Not sure if someone else has asked this, but what's your opinion on Lilia?He was quite low on your twst character tierlist so i was wondering if there was a specific reason(s) lol.I love hearing others insights and perspectives on Lilia since he is one of the most interesting characters in twst imo. 🦇

[Referencing my personal Twst character tier list!]

I originally had Lilia pretty high up (in the "like" tier) back in about 2022? I thought he was pretty chill and fun, an interesting contrast to the rest of Diasomnia, who come off as very serious or somber. But over time... I became increasingly annoyed with his behavior. As I state in this post, which documents changes in my feelings on the Twst characters over time, I still think Lilia's a far better parental figure than some of the other adults we've seen in Twst, but what really kills him for me is how overly lenient he is, specifically as it pertains to Malleus. Lilia's lapses in maturity no longer read as a cute quirk, they now come off as failures to be stern with those under his care.

One thing that really bothers me about Malleus is how he makes mistake after mistake but is never properly called out for them by the narrative. I'm not frustrated that he messes up (this is normal and expected for everyone because we're all imperfect!), I'm frustrated that Malleus doesn't seem to realize that he messed up most of the time. And if you're not aware of the issue, how can you target and address it??? I feel that part of this problem is because Lilia enables Malleus or doesn't fully commit to scolding him or taking the situation seriously when he really, REALLY should.

Back in book 2, Lilia tells Leona off for his underhanded tactics, calling him unworthy of the crown (and to be clear, Lilia has a right to be mad here, because Leona was literally threatening the health, safety, and wellbeing of his liege). However, where Lilia loses me is when he declares that Malleus is the noble and superior king when... ironically, we never see Malleus truly "lead" or even strongly express any positions on policies or governance. Lilia doesn't seem to hold Malleus accountable for doing any of his supposed duties either. I understand him filling in for Malleus at dorm leader meetings since he's often unreachable for them, but how come Lilia is handling so much of the dorm leader work, repeatedly makes excuses for Malleus not being there, AND fake cries and tries to shove the responsibility of finding Malleus onto other dorm leaders??? Azul is right when he says "What are we supposed to do, begin every meeting by searching for Malleus? This is HIS problem." Vil also rightfully points out that "Both [Lilia] and [Malleus] are making a mockery of this." Lilia ONLY begins to take the situation seriously when Leona and Idia begin questioning Malleus' and his royal status/how fit he is to rule. Why was he not concerned earlier???? If Lilia was REALLY concerned about Malleus connecting with his peers and making the most of his time at school, shouldn't he agree with them and push hard for Malleus to show up on his own???

I feel Lilia is extremely non-committal in that entire set of vignettes. One minute he's upset the dorm leaders "insinuated [skipping meetings] reflected poorly on [Malleus's] behavior", implying that Lilia disagrees with that take??? The next, he's telling Malleus off for "making excuses" and how he "ought to put more thought" into his conduct. Lilia even says that Malleus shares a fair bit of the blame and makes no effort to connect with his peers. But then when Malleus returns from a failed attempt, all Lilia does is laugh about it and not give him any proper closure or advice on what he can do better next time??? Which makes me think that all the times Lilia tries to advise Malleus now feel like just lip service. Where's the actual... I don't know, TEACHING????

That's not the only thing with Lilia. He frequently enables Malleus instead of properly showing him right from wrong (and yes, being TOO lenient is not great parenting). Instead of stopping Malleus from doing something drastic just to amuse some random ghosts that missed Halloween, Lilia joins Malleus, and this leads into the disaster that is Endless Halloween Night. He doesn't once think about how this would obviously worry the others, ESPECIALLY Silver (who legitimately got mad at Lilia for this prank)? Lilia is, quite literally, the only adult in the room and the guardian for Malleus while he's at NRC. He should know so much better than to pull off a stunt like this??? You can still have Halloween mischief, but maybe suggest something less extreme??? Or put up more of a fight when Malleus suggests it... Or be more sincere in your apology to the students you kidnapped... Something, ANYTHING.

And, worst of all, Lilia is always apologizing for or to Malleus while simultaneously also telling Malleus HE doesn't need to apologize for literally anything. Lilia tells him he doesn't need to say sorry for physically harming others, he doesn't need to say sorry for not controlling his temper, he doesn't need to say sorry for wasting his peers' time by missing meetings. Come ON, at least teach the guy to better control his emotions if you know how strong he is than allowing him to carrying on concealing?? (This feels like the kind of thing Elsa’s parents would do 💀) Malleus is NEVER held accountable for anything he does, he is constantly being coddled by Lilia as if he is an infant that needs to be shielded from any blame or fault. I think Leona really put it best when he tells Lilia that "[Malleus is] not some lost child. Quit treating him like one."

I think what made me fully realize that Lilia had gone downhill for me was when he was brought back from death by Malleus and Silver's combined love magic. What does Lilia do right after? He apologizes to Malleus. HE apologizes TO Malleus... for not realizing Malleus was lonely sooner?????? E-Excuse me???? 😭 Why is LILIA the one saying sorry when Malleus was the one intentionally hiding his own feelings??? Lilia cannot be expected to be a mind reader???? I get that maybe Lilia feels some responsibility for not accepting that others feel love for him (and therefore he denies Malleus’s affection for him) but the framing of the apology makes it come across as Lilia continuing to baby Malleus by shouldering all the blame for him after everything that happened. In turn, this is actually stunting Malleus and preventing his character from growing. This is so endlessly frustrating for me to watch OTL How's a lizard gonna learn anything if Lilia keeps creating situations in which Malleus is protected from any kind of responsibility, enables some of his prince’s worst possible aspects, and fails to teach him outside of frequent lectures about the importance of unity and understanding??? Obviously those methods aren’t working if Malleus has not changed a bit in his 3 years (which Lilia reports himself) at NRC.

For all that Lilia preaches about having Malleus expand his worldviews, Lilia sure is keeping Malleus pretty boxed in sometimes 😭 And for that... I, unfortunately, no longer enjoy him.

You could run away [ but keep adding hits if he grabs you ] or stay close and take 1 or dodge.

Cater's Zanpakuto is about the relationship between trying to break/dividing something you can't break [the myth of the unbreakable diamond] so the more hits... more chance. The Bankai... will also have to do with that...

Hollow and Overblot are apparently equivalent and born the same way (negative energy), but for some reason- the shinigamis are not naturally immune to these Overblots... as are those with Hollows (?).

The Overblots of the students are more related to the Vizard (Shinigamis that have- generated Hollow powers). So this Au is going to deal with why this happens and who is causing it. Not Aizen.

Just because someone grew up in a loving family doesn’t mean they don’t have trauma/issues that they struggle with.

And just because they don’t have trauma doesn't mean they don’t have their own issues that they deeply struggle with.

One thing I wish was understood a bit better about Twisted Wonderland.

Everyone in this game has trauma or personal struggles and it's NOT a competition of who has it worse. Honestly, sometimes I wish everyone's traumas were discussed more in depth in the game like we get with each person who Overblots, but we don't have time for it. With the Overblot boys, their trauma is shoved directly into the spotlight and we hear exactly how their situations make them feel. But the rest of the cast, ALL of them, have personal struggles and/or trauma. This is just a small list of some of the issues each non Overblot student has.

Ace masks the fear he feels in a lot of situations, and he's got an inferiority complex on some level. Notice how he bullied the player and Grim in our first interaction? That is a sign of someone who is looking to feel better by pushing someone else down because they don't feel good about themselves.

Deuce grew up with a single mother who had to work multiple jobs to make ends meet, which causes him to worry about her, and he was a delinquent in middle school, which made his mom, the one person he worries over, cry. He lives with those regrets, but he's still got those old habits and he agonizes over the fact he's not academically where he'd like to be and his behavior regresses when in heated situations.

Trey has severe trauma at being screamed at for FIVE HOURS over giving Riddle ONE slice of tart, so much that his vitals are severely affected at the thought of Mrs. Rosehearts and he's heavily conflict avoidant.

Cater has had to move all the time and as a defense mechanism, refuses to be honest or get close to people because he doesn't want to get attached only to be ripped away from them.

Ruggie lives in EXTREME poverty when not at school. He struggles to make ends meet and he has to work so hard in a system that is DESIGNED to keep him in poverty, because many beastmen still prefer segregation in the Sunset Savannah.

Jack has one of the healthier mindsets, but he still struggles with being open and honest about his feelings, which makes it hard to have friends, and he struggled with watching Leona, someone he's idolized, fall short of what he believed of Leona.

Jade and Floyd are implied to have grown up in some form of crime family and both seem to have handled the fact their lives could be in constant danger differently. Both like things being interesting, but Jade seems to prefer seclusion and control, while Floyd enjoys scaring people off and having as much fun as he can before he goes.

