welp, i tested positive for covid this morning, lmao. i had to cancel class tomorrow.
hopefully i can gather the energy to record a little lecture or something so that students get some of the background they're hoping for (basically this week was the "how to read middle english" primer/refresher course). overall it's fairly mild, so as long as i don't have a fever on friday, i'm going to go to class (masked, of course) and we can talk about the poems i'm having them read. i'm gonna struggle to be heard through the mask, but alas. we'll have to make do.
other than that, i have two students from my summer course who didn't submit their work by the extended deadline (last friday), which was the very last day i'm technically allowed to accept late work. one of them might?? maybe???? be submitting something by tonight?? she emailed at like 3 in the morning on saturday asking for a couple of extra days. i answered yesterday telling her that if she got something to me by 10pm tonight, then i would make it work (grades are due tomorrow lol), but if not, then she would have to file a petition for a term work extension with the registrar. the other one is... i think?? in the process of submitting such a petition.
i'm just here sitting on my couch surrounded by tissues and trying to get some of my shit together, lol.

My housemate reminded me of a flashbulb memory I have that I really wish I had a photograph of because it would be a magnificent image to inflict on the internet at large with Zero Context, but I'll try to describe it here, and then draw it after dinner.
Image Description:
As seen from about three feet off the ground: Interior, the den of an american suburban house built at the height of the atomic age and still decorated like it years later. There's dark wood paneling about halfway up the walls that offsets the almost neon pink-orange light of late sunset visible through the large window. Every object in the room is highlighted by the last of the sunlight. The only other light in the room is a TV set that was manufactured the same year Howdy Doody debuted on air, now broadcasting PBS Newshour in black and white.
Closest to the viewer, there is a small end table with a Nearly Full Martini glass, and a Half-empty glass Martini Pitcher, indicating that two of the five martinis it holds have been poured out.
Just behind it, an old man sits in a chair that was bright green and yellow when it was new but is now more Grellow. The man is in his mid-sixites, somewhat heavyset, with a full head of snow-white hair and thick glasses. He's wearing a dark brown tweed suit with leather elbow patches, and a white cotton button-up. He's watching the news with a calm and dispassionate demeanor. Tired, but still engrossed with the world's events. He's wearing dark brown penny loafers and garish argyle socks.
Behind him is a couch that is a matched set with the armchair, with the same Grellow chevron pattern, but there is a very large crochet afghan that has been spread out over the back to be decorative and maybe protect the couch from it's current occupant: a 120lb Wolf Hybrid.
She's seated lengthwise on the couch, like she had also been watching PBS Newshour, posed like a sphynx. She's close in wieght to the man, and definitely taller than him if she stands up, with a dark gray agouti coat and a bit of white countershading from the trace of domestic dog in her. She's turned her head to the viewer, bright yellow eyes focused on them, and the fur of her head and neck haloed with the sunset. She is pleased to see the veiwer, which means most of the teeth in her lower jaw are visible in her canine grin. The effect is very menacing if you don't know her.
Clutched rather neatly between her front paws is a second, identical martini glass, only not nearly quite so full as the old man's.

⚠️: When things started to get. ~~~~~~~~~~~~good~~~~~~~~~~~~~
⚠️: not meant for green minded,
⚠️: just make sure not to imagine to much about this
Mc: I know! Let's watch an anime!
*Mc swiped the remote from Jade who is currently scrolling at Maginstagram using a smartmirror Tv*
Jade: I'm not done yet!!
Mc: shut up you're just looking at unsuitable pictures, look what happened to Deuce and Ace, even Epel didn't take it.
*pointed at Deuce, Ace, and Epel that is lying on the floor after they fainted out of over blushing.*
Leona: Awwww... Things are starting to get good.
Jack: *nodded*
Grim: Fnyaahhhhhh!! Henchman?!!!!!
Kalim: What a party pooper!!!!
Jamil: I've never felt this kind of sensation
Malleus: my soul just awoken, it desires to seek more
Lilia: I never thought huge things are better.
Sebek: Human! Don't take away the things Waka-sama likes.
Mc: Why don't all of you consider what I feel!
Floyd: It's not our fault shrimpy that you're the opposite of our gender~~~
Riddle: it's unjust and selfish if you only think of your side rather than the majority's.
Cater & Trey: Well said.
Mc: trey?! Even you?!
Trey: Well.... I can't disagree to our dorm leader or..
Cater: our heads might roll
Azul: We can do some arrangements unless if you agree to the terms of the contract
Mc: I'll do it...
*Azul's eyes brightened*
Mc: AFTER I DIED
*Azul's shoulders went down*
Vil: What about consider my Model offer instead dear apple.
Mc: *didn't bother to look at him* Sh7t! Did I heard a fly talking?
Rook: Roi de Poison?!
*panicked after Vil dropped his head on Rook's lap while Vil's eyes are weeping*
Silver: *snored loudly*
Ruggie: I want to see the part where--
*Mc threw a pillow but only smacked on Ruggie's face.*
Ruggie: Ouch!!!!
Kalim: Nice throw!
Mc : *mumbled* I wished that it flew away with his furry messy brain
Deuce, Ace & Epel: Ow snap!
Ruggie: I heard ya!
Mc: well good
Ruggie: Geez, you're just hot headed cuz yours is small
Deuce, Ace & Epel: ouch, savage!
*started to fight and their words and insults are not so clean*
Grim: nyahhh?!..... *Asked to them with worry* Should we stop them?
All Dorm leaders replied: A good show mustn't be cancelled
Mc: Well... Your!....
*Mc stopped because she can't pick an appropriate word for it*
Mc: I could just gobble you up!!!
Ruggie: Go on Flatty
*Mc's eyes darkened and grinned*
Mc: now you reached my murder limit
All of them: ruggie run!!!
*Ruggie ran around but did not left the room because he enjoyed it while Mc's anger meter is rising 5 times faster, if she can overblot she have definitely exploded Ruggie's body parts*
*Mc stumbled when someone held her leg*
Mc's thought: first I'm ashamed of seeing improper image of my same gender, then insulted my balloon as inflated and now I had a chance to get a first kiss from this nasty floor.
*Mc looked at who did that ready to kick him out of the world*
Kalim: Is silver really sleeping?
Lilia: Yep... I too was surprised that he had this unique talent. Attacking while snoring
Silver: Mc.... *Talked while sleeping*
Mc: *crawled to him then glared at Ruggie* I'm not done with you
Mc: *turned again to silver* what is it?
Epel: he's talking while sleeping..
Lilia & Sebek: *nodded*
Silver: Mc...
*Mc's eyes softened while waiting, her anger before lowered down*
Silver: Mc... Your's is small but soft... I want to squish it...... especially at bed
*Mc's eyes softened while waiting went darker than h3ll, her anger before lowered down now multiplied to a hundred times. Her intent kill level reached to maximum*
All of them whispered: this is far worse than overblot
*Sliver rubbed his eyes*
Silver: What happened---- why is there a devil in front of me???
*Cluelessly spoke and looks like his mind is still into sleep*
Lilia: Silver!!!!!!!!!
All of them: Scram!!!!!!!!
*Silver ran while crying and thinking of the moments he had with his wonderful dream where the Mc gave a small crochet bear to him*
Silver running: I wished I never woke up!

