her house. She starts "glitching out", reminiscent of the I Killed God video. Alluded/talked to Ebony (clarification). (Title: showtime smp sunday)
7. 8. None. Renovating an ancient city, getting rid of the shriekers. Not in character. (Title: im going to kil)
9. 8. None. Hangs out with CherryNyx, who asks her questions about humanity. Then works on her base. (Title: im)
13. 8. None. Building an iron farm in her base. Not in character. (Title: gorgle)
18. 8. Vi. The election. (Title: SHOWTIME SMP ELECTION)
Bonus: ivory didn’t stream these, but they are relevant. If you have more of these, let me know.
23. 6. Vi: Vi and ivory hang out, and discuss ivory's mental state.
20. 8. Win/Boba/ Vi: ivory’s goodbye letter.
28. 10. Vi: (Unborn Solipsism) has a scene where ivory tells Vi goodbye.
Bonus two: these ivory streams were not actually on Showtime, but were related. Not super useful information, but here you go.
30. 6. gug. Analysing her video Becoming a Minecraft Dictator.
13. 7. WEEE. Analysing her video Hunting Minecraft’s Most Elusive Player.
18. 7. showtime smp reading stream (then drawing). Reading Showtime SMP fanfics.
31. 7. showtime smp base planning. In a creative world, planning out the design of her ancient city base.
#thank you vod archivists. the spreadsheet was very helpful#lmk if you have any additions or questions#unfortunately most of her quiet introspective moments are not in others' povs#ivorycello#showtime smp#endrin’s posts#ivory

Ask Compilation: Advice, influences and Misc.
Apologies for taking so long on some of these, admittedly I'm much more likely to entirely forget about asks that are about me and my interests 💃 Thank you for all the questions regardless! And thank you specially to everyone who just drops nice messages into my inbox out of kindness.
I'm brazillian and a native portuguese speaker!
I'll probably return to twitter eventually, but a) I hate that place and b) It didn't make much sense to me to turn it into a BG3 account out of the blue. I am considering making an Instagram or a new twitter just to have more places where people can follow in case they don't care for tumblr, but it's just been a very busy year so far and so that's kind of low on the list of priorities. If I ever do that I'll be sure to announce it here. Have a nice day yourself!
Sorry to hear that! I've gotten a few messages before about this issue, and the problem is that since I am myself not from the US, my options are also limited :( a lot of patreon alternatives don't work for me because they either don't go through paypal, take insane currency conversion fees, or just straight up block me from signing up.
Speak for yourself, I just assume everyone I speak to online has committed some sort of atrocious crime until proven otherwise. Except for me - of course. I have never done anything bad in my life.
I still have a lot to learn! But I will basically use whatever works for me at the moment, as well as make a sincere effort to learn about musculature and anatomy so I can understand those components and how they move, instead of only knowing what they look like when still - that's how you get better at drawing from memory. Volume mostly comes from coloring and understanding light, which is it's own beast but can very much be learned from similar reference materials and observing it IRL!
My favorite places to get reference are medical diagrams, weird pictures I take of myself, 3D software (often Virt-a-mate) and questionably phrased image google searches.
My favorite artists are Jason Shawn Alexander and Sean Murphy, but I'm not sure how much of it reflects in my art nowadays! I generally seek to pick up techniques from artists rather than to emulate style.
Honestly I love that you guys generally do the thing he would hate the most: take him very non-seriously LOL
I've been in a real Chelsea Wolfe and Amyl And The Sniffers kick lately! But usually you'll also find me listening to stuff like Boy Harsher, Swans, FWF, JK Flesh Lingua Ignota, Nick Cave, David Bowie, and so on. Music for the weird gays, basically.
I went insane and wrote a 23-chapter-long-and-still-ongoing fic in like four months. But also - I'm not that good, I'm just shamelessly pretentious LOL
Hm. That's a good question, but I'm not really sure. Sincerely not trying to be a edgier-than-thou here (in fact, this has made me a little self conscious at one time or another) but a lot of art that I don't mean to be horror-y in nature at all has been associated with the genre. So perhaps I don't know what I'm doing either, LOL.
