Goro Akechi knows many things.

He knows the many crimes of Masayoshi Shido. He knows the gory details of his mother’s suicide. He knows the histories of the elusive Phantom Thieves, each a tragedy of its own merit.

What he didn’t know was that he was still capable of dreams that didn’t turn to nightmares that left him awake and trembling in a cold sweat, desperately trying to ease the memories from his mind.

Tonight was his first time dreaming in some time. He was sitting in LeBlanc, the Phantom Thieves around him. Sakamoto and Takamaki are playing a game of a piece of blank paper in a booth, Niijima and Okumura are chatting merrily over lattes and delicious-looking pastries, and Isshiki- no, Sakura, he reminds himself- is playing with that cat at the counter.

Kurusu is behind said counter, smiling gently as he prepares another round of coffees and curries, his glasses fogged up from the constant steam that rises from his work.

Akechi sits at the counter as well, near the payphone in his usual seat. The book in front of him definitely has words, but he can’t read a single bit of it. It looks like English, but the letters are scrambled and warped beyond any hope of recognition.

The bell to the front door rings, and everyone, Akechi included, turns their head to look at who it is.

And Akechi suddenly feels as though he can’t breathe, because his mother is standing there, alive and well and beaming from ear to ear and suddenly Goro sees the resemblance between them in the way her brown hair falls around her face and her red eyes shine like rubies in certain lighting and the way she holds herself. And Goro finds himself wrapped up in her arms, sobbing, and the Phantom Thieves have their eyes on each other but they’re definitely still watching as though they’re the audience of one of those terrible TV interviews he keeps accepting.

“My son, my beautiful son, how you’ve grown so handsomely,” his mother murmurs into his hair, tucking it behind his ear and pressing a kiss against it, gently pulling away to cup his cheeks. Her gaze is soft and warm, kind and lovely. Goro wants to sob some more like a little child.

“Goro, how sorry I am for leaving you behind so young... How I wish to go back, to watch in person as you grow. Forgive me, Goro, I beg you...” His mother sinks to her knees at her son’s feet, hands still wrapped in his, her hair falling around her like a curtain, hiding her weeping face.

Goro can’t speak, so he kneels down in front of her, rests their foreheads together, looks at her for as long as he dares before bringing her to her feet as he rises.

His mother pulls him into another hug, and Goro smells cherry and vanilla- her perfume. There’s a hint of lavender there too, eerily similar to how Sakamoto smells when he’s close enough.

“Mom-” he chokes out, and his mother looks at him with the same odd tenderness that he sometimes saw Kurusu look at him with, or perhaps the warmth of Sakamoto. The determination of Takamaki. The resiliance of Niijima. The pureheartedness of Okumura. The tenacity of Isshiki Sakura.

He sees the Phantom Thieves in the simple, gentle gaze of his mother. And he feels as though he can’t breathe, but he continues to gasp for air and cling to her, cling to the memory of her warmth against his body, her gentle touch on his back, the kisses she peppers his hair with.

And when he wakes up, he swears he can still smell cherry-vanilla perfume mixed with lavender shampoo and coffee as it lingers in the air.

i love the detail that the words on the page can't be read. dreams are like ai generated images. there will be things out of place, words you cant read, distorted hands with missing or additional fingers, clocks that dont work, lights that dont turn on. idk im a person who likes dreams.

anyway onto the actual fic DOES RYUJI REMIND AKECHI OF HIS MOM??? IM GOING TO SCREAMMM when hes in his dream and the smell reminds him of ryuji... then he wakes up and he still smells it... also that must feel horrible whenever he wakes up, being so happy to see that person again only for it to be a dream and just wanting to go back to sleep forever and live in your mind...

lol im gonna put this under a cut so its not massive, but here u go, sob story!

so i think i mentioned that my former apartment got lit on fire, so i had to move to a new place because i was too fuckin scared to live in that place anymore. upside, the guy who blew up my furnace got fired, so W

lived in apartment 2 for a while, it was pretty good, but extremely lonely! i had no local friends At All and like, exactly 1 online friend, so i was wallowing in a sea of loneliness for like, a solid year and a half living there. woe is me, whatever. eventually decided fuck this place, i wanna move back to new york-- i went to uni there, i was born there, i loved it there so i wanted to go back. bought a house, WHEEE-- THAT was a hell of a nightmare, house had code violations, contract was a mess, it was a whole stressful thing. but we got it settled. i have a house now! so that's cool!

