I have so many questions about Grumpy, especially the fact that he and Luffy are so close in age and so dramatically different in personality. How do he and Luffy get along? Does he grow up alongside ASL and if so how does that work? And when he announces he wants to be a Marine, how do his brothers react? I know that they are raised significantly less feral than in canon but I’m still picturing Ace, Sabo and Luffy running off into the wilderness with their pipes and Crocodile asking, “Aren’t you going to go play with your brothers?” and Grumpy not even looking up from his book and going, “Not even if you paid me.”

I just love him so much (And mini-Mingo too but I think you said she was a few years younger than Grumpy + Luffy so I'm imagining that Ace and Sabo were already off pirating/revolutionary-ing by the time she was old enough to join their hijinx)

All very good questions but I don't really know the answers either because surely the addition of other children is going to affect the dynamic. For example, Ace finds himself the fierce guardian of not only Luffy (who just showers him in constant sweet baby affection and a lot of crying) but also a second little brother. One that is a lot more reserved, doesn't offer smiles quite as willingly but at least he cries less than Luffy! Ace probably spends a lot of time with Luffy to give his parents a bit of time to look after the Grumpy. Once Luffy can walk, they're off in the village, at the beach. Just constantly on adventures.

And they will include Grumpy as soon as he's a bit older. I think there's just no way around being a bit feral if you're a Monkey D, with parents who don't really know what a normal childhood is.

And I think Luffy is getting a lot of pointers from Ace (and Sabo) about what a solemn duty it is to be a big brother. I think Luffy would just pull Grumpy along to play and fight and hunt wild animals.

It would probably also be one of the main ASL activities and competition to get a smile out of their grumpy little brother. Which isn't toooooo hard because I think he can be rather cheerful as well, especially as a child. He's just a lot more quiet and thoughtful than Luffy is, not as interested in beating each other up but the wildness of the D.clan lineage just has to find an outlet somehow! He and Dragon can sit at a desk for hours, just quietly reading and working. Sabo likes to read too but if you give him the choice between reading and beating something or someone up with a pipe, he's gonna choose the latter.

(I'm a bit amused about how Shanks might react when there are two kids in Makino's bar because she's probably watching the kids and Luffy drags Grumpy everywhere. And if we go with the idea that Shanks knows Dragon, the kid's quiet way of handling things would be very familiar, but surely that's just a coincidence.)

The events of Grey Terminal are probably going to affect all of the boys differently, setting them off on their own trajectories towards becoming pirates, a revolutionary and, well, a marine. A lot of pirates are rough and cruel after all and will hurt those who are defenseless. Grumpy wants to help and there are just not a lot of ways of doing it.

I don't think Grumpy will tell anyone about what he wants to do, especially not Grandpa Garp because he'd just become more intense, maybe forcing him to train even harder. And they also all have different things to worry about: the aftermath of Grey Terminal as well as the birth of Mini Mingo not long after mean that there's just not any time for Grumpy to bring up what he thinks he's going to do. When asked, he probably just says he's thinking about becoming a doctor.

When Luffy is about to sail off, I think Grumpy will set out as well and he'll tell Luffy where he's going (a Marine base, to enlist). And just like with Koby, Luffy instantly accepts it. That's his little brother after all, he knows what he's doing! And he'd probably insist on taking Grumpy with him, just for a bit, but no, thank you, Grumpy isn't going to sail on a pirate's ship ;3 He's going to take commercial vessels, do it properly.

(And then when Grumpy makes his way to the base he wanted to enlist in he finds it completely demolished by Luffy. Great. Okay, then let's head to Logue Town, Smoker is rather well known here as well. And then, well... Again. In the middle of the meeting with Smoker to enlist, Luffy happens to Logue Town and Tashigi bumps into something, spilling coffee over his enlistment form. What was his name again? Can't read it... Oh well, make sure No Brows catches the first ship heading towards HQ tomorrow! Says the man who has no brows either. I think. Does Smoker have eyebrows?? *lol*)

I think Dragon will be the one the most worried about Grumpy's choice to enlist. He did the same thing, he walked the same path and it is soul crushing. But Grumpy has to make those choices himself, they can't tell him no and allow the other kids to follow their (very dangerous) dreams. It is a big risk, considering that there will be people in HQ who will look at the boy and go "huh, I swear I've seen this face before" but Garp's in HQ as well and Crocodile is technically an employee of the WG as well. It'll be fine.

It's far from fine, Marineford wrecks all of them.

