Minnesota Twins-Kansas City Royals Series Preview
7.28.23-Sonny Gray RHP (4-4) 3.15 ERA Vs. Brady Singer RHP (6-8) 5.55 ERA
7.29.23-Bailey Ober RHP (6-4) 2.76 ERA Vs. Jordan Lyles RHP (1-12) 6.19 ERA
7.30.23-Kenta Maeda RHP (2-5) 4.62 ERA Vs. Ryan Yarbrough LHP (3-5) 4.70 ERA
The Twins At A Glance- The Twins started the second half hot with a (9-2) record, but the Mariners took the last two games of the series. The Twins now head out on an all-Missouri road trip to Kansas City and St. Louis this week. Byron Buxton will be activated from the paternity list and Trevor Larnach was optioned back to St. Paul. Jorge Polanco should be activated and I’m not sure what the roster move will be. It probably will be Matt Wallner getting optioned to St. Paul. Joey Gallo left Wednesday’s game with an illness, but it doesn’t seem too severe. Nick Gordon is close to beginning baseball activities. Royce Lewis has been playing catch and taking swings over the past week. Eddie Julien is hitting .410 after the All-Star break. Ryan Jeffers has found his swing with a .409 average after the break. The pitching staff hasn’t been as good lately. The whole staff owns a 4.61 ERA in the second half. Caleb Thielbar will make one more rehab appearance for the Saints before being activated in St. Louis next week. Brock Stewart threw a fifteen-pitch bullpen session on Wednesday as he works his way back.  Emilio Pagan has been getting better and has allowed two runs over his last eleven innings of work.
The Royals At A Glance- The Royals have been the opposite of the Twins with a (3-10) record in the second half. They have already traded Aroldis Chapman and possibly more moves are to come before the trade deadline. Dairon Blanco is hot with a .429 average in the second half. Freddy Fermin has a .409 average after the break. Matt Beaty is working his way back from a concussion with a rehab assignment at Omaha. Daniel Lynch couldn’t throw a bullpen session Monday and Brad Keller returned to the team after a terrible rehab assignment. It’s unknown what the next step is for both pitchers. Josh Staumont is out for the season with thoracic outlet syndrome surgery. Josh Taylor has a herniated disc and is expected to miss the remainder of the season. The Royals pitching staff has a 5.22 ERA in the second half. Nick Wittgren has been good with a 1.69 ERA over 5 1/3 innings after the break. Scott Barlow has a .900 ERA in seven July innings.
What To Watch For- The Twins are (9-1) against the Royals in 2023. This is one of the few reasons why I don’t like the new schedule. The Twins play the Royals less and it’s one less series at Kauffman Stadium for myself. Sonny Gray is (9-2) with a 1.54 ERA in twelve starts against the Royals. Brady Singer is (-6) with a 6.15 ERA in ten games against the Twins. Byron Buxton and Max Kepler have two homers off Singer. Bailey Ober has a 4.00 ERA in six starts against the Royals. Jordan Lyles has a 5.00 ERA in five starts versus the Twins. Max Kepler has two homers off Jordan Lyles. Kenta Maeda is (3-0) with a 1.00 ERA in eighteen innings versus Kansas City. Ryan Yarbrough has a 5.82 ERA in seventeen innings against the Twins. Christian Vazquez has three career homers off Yarbrough. This will be a hot week for the Twins in Missouri. Every game this weekend should be in the 90′s.

Scott McCall- Nesting
Over the last week everyone has noticed the change in YN’s behaviour. She went from being calm most of the time to stressing over the smallest of things. It all started when Scott came home and had blood on his shirt, instead of going and taking it off and getting it washed ASAP he made himself a drink, YN wasn’t impressed. Since then things have been getting more intense especially today at the Hale loft, the pack are having a meeting, but instead of sitting and being apart of the group YN is cleaning
“Whats gotten into YN?” Lydia asks Scott
“No idea” Scott sighs “all week she’s been acting weird”
“In what way?” Stiles asks as they all watch YN open up the fridge
“So I told you about the other day after our training session with the new wolves, she went crazy saying that from now on if I have blood on me I can’t enter the house. I know she’s one of us Derek and I don’t know that much about female wolves, but she’s constantly cleaning, every bit of dust or dirt. Just yesterday she changed our bedding, it was changed 3 days ago”
“Could she be going into heat. You know she acts weird around then” Stiles suggests. Derek and Peter look at each other
“No, we’ve dealt with that for the last 3 years. I know what she’s like and this isn’t it”
“Derek, Peter this is disgusting!” YN calls from the kitchen “this cheese went out of date yesterday” YN starts to throw out food causing Peter to sigh
“Scott, your buying us more food”
“Ok something is definitely going on with her” Lydia says crossing her arms
“Derek any idea?” Scott asks
“I think I know, but it’s not my place to say, I don’t actually think she knows herself”
“You’ll find out soon enough” Peter now says to Scott, slightly annoying him that the 2 older wolves won’t say what’s going on.
After the meeting Scott and YN head home, the first thing YN does is go to the couch and move the pillows around
“Ok what’s going on YN?” Scott asks his mate
“What do you mean?”
“Well you’ve been acting weird all week. Your pacing more and cleaning none stop. You smell different as well. Are you feeling ok?” YN looks at Scott with a frown as she thinks
“I guess I’ve been feeling more irritated and disgusted lately, but on the whole I don’t feel ill”
“Derek and Peter seem to know what was wrong, they wouldn’t tell me”
“I mean I was due for my heat last week maybe it’s that?”
“No, when your due for your heat your just tired and hungry. This is different” YN sits down on the couch pulling the blankets off the back of the couch over herself. Scott sits next to her and pulls her into him. YN continues to think about what could be going on, but she can’t figure it out.
The next few days, things are the same. Neither Scott or YN can figure out what is going on, so Scott decided the best thing to do is go and speak to Dr Deaton
“Well YNs pregnant”
“Pardon?” YN says with raised eyebrows
“Your pregnant. Normally in packs this is talked about, but as your pack is a little… different to how they usually work, theres no female wolf to explain all of this to you. Granted Derek or Peter should have, but it may have been a little awkward for them”
“So why am I cleaning all the time?”
“Your nesting YN. I’d say you’ve got another 4 months of pregnancy”
“4 months?” Scott practically yells
“Gestation period is a lot faster than a humans. Anyway. Congratulations both, just be prepared for a lot more nesting and also Scott your going to become a lot more aggressive and protective of YN. You’ll also be sensing the baby in the next week or so”
“Thank you Deaton”
“No problem”
Just as the Dr had said. Over the next week Scott has become a lot more aggressive when any of the other male wolves interacts with YN, and she has been nesting a lot! that’s why they have decided that YN would stay away from pack business for now and Scott would go on his own after dropping YN off at his moms house. Both YN and Scott can’t wait to meet their bundle of joy in a few months time.

happy not last life tuesday everybody!! it's that session 7 fic i won't shut up about, aka. the testament to how incredibly slow i am at writing, started this almost a week ago now. pretty happy how it turned out overall, though, so a like and reblog would mean the world to me :]
So, here is: The Six Allies That Martyn Lost + The One He Still Has Left | 3k words
“He looks ill”, Grian whispered and Martyn swallowed his comment of “He looks dead.”
His grey skin was littered with the remains of an explosion barely covered up by the loosely sitting bandages and his piercing red eyes glared into Martyn’s for an eternity, or maybe it was only a moment, but it was enough to hear the screams of “this could be different”.
It was enough to remember his hand tightly grasping Martyn’s, warm in a way he knew it wasn’t anymore.
Enough to remember how hesitant, yet genuine he sounded when he said “Deal” and “I trust you”.
Enough to remember Jimmy, gullible, gullible Jimmy, ripping open his then brown eyes when he realized he was lied to.
Because that was something Martyn knew how to do, lie to people. How to weave a story just believable enough not to get questioned.
And so, he told them about his ‘halloween costume’ and saw Grian chase Jimmy away, joking about how he would be the first one to go today.
It felt a lot less like a joke when he saw Grian shoot and Jimmy fall. He didn’t even hear him scream.
Of course, he backed Grian up when he said it was justified.
After all, Martyn was a liar and Jimmy was dead.
---
“‘Till death do us part”, Martyn had joked once, but as he approached the duo of Mumbo and Skizz for a deal, he wondered if that condition had already been met.
It wasn’t like Mumbo looked that much different, he pondered. He had been powdered with red the minute he spawned into this world, though the dust that was before uselessly specked on his skin seemed to be buzzing with a new found energy now. There was also the gaping axe wound in his side and… one other thing.
Martyn didn’t know how to describe it, but there was something about the way he crouched and smiled at them, a foreign glitter in his eyes. How eager he was to accept a deal he didn't even get an offer for. How he turned around on one heel, rushing to do a hit as if he was asked to get groceries.
Martyn would have taken grey skin over that any day.
It was only after they were gone that he noticed how he had been grasping his communicator, finger dangerously close to where he knew he had saved a command just some time prior.
He deleted it, then, after watching Grian spill blood on a black suit.
Simply because he wouldn’t need it anymore.
Not when Martyn was a widow and Mumbo was dead.
---
Martyn has heard the curse being described in many ways, but none of it had been enough to prepare himself for the impact. He supposed it made sense that no one else felt it quite as immediately, it wasn’t like any of the other members had the same… pumpkin infestation problem as him.
Either way, it wasn’t an itch, nor a mist. He supposed ‘burning’ was as close a simile he was going to find. His vision was clouded, but he didn’t see red.
He saw green.
With the heat of the just exploded end crystal still behind his back, he swung his sword and Grian’s body fell towards it, but it was too late.
It was only a second in which it went lump, any last trace of life escaping into the night, and then it disappeared with a respawn before even hitting the ground.
“I’ll take that!”, Joel laughed and somehow, that made the flames rise higher.
It wasn't until way later that Martyn saw Grian again, just a red speck in the corner of his vision while he was focused on the wither.
He heard him yelp, once, presumably one of Scott’s arrows, but as cold metal stung his ring finger, he couldn’t bring himself to pity.
The smell of smoke still lingered close to the soil as Martyn tried a last feeble attempt to restore the farm.
He was truly alone, now, the unjust heir of the southern palace. Maybe it was so ironic because there never had been a big reveal of double-crossing. Even when practically flaunting his false loyalty, people were too preoccupied for suspicion.
That didn’t mean it was any less wrong for him to be here when none of the others could.
Not when Martyn was a traitor and Grian was red.
---
When meeting the shadow alliance for the first time Martyn’s focus hadn’t been on BigB at all, really.
How could it be, when Ren was right there, Ren, Ren, his Ren, just an arms length away?
How could it be, when he was about to meet Her only ever whispered about Highness, whose reputation deemed her fae?
No, that wasn’t why, was it? Not only, anyway. It was also that BigB just… felt natural. He felt comfortable, like it was the most right thing in the world to be on his side.
Maybe that was why he was so easy to trust. (Maybe that had been Cleo’s downfall).
Martyn had heard Dogwarts being described as a family before, and there was no denying that he liked the thought. Yes, the things the war had done to them were horrible, but there was nothing that could bond you quite like healing someone's wounds and smelling their dying breath. And despite everything about this world, he knew he’d throw it all away again for the red banner.
BigB had been the same, then. He was there, whether it was out of a personal grudge or for their protection didn’t matter, as long as Martyn had somebody to turn his back to.
So really, nobody could blame him for falling into easy banter again. Nobody could blame him for following whatever mission they were on and getting distracted by whatever tangent again.
It was fun. That was all there was to it.
Martyn had joked and he had called BigB dad, once, and he went along with the bit and they laughed and it was so simple and careless and god, it’s silly, but in that moment he dared to indulge in the wish that things were different.
He shouldn't have.
Not when Martyn was sentimental and BigB was red.
---
Where there was laughter bubbling just some seconds ago a sense of dread crept up in Martyn's chest as he watched Mumbo slowly climb the ladder.
“Red light”, he typed, hoping Grian and Impulse got the hint and then looked around the area beneath the platform to see if there was anything he could do to help.
He was quick to pull out his water and pour it onto the floor, only to see it evaporate in milliseconds.
Right. They were in hell. He forgot about that.
Sighing, he turned away, hoping the both of them would be smart enough not to risk anything by themselves.
He should have known his southern allies better than that, really, but it took him until he heard a bone shattering scream just in his right ear to realize.
Impulse’s body disappeared while it’s thud was still ringing through the nether roof, but even the short moment he got to see it was enough to make Martyn’s blood run cold.
Fuck.
“Careful, be careful!”, he called out, while navigating his route around the cold walls of the snow fort.
Jumping away from one of the wither’s blasts just in the last second, he somehow managed to put his arm right in one of the flying arrow’s tracks.
After cursing through the piercing pain, he yelled again. “The reds are shooting, be careful!”
The reds, he said, despite knowing pretty exactly who it was on the other side of the snow. It was easier to think of them that way. He couldn’t be distracted by having faces and dead bodies to the names.
Another arrow flew over his head, this time it was Scott shooting.
“Landed one, landed one!”