I think just leaning on making things look slightly "wrong" or "ugly" on purpose is the way, but I also find that if you just seek to depict people as they are instead of idealized versions of themselves, you will arrive at that either way.
Thank you for reading! Honestly, I'm guilty of having not read much at all since I was in my late teens, and the style I'm employing for ANE is very different from the things I would call "influential" for me, or even that I used to enjoy reading at all before. I read a lot of Chuck Palahniuk as a youth (and, no slight to people who do like him still, but nowadays I'm not sure why I ever did. His stories don't speak to me at all anymore) as well a lot of weird experimental lit that I didn't even care to remember the name of. My last book stint from one or two years ago was composed solely of historical and medical literature, and last year I got really into Cormac Mcarthy thanks to the internet.
So, all in all, I'm absolutely all over the place LOL if you put a gun to my head and told me to list my favorite books, I'd say The Indifferent Stars Above and Blood Meridian.
(Consider the reading portion of the question to have been answered above) I really really liked Beau is Afraid and think it's a really great "horror" movie. Sue me.

(Image ID: A redesign of Twisted Astro from Dandy's World. The drawing in the top right is of non-twisted Astro, who has also gotten a slight redesign. His cap and gown have now merged into one hooded cape, with a gradient of purple to blue. He wears slippers. The twisted version is much lankier, resembling a leafless tree. The light side of Astro's face has turned a bright red and can barely be seen over the large amount of shadow now overtaking it. His eyes, which are the only seeable part of his face, are wide and bloodshot. Instead of a pom-pom at the end of his night cap, it is a hook. The two drawings to the left of that are showing his alternate facial expression and form, where a wide smile spreads across his face and his skeletal, four-armed body can be seen coming out from under the cape. End ID)
I might remake a few twisteds since I'm playing this game a lot with a friend! I think they should incorporate the moon theming of Astro more into his twisted design.
Comparison under the cut!
(Image ID: In-game Twisted Astro and redesigned Twisted Astro side-by-side. In-game Astro is tall, with four arms visible at all times. He has one red eye and a very long night cap that trails behind him. His skin is splotched with black ichor. End ID)
Fun fact: I based his redesign off of my first encounter with him, where all I could hear was his sound effects around the walls!

“Probably no harmful side effects to this at all.”
Here’s Vio’s Slime Rancher AU design! I wasn’t entirely sure what I was working with when I went into this, but I think it turned out alright-ish in the end. ^~^’
He was supposed to have more of a scientist vibe, but I didn’t want to take too much inspiration from Viktor, so this is the route I went instead. He’s a little unhinged, but he’s keeping it together. Mostly.
More details about Vio's role in the AU below the cut if anyone is interested!
I touched on a few details already back in this post, but I've had a few more concepts in mind since then, so I'll go ahead and list them now so I don't forget later.
+ Vio was the first to arrive at the shared ranch and spent about a year alone before Shadow arrived. In that time, he explored a majority of the map on his own, save for the ruins and desert. He was actually in the process of figuring out how to get into the ruins when Shadow arrived, which sidetracked him a bit.
+ Due to being one of the first inhabitants of the Far, Far Range, Vio didn't have a lot of information to work off of with the Slimepedia, so he made his own guide for navigating the wilderness. Needing to discover more slimes was the main thing tripping him up with the ruin's Slime Gate.
+ Vio is the only one in the group to have a tongue piercing. It takes varying lengths of time for everyone to discover that fact though. Shadow noticed it the quickest.
+ Because of prolonged exposure to Quantum Slimes (one of which he may or may not have eaten, for science purposes), Vio's physical form occasionally glitches and/or becomes more transparent. Luckily, he doesn't seem to create "ghosts," but if left unchecked he does start to hear things in other realities.
These glitches aren't very frequent, and can be fixed by either inflicting pain or splashing water on him. He opts to inflict pain rather than get wet constantly, it's what his bracelet is secretly for.
+ As a side effect of his reality-warped perception, talking to Vio when he's less physically stable can net some interesting results. Mostly just jumbled or gibberish sentences and the occasional mixed topics. Something akin to, "the slime even the yet carrot gold, no, what?"
