[Video Description: an even if Tempest "AMV" created using Windows Movie Maker 2012 and intentionally exported at a lower resolution to create stuttering and lower quality images. The AMV plays over a segment of the song Bring Me To Life, by the band Evanescence. It opens with an opening credits message reading: "WARNING: HETERO GIRL X BOY DON'T LIKE DON'T WATCH." and continues by panning and zooming over CGs from the Tyril route of even if Tempest, with simple video effects such as monochrome and color inversion used sparingly. The video ends with credits reading "CREDITS EDITED BY xXev41ud4teXx SONG bring me to life evanescene PICTURES even if tempet I OWN NOTHING!!!!!!" End Video Description.]
Good afternoon, lovely listeners! Today we are continuing and hopefully concluding our discussion of the Tyril route of even if Tempest! If you have any questions about this man, his route, or the game over all, please reply here or send us an ask!

Luna's Review: even if TEMPEST
Official Summary:
In a world where witch trials and witch hunts are commonplace, a tragedy occurs.
Bolstered by the power to rewind time via death, the heroine Anastasia throws herself to the flames to save those she loves... and to achieve sweet revenge.
.
(SPOILERS) Luna's Thoughts:
I've decided not to bother with route discussion for this game, because aside from a choice of two characters at the beginning, the order is predetermined.
I'll say it right up front. This game made me angry. It is poorly written, with nonsensical mechanics and an arbitrary magic system. I was so excited based on the premise of this game and it's nothing but a let down the whole time.
The game starts by showing you what a poor, pathetic person Anastasia is. She's been locked up for years in a tiny room, picked on by her older stepsister and treated like garbage for her father for a reason which, by the way, is never explained. The game sort of implies it's because his new wife is a witch at the beginning, but nope, she's just a terrible person who doesn't like Anastasia. And her father is just cool with that...ok.
Then you get a try at the witch trial system, which I figured would be something like a tutorial for later, but again, nope. Nothing you choose matters here and Anastasia just decides killing herself is a better option.
Then you get another go, this time becoming engaged to Prince Conrad. For no reason whatsoever, he puts you in charge of the kingdom's finances. What? Anastasia is literally an uneducated shut-in who hasn't been out of her room in eight years. But let's put her in charge of the entire kingdom's financial documents?
Anyway, Anastasia then discovers Prince Conrad is doing bad things through the financial documents and we can't have that getting out, so she dies again. Eventually she goes back in time and gets to redo her past, this time breaking out of her tiny room and becoming a badass night. This is the only major move I enjoyed in this entire narrative.
This is about three hours into the damn game, btw, and you still have made zero choices. When you get to your first choice, which involves how you treat a rude man at a bar, again, it seems like a tutorial. The first choice you make dooms you to death. Then the game explains that you should go back and choose the other option.
Oh, ok, I thought. This is how the game teaches you that your choices have consequences in a visual novel. But again, NOPE. The second choice also kills you for some reason, and you have to go back yet again and choose a third option that has just appeared. Why do this?
This is the part of the game where you are introduced to the Scary Murder Clown, who is basically the lazy way that this game kills you if you make the wrong choice. To me, it felt like they wanted to add more "interactivity" by adding more choices but didn't feel like writing proper branches or coming up with actual ways that choice dooms you. So you just get Scary Murder Clown sometimes for no reason.
Finally, you get a choice of two characters, and you can pick either the Tyril I Lister route or the Crius Castlerock route. I picked Crius first and while the route itself was fine, in the end, he makes an absolutely baffling choice for seemingly no reason. (Jk I know the reason. It's to end the route lol.)
I never felt particularly attached to Crius because there isn't much depth to his character, apart from a mysterious disease that doesn't end up being a problem anyway due to a convenient plot twist.
Tyril's route was more interesting, and he was my all around favorite character because I love a tsundere. But again, he makes an absolutely stupid decision at the end for the express purpose of moving the game along.
Then you're shunted to Zenn's route before heading off to Prince Lucien's route and finally, to the end of the game. Neither one was remarkable so I remember very little about either of them, except Zenn is from Earth and Lucien is Good Boy McGoodBoy. Honestly, none of the characters bothered me that much, they were mostly fine.