but it's also not! because i had a friend/situationship i guess? in new york and i invited them to live with me bc they needed somewhere to live, i'd feel more comfortable having a roommate bc im still afraid to cook and use heat or anything, it was a win win. we went on a few dates back in like, 2020, and i was like, we'll see where things go romantically! without really any expectations of whether we'd get together or not, since ive changed a LOT since 2020 and i really didnt know them all that well. but hey, potential partner! we'll call them jill.

wrench got thrown in THAT when i met a guy, oops! started modding for a pretty big youtuber who's also become one of my best friends, and met a wonderful guy. we very much fell for each other and are now dating. we'll call him levi. told jill hey, i met someone, so suna x jill isnt gonna happen. that didnt go well! jill was apparently much more under the impression that we were gonna date than i was, and was/is very heartbroken about it. whoops! so now i live with someone who is currently still in love with me, while dating someone else! yikes!

which would be fine if there wasnt also a shitload of drama about jill cleaning up their stuff! they've been here for almost 5 months and ive had to ask them dozens of times to please get their huge piles of stuff out of the middle of the floor bc i needed paths for the movers to get their stuff in, i need to unpack my own stuff, etc. they got so upset about me asking them to do this (bear in mind, literally the entire living room was full of stuff FLOOR TO CEILING, and i've given them plenty of warning on dates i was coming to renovate/paint/when my move-in date was) that they threatened to move out and i was like? ok? then move out LMAO. also their cat injured one of my cats and ripped a hole in his ear!

so yes, a lot of unnecessary stress and drama on top of already dealing with all the shit involved with interstate moving, new finances, job changes, relationship changes, all that. the upside being, im very very very happy with levi, im starting to feel settled in my new house, things at my job have calmed down, and things are overall pretty okay. im aware that im extremely privileged to be able to own a house (granted, in an area with a very low cost of living-- the house was like 150k which is actually a semi-sane house price, compared to my friends with 700k homes and stuff LOL) and that my problems arent really all that bad, but topped with the dystopian state of the world right now and the existential dread ive had for months because of it, its just Not been a good time in the suna world. but its ok. things are calming, im making the best of it, and we'll see how things go from here!

Animal update

On a different note I’ve been so busy because I keep attracting babies? I found my two kittens a home only to come back from visiting family in Germany to have another kitten in my house because the care taker thought it was one of my cats.

This is little miss stranger danger, she will be staying with me as she was a wild dog a nightmare when she spent the night at someone’s home that wanted to adopt her.

But besides her, baby skunks and possums have been born, two coyote pups also showed up that we gave them treatment for mange. Once they got there fur back haven’t seen em since really they don’t care for my cats luckily but they like the cat food.

Trevor is dumb and tried to play with the skunks almost got sprayed😭☠️

Artur wandered around the tents as he pondered what spell one might use to kill those pesky floating eyeballs. What kind of weak point did they have? Usually when fighting a person, one would-

Someone was crying. Arthur's ears perked up at the sound. He wandered around the tents till he found Lute's buttoned shut. She sat in it, sobbing as though it was her first time since infancy.

Immediately he opened the tent and poked his head inside.

"Are you alright?" he asked.

Lute looked up and was silent in an instant.

"I'm fine, leave me alone," she demanded.

"Clearly you're not, please just tell me what's wrong," he said.

"No, you're part of the problem," she muttered.

Well, that was an odd response. As far as Artur knew, he'd done nothing to hurt Lute, at least not on purpose. What could he possibly have said or done that made her so upset?

"Can I know what it is? I want to apologize but I can't if I don't know what it is."

Lute rubbed her eyes and finally looked at him. But only for a moment. She looked back at the ground and toyed with the hem of her dress.

"I sometimes say things and you guys say it's mean and that I should apologize, but you never say why it's mean and you always get upset when I ask why," she explained, "I can't tell when I say mean things, because my brain works differently from others, but no one believes me."

Artur thought for a moment. Those things actually affected her? She always seemed so... Unfeeling. She hardly reacted when she was insulted or when she was injured. And this was just a small thing, he didn't say things like that often... At least, he couldn't think of examples off the top of his head.

But it made sense. Being in such a confusing situation where someone was also upset with you couldn't be fun.

"I'm sorry, Lute. I'll try remember that next time and I promise I'll be more patient with you," he said.

"Thanks," she muttered.

Lute moved to Artur's side. She hugged him tight. Of course he hugged her back, but he was still surprised. Lute never spoke of how she felt. Not when she was injured, not when she was mad. And she certainly never hugged him.

Artur had known Lute for years and she was finally willing to open her heart to him. Knowing that pleased him more than anything else. He cared deeply about her and now, he could actually help.

"Thank you for telling me how you feel," he whispered.

"Hmph," was Lute's only reply.