+ For at least a year and a half, Vio used his vacpack in his non-dominant hand simply because it wasn't designed for left-handed people. He wanted to wait for someone else to show up before attempting to tinker with it, just in case he broke it beyond repair.
Upon realizing Shadow, and later on, Red, were also both left-handed, he figured this might be an oversight to report to 7Zee after all.
+ Whenever someone has a question about the Slimepedia specifically, they go to Vio. He knows way too much about everything, to the point where he's actually a little burnt out on the whole exploring thing. He still runs experiments, but he's almost done with all he can think of doing out there.
+ At some point, Vio was able to talk with an alternate version of himself. Though the content of that conversation is unknown, he did become noticably warmer towards the others afterwards. The idea of becoming like that alternate self is haunting.
(Hint: alt-Vio found new test subjects to play with.)
+ His soft spot for Red and Shadow is more obvious, but he has his tells with Green and Blue as well.
He rather likes having objectives to focus on, and Green trusts him to handle the more difficult tasks, so he won't complain if Green bosses him around a little. But only a little.
With Blue, it's more subtle. He doesn't fight as hard as he used to over his lack of self-care. If Blue shows up at his lab demanding he take a break and eat food/nap/etc, he only pushes back a little before giving in. Otherwise Blue might try to manhandle him, and that's just embarrassing.
+ The little pouch on his leg is for medical supplies. Namely bandages, just in case his bracelet punctures skin and draws blood.
Bonus: Close-up details of Vio's eyes because the glitch effect there is almost always occurring, unlike his full-body one.
(The way I draw this will probably change in the future if I continue on with this AU, but it looks okay enough for now.)
#it’s the morally corrupt one!#slime rancher edition!!#he's a lil' buggy but that's okay#four swords#vio link#the other's are mentioned#rambling#slime rancher au

Power Ranger Colors and What They Mean (According to the TTRPG)
I got my hands on the core rulebook for the Power Rangers Essence20 TTRPG and I wanted to share the information in both the core rulebook and the A Jump Through Time expansion book pertaining to the Morphin Grid colour spectrums. The Morphin Grid chooses rangers based on their distinctive personality, with the spectrum selected being best suited to them.
All text in quote marks is directly pulled from both the Power Rangers Roleplaying Game Core Rulebook and the Power Rangers Roleplaying Game: A Jump Through Time sourcebook.
Red Spectrum: The Leaders
"Born leaders and warriors through and through, candidates chosen to embody the noble spirit and fighting prowess that each Red Ranger uses to stand proud and strong in the front lines of their Ranger teams. They are fearless fighters that show their teammates how to defend the Morphin Grid personally. Ready with their firsts, their blades, and an inspiring show of leadership, Red Rangers are almost always the first into a fight.
Stand Tall and Fierce! Red Rangers personify the kind of proud nobility and martial skill prowess it takes to lead a Power Ranger team. Subtlety and subterfuge are not the kinds of skills that tend to be important to a Red Ranger, as their candidates are chosen for their ability to think on their feet and solve problems directly rather than trying to find ways around them. Red Rangers are, by no means, unintelligent or ignorant. They just tend to excel at taking trouble head on.
Always Ready to Help. The strength and sanctity of the Power Ranger team is, at their core, where a Red Ranger draws its strength. Their fighting styles revolve around teaming up on enemies, dealing decisive blows after a teammate has softened them up, and either serving as the core of a team's Grid Zord Megaform, or alternatively, standing back to back on their own fighting Zord with a Megaform made up of the rest of the team!
A Long and Noble Line. Stretching as far back as to when the Morphin Grid has needed them, Red Rangers have had a place on their most successful champion teams. Across dimensions and across time, those noble warrior leaders have all had the same ideal embossed on their very core: the team comes first, and its enemies cannot be allowed to harm its members. Even if a Red Ranger has had to put themselves directly on the line in the name of their teammates, they would do so gladly for the sake of their friends."
