Nezha doesn’t need to “control himself” He doesn’t need to be a perfect neutral being.
He’s always strived to protect, guard and do the right thing. He meditates and spends years doing his duty.
The threat of his father's disappointment was always whether or not he could "control himself”?!?!
Whether he could look good (like in front of the underworld judges) and swallow his own desires in order to fulfil his duty?
His dad is giving I know this feels wrong and harsh but you need to do hard things for the greater good.
"Control yourself” means get it together this needs to happen (chaining Wukong).
I can’t imagine the effect those words would have on Nezha as he grew up.
(Parents don’t care about age they will put their principles and ideals on a three year old.)
Imagine child Nezha acting as children do and his father saying “control yourself”.
The shame of being a normal kid and then being called “undignified” by your father.
How much was Nezha denied in his self expression?
How often did he need to think about his image and how others would perceive him because his dad said it was more important than anything else?

gomez!master is by far the best one of nuwho and I will NOT hear otherwise. she feels so much like delgado!master in that her motivations are not exclusively world domination. even before her redemption arc in s10, she has a complex agenda of her own and sometimes that means her goals align with those of the doctor’s. i love seeing the master team up with companions it’s my absolute favorite thing. her dynamic with clara is absolutely fascinating and i find the “i want my friend back” motivation to be five million times more interesting than the “i want to Destroy You Forever” motivation or whatever it was that dhawan!master had going on
#don’t get me wrong i think dhawan did a fantastic job and his performance was excellent#the way he played the character lent him a lot of depth that the writing didn’t have#but the n*zi stuff really really puts me off.#simm was excellent too but he does wear me out#and like i said i get soooo tired of the I Want To Kill The Doctor For The Sake Of Killing The Doctor#some writers don’t get the difference between fun evil and real evil#the master should be fun evil#chibnall doesn’t get that and even rtd misses the mark with that in s3 imo#i hate to give moffat the dub here but . he did good with the master. i have to say#but we do owe most of it to michelle gomez#doctor who#gomez!master#delia.txt

#movies film cinema#zero day#ben coccio#I actually talked to the director on Facebook super nice guy and he told#me a lot about the filmmaking process and even helped me with tips on directing non-actors and new actors#I remember him telling me to always be supportive and tell your new actors they're doing a good job even if they aren't in the first take#cause you can instill confidence and still reshape and change their choices and mistakes later#Sometimes I'd message him for advice when I was running into problems on some of my early projects#he told me once ''did ya choose to collaborate with this actor cause you were lonely or you guys had passion and chemistry''#“collaborating is like a relationship” and he was so right#there's nothing worse than working with people you disdain cause there's no communication and no trust.#he told me how he wrote the first couple of drafts of Place Beyond the Pines but his take on the 3rd act wasn't clicking for the director#so he took the script and went and had another writer rewrite the 3rd act but he liked the process cause he learned a lot and still got pai#but I'd still like to see Ben Coccio's take on Place Beyond The Pines he says the 1st and 2nd act are mostly unchanged#Ryan Gosling's scenes are still mostly the same he said but he couldn't tell me too much cause of the NDA he signed#The bloopers of Zero Day are hilarious his tip he gave me about being supportive#“This is actually great but can we-” and Cal interrupts him “He says that no matter what if you're doing good or bad!” and everyone lols#I hope I can make it and ask him to collab with me on a script#He's such a nice dude compared to the harrowing film he made.#I wish there was BTS but he had only one tape to film on and this was made when digital camcorders were infants#I think he had only one 2 hour tape that's how low budget#The bloopers is just Cal or Andre secretly filming and Ben getting annoyed “Is it recording?” and Cal going “Nah..."#Cal is such a funny guy IRL I wanna see him act more cause he's so good. He was so great at playing a sadistic psychopath in this.#the final shooting is so harrowing and disturbing#I told Ben he srsly gut punched me/disturbed me and this is what made him really open up.

The statements “Larry Butz is much more interesting and important than fans give him credit for, especially at the end of AA1 as Phoenix and Miles’ childhood best friend & with his witness testimony saving Miles from a guilty verdict as well as at the end of AA3 where he is shown genuinely trying to improve himself as a person as Laurice Deauxnim” and “Larry Butz is hard for most people to stand because of his consistent weird moments in AA3 which, along with his constant failing-to-get-with-woman jokes throughout both games, can get annoying and borderline intolerable for some people” are not mutually exclusive.
I really am interested in Larry as a character but god it’s impossible for me to see him as anything other than comedic-relief-that-isn’t-comedic-nor-relieving, I really don’t feel bad when Phoenix is slightly rude towards him cuz I would act the same, if not worse
#this has been stirring around in my head for a bit and I finally saw a post that was annoying enough to motivate me to finally write this#I really want to like him and his bitchlessness but god and can’t stand his type of character#he’s like Michelangelo from TMNT 2007 but replace his already unfunny jokes with comments about wanting to get with April and failing#at least Mikey from TMNT 2012 has the excuse of being in a kid show that requires a character like him to exist + he gets better later#while I agree that he was flanderized — that doesn’t mean that I have to like his AA1 interpretation cuz ngl I find him annoying there too#it could just be a me thing but like I said I really do want to like him#it’s just difficult for me to reason away since I already don’t like his kind of character#to me it feels like the writers didn’t want us to like Larry — & if that’s the case they did a damn good job cuz I cannot stand him in-game#ace attorney#larry butz#I’m sorry for taking up your tag larry fans but this post is about him so I gotta tag him

