Seven Sentence Sunday babeyy

bc i have these wips im rotating on constant loop and i need to scream while im finishing them. None of them are even named yet ill cross that bridge when i get to it and yea theyre BOTH splatoon. Omg no way who would have guessed

Fic 1; agent 8 angst (eighngst if you will) with a side of agent24

A gust blows into her face, spraying salt onto her tentacles and the call of night-time seagulls into her ears. A cool feeling washes over her, as she closes her eyes and tucks her knees to her chest. It's a sense of calm. The kind that loosens the vice grip around her ribcage and makes her relax into the weight of gravity. The waves make a nice sound, too. A gentle shushing in her ears, as if it's the ocean telling her don't cry, you're alright. Everything is okay now. Shh, shh… The sand is crunchy under her hands, and the dry grains sift through her fingers and leave a cool sensation between them. If the earth was a little softer, Eight could imagine sleeping here. The sand crunches behind her. Someone else's footsteps. "Figured you'd be here." Eight bit her cheek, curling in on herself. A pang of guilt jabbed at her chest; she didn't tell anyone where she went before she left. Three took another crunchy step closer, flip flops slapping against their feet. "Are you alright?" They asked. "Sorry," Eight blurted, crossing her arms over her knees. "Someone got worried, didn't they?" Three snuffed, something of a laugh. "Eh, Four just gets worried easily. He figured you went somewhere, but you don't really have a phone he could call." Right. She still hadn't gotten a phone. That should probably happen soon. She could only rely on her laptop for so much. "...Yeah. I, um… I will be going home soon, I just… needed some of the time alone." "Oh, you're good." She could feel the smile in their voice. "Don't rush, I can just tell 'im where you been." Their feet crunched on the sand. "Should I, um… d'you want me to leave?" Eight's hearts thumped in her chest. They're asking to stay? She kind of wanted them to. The ocean was a fine friend, but Three was also a comforting presence. "You… can stay. If you want to."

Fic 2: agent 8 and 4 being goofy roommates in honor of pride month

"Hey, Callum?" Eight called over her shoulder. "Yo!" Callum answered from the kitchen. "Quickest of questions." She turned in her seat, looking back to find him coming into the living room with a bendy straw stuck into a glass soda bottle. "Is today special somehow?" Callum's eyemask scrunched in thought. He tugged at the sleeve of his T-shirt, blowing bubbles into his straw. "Hmmm… I don't think so. What do you mean?" Eight tapped her fingers on the edge of the couch. "Well, Pearl has been going… the nuts on Splitter. More than usual." She squinted at her Splitter feed again, and refreshing the page found a new post. PEARLOTH: happy girlcock wednesday to all who celebrate ❤️❤️ and sis im ALL about the confetti

I just saw ur post about "runaan and ezran being autism solidarity" and my mind is whirring with headcanons, would u like to hear them?? :D

Yess!! Provided I can share some of my own <3 The way I think Ezran's autism presents really reminds me of how mine presents so 😊😊😊

Runaan sharpening his blades as a stim, and his black and white thinking helping him detach from what he's doing. Also speaks to how much he believes something is righteous and his difficulty in deviating from the mission at all

Jelly tarts are one of Ez's safe foods, his little leg kicky thing is his favourite stim. Bait and Zym texture wise really help him calm down. It also explains why his family emphasized identifying and verbalizing emotions & Ezran's trouble fitting in with other kids his age growing up despite being a lovely little boy

Ellis is also autistic because she is also1) deeply empathetic 2) similar texture stuff with animals, 3) bonds quickly and easily with Ezran which is just neurodivergent things, 4) barrels over social cues with good cheer & friendliness 5) no volume control

Partially inspired when I was working on chapters featuring Ezran and Runaan's bond in "if time is money" because they get along very well.

Ezran was next to join them, still yawning a little as he took a plate of pancakes and sat down, feeding a piece to Bait before he began to dig in. Callum smiled a little.

“Long night again?” he asked sympathetically before taking a sip of his juice, and Ezran nodded.

“Runaan and I talked,” he said, and Callum nearly spit out his drink. “It was nice.”

“You and Runaan talked alone?”

“Yes?”

Callum had to reel himself—and the vivid pang of panic—back in. “What—what did he say?”

“Not much,” Ezran shrugged. “He couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t either. I talked to him about the party plans? He asked a few questions about it. That’s all.”

“So you... had small talk with Runaan?”

“Yes?”

“And he wasn’t… weird?”

“No? But you’re being weird,” Ezran said, feeding another pancake piece to Bait.

“No, I didn’t mean—” He glanced at Ethari, who still had a contented smile on his face. “So… it was okay?”

“Yeah. He’s nice. I dunno how long it took after I left for him to go to bed.”

“It’s okay, Callum,” said Rayla. “You wouldn’t leave me alone with Ezran the first two days, either.”

His cheeks heated. “That was mostly circumstantial.” He’d spent the first day with Ezran in the Lodge, and the second in the boat or on the shore. There hadn’t exactly been places to go, although... part of him thought he wouldn’t maybe let Ez and Rayla wander off their own, too, once she closed up about her binding and set him on alert again. That wariness had faded soon after the events on the ice, and had completely gone away after he’d tried to tell Ezran about their father. After she’d become a real confidant. It’d been different.

This was different. This was peacetime with a stiff, intimidating elf who would become even more rigid every time he seemed to start to bend. Because even if he trusted him not to kill his brother, it didn’t mean he trusted what Runaan would have to say to him. Or that, if Runaan said something incredibly dense, Ezran’s kindness and compassion could run out (Callum had seen it do so before, with some other politicians) and once lost, it would be another wedge between Rayla’s old family and her new. Callum, had least, had gotten used to jumping over it.

He stiffened when Runaan walked in from outside, walking over to his husband to press a kiss to his cheek.

“Good morning!” Ezran said before even Rayla could say it, and Runaan smiled.

“Good morning Ezran,” he greeted, settling down at the table.

Callum had to work furiously not to keep his jaw from dropping. Yesterday Runaan could barely be in the same room as his brother. How had this happened?

“How was your walk ?” Rayla asked carefully.

“Fine. The surrounding forests are quite nice.”

“I think we’re getting more snow soon,” Ezran said. “You should see them when there’s a fresh layer of snow on everything.”

“I’ll remember that,” Runaan smiled. “And… Ethari mentioned you build… snow-men?”