Kalim is someone who has had multiple assassination attempts on his life, even from his own family. He masks behind a smile, but he's afraid to trust people, and when he DOES TRY to talk about it, it gets brushed off because he has money. Also, he has to deal with the fact Jamil has been undermining his ability to progress by not treating him as if he's capable at all.

Epel has been teased and bullied on how he looked to the point where he started instigating fights to ensure he wouldn't be teased. He also has to fall in line with what Vil wants because he made the error of picking a fight with Vil and getting his butt HANDED to him. To further add, Vil is NOT NICE about it when Epel resists, with one example being Vil grabbing him by the ear and pulling hard as a form of punishment.

Rook has deal with the fact that for being someone who is super perceptive and can notice details, he didn't realize Vil's feelings around Neige, likely because he was blinded by his own admiration for both of them and that's a bitter pill to swallow.

Ortho has to deal with being basically created as a replacement for dead Ortho Shroud, trying to figure out if he's just really a robot made by Idia with really good AI or more than that, and dealing with the fact he loves his brother so much, but his brother doesn't take care of himself and it's disheartening to watch Idia's self-destruction.

Lilia has so much war trauma, losing his loved ones, having been exiled, and so much other crap. Even so, he forced himself to put the war and his trauma about it in the past, where it belonged for the sake of his two sons who both lost so much to war, which is something Baur/Baul could NOT do which was to Sebek's detriment.

Silver has had to live with the idea that his adoptive father would likely outlive him, then is faced with the fact that his father is basically abandoning everything about their life in Briar Valley before he learns that his biological parents were the enemies of the person he serves and cares about, Malleus, and the only father he's ever known.

Sebek has grown up with internalized racism/speciesism against humans thanks to his upbringing and he basically rejects half of his heritage with how he treats his father. He does not even realize how hurtful his comments are until he's faced with those remarks being directed at him by a younger version of his grandfather.

And this isn't everything each student has to face. This is just broad strokes. Yana Toboso wrote a story about flawed people who all have gone through really hard and difficult things because that's the point. As Toboso said in a 2023 interview:

“Happy endings in Disney works come from righteous actions and love, but I believe that the villains are characters who do not get saved during the story. That is why, through this game, I want to portray the message that even if you get beat up all the way to a bad ending, you can grow from it and live your life without feeling discouraged.

Acting lame, obstinate, without hesitation, being open and honest—it’s not as bad as it sounds. 

I would like to paint a positive picture of living honestly with yourself and not worrying about others.

In today’s society there are so many people who live in fear of failure and are always walking on eggshells, but nobody’s flawless. It is exhausting to try to live your life so that no one will hate you.”

Everyone, even people you don't know or do not like, have gone through things that shaped who they are. Sometimes, how we've adapted to handle the bad things that happen will force us to hit rock bottom. But you don't have to die when you hit rock bottom.

You can have terrible things happen to you and have maladaptive strategies to handle your experiences, but you aren't stuck that way forever. You can learn how to change your habits, learn to be okay with yourself, and work at being better than you were the day before.

Human growth is not linear. It's a bunch of taking steps forward and backsliding and learning and making mistakes over and over again and accepting failure, not as a testament to your character, but as part of the process of growth... and that's something all the students have to learn, not just the Overblot boys. Because all of them, every single one, are handling their own personal issues, even if it isn't shoved right in our faces.

I actually adore how twst represents different families that aren't just "loving mother and father and their biological children"

Azul's mother divorced and remarried. Azul clearly loves and respects his stepdad, as opposed to the "They're abusive" or "You're not my real dad" trope that is often used. Azul isn't ashamed of the fact that his mom got a divorce, nor is it framed as something shameful. He doesn't focus on or lament about his "real" father because his stepdad is his real father, and he loves him.

Deuce's mother is a single mom. There's no "Oh, I wish I knew my father." Or "I need to find my dad, and I'll be complete." Or "Woah, Deuce, you only have a mom. Where's your dad?" and, even better, Deuce's delinquent years were not blamed on not having a father. Deuce's is mom Dilla (? I've seen so many different spellings] Spade, and he loves her so much and is willing to do anything he can to make her happy and make up for his past actions. Who his dad is or might be doesn't matter.

Like Deuce, Vil has a single parent, his dad! Single fathers aren't often represented, and even less so in a healthy way. Vil clearly loves and respects his father, and has made it quite clear he doesn't know who his mother is and doesn't care to know. Obsessing over who is mother is and trying to find her, like a lot of media makes characters do, won't "make him whole" or "make him understand himself" because Vil knows who is he is and a parent who's never been there anyways isn't something that will change him in some grand way.

Ruggie is raised by his grandmother! Book 7 aside, we have little mention of his parents, and it's not something constantly brought up or pitied. Book 7 itself still works, as Ruggie has accepted his mother's death, but still wishes his father would return. However, his grandmother is not framed as a "lesser" parent. Grandma Bucchi is someone Ruggie loves very much and is the person who raised and cared for him.

Silver is, as we all know, Lilia's adopted son. We do get to meet his biological father in book 7, but it isn't framed as a "Silver's TRUE REAL father" reveal, nor does Silver reject Lilia as his father just because they aren't blood related. Lilia is Silver's father, and there's no doubt about it.

Riddle's parents are married, but it's been made quite clear that they do not have a happy marriage. This isn't portrayed as "See one parent beats the other" as is often the go-to, it's more subtle and is a quietly festering problem that Riddle has noticed.

So yeah. Thanks twst for giving us parents or parental figures that are actually diverse and reflect the real world. I do wish we got queer parents, though unfortunately this is a Disney game so T.T

Twisted Wonderland - Blessings and Curses 

In Twst, it’s said repeatedly that blessings and curses are virtually the same thing, but are differentiated only by how they either positively or negatively affect the person who is spelled. 

This is interesting because of this, in some cases, spells meant to be blessings turn into curses, which a number of characters suffer from. Some curses can also be a blessing. 

There are now at least four characters who are canonically cursed in some form, with some being more explicitly stated as cursed, others implied, and some we don’t even know what’s truly going on, so I’ll be going over everything that we do know because this magic system is mysterious and I want to know more. 

Idia Shroud, the late original Ortho Shroud, STYX’s director (Idia’s father) and the late Aidne Shroud (Idia’s grandmother) have all been generationally cursed for hundreds of years since their ancestor was punished for trying to revolt against their rivals, the Jupiter Family. 

Their curse manifests itself as firey blue hair and the ability to incinerate blot at such a speed that overblot is impossible. 

The inability to overblot can be interpreted as a blessing, but if the Shrouds don’t produce blot/live in close proximity to blot, the curse will attack their magic force and destroy it, possibly harming their lives as well. 

Because of this, the curse makes the Shrouds uniquely qualified for blot research and protecting the rest of the world from the massive phantoms created by hundreds of overblotters across history. 

This curse prevents Idia from living a normal life and, as Idia has done research on himself and the family, concluded that it is the curse is unbreakable (as most curses appear to be) 

Idia also confirms that Grim is cursed, except Grim’s curse seems to be so old and complex that he can’t decipher what it is. Grim does have blot resistance, and its theorized that he’s a direbeast fused with some other kind of animal and possesses almost human-like intelligence. 

Idia is able to conclude that someone casted an ancient spell on Grim, but the person who did it and the purpose of the spell is unknown. 

This, paired with Grim’s insatiable desire to eat blot stones produced by overblotters, hasn’t been touched upon by the plot again as of right now, but the chimera creature that resembles Grim from the prologue is an indicator that we will find out what this curse is at some point. 

Next is Silver’s curse, which is different from everyone else because it was intended to be a blessing from the very start. 

And it was a blessing for around 400 years…Until he woke up and started experiencing negative effects from the spell, which made it a curse. 

This is more on the theorizing side since Silver’s sleeping problem is brought up only once in Book 7 and not touched on again. By the end of Book 7, his sleeping issue still isn’t talked about. Given the new guest room and chat voice lines that just dropped on JPN server, it’s implied that Silver is still struggling with his uncontrollable sleeping habit and he is not cured of his curse. 

But again, we won’t know if that’s actually the case until the story continues. 

People rightfully speculate that the reason behind his sleeping issue comes from his original blessing, which was to sleep until found by someone who loves him. He was in ageless sleep until he was found by Lilia, and then he started to age like a normal child but fell asleep suddenly with no explanation. 

It’s stated multiple times in vignettes and once in main story that Silver has been taken to doctors for his sleeping issue and no one was able to find anything, implying that curses are virtually undetectable outside of the STYX technology Idia has access to. 

The blessing met its criteria and him being awake proves that it has been broken, but the reason why he’s experiencing negative effects from something that saved his life is unknown and hopefully it’ll be explained later on. Lilia also theorizes that the spell may have fallen apart due to how unpredictably long he spent under it, but that was probably just him assuming he didn't meet the spell's criteria.

