Dc x Dp Prompt #3: Of Apples and Academic Frenemies

Au where Jason and Danny are attending the same college course on mythology and classical literature and they are always getting into debates about the depictions of the characters and the historical context of stories and stuff bc the both have a different exposure to the myths. Like Jason knows literal demigods and Amazons but Danny knows Pandora and the Greek myth related ghosts plus time travel from Clockwork and the infi-map. The debates can get heated at times but the respect each others intellectual takes.

This creates a peculiar situation where everyone in the class thinks they are academic rivals who hate each other (except for the few with their shipping goggles on and sense the homoerotic tension underlying their debates) and are deeply invested in watching them interact like their own personal drama even thought at this point in time they are at best friendly acquaintances and at worst annoying classmates.

Jason rants to his family about his debate partner/rival bc he’s happy to have some who will talk to him ad-nauseam abt this stuff but also bc he wants to complain about how Danny's a “smart but annoying little twink who’s got some real audacity”. And while the batfam is happy that Jason is experiencing some normal life things like an academic frenemy they’d love to stop hearing about this guy's “smug fucking smirk” and the “annoying gleam in his eyes". They are worried that Jason will snap and beat this guy up for being too annoying. Well, except Tim who thinks Jason would rather make out with this guy than debate with him.

One day the course decides to do a big themed party/fundraiser to save up for a class trip to an excavation site of some temple ruins or something. Both of them volunteer for the organizing committee bc of the offered extra credit. This encourages the two of them to start seeing each other more and to hang out outside of their classes so the can work on event planning. Over time they actually become pretty good friends (Danny's presence filters Jason's toxic ecto and cures pit rage due to increased exposure. It was happening anyways as classmates but the close proximity sped up the process) and Jason and Danny develop mutual crushes on each other.

For the event they do, like an Olympic games style format and have people sign up in teams for events a couple of weeks beforehand. Anyone in any sort of classical/mythology related course can join and they opened the event for public spectating. They have a few traditional events like a foot race, long jump and chariot race. But the also have some silly ones like Medusa's Snakes, where they shove their faces into bowls of whipped cream and fish out gummy worms, Pandora's Amphora, where they stick there hands into a box/jar of mystery contents (grapes, slime, a live animal like rats or kittens, a bunch of glitter, soda, etc.) and whoever keeps their hand in the longest wins, and Gladiator Fights, where they try to knock each other into a foam pit with those foam and rubber jousting sticks and the such.

Neither Danny, nor Jason want to participate for fear of their physical/supernatural abilities being discovered so the both get talked into doing the emceeing and commentary for the events. They make a really good duo, snarking and bantering with each other, playing off each other's energy and providing fun commentary to the events. Everyone, including the batfam who came to spectate, is a bit baffled by how well they are getting along bc last they checked these two were rivals of a sort, mildly annoying at best and actively antagonistic at worst. However, they really seem to be enjoying themselves.

The last event of the day is a trivia contest, which they both decide to take part in and let someone else take over the emceeing. The final winning trivia question is "what trope was falsely understood as a marriage proposal or declaration of love by misinformed media, that was actually closer to a ploy of seduction and indication of sexual desire according to Greek texts" and the both ring in at the same time to say "tossing an apple to someone" and an tie for the win. They both go up on stage to receive the prize (idk a gift card or smth) and shake hands before walking away in opposite directions.

Then suddenly Danny calls out to Jason just before he leaves the stage and chucks an apple he seemingly produced out of nowhere at him. The apple has a note with the time and date of a dinner reservation on it and when Jason looks back up at Danny he see the slightly flushed boy tentatively smiling at him.

" What do ya say Jase? Will you go out with me?"