What bothered me most is what I thought would be the most fun for me, the witch trials (or Carnival, as they call it here) ended up being a huge disappointment. I figured it would be a DanganRonpa-style logic game where you have to choose your ammo carefully, but the game actually has safety rails installed that make any choice pointless. For example, you're asked to decide which characters to investigate in a short period of time. If you pick the wrong ones, the game dead ends and you have to go back and pick the right ones. So what's the point of asking you to choose??
If you pick the wrong options during the witch trial, similarly, the game will correct you and let you try again. What. Is. The Point.
Not to mention the entire witch trial system is very silly. There are lots of stupid little rules that seem to have been created to make the game operate a certain way and move the story along rather than to create a cohesive system. If you wrote down all the rules in a list, they would seem arbitrary, confusing and often pointless. This was supposed to be a witch trial, not the Death Note.
And here is my absolute favorite (read: most loathed) part of all this. When you finish the regular game, you will have questions. So many questions. How does the game address this? There is a literal Q&A that you can go through to "tie up" all the loose ends. I use quotation marks because some of the answers do not actually answer the questions at all. For example, the Scary Murder Clown is not fully explained.
All in all, this game left me frustrated. The overall plot wasn't awful, but it's riddled with strange narrative choices and bad gameplay. It would have been a much smoother and less idiotic game if it ran like a regular visual novel.
All in all, I would not recommend this game. I know I'm in the minority and a lot of others liked it, but I don't see how anyone with common sense would enjoy even if TEMPEST.

Even if TEMPEST | Otome Game Review
Hii!! Cheers to my second review 🥳
‼️ BEFORE YOU READ THIS: BEWARE OF SPOILERS!! MASSIVE SPOILERS ‼️
Okay okay so this has to be one of my FAVS!!! AHHH like I wish this otome was longer 😩 I love how intense and every sec puts me in the edge of my seat. The plot was SO CAPTIVATING FOR ME and even the characters. There wasn’t a lot of romance overall but the plot makes up for it! I’m the type to like the plot over the romance and this otome definitely did it for me! I loved the heroine, she’s so strong and brave and it made the whole plot so much better with her being her. The guys were *chefs kiss*. They were finneeeee.
Basically to summarize it in my words (not the best of summarizing)… she lives in a household where she was neglected and bullied all her life by her family. She lives in this run down room but one day she gets told that she will marry this crown prince (Conrad) but ends up dying in her *first life*. She meets this kid in the afterlife (?) and he tells her to help him catch the witch of the ruin (aka the villain of the game) and gains the ability to rewind time. Through all the rewinding, she makes friendships, relationships, etc. But in every route, we see so many crazy events that happen with the other side characters. We are immersed in a dark fantasy world filled with intrigue, mystery, and romance~
There are 4 love interests:
CRIUS CASTLEROCK
TYRIL I LISTER
ZENN SORFIELD
LUCIEN NEUSCHBURN
The recommended route to play: Crius ➤ Tyril ➤ Zenn ➤ Lucien ➤ ???
The route I enjoyed from most to least: Zenn ➤ Tyril ➤ Lucien ➤ Crius
⏳ Crius
Soooo he was the first route I played and woweee he sooo fine heheh but I overall did enjoy this. I do not remember much since I did play this game a while ago but all I remembered was how protective he is. He is also popular with the ladies and her mentor teehee. But there was this scene where he asked the heroine to take care of a bird and she finds out the girl bird is pregnant. There wasn't a lot of romance but it was a great start to the whole plot itself. The ending was so sad aaaaaaa!! When you finish his route, you get thrown into Tyril's route :)
⭐️ Rating: 2/5
⏳ Tyril
OH YES I LOVEDDDD his route so much. He is the investigator (not sure what the right name is called) but the person that judges and holds the investigation. He looks mean but he is sweet and is only sweet to her. He slowly falls in love with how fast and well she works and oh mah goodness... we find out he’s some ninja and he works with Conrad (this ugly spoiled prince that kills our girl in her first life). The reason is because he is devoted to following the descent of the goddess or something (but we find out Conrad and his family are FAKES). Sorry, I do not remember a lot but the gist of it 😭 The ending was so sad for him... :( but omg at the end of the game, when he finds out that she’s the goddess, he was so shocked and his attitude changed so quickly BAHAHA he’s so polite to her at the end.