Given what we know, I theorize that, in some cases, excessive amounts of exposure to powerful magic can be harmful to people, especially humans who were spelled at such a young age. 

This is how a blessing can change into a curse, it’s now a part of him whether he wants it there or not. 

Maybe his body is just used to being asleep, he was like that for 400 years and has only been awake for 18 years. Maybe there’s something else at play, we don’t know. 

We have enough evidence to assume that he’s part of the cursed club (also he’s twisted from Aurora who is very famously cursed lol) 

But he’s in the same place as Grim where you know it’s there but you’re not entirely sure why. 

Lastly, Malleus has joined the cursed club as of the end of Book 7.

The Senate “blessed” him, and their intention truly was blessing. However, the effects of the blessings have become more of a curse to Malleus. 

Malleus himself even interprets himself as cursed. 

He was blessed to be so powerful that no one could do him any harm, however, because of his power he was harming everyone around him, including his loved ones, which is something that kept Malleus isolated and repressed.

Because the curse hindered his ability to express emotion, he was robbed of what he actually wanted, which was the ability to be happy, sad, and being able to hug someone without the fear of hurting them. 

Malleus is the best example of blessings and curses being virtually the same thing. What was a blessing in the eyes of the senate was a curse in Malleus’s perspective. 

Because of what happened, Malleus’s curse isn’t ‘broken’ per se, but he can no longer physically perform the kind of magic he was able to perform when both his horns were intact. 

I don’t know if there’s anything Idia, Grim and Silver can do to break the effects of their curses but we’ll have to see as the story goes on.

IN CONCLUSION, having consequences to powerful spells and an open interpretation of how magic can both save and harm someone simultaneously is a really interesting aspect of Twisted Wonderland that I hope gets expanded upon in the future.

Signature Spell: Go With the Flow

-Basically an anti gravity spell that allows him or whoever he touches to move through the air the same way he does under water

-The tiniest gust of wind can make him float away

-If he uses it right before he gets knocked out by a spell he just flies away like a balloon with only minimal damages

-While he can stir himself through the air, the people that get affected by his spell generally can't. Only some merfolk manage to adjust and swim through the air

-It also works on objects. His own room is constantly under the spell while he's inside so he can emulate his own home

No heart, no brain, only vibes.

Noah is not the brightest and he knows it. His motto is to just "go with the flow". Whatever is funniest gets his attention, but he never goes out of his way to actually catch it. He just ~vibes~. Whatever happens happens. Good stuff? Great, let's have some fun! Bad stuff? Oh well, let's just wait for it to pass.

Nothing has weight for him. While it means he doesn't get hurt much in life because he just doesn't care, it can be a huge drag for the people around him.

Random facts:

-Noah is based on the Sea Nettle jellyfish. While his sting isn't necessarily deadly, he certainly can hurt others.

-He is only 1.56 meters tall.

-He is genuinely blind but he manages to get around by sensing light and magic. He still regularly sticks to someone and "goes with the flow" of the crowd.

-While very confused about getting sorted into Ignihyde, he immediately got into it because of the lights. He's surprisingly efficient at technomancy and uses speech-to-text to write his homeworks.

-He's pretty sensitive to waves so his dormmates often come to him when they are in search of the best spot to receive Wi-Fi.

-Noah always moves his arms around. His head too, to make his hair flow, which is a problem since his hair have the same toxic properties as his tentacles.

-His stamina is terrible and he has no strength whatsoever.

-He bargained with Sam to get a skirt because pants are too restrictive for him. He doesn't like his Dorm Uniform at all.

-He loses stuff. A LOT!

-His best subject is Flight.

-He's part of the Pop Music club but he has completely forgotten about it. He plays wind instruments, mostly ocarina or pan flute, but he also loves instruments that are bigger than he is.

Backstory: Tell me anything about your twst OC's backstory. Their childhood, their parents, their siblings etc. Does their backstory affect how they are as a character now and how they interact with the cast?

Cecil comes from a family of mages/witches, so that’s cool. His dad is a Royal Sword Academy alumni, so that’s something. He has an older twin sister, her name is Claudia.

She’s meticulous and always holds her head high when it comes to her magical ability and her appearance (💖). Outside of NRC, especially in their home village, they’re often viewed as a pair and compared to one another. (…Mainly Cecil getting compared to her.)

They have a magical rivalry since both of their magic manifested as children around the same time. Though, that’s probably when things started to go south in terms of their once more friendly relationship.

Claudia technically got her magic first, but Cecil has much larger reserves and a really natural instinct for it.

Unfortunately for Cecil, this caused a lot of problems early on with a perceived lack of control and a pattern of disasters if he got overwhelmed. Claudia was usually at the receiving end of those disasters, so much like the adults in their village, she doesn’t trust him with magic at all.

Repeated fumbling just made Cecil seem like a hazard who can only do wrong, while his sister was doing everything correctly and seemed more reliable. Her doing well just made his mistakes look worse by comparison. Even if they were really small.

So it became a case of Cecil’s self-confidence taking a major blow, meanwhile Claudia kind of got propped up as somebody he should be striving to emulate.

Over time, it was less that he didn’t have control, but lack of faith from anyone else during his formative years didn’t really help. And since magic is strongly imagination based, that can manifest as shoddy spell-casting unintentionally, even if he knows what he’s doing now.

Claudia is most certainly envious of Cecil’s lifelong affinity with magic, so she compensated by becoming an expert on all things surrounding it like, poisons, potions, curses, practical spell casting, conjuring. etc. and all of the correct most efficient ways to do so.

Though, ultimately it doesn’t matter how meticulous she is because her reserves are just too low for any arcane academy to care. She is not impressive enough to be accepted into any such school, but the bumbling Cecil was.

Her Signature Spell is just changing a persons hair/hair color. (Not that she’d let anyone know… not even her brother.)

There’s less celebration that Cecil got into the prestigious Night Raven College, so much as how unfair it that the seemingly perfect Claudia can’t get into any arcane academy at all. Dad doesn’t really care for NRC anyway so that doesn’t help.

They’re kind of both jealous of each other in some capacity, but neither have communicated this so they’re currently just strained. They can have good days, but otherwise they don’t really talk unless Cecil comes home. …And when he does, expect yapping about all of Claudia’s accomplishments while he was away.

Fun.

SO! How does all this manifest in how Cecil interacts with the cast?

It most emerges as deadpan snark and himself getting jealous about his peers’ magical prowess or their support systems. He just feels this insatiable need to prove how competent he is. …To mixed results.

Maybe he needs to become some hero who saves people or something? Or some kind of authority that gets respect no matter what?? He doesn’t really know.

So here’s Cecil having an all that baggage and just outside of his orbit is freaking Diasomnia fam.

It can get somebody a little… resentful.

He probably wouldn’t have gone to NRC at all if not for his need to prove himself. That, and maybe one teensy tiny push from a precocious neighbor.

But, who can really say?

You hover around your pampered wittle boss for a couple hours a day in exchange for the elusive office wifi. Rollo insists magicam is rotting your brain. You just respond by his spamming his ancient phone with couple’s challenges, despite being immediately rejected on a daily basis. The student body says you’re “odd” on the best of days, but your office crush hasn’t kicked you out yet- so you must be doing something right! Right?

i feel like if ace's UM does end up just allowing him to copy other's UM, it would solve a potential problem which is malleus putting everyone into a state of sleep. like they told us that it would only be lifted if malleus either lifts it up on his own or if he dies and idt twst would kill off a major and VERY popular character. but if they give ace that ability as his UM it would solve that in a way?

but if they do give that to ace as his UM i hope that ace would struggle to copy people's abilities, or at least kinda go through the emotions the original spell caster felt when theyre using their UM or when they first awoken it. maybe like a price to pay to use other's abilities but thats just me HAHAHHA

Yeeeah, that's what I was thinking too. I can't imagine Ace's UM being anything but a UM borrowing/mimicry spell right now (due to his own propensity to easily learn new skills and do vocal impressions)... It would also just be really useful for the end of book 7, since the briar barrier can only be taken down with Malleus's death or with Malleus willingly removing his magic. Given Malleus's stubbornness and being in such an emotional state, I really doubt he'd be able to come to his senses even all these hundreds of parts later. I really doubt whether all of our powers combined can take him down either, given his track record of being so stupidly OP. And it for sure wouldn't be a good move on the Twst devs' part to kill off such a money maker and significant part of their marketing for their series. (I do want to point out, however, that Malleus's insane popularity is exclusive to the international/English-speaking part of the fandom; he is not a top contender in JP and I would say has more of a middling status.) Having someone else reproduce his UM could very easily resolve this issue, but I guess that's also highly dependent on if Ace can get a grip on his UM that fast, or if he can even feasibly iron out the kinks of controlling what is probably a very complex spell. Epel, who got his UM most recently in book 6, still seems to have only a 70-80% success rate with his, so it's possible that Ace doesn't fully master his UM even if he gets it as soon as his own dream. I definitely don't think Ace would be able to use his (theoretical) copying UM to its full extent ASAP, as then we could just cut the dreams short right then and there. I feel like it'd become more relevant during the actual OB Malleus showdown or something. In general, there'd have to be come kind of drawback or limitations to his UM even if he got used to casting it at some point (just for power balancing reasons). Maybe there's a cooldown period, or he can only use the UM as much as his imagination will allow, or maybe it requires that he be able to empathize with the feelings of the original mage.