Hi! I’m so sorry if this sounds stupid, but I was wondering about the characters and what the they looked like in the atlas six. I love the book (I’ve read it five times) but there’s about 10 main characters (including Atlas, Dalton, Gideon and Ezra) but only 6 drawings. I tried to put it together but for the life of me I can’t decided who’s who and which boy is which. Do you have any art or people based on the characters? If not thanks for reading and I’m exited to read Clara and the devil!

hello, I’m so excited to hear you enjoy the book so much!! this is magnificent news and I am elated. the titular Atlas Six are all depicted in the book, plus two more—I believe you have miscounted. the illustrations are, in order: libby (bangs, wafting insecurity), callum (blond, smarmy), nico (physically permeable, visibly on the verge of snark), tristan (angry, exquisitely dressed), parisa (come hither, 2 good 4 u), reina (plants, I Am Once Again Asking You To Not Talk To Me), gideon (dreamboi, tired), and then our final surprise narrator

so, here’s a fun fact about me: I have extremely poor facial recognition. like, seriously. I occasionally have to ask people to tell me if I’m looking at pictures of the same people or not. one of the constant stresses in my life is not being sure I will recognize someone I’ve met before. I do not visualize faces when I write: I hear their voices, I know what their mannerisms are, but the details of how they look... utterly inexpressible to me. also, I come from fandom where people pretty much facecast as they please, so I don’t think it’s that important for characters to have a defined “canon” look to them. basically, everything I think about how the characters look is already depicted on the page; I try to define them more by how they behave, so if facial characteristics are important to you, feel free to choose your own! my mom always picks the most INSANELY INCORRECT facecasts for my books to the point where I am like ??? did you even read ???, such as when she told me that she felt that anna kendrick should play regan in Alone With You in the Ether, which is SO absurdly wrong as to be frankly hilarious. so anyway if my own mother can cast an affable short white actress in the role of a tall half-asian art forger with a penchant for lies, you are free to do as you like. like I cannot even... I cannot even express to you how wrong that casting would be. but thankfully my mother is not responsible for any film adaptations (NOBODY HIRE HER I love her but this is not her strength)

anyway, thank you again for loving the book so much, and please enjoy Clara!!!! ahhh, beloved clara. I envy you the experience of witnessing the web series for the first time... I still get chills just thinking about it

why rayllum is a MASTERPIECE part 3

*RUBS MY CLAWS TOGETHER* IT IS SEASON 3 TIME BITCHES AND H O L Y S H I T I LOVE THIS SEASON SO MUCH

i even rewatched it for this!

this time i’ll try to have SOME order, and go by episode. this will however still include unintelligible screaming

1. DAMN THESE FUCKERS BE PINING MORE THAN A PINE TREE FOREST!

first off, affectionate eye rolling, nose boop, and head bonk is the best thing.

second, IF SOMEONE SAYS THAT DURING WHEN CALLUM WAS HELPING RAYLA PUT ON HIS SCARF AND THEY J STARED AT EACHOTHER FOR A BIT BEFORE RAYLA TURNED AWAY THAT HE WAS N O T LOST IN HER EYES? they’re wrong. this is fact now.

third, their teamwork and decision making is excellent. they agree to try and sneak past sol regem, and when that fails try talking to him and then decide to simply trick his senses with the scarf. and instead of rayla shooting down callum’s “smelltriloquism” idea, she simply adds onto it! LOVE HEALTHY FRIENDSHIPS

“i think it’s good luck!” YES IT IS RAY THAT’S UR BOYFRIENDS SCARF

2. STILL PINING. GOD DAMN.

first, CALLUM BEING SO EXCITED BY ALL THE MAGIC IN XADIA IS S O CUTE! MY SON. this might turn into an overrall review of s3. o well

second. FLUSTERED RAYLA AND FLUSTERED CALLUM. Y E S

third, THE ADORABURR FIELD! their smiles were so fond and soft and A. they make me cry of joy.

an overall look on it, i like how this episode really shows their feelings clearly. no “will they won’t they”, at least for rayla. it’s clear she has feelings.

3. AH FUCK. ANGST.

first i love how when rayla mentions that she’s excited and happy but also terrified, callum tries to comfort her. good boi. best boi.

second, elf callum. i love that scene so much even if the second-hand embarrassment kills me, and rayla is j like “why the fuck do i love you. im gonna kill him.”

third, DANCE! callum not being rude and saying her home is “modest” before rayla explains it’s an illusion, his BLUSH WHEN SHE HELPS HIM, and the softness in general. rayla’s excitement that she’s home and talks abt that she can show callum where she went to school, the best moonberry surprise place, until...

fourth, AH FUCK. A N G S T T I M E. rayla being crest-fallen before callum says that it must’ve been a mistake, and she realizes that ethari would probably understand!

and then CONFIRMED GAYS. YES.

rayla realizing ethari ghosted her too and then callum GOING O F F. he angy and when rayla runs out callum IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWS (like in a later episode) and comforts her again.

when ethari comes down and breaks the spell and says to callum “trees to meet you too” and rayla’s like “don’t encourage him”

also callum trying to get on the shadowpaw and ethari being Concerned is AMAZING. concerned dad content

i’ll talk more about ezran/ruthari/the dark magic trio in a later ted talk

4. H E R E W E G O

first, rayla clearly being sad and callum picking up on that quickly (he even seems to be almost falling on purpose, perhaps to make her smile?) and asking if she’s ok before being shot down by rayla insisting she is fine. GOD DAMN. THAT HURTS.

second, their interaction with nyx is so amazing. rayla being protective of zym and callum being a DORK is awesome, but also their decision making.

after rayla reluctantly decides that they can go see how nyx could get them across the desert so quickly, they see the ambler and then their reasoning is amazing.

“what do you think?”

“the dragon queen is dying.” and then i forget the rest of the exact quote but they give a subtle nod to eachother. they make their decisions TOGETHER. AS A TEAM. AND THAT’S ON HEALTHY FRIENDSHIPS X2!

third, callum continuing to gently press for rayla to express her emotions. he doesn’t pressure her, but seems to simply let her know that if she needs to talk (when she insists she’s fine), he is there.

four, MORE FLUSTERED RAYLLUM. YES. TY NYX but also fuck u for taking zym but also ur hot- A N Y W A Y

five. OOOOOOH. MY FAVORITE SCENE.

rayla’s crying and callum tries to reassure her. nyx is plotting, while rayla runs away and callum follows. Y E S.

rayla talks about how there’s nobody left that cares about her and she lost everything.. and then the SPEECH. i have this speech memorized i’ve watched this scene so many times

"JUST SHUT UP, YOU'RE TALKING CRAZY. JUST, LISTEN TO ME. YOU'RE TOO GOOD TO FEEL THIS BAD ABOUT YOURSELF. I KNOW THAT, AND YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT. YOU HAVE TRUE COURAGE, AND A BIG HEART! I'VE SEEN YOU GET KNOCKED DOWN SO MANY TIMES AND EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. YOU GET UP AGAIN. THAT'S REAL STRENGTH. AND.. AND YOU'RE TEN TIMES FUNNIER THAN ANY HUMAN I KNOW! chuckle SEE? SEE YOU KNOW YOU'RE AMAZING. YOU'RE SMART AND FAST AND BEAUTIFUL. RAYLA YOU'RE THE MOST AMAZING PERSON I'VE EVER MET."

and then rayla kisses him and that’s all that happened. callum was not a dumbass. right? RIGHT???