The callouts blended into background noise as he shifted his attention back onto the wither. Striking one hit, maybe two, a loud scream of celebration pulled him away again.
“Impulse down!”
“Let's go!”, he joined in, voice filled with an energy he wasn’t really feeling.
He forced himself to focus on it, though, and on the adrenaline of the battle. And if he was blinded by an image of a body so distorted that it’s splintered bones were visible through it’s bloodied skin, that was for nobody else to know.
Not when Martyn was cheering and Impulse was dead.
---
“I like your words”, Martyn smiled carefully while looking up into the deeply blue eyes of the fairy. “You carry yourself with honor and dignity.”
He meant it then, respect for the woman visible in his every move, even when he opposed her authority. How could he not, when he saw the way Ren looked at her? The way BigB shifted at her side?
When he knew about that gamble she took, just a second before one soul met its demise?
She had the aura of a leader and it radiated from every patch of her skin. Somehow, he knew it didn’t stop at the borders of this world.
It was different, now, as he saw her standing below him, soot and blood of somebody whom she had offered refuge just days ago covering her arms. She smiled, a smile so nonchalant for admitting to a murder it made him feel sick. Though he knew well enough he wasn’t one to judge.
That was the last time he saw her, but it wasn’t the last he was in her presence. There was one other time, and his leg still ached, he was still struggling to breathe from running, running, two pairs of footsteps far too close to be comfortable. Her goodbye to him was being hunted, for no other reason than the bloodlust that spawned out of a hateful death.
So when she fell, when she was gone, gone, truly gone, he was not the one to keep her name in honor. He wasn’t who’s sobs could be heard through the cold night. He wasn’t the one to gather anything that reminded him of her in a pile, just to have something, anything reminiscent of a grave in this world that didn’t allow the dead to rest. He was not the one to pray for her, to whatever god was merciful enough to listen.
How could it have been him, when Lizzie was not his queen and now could never be?
---
The crooked towers of the south loomed over his head with long shadows and it was as if they were mocking Martyn’s feeble attempt to fall asleep. Of course, the day and night and day before had been restless, not enough time to catch a breath let alone close his eyes between the constant reminders of death, death, death.
He didn’t know how he had hoped it would be different now.
The moon looked down on him, seemingly trying to let her light play on his features in comfort, but there was little she could do that would make the silence inside the walls feel less ghostly. And so, he took the pathway she illuminated and left.
He didn’t have a route or a goal, except whatever path was not claimed by mobs, so he let himself wander. He didn’t know how long he had walked or how far he’d come, either. Before, he could have made a rough estimate, but the world that felt so busy and restricting had suddenly become huge.
There was a weird feeling that followed him, like nostalgia or some deep sadness threatening to break out now he had nothing to focus on to keep it away. He ignored it, somewhat, but there was another one, a feeling, that he couldn’t shake no matter how much he tried.
He felt like he was being watched.
He wondered how accurate that was.
It wasn’t like he thought the dead would enjoy following him around, really, that must be boring, but then maybe they didn’t have much choice. Being forced to watch somebody who lied to you, didn’t help you, cheered your death? Martyn grimaced at the thought.
Himself, he never got to figure out where souls go in this world, last time. The end was too close to the Battle of Dogwarts for it to make sense to try and find anything on that other plane.
He died. Grian jumped. The time in between happend. (He didn’t know how he felt about the time in between). Then he was back here again, though this ‘here’ was very different from that ‘here’.
It was still the same, really, but he supposed nobody else knew it like he did. The world was the same, on the most fundamental level, and it had liked the first story it crafted. They changed the rules, they said not to repeat alliances, but they still felt it, all of them, tugging on their limbs towards familiarity. He saw it, in glances between Jimmy and Scott. He heard it, in banter between Grian and Scar. He knew it, when the first corpse hit the floor and didn’t disappear.
For some reason the world decided it would be funny if Martyn was the one to feel this the most, was his best bet.
And so, he wasn’t surprised with himself at all when his feet inevitably led him towards the shadow tower. Ah, so it would be one of those nights where he would sit outside the walls, letting the strings that bound him to it burn themselves out a bit, with no intention to get in. Far from the first one.
What he was surprised about, though, was how the tower stood out, a warm orange illuminating the stone, setting it apart from the cold moonlight. It was faint enough, the fire of two or three furnaces, maybe, but it flickered and glowed just that bit stronger as another one got lit.
Figured Ren couldn’t sleep, either.
Standing there a bit dumbfounded, Martyn was unsure of what to do. He couldn’t stay, really, feeling like he was intruding and not wanting to be seen. Yet, and he had to admit that to himself with a goulp, he didn’t want to leave, either. Not to ghost town. Anywhere but to ghost town.
Before he could make up his mind, that decision got torn out of his hands, as the door opened with a creak.
“Martyn?”, Ren’s voice sounded out and his ears stood up straight. “Bro, whatcha doin’ out here at this hour, you must be gatherin’ the creepers-”.
And then Ren looked at him, truly looked at him, and whatever he saw made his expression soften.
“Come in”, he said.
It was a command in all but tone and Martyn felt his feet move before he knew what he was doing.
Ren closed the door behind them and watched him settle in for a second, as if he had never been in here before. Then, he helped himself to Martyn’s bandana, untying it and running his hand through his hair once, ruffling it so it would dry and oh, it had been raining, he hadn’t noticed that.
“Man, you look like you haven’t slept since new years.”
Ren’s voice was laced with genuine concern, but Martyn couldn’t help but grow defensive.
“Could say the same about you, to be honest.”
Ren looked away, his eyes darting towards the ladder.
“Wanna come up? I’ll boil you some water, you look like you need it.”
They said in silence for a while after that, Martyn working his way through the… tea, and Ren sitting beside him, offering company. The more time passed, though, the more uneasy he grew, fidgeting with his suspenders and wagging his tail up and down in an uneven rhythm.
Frankly, it was annoying.
“Come on, spit it out, what is it?”
“Nothing! There is nothing wrong! What could you mean?”
Ren’s overly eager answer only gained an unimpressed glance. He sighed in resignation
“Uh, I don’t think you were with us at the time, but I suggested to the other greens and yellows to make the tower our place to hide-out if they wanted to. Thought it’d be safer to stick in a huddle. I guess you can see they didn’t take the offer”, he chuckled humorlessly.
“Stickin’ by what I said, though. It’s not safe. So, I guess what I mean, uh. Would you wanna stay here, maybe, for the time being?”
‘Oh’, Martyn thought and let out a breath. “Yes, yes I would.”
He didn’t realize it then, not immediately, but this was the moment he let go. When he stopped trying to resist the world’s strings so desperately. When he let himself fall.
He didn’t remember the details of what happened next, but at some point they had thrown together a blanket pile on the floor so they had a place to rest next to each other.
Now, he was laying by Ren’s side, close enough to feel the warmth radiate off his skin.
They had talked, then, and Martyn told him. Not all of it, of course, far from all of it, he didn’t even know how to put most of it in words, but he didn’t need to for Ren to understand.
For his part, Ren talked a lot as well, about Lizzie, BigB and Cleo too sometimes, but mostly about his queen and when he said her name, his voice was as far away as could be.
And Martyn listened, until his speech grew slurred and his breaths quietened, became more regular.
Martyn wasn’t about to fall asleep himself, not for hours, but it didn’t matter. Not when he felt right for the first time on this goddamn server. When he felt like home.
Somewhere, the moon gave off a satisfied tinkle, but he could not have given less of a fuck if he tried. He wasn’t doing this for her, he knew, as he shifted closer towards the body beside him.
He was doing this for himself.
Because Martyn was selfish and Ren was alive, alive, so devastatingly alive.

my personal introduction to 3rd life was very complex. it was like
started watching scott's pov the week of session 7. had not watched any of the others before and in fact actively avoided hc for some personal reasons
was quite intrigued by it. friend started watching martyn and i decided i'd maybe like to watch his pov too. and also grian purely and simply because of the enchanting table trap
watched scott's session 8 pov. still didn't really understand much about what was going on with the rest of the server but wow those flower husbands sure can sad. found out who won and watched grian's finale
started watching grian's hc7. bad associations with hc finally broken
decided to put hc7 on pause midway through and went and watched grian's 3rd life from the start. developed severe mental illness
Tumblr media Tumblr media
these tweets are one day apart.
and it's been downhill since then. mostly lots of pain because the hyperfixation only hit when i watched grian's pov and trafficblr was so quiet since it had been a week or two since 3rd life ended

“Melancholy” Series Part 6 - I Can’t / Chris Evans
Part 1 - “Oh, fuck them” ; Part 2 - “I’m here” ; Part 3 - “Just Try” ; Part 4 - “I Support You” ; Part 5 - “I Need Help”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After your first visit with the doctor you were in a mix of emotions. At first you had a really hard time to open up and be honest about what you were feeling. From time to time, you’d pull on your sleeps to hide your hands and even look back at the door. The feeling of wanting Chris to hug you never left you. When you needed to express your thoughts and feelings, you didn’t know where to start. There was so much going on in you. The therapist saw you were having trouble with talking,  how you kept apologizing for not saying much, but she reassured you that it was perfectly fine to not be able to fully express every feeling you were feeling, especially to someone you just met. As always Chris was right.
She never made you go to far, she let you take it at your own pace. Talked about work and friends, family. You felt comfortable with her, but still you wanted to be in a big hug. A hug only the man behind that closed wooden door could give you. She also noticed how you were looking back at the door, and asked you about it
“Do you have a feeling as if you want to run away?” you quickly shook your head, feeling bad that you made her think you wanted to run away “is it about the man behind the door?” you slowly nodded as a small smile spread  across your lips, “does he make you feel safe?” she really was a great doctor asking question and saying statements that hit the nail on the head.
“Yes,” you looked up at her “he doesn’t judge me for being like this” she nodded smiling herself.
“Good, because there’s nothing to judge. Everyone has mental health, just like everyone has health. In the course of a lifetime, not all people will experience a mental illness, but everyone will struggle or have a challenge with their mental well-being just like we all have challenges with our physical well-being from time to time. There’s nothing to be ashamed about or judged for” in your hour long appointment you felt like you didn’t talk much, but she told you it was okay. For your first time you had done a very good job. One thing she did say was that you felt more comfortable when you talked about Chris. She said that he clearly was your safe space and that it was good to have someone like that in your life, especially when you’re starting to see a therapist. Going to sessions could be really hard on some people. You were one of those people, you were scared but also proud of yourself for going. Setting up the next appointment wasn’t as scary as having the first.
You went back to see her the next week and it was much easier then the first time and just like Chris promised he took you there and supported you. He would give you the same hug the same smile, but the next time it would be bigger as if he was even prouder of you that you went back again and knowing you’d be going back the next week made him even happier. He saw how the first appointment helped you, how you felt better. There really was improvement, even though you did hope that maybe after that one time you’d be immediately back to the old you but that was a long shot. Nothing happened in life like you liked it, how you wished it. Things like mental health took a lot longer time, a lot more work and support from people around you. Chris was your best and only support system.
After your second appointment  Chris’s family was having a barbecue to which you were more then welcomed to. Actually his mom call Chris and specifically asked for you to be invited, she told him that she hadn’t seen you in a such a long time, and she missed you. He smiled hearing his mother say all that, Chris knew how she felt. The sad feeling of not seeing you, hearing your voice or laugh, but to him it was a hundred times harder to be away from you, to not see you all the time. Even thought the reason you two saw each other so often right now was quite sad, but very important, he was glad to be bale to talk to you and see you. Especially since now he saw you smile more, laugh more. You seemed to gain back your confidence and he couldn’t be more happier about that.
The Evans barbecue arrived and you were excited to see everyone especially Lisa. You had a lot to talk about to her, exchange recipes and just have a good laugh.
“Are you sure this is going to be enough?” you asked Chris over the phone, refusing to the cookies and salads you made for everyone.
“I told you, you didn’t have to bring anything at all, so it’s more then enough” you listened to him, and gave him a look that you knew he couldn’t see but couldn’t help yourself.
“You should know me better by now Chris. I’m not going to show up with empty hands, especially since I haven’t seen your family in a long time” while talking you kept looking at everything you were bringing, hoping it would be enough and that they would like it.
“I know you better then you think” you smiled at his response “are you sure you don’t me to pick you up? I already helped Scott set up everything, and can go” Chris, as always was being the biggest gentlemen, but you weren’t having any of it at the moment. He had to spend time with his family, since Chris was always around you and talking to you, he hadn’t seen them that much, making you feel guilty, but you kept reminding yourself that you never made Chris do what he did, your therapist told you to try and not be upset about things that weren’t really your fault. When ever I’d feel guilty she tell me to think back in the situation, did I ask for it, did I make someone do something. Or did the person offer it themselves or just do it without your asking. No matter how much you’d like for things to always be okay and work out, nothing works like that. There’s always going to be a little bit bad with good. In this case you had told Chris he didn’t have to always be with you, or answer your calls, but there was no point in telling him that, Chris wouldn’t listen.