... Oh, you know what??? That might actually tie book 7 up quite nicely! If Ace's UM allows him to copy the UMs of other mages but only with the stipulation that he must empathize or relate to how they were acting when the original mage used their UM... Wouldn't that mean that Ace has to understand Malleus's loneliness and the fear of being left behind by his loved ones??? ACE CAN ACTUALLY PERFECTLY RELATE TO THAT because he was in denial mode that Yuu would be going home earlier in book 7. On top of that, he's probably also harboring shame for making fun of Deuce so much, only to be the one who doesn't have his UM yet. Ace can totally relate to what Malleus is going through 👀 He'd be forced to confront his denial of his own emotional vulnerability because he sees Malleus displaying the very same behaviors.

Maybe Ace gets his UM early on but has no idea how to use it properly until it comes in clutch in the final battle because he realizes (at last) how Malleus is feeling. Then it’s Ace who becomes the trump card that lets us triumph…! And that brings us full-circle—the final boss being beaten by the first student that we met, our first friend… Ace Trappola 🫶

Can I please request a reader that has been so traumatised by what’s happened in the Scarabia book that they actively avoid the entire dorm and have Ace and Deuce as their guard dogs (I love those two and I really love how you wrote them as the readers protective besties during the Malleus break up fic). Like how would Kalim, Jamil and Adeuce react to that?

I find it really cathartic when I read fics that have the characters feeling guilty after what they put the reader through whilst the reader is getting support from their friends.

(Something I’m really salty about in twst is how no one ever holds the overblots accountable for what they’ve done. I full on agreed with Ace when he told Riddle that crying wasn’t going to erase all that he did before the overblot and I literally fell in love with him when he punched Riddle after he insulted us/Yuu/the player. I understand that those boys are traumatised and are in desperate need of therapy and overblotting was the only way for their problems to be solved but the treatment they inflicted on Yuu/us was downright hellish. Azul made us homeless and tore us away from the only family/comfort we had in twst (the ghosts) and then sent the tweels to terrorise us in our attempts to reclaim said home and free our friends from servitude; Jamil kidnapped us, hypnotised us, locked us up in a room against our will, isolated us from Adeuce and took away any contact we had with them, forced us on long marches in the dessert and turned a blind eye to our clear suffering during that time; Vil acted like a literal demon to not only us (and then almost made my Deucey cry) but everyone else as well and that was before he decided to try to murder an innocent teenager. Like why does no one understand just how much this can damage an actual child who has no magic and has been stripped from their home and family?)

🍓I love requests like this tbh. My own OC sorta has her own grapplings with this stuff that I like to touch upon, and I’m excited I get the chance to talk about it here :) THIS IS LONG AS HELL BTW(like this intro here lol). I had a lot of fun writing it :))) I added a cute, shorter little grim part, because our little guy deserves more lovin’ than he gets. I also decided to do a cute little (read: long) intro, and then head cannons since you didn’t specify for either. I hope you enjoy this style, and I’m sorry for the wait <3

You had been through… a lot in your time at Night Raven College. Being thrown into a completely different world would’ve been enough, but it seems that the great seven thought you needed some extra troubles. You weren’t sure how you could’ve encored their wrath, but you were, and you were chugging along despite it all.

First was the attack from the phantom in the mines — something that should’ve been foreshadowing for what was to come. You didn’t even do anything to be in this position. It was Ace Grim and Deuce, but you got dragged into it all because you were “Grim’s keeper.” You managed to befriend Ace and Deuce though, so it wasn’t so bad.

Second was Riddle with his unending temper and strict rules. Despite everything telling you to just stay out of it, your good-natured heart just couldn’t stop you from helping Ace and Deuce. Nearly dying in the process, you managed to help Riddle and made newfound friends in Heartslabyul. 

Third came Leona, the selfish, stuck-up, lazy no-good prince of the Savannah. You knew he was trouble from the start, and you wanted nothing to do with him or his little lackey Ruggie. Then he hurt Trey, and you couldn’t stand by while he reigned terror on the school. He was a favorable ally to gain in the end, so you could dismiss his actions so long as he kept in his lane.

Fourth was Azul, another student you figured would cause you trouble. With the extra scary Jade and Floyd always tailing him, and that too buttery sweet voice of his, you were determined to keep your distance. Again, however, your friends were in trouble and you couldn’t help but help them. Azul was a broken person, and you could sympathize with his struggles. He even gave you a job at the lounge to help with funding yourself, so he couldn’t be all that bad.

You’d come to dislike the other house wardens out of principle. A pattern had emerged among them, and you weren’t going to fall victim to another horrific overblot. You still had suction cup-shaped bruises on your arm from Azul’s breakdown. Leona had given you more than just a nasty burn from the scalding hot whirlwind of sand he conjured up. The scars Riddle left behind on your face and arms were healed, but they still ached when you touched them. All painful reminders that you could not truly trust anyone here, that anyone could lose control of themselves and hurt you. Yet…

When you met Jamil in the kitchen, he seemed so kind to both you and Grim. He seemed so genuine and honest. Maybe it was wishful thinking, or maybe it was you missing your friends, but you wanted to trust him despite your gut feeling to be distrustful. Could everyone here really be that bad? Certainly not. Ace Deuce and Jack went here as well… so surely… surely…

The alarm bells didn’t ring at all during the dinner, and Kalim — despite everything you’ve been through — seemed so nice, if not a little overbearing. You could see the tiredness on Jamil's face, and you had the kindness in your heart to express your sympathies. And oh, Jamil so humbly assured you that he was fine. Filling your head with little half-truths and ideas that Kalim had been overworking not only him but the other students. That he had been acting “off” as of late.

You saw Kalim’s sudden shifts in personality. How he would be so sweet, so kind and soft. How he made sure you were enjoying yourself, made sure you ate to your heart's content, made sure you were comfortable in your uniform and your sleeping quarters. Then he would be yelling at everyone, demanding unspeakable exercises and work.

If Ace were there with you, he would’ve called bullshit. Still, you trusted Jamil to start. You actually believed he was kind and had good intentions. You believed that Kalim was the real evil here.

Then he wouldn’t let you and Grim leave, and the students were suddenly so aggressive toward you. He took everything you had and stripped you of your dignity and pride until there was nothing left but fight.

Truly, you didn’t realize it was him that was the issue until he was over-blotting in front of your eyes. It wasn’t an unusual sight to you at that point, you’d defeated multiple overblots and befriended these people. You don’t know what it was. The way you’d trusted him. The fact that you felt truly alone without Ace and Deuce. This one broke you…

You just didn’t feel a damn thing after he was saved. You felt no pity, no joy, no relief. Absolutely nothing, an empty void in your chest. Even as everyone around you celebrated, there was nothing. You stood watching everyone parade around with glee blankly, unable to speak to anyone around you. Just listening to the voices that had begun to mesh together.

You didn’t show anything until Ace and Deuce showed up. Something about their faces, the way they were looking over you, the way they seemed so scared for your wellbeing… it made you cry. It made you cry and cry and cry until you couldn’t make any noise and then you cried some more. They had to drag you away from everyone because you just couldn’t quite stand upright when Deuce would try to get you to walk away with him…

The days after were blurry. You remained holed up in your dorm, unable to really move from your bed. Ace and Deuce stayed in their own separate room next to yours. You could hear them talking through the walls about how worried they were about you, how angry they were at Jamil, how angry they were at themselves for not getting there in time to help you. If you’d had the energy, you would’ve scolded them for being so hard on themselves, but you could hardly speak in the first place.

They cared for you as best as they could. Deuce attempted to cook the recipes Trey sent him over magicam, making sure you ate and stayed hydrated. Occasionally you’d hear Azul downstairs, and Deuce would give you something nice from the Monstrolounge — free of charge, he promised. You could tell that he wasn’t sleeping much in his worry over you. 

Grim remained at your side as loyal as a dog and boasting that he’d keep you safe, but you knew he was scared too. He proclaimed that he would keep you safe, but you could feel him trembling at every sudden noise. You had to comfort him from the horrific nightmares he was having. That was okay, though, he was family and you were his.

