i've recently been doing a lot of research into intersex conditions ((to be better knowledgable and supportive of a good friend who is intersex)) and i heard about turner syndrome. and the more research i do, the more i think i might have it ((particularly Mosaic form TS))? i have many of the most common symptoms ((very short stature ((4'9 at 15)), small lower jaw, shield chest, very mild lymphadema, low hairline down the back of the neck, very irregular periods ((i have about 3 or 4 periods a year, ever since starting my period)), high/arched palate, lots of moles, and probably some smaller stuff i forgot abt)) would it be worth it to bring it up to my doctor and get tested? expecially if i don't want to receive feminizing hrt. i don't have any other health issues really, so would that just be stealing testing and/or resources from those that really need it?
Hi anon.
usual disclaimer that we can't give medical advice or diagnose.
It makes sense why you would be curious about turners/mosaic TS after looking into the symptoms and seeing that they seem to line up with some of your experiences. And I think that Turner's is one of the intersex variations that it can be important that if you're suspecting you might have it, to actually try to seek a diagnosis if possible.
This is because there are a lot of other health issues that are associated with Turners that can develop at any time in your life, including heart problems, kidney problems, osteoporosis, scoliosis, and sometimes diabetes. Even if you have Turner's, that wouldn't automatically thing that you would also have these other issues, but it would mean that you would be at higher risk and that you might want to undergo different types of monitoring throughout your life. I don't want to scare you unnecessarily because I know plenty of people with Turner's who don't have other health complications, but it is a significant enough associated risk that I think it can really be worth trying to find out that information about yourself if you have other reasons that you're suspecting Turner's.
You wouldn't be stealing testing or resources away from other people--there isn't a shortage of testing in that way. The main obstacles to getting testing and care for intersex people is more due to discrimination and uneducated doctors, rather than a resource shortage. In terms of getting forced on estrogen, you always have the right to deny treatment that you don't want, and to explore alternative options if there's a reason you need some type of hormones for your bone health.
Of course, it is always, always up to you whether you want to try to seek a diagnosis or not, and you'll be the expert on whether this feels like the right thing to do at this point in your life or not. I just wanted to provide some reassurance that you wouldn't be overstepping, and share some of the reasons why Turner's is an intersex variation where a formal diagnosis might be more important.
Please feel free to reach out again if you have any other questions or need any support--this blog is here for you!
#asks#questioning intersex#turner's syndrome#i hope this makes sense! i don't want to fearmonger or make it seem like you have to go do this urgently#but do want to share why TS in particular might be a variation where a diagnosis is beneficial

Idk if that's what you're asking for.
But like gynandromorphic birds always make me feel seen. Cause like in some species it is very visible.
And Idk if that makes sense. But I'm intersex questioning. I am not sure if I'm intersex and I feel seen by very visible traits in birds.
And I like reindeirs caue they are curious but also cautious.
And like yeah.
Maybe some inspiration.
Maybe not at all what you were asking for.
Hello Anon! I went with the gynandromorphic bird, I may do either a reindeer or a deer later on :) I wish you the absolute best on your questioning journey! 💛💜