“I’ll be fine Chris. Be with your family.” you were already putting things in your car “I’ll be there very soon. I’m pretty much on the rode already” everything was placed on the back seat and only then you saw that just maybe you had gone overboard with the foods,
“Okay, drive carefully. I can’t wait to see you” his words made your stomach flip. Even know when you were doing a lot better. So much better since Chris found you in that dark room, ready to give up, hearing him say that he wanted to see you made you happy, excited and very wanted. After telling him you couldn’t wait to see him to, you were on your way. There was much excitement in you, It had been a while since you felt like this. It could be the fun barbecue you were about to walk in with a family that were so loving and also could professionally work as comedians or the man that you knew would be standing outside is family home patiently waiting for your arrival. Ether way you enjoyed this feeling you were having
Just as you predicted driving up to the house Chris was sitting on the front porch, seeing your car coming closer Chris jumped up and waved, with a big smile on his lips, you couldn’t help but smile back at him. Your car hadn’t fully stopped yet when Chris was already opening your door and happily greeting you, he basically lifted you out of the car into his hug,
“How you doing?” he whispered in your ear, still holding you close, so close you could feel his fast heartbeat beating against yours.
“I’m good” you leaned back a bit to look in his eyes, so he could see you weren’t lying “I’m really good” Chris and you were just inches apart, not even a small animal could come between the two of you. For a split second you saw Chris look from your eyes to your lips, the quickly looked away when hearing his moms cheerful voice
“Let other people got that beautiful girl” she said running up and pulling you away from her son and into her loving embrace. She was just as good of a hugger as Chris, you could tell where he got his hugging skills. “i’m so happy to see you” she told you giving you cheek a kiss
“I’m happy to see you too Lisa. You look very beautiful” with a slight blush on her cheeks and a oh gosh. She was pulling you in the house, “oh wait I made something for everyone” you tried to walk back to the car, but Lisa wasn’t letting go off you
“it’s okay, Chris will get it. Right, son?” she gave him a sweet smile as she kept pulling you in
“Yes ma`am” Chris answered opening your car, mouthing him a quick I’m sorry and thank you, Lisa had you already pulled in the house loudly announcing your arrival. The quick attention from everyone in the house and in the back made you a bit uneasy. It had been a while since you saw everyone and having everyone look at you and talk to you almost everyone at the same time, scared you a bit. With a shaky voice you greeted everyone, some people wanted hugs, some just waved at you. Luckily Lisa soon pulled you in the kitchen right as Chris came in with al your food placing it on the table, he looked at you and saw the look in your eyes had changed
“Hey” you felt him put his palm on your shoulder “you okay?” looking up at him you nodded, but gave an honest answer
“just got a bit overwhelmed with the amount of people, all at once” Chris was mentally slapping himself for not warning you about how many people would be at the house.
“Sorry, I should have told you” Lisa was watching your interaction, feeling a bit worried. She didn’t what was going on but she knew there was something. Lisa was a mother with exhalent motherly senses when it came to someone not being well. She also noticed how his son was looking at you with the most concern and guilt in his eyes. She wasn’t a fool, Lisa saw how Chris was worried about you, especially in the last few weeks, how he’d always answer your call even when he was in a conversation of a topic he would never back down of. Lisa knew you had anxiety, and some things Chris had said made her thing something was wrong with, something had happened, but she wasn’t going to ask. If you wanted to talk about it, you’d tell her. The only time she’d ask you herself would be if you had no one to talk to, but you had Chris and as she was witnessing with her own eyes he was very good and caring to you.
First two hours you spent with Lisa in the kitchen placing foods on plats and talking about life. She had a lot to tell you and ask you. With every question Lisa asked, you felt her trying to get closer to a something she’s been avoiding. So you decided to get there for her. You trusted Lisa and knew she was just like Chris, nonjudgmental. Your therapist told you , to start trusting more people, people who you always felt like you could trust but your own fear kept you from being honest and open with them
“So I started to do something new” you started speaking, but didn’t look at her, “something I should have done a long time ago” Lisa stopped what she was doing, from your tone of voice she knew it wasn’t a new hobby you picked up, like painting and knitting. it was something a lot more serous, your lack of eye contact also gave that away. You found yourself in the same place, the same scared, unsure if you should bother her with such information.
“Honey, what is it? You can trust me” she said placing her hand on yours. She was right and you had to be honest about your life and what you were doing. There was nothing wrong in seeking help. So you told her, you told her about how horrible you had been feeling and how dark things had gotten. You did keep some details away from her, not wanting to upset her, make her sad. You also made sure to tell her that the only reason you are going to therapy is because of her sons amazing support and care. In the end Lisa teared up and embraced you, rubbing your back she said quietly “I’m proud of you honey” you cold feel that she was proud of you and it was an amazing feeling. To have someone say that, to be able to open up to another person, overcome your fears and it to pay off “this is good, this is really good” she said after pulling away from each other.
Wanting to keep up a good mood for the party you two changed the subject and Chris and Scott coming in laughing and joking around helped even more. As always those two goofballs were cracking up each other and everyone around them. Being around these kinds of people was good for you. To forget rest or the world and all the bad that was going on, being able to relax, enjoy yourself, have a good laugh. When around them you would laugh till your stomach would hurt. It had been a while since you laughed this much.
Some time later everyone went kind of scattered around the house and backyard. You were playing some games with Lisa’s grand babies, while some were still cooking some left over meat, some were inside watching tv. Chris was still sitting at the table enjoying the feeling of being at his childhood home, having his family around, peace. He smiled at his mom that had sat down in front of him, but his attention was quickly pulled away, when he heard your laugh. With a smile he looked at you, how you were playing with the kids and having the time of your life. You looked so care free, so happy. He loved seeing you like that.
“I’m very proud of you Chris” Lisa spoke getting his attention back. He smiled at her
“Thank you ma” he said sipping on his beer
“I’m not talking about your job” now he was a bit confused as to what could his mom be talking about. He didn’t think there was anything else in his life that could make her so proud “I’m proud that you are such a good man, such a good friend” Lisa looked at you, smiling “you were there for her when she thought she had no one. When she was ready to give up you pulled her out of the darkness showing her that there’s so much out there to live for” she looked at Chris who was now looking only at you. She could tell he was thinking back at everything that had happened leading up to this “you did good son. Look how happy she is. You saved her life” Lisa stood up, went around the table, hugged him and kissed the top of his head. Still holding they two watched you play with kids, then look up and wave at them
“You gonna come join us?” you asked looking at Chris, without hesitation he left his beer behind and joined you all. Rest of the day you all played games, talked and just had a great time but as always the day had to come to an end. Lisa packed you some leftovers and helped put them in your car as you talked about few more things you two hadn’t discussed. Chris was already by your car, patiently waiting. He wasn’t going with you, he was waiting for his turn to get your attention.
“Well thank you honey for coming over” Lisa said hugging you goodbye, you thanked her and turned to Chris,
“Is it my turn to hug you now? or did my family take all the hugs you had?” he joked walking closer to you
“You know I always have a hug for you” closing the distance you wrapped your arms around him, Chris pulled you closer, he held you tight, resting his head on yours. It felt as if nether one of you wanted to let go and it was true you didn’t want to let go of him. You loved hugging him, if someone asked you to chose eating your all time favorite meal or hugging Chris, without hesitation you’d hug Chris. Eventually you had to let go of him. Both, him and Lisa, watched you get in your car and drive off. The whole time that all was happening Lisa watched her son. She watched him hug you and breath in your sent, she watched him get sad when letting go of you, but Chris kept the smile on his lips, she watched how that smile he had on fell the moment you drove off and couldn’t be seen anymore. He sighed lowering his head. She waited for Chris to say something or to turn around and walk in the house, but he just stood there
“What’s wrong? She told you she’ll text you when she gets home” Lisa said even though she knew that wasn’t the reason her son got so sad. He had just spent a whole day with you, laughing, hugging, playing games with the kids,  in everyone's eyes looking like a couple, now he had to watch you leave and come back to reality
“I love her ma” Chris confessed looking at her by his side. There were so many emotions in that man, Lisa could see it all in his eyes
“Then tell her,” he shook his head. If only it was that easy. If only he could do that.
“I can’t. I can’t pile more emotions and new twists on her. Not now” Chris sighed turning to his mom “I can’t be selfish. I can’t tell her that I’ve loved her since the first time I saw her “Chris was ranting now, close to yelling “I can't tell her that, no matter how much I want, because it's not fair on her.” Chris sighed, looked at the rode you had just gone down. “I can’t lose  her. I want her to be happy and I don’t care how it happens, by me being her good friend or boyfriend. She needs to be happy, she deserves to be happy” he finished talking, started to walk to the house when Lisa spoke up
“And you don’t? “ he looked back at her “you don’t deserve to be happy? And telling her that you love her could help her more. Being there for her in a new way could do so much good, to her and you” Lisa walked and stop in front of Chris “Don’t deprive yourself from happiness and love. And I’ve seen how the girl looks at you and hugs you. She feels the same way” Lisa knew her son was about to protest and say she was seeing things, so she walked away leaving him there alone in his thoughts. Thoughts about you. Maybe his mom was right, maybe you loved him too and you cold make each other happy, but he knew it wasn’t the right time to find out.
You had just started therapy, you had just started to get pack on track and him reveling his feeling could push you off the track, make you confused. Chris wanted you to concentrate on your mental health, not a new relationship. So he’ll just keep it in, be there for you as a friend and help you be happy, he was even ready to accept the fact that one day if another man showed up one day and he was making you happy, he’d  support it and step back. Even if it would break his heart, seeing you happy was all he wanted even if he wasn’t the one making you happy anymore.

Minerva (Bit 1)
Tumblr media
Okay, this fic is an attempt to get my mojo back. Every time I go on holiday it gets sideswiped. Being sick definitely did not help, though admittedly coughing all night last night may have made me my usual sleep deprived self, so who knows, it might have helped :D
But anyway, This fic is Kermadec because I needed a boat :D It also required a little research - Minerva Reef is a pair of actual atolls not far from Tracy Island. I’m not sure of the distance so I fluffed it.
Andre and Cecil are a pair of private nurses first mentioned in Gentle Rain. I like to recycle my OCs but I haven’t read that story in ages. Here’s hoping I’ve kept them true to form. They haven’t been sketched out in this much detail before, in any case.
There is fluff. I broke Virg again, oops, but there is resultant fluff. I’m sick, I can’t help myself.
Many thanks to @scribbles97 and @vegetacide for the read throughs and support. I haven’t forgotten about The Tattoo, I just needed a little self indulgence first.
This bit is mainly set up and I hope to write more asap. 1726 words.
I hope you enjoy it.
-o-o-o-
Two broken legs.
If there was anything worse than a broken limb, it was more than one and two broken legs was the worst.
Or two broken arms. He wasn’t sure as he hadn’t managed to break two arms as yet. But two broken legs definitely sucked.
Of course, it was worth it. Saving children was always worth it. But weeks of confinement, of being unable to do anything for himself, was about to send him around the bend, out the window and into the Pacific.
His brothers did their best and both Andre and Cecil, the family nursing staff - yes, they had enough injuries on enough of a regular basis to have nursing staff on their payroll -  had been called in on this one to cart him back and forth across the house, see to his necessaries, and pretty much do his bidding.
Which was fine, since he and Andre got on like a house on fire. The man spoke both paint and piano almost as much as Virgil and there had been fun times, despite his infirmities.
Cecil was a Gordon clone and those two got up to much more mischief than was really acceptable for an employee. But since Gordon usually took all the credit, even the time Scott had his eyebrows shaved, they got away with hell.
Besides, Scott’s eyebrows had been partly burnt off already and had looked stupid, so shaving them both off was an improvement that had to be done. How Gordon had managed it, Virgil didn’t have a clue...and also didn’t want to think too hard about it because it gave his rapscallion little brother powers that he really shouldn’t have.
Cecil played it straight and the Tracys put up with it. Because despite Cecil’s idiosyncrasies, the two nurses were very, very good at their jobs.
That and they came as a pair because Andre and Cecil were married.
So, other than expanding Gordon’s power of pranking, things were good. Well, as good as they could be while he had two broken legs.
But there were days.
God, were there days.
Days, so many days, and today was one of them.
Scott had been called out early in the morning and consequently everyone was up. Alan was called next and he and Kayo were out dealing with yet another space freighter collision. Scott was going to kick some space agency ass about updating some space etiquette rules in the near future to stop this stupidity from happening, and considering how much profanity was bouncing down from orbit, both John and Alan would be there to back him up.
So three brothers were out, leaving Virgil imprisoned with Gordon, Andre, Cecil and Grandma. This combination wouldn’t normally be an issue, but Grandma was cooking up a storm and Virgil was trapped.
Gordon may be a pain at times, but he saw the hazard coming and he was a good brother at heart. So, with some assistance from Andre and Cecil, the Fish deployed his yacht, A Little Lightning, and suddenly the day seemed so much brighter.
Virgil was ensconced in pillows and the best of comfort on the back deck and had the privilege of watching Mateo pass on their starboard side as Gordon guided the yacht out into the open ocean.
Why he seemed to always be injured when aboard this boat, he had no idea, but Gordon was a life saver.