Playing Favourites || One
That dreaded time had come, once again, Reaping Day, for the 69th year in a row.
Cove wasn't worried, she wasn't a career, even if her name managed to be picked, someone would volunteer for her, right? They'd have to.
It wasn't often that District 4 had volunteers, but considering Cove had dropped out the academy, she had high hopes someone was willing to take her spot.
"Where've you been, girl?" Cove's father asked, as she walked through the front door, wringing out her wet hair.
"Decided to take an early morning swim, burn off my nerves." She huffed, making her way towards the bathroom. "Peacemakers are here, by the way."
"Already?" He asked.
"Yeah, Dad, not long now." She sighed
"It won't be the same, it can't." He muttered to himself. "I can't lose her too."
"It won't, there's a 6 in what? 10 thousand?" Cove shrugged, coming up with a random estimate of 12-18 year olds in her district, out of the 100 thousand population. "I'll be fine, I promise. 'Sides, its the last one, then we're free."
She didn't really believe these odds, but she had to keep a front for her father, he had been broken since the incident, that had happened three years ago, where she had lost her brother, and her mother, only a week apart.
She remembered it, well, it wasn't something that was exactly hard to forget, both had happened right in front of her very eyes.
Her brother being brutally massacred, when he had made it so far into his games, all he had to do was beat those four tributes, and he would've been home, but the second he accidently shown vulnerability, he helped that kid, his story was over, just like that, her parents and herself were gathered around the TV as it happened, sobbing and yelling, trying to wake up from the nightmare.
Her mothers pain had turned to anger, she had been petitioning and striking all around the district, for a stop to the games, and on the same day, the following week, her mother was hung, for the whole district to see, as a warning, the games would never end, and rebellions would be diminished.
But it wasn't just her family, that she had lost to the Hunger Games, her friend from school, Finnick Odair, the sensation that he was, had been reaped and won his games, at only fourteen, the youngest ever, he was loved by the Capital, and since winning, and moving to the Victor Village, he had no time for his life from before, no time for her. They had hardly seen each other, his first year, and she couldn't move past the images of him taking those other children's lives' on repeat, in her head.
After her brother, Finnick had taken all measures possible, to avoid the girl, a notable memory, had been a few months after the games, she was working in Shrimps Café, the boy had walked in, and as soon as he layed eyes on her, before either could blink, he was back out the door, she had never seen him in there, since.
She wondered if he felt guilty, since becoming a Mentor, knowing that these people's lives were in his hands, and it was up to him whether they died or became murderers, maybe that's why he had gone out of his way to avoid her, for three whole years, knowing the pain he had caused her and her father, for he had been there too, when her mother was hung, she had spotted him, that day, in the crowd.
Once the seawater had been rinsed out of Cove's hair, she reluctantly got dressed for the Reaping.
She had chosen a pale blue silk dress, that complemented her well, throwing an crocheted off-white sweater over the top.
She did her best to tame her wild blonde curls, but being drenched in saltwater, and bleached from the sun, over the years, hadn't been the best thing for her hair, so she brushed through them with her hands, untangling any knots, letting her hair stay down, to air dry.
She then sprayed her mothers perfume along her body, letting the scent bring back warm memories of the woman, she only ever wore it on special occasions, or reaping day.
Cove sat down on her bed, hugging her stuffed shark to her chest, the one she had since she was a child, as she waited for the time to pass.
The 69th Hunger Games, all those children that have died, for something they had no hand in, it made Cove feel sick at the thought, her brother was one of them, and now, another unlucky twenty three, would be joining him and all the others.
When enough time had passed, Cove placed down her stuffed shark, getting up from her bed, and leaving her bedroom, closing the door behind her.
"Dad...It's time." She tried to keep her voice steady, as she leaned against the door frame of their living room, he hadn't moved since she first entered the house. "Daddy, it'll be okay."
"I can't lose you, too." He began to sob. It was the same, every year, since her brothers passing.
Cove holding her father together, as if it were him being sent to his death, each year.
"We're going to be late, it's okay, here, Grap was kind enough to sneak me this." She handed her father a small vile, morphling, she was willing to try anything, to keep her father from causing a scene, or even his death, to this day, they still had eyes on them, after what her mother had done to their reputation. "It'll make you feel better, I promise."
Her fathers red rimmed eyes fell on her, and then her outstretched hand.
He sighed as he took it, unstopping it, and downing the lot.
Cove held her fathers hand tightly, as they walked down to the Square, outside the justice building, together, ignoring the onlookers, and the whispers, from the other residents of district 4.
Cove had worked hard, over the years, to make a name for herself, not the girl who's brother died during the games, or the daughter of the hanged and widowed.
She made friends with every tradesperson in district 4, she took on as much jobs as she could, and even doing volunteer work, for others. Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, she sang in the Tavern for the people, she loved singing, and apparently, others liked her voice, too, as she always seemed to have good feedback.
Though, Cove was popular with the community, her father had become a hermit, since the passing, he rarely left the house, he was a shell of the man he once was, no one in their district held any respect for him, especially after what he had let his wife do, and then with how his wife had passed.
Begrudgingly, she kissed her fathers cheek, letting go, and pointing him in the direction of where he should stand, in the crowd, as she lined up behind the other children.
"Name?" One of the registerers asked.
"Cove, Cove Tippet." She answered, holding out her right index finger.
The man took hold of her hand, pricking her finger with the little machine, then placing it down, clocking her into the Panem records, once again.
Once she had been processed, Cove made her way to stand with the other 18 year old girls in her district.
"Feel sorry for everyone else" Tampa Riverbank scoffed, beside Cove. "Only one of us here has to be sacrificed, for us lot to go home safe and never have to worry about this, again."
"Well, may the odds be ever in our favour." Cove put on a posh accent, mocking one of the Capitols many motto's, causing a snicker and scoff's from the girls around her.
"Can you see that one, over in the 16's" Another girl had turned around, to ask the two. "Lil redhead."
They followed where she was nodding at, spotting her.
"That's Annie." Cove replied. "Annie Cresta, I think, she's like two years below us, in school."
"Look at her crying and sobbing." Tampa rolled her eyes. "Like, hello, we all have a chance of dying, or surviving."
"Who's the careers, this year?" Cove asked her.
"Uhm... I'm not actually sure, I haven't heard anything."
"If Tampa's not heard anything, good luck."
"What's that supposed to mean?" She turned on the girl next to her.
"Come on, you know everything that goes on, around here, You're the biggest gossip in the district."
"Shush, here come the victors." The same girl from in front of them, hissed.
All their attention turned to the stage, watching closely as the previous Victors of District 4 walked it
Mags Flanagan was the only female tribute of their district, that was still alive, winning in the 11th games, having the first ever Victory Tour, Adrian Mississippi, he had won a few decades ago, he was a lean balding man, he mostly kept to himself, no one really saw him around the district, Cove could remember her father telling her once, that his games had been before the second quarter-quell and he never truly seemed to come to.
Max Pompano, had been a couple of years after, she'd spoken to him a few times, though he could come off blunt, and a lil strange, he had always been polite. Oscar Shan, who had won a good ten years ago, had been one of Finnick's mentors, along with Mags, she had been grateful to him, for saving her friend, even if their friendship was no more.
Then, Finnick Odair took to the stage.
Hushes and whispers could be heard all over the square, Cove was pretty sure she had seen someone's mother faint, when he gave a wave to the crowd.
The girls around her giggled and nudged each other, but she had tuned them all out, her face was blank, as she strayed away from him, as he took his seat.
"Now, now, settle down." The Mayor of district 4 called.
The whole of the district faded into silence, as he spoke.
Cove was still in her own world, as he continued his annual speech, about the Hunger Games, the dark times and the importance of the morals Panem now had.
"And now, our escort, all the way from the Capital, Remus Tacita."
A brightly dressed, and eccentric Man walked the stage, he was dressed in all shades of blue, and wore a wig, that looked as though it was supposed to be representing waves, Cove guessed this was him trying to support the district.
"Welcome, Welcome, everyone, to the 69th Annual Hunger Games, as always, it is an huge honour to be here, once again, and may the odds be ever in your favour" Not even a whisper was heard, in the silence that followed.
"Very well then, now is the time to pick one very brave young man and woman, to compete, this year, ladies first, of course."
The man trotted to the large bowl, containing the name of every girl between the ages of 12 and 18 in the district.
Remus dipped his hand in, digging around for a certain piece of paper, before pulling it out, and holding it high for everyone to see.
He then walked back towards the mic.
Tampa yanked a hold of Cove's hand, squeezing it tightly, with her eyes scrunched up shut, as they waited.
"... This years female tribute is.... Cove Tippet."
Cove clapped her hands, not hearing what he had said, until she realised she was the only one.
"Why's everyone looking at me, who was picked?" She asked Tampa, who was staring at her in horror.
"Cove, it was you." The girl from in front, hissed at her.
"What, no." She shook her head.
"Cove? Cove Tippet, come on up here."
She had heard him, now, the other girls moved out of the way, for her, as a peacekeeper marched forward, ready to escort her.
"Go, Cove" Tampa shoved her forward, into the path up to the stage.
She struggled to find her footing, as he legs visibly shook.
"Come on, we don't have all day." Remus encouraged her forward.
Cove's face had paled incredibly, some wondered if she was going to throw up, or pass out.
With everyone's eyes on her, and the Camera's pointed in her direction, broadcasting all over Panem.
She walked forward, much like a deer, learning how to walk for the very first time.
Cove stared at the stage, as she got closer, it was the last place her mother had stood, alive. And it was where her brother had also been sentenced to his death.
She wondered what thoughts were going through her fathers mind, right now.
As she stood in front of the stage, frozen, not being able to get any closer, Remus let out a bored sigh, to the people, jogging down the stairs, taking a hold of Cove's arm, as if he was helping her, but she could feel the force of him dragging her onto the stage.
"You know what I have just realised." Remus spoke into the mic, as she stood beside him, looking shell-shocked. "Your brother competed, a few years ago, didn't he?" The man grinned.
Cove's head slowly turned to look at him, her mouth was slightly opened.
"Well, let's hope you have some more luck." He laughed. "Right then, moving on, now, time to pick our male tribute." He left Cove's side to go to the other glass bowl, picking out another name, her ally, or her competition. "Lake Osborne!"
Another 18 year old.
She knew him, and they barely interacted with each other, but when they had, it wasn't always pleasant.
Lake fist bumped the air as he grinned widely, practically skipping onto the stage, the polar opposite of Cove.
The mayor took the spot of Remus, as he said aloud the Treaty or Treason, to the district.
"Your tributes of District 4, Lake Osborne and Cove Tippet, you may shake hands." Remus cheered, as he went back to the mic.
Cove still hadn't moved, her eyes hadn't strayed from her father, in the crowd, until she felt the boy grab her hand, yanking it towards his mouth, as he kissed the back of it.
"Get a hold of yourself." He muttered in disgust, as she blinked at him.
They were then ushered inside the Justice building, one of the fanciest places in the whole of the district, where they would get an hour to say goodbye to their loved ones.
Apart from her father, Cove would be rather surprised if she had any other visitors, and she was only allowed 5 minutes with her only other living parent.
But as time kept ticking on, not a single soul had shown up, not until there was only ten minutes left.
"Manta?" Cove stood up, spotting the owner of shrimps Café, and the tavern, a middle aged woman who she had grown to love a lot. "What are you doing here? Where's my father?"
"Honey." She sighed, taking a seat, urging the girl to, as well. "We tried talking him into coming here, we did, but he couldn't, the poor fella couldn't even speak, it's just too much for him, right now."
"What?" her brows furrowed, as her lip started to pout. "He's not coming? He won't come say goodbye to me?"
"He wants to." Manta brought her into a tight hug, cradling the girl. "I know he does, but he's scared it will be his final goodbye."
"It will." Cove sobbed.
"No! Don't you say that." Manta pulled her off, glaring at her. "You still owe me shows and shifts, don't you dare say that, you're coming back home, even if I gotta drag you back here."
"I-I can't survive this, look at me! I'm not a fighter, or a survivalist."
"Look at what you already have survived, my dear, you are a fighter, and you can survive, you will survive. And whilst you're at it, make amends with that lover of yours, when you're both trapped up in the capital."
"Who? What lover?" Cove shook her head.
"The blond boy, Mr Odair, don't think I don't know about your two's history." The older woman rolled her eyes. "I see everything that goes on around here."
"We're not even friends."
"Well, its universal knowledge about how well he's loved. He's your key to winning, so do whatever you gotta, to win him back over, you got it?"
"Time's up." A peacemaker called through the door.
"You get your ass back here, girl." Manta told her, placing something in her hand, as she was escorted out of the fancy room.
"Look after my father, please, Manta!" Cove called after her. "Please!"
Once the door had closed, again, and she had only 5 minutes left, Cove sat back down with a heavy heart.
She opened her palm, where Manta had placed something in it, inside her hand, was a small seashell, attached to some tight elastic rope, aside it sat a small note.
For when you're missing home, give it a lil listen- Ma
Cove brought the shell to her ear, hearing the sounds of waves, and the wind, the noises that would always remind her of her district.
That must be her token, that every tribute is allowed to bring with them.
She quickly put it on over her head.
And then she was being transported to the awaiting train to the Capitol.
Where her and Lake was made to stand in the doorway, letting the cameras get a good look of their new tributes of District 4.
"Smile." She felt a pinch in her back, as Lake muttered to her, with the side of his mouth.
Cove listened, smiling for the cameras, waving excitedly, as she bid them goodbye.