5. MY FAVORITE EPISODE!

first, rayla saving callum from the soulfang serpents and callum helping her get up is AMAZING, LOVE THAT.

second, callum tryna get a good position and rayla j saying to hold onto her and callum GETTING FLUSTERED. BOY IS PINING also he didn’t have to hold her that close.

“I DON’T THINK OF HER THAT WAY” “YOU AND I DON’T HAVE THAT YET” LIAR.

three, THEM JUMPING OFF THE AMBLER AND. THAT WHOLE MOMENT? THE ROMANTIC TENSION IS KILLING ME

four. DAMN CALLUM RLLY DO BE HAVING HEART EYES @ RAYLA WHILE SHE KILLS LIKE 80 SOULFANGS HE IS PINING PART 2

five. THE SPEECH. THE SOFTNESS. THE KISSES. GOD DAMN. FAVORITE SCENE OUT OF THE ENTIRETY OF TDP. LOVE THEM.

6. ANGST BUT ALSO FLUFF ALSO REUNION

once again won’t b talking abt ezran specifically but there’s some passing mentions of him from now on

first, rayla and callum reaching the stone thunder and callum asking “is it... a statue?” and rayla sadly saying “no. it’s not a statue” A. I CRI.

second, THIS MOMENT IS UNDERRATED EVEN THO IT’S ONE OF MY FAVS why has nobody mentioned the lil tender moment where ezran is by phoe-phoe and rayla puts her hand on callum’s shoulder AND CALLUM PUTS HIS HAND ON HERS. SO SWEET.

third, OK I’LL STOP MOST OF MY UNINTELLIGIBLE SHRIEKS AND ACTUALLY ANALYZE THIS.

callum is upset because of thunder and rayla sympathizes immediately. this is similar to how callum lets rayla let out her own emotions, and rayla is doing the same. he explains how he feels angry, upset, confused, sad, and rayla quickly empathizes. he keeps on venting, not knowing whether to feel regretful, or glad, and how he’s confused because that’s sarai’s spear. he feels sorry that all this happened, but rayla reassures him that zym and ezran are going to break the cycle! that’s hope! and then they hold hands and i screech

AND THAT’S SO FUCKING HEALTHY AND I LOVE IT. THEY RLLY BREAK ALL BAD HET RELATIONSHIP STEREOTYPES (coughbutistillheadcanonthembothasbiandcallumistransilldieonthishillcough)

7. angst but not rayllum angst so its ok

first, they begin to go up the storm spire and i really love their banter. “and i’m guessing the dragon queen didn’t make her den at a nice, halfway kinda place?” “nope. tiptop!”

cuties.

second, ASSDHFNF THE FACT THEY M O C K THE IDEA OF A FORBIDDEN RELATIONSHIP. THEY’RE IN LOVE AND THE WORLD CAN DEAL WITH IT. LOVE THAT FOR THEM

third, RAYLA CATCHING CALLUM. IT’S. NOT RLLY BIG I JUST LIKE IT AND THINK IT’S CUTE HOW EVEN THOUGH SHE WAS ALSO OUT OF BREATH SHE RAN UP TO CATCH HIM.

four, AHSDHGDHFG THEY DEADASS FORGOT EZRAN WAS THERE. more flustered rayllum i love that

8. FUCK IT’S RAYLLUM ANGST NOOOO

one, ibis is j a good boi. back to rayla and callum

two, rayla going in to see the dragon queen and when she runs out callum QUICKLY FOLLOWS to see if she’s ok. asks her if she’s ok, and she OPENS UP!! CHARACTER GROWTH BABY!!! and then they hold hands and i once again shriek

three, AH. HELLO ANGST.

before we go to the actual angst, can i say that THE LAUGH AFTER RAYLA SAID “STORM SNEEZE” IS SO CUTE. CALLUMS IN LOVE. MY SON.

oh no.

*bonks rayla on the head* nO SELF SACRIFICING!!

although their fight is super angsty and i hate it, it does provide some conflict and more plot because it gives callum a reason to want to find out the truth about rayla’s parents. and then he does! people argue that this fight was unnecessary or that callum was a jerk, but this was needed i think. he did let his worry become a bit of anger, and that was not a nice move, but he knows he fucked up and fixes it!

and then we get soft rayllum this is fine

9. AND YOU THOUGHT LAST EPISODE WAS BAD N O *CRYING*

there’s not much rayllum featured in this ep, but the amount we do get is 80 PERCENT ANGST AND I WASN’T OK WITH IT

first, the fluff! callum trying to do the wing spell and rayla teasing “did you pull a muscle in the middle of a jumping jack?” is so cute. i LOVE THEM. also they hold hands and i SH RIEK again.

also soren how dare you interrupt callum he was abt to confess

second, callum when he’s explaining the battle plan and his ZAP HAND. rayla is j watching him like “yep. that is my dork.”

and CALLUM SEEMS SO FOND WHEN JANAI CALLS RAYLA THE LAST DRAGONGUARD. PERHAPS I SOB

skipping forward in time a bit for the angst oh no

third, callum going up to the storm spire after ez encouraging him to go to rayla. love that soft brotherly relationship. and we think “oh, soft rayllum, right?”

NO. VIREN’S UP THERE.

fourth, THEY DIDN’T NEED ME TO BE ROLLING ON THE FLOOR WTF. the fact that rayla’s blade went right in front of callum and he looks up and sees zym in danger, viren is there, and RAYLA is there, p a n i k.

and then rayla jumps and the entire rayllum fandom SC REAMS after callum’s “no!” before she jumps and “no, no, no, RAYLA!”

fifth, CALLUM NO WHY ARE YOU JUMPING TOO- oh wait its ok he did the wings and im still crying fuck

THAT CONFESSION THO- i cri tears of joy now. they’re in love

sixth, I J WANNA KNOW WHAT THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT BEFORE EZRAN SHOWED UP. like it’s clear that they’re talking or something, but abt what is the question. also yes they hug and raylas fond

seventh, THEY HOLD HANDS!! soft bbs,,,

‘got tagged by @wancestroll to share some albums I’ve been listening to lately (thank u angel). some musings under the cut.

This album came out at the end of last year but I stumbled upon it towards the beginning of this year. It has gotten me through some Bad moments and I have had it on repeat variously throughout the year. It’s a really coherent and beautiful neo soul/blues album with excellent production.