Ace was the only one who really kicked your ass into gear. He’d tug you out of bed and into the shower as people began to return from winter break. Made you go on walks around campus to show you that you were completely safe. Eventually, he’d been able to get you to visit Azul to thank him directly for his kindness. He wasn’t soft or gentle with you, that wasn’t in his character at all, but he made sure you felt safe enough to return to classes before they started.

They both worked hard to help you recover, but you were still so afraid…

Ace

-Ace isn’t exactly the most comforting person, and he never claimed to be. 

-He’s not good at reassuring people, but he’s good at being honest, and if he was being honest he knew that you were safe around him and Deuce.

-He walks you to and from classes, spends most of his nights in your dorm doing whatever the hell you’d like him to do without complaint, distracts you when you’re freaking out, and most importantly keeps that snake as far away from you as possible.

-If he was being honest with himself, which was his whole thing, he didn’t really get your reaction to everything. 

-You’ve all been through this before, it's textbook at this point. A guy does some shady shit, a guy gets caught doing said shady shit, a guy overblots, and you defeat a guy with the power of friendship. Boom. Done.

-He’d get it more if you were completely alone, but grim and the octanivelle freaks were there! Kalim too, and he’s always seemed pretty nice. Not the best company, sure, but still you had people helping you out.

-When he looks at your face and sees how tired you are, he forgets the logical stuff. All he can hear are those horrific sobs you let out when you saw him and how you nearly ripped his uniform in half with how tightly you were holding him and Deuce.

-If that was too much for him, he can’t imagine how badly it must’ve felt for you. How bad it must still feel.

-So screw what he thinks, he’s gotta make sure you’re taking care of yourself.

-He doesn’t ask you how you’re feeling, he knows it's not good. He focuses on keeping your mind off of everything that might trigger you.

-Reroutes your paths to classes to avoid Jamil and Kalim completely. Sure it’s longer and more annoying, but it's better than you going dead silent and shutting him and everyone else out again.

-He does everything in his power and you’re doing so well… and then the VDC happens. 

-You’re given the title of manager and you’re forced to be around these people who terrify you. 

-Vil won’t budge on anything and sevens Ace wishes Rook would let him try out a little target practice with the (illegal) bow and arrows he’s got in his room.

-He keeps himself between you and Jamil at all costs. He won’t let Jamil bother you at all, not that he was trying in the first place.

-The real issue is Kalim, which sounds crazy, but it’s true.

-Kalim is so… forceful. A pretty strong word, but honestly the only one Ace can think to use.

-He’s really nice, really sweet, seriously such a good guy… but you’re still unsettled by him.

-There are several times during practices that Ace has to yell at him to just leave you alone.

-Sure, it gets him a pretty big scolding from Vil, but he couldn’t care less honestly. He doesn’t wanna risk you having a panic attack because Vil doesn’t wanna be a responsible leader.

-You confide in Ace a lot. How you really want to move past all this, but Crowley won’t provide you with any form of therapy, and you’re just not ready to forgive Jamil or Kalim for what happened.

-He won’t tell you this, but hearing you talk like this breaks his heart.

-You’re normally so strong, so brave, so confident… and now you’re absolutely broken.

-He’s proud of you for putting on a brave face to placate Vil, but he’s angry you have to.

-Surprisingly, though, you do begin to warm up to Kalim. Just a little. 

-It's only when Ace, Deuce, or Grim is around, but it's a really big step forward in his eyes.

-You’re getting back to where you used to be little by little.

-He still won’t give you or Jamil the chance to reconcile, but you honestly couldn’t be more grateful for that.

Deuce

-Deuce is incredibly different from Ace in how he handles everything.

-He’s a delinquent, sure, but he’s a Mama’s boy at heart. Therefore, he’s much more equipped to help you emotionally through all this than Ace.

-Where Ace is the harsh pushing force to keep you going, Deuce is the calm where you can rest and cry your heart out for as long as you need.

-As I mentioned, he makes sure you’re eating and drinking and at least speaking to someone.

-He asks Trey for recipes without leading on to what’s going on and asks Cater for advice on helping someone feel safe after a traumatic experience.

-It’s not subtle, but it helps.

-He handles making all your meals, even though he isn’t the best cook, he absolutely puts all his heart and soul into everything he makes.

-A good portion of his days are dedicated to cooking for you, and he gets pretty damn good at it by the time classes start up again!

-With Sam’s shop closed, he has to go into town to get the ingredients he needs, and then he has to spend hours preparing and serving the food.

-He watches you eat, encouraging you that everything is safe and that he made it all by himself by hand. 

-He doesn’t question why things ended up this way for you, he wonders how can I help?

-And he does help, a lot, more than just with food.

-Sometimes, late at night, he hears you crying alone in your room. He gets up from his own bed, quietly enters your room, and holds you and grim while you both tremble in fear.

-It makes him so mad. Mad that this happened to you. Mad that Jamil did this in the first place. Mad that he couldn’t help more than he already is. 

-Like Ace, he accompanies you to all your classes and makes sure to stay close to your side if any Scarabia students are around.

-He’ll go anywhere you need him to, and if you’re not comfortable being alone and he’s got plans, you’re invited to join him. No matter what anyone else thinks.

-Things get better little by little. You make strides in your ability to be independent again and you’re smiling and joking around like you used to. You even agreed to try out for the VDC with him and Ace… a big mistake.

-He didn’t expect to actually get in, let alone get in with Jamil and Kalim. If it were just that he could’ve been civil, but no, you had to be dragged in too… because that’s always how it works out.

-He has to hold himself from getting in Jamil’s face more than once because just him looking at you is enough to send you into a clear panic attack.

-Deuce does his best to comfort you between all of this, though. Being your shoulder to cry on and trying his best to be your protector… it's just hard. Hard to see you like that, and hard to keep his cool for your sake.

-It's worse with Kalim because both you and Deuce know he means well. You both know he wants to reconcile, but you’re not quite ready.

-Deuce helps the confrontation with the two feel a bit easier though. He acts as a mediator between you and Kalim, and eventually, he’s proud to say he helped you trust Kalim just a little bit.

-Jamil… both of you could use some work, but Deuce is more willing to hear you out on him than Ace is.

Grim

-Grim was there with you the whole time. He understands the fear you’re feeling deeper than anyone else.

-He could just tell something was wrong the second he saw your face. Despite all the celebrations, he was focused on making sure you were at least a little okay.

-He tried to talk to you, tried to make you feel okay, but the only comfort he could offer you was letting you hold him while you cried.

-He could still hear your cries, and they made him want to cry too. He almost did, but he was your guard cat — he had to be strong for you.

-Unlike Ace and Deuce, he never left your side. Not a second. He was there with you from the moment you were unwittingly kidnapped to the sleepless nights in your dorm to the horror of finding out you’d have to work closely with Jamil for the VDC.

-He made his distaste for him very known, sure to make a snarky comment at least once every time he saw him. 

-It was so bad, at one point, that Vil had to give him a stern talking to. He didn’t stop regardless.

-You are Grim’s best friend, the only family he has, and Jamil hurt you in unspeakable ways. He couldn’t just sit back and be okay with that.

-He’s really such a good guy.

Kalim

-Kalim means well. With his whole heart, he has the best intentions… just not the best execution.

-See, he didn’t notice initially that anything was really wrong the whole time.

-He didn’t suspect Jamil at all. In fact, he thought that you were really enjoying your stay in Scarabia, you seemed so happy and chatty up until Jamil flipped things on their head.

-Call him air-headed, but he was caught up in his own whirlwind of emotions at the time. You know, the whole betrayal of his supposed best friend took a toll on him too.

-It wasn’t until you were sobbing your throat raw that he realized something was really wrong.

-The look of sheer terror on your face when you made eye contact with him sent shivers up his spine.

-He knew that look. He’d worn that look on his own face too many times as a young child.

-Believe it or not, without Jamil’s intervention, he knew to keep his distance. He knew he had to give you time to adjust.

-Then a few days turned into weeks and weeks turned into a little over a month, and he had hardly seen you around campus.

-You are avoiding your normal route to class, and when he did see you he was also greeted by the harsh glares of your good friends.

-He understood if you’d never want to talk to him ever again, honestly. He couldn’t blame you. You were more headstrong than him, after all.

-Still, when the VDC came around… he was hopeful. Truly he was hoping that something would give.

-He would talk to you in hopes of showing you that he meant no harm, but Ace or Deuce or even Grim would shove their way between the two of you.

-Several times Jamil had to tell him to knock it off because “It’s not worth forcing.”

-Still, he wanted you to know he felt bad. He felt horrible.

-In a very un-Kalim-like move, he quietly asks you if you can speak with him. Alone. But in a crowded enough area that you wouldn’t feel threatened.

-He didn’t expect you to accept it, he wouldn’t have blamed you at all. But you said yes. 

-You showed up, with Grim by your side, which was fine. He earned some apologies too.

