So, good morning/afternoon/evening/whatever time it is where you are!

I’m in my last year at college which means that I have to hand in my thesis until the middle of April. I was lucky enough to be able to choose a subject which is very, very close to my heart and that is *drumrolls* FANFICTION! Some of you may have read my earlier post about my struggle with this choice but all those struggles ended when I was thankfully allowed to choose that certain teacher as my advisor whom I originally wanted and whose class I have attended this spring.

Anyway, she was very enthusiastic about my subject and helped me decide what exactly it is that I want to focus on about fanfiction. First, I wanted to write about the Mary Sue character type and that’s still part of it, but after talking to her and presenting my arguments about why I want this subject so much, she helped me realize that actually I have a mission with all this and that mission could be present in my thesis without taking away from its scientific value.

Wondering what that mission is? It’s the same thing I talked about in my earlier post. I’d like to tell people that fanfcition is more than what most people think about it. It’s more than satisfying ourselves through badly written, cliched pornography with poor grammar. Fanfiction IS valuable, there are fanfictions that have actual, real literary value and I’d like to make people realize that. In order to do that we have to start talking about it outside of fandom, WE have to talk about it, WE, who write it, WE, who read it, WE, who love and create all the amazing fanart.

So, that’s the foundation of my thesis. I need to do research on the subject, so I created a survey about the following questions:  What do people think about the stories themselves? What do they think about the people who write it? What do they think about the people who read it? If you write, do you tell people (your friends, family, etc) or is it not something that you can proudly “advertise”? And if you read? Do you tell people that?

So, I would be very grateful if you followed the link below and answered my questions. It would be tremendously helpful, if you shared it with non-readers/writers because I’m interested in their answers too, since I have specific questions for them. You can even share it with non-fandom member friends or anyone you can think of, because I’m really curious about their opinion on fanfictions too.

I can't tell if its still your Birthday. If it is Happy Birthday! If not, Happy Late Birthday! Thank You for writing great stories. I've been reading them a lot since my break up & even started following you after seeing how many I liked. They have been helping so much for the Warm Fuzzy feelings that I need. Wow this got a bit lost on my inbox, sorry for the late reply, and thank you anyway for your beautiful wishes! It seriously warmes my heart to read this! I keep reading and reading this over and over again and I’m so honored and happy to know this and I wish I will be able to do this for you and for as many people as possible in the future too. although, better yet, I hope there will come a day when I won’t need to because your lives will be filled with happness either way!

As for my fave ones, wow, how come I can’t remember every time somebody asks me but when it’s completelly irrelevant (like during an exam) I start thinking about them? I’m just gonna dig through my likes cause the ones I’ve loved to death are certainly there and hope I find some!

Is this blog your main or a side blog? I am curious who are your fav writers that you follow?

This blog is, I’d say, my main one. I have a side blog that I rarely post in, but I haven’t opened that properly in about a year. I did post something there the other times but other than that I have forgotten about it because well this was a very stressful and busy year for me.

Now as for fave writers, uhm I can’t remember if I follow all of them (in this blog I follow mainly news blogs about celebs and gif blogs) - as I said I haven’t been in for very long and haven’t read much since I came back a month ago because I write like crazy and all but uhm if I had to say about some it would be:

and I know I have followed just as many with my side blog whose stories I read more frequently than others but I haven’t checked it in over a year. However if I am completely honest I don’t focus so much on the writers, I seriously just read whatever story comes on my feed or when I check the tags that I like. I also spend time on other sites so there’s that.

Since I missed it yesterday, due to illness, I would like to take the time right now and make my own Fanfic Writers Appreciation Post to honor and thank some of the fanfic writers that I love, admire, and respect so very much. thenightyouknow - writes awesomely long (3K+)  and flawless stories and if I remember correctly, English isn’t even their native tongue. I’m in love.

angelcatsiel - Chloe is an actual angel and can write any genre/character and will even tackle triggering requests with ease and precision and they are very therapeutic to read. Bravo!

beabex - the first “series” writer I found and followed because she can keep you on the edge of your seat like NONE other. I mean c’mon. Marriage of Convience! Hello?! I can’t wait for her to come back from hiatus. I miss her and need her stories like oxygen.

katorainwonderland - this gorgeous angel writes the best Gadreel and Spencer Reid fics I’ve ever read! Lawdy have mercy!

kittenofdoomage - captures character personalities with deadly accuracy. Supernatural or the CW should hire her, seriously.

khorybannefin - Can write everything from side splitting comedy (Hunter Heal Thyself will make you wheeze. It’s fluffy comedic gold!) to soul scorching smut (Freaks Come Out At Night is just absolutely priceless. It’s got everything you will ever need.) flawlessly and writes at lightning speed. I’ve seen her post 3 fics in one day! Why she isn’t in Hollywood writing scripts for TV and movies, I’ll never know. She’s my hero and I hope that someday I can at least get in the same realm of her awesomeness!

sparksflycastiel - Meg is one of those writers in which I read one fic and immediately followed her because I knew everything she writes will be gold. I mean Good Christ, I’ve read “soulmate” based fics before, but her Soul Mates Aren’t Just for Trashy Romance Novels had a plot twist that I wasn’t expecting and her words illustrate things beautifully.

sweethavok - Alaina is a goddess who wrote a fic (Everything Burns) that resonated with me on such a personal level, it was scary. I knew instantly that we’d become best friends and I was right. I love this girl to the moon and back and I always will!

Uuuu, that’s a really nice thing ^.^

1: Cuddle-laughing ... You know when you’re cuddling with someone, regardless of your relationship with someone (as long as it is good, you know...) and you’re just beeing held and you are both laughing so hard of something? Yeah, that makes me really happy.

2: Spring days like today! So, there are still some snow, but the streets are bare, the sun is shining and actually warming a little and then there are these kids in my street playing outside and it is just really nice :D

3: THE FACT THAT ME BEST FRIEND IS COMING HOME TO VISIT IN TWO WEEKS! 

4: Roadtrips. I’’m a real sucker for those. Can someone please just come and pick me up? We could, like, make a picnic or something and then just drive.

5: Holidays. Either with my family (I’m going to be an aunt, YEAY!) or those long summer days with my friends on the beach (complete with roadtrip and cuddle-laughing and bathing and sund bathing, please). I am actually looking forward to the summer this year! First time in four years, so yeay me!

I honestly would suggest reading any of her fics you want, I absolutely ADORE the way she writes, and have almost every fic in her masterlist too!