And instead of replying Jason just straight up kisses him in front of everyone. Everyone else is gobsmacked by this whole turn of events except Tim who's cackling his head off, screaming "I FUCKING KNEW IT". When the two of them break apart they grin at each other widely and Jason drags Danny of the stage presumably to go make out somewhere.

now, we're all well aware of his drinking habits. it's a fun past time for him, and it helps him relax

one night, he tried to drink around you, and was admittedly very surprised when you didn't want to

if you two go back home, he'll immediately start to pamper you. he wants you to remember that you don't owe him anything. that you aren't a child stuck as a parent

he knows you weren't exactly abused or anything, but he's still careful with his touches regardless, only wanting you to be comfortable

expect gentle massages and light kisses. he'll praise you on how well you're doing, no matter if you're freaking out, or if you're just calm

similar to scara, gorou only drinks for polite reasons, or if there's something to celebrate. he never goes too far

tommy spent a lot of time alone growing up so he can solve a rubik’s cube in like absolute record time. for some reason buck finds this just… so hot. he loves it when his man is capable and confident. (and he loves his hands.)

tommy doesn’t necessarily mind being alone because he is so used to it - spending christmas alone, watching love actually and cooking just for himself doesn’t make him sad. he’s certainly not someone who feels sorry for himself. but when he does have people around him? oh god he loves it so much. he loves taking care of people he loves loving people and he loves it when he gets the same right back.

buck is not a huge fan of muay thai either but he still learns a little bit - mostly because he likes seeing tommy all hot and sweaty (and capable) in as many situations as possible (and yes it always ends in sex, in fact i think eventually “muay thai” stops meaning muay thai altogether. it’s just code for dicking each other down.)

buck loves running his fingers through tommy’s hair and tommy loves it when he does it. after a bad day, he’ll just walk in through the door and drop himself on the couch with his head in buck’s lap.

a few years ago tommy went to the animal shelter to maybe get a cat cause he was a little lonely, but he came home with an irish wolfhound and he named her keira because bonus hc: keira knightley is his favorite actress. (buck and keira take to each other immediately, and since buck does more cardio than tommy, he takes up a habit of running with her whenever he has time - usually in the morning, dropping a kiss to a half-asleep tommy’s temple as he tells him he’ll be back in a bit.)

tommy loves buck’s ass (what he sees, i don’t know, there is literally nothing there) but by the time they’ve been together for a few months, he’s comfortable enough to stop holding back, and he’ll just fucking live down there. often it’s sexual but sometimes it’s also not - sometimes they’re having a sick or lazy day, watching the tv in tommy’s bedroom, and buck is fully dressed in sweatpants and a hoodie, and he always ends up on his stomach so tommy can use his non-existent ass as a pillow.

they shut keira out of the room when they fuck, but when they’re done they always let her back in to sleep in bed and she takes up 85% of the space but that’s okay ❤️

tommy meditates and buck tries too but his brain moves too quickly it doesn’t really work for him. when meditation doesn’t work for tommy either - he smokes. it’s a terrible habit left over from rebellious teenage years and stressful time in the closet, and he’s done a good job kicking it, but sometimes buck kisses him, and he can smell it on his breath and he just. sighs. and runs a hand through his hair and asks if he wants to talk abt it.

the longer they’re together the more “cracks” start to show in tommy, i think he’s a lot better at hiding it than buck is - but he struggles not only with ptsd, but with depression and anxiety and he has worked on himself and continues to do so, but he still keeps a lot of that stuff to himself - it takes a while but when buck starts opening up more, tommy slowly starts to do the same, and evan is the first person he feels he can truly rely on and trust, and he’s never really had that before, never felt as if he can be all of himself with someone - not like this.

tommy is plant dad. he has so many plants and he takes such good care of them, and of course, since buck loves learning things, it quickly becomes a shared hobby. their monstera is their pride and joy.

tommy drinks his coffee with so many extra shots of espresso that buck usually makes a little bit of a face when he kisses him right afterwards.