So, I have a question 🤔 that I think is perfect for this time of year. During your time out in the forest, did you ever encounter or hear anything weird or paranormal? In the Rocky mountains and Appalachian mountains the general rule of thumb is "If you hear something whistle, call your name, no you didn't."
No pressure or anything, I just thought with Halloween coming up sharing spooky stories would be cool.
So I don't have any spooky stories from the tent life unless you count 2 foxes and a bear but that's not supernatural.
The whistling man is a very interesting folklore though, same with skin walkers and wendigos. There are so many interesting indigenous criptids up here
I DID however live beside a graveyard from 15-18 and have some spooky stories from that.
The most jarring one I recall was when I was 16. It was rare I'd sit in the living room rather than my room but I was watching TV with my mom that night. She was crocheting and I was on my phone. But out of nowhere I got the worst sense of dread and panic I've ever felt.
Down to the landing was the front door with a small window on the right side. You could clearly see the graveyard from this window and where I was sitting in the living room was in line with the windrow.
I couldn't explain why but everything in me told me I had to keep my eyes on that window or something bad would happen. Like if I looked away something would come through the door.
My mom went to bed and I didn't tell her what I was feeling because I felt crazy but I also wasn't going to risk looking away
I sat there staring at the window for hours. I was frozen in place, tears streaming down my fave but I just couldn't look away.
Then I swore I saw a face in the window. I still clearly remember it to this day. Long, to the shoulders, black hair. Very shiny but not greasy or wet. It was a man's face. His eyes were normal but it was like he didn't have iris, only the smallest black pupils. They were also extremely blood shot. A larger, hooked nose and thin cracked and pale lips. His smile was haunting. Almost too wide for his face and all the teeth were sharp spikes.
When I blinked they were gone. I sat there the entire night sobbing and refusing to look away from the window until the sun came up
My mom woke up in the morning and saw me like that and when I tried to explain she brushed me off and told me I was being crazy and dramatic
It never happened again after that but I don't think I'll ever forget that night. Even writing it my flight or fight is acting up and when I blink I can see that face
Can't explain it. Maybe I was hallucinating. I have no idea. But I'll never forget it