Virgil had no idea where his brother might be taking him and he didn’t really care. He just lay back and enjoyed a beautiful day, the breeze, the many sounds of water and the gentle bounce of the boat.
At some point he dozed off.
It had to be a sign of how much healing his body needed, but somehow he managed to sleep the entire trip, because it was the sudden change in the engine noise that woke him.
Andre was smiling at him in that soft caring way he had about him. Dark hair, blue eyes and a soft smile, the nurse was somewhat reminiscent of his big brother, but without the fire and the drive. The man was quiet and reassuring, exactly what was needed when ill or injured.
“It looks like you needed that.”
Virgil grunted, never a fan of waking up.
But Andre knew this and had exactly what the injured engineer needed - a mug of steaming coffee.
Virgil forced the last few steps to full consciousness, and, pushing himself up, made a grab for the mug.
The mug moved away. “Uh-uh, stretch first.”
Shit.
It was a thing Andre made him do every time he woke. Before coffee, he had to stretch abused muscles that were forced to sleep in awkward positions due to his legs.
Virgil mumbled and grumbled, but did as he was bid. He knew how important the exercises were, but the lure of coffee was just cruel. He vaguely noted the yacht’s engine dropping to a slow cruise and the open ocean having just that touch more sway, rolling the yacht in the swell.
“Where are we?”
“Cecil says we’re visiting Minerva.”
“Oh.” Virgil blinked. He’d flown over the Minerva Reefs many, many times. They were a navigation marker not that far from Tracy Island. Though they were far enough away for him to have been asleep for some time. “How long was I out?”
That smile again. “Several hours. Did you good.” The nurse had placed the coffee on a side table and was helping Virgil sit up straight enough to consume the taunting liquid from heaven.
A breathless moment and the mug was in his hands and coffee was pouring down his throat. God, Andre made great coffee. Yet another reason to put up with his husband.
He surfaced at some point and managed a thank you that set the nurse grinning just as a coral reef started to drift past.
Virgil didn’t know much about the Minerva Reefs other than Melissa Fisher on Raoul swore about them..alot.
They were on the very edge of the Kermadec Ocean Sanctuary and she had wanted to add them to the exclusion zone for a very long time. But the reefs were owned by Tonga or Fiji, depending on which country you spoke to and the environment continued to suffer from it.
He vaguely remembered Gordon saying something about visiting the reefs in Four on several occasions and Virgil had no doubt that he and Melissa were likely doing some kind of sneaky ecological monitoring or some such. After all, the reefs were rather close to Tracy Island and Gordon rather passionate about such things.
As A Little Lightning cruised between two reef headlands, Virgil surmised they were at the northern of the two atolls.
As Virgil guzzled the last of his coffee, the yacht came to a complete halt in the lee of one of the headlands - if you could call it that, the reef barely made it above the water line. He heard the sea anchor deployed and there was suddenly silence except for the crashing of waves against coral and sand and the breeze.
Virgil closed his eyes and soaked it in.
The empty mug was tugged gently from his hand and he vaguely registered a plate being placed on the table beside him. “Cecil made pie.”
That snapped him out of it. “Pie?” The prankster could cook and he was suddenly assaulted with a delicious aroma.
“Steak and bacon, topped with mashed potato and cheese.” The plate had a generous serving along with salad piled up beside it. Andre was grinning at his expression. “He’s mine, you can’t have him.”
Virgil had to grin. “Well, at least I know one of the reasons why you nabbed him.”
Andre’s grin softened, but it was still a grin. “In the top five.” A hand landed on Virgil’s shoulder. “Eat up, you’ll need it for this afternoon’s workout.”
That deflated him a little.
The nurse noted what must have been in his expression. “Okay, perhaps it can be a brief session today.” A shrug. “After all, an atoll is hardly a swimming pool.”
“Virg trying to con you out of rehab?” Gordon bounced onto the deck, a grin on his face and that look of absolute relaxation the man got whenever he was out on the water.
“‘S not rehab.” So Virgil was pouting and acting like a child. “It’s maintenance.” Of what still worked, until the casts came off and then the hell would really start.
“Don’t let those baby browns lure you from the path of righteousness, Andre.”
“What? Like you attempted last time?” The nurse was grinning at the aquanaut.
That brought Gordon up short.
“I have to say that your eyes are a lighter brown, not quite the same colour, but the manoeuvring is almost identical.”
“What?” It was a two Tracy chorus shot at Andre with two brows, one dark, one light, shooting daggers at the nurse.
Andre just laughed and turned back to Virgil. “You going to eat your pie?”
The nurse’s blue eyes did some manoeuvring of their own and Virgil found himself snatching up the plate and hovering over it to protect his slice of pie.
Cecil chose that moment to appear. As usual, there was never a laugh far behind him as he was wearing a bright pink chef’s cap canted at an angle. But it was the two plates of pie in his hands that drew the attention of the other two men on deck.
Gordon didn’t hesitate, grabbing his plate and shovelling pie down his throat with barely a thank you. Virgil growled in his direction.
“What? It’s good pie. Cecil knows I appreciate him, don’t you, Cecil?”
But the cook was accepting a gentle kiss from his husband as the man took his plate, his other hand drifting from Cecil’s shoulder, down to the small of his back in a gesture simple but intimate enough for Virgil to turn away to give them privacy.
His eyes landed on Gordon, who’s face had an odd expression as he looked back at Virgil, as if he knew something that Virgil didn’t.
Virgil glared at him.
It, no doubt, had something to do with Kay. He would slap his little bro about the head later.
In the meantime...”So, what are we doing here?”

Shawn Michaels: The Showstopper Unreleased
Tumblr media
WWE has release a few Shawn Michaels DVDs over the years, but continuing on the theme of my last few wrestling-centered entries, WWE Home Video stuck with their “unreleased” brand of DVDs in 2018 with the three-disc release of Shawn Michaels: The Showstopper Unreleased (intro - I could not locate a trailer for this anywhere!). In that clip Shawn quips that the producers deserve an award for finding previously unreleased matches. I believe the criteria for this release is still similar to previous “Unreleased” collections where they may have aired on television (and thus likely in the WWE Network archives) or long discontinued VHS tapes, but this DVD will mark the first time the matches are available on disc. Also included is a new interview with Michaels that they broke up in several parts and sporadically inserted throughout the collection. The first disc is something special as it essentially is a “Best of Rockers” DVD. The first two matches are from Shawn’s rookie year in 1985 for Mid-South in quick enhancement matches for Hector & Chavo Guerrero and Jake “The Snake” Roberts. Matches serve their purpose, but it is nonetheless fascinating to see how Shawn had that already apparent potential in him way back in 1985. The remaining 11 matches on the first disc are all Rockers matches, with the first three tag matches being from their Midnight Rockers AWA days with two bouts against Doug Summers & Buddy Rose and one more with Brian Knobbs & Dennis “I’m not booked” Stamp. The two Summers & Rose matches are show-stealers that had exhilarating beginning/middle/end structures, and was fun to watch the 1980s crowd go nuts for.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first disc is almost all AWA & WWF Rockers matches!! For the eight WWF Rockers matches, they consist of almost an all-star lineup of a golden age for WWF tag teams where they square off against the likes of Demolition, Brain Busters, Hart Foundation, Natural Disasters and Legion of Doom. The sad thing about The Rockers back then is that as charismatic and agile as they were back then, they mostly made other teams look good in their WWF run and that is the case here as they lose six of those eight WWF matches. Even worse is the two matches they win is a DQ win against the Rougeaus after Jimmy Hart’s megaphone is used, and a countout win against the Orient Express. That said, a lot of the other matches are pretty damn good, with high honors going to the Brain Busters bout, two Demolition matches and surprisingly working in a lot of good stuff against Legion of Doom. Worth pointing out is another good match against the Hart Foundation where it seems noticeable the teams missed their cue to go home because the match starts to feel there is no end in sight when out of nowhere during an abdominal stretch a bunch of wrestlers run in and an awkward impromptu brawl ensues and the match is declared a draw.
Tumblr media
Disc two has 12 matches from Shawn’s first singles WWF run from 1992-1998. Some highlights from this are an unsurprising technical showcase with Mr. Perfect, oddly having a positive dynamic with Bret Hart to team up against the Blu Brothers in 1995 and predictable-yet-high quality formula matches during his first WWF Title run against 1-2-3 Kid and Steve Austin. Disc two has a disappointing triple tag elimination match with Shawn, Diesel and Undertaker against Psycho Sid, Tatanka and Kama filled with lots of stalling and headscratching booking for the eliminations. There is also a questionable match against Vader a month after their controversial-yet-excellent Summerslam match, where in this match Shawn takes 95% of the offense and quickly squashes Vader in three minutes. There is also a fascinating bout against Yokozuna from the summer of 1996 in Kuwait, when Yoko is nearing the end of his WWF run due to him putting on excess weight, and the match kind of expectedly plods along, until something must have clicked for Shawn to motivate Yoko into a pretty watchable match in the back half, and the two show respect afterwards which was awesome to see….until Yoko suddenly darts off to the back like he really has to go to the bathroom. The third disc consists of 10 matches from Shawn’s return run to WWE from 2002-2010. All the matches here are from RAW, so that means they follow the formula that still holds true for WWE TV main events today where it is either a cobbled together tag match, or a really good one-on-one match with interference or a hokey finish. There are a couple exceptions with worthwhile clean matches against Ric Flair during a Japan 2005 tour and against Christian in 2004 when he was building momentum with Tyson Tomko by his side. HBK’s matches against Rob Van Dam, Kurt Angle and Chris Jericho are the highlights on disc three, but all three contests have varying degrees of interference to effect the finishes, and in some cases it actually benefits the match as is the case with Angle with the story they were telling. I was delighted to see a post-RAW dark match included with Shawn teaming with Batista against Triple H and Edge. WWE is notorious for usually doing a fun untelevised promo or bonus match for the fans after the cameras go off the air with some quirky moments that would never fly in a televised match. That is the case here with Triple H doing lots of exaggerated selling and fun jawing with the crowd that absolutely ate it all up for a fun time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shawn didn't disappoint in his 21st century run, with matches included here that don't disappoint against Ric Flair and Kurt Angle. A couple of promos are uncovered like Shawn doing an open Q&A with the fans when Sensational Sherri was managing Michaels early in his singles run. Another amusing bonus promo is Shawn and Diesel doing a Times Square workout session to hype up their upcoming WrestleMania 11 match with the one-and-only Todd Pentigill hosting. The several interview clips inserted throughout the DVDs has Shawn hitting on certain parts on where he was at that stage in his career and reflecting on the infamous Barber Shop break-up with Marty, his 2002 return, rebooting a less edgy, more goofball version of DX in 2006 and retiring in 2010 (this was filmed before his ill-fated Saudi Arabia return match). From these series of introspections, it was fascinating to hear Shawn think back on why he was not all-in for teaming with Jose Lathario in his WWE Title run, and hearing him settling on being a family man in retirement and turning down multiple
Tumblr media
WrestleMania return matches. There are also a few sets of interviews with NXT talent commenting on how lucky they are to have Shawn as a teacher at the WWE Performance Center. Shawn comments a few times here too on being proud of passing on his knowledge, and it is obvious he is genuine on his passion for his new role building talent in NXT. WWE has once again amassed another recommended collection of un-vaulted matches. I am digging this format following the Piper and Macho Man sets where they break up the action every few matches with a set of interviews. Wort mentioning is about a quarter of the 35 matches here have no commentary because they were either dark matches, or from arena shows WWE use to film at regionally in the 80s and 90s and never recorded commentary for and/or lost the rights for the commentary. While there are some skippable matches, the good-to-bad ratio is largely in the positive here, and the not-so-good bouts usually at least have an entertaining backstory or era they emanate from. This all adds up for Shawn Michaels: The Showstopper Unreleased being another must-have installment of the Unreleased branding. Jay Conner (00:02): Alright, Scott! It looks like we are live streaming right now. So come on up here up front Scott and join me for a moment and we'll hang out before we officially start. So what's going on in Metagene Columbia right now?
Scott Paton (00:23): Well, it's another beautiful day. We're having a, it's, we're excited because in a few days the quarantine is over and it will be replaced by who knows what it's not going to be like everybody opening up and dancing and sightseeing, and eating and drinking like they did before. But it's easing off, which is really good. We're very fortunate here compared to Peru and Ecuador, and certainly Brazil in that we've had a lot lower number of people who have died and a lot lower number of people who have been sick. So they're a little concerned that if they open it up too fast, everyone will be, will get ill. But I'm suspecting if we've been pretty much alone for a month and a half or two months to the corona virus has done its thing and it's time to get out and get some fresh air and be out in the mountains. So...
Jay Conner (01:13): Yeah. Well, my lands! I've heard you say over the last few weeks that they don't let you go outside for one hour a day.
Scott Paton (01:22): Only one hour a day. Two to three, and you have to be under 60 years old. So I've cheated on that one. But I don't get away with it because I look 25. So...
Jay Conner (01:34): You definitely look less than 60 that's for sure. I was going to say, though, they like to do different hours for different. Like, if your name ends in a P like Paton, you got a certain hour, you go out or they just let the whole world up for an hour.
