It's funny to me when people insist that "ATLA was really feminist" as if there wasn't really only one feminist message which was the very generic "girls can fight too" spiel that every 2000s show had going on whenever they briefly tried to jump on the feminism bandwagon or whatever

If you treat this like a joke, I'll kill you. Think of Veth's welfare here. Who does she DESERVE to get dicked down by? Because we all want good things for Veth. Give me your reasoning in the tags. Who is the better lover for her?

i meant to post abt this after the episode on thursday but the way beau said "i fucking hated her when we met" makes me wonder if there's going to be a kimallura-esque (in tlovm s3 flashbacks) enemies-to-lovers storyline for beauyasha in the animated series, which i would be really excited to see. i could be being delusional but as much as beau and yasha had a pretty awkward relationship at the beginning of the campaign that turned to resentment for a time once yasha was taken by obann (a resentment based on beau's blooming trust in yasha at the time), i would never have described beau's attitude towards yasha when they met as hatred. i mean... episode one is "will you hold me through the show?"
pike's journey in tlovm has been the most interesting for me to watch as someone who has seen all of c1 bc it's the most unexpected and new for me since they have changed a lot to allow pike to be with the party more. i'm super excited to see if/in what ways they do similar things for yasha's story in m9 animated. i expect her to definitely leave the party at times since they went into c2 knowing that would be part of her character and it became a pretty integral aspect of yasha's story, but there's so much room for more fleshed out dynamics with the party and if that includes beau and yasha feuding i will be thrilled.

You ever think about how Ryne probably got a more honest yet closed-off Thancred while Minfilia got a more disingenuine yet open Thancred?
Like, the Thancred Minfilia knew and grew up with was the one we saw in arr, the flirty, teasing and sassy but friendly man who was clearly not very honest seeing as no one- not even Minfilia- noticed how worn out he was from his constant work. Even just by hw he's noticably more prickly and. not quite rude but. more outwardly cynical? He's always been kinda cynical, but in arr his teasing and banter hides it well, which never disappears but is more. natural? genuine? now. Krile directly points out that he's much more brusque than she expected of him based on how Minfilia described him.
And sure, you could attribute that behaviour to his grief and stress (which is certainly a part of it) but considering he acts much the same in ew, when he's finally moved on and come to terms with everything (and is also post-shb character development), I think it's safe to say that this is the most honest we've seen Thancred be.
But this is all Ryne has known him to be. She's never seen Thancred be flirtatious or as social and friendly as he is in arr, she's only seen him be brusque and cynical but still teasing and kind. But he's also far more closed off from her (and others) bc of That Whole Deal going on. Urianger has told her more about Thancred's true feelings than Thancred himself has. and even that's not a lot, for Urianger is not only not a mind reader and doesn't know everything that goes on on Thancred's head, but also is reluctant to share more than is necessary since it's not his place to divulge these things (and also he himself is not free from the folly of emotional self-isolation).
With Minfilia though, he's open enough that she's never doubted that he cared for and loved her even when he couldn't spend much time with her, and she felt comfortable enough to admonish him when he did his usual self-destructive behaviour (you know, becoming an alchoholic at 17 and All That Entails)
Just. food for thought
#theres a lot of these parallels between ryne & minfilia in regards to their relationship with thancred#like. the way things are so similar yet so *different* from each other#same same but opposite ya know#like how thancred blames himself for warburtons death and by extention minfilia being orphaned even tho it was in no way his fault#vs how he knowingly took ryne away from ran'jit bc he knew that whatever other life shed live would be better than what she had#when minfilia first experienced the echo thancred knew wat it was but didnt tell her (for circle of knowing related reasons)#whereas he told ryne everything he could in regards to her powers and circumstances#he gifted minfilia her dagger for self-defense but never taught her how to fight#but ryne was not only gifted daggers by him but also taught how to properly fight and fend for herself with them#and he trusted minfilia in the main care of f'lhaminn while he took a more secondary support role#but he assigned himself the primary caretaker for ryne while the others (read: urianger) became secondary ones#(granted due to rynes situation he kinda had no other choice at the time)#(but im sure he wouldve taken the same role even if he could theoretically have safely handed her over to someone else)#also just to be clear thancred IS genuinely social and friendly even hw & up#just not as extroverted#he spends a lot of time either by himself or with fellow scions/other close companions#rather than with whatever lady hes trynna impress next#anyway. yet another day of being Completelt Normal about this complicated family situation#thancred waters#ryne waters#minfilia warde#final fantasy#final fantasy 14#final fantasy xiv#ff14#ffxiv#xander rambles#xander being insane about ryne

Im frothing at the bit for this Ashton and Laudna conversation. They are ludicrously sharp with eachother, cutting, while also bluntly slamming in to eachother. A glass hammer, or a bone one, fitting.
“This is not the person I thought I was going to be.“
“Who the fuck are you and where the fuck did you come from?“
Laudna getting pissed, genuinely pissed that Ashton implies they know loneliness and the badness of humanity better than her.
“You’re scaring me Ashton, and that’s coming from me.“ “Good.“
Ashton hates all of them a little bit. Jealous, Laudna notes.
“I love you all just a little bit.“
“Well let's keep figuring it out, shall we? and then you won't have to be so jealous of us.“
God. It’s not close to done. I can’t wait to see where it goes. I can’t wait to see what they break and what they fix and what they refuse to and what they share and what they don’t and what they take from all this.