"Gender presentation" is hard for me to understand no matter how much I read about it - and honestly I wish I could opt-out of the concept entirely. Unfortunately that doesn't seem possible. I try to avoid the topic yet it seems to be imposed upon me nonetheless.
Is gender presentation what other people think you look like or what you intend/based on what certain traits mean to you? Is it a mix of the two? Is it possible to have no gender presentation at all (not even androgynous, just none)? But is there such thing as no gender presentation when the concept is associated with intentional outward genderlessness? It feels like other people have just such a handle on what their gender presentation is, oftentimes much more than they do their gender itself, because from what I see it seems they understand what they're trying to invoke or what they personally feel expressing themselves a certain way. In the way I see people talking about it for themselves, it seems more like intent. Which is hard for me because I don't really have intent, even though I want to.
I often want to dress femininely, but I'm poor and don't have the resources, so I wear what I have, which is almost entirely what other people give me for free. I act how I naturally act so I don't get stressed. My hair is cut so that I can go as long as possible without having to pay for another haircut. If I can put together an outfit that actually looks nice, it often does invoke a certain gender expression, but I don't get picky about it because if it's nice then it's nice. Regardless of how others may perceive me. And even if gender presentation is a personal experience, I wouldn't say I have a feminine gender presentation because my intention is not to look feminine. It's to dress myself and get through the day with what I have and what I can do.
On the other side of the coin is what people determine my gender presentation to be by seeing me. Even though gender presentation seems to be mostly defined through self-identification, most of the queer spaces I've been in have people trying to decide it for me without asking me anything or just assuming like it's common sense, and this seems to be quite normalized and unquestioned. Combined with the fact that there are ideas of "feminine traits" "masculine traits" and sometimes "androgynous traits" when it comes to presentation anyways.
I'm hairier than the average girl and can't shave easily so I have to wear long pants to hide my legs and I have a visible unibrow, I have some more natural "masculine" facial features, I have physical problems associated with men, and often need to keep my hair short. My wardrobe is mostly neutral and isn't super fitted. Among other things. People assume my presentation is masculine or androgynous. Even if some people can look at me and think I'm a girl, they would never call me a feminine girl.
Is that my gender presentation? Am I masculine because I have to be? Am I androgynous because that's just how my body looks? In that case, why, then, would I consider it apart of my gender identity?
Am I masculine because that's what people say I am? Am I feminine because that's what people who I want to look like say they are? Am I androgynous because I'm stuck?
If I wanted to call myself feminine, do I have to hate how I look first?
I know the easy answer is "just say you're whatever you want" but that doesn't change how the idea of gender presentation makes me feel and how often I feel hurt because people think it's okay to assume what I'm going for, or that I look this way intentionally. And it often makes me feel like people's comfort at assuming I'm going for masculine is just a queer-approved way of calling me "not womanly enough."
(This is a post about personal experiences and how people treat me, it is not a critique of the concept of expressing your gender a certain way)

does anyone have any resources/information on labial adhesion or labial fusion and how, if at all, it relates to intersex variations?
I've been trying to research it myself but I'm not getting any helpful results.

Two of the conditions I'm looking into have being overweight or having a stockier frame as a symptom. I'm already kind of unsure about if I experience other relevant symptoms and realizing that kind of just makes me feel like I'm wrong already. Anorexia aside I've always been kind of small and now I'm thinking maybe my symptoms were caused from that instead
I've heard of ncah and pcos being frequently mistaken for each other but that's something I need to learn about more

the other day my manager walked up to me and said that he had been talking to his friend who is a nonbinary nurse, and they mentioned that i may be intersex! (my manager knows my general trans-ness and some life experiences, but not that i've been questioning being intersex) and it's just the MOST affirming thing, you have no idea. like yes!! i have been thinking about that for so long.
not only have i not told a lot of IRL people (hence this blog existing for my experiences) but the people i HAVE told just. do not seem to care or don't show any support so it's just nice to be affirmed by someone else for once man

hey so if sex is "immutable" does this mean we are going to stop the whole 'surgeries on intersex infants' thing, or is this more of a "we hate trans people for existing and don't understand basic biology" kinda vibe

LGBT in fighting is fucking dumb and I’m super tired of yall’s stupidity. The fascists who run the government do not care that you are “Not like the other queers”. The fascists do not care that you hates it when bisexual women are taking their straight boyfriends to pride. The fascists do not care that you are a gay person who hates trans people with a passion. The fascists do not care that you are a trans person who hates non-binary people with a passion. The fascists do not care that you are a queer person who bullies 12 year old kids on tik tok who use fox/foxself pronouns and identify as fox gender. Hating each other will not make the homophobes go away. I don’t care how many times you say “But these people in the community make everyone else in the community look bad.” Fascists think we are all the same they will not single any of us out just because some of us have the same opinions as the fascists/Alt right. They are not passing anti trans laws because some trans people are too loud and cringey they are doing it because they hate all trans people. They are not passing anti gay laws because some gay people are too loud and cringey they are doing it because they hate gay people. FASCISTS DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR OPINIONS THEY WILL KILL YOU REGARDLESS! FASCISTS DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR OPINION THEY WILL KILL YOU REGARDLESS! FASCISTS DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR OPINION THEY WILL KILL YOU REGARDLESS! Do you understand me?