Michael Kiwanuka is so bloody talented it’s almost not fair! It opens up with a BANGER (You Ain’t the Problem), which never fails to make me want to dance and I just put it on repeat when I’m having a bad day. It’s a really beautiful journey through some highs and lows, other personal favourites include Piano Joint (this kind of love) - which always makes me cry and yearn because it’s beautiful - and Hero.

It’s the perfect album to blast on sunny days driving around with the windows down because it’s too hot, but it’s also the perfect album to blast when you’re feeling down and want to capture the feeling of a summers day. In short it is gorgeous and I have been obsessed.

SAWAYAMA - Rina Sawayama

Goshhh this album is just so perfect as a debut album. You would actually be forgiven for thinking this was her second or third full album release, I haven’t been this impressed with a debut album since Tei Shi’s Crawl Space. It honestly sparkles with so much passion and personality.

She manages to blend so many of my favourite genres into incredible songs that just create such a unique sound, that still sounds incredibly like Rina Sawayama. She draws from such a wide array of influences and experiences - from heartbreaking songs touching on her family to tongue in cheek evaluations of societies obsession with celebrities and wealth.

It’s fun, it’s heartbreaking, it bangs from start to finish and truly cements Rina as one of the more exciting pop acts at the moment. Highlights for me include: Comme des Garçons (like the boys), Love Me 4 Me and Who’s Gonna Save U Now?.

It was the perfect soundtrack to a weird, weird year, I could go on for years about this but it would just end up being me screaming and squealing and pointing at every little detail she added (like the concert sounds of who’s gonna save u now?!!!!)

Petals for Armor - Hayley Williams

This album was probably the one I was anticipating the most this year, from the moment she started dropping hints about PFA I was hooked. As many of y’all will know I am a MAJOR Paramore and Hayley Williams fan, I love the way they have evolved as they have grown up and how it’s weirdly evolved with my own tastes.

I truly love this album so much, it’s not massively coherent but sometimes albums don’t need to be. Hayley tries out so many different vibes and sounds it makes total sense why she released it as three EPs, giving each of the songs the space they all need in the world before we scrambled to listen to all of them at once.

It’s also a hugely personal album and as someone who has felt similar feelings of depression and loneliness and grappling with loss and heartbreak I really love how some of the lyrics just really summed up stuff I didn’t even realise I was feeling.

It starts out very moody and atmospheric and carries us on a journey from anger through to love in such a nice way. There are some duds (I am not a massive fan of My Friend for example) but she delivers them all in such a way I rarely skip songs I don’t love.

Highlights for me are: Leave it Alone (very atmospheric, very autumnal, very late night walk in the woods, love the imagery and it kills me), Cinnamon (didn’t love this when I first heard it but I was WRONG, it’s really fun and makes you wanna dance and is an ode to loving yourself which we all need a bit more of), Dead Horse (my favourite fuck u song about an ex, it’s cutting where it needs to be and it’s a banger, and it makes me feel like summer and also smashing someone’s car with a baseball bat, and srsly Fuck You Chad), Why We Ever (another one I didn’t vibe with butttt actually now loveeeee so much, it’s so peaceful and full of love and sadness and makes me feel like I’m floating and also like I wanna cry? as someone who has a predilection to self sabotage something good I felt it), Sugar on the Rim (honestly I just wanna dance to this song, preferably in a gay club with pals, it’s so fun and 80s I adore it) and finally Crystal Clear (it makes me feel like I’m floating on a pool of water and serene and peaceful and loved and I’m so happy for her that she can write songs like that, it’s about embracing fear in love and just a really gorgeous song, also the sample of her Grandad’s song is adorable).

All in all I adore the album and had it on repeat A LOT since it came out, hopefully I will be able to see her perform it live at some point but at this point I am just thrilled that we have been able to experience an album from Hayley Williams like this.

Flip Phone Fantasy - Ocean Grove

Finally, Flip Phone Fantasy is an album I was introduced to not so long ago (thank u Allie) and I love it. It slaps, it fucks, it is the perfect mad modern nu-metal esque album.

Again I love the way it blends lots of different genres and sounds and vibes to create something very unique, fun and energetic. I have had this on repeat for about 2 weeks now, so you could say I’m a little obsessed.

Highlights on the album include: SUPERSTAR (just like a real hot song, love the imagery, wanna dance in a club to it, instead end up just dancing around the house and shower to it instead), GUYS FROM THE GORD (very trance/drum and bass kinda vibes, which I loveeee, reminds me of shady clubs at Uni and going on hikes up Constitution Hill high to watch the sunrise, 10/10 vibes) and ASK FOR THE ANTHEM (another v hot song but in a different way from Superstar, the lyrics are immaculate and the vocal effects are killer, again would party to this song).

Their first album is also a banger but honestly at the moment this is the kind of vibe I’m going for. Something a little sexy, quite summery, makes you want to dance and also rage at the same time - which is honestly an Eternal Mood.

Dragonic Musings: So…I have officially finished The Dragon Prince Book 3…

…And, I have no words. Like I’m incapable of forming coherent sentences right now. So, if you all would pardon me, I’m just going to share some screenshots from scenes that stood out most to me and screech my opinion of them in the most bluntest of fashions:

THEY WROTE A ROMANCE BETWEEN TWO CHARACTERS WHO’VE ONLY KNOW EACH OTHER FOR 27 EPISODES AND MANAGED TO MAKE THE PROGRESSION OF THEIR RELATIONSHIP AND EVENTUAL LOVE FEEL...NATURAL AND NOT...FORCED AT ALL. FREAKING AMAZING MAN!

AND IT’S NOT JUST THEM. IT’S NOT JUST RAYLLUM

SOOOOO AMAYA AND THE SUN KNIGHT ELF....

THEY ARE A COUPLE RIGHT? OR AM I TRIPPING BALLS NOW? CAUSE...I SHIP IT. WHY NOT? I THOUGHT THEIR INTERACTIONS WERE SO CUTE >U< NOT TO MENTION THAT I LOVE STRAWBERRY GREN’S LIL SMILE OF APPROVAL AT AMAYA AND HER NEW ELF GIRLFRIEND. IT’S SO WHOLESOME.

GOSH I LOVE THIS SHOW.

NEXT UP....

ZYM WAS SOOOOO GOOD IN THESE LAST FEW EPISODES.

IT ACTUALLY LOVE HOW THEY TREATED ZYM MEETING HIS MOM FOR THE FIRST TIME. CALL ME WEIRD HERE BUT THERE WAS SOMETHING ALMOST HUMAN TO HOW IT WAS APPROACHED.

IT REMINDED OF THOSE SCENARIOS WHERE ADOPTED CHILDREN WHO HAVE TO MEET THEIR REAL PARENTS FOR THE FIRST TIME ARE HANDLED AND I LIKE HOW THE DRAGON WRITERS CHOSE THIS APPROACH FOR ZYM. IT FELT...REAL AND I LIKED IT ALOT. PLUS...