Blue Spectrum: The Thinkers
"Those chosen to embody the energy of the Blue Ranger will be the closest member of the team to the inner workings of the Morphin Grid itself. Candidates for becoming a Blue Ranger are selected for their brains far more than their fighting skills, choosing to use the Morphin Grid's many facets to design all of the tools, technology, and special equipment the team might need. If it runs on the Power within the Grid, the Blue Ranger is likely to be the one to decipher, understand and ultimately help the team wield it against the forces of evil.
Team Technician. Blue Rangers embody the Morphin Grid's ability to design and create constructs and devices using millennia of knowledge from around the universe. They are the most likely member of the team to discover an alien item, piece of technology, or special construct that will help solve the problem or overcome and obstacle. While other teammates might spend their time working on new fighting techniques or Zord maneuvers, a Blue ranger is probably seeking knowledge about the past to better deal with the future.
Brains Over Brawn. Unlike candidates chosen for other colors of Ranger in the Spectrum, people chosen to be Blue Rangers are rarely looked at save for their most basic fighting abilities or combat instincts. Instead, they are chosen for their brilliant minds and the ingenuity they bring to the team. Blue Rangers embody the logical calculation it takes to see a victory and how to achieve it before the first punch is ever laid on a Putty. As a Power Ranger they will have to battle the forces of evil, but they personify the idea of fighting smarter, not harder.
A Stoic Role. For as long as there have been Power Ranger teams, the Blue Ranger has not only been the technician and the inventor for their teammates, but also the stalwart memory of the Morphin Grid itself. The history of all that has gone before flows through the color of the Spectrum and this is personified in not only their abilities and skills, but in the beasts and creatures from which their Zords take shape. They are animals that embody wisdom and mysticism; the triceratops, the unicorn, and sphinx are all infused with the Blue Ranger's energy."
Black Spectrum: The Charmers
"Rangers that are imbues with the Black energy of the Morphin Grid tend to be social charmers, entertainers, and the real life of the party. They are the personification of team unity, and a lot of what they do helps keep the bonds between members strong and tight. Black Rangers are equally adept at fighting back to back with their friends, showing that the team comes first and always ready to stand up for any part of it.
Dance, Song, Jokes. One collective way that Black Rangers tend to reach their teammates with their special brand of reinforcing positivity is through light-hearted behaviors not commonly found in a staunch warrior. Whether that is through telling one liner jokes, harmless limericks or rhymes, singing pleasant tunes, and maybe even just showing with a little personal dance, Black Rangers connect their team members to themselves and each other.
Good Leaders. When a Ranger more dedicated to leadership, like a Red or White Ranger, isn't available for the team, Black Rangers often step up and take the role. Their dedication to team strength and cooperation put them in a great place to make collective plans, and their teammates rarely have reason to question what motivates a Black Ranger. While they tend to be the glue between their team standing at its forefront is just as natural to them.
Stalwart Anchors. A Black Ranger's Zord, whether it hails from the depths as a Dinozord or even a humanoid Shogunzord or Battle Borg, represent being a defensible root or anchor for the team's other Zords. Animal shapes are often tough, armored, quadruped beasts known for their ability to withstand tremendous adversity. Humanoid Zords are thick-limbed and wield heavier weaponry. Vehicular Zords revolve around being a hard punch, and anvil upon which the other rangers in the team can rely."
Yellow Spectrum: The Artists
"Chosen for their understanding of the arts, both creative and martial, candidates to accept the power of the Yellow Ranger should be clever, witty, and full of originality. They are fast thinkers and just as fast on their feet, able to judge where best to apply their skills and get there quickly to do so. The Yellow energy of the Spectrum chooses those with adaptable minds and agile hands to wield its power. Yellow Rangers are not the hammer in the toolbox, they are the paintbrush. Instead of apply a direct single solution that may pass or fail in one fell swoop, a Yellow Ranger is drawn to using many smaller applications of their skills to build up to a more certain solution.