tommy has a lot of small skills he’s kinda good at but not really but kind of (usually, again, born out of boredom and/or loneliness) painting, baking bread, playing the harmonica. he knows how to do these things, but whether or not his own results will be great is… a toss up. however combined with buck’s love of learning and adhd brain, they learn a lot more small skills together. kind of. for a while. until they drop it and move onto the next thing.

tommy is really good at playing the guitar and the first morning buck wakes up in his bed, he asks him about it, and he plays for him. until buck wrestles it out of his hands and puts it to the side because his boyfriend is even hotter now and he needs to get dicked down again thanks. (when they’re done, buck asks tommy to teach him and they end up doing the classic “hands over hands” move and it’s very cute but tommy keeps pressing soft little kisses to bucks shoulder and telling him he’s doing so good and it’s hngggggg… very distracting.)

tommy used to be on the swim team in high school.

tommy is indeed abby’s tommy cause i think it’s funny. it throws them both off a little bit but then tommy says something so smooth that buck forgets all about it. it doesn’t matter. they are each other’s now, fuck her. high: charlie finally registers that he's trans after forgetting theres a health class 1 day and not being able to skip it. throws him for a loop a bit but he becomes actively invested in his goals. he gets to start T and wants to have surgeries. college (aged): able to surgically transition (ty medicare) and continues on with life as we kno him now

as a transmasc nb who came out young nd prefers to be seen as just A Guy by strangers, i grew up v vehemently against anything girly that might get me misgendered, but th more i began to 'pass,' th more @ home n my body i felt, th more and more comfortable i am w femininity, th more i wdnt mind putting on a dress, as long as th general public wd see me as "a man in women's clothes." n my mind, i prescribe something not exactly th same but v similar to charlie.

i see charlie "i dont really identify" kelly as afab and nb. i see joyce as a "character" he originally created to distance himself from the dysphoria of putting on a dress as a young trans boy, but that became part of him as the hard lines he drew in the sand as a child became blurry with age and self acceptance. charlie's comfort with himself allows joyce to evolve into a more solid persona, one he enjoys embodying and allowing to become a permanent facet of who he is. he's ok with being referred to as either. they're both him.

So first thing's first, I'm gonna address-

This, which I feel like is the most notable instance of Wally’s reaction to Roy’s heroin addiction (funnily enough, another mutual sent me a DM about these exact panels a few days ago- we’re on a streak with these). Now, it’s important to note that these panels were from Titans (2008), specifically #23, which was one of the comics leading up to Rise of Arsenal and, later, Roy teaming up with Deathstroke in this same series. At this point in time, Roy was already in the hospital and Lian was already dead- he just hadn’t woken up yet. Now, I don’t have any sources to back up that this is what DC was actually trying to do so I’m just talking from my observations, but this issue in particular very heavily focused on trying to alienate Roy- particularly, a teen Roy who didn’t have Lian yet. Almost all of the flashbacks, and even a few bits of dialogue outside of the flashbacks, are very derogatory towards Roy. See:

Yeah. Just in general, very not nice towards him. It tries to paint him as someone who doesn’t belong with the rest of the team, an outcast (which is just bullshit considering they literally made Roy a Justice League member a few years earlier for the exact opposite reason). A little side note- one of the flashbacks in the issue is a continuation to the ending of Teen Titans: Year 1 #5, a comic which was far more enjoyable than this one, and I wish we’d gotten an actual resolution to that little storyline inside of Year 1 instead of… whatever this is. Anyway, back to #23, at the end of the issue there is one little scene wherein we see Wally and Roy actually getting along in a flashback, and it’s when Lian’s introduced. Which, if you remember what’s just happened at that point in time and what’s going to happen in the Rise of Arsenal arc… yeah, you can see why they wanna push the narrative that Roy’s friends only liked him after Lian was born, particularly Wally.

So! Lets’s rewind back to the 60s and see Roy and Wally’s relationship pre-retcon, both pre and post Snowbirds.