(Of course, if anyone has any ideas let me know, this verse isn't particularly fleshed out, I'm just listing various ideas and we'll see what sticks around *lol*)

Treasure Hunt: Who Owns the Phone?

After my post about the broken SIM card, @lostanxiousfool suggested that the breaking of the SIM card signaled the end of Sei's codependency on Fujisawa as the phone was actually Fujisawa's.

Was the phone Fujisawa's? That would definitely be a more optimistic take (although the two takes are not mutually exclusive).

You know my brain isn't just letting it go. Let the treasure hunt begin.

Clue #1: Japanese law

I'm no expert in Japanese phone laws so this next bit is based purely on my internet based research. No way that could be wrong, right? Some countries have pretty strict rules about phone ownership and registration. Japan does require IDs to buy/register a phone. However, it does look like a single person could own more than one phone. What does that mean? It's possible the phone is Fujisawa's.

Clue #2: Fujisawa/Sei's Dynamic

Fujisawa definitely pays for the condo.

"Something like that" is because really Sei is nowhere in that apartment. He lives there, but everything in it pretty much matches Fujisawa's choices and design aesthetic. We also know that Sei's clothes came from Fujisawa. It's not out of the question that Fujisawa would have bought Sei his phone.

However, Sei DOES have his own job which means he has his own money. He CAN buy his own phone. He feels like "a parasite" which could go several ways. It could mean Fujisawa pays for everything OR it could mean Sei would try to pay for as his own belongings to assuage his guilt at not being able to help much with the rent.

Clue #3: The Phone Case

The phone case is The Starry Night by Van Gogh. It carries a lot of meaning. None of that meaning would apply to Fujisawa. It is 100% related to Sei as a character. Also, this phone case does not match Fujisawa's aesthetic at all. It's the ONE thing in their condo that actually seems like it belongs to Sei.

Clue #4: Dialogue & Symbols

I've said it before. I'll say it again. The symbols are everything to me in this show. Feel free to disagree. Phones carry meaning in this show, and it already told us that all of our secrets are on them.

Does this preclude the phone from being owned by Fujisawa? No. Absolutely not. But it does imply that phones are personal.

Clue #5: The E-mail Address

Subtitles always have a chance of being wrong; however, the subtitles indicate that the e-mail is indeed Sei's. The kanji also match what was later shown in the company e-mail/directory for Sei.

We know Fujisawa didn't read the e-mails until after he answered the phone. I 100% believe that if he had control over that e-mail address, he would've been reading them all along. Him reading it now is no different than Kaori reading Hagiwara's emails, and we don't doubt that Hagiwara owned his own phone.

So why does it say Kazuaki? Quite likely because Sei was crushing on Fujisawa. We're on Tumblr people. Even if you don't have one, you've seen 100s of usernames that are based on that person's blorbo(s).

If the e-mail is in Sei's name, why didn't they realize it was each other? There's a couple of possible reasons. Hagiwara is a very common surname in Tokyo, and Kazuaki is a common given name. It wouldn't be unusual for there to be more than one of them in Tokyo. Sei's name is definitely more uncommon though.

These are NOT their company e-mails. That was confirmed during the treasure hunt. When Hagiwara gets the e-mail about his new ID card, it comes to his company e-mail. It comes from Sei, but the e-mail address says S.Nakarai@isakado.co.jp.

As Hagiwara always refers to Sei as "Nakarai-san", it makes me wonder how often he encounters Sei's given/lower name at work. He definitely knows it. The kanji says it, and it matches the name on the personal e-mail. However, he doesn't use Sei's given name. It's probable he wouldn't connect the stranger's e-mail to the man at work. The world is large.

As a fun side fact that turned up during this treasure hunt. When Sei invites Hagiwara to call him, he uses the personal e-mail.

However, when Hagiwara wanted to call him after Kaori took his phone, Hagiwara looks Sei's number up using the company directory.

It means Hagiwara had access to Sei's phone number this whole time. He still didn't call Sei until Sei invited him to do so. I know that's common courtesy, but I still found it interesting.

Clue #6: Sei DOES break the SIM card, and he gets a new phone.

We end episode 6 with Sei in the condo alone. He has a new phone that he's using to listen to the rain 😭.

The phone looks black on the edge, but we can't really see the case. This could mean he broke out of the asylum and is now free. It could mean he's in a dark place. Hard to tell. Hagiwara's case has always been plain and black. I will assume that Sei did buy this one himself.