NOT TO MEME THIS MOMENT HERE BUT I’M GONNA TELL MY KIDS THAT ZYM’S MOM IS MUH QUEEN!

ZYM’S MOM IS SO PRETTY AND I LOVE HER VOICE. SPEAKING OFF...DOES THIS MEAN THAT AT SOME POINT ZYM IS GOING TO LEARN HOW TO TALK?

CAUSE I’VE NOTICED THAT SINCE THE START OF THIS SEASON, THE DRAGONS---AT LEAST THE ONES WHO HAVE BEEN MONARCHS CAN TALK. SO WHAT IS THAT? IS IT THAT ALL DRAGONS CAN TALK IF THEY CHOOSE TOO OR...IS IT ONLY THE MONARCH ONES? I’M ASSUMING IT’S THE MONARCH ONES. EITHER WAY, I’M INTERESTED TO SEE WHAT ZYM IS GOING TO SOUND LIKE WHEN HE GROWS OLDER. WHILE I’LL MISS HIS LITTLE PUPPY DOG SOUNDS, IT’D BE SWEET TO SEE ZYM ACTUALLY TALK. MAYBE EZRAN CAN TEACH HIM TO TALK 8D THAT’D BE SWEET

OVERALL, THIS FINALE WAS REALLY REALLY GOOD. THIS SEASON WAS REALLY, REALLY GOOD. IT MAKES ME FEEL LIKE REWATCHED THE WHOLE SERIES FROM THE FIRST BOOK. I’LL PROBABLY DO THAT FOR THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS. BUT FOR NOW, I THINK I’M JUST GONNA GO BACK AND REWATCH THE RAYLLUM MOMENT FROM CH5 INSTEAD CAUSE...I’M SORRY I REALLLLLLLLY LOVED THAT SCENE.

BUT BEFORE I DO. I GOT TWO MORE THINGS I WANNA SCREECH ABOUT.

Not to be a Darth Vader or anything but....NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! CLAUDIA WHYYYYYYYYYYY!

WHY! I WAS ROOTING FOR YOU! I MEAN...IN A WEIRD WAY, I GET IT. AND IN AN EVEN WEIRDER WAY I....KIND OF LIKE THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CLAUDIA AND VIREN. IT REMINDED ME OF OZAI AND AZULA FROM AVATAR BUT...ALOT MORE....SYMPATHETIC, FOR LACK OF A BETTER TERM.

I GET THAT VIREN IS A VILLAIN BUT WHAT I LOVE ABOUT HOW THE DRAGON PRINCE HAS PORTRAYED HIM IS THAT...VIREN DOESN’T FEEL LIKE AN ENTIRELY EVIL PERSON. HE HAS SOME GOOD IN HIM AND IT COMES IN THE FORM OF HIS LOVE FOR CLAUDIA. YOU CAN TELL THAT CLAUDS IS VIREN’S PRIDE AND JOY. I WISH HE HAS SAVED SOME OF THAT LOVE SOREN BUT....THIS WAS THE CONFLICT.

VIREN IS A VILLAIN BUT...HIS CHARACTER IS WRITTEN SO WELL AND SO GREY THAT YOU AS THE AUDIENCE FEEL CONFLICTED. EVEN NOW AFTER HE’S DONE A SHIT TON OF EVIL STUFF, I STILL FEEL SYMPATHETIC FOR HIM BECAUSE OF HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH HIS CLAUDIA.

I FEEL SO BAD FOR SOREN AND CLAUDIA. THEY WERE THE KIDS MAN AND IT SUCKED SO BAD THAT THEY HAD TO BE BROKEN APART ESPECIALLY AFTER SEASON TWO’S REVELATION ABOUT THEM.

BUT AT THE SAME TIME, I AM SO SOOOOOOOOO PROUD OF SOREN! SOREN WAS THE FREAKING MVP OF THIS SEASON.

I KNOW I GUSHED MOSTLY ABOUT RAYLLUM BUT SOREN AND ALSO EZRAN AS WELL WERE THE CHARACTERS WHOSE DEVELOPMENT STOOD OUT MOST TO ME. DON’T GET ME WRONG. EVERY CHARACTER SHINED THIS SEASON AND IT WAS HARD TO REALLY PICK FAVOURITES. BUT IF I HAD TO, EZ AND SOREN. ESPECIALLY SOREN.

SO PROUD OF HIM.

THAT BEING SAID. I AM AT THE END OF BOOK 3 FOR TDP. FUNNY, WITH THE WAY HOW THIS SEASON ENDED, I WAS STARTING TO THINK THAT THIS WAS IT. I FIGURED THIS WAS THE END OF THE DRAGON PRINCE. UNTIL...

...DRAGON PRINCE BOOK 4....WHEN?

CLEARLY THIS IS A TEASER FOR WHAT’S NEXT TO COME FOR THE SERIES. EVEN THOUGH A SEASON FOUR HASN’T OFFICIALLY BEEN ANNOUNCED. OVERALL, I’M READY. THE STORY NEEDS TO CONTINUE AND WHAT I’M CURIOUS ABOUT IS WHAT ELSE IS THERE FOR TDP TO UNFOLD.

I MEAN, WE STILL HAVE MORE OF XADIA TO EXPLORE. WE STILL HAVE MORE ELF SPECIES TO ENCOUNTER. WE STILL HAVE TO GET RUNAAN BACK FROM VIREN AND REUNITE HIM WITH HIS HUSBANDO.

MORE IMPORTANTLY...AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO FEELS AS IF VIREN ALSO HAS RAYLA’S PARENTS TOO?

I KNOW RAYLA SAID THEY WERE BANISHED BUT...I CAN’T REMEMBER IF THEY WERE CONFIRMED TO STILL BE ALIVE?

I KNOW RAYLA SAID THAT RUNAAN AND TINKER (HIS REAL NAME ESCAPES ME RIGHT NOW, SORRY) RAISED HER AFTER WHAT HAPPENED TO HER PARENTS. BUT...ARE RAYLA’S PARENTS ALIVE? DID VIREN CAPTURE THEM LIKE RUNAAN?

Overall---okay I’m done screeching now----but OVERALL, this was another great season. I might even go as far to say that Season 3 is TDP’s BEST SEASON yet. I REALLY REALLY LOVED this season and I’m looking forward to rewatching it again in my recap of the whole series.

I feel as if this is the end of an Arc. Zym has been returned to his mother but the threat of Aaravos still looms on the horizon. So I think it’s safe to say that the Ozymondias Arc of the Dragon Prince story is complete and what’s next will probably be the Aaravos Arc. Another three seasons perhaps?