watched conclave last night and then read the wikipedia entry for the book and now I'm wondering about the category ten shitstorm that a publicly intersex pope would cause
#bolo liveblogs#conclave spoilers#bc the movie kind of dodged the issue but the book apparently treats the discovery of benitez's intersex status#as inevitable it's just a question of whether it'll be pre- or post-mortem#and how it'd affect his papacy bc.#while I resent tumblr's overwhelming tendency to bring characters we like in line with our political views#(it feels like the easy way out/unsatisfying to me)#(like yes benitez is a liberal catholic but he is still *a catholic clergyman* let's be real)#benitez can't espouse that having a uterus disqualifies anyone from being a man etc. like categorically he can't do that#I don't think he has a ''you can be whatever you want to be'' view on gender or anything#but I think he's reckoned with sex and gender as social constructs in a more critical way than his peers have#and in a way he's certainly got higher personal stakes for.#but at the same time you knowwwwwww tradcaths would be heinous about it#''CLEARLY you only think women should have a bigger role in the church because---''#idk I have a disease that makes me imagine the squabbling cultural fallout of all hypothetical political situations in fiction

I am sorry to ask but my friend is intersex and they told me their symptoms: they have feminine curves,Tits,Female pubic hair pattern, feminine voice, lack of body hair and facial hair and looks quite feminine and no they apple but was assigned male at birth however she got diagnosed in a Spanish speaking country and they don’t know how to translate it or spell it in Spanish
If you can do you mind telling me what it probably could be?
Hi! I'm not entirely sure because I would need a bit more information, but I can give you a few options that it might be. Here's a guide that explains what these intersex variations are.
Partial Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome
Klinefelter's syndrome.
Ovotestes
Those are the ones that seem most likely to me, but it might be something completely different.
Sorry I couldn't be more help!

A little thingy: I, despite considering myself to be a binary trans man, don't bind and it's because I don't care about my physical gender expression and binding is uncomfortable as shit because my bobs get really sweaty and I fucking hate it, but I do kinda wanna know if you're someone whos expected to bind (ftm, ftnb, intersex, etc) but doesn't why you don't (if you're comfy with answering ofc).

dear cishet people or parents who like to make the argument that kids shouldn’t explore gender or sexuality because “those are adult decisions”
you don’t gain the knowledge of the universe on your 18th birthday. you’re not a completely different person than you were the day before. kids and teenagers are people. they’re not just bumbling with idiocy and ignorance through life waiting for the I’ve been on this earth for about 6,570 days! moment where according to you, “they’re allowed to make that decision for themselves.” you all sound like dictators for one, and it’s damn embarrassing for two

I've always felt not weird but like, singled out for having body hair. It's one of the things that is sort of pointing me towards questioning intersex. I have around the same amount as my (presumed perisex) brother. On my face there's still visible lip hair even though my mother's had be do more permanent treatment for that. Can't tell how visible it is on the rest of my face.
"I can't tell" is a reason of doubt for me. I can't tell if I have more than average - some days the body hair on the rest of me feels darker/more visible than it "should" but other times it feels like it doesn't. Not to TMI but there's this one definitively terminal hair on my chest that appeared one day and has stayed but the rest I can't tell
Using this mostly to get my thoughts out. Perpetuating shaving already kind of sucks but it makes it so much harder to figure out my own body in terms of comparing it to others I know.
