“We need to expand Gods kingdom by making more babies” is a statement that gets dangerously close to a utilitarian view of women as who only function as baby makers.
Yes we need families and yes Christian couples should have kids but ALSO there’s a lost world OUT THERE that needs Jesus and every time I hear a dominion theologian go off on a tangent they tend to forget that like. The Great Commission mirrors the commandment in Genesis so the way to make disciples is not only through family but but literally going to the Nations and telling the gospel to the world.
I’ve also yet to hear a dominion theologian have a good way way to address singles and/or barren couples.

Thank you for the correction! As someone who was not mormon and will thankfully never be, I'm getting my information primarily from older sources and/or Mormon Stories podcast, so some of what I say is anecdotal to the people that I've seen talk about it.
hi! i remember vaguely you posted something about how mormons believe in spirit babies, could you elaborate what that belief means?
I'm going to use the language that the LDS use for their theology and then do some explaining since they use similar words but don't MEAN the same thing that Christians do when they use them.
When Heavenly Father first created the world/universe we live in (note, this is NOT the beginning of time), him and Heavenly Mother (or 'mothers' if you are faithful to what all the LDS prophets/leaders have said, that's right God is a polygamist) had spirit children, becoming angels. One of those spirit children was Jesus, one was Satan. They both came up with ideas for how salvation should come about (I don't remember the details of the supposed plans, I'd have to look it up) but Heavenly Father went with Jesus' plan. So everyone else had to choose sides. 1/3 chose Jesus' side, 1/3 chose Satan's side, and the last 1/3 didn't choose at all. The 1/3 that chose Satan were sent to earth with the 'Mark of Cain' which in the Doctrine and Covenants is explicitly dark/non-white skin. The other 1/3 were punished for not choosing by being sent down while not being in the LDS, so they had to wait until they died and went to spirit prison* to be preached to by the last 1/3rd that followed Jesus and were born into the Mormon church. It might not be exactly 1/3 on all sides, but I know for sure 1/3 was following Satan, because Joseph Smith took that from Revelation.
So basically, when a couple has sex, they are inviting a spirit that already exists, to come and reside in the body that is made. And if the child dies before the age of 7/8, well that spirit just didn't want to be born yet. And if you CAN'T conceive a child, it's because no spirit thinks you're worthy of it.
"Heavenly Father" is what they call God, and according to the LDS he didn't actually make the universe from nothing, but was created by some god before him, and became an exalted man, and got to create his own universe when he became exalted. Jesus is also an exalted man, and is NOT god. Neither is the Holy Spirit. Heavenly Mother is not usually spoken about beyond very briefly because OBVIOUSLY their god wouldn't be able to create spirit children on his own. She is NOT to be worshipped even though she would also be a god. The modern church only ever talks about one but even as early as Brigham Young (the second leader of the LDS after Joseph Smith died), there was the idea of more than one wife of god, because you cannot become an exalted being without being married to at least 3 women. And if you're a woman who is married to a man and he has less than 3 wives, you will not get to rule with him because he will not become exalted.
To contrast this, classical Christian theology surrounding the creation of new life is that a father and mother are co-creators with God, and that God creates the spirit of the person at the moment of conception, ie at the moment when man and woman biologically create life, then the spirit is there. It was a little shaky at first of when life started, but it was always 'if there is life, there is a soul, but before there is life, the soul is yet to exist'. One of the things the LDS church teaches is that babies remember what the spirit world is like, because the 'veil' between worlds is thinnest at the beginning and end of life. But eventually as they get older, they forget, and that's why we have to go through life the way we do.
It's all very confusing and doesn't make much sense, but I hope I explained it in a way that can be somewhat understandable (or at least.... answered your initial question).
TLDR: God the father created every soul that would ever live when he created the universe and having sex is just 'inviting' that soul to come down to earth. Having sex outside of a mormon marriage or with the intent of raising the child outside the Mormon church is akin to inviting the spirit to be forever damned. And so conception issued boils down to you not being worthy for the spirit to WANT to be your child.
*Yes its called spirit prison, and the only way to be 'saved' from it is if a mormon on earth goes to the temple and gets a proxy baptism using your name after you have died. This is called baptisms for the dead and the Mormon church got in a lot of trouble when they, for a long time, allowed their members to get baptized on behalf of jews killed during the holocaust. Now you can only get baptized by those who are biologically related to you, but there is almost 0 oversight on it, so even though the person doing it is supposed to get permission from the *closest* living relative, often times they don't and just say they do. How does the Mormon Church know who you're related to? Oh, they just own the largest database of ancestry paperwork in the US, possibly the world. To the point that the US government will sometimes borrow their stuff. The Vatican has put a ban (as well as other independent protestant churches) on parishes giving the Mormon Church or member ANY genealogical or baptismal information, since it is only used to do their weird necromantic baptisms, since no baptism is valid except a Mormon one.

