It's funny how her Witcher sleeps so much these days, Yennefer chuckled softly as she sat near him silently, watching him sleep. He was so deep asleep, that she couldn't even hear his heart.

And that's when an unpleasant, yet not unfamiliar, panic rose up to her throat. She tried to ignore it like all the other times, but it was persistent. She knew it was caused by the deep emotional trauma in their past, but she had to make sure. So she tentatively lifted a hand and gingerly placed it on the Witcher's cheek, and held her breath in trepidation. Then his soft, even breaths started to graze her hand, and so the tension in her heart gradually ceased as she allowed herself a soft sigh of relief. He is still alive.

The whole continent knows their bittersweet, tumultuous past, all thanks to their dear friend Dandelion. But unbeknownst to most, the incident at Rivia had left her emotionally scarred. Fear of facing the death of her loved ones yet again haunt her dreams. When things get too peaceful especially at night, dark memories plague her mind and sometimes she'd wonder if they are truly alive. Or were they still trapped in a bloody nightmare, still pawns in destiny's cruel game where they were fed hallucinations of a beautiful life? She hated being vulnerable, so she often kept the emotions bottled within herself, never expressing them to anyone. But the days of retirement had mellowed those effects, and she had come to find that being with family has really helped.

Geralt suddenly snorted in his sleep, interrupting her dreary thoughts.

"Mm...Yen..."

She didn't speak; she only lifted up her hand again and stroked his cheek, gratefully, reassuringly.

She appreciates him. His presence, his existence. His love. Perhaps they were brought together by destiny to heal together, and to learn from one another. No matter the case, she feels comforted whenever he is by her side. The wounds might never heal, but they will fade gradually with time.

Indeed, she thought, as she leaned toward his face, and kissed him gently, wholeheartedly.

As long as they are together, everything will be fine.

Just a few shots I took and considered for CDPR's Screenshot Contest previously. I did end up submitting a shot of one of these priests though. Since most people were submitting Geralts, Yennefers and Ciris, I wanted to take something different.