Scott Paton (01:48): Well, isn't that weird, right? The whole world comes out from an hour. Now they pick two to three, which is the hottest time. So most people don't want to go out and you have one day a week where we're based on the last number of your like driver's license. You can go shopping in the big stores, but the little shops like around me, they are just happy to see me. They don't care what they have of the week. It is. And so it's kind of a little bit loosey goosey that way,
Jay Conner (02:14): Mercy. So if you're just now coming into the live stream, go ahead and type in the comments section and let us know what's, where you are tuning in from. Cause we always like to know. And I got a really special guest that I'm going to be introducing to you in just a moment. But before I do, I want to let everybody know what we've got going on for the next two Fridays, I've got two free trainings. And you can go learn all about it. And these are actually free. This coming Friday, May 29th. And then again on June 5th, Friday, you can go to www.JayConner.com/fortune. And one, we'll be talking about the next two Fridays, this coming Friday, it's going to be a position or teaching you the 30,000 foot view of my foreclosure system, how it is that we you know, locate foreclosures before other real estate investors know about them.
Jay Conner (03:19): And as pertains to COVID-19 I had to learn how to do this virtually. So again, that's 9:00 AM Eastern to 5:00 PM Eastern, this coming Friday. And then again on June 5th I call it, I'm gonna be teaching how to get what I call free private money. And that is of course you all know I'm known as the private money authority, but how you can actually get your deals funded without even having to raise private money. So again, you can go over to JayConner.com/fortune and learn. And get registered. Okay. Get registered to attend for these two upcoming Fridays.
Scott Paton (04:04): So Jay I just want to cut you off just for a second, and just say that we had our first Friday last Friday, it was awesome. We had over 2,500 attendees for the, throughout the eight hours. Pretty amazing. And when you go to JayConner.com/fortune at Jay is talking about private money, he's the private money authority last Friday. And I put the embed of that full eight hours of training on that same page. So you can watch it, whether you register or not. But if you want to see the next step, like these all fit together very nicely, then make sure you go, you register, see what happened last week, and then you'll be prepared, really prepared for what's going to happen this coming Friday. And we're really excited about what we're going to be sharing with you.
Jay Conner (04:50): And there is Dan! Hello, Dan Mewhorter. A mastermind member. Jay, these free sessions are incredible packed full of content. Anyone enters through the learning how to get into real estate investing or need to up their game need to be on this. Awesome. Dan! Thank you for the shout out. Alright, well, Scott, I'm ready to officially start this show and podcast. How about that?
Scott Paton (05:16): Alright, here we go.
Jay Conner (05:17): Alright. I'm going to give you three seconds of silence and here we go.
Jay Conner (05:31): Well, hello everybody. And welcome to another episode of real estate investing with Jay Conner. I'm your host, Jay Conner. Known as the private money authority. And I'm just so glad you're here. So you may be viewing live on the stream yard right now, or you may be listening to our podcast. It's on iTunes and Google play. Or you may be watching on YouTube or et cetera. Regardless as to whether you're watching or listening live, or you are listening or watching the replay, we're glad you're here. And, you know, we launched my podcast, we've launched the show. My lands! It was June, 2018. I can't believe that much time has gone by. Anyway, we have another show today and I've got a very special guest we're in a high end mastermind meeting together, and his name is Jim Sheils. Let me tell you a little bit about Jim and then we're going to bring him in from the green room.
Jay Conner (06:27): So Jim has been a full time real estate investor all the way back since 1999. So Jim's been doing it longer than me. I went full time in 2003 and Jim's ventures have done over 1000 acquisitions and rehabs. That's a lot of properties. So, getting a star in the Bakersfield, California, a left there in 2005, headed over to Northeast Florida. That's where he is now. So thought of the longterm growth patterns that were predicted for that area. So after 2008, and of course it was your recall. It was because of 2008 and 2009. That's how I became known as the private money authority. I was cut off from the banks and learn how to get a lot of private money fast. Nonetheless, after 2008 Jim's company did a bulk of foreclosure properties until switching their model to new construction, to adapt to the changing market conditions and needs.
Jay Conner (07:29): So Jim, forming a very dynamic of building partnership called Jack's wealth investments. They now focus on catering to investors in single family and small multiunit development in Jacksonville, Ocala, Palm coast and Atlanta, Georgia as well. Now, the big reason that I've got Jim here on the show today is because he runs a family education company called 18 summers. And I can't wait to hear the story behind him naming it that. But what this education company does it specialize in talks, workshops and retreats for entrepreneur families. They all, Jim also wrote his bestselling book titled the family board meeting that went to number one and categories of relationships, parenting and entrepreneurship. So Jim is an expert in training and teaching on how to have balance in your life and in your business. In addition to that, Jim is also an avid surfer. Andrew was traveling with his family, particularly when we come out of COVID-19, the travel will be turned back on and especially loves traveling with his beautiful wife, Jamie. And their four children. So anyway, what an adventurous guy and Jim's greatest adventure today was donating a kidney to the greatest guy on this planet from his perspective. And that of course, was his father. So with that, Jim, welcome to the show.
Jim Sheils (09:06): Hey Jay, good to see you! Good to be here,
Jay Conner (09:09): Great to see you fellow CG member. Great to have you here on the show, Jim. So I'm just so excited to have this conversation with you about balancing life, balancing business, and to learn more about your workshops and your, and your retreats that you do. But I gave, I gave the folks part of your background, but you started back in 1999. How did you start? What got you into it?
Jim Sheils (09:35): Yeah, I had always wanted to do something on my own and like most entrepreneurs, I started delving into everything from franchises to other business opportunities and I kept falling back on real estate and I like the tangibility of it. It made sense to me, you know, how to, how to take something and pull the levers to add cash flow, to add equity. That made sense. And so I just slowly started going into real estate investments out in central California, where it was where, Bakersfield, California was the blood of Johnny Carson's jokes for years, but it was an investor's playground where property started at 40 to $50,000, which is a lot better than you know, Santa Barbara County to two hours over the medium price is 900,000. So I just I had always had, yeah, it was crazy, crazy, crazy. So, yeah, that's how I got my start. I knew I wanted to do something on my own. I just started getting training in real estate and pulling the trigger, you know, and I always joke, what's your, what's the best real estate class you ever took? And I say 432 North M street. That was the first property I ever bought 21 years ago. So that was my best lesson ever.
Jay Conner (10:49): Wow! That's an amazing story. So, in your introduction that I was sharing with folks you did like over a thousand acquisitions and rehabs and et cetera, but what was it that caused you to switch over to your new model and tell everybody more about what your new model is?
Jim Sheils (11:12): Yeah, well, I guess I always wore that badge on my shoulder, right? I'm a rehabber! I'm a rehabber! And you know, it's tough to teach the old dog new tricks and I was the old dog by then. You got used to something and we did really well coming out of 2008 here, you know, when there was all that bank inventory, we got really good at finding foreclosures and renovating them and putting them in our own portfolio or working with other investors to build theirs. And the problem was Jay, about five years ago, man, those numbers started to change. You know, they were getting bid up. The numbers weren't making sense. You'd have to cut corners if you really want to make the numbers work. And I don't like to cut corners. So my now building partner who I had done deals with before said, you know, we should try some new construction.
Jim Sheils (11:59): And that was almost like, wow! What are you saying? Don't, Those are, that's a terrible word. We're rehabbers. And sure enough, it was the right thing to do because we weren't able to find old house inventory anymore where the numbers worked, but although new construction, so we basically do build a rent. Now we build new construction homes that are designed just for investment property and we focused on single family, duplexes and quads. But what we've been able to find is better inventory. It takes longer, there's more effort to it, Jay, you know, so we had to, you know, learn some new muscles with developing and zoning and longer timeframes, but overall for ourselves and our clients, it's more predictable, better areas, better properties, better longevity just a stronger overall investment. So it's, it was a big jump five years ago, but I'm really glad to the point now where I used to have that big rehab badge on my shoulder. I refuse to do rehabs anymore. I just won't do. I've just completely switched over to the other side.
Jay Conner (12:59): Okay. Excellent. Excellent. Well, let's dive right on in to 18 summers. And what that is? How you got the name? And why you started doing it?
Jim Sheils (13:14): Yeah. So 18 summers was a lesson that a mentor of mine taught me. I first started doing family talks and I had written my book, you know, a bunch of years ago. And he said to me, Jim, you're really onto something because there's so much out there that's available for the entrepreneur to grow their business, but not to keep their family intact. And what I always wanted to see, and I saw this at a young age, I got, I was able to get on stages at a young age at different events. Cause I had some success in real estate, but I saw some people who were highly successful in business and they were completely failing at home. And frankly Jay, that scared me. I didn't want that to be me. So this was out of my own necessity and need to make sure that I stayed in that success in business and success at home combination.
Jim Sheils (13:58): And so my mentor was talking about that and he said, look, the years are not all created equal. You've got 18 summers. And he's like, and I looked it up. The stats show 85% of quality time people. The average person ever gets with their family. Their children occurs by the end of the 18th summer because then they start to go off and the amount of timeframe goes down and that just gave me a positive motivation. And now when I went into my talks and workshops that gave the same positive motivation to others, how do we make the most of that time without taking away ambition? Cause I'm very ambitious, you know, being an entrepreneur, but I want to have that double success, Jay success in work and success at home. So 18 summers became, I believe the only family education outlet designed specifically for entrepreneur families to make sure that you can have the best of both worlds.
Jay Conner (14:46): I got you. That's fantastic. So let me let you put on your training hat on your coaching hat right now and share with our audience, what are some of the strategies that you, that you teach and train at your workshops on how to achieve that kind of balance.
Jim Sheils (15:12): Sure. Let's go through a couple of principles that I think will stick with people. One of the best compliments I get is what we teach is very, stickable, it's easy to understand, easy to buy into, easy to apply and see results. So let's give a couple of those today. You know, going through our world changed as you know, Jay post COVID, you know, it's, everything got brought home work, family school, you know, everything's happening from home. So couple of things came into life. And one of the things is the importance that you have in the position of your family, of setting the leadership tone, you know, focus, breeds, increase, and people were talking about toddler meltdowns and teen grumpiness. Can those things be eliminated? No, but they can be minimized. And I believe a lot of it has to do with how are you handling your self in front of your family?
Jim Sheils (16:02): You are setting the tone. And sometimes we forget that. That it's, that trickle down effect. And so I always try to remind people what tone are you setting at home? You know what tone are you setting? And one of the worst tones that you can set when you're having a bad business deal, when everyone's pulled up onto the sidelines, by something like a COVID-19 is, do you have the awareness to step back and say, Hey, this is not my family's fault. Now, a lot of people don't even think about that, but that's really important because you get wrapped up in a deal going wrong, or you're taking a call in your living room, which you shouldn't be, you should be separated and your kids act like a kid and yell and you get upset, you know, or you say, well, no, I'm not taking it out on them.
Jim Sheils (16:47): But when you stop and think, if we're showing shortness, anxiety, a little bitterness and our family's feeling the brunt, and it has something to do with business and not them, that's not a good tone to set. We got to remember, it's not our family's fault when these big things happen. And also we set the leadership tone. And if we can show ourselves to be stronger leaders, more calm, more playful, more not, I'm not saying overly optimistic, you know, like purple, you know, the Rose colored glasses, but that sets a tone that will trickle down to your spouse and children. So one of the most important jobs is as the leaders, that...
Jay Conner (17:25): What I love about that principle and I'm glad you call that principle because what you just said is so foundational. What I love about it, it reminds me of a Jack Canfield's very first principle in his book, success principles, which is, I am 100% responsible. Right? And what you just went over is you are bringing to light there that what we're experiencing in our home life is a manifestation of us. That's excellent. Excellent! Very foundational.
Jim Sheils (18:07): Then it gets us back to the foundation back to the core. And that's really important, especially when you're thrown into a bunch of deals or you're thrown into a pandemic, we all get shook up. So then we have to breathe in and reground our feet. And that's one of the best things to remember. I set the tone. And I'm not going to set it perfectly, but the better I set it, the better things are going to be. So that's a big one. A second one Jay, that I love is, we all heard about in COVID again, not to keep going back to COVID COVID about social distancing, right? That's I get it. That's, that made sense. But what about tech distancing? The principle of tech distancing, Jay is absolutely essential right now essential. And it's got two parts to it. First, if your home don't be worked puking in your living room.
Jim Sheils (18:58): So let's say you're standing there, your family's having a great family moment that buzz in your pocket happens with a text where you're taking a phone call. And then all of a sudden you're getting heated in front of them, or you get off the phone and you're standing there with a scalp because something didn't go right. You've now just mixed over the lines. And that's just not fair. It's your, we call it half in parenting. You're trying to be part of the family. Take the tough work call and especially through pandemic or something. They might have been some pretty heavy conversations and maybe it's not something our younger kids needed to hear. I always say first step in tech distancing is you gotta distance yourself from your family to take calls, emails, and then before you step in and take a few deep breaths, and then you go back again.
