mentally i’m still there (the day mike came back wrong)
fist we get morning crew going on a rescue mission to save mike but he’s all traumatised and weird
then the ICONIC cryptic messages in chat saying he’s gonna kill ramon. then mike going on a tangent saying he doesn’t trust fit and he’s gonna kill the eggs and fit shouldn’t talk to pac because mike knows what he did (is it lore ? is he just crazy ? we will never know and i wouldn’t have it any other way). mind you this is all taking place in front of a strip club btw.
then phil arrives and he’s like what the fuck is going on and then FOOLISH arrives and he’s like thats crazy anyway dapper made me a guillotine once maybe this could fix mike. sadly this doesn’t fix him but foolish is like you know what could help ? cocaine.
and kelp DID help so now mike is a different kind of crazy he can hear the universe and smell colors. good for him.
everything is back to normal (as normal as it can be anyway) so time for mike to go back to the infirmary and have a good night sleep. sleep doesn’t come that easy tho but thankfully bbh is here to save the day and drop anvils on his head.

I LIKE the conflict in apple woods!!!#hero and partner being punished so something they didn’t do!#the misunderstanding! how team skull (Skuntank) actually outplays the main duo with a clever yet rotten trick. have you read (and/or enjoyed) Haunting Adeline? I’ve seen some stuff about it that kinda piques my interest but i have seen a ton of people say it sucks and i’m hesitant to buy it in case i hate it but i trust your judgement lol
when i went searching for dark romance books, it frequently popped up and was one of the first i ended up reading. Haunting Adeline, That Sik Love, the Predator, the Ritual, Den of Vipers, Carnage, Haunt me Darling, Take me With You. pretty much anything that came up on a quick search, i devoured in a span of two weeks. but out of all of them, i was really disappointed by Haunting Adeline :/
it was so hyped up on tiktok, Reddit, goodreads, and rec pages that i was really excited for it, only to feel pretty swindled after. i won't get into spoilers since you haven't read it, but i was not a fan of a lot of the plot choices and character decisions. idk. i guess i just like it when things make sense.
for most of the book, i was bored or mad. usually, if i'm sucked into a plot, i can finish within a few hours of non-stop reading. but this one took me a whole two days to get through. i just wasn't interested in continuing. i'd read a little bit, get overcome with a visceral feeling of "oh for FUCK'S SAKE!" and then do something else because i'd couldn't be bothered to continue. it was not living up to the expectations i had for it (or the ones set by reviews i'd read), but even outside of that, it just didn't click with me at all. i just didn't find the leads compelling enough to stick around. it was trying to be too much at all once, and for me, it failed at a lot of it.
BUT! the smut was good. very hot. fmc made some very typical fmc choices (re: stupid ones that no person living in the real world would have, but easily very forgiveable). for most of it, i was kinda wishing Addie lobbed the mmc upside the head with a shovel. he was so useless, it made me wanna cry. and i love unrepentant mmcs, but i just didn't click with his character at all because he was a walking contraction and his values made little sense to me at all.
in all reality, i should have dnf at 45% but i suffered through and now i wake up in a cold sweat thinking about these lines:
#idk if this makes sense but this book was def giving “we have dark romance at home”#i think the overhype definitely was to its detriment#i went into this expecting so much more and was pretty let down and i think if it didnt get so many “EWWW!!! SCARY EVIL!” reviews#it would have faired better#didnt enjoy it LMAO#but i always give things second chances if i hate it so im gonna come back to it in a month or two and see if my feelings changed

And then I come up to the next thing#Something I haven't done before - something that there's no Direct how-to of how to do a thing#Like setting player-and-character pronouns! I didn't know how to do that! But I figured it out!! :0 What a rush haha#It really did take me an evening of knocking my head against the wall in attempts - I waaaayyy overcomplicated it to start haha#I was like - trying to set up a system that would call on specific pronoun sets individually based on player input#Ridiculous - so much easier to just slap some values into an envelope and have those tied to a specific shell lol#But that took all night! I got sleepy while working on it and even my drowsy brain was like Wait...what am I supposed to check against? Haha#Such a weird experience subconsciously as well :0 'Cause I had normal dreams that night#Maybe some slight code-adjacent dreams of A Screen With Text On It but that could be anything :P#Most of it was just normal dream melodrama - but in the few times I woke up to readjust or roll over or pull my blanket#It was juuuuust enough for my ''conscious'' brain to kick in and think about what to compare against - what structure would work#And so by the time I woke up proper I had to frantically write down a bunch of code in a spare word document so I wouldn't go stir crazy lol#Breakfast must wait! If me and the other dps die to raidwides in Prae Gaius with me and the tank using our reprisal/addle + me using my tempura off cooldown, with the other dps dying to the next raidwide after being raised. Maybe the healer can cast just one heal. Just literally a single one. Is that okay.

god i fucking hate my dad