Rough idea but- Valerie has hunted Phantom down into the cemetery, planning to blast him for good then and there. She can't remember why she's so angry, more than she ever had, but she finally caught him. Phantom back is to the grave, as ectoplasm leaks from him, having been hit by Valerie's blasts. He'd been trying to plead with her all night. This was his final chance to get her to listen. She has a blaster pointed to him, ready to pull the trigger. When Phantom tells her to wait- Saying she can't shoot him on someone's grave! That's just asking for someone to haunt her. She at first rebuts that she knows ghosts are only made by person's consciousness being imprinted on ectoplasm. Which Phantom reinstates what do you think is going to happen once she spills his ectoplasm everywhere. Valerie shoves phantom off the grave, blaster still pointed towards him as she wipes off the grave stone. "IF you dare come back Valerie Gray, I'll-"
Valerie freezes as she takes in what the tombstone says. They share a name.. and a birthday.. this can't. "I've been trying to tell you...." Phantom sits up, white ring around his waist. Valerie stands back up, fury back in her eyes. "This is a trick! I'm-" White rings reveal Phantoms true form, the boy she adored. Danny spoke with teary eyes, ectoplasm spill from his face and gut. He spoke in a cracked voice, "I wish it was, Val.."
Okay rough cut of the scene BUT WHAT IF Valerie died as red huntress and come back as a ghost. She doesn't remember Danny having told her his identity, but just feels RAGE. Only to have her memories come back in horrifying revelation, that she died. The one person Danny failed to protect.. and it killing him.. physically and figuratively. Only reason he's trying to get sense into her, instead of letting her destroy him.. is because they have bigger issues-and he knows Valerie wouldn't want to go this far. Valerie's dad has taken over as Red hunter and he's teamed up with the Fentons- and got them arrested after the reveal that Vlad was a ghost. The Fentons wanted to save Vlad, realizing there is error in their findings. Val's Dad did not agree and now he's works like a rogue agent of the GIW. He is distraught at his daughter's death and is hellbent on eradicating ghosts in her honor. Right as the reveal happen that Valerie realizes she died, is when she finds out what happen to her father. He has his gun raised at them, right there in the cemetery. Asks Valerie to forgive him, but he "knows" this isn't his daughter. Danny pushes Valerie out of the way. He gets hit again and screams out in pain. Valerie wastes no time in hauling her and Danny out of there. So much on her mind as she leaves with only a short glance back at her father.

i know the popular go-to for stevetony bridgerton aus is kate and anthony, but how do we feel about daphne and simon? omega tony meeting his older brother bucky's best friend and them instantly disliking each other because tony thinks steve is rude and steve thinks tony is engineering a meeting solely because he's an eligible duke? fighty steve going to punch the alpha trying to take liberties with tony, who he doesn't even like, only for tony to do it first? realizing they have a common enemy in the politics of the marriage mart and deciding to fake a courtship? steve abruptly realizing that he has Big Time feelings but he's not what tony deserves because he won't have kids and tony wants them so he gives him up, thinking it's the right thing to do? steve's self-image issues because he was frequently sick as a kid and tony telling him that he loves him no matter what? the blowout that occurs when tony discovers that steve has been lying to him about not being able to have kids (we do not acknowledge the marital rape part in this house, we do not see it, no ma'am)? reconciling after they both bend a little and steve decides that it doesn't matter the father he had, only the father he'll be (if you'll pardon the mandalorian reference there) and tony decides that if he never has kids but always has steve he'll still be happy?
how do we feel about that? (and consequently, how do we possibly feel about an entire bridgerton au series?)

Spoilers for Episode 70, you know the drill.
Your mileage may vary, but I didn't read Laudna's reaction to Imogen and Ashton's "disappearance" as a serious situation. Marisha played it as seriously unhinged, but no one, including Ashton/Taliesin, reacted to it that way. If I were to bet on what would come of it, I'd say it'll be an excuse for Ashton to tease the hell out of her in E71, like the annoying sibling they are, and provide an opening for the two of them to talk about Laudna/Imogen's relationship. These are two actors/characters who have shown a repeated love for pushing each other's buttons to spur emotional conversations, which I love every time it happens.
But we'll see, as always. Whatever comes of it, I didn't read it as Laudna seriously threatening Ashton, more of a continuation of their ongoing "if anything happens to Imogen on your watch, I'll kill you" banter they've had going on for much of the campaign.