Either way, I’m excited to see what’s next for TDP. Words cannot describe how much I LOVE this series with its amazing story and AMAZINGLY WELL-WRITTEN CHARACTERS. I can’t wait to see what comes for the next arc. Looking forward to it when it comes out. In the meantime, that’s all I gotta say.

A few days passed without word from Inferna, and Neddy was beginning to think she'd been forgotten.

A pair of players were marrying in the gardens the week following the meadow fair. And Neddy made an appearance out of sheer curiosity-

The ceremony was within a tumble of pale pink blossoms beneath a flowering tree, and the fae—and even all who were stuck on the level—were in attendance, surrounding the couple of Moonstone players. Neddy recognised the groom as the gleaming Moonstone jouster from the fair. The bride was a tiny Healer with hair matching the blossoms overhead and a veil of glimmering chain mail set with white crystals. They seemed blissful- so much so that Neddy wondered about them.

Besides, was this a binding union in the real world? Probably not since Finvarra was the one to marry them, and Neddy rather doubted the Prince was ordained for such an affair. He wasn't even real.

Maybe it didn't matter to them- at any moment, any of them could be skewered with a sword and die at once in two worlds. Might as well live happily and love when possible.

Neddy shook her head. What an outlandish situation they all found themselves in . . .

There was a celebration afterwards, but in Yue City. Understandably, the happy couple wanted to be able to eat together as well as remain free of the fae.

Neddy stayed behind to put her feet up on the feast table alongside some of Finvarra's tittering wives to watch the dancing for a while. The feeling of isolation began to creep up on her once again.

Suddenly, there was a familiar trilling from her rucksack at her feet, barely audible over the fairy music. It was the sound the Plexus' messaging function made when a new message was received.

Excitedly, Neddy dug into the rucksack and drew the Plexus out. She swiped the screen, and the new message appeared. It was from Inferna- "Jack's Girlfriend" [fire emoji] in the Plexus.

The message read: WYD ???

Neddy replied with a long message detailing the wedding she'd just witnessed, overseen by the Prince himself.

To which the redhead pithily replied, "Bruh xD".

Neddy grinned at her screen.

Inferna went on to ask Neddy if she was ready to take on Aydina, and when Neddy indicated that she was "ready as she would ever be", the other girl sent back:

“Btw I invited 2 other ppl to join us for dodgeball- Morningstar and Balestra if u wanted to look them up! Hope that’s okay 💖💖💖 say hi to jack 4 me!!!!”

Attached to this was a selfie of the candy-redhead eating the apricot tartlets Neddy had paid her with.

Morningstar wasn't a name that Neddy recognised- but Balestra, she knew immediately. She was another Moonstone player- a celestial knight- with a griffin mount. If Neddy wasn't very much mistaken, the griffin ate some of the garden's fae NPCs. And Finvarra still recounted the incident like some sort of disastrous Biblical tale.

Maybe it would be good to have someone like that on her side? If Balestra's griffin ate Aydina, would that be an automatic win?

Neddy replied simply to Inferna with a thumbs-up emoji, but she couldn't help feeling a twinge of doubt.

Inferna and her two companions were already waiting in the level 30 foyer—a wide glass room looking into the beachy landscape beyond with huge, flat screens showing players already in action on the level—when Neddy blinked in.

Seeing the sparkling sea spread out to her left, Neddy's first inclination was to start singing “La mer”.

Inferna's disappointment that Neddy had shown up sans Jack was instantly perceptible. The redhead pushed her lip out and raised one hand to her hip.

“Where’s Jack?” she said, pouting dramatically. “I even brought him a huge thing of sugar cubes! And a fresh batch of sauce.”

Neddy pulled an apologetic face. "Sorry, he's been M.I.A. for a couple of days," she told her. "He does that, I'm finding."

A slip of a girl with a crown of curls and a longsword on her hip was leaned up against one of the glass walls. She nodded at Neddy by way of a greeting.

Inferna jerked her chin at her. "That's Balestra," she said, grinning. "Moonstone rider like yourself. Maybe you know her?"

Neddy didn't want to bring up the gardens fiasco in case it was a sore spot with Balestra, and so she lied. "Oh, er, no- I-I don't believe we've met, actually," she stammered. "I'm Neddy. I swear I'm a real rider- my mount is just . . . I don't think he'd be much good at dodgeball anyway."

Three pairs of eyes regarded Neddy. She didn't know why she was so nervous, but she knew everyone could tell that she was.

At least Inferna seemed to be enjoying herself, as usual. She snorted in the silence. "And that's Morningstar over there," she said, thumbing the other player in the foyer.

The third pair of eyes were almost too haunting to properly look into. They belonged to a ribbon of white slashed with violent red- a crown of berries, Neddy realised. Intimidatingly, a crystal scythe lay across her shoulders and her arms were draped over either side of the polearm. She looked a bit crucified.

The phantom made no move to acknowledge Neddy. However, her strange golden eyes stayed pinned to her.

Neddy merely raised her hand in a meek wave. "Hello."

Morningstar said nothing.

Inferna clapped her hands to break the bizarre tension between the four of them. "Well, let's go kick some ass!" she declared and punched the air. “I just confirmed with the other seven people who agreed to join our party. Three Ammolite, two Obsidian, two Moonstone.”

Neddy was impressed. Inferna was certainly on top of things. Perhaps more apricot tartlets were in order.

Inferna flashed them a cheeky grin. “Let’s go down to the beach?”

Neddy considered herself fortunate to have gotten some intimidating figures on her side for this dodgeball match- especially considering the others Inferna had rounded up. Not an inspiring bunch. But Inferna had only been looking to fill out the team.

Mermaid Cove was beautiful. The beach was blush and the sky was bright. The harbour was bustling at one end of the shore and magnificent pirate ships bobbed in the offing. Up the beach, giant pink conch shells were set upright in the sand and hollowed out into stalls that sold necessities like medi-elixirs, pep potions, and replacement gear. An old one-eyed woman with a blue parrot on her shoulder was selling fried octopus tentacles in shell-shaped baskets. A length of fishing net was draped over the market area and all manner of scavenged sea treasures and seashells were strung up, dangling over the customers as they browsed.

Neddy wanted to roam the market area for a while, but Inferna was all business.

Inferna led them through the intro ordeal, having one of the other players activate the in-game event with the NPC shopkeeper, since Inferna herself had already completed the level and therefore could not activate it again.

Inferna tapped her foot impatiently as the NPC ran through her whole sob story about how the mermaids had created Angel’s Breath to revive drowned humans, how the pirate queen Aydina and her eleven crew members had killed off all the mermaids to keep Angel’s Breath for herself-

Finally, the NPC said, “If you get the pirates to leave the town, I’ll show you where the last Angel’s Breath is hidden.”

“Great, let’s go,” said Inferna, then she directed the rest of the group to the shoreline.