WIP Wednesday -2023 Mar 15
Outside of my introduction, this is my very first post here. Pressure is on. So, the first thing to know about me is that I often have multiple works in progress at any given time. My brain needs a project that will challenge me and help me learn and I need a project that's for relaxing in front of the tv. Add in the different yarn crafts I am balancing, and it means those 2 pieces have multiplied into many.
WIP Count: 5 3 crochet, 1 knit, 1 Tunisian crochet
In honor of St. Paddy's Day the end of this week, for my WIP for today and my very first post, I'll share the piece that is *mostly* finished. I got lazy in the middle of blocking, so this clover doily hasn't reached final form. Happy Ides of March - I only stabbed partially!
I have a lot of thread inherited and unlabeled, so she is made out of a scrap yarn green, and a metallic silver from Aunt Lydia's, but both are size 10 thread. As much as I love how it looks, the silver is brutal to work with. It's mostly cotton as is typical with crochet thread, but it's also 12% metallic, and the strand within is notoriously scratchy and twists around itself as you work with it. I don't think I could ever make anything with just that thread specifically, but I am eager to use it up through accents like this one. If you can power through it, the effect is beautiful.
I've been using a 1.5mm crochet hook and you can find this pattern by Draiguna/Julia Hart, available here: Shamrock Soiree
I'll take bets on whether I'll have her blocked and finished by St. Paddy's Day. Any takers? No?