She hugged him as tight as he could. Such a friend was rare and should be treasured. It would be a shame to let go of him.

She leapt on the rotten log. "Blackhowl." She called, knowing the tom was happy to hear his oriignal name. "You will be the deputy of Burntclan. Bearnose, as we have no medicine cat, you will accompany me to the moonstone."

Wolfclaw smiled at her mate, as he helped her settle down, gazing along the glittering pool of water. she lapped genty at the water. She grew dizzy, and the next time she opened her eyes, stars glittered everywhere.

Bearnose remained asleep by her side, as she stood. throat bobbing, her mouth went dry as she spotted her two lovely kits, marshkit and beetlekit.

"My darlings.." She nuzzled at the cute kits, it was still bright here, like it was midday.

Stepping forward, was doublefish, she sighed, ears flattening softly as she walked towards the tom. "doublefish, im so.. im so sorry, i couldnt save you."

He smiled. Then leaned forward and pressed his nose to her head. "With this life, I give you Acceptance. Use it well to understand others, and most importantly yourself." 

Pain pulsed through her, and she gasped, her fur sticking on end, as bluethistle replaced her brother. She ran her nose upwards of wolfclaws cheek, landing on her forehead. "With this life, i give you Strength to act without fear or judgement. Use it well, and dont ever doubt yourself."

Wolfclaw panted, pain courrsed through her, she didnt even get to say goodbye to the warrior, before another cat took her place.

Bramblewhisker smiled at her, and placed her muzzle atop wolfclaws head. "With this life, I grant you mothers love, use it to treat your clanmates as you would your own kits."

Wolfclaw felt tears in her eyes, remembering how bramblewhisker, though her pelt was on fire, passed her each one of her kits through the small hole, even though only jaypaw had lived. she felt like her pelt was on fire, like she was bramblewhisker.

Root was fast, swooping past bramblewhisker and smiling at her. "I give you the life of Understanding not only warriors protect the Clan."

Wolfclaws pelt pulsed, as phantom approached slowly, replacing his mate.

"I gift you the life of Survival. Use it well, and survive, no matter what." Phantom leaned back, and she felt overwhelming pressure on her back, right where the burning tree had landed on phantom when he passed.

Bitterpaw shuffled forward, a gentle expression on his face as he pressed his nose to her temple. "With this life,i grant you the life of Making difficult choices, you will wonder if you made the right decision." He said.

Marshkit stepped forward, the little kit almost falling. she bent down, to his level as he nudged her temple.

"With this life, i grant you the life of Understanding that size isn't everything. even small cats have sharp claws!" She then bounded away, as wolfclaw broke into more coughing.

It eased up, as Yewstar stepped forward, the large ginger tom smiling, as he stared at Wolfclaw. "Almost done." He assured her, and she panted, pushing her head into his chest.

"Wolfclaw, i still remember when you joined dewclan." He said, a smile on his face. "You were young, and traveling with bearnose. you begged to join, said cats led you here. and back then, i saw you as an enthusiastic kit." He licked her ear. "Now i understand starclan always wanted you to go down this path. i know you were worried, scared you wouldnt be a great leader. but trust me, i know you will."

She sobbed. "Its so hard!" She sook against his chest. "What if i fail?"

"You wont." He assured, using his paw to make her look at him. "With this life, i grant you Sensing danger to protect yourself and burntclan." When his nose brushed her forehead, she felt tranquil.

"I hail you by your new name, Wolfstar. Your old life is no more. You have now received the nine lives of a leader, and StarClan grants you the guardianship of Burntclan. Defend it well; care for young and old; honor your ancestors and the traditions of the warrior code; live each life with pride and dignity."

Wolfstar woke, turning towards where bearnose had been, but only to see him standing, talking to a group of cats. Her fur stood on end for a moment.

"Rogues?" Wolfstar questioned her mate with a hiss, "Five of them?!"

He ran his tail along her side. "Come on, trust me. ones a medicine cat: we can allow them to stay until one of the kits grow up and decide they want to be a healer. or-- or! until we convince shellspirit and jaypaw to come home."

Wolfstar huffed at the mention of their son. "I dont think they will change their minds. Especially not jaypaw."

"I get you're mad." Bearnose whispered, "But hes our son, wolfstar. I miss him."

She sighed and nuzzled him. "I miss him too."

(it’s been 3 days since bella passed but, even tho it intensely hurts, im learning to cope with it little by little. it took a lot of sobs and tears and a lot of guilt to wash away, and even though i shed a bit of tears smelling her plushies (they smell like her stinky breath heh) im doing better. your update made me smile and im happy to have good memories here bc of her and you)