Roy and Wally’s first interactions in the original Teen Titans series were generally pretty positive! Particularly when Roy was a “guest star” instead of an official member, Wally expressed a lot of respect for him and genuinely enjoyed working with him

The main problem with their relationship came from, as most problems do, a love triangle. In all honesty, the Roy Donna Wally love triangle is one of my least favourite Titans things- it’s just kinda unnecessary. However, at least in most instances, in the original Teen Titans run this triangle wasn’t particularly aggressive- in fact, the most aggressive Roy ever got over Donna was actually with Hawk, not Wally. Titans (2008) definitely played it up a lot more than it ever was previously, especially on Wally’s end. But the love triangle was definitely more of a Big Issue between them than Roy’s addiction- when Roy returns to the Titans post-Snowbirds, Wally’s concerns have nothing to do with his addiction but more on “0h great, Roy’s back so I don’t get a shot with Donna”

Generally speaking, Wally and Roy do have a pretty close relationship most of the time, especially when they reach adulthood. The only instance that comes to mind immediately where Wally talks about Roy’s drug addiction prior to pre-Rise era is in Teen Titans (1996) #13, and even that is not particularly negative and also not spoken aloud (though there may be more I haven’t considered)

And even in the Gargoyle issues of Titans 1999 where tensions are at an all time high, Wally’s the Titan Roy has the least significant issues with- going just off of memory the only real “conflict” between them was Wally’s single remark of “he’s not even an original member” and the very brief revival of the Roy-Donna-Wally love triangle for a panel.

I might be forgetting some things (to be perfectly honest, of all of Roy’s Fab Five relationships Wally is the one I think about the least), but generally speaking all the conflict between Roy and Wally surrounding Roy’s addiction was fabricated in Titans 2008. Why Wally? Not sure. But yeah, they’re buddies :)

A/N: Quick drabble cause halloween😭 i had nothing big planned tbh. Also barely proofread as of rn i got too much school stuff to worry abt to proofread good or make that masterlist 💀 so sorry guys but anyways Happy Halloween!

Summary: The crews first halloween together!

- Logan never really celebrated halloween. I mean this guy saw the holiday become what it is now. But he never went trick or treating and even as he got older he’s always had other things to worry about.

- Wade was the same (the never celebrating halloween thing not being old enough to see Halloween come to america)

- Both of them had tough childhoods.

- Wade went to a few halloween parties and dressed up but his heart was never fully in it (other than that year he had with Vanessa..)

- This year instead of it being just him and althea now he has her, Logan, mary puppins AND laura.

- He felt…more excited? This year?

- He really wanted to show Logan around his universe and celebrate all these holidays with him. And even though Laura was older she actually wanted to go trick or treating still just to experience it.

- “Peanut, you have to step up and at least take her to a few houses!” Wade said to Logan at dinner.

- “She ain’t my daughter or responsibility, bub. Ion gotta do shit.” Logan snapped as he took a swig of his beer. “Plus, ain’t she a bit too old for that shit anyways? We can buy her candy at the damn store.”

- “Logan…we have an opportunity here to change her life! Give her a good memory just once!”

- “Fuck off.” Logan looked away.

- Wade thought a moment. “Okay…if you take her to..” he thinks for a second, “Take her to 5 houses and i won’t talk for a whole day!”

- Logan looked at Wade but didn’t move his head.

- “Okay. 5 days.”

-“Deal.”

- “Wanna shake on it?” Wade stretched out his hand but Logan declined.

- “I knew you were scratching your balls under the table, Wade”

- “Oh.”

- Wade helps Laura pick a costume and left Al to decorate and Logan to watch her decorate.

- “That’s upside down yknow.” Logan said looking at the Halloween poster on the wall.

- “No. I don’t know. How could i know? You’re just as dumb as that idiot.” Al joked as she turned the poster right side up.

- Logan just shook his head and looked out the window. Kids were already walking around with parents and going around. Wade said he might be late getting back and to just “hand out the candy to the kiddies, peanut.”