Hey, I think you posted some sewing (or crochet?) project a while ago. Do you have a current project? Or is writing and editing a fic taking enough time already?
Hey Nonnie!!
So yeah the one thing you should know about me before I answer is that I have an unconventional work schedule. I work at a touristic site, and we are not open year-round, so I only work 8 months a year. Basically from mid-March (I go back to work tomorrow I'm not ready 😭) to mid-November, I'm super busy with work, pulling long hours with hectic week schedules and a lot of things to think about. And then in the winter I suddenly have four entire months free of work!
So all of this to say that while I spent the past three months or so sewing, reading, writing, trying to learn to whittle (it... did not go well so far hajdhajdhjaa but I want to try again!), I can afford to give my hobbies so much time because I don't work in that time. In general when I work I try to keep up some of my reading, and work on a sewing project when I have the time, but not much else sadly...
So I do have the time to write and edit my fic (which I LOVE by the way like legit this might be one of my favorite stories to write), and do other stuff, for now!!
And yeah anyway I have a big sewing/embroidery project in progress! I'm recreating Mirabel's skirt from the movie Encanto! Making the skirt itself was easy enough but the embroidery is taking forever!!! I'm really enjoying myself though ^^ I haven't done any for the past month cause I was traveling abroad to go see my sister, but here's where I'm at so far:
The front is mostly done (not entirely though cause there's part of it that comes from the back and I need to adjust it according to the space I'll have left), but it still leaves me all of the back where I did only a few designs so far
The thing I like about embroidery is that I can watch a movie or a tv show or a YouTube video while doing it, which is great! The less fun part is that I love reading and that I can't read and embroider at the same time 😭 so I have to choose, like this whole week I read a lot and did not touch the skirt at all haha but I think it's coming along nicely!
The thing I really love about this project in particular is that I never did embroidery before so it's really teaching me a lot of stuff like the best way to do some things, and it's not too hard, cause the original skirt was created as this homemade garment so it's not super hard and amazing détails, it's more rough and big and it's easy to reproduce, if that makes sense?
Anyway thanks for the ask!! Here's Mirabel's actual skirt to give you an idea of where I'm trying to go ^^
#asks#thanks for the ask!!! i hope i didn't bore you to death sjhdkahsjs#feel free to send another ask whenever! ^^#sewing project#sewing stuff