⭐️ Rating: 4/5
⏳ Zenn
HANDS DOWN MY FAV!!! And look at him. HE SO HANDSOME AND GOOD LOOKING LIKE 😻😻! I was interested in him from the start because every time our girl rewinds, he would switch his roles. Turns out he remembers EVERY time the time rewinds and at first he thought our girl was the witch or working with the witch of the ruin. But no instead he falls in loveeee with her and tells her that he is from a different world (aka Japan). He protects her when she falls victim to the witch and helps her win the witch trials hehehehhehehe I absolutely loved him. He also can’t die because he is stuck in the world and has been trying to find his way back home. I think he was a baseball player (correct me if I’m wrong since my memory is hazy). But he is mah man 🙌
⭐️ Rating: 5/5
⏳ Lucien
AWWWW the prince. He dies so many time when I was playing the other route but you reach him last due to the plot. He have always liked her because they were childhood friends. At first, we saw him as a weak and crybaby prince but as you progress the route, you notice Lucien started to change and became more of a leader and fit for the throne. He is wholesome and cute 🥹 and I just wish there were more cute scenes with them together!
⭐️ Rating: 3/5
⏳ ???
This is just the common end once you finish all the routes but 1. I HATED CONRAD >:( and 2. Maya is so cute and I love her. Maya is her maid and she been through thick and thin for Anastasia. The ending was basically the witch of the ruin loses and our girl meets the goddess and was like I am my own person, I am not like you, which is so BADASS (I love her so much) and yeah perfect ending. I lowkey want a route for the witch of the ruin because he saur fine and all he wanted was the goddess to come back. He a loyal boy but uhhh his ways were odd HAHAH. But I loved this game so much and I could not put it down!!!
⭐️ Overall Rating: 5/5 <3333
Gameplay hours: 20+ hours
Soundtrack: 5/5
Art: 5/5

ꕥ — WELCOME TO EXO COSMIA, TYRIL I LISTER. 🌑
ꕥ — OOC INFORMATION;
name / alias: kyuu age: 29 pronouns: any ooc contact: twitter/tumblr @ kyuu333 other characters in xc: ryuunosuke naruhodou (ace attorney), an shiraishi (project sekai), missile (ghost trick)
ꕥ — IC INFORMATION;
name: Tyril I Lister age: 26 pronouns: he/him series: even if TEMPEST canon point: post-Parting Memoirs IV (Lucien route clear) app triggers: alcoholism, torture, genocide, witch hunts, child endangerment, abuse, dehumanization, suicide/suicidal ideation, religion in a fantasy setting, age gap relationship mention
personality:
Tyril comes off as nothing but abrasive and mean at first glance. He's not afraid to insult virtually anyone he meets, friend or foe or complete stranger. He’s quick to threaten violence when someone irritates him. He seems like a huge narcissist too, flaunting his accomplishments and often proclaiming how amazing he is while looking down on everyone else. Flattery seems to work on him, but it's actually only when he’s willing to play along with it. Most people back home are intimidated by him. His crass attitude along with his shunned occupation of inquisitor make him nearly impossible to approach.
The people who aren't pushed away by that initial impression could get lucky enough to glimpse his true depths. He's incredibly clever and perceptive, scarily good at reading people and is always thinking several steps ahead. It's extremely difficult to lie to him and get away with it. His deductions are top notch, and those who get on his bad side quickly learn why he's such a renowned inquisitor.
He's not above using underhanded methods to achieve results. He'd torture someone without batting an eye, he welcomes bribes (of his favorite mead), and sells information to the press. However, it's all a means to an end to achieve justice and find the truth. He takes this job very seriously and his end goal will never be corrupted. Behind his rotten image, there is kindness and good intentions. He's always willing to help someone in need, even if he absolutely does not seem like it, preferring to wear a mask and act discreetly. His aloof, roundabout way of communicating often causes misunderstandings.
something your muse struggles with: self-worth and the inability to view himself as anything more than a tool for other people to use due to a whole life of being conditioned to think that way.
your muse’s greatest strength: being an extremely reliable jack-of-all-trades; he excels in a great number of skills and holds a vast sea of knowledge in his mind.
history / background:
Tyril Ishik Lister was born into the Ishik clan – they were a people subservient to the Goddess Norna and Her descendants, and they dedicated their lives to serving the royal family of the holy kingdom of Hystorica. The clan lived hidden away in the forest next to the kingdom. He was a slacker as a kid and hated sitting through history lessons. One day, he borrowed his friend's clothes as a disguise and snuck out of the village, into the forest. There, he came across three Hystorica knights of the royal guard. One of them was injured and he felt compelled to help him. He gave them medicine and supplies before dashing back to his village, though he'd learn later that the knights used the towel he gave them to track him.
