If I may add some more ideas :]

I've seen people and have been preparing a project myself with like those glass jar lids the metal ones. Making them into pins by glueing saftey pins to them and stuff.

Or ive seen some cool projects made out of those twisted off can things too. Stringing them together to make chains, or belts or using saftey pins to just straight add it as dangly decor, even fully stitching them to the jacket to make pattens and texture.

My friend liked putting just straight different ducktape on their jacket.

Can stich ribbon onto it, flat or tied or braided, anything.

Or random buttons.

In fact you can also, if you want something more involved could get some grommets to put secure holes or something and thread rope or ribbon or chains down a sleve or on the back etc.

Tear up some scrap fabric and sew it to the jackets for texture or add thickens, or colour, what not.

If you have the stuff to sew on patches, you can also just straight stich onto the jacket. Whether that be searching up embrodery patterns or just shitty shapes or words, I've stiched just a big clump of x's. Before cause why not.

I also very much emphasis painting/drawing on your jacket. Its one of my favourite things. Don't have to do anything fancy if you dont want, don't have to be an artist. Even just covering it in words or shapes can make it look like graffiti, or write out lyrics from your favourite song or a paragraph from a book you admire. Use red and splater on it for fake blood. Theirs so much you can do.