For the RedactedAudios match-up!
What song are you fixated on at the moment?
Cease Cesse by Clou and Slim Pickins Does The Right Thing And Rides The Bomb To Hell by The Offspring, maybe True Trans Soul Rebel (classic lol) by Against Me!
What lyric or verse, and why?
From Promiseland by MIKA- "I kept my promise, man, show me the promiseland"
What is your Enneagram type?
Type 8, followed closely by 3.
Do you love gargantuan Youtube video essays, and if so, which is your favorite and why?
Occasionally, if I'm interested in the topic. I like to learn about things. Personal preference is to watch video essays about the process to make something (eg. Weaving, crocheting, sewing) or about history.
Tell me about your childhood imaginary friend.
I had a fox as my imaginary friend, but barely remember it.
What is your go-to way to fall asleep?
On my front with one pillow. If it isn't silent I'll put headphones in to listen to rain noises.
If you had to change your name, what would it be, and why? (In tandem, if you have changed your name, why did you pick that one?)
I've changed mine for Trans Reasons! If I changed it again I'd like to choose something more adventurous though.
What is your favorite of Redacted’s audios, and why?
Comforted By an Arrogant Incubus and Your Owner Takes Matters Into His Own Hands [Project Meridian]. Gavin's comfort audio is a go-to when I feel down and overwhelmed but I think my favorite lore and audio wise is the latter of my two choices due to the copious metaphors and grey morality of everyone involved.
What Redacted boy holds no appeal to you, and why? Like, not the one you hate but the one who you don’t get the hype for. (I won’t judge, I promise.)
Caelum, if he counts. He's just not my type of character. If not, probably Elliott and Vincent, mostly because their storylines don't interest me.
Tell me about that one book/movie/tv show you know all the words to.
LOTR probably, or maybe I, Robot? For TV it's definitely Hannibal though.
Which Redacted boy are you platonically attracted to? Like- forget dating, which dude do you want to be your best friend?
Mannn, Damien and I would be overachiever besties. I think he'd push me to be my best self and encourage me in my studies.
Do you have a go-to thing you ramble about when you’re tired, and if so, what is it? (For example, my boyfriend knows I’m ready to sleep when I start talking about space.)
Not sure– I don't think so.
Tell me your go-to gas station and drink combo.
I don't really have a go-to but I like Speedway and 7/11. When I buy drinks (rarely) I usually buy lemonade or fizzy water. If I'm sharing it, I'll get a slushie, and if I'm tired I'll buy a coke but I often find both of those too sweet otherwise.
Tell me about your favorite playlist at the moment.
Cannot link them for anonymity purposes but it's a chronological playlist for a character's morality change arc over the course of their story.
What’s your guilty pleasure media, and why?
Mmm, maybe Criminal Minds or reality TV (usually cooking shows, occasionally survivalist ones). I find both of them a bit abhorrent in terms of what they stand for (copaganda, individualism, unexamined colonial co-opting of native aesthetics) but occasionally watch them when I need something which doesn't require a lot of mental energy.
Anything else: I'd consider myself chronically unable to take a break, extroverted, a bit blunt and flirty on accident. Probably socialist or other leftist leanings politically and often fired up about social issues. I care a lot about looks and am always looking to help people around me (unfortunately, sometimes at my own expense). Going into a STEM career. I have a lot of creative hobbies and like working with my hands in my free time.
Thanks for doing this, it's very fun! :)
I’ve said it before, and I’ve said it again. I love to pair a Type Eight with a Type Nine, an extrovert with an introvert, and you know who’s an introverted Type Nine? Lasko heckin’ Moore.
There’s lots of similarities between the two of you that I think makes it work, both big and little things. You’re both trans. (Lasko’s storyline is inherently trans, and Erik himself could not tell me otherwise.) You both love Lord of the Rings and Hannibal. (It’s fun to imagine Lasko having a surprisingly strong mind and stomach for gore despite his nervousness.) You’re both relentlessly passionate about social justice.
In tandem with that, your differences are also why you work so well. Where Lasko hedges and obfuscates, you get straight to the point and speak your mind. Where you, as a Type Eight, might confront and face head on, Lasko mediates and diplomacizes. It’s a wonderfully balanced pair that would keep y’all in check with one another.
Song:
I never knew just what it was about this old coffee shop I love so much/ All of the while I never knew/ All of the while, all of the while/ It was you
I can’t tell you what it is about Lasko, but I just love imagining coffee-shop meet cutes for him. He’d be writing lesson plans or taking notes for his next DnD session. You’d be doing… cool STEM stuff. (I’m a baker; all my science is of the applied, edible kind.) A barista mixes up your drinks, and then boom! Love.
Runner-Ups:
Both you and Aaron have workaholic tendencies, but I could imagine you showing him a creative hobby of your, something handy, would be a lovely bonding experience for the two of you. He seems the type who’d relax better if his hands weren’t idle, you know? Anton, I like because there’s nothing better than a beautiful couple tackling the STEM world together. (I’ve read a lot of Ali Hazelwood; we love a power couple.)
Note: those copaganda shows are surprisingly enjoyable I know
Read this post and send me an ask if you’d like a match-up of your own! 💌

Oh I am watching everything and taking names. Nobody is safe from my fashion takes this weekend, I don't have to work until Tuesday. I could go back and cover whatever I missed if you guys want, was it only the pairs SP?
The women's event was such a struggle in the outfit department. Before I say anything, I'd just like to emphasize that I'm not dragging the girls themselves, most of them are teenagers and we all know what they go through in this fucking sport. No, who I have beef with is the grossly overpaid adults in their lives who are advising them or even outright controlling what they do and wear. I might have to do this in 2 parts, we'll see.
Seoyeong Wi, sigh. There's a reason no one has managed to make a truly successful P&P 2005 program when even Marina tried - the soundtrack is too short and too specific to the scenes (as any good soundtrack should be). They just played a light and bright piece before a tense and very much period-sounding one and called it a day, no transition, no nothing. A composer would have to sit down, deconstruct and have an orchestra re-record a bespoke P&P program for it to work. The dress, while okay, had nothing to do with the theme, and muted neutrals just don't look great against the cool white of the ice and the harsh TV lighting.
Nini, my long-suffering child. Her mom better pray our paths never cross. Wildly inappropriate music choice and opening pose for a 16yo. The outfit I can only describe as goth Coachella. Great body alignment and mechanics into the elements but knowing the expense at which it came kinda ruins it for me. I hope she can be free and fly away one day soon.
Clare - yet another Tammy victim. Why is the V in the front of the dress so sharp and deep when the one on the back is much softer and rounder? What are those bedazzled flowers at the hip and why do they exist? Why the second strap across the hips? The dress is a strawberry macaroon, it does anything but elongate her lines, and the music is equally saccharine. They should've kept her in junior.
I'm so proud of Mana's dress for surviving that tiger attack to be here. No, but seriously, who did this? The color isn't the worst but paired with the black edges and the not-quite-matching mesh, it's a hard miss. Don't even get me started on the music - she was skating through it, not to it, and disappointingly, this wasn't the only case of electronic music that would be playing at a daytime DJ gig in a riverside cafe in any major city in the world rn. It only made sense after I saw her coach wearing a crocheted blanket over a checkered tablecloth.
Hana - god help me. I actually thought the cut was great, it really flattered her figure, but why that color, why that pattern, and most importantly, why the randomly placed black straps? Ka2sh straight to jail for the music choice too, did she even listen to the lyrics? Bury this song next to Big Spender, if you ask me. We've seen so many programs trying to replicate the success of Wakaba's Energia and just falling flat, just give up already, none of you are Shae-lynn or Wakababy.
It's awful that I knew Mone was skating to Dark Eyes as soon as I saw her in the warmup. The top of the dress is at war with the bottom, the sleeve length is truly random, and why are we doing a Russian song this particular season? The top is overbeaded like last year and I was worried it would rip under the arms every time she lifted them. I like the shape, movement and length of the skirt but it's all just sooo outdated, I'm literally begging these coaches to not underserve these talented girls like this.
I'll be back with Part 2 after I put myself through the men's event.
Fasionista nonny!
Agreed on you caveat, I have gotten lots of weird/angry messages from people when I criticize anything about young women's skaters under the guise of 'they are just kids' as if I am attacking them personally just because I think their jump technique is bad.
I think one day a 2005 Pride and Prejudice program will be possible, the music cut just has to be right, as you said. Clare 100% should still be juniors, she wasn't ready for this. I did not understand the Mana dress or music choice, she is not performing to it, the movements don't match the music, there was a weird dissonance on the ice the entire program, she just had a bland smile on her face the whole time. I actually liked Mana's dress, I just wish there was no blue on the bottom, that was weird, should have just made it simple black.