- He grumbled. No one showed up yet.

- Deep down he felt a twinge of sadness over not getting to experience this. It was very small. He actually liked halloween as time went on because it was the one night mutants could be mutants and not get judged…

- The door bell rings which snaps him from looking out the window. Al yells at him to get the door. It was probably Wade and Laura finally.

- It was not.

- “Trick or treat!!”

- A small ghost and a slightly taller Princess hold up semi filled pumpkin buckets. The princess smiles widely the ghost of course was emotionless.

- “Hey…there….” Logan said quietly. He was not good with damn kids. No no no. Nope. He almost closed the door and said fuck it but the princess started to look confused.

- “Hey, mister where’s our candy?”

- “Right….” Logan gets some candy and pours it into the kids pumpkins. “Okay…..run along now.”

- The kids run off giggle to the next door across the hall from the apartment. Logan sighed and closed the door.

- Another kid came alone a few minutes later. They were dressed up as sabertooth and for some reason this scared logan enough to accidentally draw his claws.

- “Shit- Sorry kid. Didn’t mean to-“ Logan rubbed his hand where the claws came out and but the kid to his surprise wasn’t scared…he didn’t run off to tell anyone he found a mutant…

- “Are those…real?” The kid asked point at his hand.

-“Oh…no..it’s my..costume. Yeah. Yeah, i’m that wolverine guy..” Logan lied.

- The kid beamed. “Wow! That’s awesome!”

- “Thanks kid. Y’want come candy?” Logan picked out he bowl but the kid shook his head.

- “That was way cooler than candy…can i see it again? Can you do it again? Pleaseeee?”

- Logan slowly drew out his claws as the kid looked shocked. “Wow wow wow! They look so real! You’re cool! Can i touch one?”

- Logan let him and told him to be careful.

- The kid started to leave and Logan waved him goodbye. Maybe kids aren’t so bad after all…

- Right when the kid left Wade and Laura came around the corner.

- “See you’re great with kids!” Wade said as he slow clapped.

- “Whatever..” Logan brushed it off, just this once. He was in a good mood right now..

- Logan complimented Lauras costume and let her lead the way as she was actually excited for once. She smiled up at him as they walked the neighborhood and went to definitely more than 5 houses. She talked about the other Logan and how she missed him and how grateful she was for him to take her to do this.

- “No problem, kid.” Logan just said. “Ready to head back?”

- Laura’s pillowcase was full now and also heavy so Logan had it. It was so full you couldn’t even close it anymore.

- She nodded as they walked back home.

- Wade wanted to join but he decided to stay back and let Logan and Laura have their time.

- Also he had to take over handing out candy duty since Al kept dropping candy in the floor, missing kids buckets and pillow cases.

- Halloween music played now and orange and black balloons filled the apartment along with a couple of random Halloween themed decor. Wade finished decorating for Al also because a lot of stuff was in the wrong spot.

- “Al way did you put the front door mat by the bathtub?? And what-? Why is the string of orange lights covering the couch and not the wall? And..why is Mary puppins not in her wolverine costume???”

- When Logan and Laura got back laughing Wade smiled. “Looks like you two had fun!”

- “Yeah, and we went to more than 5 houses too so now you have to shut up for 100 days.” Logan joked.

- “Yeah, so that was not part of the deal…”

- “Too bad. Shutting up time starts now.”

- Laura laughed and handled Wade his favorite candy. “It’s okay..take this. I’ll convince him to shorten you sentence.”

- Wade just nodded sadly and ate the candy.

- As the night came to an end, the family decided to watch a couple of scary movies and share Laura’s candy. Laura got scared for a moment when she saw Mary puppins secretly got into some of the Hersey pile but Wade soon reminded her, “She’s a deadpool remember? She’ll be fine…”

- “Oh right..”

- Logan quickly stabbed him with one claw barking, “Hey! No talking remember?!”

