Writing Tag Meme!

The adorable @joey-wingster tagged me on this (and while I should be writing like crazy for uni here I am lmao this counts as writing, right?) so let’s get started!

1) How many works in progress to do you currently have in progress?

Fics, uhh... Six. Of which three are my main concern, the other three are just silly projects that I want to finish eventually. One of them is Yuuri’s birthday fic that I didn’t get around finishing last year and who knows if I’ll be able to finish this year lmao (I hope so???)

And I have other three WIPs for uni. rip

2) Do you/would you write fan fiction?

Yeah, buddy. Writing fanfiction is a really good exercise. Don’t let anyone make you feel bad about writing fanfic. 

3) Do you prefer paper books or ebooks?

Paper books all the way. 

4) When did you start writing?

Around 10? But I would only start taking it seriously when I was about 12. I only started writing��“well” around 16, but then I took a break from writing and I had to start it all over again. I’m a constant work in progress lmao.

5) Do you have someone you trust that you share your work with? 

@softboyyuuri and @nakanowardcat are the friends I share my writing the most, I guess, and I also bounce a lot of ideas with @red-heather on discord whenever we can! It helps... so much

6) Where is your favorite place to write?

At home, definitely. I can write in other places and sometimes I write a lot more in other environments but I feel the most comfortable at home. I alternate between Word and Google Docs because... I don’t know why. I just do. 

7) Favourite childhood book?

 The Hobbit!! I have many sweet memories from it <3

8) Writing for fun or writing for publication?

For fun, for now. 

9) Pen and paper or computer?

Both. I like having my outline in paper so I can see my progress (when I try to outline on the PC I often feel stuck because it’s hard to track my train of thought and consequentially have an idea of how much progress I’ve made) and make a mess out of it, but for the writing part I’ll get on the computer and do the hard work. 

10) Have you ever taken any writing classes? 

I’m currently taking Creative Writing with my friends and it’s been so fun to bounce ideas around and encourage each other with constructive criticism. I’m learning a lot, but there’s still a lot to be learned as well.

11) What inspires you to write?

You know... I don’t... like that question. I don’t know what that means. Where do I get my inspiration from? Anywhere. I just question something and there’s inspiration, what drives me to write the story is something completely mysterious tbh. But if we’re speaking of an end goal of sorts, I just want to make people have a good time. If they had fun while reading one of my works, then my job is done.

5 Victuuri Fics I Loved This Week

I’m fairly new to the fandom, but I love recommending fics so here I am! All of these fics are relatively old, but they’re all so so good! If you write Victuuri fanfiction and want someone (me) to review it DM me the link and I’ll leave you a FAT comment on Ao3!

Review: This is an amazing ATLA universe fic with an original storyline! The character development was so well done and I never felt bored reading it. I definitely recommend it for anyone who love ATLA, or just wants a nice AU with fluff, angst, and getting together.

Review: Okay this one is my absolute favorites of all of the skygemspeaks fics where Yuuri goes back to school and no one recognizes him. It’s so sweet to see outsider POV for Victuuri written so sweetly. This one gave me all the feels.

Summary: Yuuri and Viktor go on a date, but people keep mistaking Yuuri for a teenager, which then makes Viktor look like a… not so good person.

Review: The stereotype of Japanese/Asian people always look young but on steroids. This is HILARIOUS! Absolutely made me giggle while reading, especially with how Victor reacts. It’s super short and a really fun read!

Never Met Anyone I Could Laugh With by thehobbem

Summary: "If you could read all that so ravenously, wouldn't you also have opinions, thoughts, ideas circling ‘round your head that wouldn't let you be until you talked them out of your system?

Victor did. Victor had for years, swallowing it all down because there was no one to listen to it. And there she was, waltzing into his library and dangling the temptation of a like-minded companion in front of him every Friday, before whisking it away along with the book of the week. A literature companion, at least. He'd love a companion companion, but that wouldn't be Miss Katsuki, with his being very, very gay; but that was even harder to come by, so a friend to talk to would be more than enough at this point. Someone with similar opinions about books, and people, and the world as a whole. Someone to laugh with."

Review: This was a strange mix of light angst and awkward but endearing fluff and I LOVED it!! This was the librarian Victor AU we always needed! Also I love Yuuri as a dancer, I really think that it’s such a good AU role for him and he plays it off well here. 

 Just Hold On (We’re Going Home) by kiaronna

Summary: Where Yuuri remembers the banquet, Viktor forgets, and Yakov Feltsman has his own plans.

“I’ve been made aware of your recent break with Celestino Cialdini, and would like to offer you a trial period where you train under me, in St. Petersburg. There are only three conditions: you will board with another one of my students, you will take ballet with Madame Baranovskaya, and you will help me coach Yuri Plisetsky, who refuses to listen to my criticisms of his spins.” Yakov nods at this point, leans forwards and looks Yuuri in the eye. “I will charge no coaching fees.” With a deal like that, even if it means he has to face Viktor again, Yuuri has no choice but to agree.

 Review: SO MUCH ANGST! But also so much fluff! This feels like a very plausible scenario and characterizes Yuuri’s anxiety and Victor’s burnout really well. This one has scenes in it that still stay with me.

We’re so excited to have all of you as part of this year’s Anthology, To Rapture the Earth and the Seas!  Please note that while we post on various social media platforms with updates, we use email for all communication and our emails will have information not found in our social posting. If you didn’t receive an email from us, please let us know!

The next step for the project is submitting outlines. For the outlines, we look for everyone to have a clear idea of where their piece will go and for a clear link to the natural element for which you signed up. Each fic’s focus should be the relationship between Rey and Kylo/Ben, and it must be something that can be completed in the given time and word limits. Information about how to submit will be in your email inboxes, and please submit your outlines by April 7th through Google Docs. We’ll reply to you to let you know we’ve read your outline as soon as we can!

Ever since the Roll-out came out, I’ve been in love with the butterflies, like many fellow Reylos, and couldn’t wait for them to show up in the fics. My headcanon is that the butterflies are a symbol of the love between father and son, so tragically broken apart (by cruel writers). I love this little fic. It makes me happy. It gives me closure and hope.

I wanted to write about them falling in love gradually, facing who they really are and what happened in canon (I wrote this before TROS came out so some of my lines sound kinda funny now). Also, Leia and Ben have a chance to make things right here, something that will forever be missing in my heart.

This is my most successful fic. I loved the idea of a character being so sure of something and then be proven wrong. It’s basically two dumb virgins figuring it all out, connecting deeply in the process. And I could never have a fic where Rey is a passive onlooker in her own life. She knows what she wants and she’s going to get it.