-He poured his heart out to you, apologizing for things that he couldn’t even control. In turn, he listened to you rant about how scared you were, how angry you were, how you wished you were any of these things.

-And after that, things improved. Slowly, but surely. You became more comfortable around him, and you spoke to him again.

-Sure, you wouldn’t be caught dead at one of Scarabia’s parties, but you considered him a friend. 

-That’s all he could ask for.

Jamil

-Jamil is the monster in your story. 

-He’s the evil guy who kidnapped, manipulated and lied to you.

-He’s the one who used his misplaced anger as an excuse to hurt others.

-He’s the boogyman who made you endure days of long and hard training, just because he could.

-Of course, he felt bad. What he did was unspeakable, but he was more concerned with how his reputation would last after the overblot.

-More concerned with it not getting out for the safety of his family.

-Even with you sobbing, he just thought you were being dramatic in all honesty. You have a reputation already, he knew you’d been through this whole thing before.

-It didn’t really strike him how badly it affected you.

-He didn’t notice how you switched paths, how you were never in the same area as him for long, and the glares of your friends never once phased him.

-Even Ace’s snarky comments during basketball didn’t bother him for a second.

It wasn’t until he accidentally bumped into you in the hallway, and he saw the look on your face that he realized.

-The terror in your eyes, the way you shrunk back as if he would strike you. It was the same way his parents acted around the Asim’s.

-If he were a more insane man, he might’ve found it liberating, but it wasn’t.

-He had become what he hated to you, he had done what he hated to you. 

-Jamil was not only your monster, but he was his own.

-He steers clear of you and keeps as much distance as possible for both your sakes.

-He couldn’t handle someone looking at him like that, and he was sure you couldn’t handle the sight of him after what he did.

-Still, this is NRC, and luck is never on anyone's side here.

-Both of you are forced into a position where you cannot escape the other, you have to learn to live with the awful pits in your stomachs.

-He keeps Kalim away until you both are on good terms, then he simply watches quietly.

-He won’t apologize, he won’t antagonize, he won’t speak unless spoken to.

-You two never truly recover your small lasting friendship, but you do make amends with each other.

-During the trip to the scalding sands, you get to meet Najma, whom he’s confided in about ‘accidentally upsetting a classmate’.

-You get to have a good talk with her, and it makes you really realize some things about Jamil.

-You realize he’s just as broken as you, just as tired as you, and that he feels the most immense amount of guilt for hurting you.

-You, being you, find it in your soul to forgive him.

-Nothing really changes between you. The guilt is still there, and the fear still shakes you to your core, but you both have closure.

-In a situation like this, closure is the best grace a person can ever have.

I don't think I'm going to cover the climax of the story. I think it's best consumed actually reading through the entirety of it, so just snippets would sour the experience.

But overall I think it was amazing fun, if a bit low stakes compared to, say, Glorious Masquerade. Skully was a really compelling character and has the sort of goosebumps that makes you really uncomfortable due to how adjacent with reality his sociopathy is. But he wasn't nearly as much of a threat as Rollo was, who actually made a move to turn everyone into magicless beings and therefore obliterate the entirety of the Fae race in conjunction. Skully is an actual child, after all, and acted like one to the end.

I think the main highlight of this event was the lesson it wanted to teach about parasocialism. It's an actual issue that's so rampant nowadays. I believe twst tackled it brilliantly, with how the main victims are teenagers (Skully and Sebek) who you can't really blame for feeling this way about their idols. They're children who desperately want someone as a role model to grow up into. I love how they presented two boys who suffer through the same problem, but tackle it in completely different ways-- with Skully as the destructive kind, and Sebek as the healthy one.

I hope more kids would read this event so they could get started with accepting that this problem is real and that they should not be ashamed of it, and be guided on how to navigate their feelings about it in a healthy way. 😊

How do you think the characters react to mc having their period in the monster au. Cause it would make sense for other monster species to have them as well, but it could end up being a "human" thing to them. Like how would the love interests and the staff react. I imagine Malleus panicking the moment he smells blood on his human.

It was officially your eighth day in Twisted Wonderland and it was finally time for Diasomnia to take a step back and allow the other dorms to guard you. According to the raffle, it was to be Ignihyde's turn next. Both Idia and Ortho had shown up to the early morning meeting, Ortho still somewhat asleep as he sat leaning up against Idia's arm.

The other Housewardens were present and they had even remembered to invite Malleus this time as there was no other way the Dragon would give up his Human. Both Shinigami were anxious for different yet similar reasons as they waited for the inevitable arrival of the Dragon. Only problem was that Malleus showed up without the Human.

"What is the meaning of this, Malleus? Where is she?"

Vil was first to voice his concerns, one of the few among the Housewardens who would willingly snap at the dour prince. Malleus simply stared at the Harpy even as he squawked and fluffed his feathers in irritation. Of course, they all wanted to hear whatever explanation the Dragon was going to give for this clear violation of the rules they had set regarding soft (Y/n).

"I don't recall ever agreeing to this nonsense of trading my hoard among others, but if you must know, (Y/n) is currently unwell and I have no intention to leave any member of my hoard while they are in such a state."

"Unwell? How is she unwell? She was fine yesterday, if a bit temperamental."

Crowley was displeased by Malleus' refusal to bring the Human they all felt increasing fondness for, but he was more displeased to hear she was ill in some way. In fact, the news unsettled everyone at the table, Idia and Ortho included. They were all keen to keep (Y/n) in high spirits especially with news that there would be several representatives from various countries making surprise visits to check on her well-being.

"She is bleeding but insists it is normal for Humans. The scent of blood alerted me to her state as she rose before the rest of us and I found her in her bathroom crying. She refuses to leave her bathroom until she is able to aquire 'pads' to catch the blood and commented something about 'tampons'. I know not what these 'pads' and 'tampons' are, but even Lilia insists it is something Humans do on a monthly basis and warned me to not push her on this matter."

"If that Mousey is bleeding," Leona growled, "then she must be injured in some way."

"That was my thinking, but Lilia said I was wrong and that he would explain it later before he insisted I attend this meeting instead."

"What exactly has Lilia told you about (Y/n)'s condition?"

"I hate everything and everyone."

You grumbled as you lay curled up on a towel in your bathtub, holding your bloated stomach as you whined loudly when another cramp gripped you. The dull throbbing ache in your back made you want to throw something if it meant the discomfort would end. Your arm had healed quickly- still somewhat mending, but now useable- only for your period to smack you while you were down.

Of course these useless monsters didn't have pads or tampons or Midol and now you relegated yourself to laying on a towel so you don't bleed all over the shared nest. If you could have things your way, you would have as many sanitary products as you wished and you would be laying on Silver's back as the Reindeer was so comfortingly warm. It only made you angrier to remember that there were no heating-pads in this forsaken land.

"(Y/n)?"

"Let me die."

"Please don't talk that way, (Y/n). None of us want you to die."

"Then why aren't there any heating-pads or pain-meds, Lilia? Sounds like you all want me to suffer and die."

"(Y/n)-"

"Leave me to suffer."

"(Y/n)-"

"Go away, Lilia!"

The Bat sighed and closed the door, letting you wallow and whine in pain. He had been around Humans enough to vaguely remember what was wrong, but it had been a long time since he last had to deal with such a situation. Lilia didn't exactly remember the how and the why of your condition, just that it was normal for Humans. No, if anyone knew what was happening, it was you and you were not keen to share your wisdom.

While you were wallowing in self-pity you felt your stomach begin to growl and you just started crying again. None of these moron monsters knew how to cook and you just wanted a nice breakfast to soothe your upset body even if for only a bit. Somewhere during your tears the door to the bathroom had opened again and a delicious smell met your nose.

Walking into the room was the man wreathed in shadows, he set a cloth bag down next to the tub where you lay and stood for a moment watching you. You somewhat recognized him as one of the staff members Crowley had introduced you to the first day- you think his name was Sam- and even in the daylight he looked like liquid darkness. Apparently he was the only one who had a store on campus and he was the one to go to for any and all needs.

"Breakfast is ready downstairs, little Imp."

With that he left the bathroom and closed the door behind him, leaving you to examine what he brought. Inside the bag was a note and several items you thought you would never see in this forsaken world. What looked to be reusable cloth pads took up a good portion of the bag, clearly the kind that could be buttoned and wrapped around undergarments to act like your world's traditional sticky pads. Further down were what seemed to be several small bottles filled with star-shaped pills in various purples, oranges, pinks, and yellows. What almost made you start crying again was the sweet and heartbreakingly beautiful appearance of chocolate fudge in a medium sized tin.

That first bit of fudge melted on your tongue and brought the sugary sweetness of chocolate to your senses. It was like a slice of heaven had fallen into your mouth and you could hardly believe it.