I dont want to burden you with unweildy, personal questions, but i respecr your opinion a lot and think you have good thoughts. (Sorry this is gonna be kinda long, feel free to ignore it (though i ask you dont block me based on this ask bc i love your blog))
Christianity is a faith a care for deeply and feel deeply cared for, especially Catholicism, which i feel connects me to my mother and her family, especially my late grandmother. I love Christian thought, Christian activism, Christian theology, Christian prayer, the whole lot. There are few times i feel more comfort in the world than when im praying a Rosary.
The problem is, i converted to paganism back when i was a child. Im a pan/omnitheist- whatever the one that means you believe all gods exist. And i still feel deeply connected to my faith as a pagan, even as I've shifted pantheons to worship over the years (going from one of/eclectic to Hellenic to Kemetic to Hellenic to settling on Norse.) There's nothing in my soul that feels wrong or stifled when i pray to my gods, ot in fact brings me a great deal of comfort and joy and i feel has helped me deal with a lot of issues in my life.
I still love God, i WANT to love God, and i feel so much love and happiness when i pray to God. But i also feel super conflicted and gross because i know im still pagan at the end of the day. I can't make myself stop believing in my other gods.
So my question is, finally, how would you reconcile these feelings? What am i meant to do with these wack emotions?
I have a friend who's an Omnist and I respect his belief in that and in anyone who wishes to believe. I respect all faiths and support people in those faiths but Christianity is a monotheist religion; the first commandment was to have no other God's besides the Lord and that commandment is echoed over and over again in the scriptures and the words of the church fathers.
I think you have two options here, accept that you are a pagan/omnist and move past those conflicted feelings or accept that the Lord commanded us to only have faith in Him. Honestly my dear sibling in Christ, I don't think I'm the one to decide for you which of those is best for you. You have to figure out what kind of person you are and what you truly believe in your heart to be right; you need to come to terms with these feelings and face then head on. No matter which road you go down remember that I and the Lord do love you dearly.

men are also stoned to death for adultery, there's a case of it in iran.. idk why they portray it like it only happens to women. Ironically, this practice has roots with ancient Jews (idk if you've read that story about Jesus allegedly saying "he who has not sinned cast the first stone"). The bible does call for adulterers to be put to death, and if u ask orthodox jews if they support this, most would say yes.
1) "there's a case of it in Iran" I love how your own choice betrays how bs your "but what about men??" narrative is. If you can pinpoint one case of something, that's precisely how exceptional it is compared to the plenty other cases where stoning is targeting women. It wouldn't occur to you to say "oh there's this one case being stoned in Iran " because stoning women is actual normal in those cultures.
2) just because male violence occasionally targets other doesn't dismiss the fact that male violence is mainly targeting women. Ask yourself who made those Islamic laws. Your ask is weird bc it flip flops between islamic culture (stoning), the Jewish Law, and Christianity, which, despite some similarities, have vastly different application of justice and punishment. For example, out of all religion, Christianity is the only one to forbid violence or death as a punishment.
And yes, the Israelites had to stone to death adulterers, but also married women who lied about being virgin, people who broke the Sabbath... But Christians don't abide to these law anymore. That's why you're correct when you say "the Bible calls for adulterers to be put to death" BUT just because it's in the Bible= prescription for Christians. I think that's one of the biggest misconception people have against Christians : they fail to understand the difference between Jewish and Christian prerogatives. Jews can kill because they're still under the Law - Christians cannot.
That's why I compell everyone to be EXTREMELY sceptical of Christians making hoop to argue argue it's aKtcHualLy ok for Christians to kill (quoting the "sell your cloak and buy a sword" verse while NEVER having the honesty of telling the rest of the story where Jesus rebukes Peter who precisely used his sword to harm a man) because they do the mistake of feeling entitled to Christian privileges (Grace) BUT ALSO Jewish Law prerogatives (killing). And the oddest thing is that while they claim Jewish law prerogatives, they are somehow much less prone to abide by Jewish law OBLIGATIONS (circumcision, sabbath you know the one where you're forbidden to leave your house beyond than a certain distance, work, and have to light your house with but a handful of candles 🙃, go out of their way to stone adulterers & those who don't keep the Sabbath, etc.) which cannot go without the other. That's how you know how wack their theology is lol

that post just now about how kids talk wack reminded me of one of my favorite things i've ever heard a child say
one day while doing random art projects with a few kids, a six year old, unprompted by anything, just looks up from his paper and says "god is worms"
and i was stunned for a moment thinking about this fascinating take on theology, wondering where it may have come from. and then i remembered and shared with the kids that earthworms have done more to change the landscape of the earth than any other living being including humans. and he was delighted with this knowledge and reiterated "wow! god IS worms!" hell yeah buddy, god is worms.