rewatching bbc merlin really has me like buzzing in my mind with so many thoughts. Like I'm kinda watching it backwards atm going from S5 to S4, I think I will jump around 3, 2, and 1 but just,,,, there is so much especially in S5 that makes me !!!!!!!
Honestly, I feel like this fandom has to give the writers more credit. Like they did a damn good job, and to me, it's such a good tragedy. Especially how S5 plays out, it takes everything and just tears you down, and down, and down. It's perfect, perfect with flaws! But still perfect
#bbc merlin#merlin#yeah idk on that note about the writers - this fandom is way too harsh#like i know we all have ideas on how it should have gone#but i think we lose how it's still a story that they planned from the start to end like that#they did their job they set up from the beginning and it is good as a tragedy imo as someone who has studied tragedies#hot take but the characterisations are consistent - i mean like as consistent as they get for a 5 series show#they did better than most and i dont feel like any characters get like their previous characterisation assassinated#that includes Arthur and Morgana btw they clearly have arcs that work well and where Arthur's is a slower progression - Morgana's is like a#lit match - slow at first but when it gets going it's going and then gone - it's wonderful#i mean look at s5 it literally starts by talking about Arthur's bane aka his fatal flaw aka his hamartia#which is himself and i dont think it's as much as the overdone hubris but rather Arthur's love and trust for others - but that like in many#tragedies can be debated#okay something else that can be debated is the peripeteia - i think a good example of it is the Disir episode because that's when Arthur's#fate becomes sealed anything after that point is fruitless because the Triple Goddess has decided he must die because of his rejection of#the Old Religion - it's a reversal of fortune in a sense that Mordred is alive to play his part in Arthur's death - as Merlin puts it. You#could see it more as Merlin's peripeteia rather than Arthur's but still#if we wanna debate it more Arthur's peripeteia would probablyyyy be when Mordred stabs him because that's when his death becomes imminent#it's a reversal of fortune because he's dying from that point forward rather than a strong king he is a man dying#the anagnorisis is another point to make. You could say for Arthur his anagnorisis is all of the finale - like this constant realisation of#Merlin and his magic and realising all that he missed all that he didnt see and now it's too late because he's dying#I'd say Merlin's anagnorisis comes with the whole Mordred and Kara ordeal and how he realises his mistake and how it's gonna cause the#downfall of not just himself but Arthur too#then catharsis - see i think it's the only part where the tragedy falters because do we get catharsis from Arthur's death and Merlin's#immortality - where he's still at the lake centuries later?#i think in some ways yes and in other ways no because I don't think BBC Merlin is following an Aristotle's tragedy#i think catharsis comes more from Morgana's half of the tragedy - seeing her die - and i think further catharsis comes from knowing it's no#over forever that there will be a second chance for redemption for both Merlin and Arthur#but it is a more difficult one for sure#anyway point is that S5 specifically has a tragedy storyline that is very well done and we should credit that more tbh

saw the new alien movie! it was. um. well. there certainly was an alien in it

BUT HE WAS CERY MUCH CG AND BAD LOOKING#LIKE THEY DID NOT DO A GOOD JOB. ESP WITH THE MOUTH. WHAT WAS WRONG W HIS TEETH….#one thing i did like was the incredibly literal chekovs gun. someone in the writers room googled that immediately before writing that scene#the gun lasting on 1% ammo longer than the other 99% was so funny#what else is there to say about this movie#oh. oh. andy.#autistic robot trope. ok. alright. forgivable.#…….so like why was the only black person in the movie programmed to serve a white person. like. im not crazy right. that was fucking weird#right. im apparently the only one in my familu who noticed but. thats not. who allowed this. why did no one stop this.#uhhh overall. it was ok. dialogue sucked ass. there were like 7000 xenomorphs for some reason.

macaque is one of those things where like. he is super fucking strong right, but you compare him to SWK (who for the record he is able to hold his own against sometime) one of the strongest beings like EVER and then call macaque weak. like😐
Also the fact people see that he had bad things happen to him and then forget the fact he did any bad things whatsoever. UGHHHH
yeah!! macaque is powerful and good at fighting, he’s just in the wrong weight class for most of these threats lol. i think the writers walked the line well with him there, striking a good balance between “legitimately powerful and dangerous enemy” and “nowhere NEAR strong enough to actually beat wukong or mk in a fair fight”
and the woobification IS super annoying but unfortunately you learn to live with it 😔