So DID the original phone belong to Fujisawa?

There's no way to know based on the evidence we have currently. There's layers upon layers of nuance and multiple interpretations of almost everything. Like many things in this show, you'll have to decide for yourself. I know that frustrates some people. It's what makes this show beautiful to me.

If Sasha had left Hawk and Moth with Thunderclan or Shadowclan do you think Tigerstar would have been able to sink his claws that deeply into Hawk?

In ShadowClan, perhaps. Blackstar starts doing his damnest to stamp support for Tigerstar and his ideas out, but Ratscar is a clever cat. A clever, charming one. I can see him easily leveraging his charm to earn Hawkfrost as an apprentice, or the other Thistle Law supporters coalescing around their "young heir."

There would be less chance of Tigerstar getting his claws deep into his boy than RiverClan, which actively has NO reckoning and is deeply politically divided.

Meanwhile, it would be extremely unlikely in ThunderClan. ThunderClan as a whole HATES Tigerstar. Being part of his legacy is NOT something Hawkfrost would have been raised with-- and I can honestly see Sasha, if she realized ThunderClan was a good place to go, ALSO developing a pretty significant bond with Goldenflower.

...Thinking about it, it really would have been the Good Ending for Sasha here. Goldenflower would have learned about everything and felt a deep need to protect Sasha. Tigerclaw took EVERYTHING from her, and she immediately moved to reject him, but he still managed to convince her daughter to leave her side. TOOK Tawnypaw from her, and KILLED their oldest son Swiftpaw.

Learning that Tigerclaw went on to use Sasha would make Golfy sick. She doesn't have to think through it logically to know, deep in her gut, that what Tigerclaw liked about Sasha was that he could control this one. That Sasha was her replacement, to birth him kits he could own. Stealing her own child wasn't enough-- he wanted ones he could instill loyalty in from the very beginning.

There's a precious memory in her mind, of when their daughter Lynxkit caught greencough. Everyone knew she wasn't going to survive. Tigerclaw took his little kit, so small he could cradle her in his paws, and he hummed her to sleep for the last time. EVERY moon, she learns something that cracks that memory a little deeper, a little further, and one day she feels that she will loose one of the most meaningful images she has of her lost child.

How can she reconcile that image, to the trembling, half-starved woman who stands before her? This thin-boned rogue, who believes she is selfish and stupid for the egregious sin of losing a child while desperately trying to raise them alone?

Hawkkit and Mothkit would have had a very different upbringing. I also don't know if Sasha would have vanished back into the wilderness. World hard and cold. Golfy soft and warm.

Rook falls for Vil at first sight, enraptured by that unique beauty of theirs. He finds Vil absolutely mesmerizing, and no matter how much time they’ve spent together, the other never ceases to surprise the hunter.

This man is absolutely smitten I tell you.

Vil’s gender has never been a topic to discuss; when Vil said she would do everything in her power to be the best queen Pomefiore had ever had Rook just went with it. His “Roi de Poison” enjoyed being la reine from time to time? No problem at all.

Speaking of the Pomefiore house warden, he’s in pretty bad too. Vil trusts Rook immensely, he knows the other would catch him were he to fall (which is proved right after his overblot).

After Vil’s breakdown at the VDC their relationship strains a bit though. Deep down Vil knows they can’t nor they should attempt to control what the hunter likes; after all, it was the other’s passion for life and his unbendable honesty that captivated them in the first place. However, they still feel slightly betrayed for their actions; after all, he saw the effort and strain Vil went through for the competition.

Rook, on his part, is also hurt. He knows what the other went through while preparing for the VDC but at the end of the day, he had to vote for Neige; not doing so would go against his morals, against everything the hunter was; and he knew his queen knew that. He also knew that deep down the other would have been even more upset if Rook had voted for them because they would have seen it as a pity vote; because his beloved knew that the hunter would follow his heart whenever he went, and sometimes that meant doing things they didn’t agree on.

They get better after a while of longing glances and words hanging in the air, and after making up they’re stronger than ever.

Idia’s overblot only helps to strengthen their bond. Rook’s desperate attempts to help his “Roi du Poison” shoot an arrow through Vil’s heart; causing him to kiss fervently the other when they’re finally alone from privy eyes, leaving purple all over the hunter’s body.

Their relationship dynamic can be a bit odd or unsettling for people who aren’t used to it.

