My interpretation of AM from I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream!

I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream is one of my favorite short stories. I loved the game and I still need to listen to the radio play, but just the pure MALICE that Harlan Ellison put into AM whether it be just the writing or his vocal performance, is chilling. The fact that he wrote it so quickly and it’s only 11 pages amazes me.

He tried to hold her hand, to give it a squeeze, but all he could manage was a twitch of his fingers. "I... I wish..." Wishes are for humans. He swallowed, tried again. "I... didn't want... this to be how..." He broke off in a convulsive fit of coughs, curling in on himself as pain surged with every wrack of his body. When it ended, he slumped against her, gasping for breath, spent beyond measure. "I'm... sorry..."

Mick (short for Michelangelo) does not have the best luck when it comes to dating. While his two closest friends represent the polar extremes (one has no problem with dating, the other couldn’t be more problematic if you tried), he is stuck in a No Man’s Land of romantic failure.

But then, as if by miracle, he meets the PERFECT woman. She’s kind. She’s smart. She’s interesting. She’s beautiful. She makes the flowers grow wherever she walks...

After his last stint of relationships, Mick’s nervous he might seriously wreck this one, too. I mean, who wouldn’t?

You’d be nervous too if you were dating God Herself...

Of course I’d have @/angelagiovanagiarratana play Snigglette again cuz she was just amazing in Nightmare Time 🥰

Let’s start with our main 3! (Smol updates to designs btw)

- Marjorie: Taken in after the death of her mother, she is Madame Rousseau’s errand girl. She is the youngest member of the circus at 21 years old. She admires Quasimodo greatly and is worried for his safety around her employer.

- Madame Rousseau: Owner and Ringmaster of Madame Rousseau’s Magnificent Miraculum! A skilled hypnotist with a sadistic streak as wide as the Seine. She loves to collect oddities and outcasts for her circus, her eyes firmly locked onto the kind bellringer.

- Quasimodo: A shy and kind man who is discovering new opportunities and ways to heal. After 30 years in the bell tower, he’s discovering there might be a life away from the stone sanctuary he’s always known.