What crafts do you do, if any? Can you knit, or sew, or crochet, or something like that? If so, can you show us some of your work? (*´ ω`*)
I have done bith knitting and crocheting in the past, but not for a long time.
I prefer to hand sew, so most of the time if I'm sewing it's to sew cool patches onto my clothes or patching up a rip, that sort of thing.
I do some embroidery, but I'm not the best at it. I do have at least one picture of that though!
I have, however, recently gotten back into cross stitch! I told my sister that I wanted cross stitch supplies for christmas, and, like the amazing sibling she is, she got them for me!
Here's a tiny poison apple like the one in snow white that I did a few days ago!
#if it requires a needle and some thread then I'll happily do it!#i love doing crafts#mostly because it gives me something to do with my hands#because sometimes you just gotta do something y'know?#i loved to knit and crochet whrn I was like 8 lmao#i remember sitting in front of the tv wih miles and miles of yarn sparwled before me#a crochet hook in hand#i was making a scarf#i was always making a scarf#we had three identical crochet kits for kids#so I was crocheting three idenitcal scarves at once#i don't think i ever finished one#i also sucked at knitting because I would constantly be addjng and dropping stitched and not notice#i would also make my rows super tiny#like too small to even fit on a babydoll#maybe i was making barbie clothes?#it was certainly the right size to be barbie clothes#8 year old me was knitting a sweater for barbie apparently#but i digress#aka#shut up mars

Hi!! I am interested in a ship, please! I love the little scenarios you write for each. you guys are super creative and thoughtful <3 I am a leo sun. I prefer to spend most of my time alone but I am chatty and confident in most group settings, and can make friends pretty easily. Reviews from friends include: I am friendly, I am enigmatic, I have a warm presence, I smell spicy and herbal, I have a kind of childlike quality that makes people feel more comfortable and open, I sometimes say rude things without realizing I've been rude, I am often funny also without realizing I've been funny. My favorite movie is paddington and I also adore star trek. I also love to read (mostly science fiction and philosophy) but I don't really have a favorite book... maybe the lord of the rings ? but that's three... My favorite genre of music is folk but I can and will get into almost anything. I like to dress comfortable and androgynous most of the time: boxy t-shirts or sweaters, straight leg jeans/pants, and low-heeled boots. but sometimes if I'm feeling fancy or feminine I'll go in for a skirt or dress. Just nothing that clings or needs loads of adjusting or else I'll go insane about it. My favorite item of clothing is my pale green and blue pair of socks with white ducks on them. My hobbies include cooking, gardening, logic puzzles, smoking oui'd in the bath, mathematics (I know it's weird but I'm having fun), swimming, guitar, and singing. I'm also learning (very slowly) to crochet. I also like to just sit around and read/watch tv, like many people. I like routine and living at my own pace, and I get burnt out easily if I am busy or if there are a lot of changes in my life in a short period. To me, the most attractive/important traits in people are insightfulness, compassion, confidence, and truthfulness. My love languages are quality time and physical touch. My ideal date is something like a zoo or aquarium, or a natural history museum, followed by a casual meal at a cafe or something. I love you!
Hey there!
❤: Let me just start by saying, mathematics is not a weird hobby. I got 2 degrees in it, I'm not judging. I think you have great taste, too. Lord of the rings? Literal perfection. Socks with ducks? I love it. You love Star Trek? Amazing. Like you literally sound so cool. So obviously I ship you with me.
Ship: Josh
Because: If the only thing I knew about you was that your love language was physical touch, Josh is your man. But I also think he is the most confident and most compassionate. I think you'd make a great pair. He would love to cook with you, he'd probably be so impressed by your green thumb, and he would love to listen to you play the guitar and sing. I think you definitely have a creative energy about you that he would fall hard for.
Scenario:
We're gonna pretend like Josh has a clawfoot tub in his house even though I'm sure he does not. But it's ~for the ambiance~.
You loved taking baths at Josh's house
Of course you loved everything about being at Josh's house, namely the fact that he was there, but baths at his house were superior for one particular reason
The tub
It was a deep, white porcelain tub standing on four golden ornate feet
The surrounding bathroom only added to the spa-like feel, too
Sage green paint on the walls, deep brown heated tiles on the floor, a large mirror across from the tub framed in little golden roses, leafy plants filling up most of the empty spaces, and a little wooden stool right next to the tub
It was arguably the most relaxing room in his house and Josh knew how much you loved it
In fact, he had even bought a wooden tray that slotted across the tub so you could read, have a glass of wine, set up your tablet and watch Netflix, all from the comfort of a warm bath
And that's where you were today, sunk down into the deep tub, covered with bubbles, a book resting on the tray in front of you
The sound of Josh singing to himself elsewhere in the house was comfortable background noise for your reading
You did note, however, when the singing got closer and closer, until Josh was standing in the doorway of the bathroom
"How's it going in here?" he asked
You shot him a smile, telling him how relaxed you were
He entered the room and moved the stool to the head of the tub so he could sit behind you
His hands traveled up into your hair which was thrown up into a loose bun and he pulled the scrunchie out, letting your hair fall
He worked his fingers into it, lightly massaging your scalp and playing with your hair
You hummed and closed your eyes, letting the feeling overtake you
"Any requests tonight, mama?" he asked
Josh would sometimes serenade you with your song of choice
You thought for a moment before deciding on one from his own discography, Broken Bells
He began an a cappella version of the song, singing it much softer and slower than normal
You sank a little lower into the hot water, letting his hands continue in your hair as he sang softly to you
Maybe it wasn't, in fact, the tub you loved. Maybe it was just Josh
I hope you liked it! Thank you for the request!

i get that the no one saying "vampire" on Crochet island is funny, it is, we know it, and "sir that is a whole ass nosferatu" is a classic but also
i think it ultimately speaks to the depths of fear and disillusionment and desperation that permeate the community that is personified in Father Paul. they are at such a low point that this angel, despite its terrifying appearance, is the answer to an incredibly desperate, fearful prayer

Father Paul loves Baseball ⚾
How do we know this? Let's explore the set:
1) An old baseball mitt on his TV next to the front door.
There's more interesting stuff in this room that I'll create a couple more posts about, so stay tuned.