I know how Dracula ends but I am rooting for John and Mina to become an eldritch unvampire power couple, not vampires but not human but a secret, third option, that leaves all the previous theories in the dust, and also the volcano explodes and there’s an airship escape and maybe the Sisters are Fine Actually and they just start their own cafe together

It's not even that they don't honour the gods, honouring the gods is implied to be weird, outdated, and (dare I say) barbaric. The PJO books are very much steeped in Americanized Christian theology with the idea that the divine should be selfless in their love and gifts. For example, Octavian wanted to offer real chickens instead of stuffed animals to the gods and it's presented as something to make him seem even more unhinged. But sacrifice is a huge part of most religions, even Christianity. There are still religions today that practice animal sacrifice in some capacity, such as Islam. So yeah, the attitudes towards sacrificing to the gods is totally wack and kinda ignorant in a moralizing America-centric way.
saw your post on pjo gods and their presence in the demigods' daily life and i 100% agree! the demigods literally never really give much to the gods (where are the rituals?? the offerings and temples that they can afford to do bc it's literally a huge camp?) i can't really think of any instances where they do anything to honor the gods other than food every night, and even then it's more of a tradition than anything- and their offerings are almost never just for the sake of honoring the gods im-
Exactly!
Like I get it, they're family and all but- literally the myths showcase demigods honoring the Gods... Lots! Not just including, but especially their family.
Honoring them, asking for aid, giving offerings to request it and thank them for it, just generally holding proper respect and awe for the Gods...
Like if you want the Gods to help you, you need to have some favor with them (or promise them something showing that you do value their aid). Your parent may help for the sake of you being their child but the other Gods certainly won't. Any aid from them is a kindness, and if you want that kindness to continue you need to thank them properly.
Like, Hera made Annabeth's life horrid after book 4 because Annabeth threw her kindness back in her face (and she had reasons but like-- she really should not have said that to a Goddess... Tho Rick portrayed Hera wrong but not the point-). Hera would be considered perfectly valid to torment Annabeth for it akdnakd.
What is the camp teaching these kids about the Gods? Cause it's clearly not how to gain their favor or respect them or even send a basic prayer asking for help.

Did that anon really say it’s biblical to slaughter humans, leaving not women and children alive 💀 meanwhile the COMMANDMENTS BY GOD has us to not kill?? Clear as day for us to obey.
Sorry but this worship of violence christians have has to stop. It’s obvious how these people are blinded by Satans lies to justify their carnal desires. In the end times we are told that many lukewarm christians will be led astray by false prophets who are actual demons. Gun worship is demonic and gun culture is idolatry
Hm, to be honest, that's what one of the few things he got right actually 😅
The "Thou shall not kill" Old Testament commandment was for the Israelites treatments of each other (and yet, death penalty sanctioned by God for some sins, such as not respecting the Sabbath) but Israelites definitely had a God given license to kill (a good chunk of the OT are undless wars tbh). God occasionally told Israelites to even kill women and the child for when at war against specific countries, while for other He told to only kill (male) adults.
And yes, that's the same God we're worshipping today.
I think modern Christians have a very warped vision of who God is. Of course, Jesus happening revealed God Grace and Mercy - but God is also a God of Judgement and Punishment. Especially of His own people. For example I'm baffled that so many Christians seem to ignore that God sentenced to death Moses for disobeying/sinning, even after Moses repented(!!) 😭 But God judgement was done: Moses was sanctioned to never see the Promised Land and God ordered him to go up some mountain where he would die (actually almost all Hebrews died in the desert -minus Jacob and Caleb- because of of their disobedience) And it didn't stop at the OT : the God struck dead Ananias and Saphira (companions of Peter) for lying to the Holy Spirit 🥴 God doesn't play.
And that's also why all the people saying "once saved always saved" are liars because both Ananias & Saphira well saved and yet God still killed them for their sin¯\_(ツ)_/¯
God hates sin as much as He did back then. So much that people caught disrespecting them was worth death. That's why Jesus got crucified btw. Blood had to be spilled to repay the blood we owed to God for sinning. That's why we owe so much for Jesus who literally sacrificed himself for us to not bear the fate we actually deserved for our sin (eternal death in hell).
But where this user got everything wrong is that you can't feel entitled to Israelites prerogative (using violence) while feeling entitled to CHRISTIAN mercy. WE ARE NOT THE ISRAELITES. God deported the Jews. The Temple got destroyed. Jesus fulfilled the Law. We don't have a land to defend because huh Christians are dispatched across the whole world on different countries, speaking different languages, different political regime (that's why US Americans invoking politics/Constitution/ civil law in their BIBLICAL defense of gun carrying are very stupid - like...it's scary how stupid they are to think such things are remotely relevant to other Christians anywhere else in the world), etc. So WHY cherry picking one Israelite prescription? Remember, disobeying 1 commandment of the law is like disobeying the WHOLE Law.
So yeah, if those gun toting Israelite LARPers want to access the prerogatives of Israelites, they better obey to the same commandments: do the Sabbath (no light, can't get past a given distance from their home), stone adulterers, circumcise their son, not eating pork, pay the tithe....and all the other 600+ commandments of the Law. Oh and they also better keep Jesus out of their mouth since Jesus fulfilled the Law and there's no point to invoke Jesus while still entertaining the very same things He precisely came to put an end to🙃
They can't pick and chose what they want from the Law while leaving out the rest. That's how you know how wack the theology of those people are. And it's tragic how many people get fooled by this. false doctrine. Interestingly enough, they will never answer to this question:
if Jesus refused to defend himself/use violence out of obedience to the Father, what makes you think you can? Where does the entitlement of disobey a commandment that Jesus himself followed come from??
If you're interested I made a very throughout debunking of the pro gun Christian stance on my Christian side blog