Rook absolutely loves chasing his queen, and Vil is always up for a game of cat and mouse, enjoying the hunter’s attempts at catching her and rewarding him when he finally does. It’s also safe to say that the Pomefiore’s house warden also enjoys seeing her lover “hunt down” other students, specially when she knows they’ve been causing trouble.

In return, Rook lets Vil test her new poisons on him (always with the antidote nearby) as he knows she would never harm him. He enjoys the new sensations the poisons bring and the feeling of exquisite ecstasy that fills him when his queen feeds him the antidote, always followed by a spa session to relive his body from the stress it has gone through.

Vil keeps all the letters and poems their lover has written for them, as well as the flowers he used to bring them (when they started dating Rook switched from bouquets to plant seeds or cuttings so his lover could keep the plants on their garden). In fact, half of the books on Vil’s room have their pages filled with dried flowers they have put there so they don’t go bad.

In some occasions Vil has used those dried flowers on potions, crushing them and turning them into fine powder if they have useful properties.

He never lets Rook use them though, because he knows the other would use them in one of the Science club’s experiments and blow up the laboratory for the nth time (something they’ve argued over multiple times, the other explaining that there is no joy without a bit of danger while Vil tries not to get wrinkles on his face from frowning).

Hello! I have a question: Would it be okay for me to describe myself as questioning intersex if I suspect I may have an intersex condition but haven't been able to see anyone about it?

I was assigned female at birth, but I've experienced a lot of anomalies since I began puberty, such as very inconsistent periods (around 2-3 a year, which are always very short), proper visible hair above my lips (along with beard hair, but it's a lot thinner and much harder to notice), and external body changes such as widening hips never occurred. A lot of "female" clothes don't fit correctly, and I've always had much better luck with anything from the men's department. I can't wear a dress without constantly getting misgendered, and misgendering is something I've dealt with all my life honestly (much worse when I was still in school, but I still encounter it).

I've never known what could cause it, although I'm aware I have some medical history when I was an infant (although I don't really know what for). This is something I've wanted to find out more about, but my (cishet male) doctor has never taken me seriously, dismissing all my concerns. I'm hopefully moving GPs soon, but the waiting list there is long and I don't know when I'll see someone considering it's not urgent. So, is it okay for me to describe myself as questioning intersex and interact with the community in the meanwhile?

This is just my personal opinion--other intersex people might disagree and are allowed to disagree.

I personally think it's okay for people who are questioning being intersex to say that they're questioning intersex/suspecting being intersex /on the intersex diagnosis journey etc etc etc. However, I do think that people who are questioning intersex should be sure that they are being considerate in intersex community spaces, being honest and not misrepresenting themself, and being careful not to talk over people or overstep boundaries.

I think it's really important to there to be places that people who are questioning intersex to find accurate information, and to get support on navigating a very complicated and biased medical system. And in truth, there is just so few information and resources out there that if questioning intersex people want that type of advice, information, and support, of course they're going to come to intersex community spaces and look there! And I feel pretty strongly that part of intersex justice is figuring out ways to get medical power into the hands of intersex people--part of that comes from giving our communities the tools they need to discover that they might be intersex. So that's why I think it's important for there to be spaces welcoming of intersex people, and why I think it's okay for people to express that they're questioning.

That being said, I also understand why there are other intersex people who don't always want every space to be one that's completely open. I think it's important for questioning people not to speak over other intersex people, not to position themself as an authority in subjects that they're just starting to learn about, not overtake all conversations to be about questioning or the diagnosis process, and not overstep peoples specific boundaries in terms of joining specific groups, such as ones that are specifically for people who've survived IGM if they haven't experienced that. (all real examples of things i've seen.) In general, I think most intersex people will be really welcoming to questioning people as long as you're just honest about what you're experiences and show up as your authentic self, rather than trying to mislead people or represent something that isn't true about your experience.

So long story short, I think it's totally okay as long as you're considerate when interacting in intersex spaces! Feel free to check out more of the resources on this page for information to help you on your questioning process, and good luck!

Thinking about how Onyx and Sango's first scene together had Sango complaining that he had to tag along with her when Hamber told them both to accompany him to the castle back in HZ024.

Yet they are both pretty much constantly shown attached at the hip. Hanging out together, being together during and outside work, oddly being the most domestic in their group (they know each other's quirks and habits and call each other out on them), implied to get food together (not shown but still, Horizons has a theme of sharing food with those you care about and food as a means of connection). Basically, both of them staying together even when they don't really have to.

me, reading more of Humanity, a Phineas and Ferb dystopian AU recently: hmm, little redheaded boy who has endured Horrors, hiding from and fighting a corrupt government with help from a fierce(ly loyal) hybrid creature? sounds familiar....