@blackcatanna 4 out of 4 baby!! Sharon is getting her own post coz I have so many emotions
Violet- 10/10
The first time we met, she called my outfit a total TOOT and getting that from the fashion queen- I just about laid down and died.
Not as intimidating as she seems on tv and the performances are complete perfection.
2015/2016
Tammie Brown- 10/10
Tammie is Tammie, living on Planet Tammie and doing whatever the hell she wants. There is something so joyous about that and it radiates off of her when she's performing.
This was at a multi-queen meet&greet, so they're stationed all over the room and you get into line to meet who you want. Tammie's line moved the slowest coz she was taking so much time to talk to everyone. She was telling me about her plans of where she was gonna visit while she was in Sydney.
2016
Katya- 10/10
This was my 2nd time meeting Katya and it was such a fabulous experience. My gf had been desperate to meet Katya but the meet&greets sold out in about two seconds. So we tried our luck at grabbing her before the show, which is never a guarantee, coz sometimes the promoters can be like 🤺🤺 stay away from the talent!
Katya got out of the car and we jumped into her line of sight. My gf was wearing a handmade recreation of Katya's ugliest dress runway, which she saw and commented on and she was like 'I'll see you guys at the meet&greet'.
When we said we didn't have meet&greet tickets, she stopped walking and took a few minutes to smoke her cigarette and talk to us.
I twirled around and leapt about in front of her and said 'I'm a mountain-biking vampire witch from the future'. She was amazed that my gf had crocheted the dress coz hers was found at a thrift shop.
She did not have to do that, to stop and talk to us- she had hours of being on and in character ahead of her. But she did and that is so admirable.
2017 - note the eyepatch 😜
#me+rugirls#i need a few hours to speak on my love sharon#we'll get there#violet gets 10/10 even though she told me that i couldn't be buried in her gown from bob's crowning

Second Year of Uni!!
so i was tagged by @felix-studies for this meme and ur supposed to tag 5 other studyblrs but i literally do Not know that many studyblrs that HAVEN'T done the meme so let's go
Courses
my college has changed things up a bit due to current events, so some of my courses are online and some (the morning ones) are lectures 😔 i'm at the maximum number of credits allowed by my uni, and if i could take more classes (one-credit private music lessons) i would. as is i'm probably going to be putting in two or three additional hours a day just practicing for the one-credit class i DO have, but here we go
Bio Concepts w/ Lab (lecture, 8am lab, needed for prereqs)- 3 credits
Chromatic Music Theory (lecture, first class of the day EXCEPT on Thursday, love the prof)- 3 credits
Chromatic Music Theory Skills (online, coreq for theory, still probably gonna be in the music hall more often than not)- 1 credit
Elementary Latin (lecture, already have the textbook, mad hype)- 3 credits
Guitar Ensemble (lecture, kinda scared of the prof even though he's a chill dude bc i have a lot of room for improvement in guitar and it sucks to disappoint him)- 1 credit + practice time
Intermediate German I (online, prof is cool, does not require a textbook)- 3 credits
Soc & Anthropo Linguistics (online, love the prof)
because so many of the classes are online, hopefully i won't completely die during midterms and finals week like i did my first semester.
scheduling
my lecture classes are all early-ish in the morning, except for ensemble, which is in the evening. unfortunately my bio class is right after my theory & skills classes, so i cant just skulk in the music hall practice rooms last semester. hopefully i CAN snag a locker for my guitar so i dont have to drag it all over campus like That Guy (i was That Guy last semester). bc i'll be up earlier, i'll be able to do my online studies earlier in the day too, which is good. my music and german professors adjusted really well to the online curriculum, so i don't expect any problems on that front, but I Can Work With even professors that are allergic to the online platform my college uses. i'll be living on campus because Most of my classes Are lectures and my uni is a solid two hours away from home, and frankly NO 8am prerequisite lab is worth that.
Life Outside of Studies
i JUST got done with two online summer classes, so i have a solid MONTH to relax and recoup before the 18-credit fall grind. i've been healing really well from my top surgery, so my surgeon has cleared me for swimming and working out again 🥰
i'll be using my free time to read for pleasure, catch up on some TV shows (i watch at a GLACIAL pace), get back on the guitar-practicing wagon, and do some knitting and crochet.
speaking of crochet, i'd like to show off the wizard hat i made for funsies back in may! it's a pattern of my own design, and future versions will have wider brims (i ran out of yarn rip) but it holds its shape really well without felting or extra reinforcement!
any college is wizard college with the appropriate headgear!

Date: 09/01/2022
Did I complete yesterday's task?
... Yeah, I got everything done and it was pretty exhausting, so I spend the rest of the day in front the tv and did some rows on my blue crochet top.
What task will I do today?
... I need to clean my bunny's space. Today the weather is really foggy, so there isn't any sunlight and it'll be hard to see the difference between the fresh white paint and the old white wall. Nevertheless I'll try my best and paint the other two walls today.
What task am I planning for tomorrow?
... On Thursday I plan to visit my two online lectures, chemistry and english. I hope I'll listen better and take more notes than last time.