Tyril told his father about the encounter, but his father just got mad at him for sneaking out and banished him to chores at the edge of the village. He worked into the night, sad that he was missing the village’s big festival, but because he was isolated he didn't realize that the genocide of his clan had begun. He forced himself out of the building to see his friends and family already slaughtered by knights. Helpless, he fled the village and hid in a cave which was unfortunately filled with snakes. He was bitten over and over as he hid there for three days waiting for the knights to disperse and developed a crippling phobia. Finally Karlsen, the same injured knight that he'd helped back then, found him and spared his life, granting him sanctuary at the church. Tyril learned that the king ordered for his clan to be destroyed for being suspected of witchcraft, and he became the sole survivor. He blamed himself for causing this, and the guilt would hang over him for the rest of his life.
A few years later, he was approached by the first-born son of the king, Prince Conrad Neuschburn. Conrad promised to restore the Ishik clan to its former glory if Tyril became his tool and worked hard enough to earn it. It’s implied that there was a bit of coercion, but since he already had a sense of obligation to serve the royal family, Tyril accepted and allowed himself to be used in heinous ways. He was trained in various skills and became a spy, committed theft, and took countless lives for Conrad, becoming his most useful tool. Though no one else knew his identity, they started calling him Conrad's “hound”. Some lives – probably the majority – that he took were innocent, but he didn't hold back for the sake of his duty. He didn’t allow himself to think twice about it lest he fall into despair.
At some point he was assigned to assassinate Crius Castlerock, vice commander of the Wings of Garuda. Tyril tried to get close to him with the intent of killing him, but Crius proved to be too challenging a target. Especially when Zenn Sorfield, a human made immortal due to being brought here from another world, came into the picture. Tyril gave up on the assassination effort and decided to genuinely befriend them both instead, desiring a connection with someone who wouldn't die on him so easily. The three ended up working together to expose some of Conrad’s hidden crimes, shutting down his illegal operations. Conrad evidently never found out who'd done this to him – Tyril continued to serve him, but he also grew close to his steadfast new friends that he felt he could trust. Zenn taught him about ninjas from his home world, which inspired Tyril to moonlight as a folk hero named Ninja who helped the common people from the shadows, much like Hystorica’s version of Robin Hood.
Tyril's day job was to be an inquisitor, whose duty was to persecute witches. He became famous thanks to his skill, though this garnered him more fear than respect from the public thanks to the job's reputation. He couldn’t care less what they thought of him. He believed that inquisitors did well to inspire fear as it's a method to combat the influence of witches. There was no ranking system in the Inquisitorial Order, but he'd unofficially become the boss. Besides him, there were only 7 other inquisitors, and they all respected and admired him, happily serving as his subordinates. He carried on with all the dirty work without complaint (besides badmouthing the cardinals) and often got drunk at the tavern with his two friends after work.
One night, he was recruited by Crius to help third-born prince Lucien Neuschburn locate his childhood friend, a woman named Anastasia Lynzel, who was also Crius’s cadet who mysteriously resigned from the Wings and disappeared a month ago. The three of them cornered Zenn, who apparently knew where Anastasia was hiding, and convinced him to bring them to her.
Anastasia told them a heavy truth – she had the power to turn back time every time she died thanks to a witch’s magic and had been using this to battle the Witch of Ruin, but every attempt ended in tragedy. She isolated herself in her estate, living horribly and suffering abuse from her family all to prevent the Witch of Ruin from finding her and causing more despair. She told Tyril of an alternate future where she became an inquisitor – his subordinate – and they uncovered a terrible revelation together. The current royal family didn't have a drop of the Goddess's blood in them, meaning that the Ishik clan wasn't meant to serve them. That explained why the king ordered the slaughter of his people, because they were a threat that could disprove the authenticity of the bloodline. This news was devastating to Tyril. He'd suspected this cruel truth before but didn't want to believe it. The atrocities that he committed for Conrad were for nothing – his clan and his entire existence was for nothing. His despair over this ran deeper and darker than Anastasia had anticipated. When all was said and done, the Tyril in this alternate future killed himself. Anastasia begged him not to repeat that in the current timeline.