Bit of a hot take here but I don't think Dana is a good significant other for Terry nor should be a permanent one.
AND I WISH THAT WASN'T THE CASE!!! I WANNA SEE THEY HYPE AROUND IT!!! BUT THE WRITING NEVER HELPS!!!
Near every time I pick up a Batman Beyond comic or rewatch an episode it always pins Dana against Terry and calls him out as a bad partner.
Now granted it makes sense! Terry is living a double-life and keeping it a secret from Dana and with such it does create problems in their relationship- I get it. Yet, when the writers make the decision to have Dana always mad at Terry for lying, to have Terry always be in the wrong in their relationship and for him to be the one to always repair it, it just doesn't sell to me.
Because when Terry took on the mantle of being Batman after the death of his father, he presented it to his family and friends as a demanding job he took on to help support his family. Losing his dad cost his family to be down a steady income and him having a criminal record already doesn't give much promises in finding a job to help support his family. Having this job is a literal life-saver for him, yet she doesn't seem to care.
Your gonna tell me that Terry didn't lay it out to Dana? That he didn't explain to her what the benefits he would be receiving from this job, that he is lucky to have gotten this opportunity despite his criminal background, yet he has to be on-call at all times despite it? That he didn't tell her he would do his best to prioritize their relationship and make time for her, yet that she has to understand that if he's needed he has to go, and that he has to be there for however long he is needed?
I've seen constantly Terry bending his back to make their relationship work, to making set dates with her and scrapping whatever ever free time he has to make it up to her, yet all I've seen in response of Dana is whining and indifference to his efforts in trying to keep her happy.
And I know there are moments when Dana is understanding, that she gives him leniency and lets him do him and waits for him at the end of the day- but it happens so little that I just can't get behind it.
It just frustrates to me that, with how far Terry goes in trying to maintain his relationships while still maintaining his duties as Batman, that same consideration he has for them is not returned back- or isn't often shown being returned back. He deserves happiness as much as anybody and to have support no matter how much info people know about whatever problem. Yet from what I've seen, Dana doesn't fit the bill.
#i don't doubt that Dana could be a good partner- I really don't#yet there's only so much I can take when rewatching episodes or reading comic storylines that have Dana mad at Terry for lying or whatever#LIKE HON HE'S DOING HIS BEST TO BE THERE FOR YOU- MAYBE MEET HIM THEIR HALFWAY???#DIDN'T HE LAY OUT WHAT THE REALITY IS GOING TO BE LIKE WHEN HE TOOK ON HIS “JOB”??? DID YOU STILL ACCEPT THAT????#i don't know it just gets exhausting over time#it would be way fun to see Dana do her best to work around his schedule and find ways herself for the both of them to be together#despite the time apart#it would be even more cooler to see her working her way to be a part of the 'group' and provide support to him while he's out being batman#like a future agent a or something#yet again I don't see it often so#and I don't see any writers any time soon writing Dana as someone who supports him without question despite being kept in the dark#dana tan#terry mcginnis#batman beyond#dc comics#dc#batman#dcau

So torn about season 3 of Netflix's Sex Education. On the one hand, really great nonbinary representation. On the other hand, really bad dog agility representation.

suffered through a rewatch of Power of Three and Dinosaurs on a Spaceship last night and I wanted to scream the entire time. I am nobody and have never run a 60-year-old television show. but. Chris Chibnall does not know how to write. he is bad at it. he is bad at it. who gave him control of the entirety of Doctor Who? why? he had Amy narrate the first and last scenes of Power of Three like she's in some kind of early-2000's romcom because he doesn't know how to write dialogue or how to show-not-tell. the last line of Power of Three sounds like a preteen who has no idea how to end her oneshot fanfic and I know this because I have been one and I would never have let 12-year-old me write a single episode of an actual show on tv. the Silurians are a crutch. the Doctor got sucked into a Wii game? Kate Lethbridge-Stewart has zero personality outside of the Brigadier. Brian is an empty, emotional-exposition robot. who let this man run the entire show for years, I want names and addresses-

#wta#wtabohn#wtabohn spoilers#kyle marquis is such a damn good writer#considering i knew Nothing about wta before playing this game i definitely felt overwhelmed at first#but it's a genuinely good intro to this part of the setting once you come to grips with it#like it absolutely has its issues with racism and the like because all wod modules do#but i enjoyed what kyle has done with it#will i be able to bring myself to do a terrible person route like i did with amicia in night road? i dunno#in night road i could justify it because the courier is a freelance agent and has no obligations beyond doing the job you're paid to do#i think it'd feel different in this game. you have more of a spiritual obligation as opposed to a political/financial one#i'd have to mess around with characters some more to really get a feel for it#plus i enjoyed playing amicia and pissing off everyone and getting them killed#i don't think i'd enjoy pissing off the pack because i love them they are my friends#but then i suppose that's the difference between vampires and werewolves#vampires are very rarely able to trust each other entirely and tend to be very solitary as a result#whereas werewolves are pack creatures by nature. they need a sense of community or it'd break them#so you feel more inclined to really connect with people as a werewolf in a way that a vampire might not#...someone pls give mr marquis the og!vtmb2 notes so he can make another cog game based on it#i'd trust him to hit all the right notes and maintain the campy humour and gruesome horror