Jim Sheils (19:42): But I can tell you the day two of the pandemic, Jay, I was helping someone who was in a bad real estate way. And they were in commercial. They had a bunch of lease stores. It was heavy. And I was feeling like they're getting taken advantage of, and I was, I was passionate. I cared about this person and their deal. Well, I'm texting, I'd put the thing away. And I'm kind of talking to myself like the crazy entrepreneur I am. My little five-year-old standing in front of me. And she goes, daddy, why are you so mad at me?
Jim Sheils (20:08): I didn't even see her standing there. And so it's like, wow! Again, talking about setting the leadership tone. I said, there's a time and a place for these calls. And it's not right in the kitchen with my kids around me. So the first step of tech distancing have a time and a place. Whether if you couldn't get to your office, I don't care if it's a closet or your car, we're going to take those emails. You're going to take those calls. You're going to find a quiet place. Even though I have four loud kids to do a podcast, right? So that we can talk and we can do this. And then the second side of tech distancing, Jay, is you have to have times of being completely and totally unavailable to work, to be with the people in front of you.
Jim Sheils (20:44): If you're always snagging that text or that Facebook thread or that call or email, you'll never truly be present. You'll always be getting pulled out of things and then you'll be going, geez, we don't really seem that connected. And we've all tried that where we fake, like we're listening to our spouse or one of our children. And they notice, we think maybe they didn't notice that we didn't hear what the hell they said, but it just sets a really bad tone. So you gotta have times where you're completely and totally unavailable. Shut off. We do a shut off every day at our house, Jay 5:30 to 7:30. It is the tech fast tech distancing. There's no phone, no laptop, no TV. Everyone is just, we're not sitting there staring at each other, but all tech is off. So that way, you know, the people right in front of us. So the conversation can flow without an interruption.
Jay Conner (21:34): That is an excellent suggestion. I mean, what I do to where I'm not even tempted to, you know, respond to this, right? I can put it in another room. Where I can't see it. I can't hear it vibrate. And I love this again, principle that you're sharing and it, you were explaining it. It reminds me of a mentor that I had decades ago. And he used to tell me all the time. He said, Jay, wherever you are, be there!
Jim Sheils (22:15): I'll tell you real estate investors. We wear this badge. Like I'm always available. I gotta work this deal. Almost anything can wait two hours. Almost anything. And there is nothing more rude. We say, well, we got to provide, we've got to protect. We've got to get the deal through. I get it. I've been a real estate investor 20 years. But to jump up from the dinner table for a mundane detail is setting a really bad example for what matters most. And for, would you want your kids doing that down the road? The answer is probably no. So a little bit...
Jay Conner (22:49): Again, you're setting the example. I love it.
Jim Sheils (22:53): Exactly. It'll go down. It's tech distancing is a very powerful and simple. When people think about it, it's okay to turn off and recharge. Even as a real estate investor, you know, a one hour a day can do wonders if you're doing it during the things during, during certain hours where you're around your family, you'll start to see, wow, we're having a deeper conversation. I actually am seeing things I'm actually listening. This is incredible. But even if that phone just on, you're waiting for that "zzt-zzt", you know, in that pocket, your brain goes out the window. So practice tech distancing, Jay, it works huge. Another thing that's really important right now, especially this is good. Especially you being the private money guy, you know, non QM money went away.
Jim Sheils (23:33): You know what I mean? There's lots of stuff that's changed. I believe certain real estate is going to do phenomenal. Others are going to be challenged, but Jay, if I learned anything in 2008 and we survived 2008, we were heavily invested in California, in Florida at the time, that was not a pretty sight to go through 2008. You know, values dropped 60% wrench dropped 40% a totally different time. And I'm more excited now, obviously then I wasn't no wait, but let me tell you, Jay, there's two things people have to look for right now. This is going to be good for real estate investors. You should get support, but there's two types of support out there. There's moral support and there's technical support. Now in 2008, I would take as much moral support as I could get. You should be given some of your friends and family coming through the pandemic or a challenge, moral support, but you might not be in the position to give technical support.
Jim Sheils (24:24): And there's a big difference. I remember in '08, people were wanting to help me, you know, through the real estate things. They wanted to give me technical support and they weren't really in the position to do so. Where I'm sure Jay you've had the same thing where, you know private money. But there's sometimes you see that out there. It's almost like the Baker's trying to teach you how to cut meat. It doesn't go together. Right? If you go to the butcher to learn how to cut meat, not the Baker, go to the Baker for baking the bread, but there's always that crossover. So I always encourage people to save efficiency and effectiveness, to have more time with your family. There's two types of support out there. There's moral support take as much as you can and give as much as you can. There's technical support, technical support, Jay.
Jim Sheils (25:09): There's probably, I bet you you'd say there's probably maybe three, four people in the world. You'd feel comfortable talking on your niche and that's it. And that's what I've learned. There's only about two to three groups that I go to for overall, what's the economy going to do real estate wise. And I go to people who have a track record, people who called things for many more years than I've been even investing. And have real teams set up that show track record. And I think that's really important right now in today's day and age, you want to get the best results, like exactly what you're doing. You're giving technical support. Cause you've been there done that, but the problem is sometimes we still go for technical support to people who aren't really in the position to give it, if that makes sense.
Jay Conner (25:48): Yeah. What does giving moral support mean to you? What does giving moral support look like or sound like?
Jim Sheils (26:00): So for example, I had friends that really struggled in retail post COVID. I could give them moral support, Jay. I've never done large retail. I've never had thousands of employees. That just wasn't my thing. So there was a fringe type of technical, but for the most part of saying, Hey, I'm thinking about you, you know, hang in there, you know, there's, there's gotta be other guys going through this, find out what they're doing, but I wasn't going to be the one to stand up on the lifeguard chair and point for where they should go. Cause frankly, I didn't know. So, the advice is more to tell him, to keep going to hang in there. Call if you need anything, don't get too down on yourself. Remember self-worth and network's got nothing to do with each other. Your family is still gonna be there no matter what happens, your real friends will be there. That's that's moral support. Technical support is saying, look, here's how you renegotiate a, you know, a multi package lease. Here are the groups that are holding off on inventory control, where you could get your inventory paid down to a third of what they would have charged you. I don't know how to do that. I'm no, it has to. So I'd be, I'd be faking it and that wouldn't be right to do to them.
Jay Conner (27:15): Yeah. Yeah. I believe I agree with everything you just said. And in addition to that, sometimes the best moral support that we can give people is a sincere listening ear.
Jim Sheils (27:31): That's a lot. Sometimes you don't have to say anything, they just get it off their chest, you release it. I remember I had a lot of releasing conversations in 2008, Jay. And people just listened and that's sometimes that, it clears your head just to get it out. And that's really powerful.
Jay Conner (27:51): Dan Mewhorter is here with us live. He just come in one of the great things about Jay Conner's masterminds that we give and get moral support and technical support. Well, that's so true. And that's a great thing about masterminds. You know, the mastermind that you and I are in Jim. That's all about giving and receiving the technical support and the moral support, you know, and plus another thing that I've discovered over the years when it comes to us entrepreneurs and I'm, my experience has been this relates to men and women. There's just not the majority of the people walking around. Don't understand us, does not understand balls. So it's like, you know, like a lot of people don't understand on people that are listening to this podcast, they get it because people listening to this show have an entrepreneur spirit, or they're interested in entrepreneurial things. But now we have this thing called it's hard to turn this real estate off in between our ears. Right? And you know, people accused us of being workaholics. Well you know, it's really a challenge not to do what I did because I don't even view it as work. It's just what we do. But anyway, these are great strategies. If you have one more strategy you want to share with us or did you, or do you keep it to three?
Jim Sheils (29:26): Yeah, I do keep it to threes, but let me, let me give you a bonus one that's been really powerful for people. And this is like the cheat of cheats. You know, if, if you want a healthy shortcut, this is one of them, your spouse, your children. If you want to have a good relationship with each of them or up the odds of that. You gotta have one on one time, one on one time, this is something I learned in our retreats. Cause we would do whole family retreats and just two retreats with one parent, one child. The potency of one on one time, like a date with your spouse a day with your phone off. And just one of your children, let's say you're crazy like me and have four. It just, it puts the magnifying glass on the relationship in a positive way.
Jim Sheils (30:10): And it opens up new conversations and attention that, you know, big family gatherings won't. Like I come from an Irish Catholic family, which means I have like 7,000 cousins, you know, and that's, that's great, but those big, those big events are great, but it's the one on one time that had the biggest effect on my marriage and on the relationship with my kids. So I would say just like, you're going to schedule with your biggest investors to find your deals, schedule one on one time with your spouse and your children. And you'll be amazed the difference and the depth that you get to just by those deposits of one on one time. It works.
Jay Conner (30:48): I love it. I love it. But Jim, I can tell you what I also know, just in our visit here on the show, you've got a servant's heart. I pick up on it. And I appreciate you coming on here and sharing just fantastic information on how people to really take care of themselves, grow their relationships, nurture the relationships that they have. So let's give out your website, Jim, because I know our listeners and audience would really like to continue to connect with you.
Jim Sheils (31:21): Yeah. If you're interested in our build to rent model, you just go to JaxWealthInvestments.com And if you want a little help on the family side, making sure that your family is successful as your business grows just go visit us at 18summers.com. That's 18Summers.com

Biography
King was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States. His father was a piano player. He died when Earl was still a baby, and Earl was brought up by his mother. With his mother, he started going to church at an early age. In his youth he sang gospel music, but he took the advice of a friend to switch to blues to make a better living.
King started to play the guitar at the age of 15. Soon he started entering talent contests at local clubs, including the Dew Drop Inn. At one such club he met his idol, Guitar Slim. King started imitating Slim, and his presence had a big impact on his musical direction. In 1954, Slim was injured in an automobile accident (right around the time he had the number 1 R&B hit "The Things That I Used To Do"), and King was deputized to continue a tour with Slim's band, representing himself as Slim. After succeeding in this role, King became a regular at the Dew Drop Inn.
His first recording was made in 1953. As Earl Johnson, he released a 78-rpm record, "Have You Gone Crazy"/"Begging at Your Mercy", for Savoy Records. The following year, the talent scout Johnny Vincent introduced King to Specialty Records, for which he recorded some sides, including "Mother's Love", which was locally popular. In 1955, King signed with Vincent's label, Ace. His first single for that label, "Those Lonely, Lonely Nights", was a hit, reaching number 7 on the Billboard R&B chart. He continued to record for Ace for the next five years. During that time, he also he started writing songs for other artists, such as Roland Stone and Jimmy Clanton.
In 1960, Dave Bartholomew invited King to record for Imperial Records. In sessions for that label, he was backed by a host of musicians, including Bob French, George French, James Booker, and Wardell Quezergue. It was at this label he recorded his signature songs "Come On" and "Trick Bag". The former has been a much-covered standard for decades, notably recorded by Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Anson Funderburgh. The latter has also been widely covered, with versions by the Meters and Robert Palmer. King co-wrote a number of songs with Bartholomew, either under his own name or under the pseudonym "E.C. King".
King recorded for Imperial until 1963. He went without a recording contract for the rest of the 1960s. During this time, he mostly concentrated on producing and songwriting for the local labels NOLA and Watch. His compositions from this era include "Big Chief", recorded by Professor Longhair; "Teasin' You", recorded by Willie Tee; and "Do-Re-Mi", recorded by Lee Dorsey. He went to Detroit for an audition with Motown Records and recorded a few tracks in the mid-1960s. Three tracks from that session are included on the album Motown's Blue Evolution, released in 1996.
In 1972, he was joined by Allen Toussaint and the Meters to record the album Street Parade. Atlantic Records initially showed interest in releasing it but eventually declined. The title track was released as a single on the Kansu label at the time, but the rest was unreleased until 1982, when the album was issued by Charly Records in the UK.
In the 1970s, he recorded another album, That Good Old New Orleans Rock 'n Roll, which was released by Sonet in 1977. He also appeared on the album New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival 1976.
In the early 1980s, King met Hammond Scott, the co-owner of Black Top Records, and started to record for the label. The first album Glazed, on which he was backed by Roomful of Blues, was released in 1986. This particular album was nominated for a Grammy Award. A second album, Sexual Telepathy, released in 1990, featured Snooks Eaglin on two tracks and backing by Ronnie Earl & The Broadcasters on some tracks. He recorded his third album for Black Top, Hard River to Cross (1993), with backing by George Porter, Jr., David Torkanowsky, and Herman V. Ernest III.
In 2001, King was hospitalized for an illness during a tour of New Zealand in 1981, but that did not stop him from performing. In December of the same year, he toured Japan. and he continued to perform off and on locally in New Orleans until his death.
King died on April 17, 2003, from diabetes-related complications, just a week before the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. His funeral was held on April 30, during the festival, and many musicians attended it, including Dr. John, Leo Nocentelli and Aaron Neville. His Imperial recordings, which had long been out of print, were reissued on CD soon after he died. The June 2003 issue of OffBeat, a local music magazine, paid tribute to King with a series of articles on him.