As they stood on the beach, she threw her finger in the direction of the sea where a massive dome was rising slowly out of the water.

"Look, look!" Inferna shouted. "There it is!"

The others crowded around to watch in awe as the dome continued to surface, throwing off water and a terrible mechanical noise that scraped the ears.

"We're going into that thing?" Neddy asked, her stomach flipping.

Meanwhile, a pirate ship-complete with a skull and crossbone flag-sailed into view. Inferna rolled her eyes. “Yeah, in a sec,” she replied. “Aydina has some dialogue that we have to sit through. God fucking damn, but the NPC shit in this game gets so tedious.”

It wasn’t much longer before Aydina, the pirate queen, sauntered up over to them, her crew right behind her. With an unruly mane of fiery red curls, fierce eyes, and dressed in sheer black chiffon that billowed dramatically in the breeze, with lacy black gloves that went up to her elbows and a pair of badass black boots to match.

Inferna cut to the chase. Apparently, sometimes you could skip the intro dialogue if you talked faster than the NPCs. “Yo, Aydina! Get the fuck out of here.”

The NPC gave Inferna a disparaging look. “How are you going to make me?”

“I challenge you to a dodgeball game,” she replied tightly, and Aydina nodded her agreement.

“Time to go!” Inferna crowed, evidently pleased that she’d successfully gotten Aydina to skip through most of the annoying dialogue.

A narrow walkway of roped-together driftwood began to rise out of the sea. It did not look the least bit steady, and Neddy was ready to forego the whole thing just at the sight of it.

The sea is beautiful, yes. But it is also crushing and fathomless. And Neddy had always had a fear of it. The prospect of going beneath the ocean's surface was almost debilitatingly frightening.

She hated herself for wishing Callum was there to hold her hand.

But no sooner had the thought of him crossed her mind that Inferna was taking her hand and pulling her towards the rickety walkway.

“Come on, move your ass,” Inferna said, shooting her a playful look as she tugged her along. “Be careful during the actual game, though. Aydina can randomly let water into the court and drain it out whenever she wants. It’s the biggest pain ever.”

Neddy wanted to sink inside herself at that, but- it felt almost as if Inferna was passing some of her chaotic strength through her fingers into Neddy’s. And her feet moved to follow after the redhead.

They marched into the dome, and the door sealed off behind them, metal clanging as the dome sank back under the sea to rest on the sea floor. The dome itself was made out of some kind of transparent material, allowing them to see the various sea creatures and coral formations surrounding the place.

Inferna paused, causing Neddy to pause too. The redhead seemed to have noticed a throng of excited players making their way back to the foyer, where they’d be able to watch the game on the screens.

“What?” Neddy wondered, dividing a look between the Inferna’s face and the other players.

“If we win-” Inferna cut herself off and then winked at Neddy. “When we win, those players will be swarming all over us the second we get back to land- for the Angel’s Breath. Best to have a few ictuium potions on hand.”

Inferna said as much to Balestra and Morningstar as well. Then, Aydina was explaining the rules of the game to them.

“If the ball-” and here she summoned the “dodgeball” out of thin air, which was an enchanted turtle shell- “hits you, and then hits the ground, you’re out. If you catch the ball, you’re safe. If the ball bounces off of you and one of your teammates catches it, you’re both safe. But, if the ball bounces off of you and someone on the other team catches it, you’re out.”

Inferna cast Neddy a sideways glance. “Don’t get hit,” she advised. “That thing packs a punch on its own, but depending on her mood, Aydina can make it stab you with barnacles, shock you, or spray disgusting gross poisonous stuff that’ll kill you before the time is up.”

Aydina rolled the ball over to where Inferna was standing. “I’ll let you guys have the first go,” she said, smirking confidently at them, looking directly at Inferna. “Since I feel sorry for you. How many brain cells do you have, to be wearing such an atrocious hat?”

“Fuck you!” Inferna shot back as she picked up the ball. “You’re such a fucking cunt.”

The pissed-off redhead gave the other eleven people a questioning look. “Well, should I go for it? Or do one of you guys want to do the honors?”

[ You can pick up here or back up a bit or do as you like if you end up taking this quest up ! No instructions for Neddy (but keep in mind she’s not a strong player), just do as you like and make sure they win ! ^^ And, if you need any help at all, just ask either Ayz or me~ ]

equipped with a debilitating phobia of water--a fear most would see as bizarre and silly and exceptionally irrational--in a culture that as previously mentioned shuns fear to all hell

was left by her parents and (despite them having a perfectly good reason) never really healed

almost drowned which was not helped by the phobia

almost ravaged by an ancient vampire

an ASSASSIN who has to KILL PEOPLE but is a WHOLESOME SWEETHEART

haunted by her "constant" mistakes; her strengths get wholly overshadowed by her weaknesses

told by the father figure she revered that she is a stupid baby useless idiot (roughly)

but in this handmade heaven, i come alive

an - dedicated to literally anyone who reads + shares it bc christ i love u for that. i swear it isn’t that long its all mostly just dialogue that stretches it out. also for @rayllum-week bc i found out exactly 4 minutes ago that that was a thing and this weirdly fits the last day so why note. i love u.

“Your handwriting is getting worse,” she announces leaning against the doorway. Callum looks up from his spot on the bed to find her holding a stack of papers all of which that are out of order.

“My bad,” he sounds entirely unapologetic

She shakes her head, walking over to where he’s laying. “You’re meant to be working you know,”

“I am,” he says, still sprawled on the bed. His lying skills are getting far worse he thinks.

She scoffs, leaning against his legs now. He tries not to notice the added pressure, fails if his quickened heartbeat is of any indication, and turns to look at her. From his position, he can make out only her upper body, arms well-toned, luminescent skin. Her sleeves are torn off revealing still white-pink skin, despite how much she’s been in the sun with him, and all he wants to do is draw her arms. And then her hands. And her legs, and her chin and eyes. Her really - all he wants to do is just draw her in every light, from every angle, as she throws watermelon seeds at him.

“You know,” she says conversationally, breaking him out of his trance “you’re a terrible prince. You literally have one job to do today and it’s to write out these memos for Ez”

He sits up at that looking mildly dismayed. “I’m not a terrible prince - my writing isn’t even that bad,” he objects, despite his lackluster apology two seconds ago.

She juts her chin out holding up the stack of papers. “Caps Callum. You’re literally writing in caps now instead of normal”

“That doesn’t mean its bad” he protests, although he can see her point. The lines are all intertwining within themselves and he’s left little spaces between the actual words.