AU Phineas and my OC Oliver from The SOS Chronicles! I think they would get along great. 💜 Oliver would 100% be down for helping Phineas escape an oppressive regime, even though he has 99 of his own problems.

But you still haven't told me how you got here?" "Through the vents! :D" "Cassie!" "No, I mean... children are illegal. How did you get here?" ".... you hear that Silas? We're criminals on two worlds now! :D" "That's not something to be excited about, Cassie! And what do you mean "children are illegal"?!"

I'm overall pleased with how these came out! Sideways people are a struggle for me, so having almost ALL of them be like that was, uh, a challenge. But I think for the most part they turned out well. I'm happy with all the expressions except Silvie's, which just confounded me, but Silvie's just a hard character to draw in general, so there's that. Also Silas' face isn't quite right but I couldn't figure out how to fix it (he's also too short shhh). On the plus side Oliver looks extremely empathetic and I LOVE Phineas' expression Idk how I did them so well. Also Cassie just looks tiny and adorable.

Also I can't believe I'm saying this about a persona 5 spinoff but p5t is actually... Surprisingly good? The character dynamics within the phantom thieves are much more fleshed out (which is something I always took issue with in the original game), the character screentime is a lot more balanced and mostly no flanderisation (aka yusuke gets to Do Things for once, makoto gets to Not Do Everything thank god, morgana is the most likeable he's ever been to me), the new characters are incredibly fun and executed very well especially for spinoff-only characters, the plot concepts are interesting, the sprites are very fun and expressive, like. idk I just didn't expect it to make up for some of my issues with the main game tbh!! a pleasant surprise for sure

Sorry if you‘ve been asked this before, but since we know you‘re fav lmk characters, I was wondering what you‘re favorite duos and trios were?

And/or however many characters you wanna group together. Just in general, the character dynamics you find neat!

(My guess is that MK and Mei are somewhere on the top of the list- if not THE top)

One of my favorite things about lmk (of which there are many lol), is that you could throw two darts, and whatever two characters the darts land on are bound to have an interesting dynamic.

One of my favorite episodes is the Sandy and Huntsman episode (2x08), Tang and Macaque also have an intriguing conflict in 3x08, and Pigsy and Chang'e (3x07) have such a heartfelt shared passion that you can't help but enjoy their on screen time together.

I'm someone who wants a sort of Ne Zha and Yellowtusk "we reluctantly work together" arc, where even though Yellowtusk may have helped nearly bring the world to it's destruction, he ultimately helped save it, and he also happens to know a thing or too about keeping the Jade Emperor's power contained. I think it'd really fit in with lmk's "past mistakes vs making the right choices now" theme—in all honesty Yellowtusk has already paid his time with an eternity spent in the scroll—and now he can truly help make a better world. I think it'd be a neat way to keep him involved in the story, give Ne Zha someone to bounce off of (they both view power as sacred and a huge responsibility, unlike Wukong for example who is much more flippant with power), and would give some juicy drama ("You would betray your brothers?") between Peng and Yellowtusk later down the line.

Though anon you're 100% right, MK and Mei are at the top of my favorite dynamic list lol (They're whole motivation is to protect each other out of 100% platonic love. Obsessed with them). I'm also really partial for the MK, Mei, and Sandy trio that pops up here and there (1x03, 1x04, 3x04, 3x06). Traffic light trio is a treat, and the sunburst duo has my heart forever and always (I love seeing the way MK and Wukong's relationship has developed over the course of the show, both for the better and worse). Pigsy and Tang are always a delight (thank you 1x04, 2x03, 2x04, 3x05, 4x04, and specifically the line "Sometimes it's that little bit of char that makes for a more flavorful meat! Even if it is a bit tangy."), they're definitely at the top of my list. Obviously I like shadowpeach, and shadowpeach + MK (ooooo the monkeys are such delicious/tragic foils oooo), and I think Mei and Wukong have a really interesting dynamic (Wukong seeing Ao Lie in Mei, Mei viewing Wukong as someone who has hurt MK). Wukong and Azure's dynamic is also super interesting (Azure with his unrequited crush and heartbreak), so is LBD and MK's (could talk forever about these two), however I'll cut this off here since I could probably go on for a long while about this specific topic.