I was thinking about self harming this evening, considering it. Considering what i could do in lieu of it. Thinking about my parents. It reminded me of something
I remember when my mom found all my cutting supplies one time she searched my room. I had a bag full of blood soaked paper towels and my journal with the blade i used taped inside. My mom found the bag and asked me what i used to cut with. I showed her the blade, and she got so mad because it was rusted. I got a lecture because it could have killed me. I went to therapy and I don’t think i got grounded, i may have already been grounded at this point too I don’t recall. THis was sometime in middle school so chances were high that i was. But regardless, I didn’t get into any more trouble for this, yet I remember feeling like i was. I remember feeling like my parents were angry at me, they didn’t trust me, they were ashamed of me, they felt i was being over dramatic, just an emotional teenager.
I was talking to Scott today, NPD fresh on my mind from some research for Jesse (will get to that aha) and i went over my lack of privacy. They read my diary when i was 16, brought it to my while i was in the hospital for suicidal ideation. As part of the leaving process for this facility which i was desperately trying to leave (nothing spurs your will to live than prison- er mental health facilities) I was told that i had a session with my therapist (who i had had one 30 minute conversation with) and my parents, whom she had advised per program protocol to search my room. So they searched. They pulled out the half smoked blunt and i got some generic mark lecture about drugs and his house and this that and the other, and words from Laura regarding how it impaires your brain growth and depression and blah blah. Of course what they didn’t bring up was that after this session they would both go home to smoke it off while i went back to my plastic cot where i was allowed to keep a book and my blanket and a pillow from home. After i spent Christmas surrounded by strangers who treated me kinder than my parents in a place that felt like a prison.
And they read my journal. They pulled quotes like it was fucking Shakespeare- we don’t understand why you hate him so much, we don’t understand, we think youre using this as a way to make yourself more upset, we think this is too triggering, were not giving it back.
They kept my diary. My mom had it in the back of her drawer for a long time before i had the nerve to ask for it back, maybe a couple years.
Do you wanna know how they justified all this? What started it?
My biological father got in contact with me again after my 17th birthday. He got the date wrong and I’m pretty sure he thought i was 18 and that’s why he did it. He found my number on facebook, and texted me some bullshit.
My parents allowed me to have a relationship with him- on their terms. I was texting him too late into the night, and too much at school. It was not to interfere with sleep or my school work.
Why? Because my parents didn’t want my grades to slip. No, not because it was causing any actual problems. I was doing really well in my classes, they were just watching my texts and keeping tabs on when i was texting him. They told him and me the same thing, and the next day he texted me while i was between classes and i messaged him back during my free periods, lunch, etc. Genuinely following the heart of the rule which I hadn’t before (i snuck my phone during class) and figuring it would be fine.
Got home, Mark asks if i talked to Eric (should have known he knew) said no, he said i have proof of 36 messages, give me your phone. Really? Yeah.
I handed it over and v o w e d to not say a single word to my parents. It was almost Christmas, and i was grounded for an indefinite amount of time (i think they sat me down after and justified it somehow and i got a month. A month. For texting my biological father. Lmao) They were concerned about our relationship but rather than addressing their concerns in a valid way i just got punished for continuing it. SO i was completely silent for two days. I figured 1) there wasn’t a damn thing they could do to make things worse. They’ve already taken everything before, and i usually cave and kiss ass for the last three weeks because it makes my life more pleasant and fuck them they did not deserve that for this and 2) if they were going to not let me talk to Eric i sure as shit wasn’t going to let them hear from me.
The head came when my mom wrote some trash apology letter to me (i wish i still had it but i shredded it as soon as i read it) that was really an attack on me disguised as an apology that she took no real accountability in. I felt so disgusting, so alone, i saw no way out. Genuinely in that moment i wanted to bleed out in my tub and i wanted Laura to find me. I took a shower and sliced my wrists, a lot. Not the long way, but deeper than i ever had, more than i ever had, and with every intention of getting to that point. I sat in the shower for a long while just watching my wrists bleed and then just kind of came to. THere was this brief panic that over took me and i went into my room and dressed in my giant sweats and sweatshirt and she came in and I showed her my wrists and we went to the er and i got hospitalized.
Yes, i was still grounded when i got out of the hospital. They gave me one day that we celebrated Christmas then they took all my presents until my grounding was done.
This is on par with my 18th birthday. I’m trying to remember why i was grounded this time. Probably weed. I got really smart about almost everything, and i feel like weed was one of them... I had my own car so it wasn’t fucking up theirs... I genuinely W I S H i could remember but honestly I don’t even know. But i was mid grounding on my birthday and they gave me my present, and then left me alone all night, so i figured out how to assemble it myself and cried most of the time.
They grounded me for a month for shaving half my head. They also came into my room while I was sleeping to shave the other half of my head. I refused. They haven’t ever crossed a physical barrier. I would have had them then. I think they might have known that...
I feel broken. Like, a scratched DVD. Like i feel like I’m just skipping at the part where i figure out how to process this shit.
It’s hard its really really hard. I mean talking about it makes it less hard, and I’m glad i was able to talk to Scott. He didn’t seem to really get it until i told him about the diary thing. It’s different for everyone, the part that makes it click when i share my story. It’s usually something they understand personally for one reason or another.
But its hard. I don’t think anyone really gets it, like I don’t think this sort of stuff is fit for conversation with anyone but trained professionals and myself.
My finger hurts and my tummy hurts i think because i had soda and I wanna be more stoned but i also just... wanna not. I thought writing a little might help me feel better but its just making more depressed.
I guess that’s the mood.
Jesses going into a really rough period. He’s having a really really hard time, and just i wish I were in a better space for him. I so so wish i was better at handling my jelousy and insecurities. I’m just trying to feel good about myself. I’m trying to be supportive and kind. I just want to be open and honest. I just want to be helpful and useful. And i know i am those things really often but right now i feel like a nagging annoying ugly morbid monster with a rotting smile and scaley skin and two bellies like a fucking cow. I know i know i know it doesn’t matter if i do but like... it feel like that on the inside. I feel like, there’s just nothing i can do to fill that void, like i feel purposeless right now i guess. I don’t know why I’m here I don’t know what I’m doing nothing makes me feel full i just feel like I’m distracting myself from the empty and i know i know i know i just need to keep pushing forward and taking care of myself but sometime i just don’t want to. I wonder who I’m doing to for.
It should be for me but often i feel like I’m living just because there’s nothing else to do. ANd that’s true but its not a great way to feel. It keeps me going. I know ill get to the good moments again, and probably a lot sooner than i think. I’m just still having a hard time. I’m still struggling to process. I still need to find a therapist among a million other things.
My stomach really hurts UGH.
I wish i had more to share but I don’t. I just hurt and everything is making me sad and I’m just GAH
I wish i knew something to try I wish i had something new i wish there was a way to turn it off for like ten minutes to just remember what it feels like to exist.
AND NOW MY HEAD HURTS
Boi. Ruin m e
In conclusion, i really want to kill myself, but i wont, i really want to cut myself, but i wont, and I’m really sad and i want more coping skills and some serotonin.
Goodnight 😴

Summary: The (Y/LN)-Mazzello have to fight against a horrible illness.
Words: 2.218.
Warnings: Cancer, and everything that has to do with it.
youtube
Another month in that same chair of the hospital. I look around, there are faces that we know, other ones are new, and some, sadly, are gone. But all the faces are sad, what do you expect from the oncology floor of a hospital? This zone is special, the majority of the man, we come accompanied by a woman who are watching his life fall down. I look to my wonderful wife, (Y/N), with her kerchief on the head. Everytime we are here I try to remember when this horrible trip started, when the cancer made a very big place for itself in our lives.
It was a night of november, we were finishing filming, I came home to (Y/N) by herself.
"Where is Joey?"
"I drop him off at my parents house, we need a night by our own." I smiled at her, innocent, expecting a romantic dinner and a nonstop sex night. But that night my life changed completely. "Sit in the couch, I have to show you one thing" she said that very serious. I sat by her side and she took my hands between hers. "Two weeks ago I felt a breast lump, I didn't thought it was something, but I went to the gynecologist just in case. I didn't told you anything so you didn't get worried." I nodded, surprised because she hadn't tell me.
"And when will they give you the results?" I asked, innocently.
"They gave them to me today, Joe. I have breast cancer, stage 2."
Everything stopped, my breath, my heart. The only thing I heard was the wall clock doing "tick-tack", like wanting to say that our time was running. I felt my wife's eyes get wet, I felt my eyes get wet, I touch her ring, in her ring finger. Everything started again, tha pain my father lived for months, now in my wife.
"Sweetie..." I whispered. The tears were running down our cheeks. (Y/N) fell on me with a hug. We shivered together, we cried together, God knows how long. Suddenly we were in our king sized bed, (Y/N) on my chest, making a puddle of tears on my t-shirt. I kissed her forehead, and tried to say something at last. "You will get out of it, and I'll help you. You're a warrior."
"I just want you to know that I love you, you and Joey."
"We know that, my love." We kept crying, I didn't want to imagine life without her. It was too early for that, our son was four years old, we had been married for only six years. I remember taking her hand, her delicate hand, with those nails, always painted with red. I had done that action so many times: the first time we kissed, that night at the cinema; in our wedding; when she was giving birth to Joey. And I was taking her hand while the disease that killed my father, was killing her. "What now?"
"The tumor didn't metastasized, that's good. But it's too big to treat it with only chemotherapy. Firstly they'll give me some chemotherapy sessions to reduce it, they'll operate and then we'll see." (Y/N) looked at my eyes, "I will start in two weeks." I nodded, for then we would have already wrapped so I could be with her as long as she needed. "I'm scared, Joe."
I told her that everything would be fine, but I was scared to death.
Two weeks after that we were together in a hospital room, watching a movie while they injected her the first doses of chemotherapy. We were scared, because we didn't knew how bad would that be on her body, probably really damn bad. And it was really damn bad, the first hours weren't that bad, but she threw up for the first time that night. At the third day she didn't had any force to stand up so she just threw up without warning me. The fifth day started the "clarity", (Y/N) started eating. But she also started to go off the dizziness brought about the fever, so she started realising the situation.
"I wanna see Joey."
"I know, honey, but he can bring here germs from the school and you could get sicker."
(Y/N) just nodded, some tears run off her eyes, but she said she was okay, she didn't want me to get worried.
One of the biggest problems came after the second cycle of chemotherapy, her hair started to fell off. A man losing his hair is tough, but a woman losing hers is terrible. The first time we met (Y/N) had this long brown hair, it was like that until now. When she realised what was going she decided to shaved it. I helped her. I remember her looking herself in the mirror while we did it, the tears didn't stop falling without any noise.
Even so, there were happy moments, when the week session ended, (Y/N) and Joey would meet again, my heart raced the day Joey arrived home after (Y/N) had shaved her head, but he loved it.
"Mommy, you're like the one from Dr. Strange."
"Yes, sweetheart, do you like it?" the kid looked to her mother smiling and whispering "cool".
But when I had to take him to his grandparents house before the chemotherapy it was horrible. Joey always asked about his mother.
"Mom is going to be okay, right, daddy?"
"Of course she will, champ."
"But Scott said the other day that his aunt died of mom's sickness."
"Don't worry, your mother it's a fighter and she is going to get well. I promise."
When I came back to the car, half an hour later, I started to listen to (Y/N)'s playlist, a song I haven't heard before started. I couldn't take off that song of my head for months. "Terrible Things" by Mayday Parade.
By the time I was your age I'd give anything to fall in love truly
was all I could think
that's when I met your mother
the girl of my dreams
the most beautiful woman that I'd ever seen.
She said boy can I tell you a wonderful thing?
"I can't help but notice you staring at me
I know I shouldn't say this, but I really believe
I can tell by your eyes that you're in love with me."
Now son, I'm only telling you this because life can do terrible things.
I didn't wanted to keep listening to it, I know where that story was leading, even though, I couldn't stop listening to it. That song wasn't in that playlist before, (Y/N) had put it there some days before.
Now most of the time we'd have too much to drink
and we'd laugh at the stars and we'd share everything.
Too young to notice and too dumb to care
love was a story that couldn't compare.
I said girl can I tell you a wonderful thing?
"I made you a present with paper and string
open with care now, I'm asking you please
you know that I love you
will you marry me?"
Suddenly, and for the first time since my wife told me she had cancer, I cried like a kid, lonely, driving back home, listening to the story I hoped not live.
Now son I'm only telling you this because life can do terrible things
you'll learn one day, and I hope and I pray that God shows you differently.
She said boy can I tell you a terrible thing?
"It seems that I'm sick and I've only got weeks.
Please don't be sad now, I really believe
you were the greatest thing that ever happened to me."
I parked in front of the house we bought seven years ago and just listened, I didn't want to think that (Y/N) had listened this song in those months, but she had, it wouldn't be there otherwise. I felt three knocks on the window and saw my wike, hairless, making a sign for me to open the door.
"Honey, what happens?" she said worried when I opened the door. I pointed the radio of the car, where the last verse was playing, without saying anything, because of the sobbing.
Slow, so slow, I fell to the ground on my knees.
So don't fall in love there's just too much to lose
if you're given the choice, I'm begging you choose to walk away, walk away
don't let it get you, I can't bare to see the same happen to you.