The pads were similar to the disposable ones you had back in your world but with a button clasp along the wing of the pad so it could be secured. You were quick to change your clothes with the extra Lilia had brought you, securing the pad to your underwear and sighing in relief once it all was in place. Though you would have to wash these pads after you switched them out, it was better than nothing.

The note was simple and short, but you couldn't be happier to read the almost elegant script.

'Hey, little Imp. Thought you would need these, though not so soon. Unlike most in Twisted Wonderland, Shadow-folk and Humans were the few species where the child-bearing members have these bleeding cycles. My friends on the other side figured you would want some chocolate. The bottles have some bloating and pain medicine that should help. Only take one of each color twice a day. Chocolate isn't too common, but I think now is as good a time as any to share.

- Sam'

You could have cried it was so beautiful. To think there was someone here who wasn't completely oblivious to your suffering was soothing in ways you hadn't expected. If anything, Sam was now in the top spot for your favorite of the staff members, the others be damned.

As you finally got the chance to clean yourself up and wear clean clothes, you were now ready to emerge from the bathroom you spent most of the morning in. The warm smell of food brought you down to the kitchen and you saw a beautiful sight. Standing near what looked like an entire breakfast feast was Sam, he seemed to be guarding the food from the group that stood eyeing him suspiciously. Ruggie, your guards- minus Malleus- and Grim all stared at the shadow man who refused to let any near the copious amounts of food.

"Morning, little Imp! Figured you would want some breakfast given the morning you've had. Have as much as you like before I let these beasts eat the rest."

Sitting in large bowls and stacked on plates were an assortment of eggs, some kind of sweet smelling breakfast meat- as sausages weren't prevalent in Twisted Wonderland- pan-seared onions and peppers, even pancakes stacked high. It was a veritable feast for the eyes and stomach, the best part being the fact you didn't even have to make it.

"... You're my favorite, did you know that?"

"You honor me, little Imp. I know my sisters and mother would be sending me shadow curses if I didn't at least lend a hand during your time of struggle. Eat up."

You did exactly that as you gathered up a generous portion for yourself and settled at the small table in the kitchen to dig in. Once Sam saw you were happily eating your fair share, he grabbed his own plate before he moved to let the others descend on the food. Lilia was quick to join you and Sam at the small table, not at all put off by your earlier attitude towards him.

"So, Sam, do you know what's going on with (Y/n)?"

"Of course. We shadow people go through a similar process- I should say the ladies and child-bearers of the Shadow people know- I personally don't, but you can bet your ass my meemaw would whoop me something fierce if she found out I left this Human to endure alone when I could have helped."

"Guess there is no need for Malleus to be so distraught then."

You ignored the conversation and simply ate your meal, thrilled someone else knew how to cook a damn fine breakfast. Sebek, Silver, Ruggie, and Grim were content to eat at the kitchen counters instead of the small table, talking quietly to one another. Well, Ruggie and Grim were shoveling food down their gullets, Sebek and Silver were the ones talking.

It was during this conversation that you heard many footsteps thundering down the halls of your dorm to the kitchen. You gripped the fork in your hand tightly and the moment someone grabbed you was the moment you swung the fork to stab whoever dared to touch you. They were quick to let go and narrowly avoided your utensil as they backed off and you saw it was the Headmage.

"(Y/n), my poor little chick! Where are you bleeding-?"

"None of your business!"

Your voice was an angry grumble as you guarded the plate in front of you, putting an arm around it and glaring at the feathered man. He seemed confused before he looked over at Sam who had continued to eat calmly.

"Ah, I should have known you would already be on top of it, Sam. Shadow folk and Humans were two sides of a very similar coin, after all."

"Headmage, why did you bring all these students into her kitchen?"

You looked around and you saw many familiar faces as well as a few unfamiliar faces. Malleus, Vil, Ortho, Azul, Leona, and Riddle were of the familiar. Of the unfamiliar were two men of vastly different appearances. One had white hair and tanned skin, almost seeming to be shining from the inside with a bright gold. The other looked like an older, non-mechanical Ortho with extreme anxiety at even being perceived.

"Mr. Draconia informed us that (Y/n) was unwell and I couldn't keep them from coming with me to check on her-"

"Well, you all are done checking, now go away. I want to eat my breakfast in peace."

"(Y/n)-"

"No! I have had little to no personal space since the moment I fell into this madhouse of a campus and it shouldn't take me having my period to get some! If you all are really that concerned, I have a whole list of things I could only benefit from and you all are welcome to start gathering."

"... Would that make you happy?"

"It would be a start!"

It seemed all of your uninvited guests were uncomfortable as they looked at one another before the shining golden one nodded excitedly. Out of everyone, he seemed the most oblivious to your annoyance and instead seemed happy to be given something to do.

"Sure! What's on the list? I can get stuff for you! Say the word and Jamil and I are on it!"

"See? This is a model Housewarden right here. Doesn't push his own agenda, doesn't demand more information, just says 'okay' and does what is asked of him."

Vil seemed the most offended by this, but kept his thoughts to himself and instead just glared at the happy shining man. Malleus was also clearly displeased by your less than favorable attitude, moving to stand near Lilia as if that would curb your anger at the situation. Ortho seemed to be of the same mind as the first odd-ball and looked ready to run off for whatever you requested.

"Don't forget your medicine, (Y/n)."

Sam prompted gently, continuing his meal as if nothing were amis. Naturally, you had mostly forgotten the bottles of oddly colored stars in your frustration and only now remembered they were present. His note said one of each color twice a day, so you figured it was a morning and night kind of medication.

The stars were actually somewhat cute and you felt a vague temptation to sit and sort the stars by color, but your ever present cramps demanded you take them instead. They actually tasted sweet and must have had a sugar coating of some kind as they went down easily enough. Perhaps it was psychosomatic, but it felt like they were helping the moment you swallowed the odd shapes and felt far less irate even with the herd of others in your home.

"Nee-san, can I have that list you mentioned? You can send it to me via-text so Nii-san and I can get started on gathering things for you!"

"Nee-san?"

"Oh! Are we not close enough yet for me to call you that? Sorry! I just want to be your friend so much I keep forgetting we just met. Oji-san wants to meet you too since he hasn't been able to meet a living Human for a long time and he misses Humans. Would it be okay if he came over?"

It was then the one that looked like an older version of Ortho spoke, resting his hand on Ortho's shoulder.

"Ortho, stop. I get you wanna be her friend but it is so cringe to just invite people over to someone else's place when they aren't feeling well."

"Oh, I'm sorry! I just want everything to work out and Oji-san Hades has been texting non-stop about meeting (Y/n)..."

"We can talk about that later. Okay?"

You raised a single brow at the two- who you assumed to be brothers- as they had their back and forth banter. Somewhere you figured all the Housewardens in your dorm were there to help, but you were still annoyed they came over uninvited. Maybe they could be of use if you split up that growing list of yours and put the clearly eager men to work.

"If I give you all the list will you go away?"

"No," Malleus said, crossing his arms, "I must protect my hoard and if a member of my hoard is unwell, then I shall stand guard until they are well again."

"Fine. You can stay, but I just want a quiet day today. I don't have classes and I just want to sleep."

"You are always welcome to the nest."

"Wasn't asking permission, but thanks, I guess. I also want Silver to be in the nest because he's warm and it feels nice to have heat on my stomach."

"Silver has clases today, but I am free for the day. I can use my magic to warm your stomach so you can rest easy."

"Fine, but if you burn me I'm kicking you out of my dorm permanently."

CHARACTERS: Seven Demon Brothers (Lucifer, Mammon, Leviathan, Satan, Asmodeus, Beelzebub & Belphegor)

CONTEXT: They weren't yet present when this other demon asked you to dance. Especially because with the presence of some of them, the other demons wouldn't even have the courage to approach you.

The demon asked you in a very polite way, so you ended up accepting.

When the brothers / or this specific brother finally arrives, he looks for you and see you dancing with this other demon.

Lucifer surveys the situation. You don't look uncomfortable, as if you were forced to do it. So he decides to wait for your dance to end.

In the middle of the dance the demon sees him. And he shivers. Lucifer was just there. Still. Staring at him. With his arms crossed and an almost sadistic smile. His presence was like a terrifying shadow. And you had no idea.

The demon takes the first polite opportunity he finds to finish the dance, thank you, and say goodbye.

Lucifer tries not to startle you as he approaches you from behind. “Would you grant me this dance?”

As the two of you dance he casually asks you who that demon was you were dancing with earlier. You say you don't know, that he just politely asked if you could dance with him and you didn't see a problem saying yes.

“I must admit he was quite bold to ask you this knowing I wasn't present.”

He is not mad with the demon, since he was polite to you. Nether is he jealous. He knows that he is better than any lesser demon. And he knows that you are his as much as he is yours.

WHAT? Some lower demon is dancing with his human? Oh no!