Tyril eventually pulled himself together. He, Crius, Zenn, and Lucien teamed up to plot a way to take down the Witch of Ruin and free Anastasia and themselves from this insane plight. Tyril made full use of his Ishik knowledge and authority and refined Lucien's plan to convince the masses to resist the Witch of Ruin’s influence. One thing led to another and it was revealed that the true descendant of the Goddess Norna was none other than Anastasia herself. With that revelation, she and Lucien confronted and finally defeated the Witch of Ruin. Tyril was beyond relieved that he finally found his true master, and therefore started to find purpose in his life again.
But that's an early work in progress.
powers / abilities:
None
inherent abilities:
-Surprisingly outstanding combat prowess for an inquisitor, enough to rival even the most skilled of knights. Specialty in daggers and kunai
-Proficiency in sneaking, so much that it could be mistaken as magic with how well he can disappear into the shadows
-Resistance/immunity to most poisons
items / weapons:
Ishik Luxflavus - a pot of yellow flowers that are closely associated with his clan and thought to be extinct. They're a hardy species and the flowers shine in the dark. Used as an ingredient in medicine but he also just thinks they’re neat.
Ninja gear - a sneaking suit with daggers and kunai. He made the kunai himself.
Inquisitor’s whip - a normal whip.
starting ability: n/a starting item: Ishik Luxflavus
extra:
-Unfortunately in canon, Tyril and the other guys are love interests for Anastasia, who is (physically) 18 years old while Tyr and Cas are 26 and Zenn appears close to his friends’ age plus ~100 years of being immortal & isekai’d. I'm personally uncomfortable with that age gap and I'm sure other members are as well, so I'll be omitting ANY AND ALL mention of romance between Anastasia and these three ic. They still all share platonic bonds of varying strengths with her, though.
-I’m playing Tyril as a trans man, I know they explain in Dawning Connections why his gender got mistaken when he was little but let me have this ok
-He has tattoos around his neck and right arm as proof that he's part of the Ishik clan, usually he keeps these hidden under his clothes since revealing his status as an Ishik survivor back home would put him in needless danger.
-He’s so deathly afraid of snakes that seeing one sends him into an immediate panic attack regardless of if it's venomous or not. I hc that this trauma response only triggers with snakes he encounters in person, but he's uncomfortable seeing snake pictures too.

even if TEMPEST thoughts
In a world where witch trials and witch hunts are commonplace, a tragedy occurs. Bolstered by the power to rewind time via death, the heroine Anastasia throws herself to the flames to save those she loves... and to achieve sweet revenge. (From Nintendo Eshop)
Tyril I Lister
VA: Noriaki Sugiyama
Crius Castlerock
VA: Makoto Furukawa
Zenn Sorfield
VA: Shunsuke Takeuchi
Lucien Neushburn
VA: Kaito Ishikawa
Ranking: Tyril > Crius > Zenn > Lucien
What I Liked:
- MC Character Growth
Anastasia really grows from a weak person dreaming of the past to someone who pushes on for a brighter future with her loved ones. She doesn’t ever truly forgive the ones who wronged her in the past (rightfully so), but she casts that aside and lives for what’s coming next. Even in the midpoints of the story, you can feel her determination, will to live, and to save the ones she cares about. even if TEMPEST was billed as more of a revenge story, and there are strong elements of that, serving to drive Anastasia, but the revenge falls to the side in favor of the larger plot.
- Great, expressive sprites
Lucien’s stressed sprite is what I live for. Tyril’s sprites fully express the indignation and outrage he feels, and seeing them enhanced the dialogue immensely, There’s no animation syncing the voiced dialogue, but the wide array of emotive character portraits is more than good enough as a substitue.
- Roses indicating right/wrong choice
Seeing if I made a bad choice right away was very helpful, especially as there’s no “skip to next choice” function. IIRC, it might take a few lines of dialogue to show up.
- CG Gallery + UI
The UI in this game mostly has the same controls as an Otomate game, which is beyond nice as I don’t have to deal with learning a new set of controls while reading. I also appreciated that in the gallery, the game tells you in what chapter the missing CGs are located. FYI, the bad end/good end CGs are both labeled as in the same chapter.