- Wade mouthed, “Geez..” And rubbed where he got stabbed but said nothing else.

- The night ended with Logan passed out drunk(he’d forget the deal he and Wade made by morning for sure), Wade falling asleep next to him, Al going to her room after the first movie ended, Laura falling asleep at the end of the couch on Logan’s other shoulder, and Dogpool sleeping in a pile of chocolate candy wrappers…

i made like a highschool/modern lost trio/valgrace au so heres it. okay so basically, leo and piper are childhood best friends. since they were like three. they were neighbors and stuff. well when leos house burned down and his mother died, he went to live with piper and her dad. and they lived tg like siblings. leo had a stuffed animal that had a matching pair. his mother had the matching one but it unfortunately burned (leo still kept the remains tho). so off to highschool, in the car there leo is looking out the window. piper is arguing with her dad. “dad can you please not go out? i dont want people swarming us!” leo, sees this REALLY CUTE guy talking to someone (its reyna) but he doesnt say anything. he loves pipers dad and sees him as a guardian but hes still iffy abt dads since his left. now him and piper are walking in the halls and piper sees jason. shes like “oh my gosh, leo, i have never seen such a beautiful man before.” and leo being the guy that he is, supports her. well then they have a freshman relationship. leo gets close with jason since hes over a bunch. at lunch, leo, jason, piper, and other people sit at a table. well technically its just the lost trio but other girls and guys join them bc one; piper is absolutely gorgeous and everyone wants to either, be her or get with her. (she has perfect skin and hair (leo has acne and can barely take care of his curls)) so piper is like forced to talk to them but she tries to talk to jason and leo. well while piper is busy with the others, jason and leo talk. leo is yapping and jason is listening.

okay so now its like end of freshman and piper and jason break up. piper is chill abt it and so is jason. so they have a sleepover. when leo first moved in he had really bad separation anxiety and he and piper shared a bed (at first, mr mclean was iffy about this but then he realized that they were basically siblings so he didnt care) but he had an extra room his kept for leo in case he ever wanted to like move out and stuff. (he does eventually cuz once they start having other ppl over it was a bit embarrassing) so thalia is aroace in this (she looks after jason) shes like “could u please ask to like share a room with leo.” “why?” “well piper is ur ex and it would be awkward also, girl stuff” so jason does. well once jason comes over and leo shows him the room they will be sharing, he forgot to hide the stuffed animal he sleeps with (he cant sleep without it) and jason is like “…i have the other matching one.” (backstory time: he and thalia have the same matching stuffed animals that leo does w his mom and jason has the one leos mom did) and jason cant sleep without his. SO THEY HAVE MATCHING STUFFED ANIMALS. and then once jason leaves in the morning or wtv, leo is like “piper. i think i like jason” and then yk piper is SUPER supportive.

okay so more going back in time. once mr mclean like basically forced leo to his own room since they both were getting older and could barely share a bed, he allowed them to have sleepovers on the weekends (also that both leo and piper got zero sleep cuz they would js be laughing all night) and yk thats when they would have those deep talks. thats when piper came out to leo and leo came out to piper.

piper and shel now. piper and shel are also childhood best friends. piper was born in olkahoma then moved to LA cuz of her dad. (leo was born in texas (i believe) then moved to LA cuz of his mom) shel and piper were like besties in olkahoma. well when piper moved away her and shel stayed in contact. and so then, once leo and jason started dating she was like (during one of those deep sleepover talks) “i think i like shel” then they started dating