“You’re right it's revolting. Horrendous. The worst thing I’ve ever seen and that includes Bait’s throw-up”

“You can’t say that about Bait, he’ll be hurt”

Her lips twitch as she leans down to rest her chin against his knees. “I’ll live I think, he already doesn’t like me”

“Well you can’t blame him,” he says in mock seriousness. She lets out a breathy laugh and he lets himself look at her for as long as he can get away with it. Her horns are stark against her white hair, all twisted and purple. She once told him that all Moonshadow elves had them in order telepathically communicate with one another and he’d spent a week at Xadia paranoid at what the elves could have been saying.

“Hey,” she says, breaking him out of his thoughts again. “Give me your hand.” Without thinking he reaches out towards her and wonders if she’ll notice that his hands are too calloused. She turns them over, running her fingers lightly across the lines etched in his palms. He suddenly feels every nerve on high alert, keeping his eyes low to avoid hers.

“I can read palms you know,”

“Yeah?” he asks struggling to keep his heartbeat normal. He feels like a live wire, with her hands so close to his. If he wanted to he could close the small gap between them. If he wanted to, he could intertwine their fingers and rub his thumb against her knuckles.

“Yeah”

“What’s mine say?” he finally looks up and she is impossibly close. He’s given up on controlling his heartbeat; it’s at an impossibly fast rhythm now, banging against his ribs like a fist upon a door. He can’t decide where to look, his eyes darting from the top of her head, back to their hands, still dangerously close.

“I think this line has to do with your energy. It means that you’re bound to have a good head in the face of danger and that you should be looking for excitement in your life. Adventures with heroes and that you’ll have great tales about brave and kind elves”

He lets out a breathy laugh, pulling away from her. “It does not say that” he objects, feeling the loss of her hands. “You’re just making this up now to boost your own ego”

She grins back at him, all teeth in that way he’s learning girls do when they’re truly happy. He forces himself to swallow, feeling impossibly delirious being this close to her still. His eyes fall to the column of her neck and he’s struck with a sense of wanting.

“I am not making this up I swear,” she says holding her hand over her chest, in an attempt to seem honest. “This really is a Moonshadow ritual”

He doesn’t respond back, going over the way she said ritual less than two seconds ago. He’s been becoming more obsessed with her voice as of late, listening to the change of tone in certain letters, hanging on to every sound. It’s becoming more common for him to register her voice before he can even see her in the room. A part of him wonders if this is becoming a problem.

“You really can read palms?” he asks her, this time looking directly at her. Her eyelashes are longer than his he notices.

“Yes”

He huffs, pulling his hands out again, trying to ignore the quickening of his heart.

“So this line here” she starts again, this time biting her cheek to stop herself from laughing. She is close enough for him to see the scar by her left eyebrow and he is struck with another feeling of desperate want. “Its about your love life. You can find a happy love but you need to have the courage to say something”

His throat constricts tighter, eyes widening. She looks up at him, all traces of teasing laughter gone.

“Oh?”

“Yeah” she hums, “think you know what that’s about?”

His heart is hammering around his ribs, all loud and desperate to say something. He thinks he might feel lightheaded, if it wasn’t for her hands still holding onto his wrist, tethering him down. She looks so pretty across from him, all purple eyes and white eyebrows, her hair curling by her neck. Time is passing by hopelessly slow between them and distantly he thinks that this is his chance, this is his opening, with her standing just a bit away.

“About you,” he manages to say and she blinks up at him, startled. His own voice surprises him. He wasn’t even aware of his mouth moving until the words were out, unprocessed.

“What’d you say?” she is just staring back at him now, mouth slightly agape and oh this was a very bad idea he thinks. He forgot, for that split second of bravery, that people can hear him when he talks. That she can hear him when he confesses truths he wasn’t fully aware of.

“Ah,” he says, except it comes out more as a regretful hiss than a real word. “Nothing - I thought - well see - what I meant was - because - and so” he’s babbling now, just saying empty words to fill up the silence. This was a mistake he thinks and is trying to awkwardly reach out of her grasp to jump out the window.

“Callum,” she says, her hand reaching to touch his chin. He stills under her touch and looks at her to see a slight smirk on her face and Christ. She really is so pretty he thinks, his heart lodged in his throat now rather than his ribs. “Do you like me?”

He scoffs, trying to swallow. “Of course not. I hate you actually” he lies. It’s pointless because she can feel his heartbeat against his skin, and knows him well enough by now to figure out his tells. He thinks he might feel shame at his lying abilities if he wasn’t so busy feeling embarrassed over his unfiltered confession.

“Such a shame then,” she says and the smirk on her face is growing wider by the minute.

“What?” he finally asks trying to seem nonchalant, like he isn’t paying attention to her tongue running across her teeth.

“Because I really like you,” she says, voice certain, head tilted. Her smirk is fully grown by now and he truly cannot feel his heart anymore. He’s fairly certain it’s plummeted down somewhere into his stomach, dissolving in a pool of acid.

“Ah” and it comes out as another hiss, this time slightly less regretful. “Yeah, it is a shame then. On the record of my very much not liking you - hating you in fact”

“Good god,” she says and before he knows it she’s leaning into his space, even more, closing in the small gap between them. Her chest is pressed against his and it’s only then that he can hear his own heart again, realizes that it has yet to dissolve away into nothing.

She is so unbelievably present against him, grinning into his mouth victoriously, silver hair falling against his face. He’s forgotten how to think now, except for the way she says really, her voice putting more tension on the second half of the word.

I don’t know why and I’ve received no explanation from Google, my original Update Google Group has suddenly disappeared. I’ve had to re-start a new group.

I found out on October 4th, Google had removed my Group once again.

I suspect England will start Euro 2020 with Harry Maguire and Joe Gomez as their central defensive partnership unless Gareth Southgate decides on a change of formation.

Maguire, although he has been made Manchester United captain, has not really shone at Old Trafford and I always feel he is suspect against high-class opposition but with John Stones struggling and Michael Keane’s international career looking to be over, there is a real shortage of quality options.

Gomez has been outstanding for Liverpool since getting his place back when Joel Matip was injured and has always looked a natural fit on the England stage. He is a class act.

He also impressed England’s staff with the mature manner in which he dealt with the bust-up with Raheem Sterling at St. George’s Park earlier this season, when he was – as Sterling himself said – the innocent party.

There is no doubt the injuries to Kane and Rashford – we must assume Vardy will be sticking to his decision to back away from international football – casts a cloud over Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2020 preparations.

I think focus will now fall on the likes of Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham to step forward, although he has gone off the boil a little recently.

Two names that I think will definitely be in his thoughts will be Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Southampton’s Danny Ings.

I suspect Southgate had doubts, as did many others, about whether Calvert-Lewin could add regular goals to his other fine qualities but he has been outstanding in recent times.

Ings won one England cap back in 2015 only to then sustain a serious knee injury. He would have won many more but for those injuries and I think if he maintains his current form he will get another chance.

Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson has been in the mix but he has suffered during Bournemouth’s poor run, although he was back on the scoresheet against Brighton this week.