- The Manwha-esque plot
I ADORE otome isekai manwha, where the heroine is reincarnated or sent to her past. The evil, innocent-looking stepsister, horrible fiance, evil stepmother, and hated heroine tropes are in here at full force (at least in the common route) and I loved it. Also, in my opinion, even if TEMPEST didn’t fall into some of my common complaints about this manwha genre, namely when the heroine doesn’t tell her love interests about the reincarnation and when it’s all just a power fantasy.
What I Didn’t:
- No MC Voice
I would have loved to hear Anastasia be outraged in the trials, done with her friends, tender in the romantic moments, or crying in the sadder cutscenes. With the amazing voice cast for even if TEMPEST, I have no doubt Anastasia’s casting would have been knocked out of the park.
- Jumpscare
That was utterly terrifying. I don’t have any particular objection to its inclusion, but I almost dropped my Switch into a bowl of pineapple.
- Typos
There was an issue where the last letter of each sentence got cut off in the displayed text in certain sections where text was displayed over a still image.
- Crashes
I believe my game crashed four or five times. Luckily, I had saved recently so not much progress was lost, but I’ve heard that other players experienced much more frequent crashes. Keep your copy updated!
Final Thoughts:
Definitely play this, though maybe wait for a sale if you aren’t willing to pay $50 for 15-25 hours of playtime. The plot was strong throughout, though I do wish the romance had a little more place in the story. Zenn and Lucien’s routes suffered from a focus on the plot, so I didn’t really feel Anastasia and her LIs getting closer. The epilogues were short and largely unsatisfactory (I hated Zenn’s. Tyril’s I wish had focused more on the character dynamics rather than a cute moment), but the main routes were strong enough that I don’t mind it too much. Though if a fandisc comes out, I’m going to snap it up as soon as possible.

Evaludate Episode 100: Diversity Win! (Tyril I Lister of even if Tempest, part 2)
Summary:
Today on Evaludate: hazardous weather conditions and wizard curses aren't going to stop us from recording our 100th episode, Madelyn drops the bit, witch trials continue to be a shameful blight on human history, and oh good lord there is always some shit happening to children in this game.

[Image Description: A screenshot of the visual novel even if Tempest, which has been edited. The screenshot depicts the character Tyril I Lister with a grimace of disgust on his face. His dialogue box reads: "Augh! Enough of those earnest eyes!". An image of the TBH Creature, with the hair of protagonist Anastasia Lynzel edited onto it, appears semi-transparent, looming in the lower right corner of the image and staring forward. END ID.]

Evaludate Episode 99: The Devil Is Real (Tyril I Lister of even if Tempest, Part 1)
Summary:
On today's TWO HOUR EVALUDATE SPECIAL, we're getting into the real-world history of witch hunting and witch trials around Europe and North America, Madelyn insists that everyone else insisting that she would like Tyril is still wrong, and being a murder suspect is boring now--it's time to get deputized.
Content Warnings:
Discussion of antisemitism and islamophobia: 13:23 - 14:45, 54:28 - 54:55
Sexual Assault: 25:17 - 25:59
Emetophobia: 1:06:08 - 1:07:31
CSA: 1:16:50 - 1:17:20
Suicide: 1:16:50 - 1:17:20
Incest: 1:30:43 - 1:31:05, 1:34:04 - 1:34:16
Corrections, Notes, and Sources:
Air misspoke when saying Pope John XXII’s declaration of witchcraft as heresy in 1320 took the form of a papal bull. Though the pope eventually described witchcraft and announced that anyone who engaged with it would be excommunicated in his 1336 papal bull Super illius specula, his initial 1320 judgment was outlined in Cardinal William of Santa Sabina’s “Letter of 22 August 1320, to Inquisitors of Carcassone and Toulouse”
In the episode, Air stated that Matthew Hopkins charged around £20 per town, in reference to how much he was reported to have charged the town of Stowmarket in A.G. Hollingsworth’s History of Stowmarket (1844). According to the records, he charged £23 plus traveling expenses. Hopkins himself, however, stated that he only took “twenty shillings a town” (A History of Witchcraft In England from 1558 to 1718)
Please note that some of Air’s sources are primary documents, and tread carefully. There are a lot of hot stoves in this source list.