its been awhile since i went back to my dimension im 17 now and i know how to use my Spidey abilities now its easy for me. When i got back from my dimension i had forgotten how i forgot to tell anyone where i was i froze in panic and swing home to see what had happened when i had left to go save the world. I had reached my room it was still the same everything where i left it at but there was a box on my bed i wanted to open it but just then i heard a voice come from the door so i turned invisible so they wouldn’t see me. they came into my room it was my twin brother carter he came into my room and looked at it with sadness wanting to know where i was but i couldn’t tell him where i was right before he was about to head out i glitched out my body ached with the pain and i groaned in annoyance i hadn’t realized that i had un-invisible myself and that he could see me now. Carter heard the sound and froze in fear i had not realized and got up in pain and limped to the bed and lied down groaning carter had fulled turned around and saw me in my suit he screamed and i looked up so fast at him to find out he was looking right at me so i screamed but then i got up and ran to him and put my hand on his mouth and my free hand hovering over my lips like this 🤫 he calmed down and i told him everything

after i changed and did my hair ans finished my lip gloss i wanted to go on a walk to clear my head abt were i was and how i got there. I yelled out to my twin brother “carter im going out for a bit text me if u need something ok?” “alright if u go to the drug store can u get me some empanadas and an Arizona please” damn he is really like my brother in my dimension i said in my head. “alright bye” i walked out of the building and locked the door when i see and kid my age talking to this older man about something the kid had braids and wore a a big snow jacket while the other guy was bald and was wearing a black leather jacket and black pants. my spidey hearing allowed me to ease drop on their conversation they were talking about a kid and what they were going to do with him. i was thinking and my spidey sense went off i knew that i had to do something it was a good thing i still had my spider suit on underneath they looked at me as i was walking by i was going to follow them after a few minutes they came out on got into a car. i was already in my spider suit and swan after them making sure they weren’t able to see me as i was following them i notice that this city was horrible there were fires, robberies, everywhere and it was like they had no spider man there

my universe had 2 spider people me and sam (idk who that is but i made him up) our city was perfect while theirs were like this i felt bad when all of a sudden i seen them get out of the car and go to a building it looked like no one was inside so i turned on my invisible and came down to a open window. as i was about to go in i seen this kid tied up to a punching bag unconscious i looked closer and saw that it was miles i ran straight in there and walked to him i tried to get him to wake up but it didn’t work. right then something hit me in the back of my head and everything went black.

i watched all of higurashi gou and the end of sotsu. i will post my review

(HIGURASHI SPOILERS, NOT JUST FOR GOU/SOTSU BUT FOR THE VN AS WELL)

these are my thoughts after watching gou, just copy-pasted from discord.

i think the actual worst thing abt gou is the fact that its not unwatchable. it does have some interesting parts, and i am a huge sucker for the antics the main crew gets up to. but in general its disrespectful? like to satoko especially. i can believe that her and rika drift apart a bit at st lucia, but rika is too committed to making sure everything is good forever, i really doubt she would just like not talk to satoko sure i can see satoko being like no im fine i dont need any help but rika knows her. she would know thats a lie and they'd talk it out overall its very dedicated to making satoko be really dense.