Mammon wastes no time walking over to you two. He pokes the demon's shoulder. “Yeah, warm up is over bud. The Great Mammon as arrived. So step off, will ya?”

As the other demon was being polite the whole time, you apologize to him for Mammon's behavior before he leaves.

“Wha-? What do you mean your sorry for my behavior? You just danced with him because I wasn't here yet, right?”

You sigh and chuckle. Yes, yes, you've been waiting for the Great Mammon to arrive...

No one has the courage to even look at you anymore. Mainly because whenever someone does that, Mammon looks back at them with a look that says "What are you looking at?"

You two dance to practically every song and he won't let go of you for the rest of the night. Everyone thinks it's in a protective way, but you know that, in addition, it's in a needy way.

You’re dancing with another demon? Of course you're dancing with another demon. Anyone is better to dance with than a shut-in otaku like him. He lets you dance with that demon and goes to a corner of the room.

You finish dancing with the demon who thanks you and the two of you go your separate ways. Levi must have arrived by now. Where would he be?

You look around for him, until you find him in a corner with some snacks from that ball. When you get close to him and see that he looks sad you ask what's going on.

He tells you that he saw you dancing with that demon and didn't want to interrupt. You don't want to dance with Levi do you?

You sigh. He's being self-deprecating again. You stay with him for a while and you eat some of his snacks together. You say that you only agreed to dance with that demon because, and that you were waiting for Levi to arrive to dance with him.

As soon as you manage to restore his self-esteem again, the two of you go dance together.

Some lower demon got the guts to ask you to dance while Satan wasn't there? Oh wait. He knows who that demon is, and he doesn't like him. So now yes, he is angry.

He walks calmly but resolutely towards the two of you. He has that black aura around him.

The Demon is the first to see Satan approaching, which almost petrifies him with fear. But before Satan arrives he lets go of you slowly, starts to walk backwards while looking behind you, and then runs away.

You look back to where the demon was looking so scared and you find Satan. With a smile he put on the second before you turned around. His black aura also disappeared.

You ask him what he did. “Me? I just came to you.” You comment about the demon you were dancing with getting scared. “Oh well, maybe he just gets scared easily.”

“Would you grant me this dance?” he asks you, as if none of that stuff about him scaring the other demon ever happened or was of any importance.

That demon you're dancing with is kind of cute, Asmo's not gonna lie. And seeing that you don't seem to be dancing forced, he doesn't get jealous. He would do the same to be honest.

He waits for you to finish dancing to approach you. He walks up to you smiling, he really doesn't mind that you danced with someone else before he arrived.

“You'll dance with yours truly now, right~?” He asked you in his cute voice. And you dance together to the next song.

However, upon knowing Asmodeus as the Avatar of Lust and seeing that he didn't mind you dancing with other demons, when the song ended another demon arrived to dance with you. But he already arrived taking your hand as if you were accepted anyway.

Asmo stepped in immediately, taking the demon's hand away from you and saying that you hadn't accepted it.

The demon kept talking to Asmo as if he knew Asmo wouldn't mind "sharing" you. Which angrier him to the point where he took on that very rare presence so frightening that even his brothers were afraid.

Seeing that he screwed up so badly, the demon mumbled some excuses and ran away.

Asmo then hugs you and asks if you are ok. He won't let go of you for the rest of the night.

Beel is also not the type to get jealous easily. Especially seeing that you seemed to be enjoying yourself, he had no problem waiting for you two to finish dancing so he could come over to you.

Just before the song ends, he starts walking towards you. He was even smiling. But seeing Beelzebub approaching you two, the demon automatically gets scared, thanks the dance quickly and leaves.

“He looks like he was in a hurry.” Beel says behind you in his innocent tone. You turn. “If I dance a lot I also get hungry. Are you having fun?” he asks you with his cute smile.

In the next song he asks you if you want to dance with him. Even if he's not the best dancer, he'll have a lot of fun just being with you.

No one will ask you to dance anymore. Not because Beel's presence is threatening like some of his brothers, but the simple fact that he is a big and strong demon is enough for everyone else to be afraid to piss him off somehow.

The complete opposite of his twin brother. Belphie gets jealous so easily that he would compete with Mammon and Levi himself.

But he won't just walk up to you two and pull you apart. No, he's more cunning than that.

He walks calculatedly through the dancing crowd. When he gets right behind the demon you're dancing with, Belphie grabs one of his hands and pulls him towards himself, grabbing him as if he's going to dance with him.

“So, do you want to dance?” Belphiehe asked him with a sinister smile on his face. When he saw that he had achieved what he wanted, which was to frighten the demon, he let go of him and let him run away.

When he looks at you, you're looking at him as if asking "what was that for?"

“What? He just didn't want to dance with me.” he was now with that cute little brother face. “But you want, don't you?” and he makes puppy eyes at you.

Needless to say, no one else had the nerve to approach you.

Tbh, I wanna write smth tmrw

Like, I wanna see more NRC vs RSA with the MC being in the middle of it, and also may or may not have been the cause of it all, I SOOO WANT SOMEOME TO WRITE IT.

Like it doesn't matter if the relationship between the character's and reader's are vaguely established whether it's platonic or romantic, like. All I want rn, is more rivalry.

Where the reader is neutral and doesn't seem to be on either sides (but more likely leaning to NRC/RSA whatever the reader prefers), and is slightly biased but won't show it. Like I want a normal reader to just be pulled by the arms metaphorically and figuratively speaking. Like, some random ahh RSA prince (or any good/side character) just falls inlove (or saw reader and made assumptions they could be trapped or smth) and wanted to help the damsel in distress (but it's just stress from assignments and homework). And a whole brawl starts out and the staffs can't do shit bc it's between their students to deal with, but then somehow the headmaster of both prestigious schools, somehow got warped into the situation but are now handling it in their adult ways bc RSA staff vs NRC staff sounds so cool to me rn. Like- I want to see a parental figure and an absent parental figure confront each other. While their students are like: RSA student vs NRC student. And so on. Then reader is like chilling with popcorn in hand (or any of your favorite dish) and is just in the background (this section is for platonic reader and main cast)

But.... on the other hand...

Romantic route would be such a mess. Preferably, I'd like to think that they've yet to confess to reader but also yearn for them in some way, where it feels and sounds eternal, and maybe that emotional turmoil bc they are so emotionally constipated they can't express their feelings normally. But then the RSA students just HAD to ruin it by barging into their campus grounds and taking someone that is clearly not theirs to take. This sets up a shit ton of emotions boiling over and making the headmage worry so much to the point he even tried to help. Because either 1. The reader is probably a personal therapist and a local school crush on campus that everyone wants to have a future with, but also is the very sole reason why their sanity is still intact, because of reader's (either reluctant or not) hospitality and 'kindness' (act of kindness) or 2. Reader is still their emotional support BUT the reader has a crush on THEM and it was pretty obvious that the prefect loves (twst character) that even a blind person can see it and a deaf person can hear a declaration of an obvious lovesick fucker.

So back to platonic route, is that all their friends want them back because where tf is our problem-solver/local chaotic bastard going? No, tf you ain't going to that whitewashed and fed-rainbow version of their school. Come tf back.

[PLATONIC ROUTE]

NRC guys: give the prefect back.

RSA guys: No! You've done enough you villains! You shall not torment this poor soul no longer!

NRC guys:...a declaration of war, I see.

Reader: *doing something cuz idk what you guys do in a situation like this. For me, I'd feel overwhelmed and cry.*

[ROMANTIC ROUTE]

NRC guys: you've picked the wrong person, listen, dude, they're doing fine in our school. And please, for the sake of the sevens. DON'T touch them like that.

RSA guys: How about, no? You nefarious villains should be forbidden to touch a divine maiden like them! You evil-doers shouldn't even deserve to live! (Okay, maybe excluding Neige and Che'nya out of this, since I find it hard to imagine them saying this :>)

NRC guys:...so you've chosen war? Let our beloved prefect go so they can choose on their own, they have their own preferences, so I kindly ask of you, stop projecting your delusions on someone you barely know of.

Reader:*Maybe just watching this whole shit go down, as they are being thrown back and forth, switching schools so very often it actually makes them want to throw up. Personally, I'd crash out and slap each of the boys, especially talking abt RSA and some of the annoying NRC students. Like, bro, let me rest, chill?*

Maybe there is a very delusional (but sly) prince that is neither from RSA or NRC? And that, there are other schools that had heard about the Ramshackle Prefect. And is also vying for them as well???? Wouldn't it be so cool if the reader could at least pull a hot madame??? Or like a princess academy, where not all of them are necessarily girl likers (if reader is fem) or boy likers (if reader is male) like, the reader could be anyone and they still pull. (I want hot women please give me a chance 🙏🙏🙏 *glances for a quick second at most of the twsted fem OC fanarts I've seen recently.*)
