Haven’t really been engaging with that much Genshin stuff because I’m so bummed about natlan…..

Like it all sucks, but speaking about something I have personal connection to:

I want to like Mualani (the white-hair, shark girl)….her name is from on a real Hawaiian chieftess, it’s also very close to my IRL name (Meilani)….also I freaking love sharks.

I want to be excited at cultural representation. But as an (admittedly white passing) mixed-Hawaiian myself—I’m just sad—not even at my palest in the midst of winter am I that pale. It feels like a betrayal to reference different cultures but not earnestly portray the people within.

Anyway, no hate to anyone who does like her, but please keep an open heart for your POC genshin friends or content creators who are sad and angry.

After last night's spectacular success (really, thank you for humoring me), I'm now looking at what it would take to upgrade the avatar. And while I know it would be quite easy to commission someone (other than that person because reasons), first I have to know what I am going to commission them for.

And, well, I haven't thought that far ahead yet.

This isn't a matter of Noxporium Branding, because I already know I will be using a different avatar (if I use one at all) for the professional side of readings. It's just, I have hidden myself for so long, I don't know what kind of face I want others to see. (?)

For years, I used a transparent 1x1 gif for my icon here on Tumblr. Before that, I used a crop from a picrew that was framed in an ouroboros because so magical, so woo. But I can count on one broken hand how many of y'all have seen my face.

I am replacing one mask for another, and I do not know what I want to be.

And I know it is because I'm not sure what I am.

And that's humbling.

At least, I don't think so.

So, in the Trials of Apollo series, it's revealed that Apollo has a demigod child whose mortal parent is a (presumably) cis man. And Apollo's basically just like "yeah I mean I'm a god of course I can have a baby with someone regardless of their ability to bear children".

In the first Percy Jackson series, meanwhile, it's established that the children of Athena are not born from sex, but rather a close intellectual and emotional connection, and, presumably, are birthed from Athena's skull in the same way Athena was born from Zeus's.

When it came to Angie in my Olympian Falls AU, I decided to combine these two ideas. Because it makes the most sense for Angie to be a child of Apollo, but Apollo would be more likely to go for Pa McGucket, not Ma McGucket. And also, Ma McGucket would never cheat on Pa McGucket, and I didn't want to go down the rabbit hole I went when I first started developing the AU, of having Ma McGucket thinking she was having sex with Pa McGucket, but it was a god in disguise.

(If you look far enough back in my Olympian Falls AU tag you can see that initial version of the AU, before I changed it after learning Apollo can have children with dudes.)

That is in line with what the gods would do in traditional Greek mythology, but a bit out of bounds for their behavior in the Percy Jackson books.

(Also, with how self-centered Apollo is in the Percy Jackson books, I doubt he'd change his appearance to someone else to get with someone. Like, he thinks he's the hottest shit, he ain't gonna change that.)

ANYWAYS

I wound up going with this:

Pa McGucket meets Apollo (pretending to be human, of course) at a bar and strikes up a friendly conversation. Pa McGucket is a master sharpshooter, a lover of the arts (he likes to do art, but couldn't ever follow that dream due to his responsibilities), and a fantastic musician/singer. He checks off so many of Apollo's boxes. Apollo keeps trying to make moves on Pa McGucket, but Pa McGucket keeps politely turning him down.

But Apollo can't get this guy, this perfect man, out of his head. And so from the bond he formed with Pa McGucket, he creates a child as a gift for Pa McGucket. After all, the gods view their demigod children as gifts for their mortal lovers, and Apollo wants to give this mortal man something special. Which winds up being Angie. And Apollo pats himself on the back for this, because a child of his is like, the best gift he could give someone, in his mind.

(The exact mechanics behind Angie's creation, uh, I don't know, because the books aren't giving us the mechanics behind Athena's children and the child Apollo has with a cis guy.)

Angie, like all the children of the goddesses, which are born on Mount Olympus, is brought down to Earth by Zephyrus in a golden cradle. On the same day that Lute is born. So Ma and Pa McGucket, after a firm conversation in which Pa McGucket is terrified his wife is going to leave him (which I have already written up but for some reason never posted? I better fix that), decide to act like Angie and Lute are twins and Angie's just a normal kid.

But, of course, Angie isn't just a normal kid.

She's a demigod.

the paragon n pistachio styles are just variants, theyre the same dude. Sona lore is that he's an shapeshifter agent of an Elder God, and his job was to keep an eye on humanity and the species of earth as they progressed. He mostly kept to the seas n his preferred form is the "Fish" esque form. one day he goofed up royally and now as punishment, his shapeshifting has been limited, and he's being forced to do a bunch of tasks for various elder gods whilst also living amongst humans (instead of simply observing from afar). He doesnt mind it too much, although he would like to be able to return to his 48 foot long kaiju form under the ocean sometimes.

he has a lot of variants n these are his more common ones, but tldr these are all the same character/sona, just in different eras/places/situations!