Soul of the Team. Where other Rangers of the Spectrum fill certain roles like inventor, leader or supporting healer, Yellow Rangers are like the water in which their boats sail upon. A Yellow Ranger is a friend, a confidante, and always ready to stand shoulder-to-shoulder or back-to-back with one or more of their teammates. Their team can count on them to be there, chipping away at and coming up with solutions for the same problems and obstacles the team might face.
Right Place, Right Time. Speed. Speed is part of what makes a Yellow Ranger able to be in many places at once, and capable of lending their help when it is needed most. Yet this is not the kind of speed that is measured in races and sprints. It is not mere how far they can run, it is the ability to act on the go, and put their skills to good use here, there and anywhere they are needed as they maneuver through a conflict.
Hands On Fighter. Yellow Rangers have the fastest hands and feet on a Power Ranger Team. While other Rangers might hit harder or at a distance, Yellow Rangers are empowered to strike fast and furiously up close. What another warrior might inflict with a single blow that could be turned aside or dodged, these Rangers strike from every different angle. Their foes are worn down in seconds, and they might never have realized where the tidal wave of blows ever even came from."
Pink Spectrum: The Sharpshooters
"Infused with one of the supporting energies in the Spectrum, Pink Rangers are warriors that specialize in backing up their team from the rear ranks. They are archers, snipers, and markspeople of the highest caliber. When a Pink Ranger is on the team, the rest of their allies can always fight confidently knowing that a Grid-enhanced sharpshooter is watching their back.
Can't Catch Me! Pink Rangers are solid martial artists, but first and foremost they are ranged combat experts with numerous abilities and talents that benefit the team most when they are outside of the reach of an enemy. They are nimble, agile, and often chosen for their gymnastic talents. These skills are perfect for dodging out of trouble's way to get a better vantage point to pick off Putties and Tengas that might threaten their friends!
True Heart. It takes a lot of heart and trust in their teammates to stand in the rear or on the flanks, picking off enemies a few at a time instead of wading in and fighting back to back with their friends. They fill their team with hope and good will; sometimes with words, sometimes with actions. When a Power Ranger looks over their shoulder, whether it is at the local juice bar hanging out or in the middle of a field of Eye Guy's floating minions, and sees their Pink Ranger is watching, they can trust they are in good hands.
Best Defence. Pink rangers are light on their feet and lightly armored within their shell, but their energy and their training makes up for it by simply keeping the enemy from getting their hands on them. They duck and dodge most incoming threats, relying on their teammates to lend a hand when things get thick, but always taking down important targets as they dance, flip, and dart around the battlefield."
Green Spectrum: The Survivalists
"Possessing a rare wavelength of energy within the Morphin Grid, Green Rangers are the loners and the outsiders. They join with Ranger teams when they can, but still tend to work on the outside of operations and do so in a way to maintain the sanctity of the team concept. Green Rangers are ready for anything, whether they line up as part of a team or if they stand alone against the forces of evil.
Still Part of the Spectrum. The Green Ranger was once unleashed by General Repulsa as a weapon of her own, but it took her ancient arcane powers to do so. This goes to show that the Green Ranger is not a pawn to be pushed around, but instead a powerful part of the Morphin Grid, same as any other. They just might seem to play on their own better than other members of their team. They are the rogues, the wildcards, and they are good at playing by their own rules.
Fight Hard for Victory. Green Rangers, whether they have a Power Ranger Team to fall back upon or not, have an uphill battle to prove themselves worthy of the gift that has been placed upon them. They are skilled fighters that take on threats that entire teams might try and face, normally long enough to get the rest of the team involved to achieve victory. Their fighting styles might be less conventional than other Rangers, but no one would argue that it doesn't get the job done.
Unique Connection. Being apart from the common Spectrum for as long as it had been, the Green energy wavelength has a different and truly unique way that it interacts with the Morphin Grid. It can seamlessly bond with other rangers to be a part of a team, linking its Grid Zord to one or more other members' to form specialized Megazords in some cases, and staying separately devastating when they do battle on their own. It is as if the Morphin Grid itself understands the wildcard nature of the Green Ranger and has adapted to it accordingly."