Now son, I'm only telling you this, because life can do terrible things.
"Sweetie..." she gave me her hand, helping me to get out, we hugged in the middle of the yard. "I'm sorry, I didn't remember that my Spotify is connected to your car radio."
"Why do you listen to that song?"  I took her cheeks with my hands, crying.
"Because I have to prepare ourselves for everything, Joe. A lot of people die of this and I want to have things that remind me that I have to live to the limit for the time that is left, it doesn't matter if it's a year or forty. This encourage me to fight."
"Then, anything that helps you to fight, it's fine for me."
"I love you"
"I love you more."
"That is not possible, Joey."
Six months went by, chemotherapy cycles continued. (Y/N) was feeling dejected, but she knew that the treatment was like that, and she was encouraged to continue with it. In the seventh month they operated her, it was a simple and short operation, but I was really scared. The postoperative went fine, the bad part was going home, the day that (Y/N) took off the bandage and saw for the first time her operated breast. A long line traveled from where there used to be a nipple to her armpit. She cried in front of the mirror much more time than when she shaved her head.
"I'm so ugly." I had never heard (Y/N) say something so serious.
"Sweetheart, you are not."
"For god's sake, Joe, look at me. I've no hair, I only have one boob. I'm not a woman anymore, I'm a disease that fucked up this last year to you and to Joey."
"(Y/N), I don't want to listen that from you ever, not even as a joke." I made her turn around and look at my eyes. "Look at me, you are the most beautiful, precious, pretty, nice person I've ever met, inside and outside. Obviously this last year wasn't wonderful, it sucked, but it didn't suck because of you. And it doesn't matter that it sucked because we have stick together, we have seen our son grow old, we have seen ourselves grow. And Joey loves you, do you know what he told me the other day when we went out of the hospital?" (Y/N) denied with her head. "That you are his favourite superhero."
(Y/N) started crying again, but of emotion, she whispered: "I love you both". She turned around, facing the mirror. "But you've to admit that I'm not as sexy as I was before."
I approached her, I hugged her from behind and I whispered. "Love, if you only knew how much you turn me on... all your doubts would be over. Let's go to bed and I'll show you."
The operation was fine, but not as successful as we hoped. So they kept giving her chemotherapy.
And here we are now, a year and a half after that night when everything started, we were about to go inside the doctor's office, to do the same, they told us the tumor was still there, the chemotherapy was doing her job, but it was slow. Last night, when we were in bed, reading each one a book, she stared at me, stroked my face and thank me.
"Why?" I asked.
"Because when it's three in the morning, I wake up from a nightmare, I think I'm not gonna make it, I'm not going to escape from cancer, that it will have me like this forever, When I want to stop fighting. I just have to turn around, move a little to wake you up, and the first thing you do is smile, that's when I remember why I have to keep fighting. And thank you for taking care of Joey so long and so good. I wouldn't have gotten here if it wasn't for the two of you." I felt my eyes fill up with tears. I answered that we wouldn't live without her, her smile and her fightness.
I observe her for a while while she reads the newspaper on her phone. We had been repeating this doctor appointment for six months, expecting them to say that everything was over that there was no sign of disease in (Y/N)'s breast. And even though we didn't verbalised it we were each time less hopeful and we saw it every time further away.
"(Y/N) (Y/LN)-Mazzello." the nurse says. We go into the doctor's office.
"Good morning (Y/N), good morning Joe." We shake her hand to the doctor that had attended us from the first moment. "Let's see." She takes some informs and scans from the packet that we always had with us. The doctor smiles. "(Y/N), you don't have cancer anymore."
I look to my beautiful wife and whisper "Sweetie.." just as I did when she told me about her illness. Our eyes fill up with tears, and suddenly, we are on each other arms. I won't have to show Joey that horrible song by Mayday Parade. If we show it to him, it would be together, so he knows the terrible things that happen in life.

 “Quiero ver a Joey.”
No quería seguir escuchándola, sabía los derroteros que iba a tomar la canción, y aún asi, no podía parar de escucharla. Esa canción no había estado en esa playlist nunca, la había añadido (Y/N) uno de estos últimos días.
De repente, y desde el día que me enteré del cáncer de mi mujer, volví a llorar como un niño, a solas, conduciendo de vuelta a casa, escuchando la historia que esperaba nunca vivir.

Needham’s Best Stock Picks for 2021
Tumblr media
Are you ready for the New Year? We’re getting down to the wire, 2020 is almost gone, and Wall Street’s analysts are engaged in the time-honored tradition of picking stocks for next year.
In the background, we have, finally, a foundation of good news. The election is settled. For better or worse, former VP Joe Biden will take office on January 20, but he’ll have to deal with a Congress that features the narrowest partisan divide in decades. It’s a situation that lends itself to institutional gridlock – and oddly, that has investors feeling confident. It’s unlikely that the next four years will see any sweeping legislation. Investors foresee a period of stability, which is conducive to market gains.
Even better, the availability of COVID vaccines promises a return to normal life sooner rather than later. The prospect of large-scale immunity is a net positive by any measure.
And there is momentum. Markets have been gaining since March, and all three main indexes, the Dow, the S&P, and the NASDAQ, are at – or near – record-high levels. They are riding on the optimism of election results and the COVID vaccines – but the markets’ own gains have become another reason for optimism. It’s a virtuous circle.
With this in mind, Needham’s analysts have chosen three stocks they like for next year. While the firm’s analysts believe the three are poised to surge at least 25% in the year ahead, we wanted to get the rest of the Street’s opinion. After using TipRanks’ database, we learned that each ticker has scored Buy ratings from other members of the analyst community as well.
Synaptics, Inc. (SYNA)
Our computer systems are only as good as their user interfaces. The array of keyboards, pointers, touchpads, trackballs, and touchscreens we’ve developed gives testament to this basic fact of digital work. Synaptics is a tech company that develops high-end user interfaces systems, including flex-screens, touch-screens, VR systems, video interfaces, and vision tracking systems for IoT applications.
Story continues
Our digital world puts a premium on both user interface systems and security, and Synaptics has delivered on both fronts. The company was the first to market a viable touchpad pointer system, and the first to develop the biometric tech for fingerprint sensors. Synaptics markets its products primarily to device companies in the mobile sector, and to computer display manufacturers.
2020 was a hard year for Synaptics. In Q3, the company was starting to show a recovery from the COVID recession, with the top line rebounding back to $328 million, but both revenues and earnings were down year-over-year. The company’s shares, however, are on their way up. The stock has gained 47% this year, with a notable spike in the last two weeks.
Needham’s Rajvindra Gill is impressed by Synaptics’ forward path. He writes, “We believe that recent M&A deals (acquisitions of Broadcom’s wireless IoT business and DisplayLink) have transformed the business and will increase higher margin revenues while simultaneously opening new markets and creating opportunities for cost synergies. We look for the IoT business to have opportunities in the Edge computing, wireless connectivity and USB-C categories. In the remaining mobile business, SYNA is dominating the high-margin OLED touch controller market, winning virtually every new design by major handset OEMs.”
In line with those comments, Gill makes SYNA his ‘best pick’ for 2021 and has a Buy rating on the shares. The analyst’s $130 price target implies a 33% upside potential for the next 12 months. (To watch Gill’s track record, click here)
Overall, Wall Street is quite positive on this ‘Moderate Buy’ stock: SYNA has received 5 Buys and 2 Holds in the past three months. Running the numbers across the Street, the 12-month average price target lands at $105.5, suggesting about 8% growth in the new year (See SYNA stock analysis on TipRanks)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Duck Creek Technologies (DCT)
Sticking with the tech sector, we’ll look at Duck Creek. This Boston-based software company has found a home in the insurance world, producing software products that are industry-specific and designed to ease insurance carriers’ routine tasks of managing services. Duck Creek’s customers include such major names as AIG, Geico, and Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance.
Duck Creek offers insurers a full range of software systems, including tools for policy rating, billing, and claims, along with data insights, distribution management, and reinsurance management.
The value of the products can be inferred from the company’s successful IPO. When DCT started trading on the NASDAQ this past August, the stock closed its first session at $40 per share – after opening at $27. The 48% gain in the company’s first day followed a total capital raise of $405 million for the IPO.
Since the IPO, Duck Creek has issued one quarterly report as a public company. That report, for Q3, showed revenue at $58 million, or up 23% sequentially. The solid revenue was powered by a 54% year-over-year gain in subscription sales. The company finished its FY20 with a 24% yoy revenue gain, and reported over $389 million in cash on hand.
5-star analyst Mayank Tandon, in his report on DCT for Needham, was impressed enough by the company to call it his ‘best pick.’
“We are highlighting DCT as our top pick for 2021 and adding it to the Needham Conviction List. We believe DCT has a long growth runway. With the global P&C insurance industry in the early days of a long transition to modern, cloud-based software solutions and DCT’s leading SaaS offerings and best-in-class execution, we believe the company will deliver outsized growth over the next several years… We see the robust industry-wide secular growth and the strong potential for beat and raise performances serving as positive catalysts for the shares,” Tandon wrote.
To this end, Tandon rates the stock a Buy, and his $55 price target indicates confidence in a one-year upside of ~28%. (To watch Tandon’s track record, click here)
The Buy-Hold split here is 4 to 2, making this another stock with a Moderate Buy rating from the analyst consensus. The shares sell for $43.11 and the $49.67 average price target suggests 16% growth from that level. (See DCT stock analysis on TipRanks)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anaplan, Inc. (PLAN)
The third ‘best pick’ we’re looking at from Needham is Anaplan, another cloud software company. Anaplan offers business planning software, that facilitates connections among people, their data, and their plans. By easing connections, Anaplan’s software makes decision making processes smoother, in everything from finance to HR. Anaplan boasts over 1,500 business customers.
Anaplan’s revenues have been rising steadily in 2020, along with the share value. For the first, the top line sales have increased in each quarter of the year, going from $104 million in Q1 to $115 million in Q3, a gain of 10.7%. Meanwhile, PLAN shares have gained 37% year-to-date.
5-star Needham analyst Scott Berg clearly sets out the bullish case for Anaplan when he writes, “We are selecting Anaplan as our 2021 best idea and adding it to our Conviction List. Our industry work suggests that demand for Anaplan’s leading Planning platform will climb in 2021, as this year’s economic slowdown convinced companies to free up the time and resources companies needed to replace lagging legacy solutions that were ill-equipped to deliver business data during the most critical time periods in the pandemic.”
Berg backs his bullish thesis with a Buy rating and a $95 price target. This figure implies a 32% upside potential in the next 12 months. (To watch Berg’s track record, click here)
All in all, PLAN has 12 Buy-side ratings given in recent weeks. These are partially balanced by 5 Holds and 1 Sell, making the analyst consensus view a Moderate Buy. The stock’s strong gains through the year have pushed its share price to $71.60, almost to the $74.89 average price target and leaving room for just ~4% growth. (See PLAN stock analysis on TipRanks)

TGIWednesday and being thankful for your blessings
Tumblr media
TGIWednesday News
This whole month in honor of Thanksgiving is about being Thankful. We all know that having gratitude can be a great way to shift our state and our perspective ie: from anxiety to calm.  So regardless of who wins or loses elections, planetary changes, ascension and yes even a plague... remain thankful and express your gratitude in words and actions. If you’re reading this, you have electricity and internet.  Most of us have a roof over our heads, electricity, running water, clothes and food.  So you’re actually better off than 51% of the world.  When things get rough or hard to navigate, I go humble and thankful and as Great Granny Ruth always said, “Count your blessings!” Here's something to look forward to and count as a blessing... the release THIS MONTH of our newest audio MP3 and PDF called MyBeliefWorks for Experiencing a Bountiful Harvest  which appropriately enough reflects thankfulness for what you have, and blasts through whatever is blocking you from making financial gains going forward!  This is a very unique audio we are adding to our prosperity collection that you’ll enjoy and that will benefit you financially for years to come.  If you've purchased MBW audios in the past, look for the VIP 48-hour pre-sale email in your inbox within the next week or two. Following that, the launch will go live to everyone with our usual, never-to-be-offered again introductory low pricing.

~ COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS  ~ I believe, think, know and feel thankful for all of my blessings. I am ready, willing and able to remain thankful thereby co-creating more reasons to be even more thankful. I know, when, where, how and why from Spirits perspective how to remain humble, gracious and thankful and so it is in all languages and throughout all time lines!
From the Fish Box
Q&A with Jimmy Q) "Hi Jimmy - I'm really sorry to bother you with this but I'm going to ask - do you still do that neat trick of finding things? I can see things have taken off and how busy you are and I don't want to book a session with you if you don't think its appropriate." - A.W. A) "My friend that does what I do always says “I can help you with disease/illness or disorders but don’t ask me to find your car keys LOL" So that’s where I am at right now for sure……….but I know you can body dowse/map out, narrow down locations, rooms/cars etc. I like statements instead of questions……… where are my car keys?  Instead make a statement, "My car keys are in the bedroom." and you’ll get a yes or no.  When looking for stuff you can figure it out for sure." - Jimmy