and the same for sotsu

honestly, i think the loops/eua didnt need to happen at all. in fact, in my head, none of it was canon. even the ending felt pretty dumb of like "oooohhh, we're the only 2 looping entities, we gotta avoid each other foreverrrr" like man shut up. its trying to hard to be toxic yuri but it just sucks bc its 2 characters that shouldnt be going thru that. what i CAN believe is like. either satoko and rika going to st lucia, getting into a physical fight over it, coming to terms with the fact satoko doesnt like it and its hurting her so she transfers from there to the normal high school the others went to. OR them getting in a fight over it beforehand and agreeing to go their separate ways to 2 different schools. eua felt completely pointless honestly. the loops were so... nothing. also i feel a little weird abt the teppei redemption. not that he cant change and stuff but yknow............................ also they literally remembered satoshi so last second and threw him in there HNFDKHDFNK "oh im awake now!!! :D" its been 4 years man the fight scene where they go thru different loops was pretty cool i guess. kind of felt waaaay over the top though when they went super saiyan miko mode. its cool for what it is, but also, it feels so excessive based on everything else in higurashi. honestly gou/sotsu probably wouldnt be.......... horrible? if it were its own anime and the vns didnt exist. but they do and so these just kind of.... really tarnish them imo. which is why i dont consider that shit canon. also its just weirdly abusive to hanyuu for no reason. idk what thats all about. she literally only got to have 1 good moment the whole fucking series. wadda hell man. the only good things i think gou brings to the table is a peek into their futures a bit, like what happens after w their middle/high school lives. the rest of that stuff didnt need to happen though im thinking abt it all and how little the main cast really got to talk to satoko and rika thru all this shit. when it came to that plot, its like the rest of them didnt even matter. you're telling me rena wouldnt pick up on satokos feelings and talk to her abt it??? how they wouldnt like try to figure out whats going on at all? its stupid. it focuses way too much on rika and satoko, neglecting the importance of the others. ultimately, i know why this anime was made and what its purpose is. i know its to appeal to the much larger audience of higurashi fans anime onlys that were in it for the cute girls killing each other. it was trying to do stuff for the vn readers as well, but it just fell flat bc in the end none of that shit needed to happen. i know its stupid to criticize a story on what should or shouldnt have happened, but you know. knowing what i DO abt the characters and how the vn stresses the importance of talking to your friends to work out your problems... it just, sucks that they threw that all away in favor of a ton of gore. at the end of the day, im not like, mad or insulted this exists. its whatever. plus it puts some higurashi merch back on the market so not everything is ultra rare 20 year old figures for $700. it doesnt really exist for me, as a fan of the vns. i dont even think its horrible, it had some enjoyable parts to it. its just not good, is all. thanks for coming to my higurashi essay.

for sotsu, genuinely it felt like i didnt need to watch the first 11/12 episodes. yeah, it provided new perspectives and included how things got that way, but... i read the summaries of those episodes and got the gist of it all. if i had more respect for the plot they were going for, i might've watched em. but i dont like it! it was a really weird character assassination of satoko.

i can believe her behavior to some extent- not wanting to lose her best friend but not wanting to subject herself to constant misery in an academy she cant keep up with. again, i feel like eua didnt need to exist, and they couldve actually worked it out from there. especially if they let anyone else like... matter? let them talk and reason with their friends?

tl;dr if you like the vns, generally gou/sotsu isnt for you i'd say.

- in their domains, they can summon animals on it

- their hairstyle and clothing confuse ppl abt their genders

- personality is the same except she's more sadistic like what the fandom depicted of her in the past

- is dumb on the emotional aspect

- have a celebrity crush on Cronus before (he cringe thinking abt that now)

Poiseiden (Neptune)

- he/him, aroace

- is the smartest in terms of emotionally

- overprotective w his moons to the point planets out of the solar system is warned not to hurt his moons

- doesn't matter if ur an asteroid or a star, he will hunt u if u hurt Hades (pluto) or Caelus or his moons

- basically the song love in paradise happened between him and Triton

- is on par w Zeus based on strength

- naturally strong bcuz he's the guard of the solar system entrance (kuiper belt)

- is docile, not harmless

- my favourite planet

- love his moons and Hades bcuz they were the only one keeping him sane

- personality is still the same except whens he's pissed off

- if he's pissed off, ur doomed

- when angry, all goofiness is gone, only pure hatred

Helios (Sun)

- he/him, aroace

- is sexist bcuz trauma

- on a toxic relationship w hermes where both of them is hurting each other

- domain is the solar system itself

- he's backstory is different

- is the reason Venus life is gone

- the reason he's ok w saturn and Venus being a girl is bcuz Venus have life and Saturn is dating Jupiter

- stopped being sexist after hearing the reason theia died

- he know himself he's an ass hole for being sexist but he's trying!

- is super duper overprotective w his planets and others

- even tho he's sexist toward theia, he still care abt her

- didn't even realised he was being sexist and thought it was normal (it's not, the other stars r bad influence)