Orange Spectrum: The Creatives
"The Orange energy of the Morphin Grid's Ranger Spectrum embraces the power of imagination, inspiration, and artistry. Orange Rangers are filled with personality and creativity, along with the flexibility to improve their team. They tend to be inventors, artists, creators of ideas, and dreamers. Their flexibility lets them fill any need or position on the team, especially if the work allows them to set their creative mind to completing their task in some new and exciting way.
Creativity Rules. The Orange energy of the Grid attaches itself to creative mentalities. It then enhances their ability to think outside the box and gives them the power needed to wield it on behalf of the side of good. They find new ways to accomplish tasks or overcome obstacles, often improvising or taking unorthodox paths.
Team Player. Even though an Orange Ranger excels when working alone due to their powers of creativity, they can also boost the team in many ways. Orange Rangers see the abilities and gifts of their fellow Rangers and, through the power of their part of the Spectrum, find more ways to wield them. When a team is hoping they need a particular proficiency or tool, even if they already have one but need two, an Orange Ranger can figure out a way to make that happen.
One of a Kind. Unlike many other kinds of Ranger, who maintain a physical image like the other team members, those wielding the Orange Spectrum alter their Morphin shell to express their creativity. This sort of individuality is rare for the core elements in the Ranger Spectrum."
Purple Spectrum: The Passionate
"Purple Rangers wield the power of the Grid through their emotions, primarily fueled by memories. All the hardships they endured, the people they loved, and the camaraderie of the friends they made fuel the forge of power inside every Purple Ranger.
Passion Power. Power Rangers know and understand the benefits of giving in to passion and keeping an emotional connection to all that drives them. Rage and anger can be necessary for enemy conflict, happiness can sweep away stressful hindrances, and the love of a best friend can make anyone a wall of defence when they are in harm's way. These feelings add to a Purple Ranger's power.
Make your mark. Each Purple Ranger draws upon their feelings in different and unique ways. One might lean into their rage and fury, showing their ferocity as an aggressive feel to their Morphed form. Another could stand defiantly in the path of harm, revealing how much they care for their fellows. Exactly how their feelings shape them is different for each Ranger, a sign that the Morphin Grid's energies also listen to their heart.
Always Adapting. The nature of most sapient beings is to feel, and just as feelings can change, so can how a Purple Ranger uses them. They might find roots in their anger or a foundation in the sense of calm, but how they apply those tools can change at a moment's notice. Purple Rangers are fluid and malleable, changing how they need to come at the obstacles and enemies in their way based on the situation and their feelings at the time."
Advanced Spectrum (White): The Purehearted
"Like the wavelength of light itself that it represents, the White energy of the Morphin Grid is like the raw energy pouring into the prism to be split into the necessary parts for the team to be at its best. There doesn't always have to be a White Ranger on a Power Ranger team, but it goes without saying that the teams that can draw on the pure and just power of their energy are some of the strongest the Morphin Grid has ever known. They are like a two sided-coin. One one side you have a strong and valiant leader, but on the other you have a noble warrior capable of standing against evil on its own.
Elevated Champion. Not just any candidate can become one with the White energy. They need to hold the concept of the Morphin Grid's power close to their hearts and stand is its very champion. White Rangers are not always the leaders of their teams, but they cannot ignore their will and desire to stand at the forefront and protect their teammates. A White Ranger will fight to the bitter end for their friends.
Valiant Leader. White Rangers frequently fall into the role of leading their Ranger teams, and their skills and abilities only augment this. They fight bravely, they defend fearlessly, and they orchestrate their follow Ranger to work together as a better team. The White energy in the Spectrum comes with a strong need to stand against the enemies of good, and those who wield it are often the legends remembered throughout history.
Ranger and Zord as One. Unlike other wavelengths in the Spectrum, White energy focuses itself thought the Grid using unique and powerful relics, like Tommy's beloved tiger-blade, Saba. This somehow connects the inner essence of the White Rangers to their Morphin Grid constructs tighter than that between a normal Ranger's Morpher and their Zord, Borg etc. This is why it seems that White Rangers bring new and special kinds of Zords to fight alongside those of their teams. Their Zords are just as worthy of leading the charge as they are."
