Abandoned his 4 children not long after their mother died in childbirth and never returned

Possibly left the eldest son traumatised by feeling like he has to assume responsibility for his siblings

2. Jean-Jacques Rousseau

Had his mistress give up all the 5 children they had together and put them into an orphanage right after giving birth

Said he had 'no other choice' despite the fact that he stayed with the children's mother long after that and eventually ended up marrying her anyway

Didn't agree on having the children adopted by his benefactress instead of giving them to the orphanage

After the first one, he didn't leave the children with a monogram so he could potentially take them back after his material conditions improved

Said that he felt guilty about what he has done but that the real villain of the story were his friends who shared the information with the public

Ended up writing a hugely influential book on how to best raise children and see to their education (later claimed that he 'almost confessed' to the orphanage story in Émile itself though)

from your character analysis ask meme, for alhaitham: Are they prone to jealousy? would he be too logical to be jealous? Would his jealousy be in vain or would it perhaps be a sign that his partner has crossed the line of sorts?

Definition of jealousy:

I apologize for taking some time with this ask. I’m going to answer this in a more analytical format because I think this situation calls for it. I want to say that no, under normal circumstances, Alhaitham is not the kind of person to get jealous. In my experience, there are usually three triggers for jealousy:

1. Reader interacting normally with friends and hobbies and partner gets (unreasonably) jealous

2. Reader getting too involved with spending time with friends/hobbies not realizing they’re neglecting partner which gets them (reasonably) jealous

3. Reader specifically does things that will incite jealousy within partner by purposefully doing things like ignoring partner or flirting with others

Alhaitham would not get jealous under the first instance. Being a very independent person, he would understand and respect his partner’s need for it as well. The second instance would be the closest he’d feel to your definition of jealousy. While he’d be able to withstand it for a while, eventually he’d probably feel neglected and would pull you away to capture your sole attention.

As for the third scenario, while he would get upset and would get jealous, I don’t believe this would happen in a normal relationship. Personally, I would never flirt with someone that isn’t my partner just for fun, even if I’m close to them. I think that’s a very hurtful thing to do to someone that has feelings for you.

So long story short, no, I don’t think Alhaitham is prone to jealousy. Not that he’s “too logical” to be jealous. He just understands and respects people’s need for independence. That being said, he probably can end up feeling neglected if left alone too long.

I can imagine photos Aphelios and Alune take together to send Yone, either just group selfies (usually one 'serious' or nicely taken one, followed shortly by a much more unflattering one) or things they see when they're out together like events, meals, or clothes etc. (because Aphelios only goes outside when Alune drags him out) and these photos played a part in being kind of accountability-buddies while they were going through their individual rough times...

Once leaning Yone owns a cat, if not already shared by him, the twins would beg to see pictures of Luna frequently. this is also done in pm's and there might have been a competition at one point to collect more images of Luna than the other, and ranking the rarity of the images mostly based on the kitty-action caught.

Aphelios would also share screenshots of his progress work to Yone, and any mishaps along the way like his software crashing at the worst possible time, or new instruments.

After joining heartsteel and getting settled in, Aphelios also makes memes of the other members (as well as himself) such as this, though these are moreso shared in their group chat and threatened to be posted on socials than sent just between private messages.

In a gently teasing way, and to make sure he's keeping up with the latest viral jokes, I feel like Aphelios will often send Yone the freshest of memes just to gauge his reaction, and to test him.

Stell certainly likes to say that he is fearless, but he has fears just like any other being, better masked as they may be.

The thing Stell values above all else is agency, his sense of control over a situation. He worked hard to get to where he is now, and anything that threatens to tip the delicate balance he's built will send him scrambling to set things straight. They've clawed their way out of dark days, and they'll do anything to not slip back to the bottom.

Otherwise, you can also toss dirt at them and watch them freak out hahaha

WELCOME TO THE CLUB, watch the trigger warnings. but yeah, revolutionary girl utena veers more and more towards surrealism the further you get into the series. it often and voluntarily forfeits narrative/logical consistency in favor of visual storytelling, metaphors and symbolism. i was just talking about it with nic the other day, and if the story weren't so harrowing, i would recommend it to everyone who wants to get into literary analysis, because it is SO packed with symbolism EVERYWHERE that it actually encourages you to try to decode it.

whatever you think utena is about, it is NOT. you can't go in and treat it like your 49293th classical shoujo. utena is a firework show of visual symbolism and it very rarely, if ever, explains itself to the viewer. it refuses to handhold you, but it never berates you for trying and getting it wrong either. there is SO much handholding in modern day media, but utena trusts its viewer to take away something meaningful from itself and to piece its message together on their own. it's one of my favourite pieces of media of all time just for that
