Just saying, I’m super enjoying having the Dawnfather be portrayed in a different light (haha) he has always seemed so distant and far, the most capital G God of the pantheon, and here he is, so different from everything we’ve seen of him (with the exception of when he shows himself to Vex) this stark contrast is interesting and I’m also curious if during the arc of this miniseries, if we will see more the harshness of the sun, that we see of him so often in the current era
I need to rewatch that first episode to fully get my thoughts more in order but it’s fascinating. All of the characters are so deeply fascinating. And gotta love when Brennan gets to have a flying city fall. Good for him.

Reader who got turned into a child with platontic yandere strawhats.
My god this crew is already chaos, and that's with One (1) Baby on Board (possibly more depending on your babygirl headcanons). Ngl, not super heavy in the yandere category, but I tend to make yandere groups lighter since they balance each other out more than small teams and it's harder to 'upset' the balance with so many people. Individuals may be unhinged af to make up for a lack of control, but groups can quietly distract you while the shady shit happens elsewhere. That and it's a kid, so there's less opportunity to meaningfully upset the dynamics.
Luffy is, of course, thrilled cause child reader is so impressed and enthused with damn near everything on top of being clingy. Screams laughing every time he launches them to another crewmate. Loves just bundling up the kiddo to run around with if they happen to go to an island. Food runs are with kiddo in front to distract Sanji cause he's not going to let a kid go hungry regardless of gender, though he will still gladly punt Luffy for stealing.
Reading time with Robin! Reading time with Robin! Robin loves hanging out with child reader raptly listening to everything she reads. If Reader can't read yet, she will teach them despite knowing they'll turn back eventually. Just really likes the chill, soft hang out time and absolutely gives %100 of her attention to anything the kiddo brings. Sometimes adding small, neat fun facts to enrich the experience.
Sanji is very careful with baby in the kitchen but will fondly have them assist with small tasks like carrying over food items and things that won't break if dropped. Can and will walk them through fun recipes with them on his shoulders, taste testing along the way. If he doesn't think they're old enough for cutting, he'll gladly let them mix or mash potatoes. Has them lowkey on Luffy watch to give the captain sad, weepy eyes that "you can't wait for the surprise, luffy 🥺?" works like a charm.
Zoro is weirdly good with kids and will jokingly engage them in a workout. Lifting the baby barbells for like, five reps before exaggerating how bored he is of his weights and inviting kiddo to sit on them only to effortlessly keep going. Or like, sitting on his back with an extra bounce to make them laugh. Naptimes are spent tucked into his yukata (it's a yukata, right? Either than or kimono, I'm not sure of the difference, but you get what I mean). Very easily gets Reader to settle down. Traveling with Reader is fun cause he will actually listen to Reader's directions and only get's lost like... 1/3 less of the time.
Nami is slightly awkward around kids for a moment before she just starts emulating her late mother. Getting them to help pick and sort her fruit harvests or doing small tasks to make them feel useful like delivering messages to the crew. Is the first to tie them down if the weather threatens to turn foul just in case or sends them below to 'watch over' supplies that she knows damn well aren't going anywhere. Might even go over budgeting (child friendly version) with them. Has an incredible aversion to engaging in map making with them due do her past trauma but, if the condition persists, she will eventually have them help pick out ink and paper, perhaps even letting them draw with pencils on scrap paper. But nothing more than that.
Franky has a blast making small inventions for child reader to pilot around with hilariously over the top safety added on top. Like a helmet for a bike with an auto targeting system that activates if they cry. Will gladly carry them around on his shoulders while showing off the many neat tricks he put into the Sunny. Has them 'help' with projects, at first forgetting that they can't carry whole ass beams of wood before giving them buckets of nails and whatnot.
Ussop is literally in his element entertaining the kid with wild tall tales until it's time to eat. The first to lift reader into the air if anything remotely dangerous happens before running off to a safe distance. Probably gives them a little sling shot to 'assist' in fights while he praises them endlessly for incredible aim (even if they never get close). Probably the first to make a child carrier to fights so they can 'watch his back for him' despite being a long distance fighter.
Child Reader will be absolutely floored by Brook, undoubtedly. Just wide eyes watching him play in awe as he shows off. Probably letting them play with his hands and the many small bones, quietly informing them of their proper names. If they promise to be gentle, he even lets them touch his hair. If he's got a child-sized instrument, you can bet he's giving them lessons on how to play. If not, he probably talks them through music theory while demonstrating the notes and details. I imagine he plays piano with their hands under his to give the illusion of skill while he idly comments on how much better it is to play with someone else.
Chopper is really thrown to have someone as short as himself around but he's happy to have their help. It's kinda hard to do some things without opposable thumbs, alright? Of course, work never lasts, so he's off to play with them in due time, really livening up the ship as Reader compliments him endlessly about literally anything. And he gives them fun health advice on top of convincing them to eat whatever healthy food Sanji makes (because we all know it'll slap, but kids don't typically jump right into gross healthy food).
Jinbe has a bit of an awkward standoff at first, unsure if the reader will be frightened until they gleefully marvel over his fishman attributes right down to his skin color and webbed hands. The one to swim with them (or just hold them in the water if they've got a devil fruit) never letting them go for a second. Has them 'help' steer the ship on occasion, making them think it's effortless for a child when in reality he's guiding them through it entirely. Talks about the people in his life that he misses with them, glad to have a child marvel at the great but dearly departed. Legitimately tears up when they console him in that special, innocent child-like way at the news that they'll never get to meet these people because their gone.
Now, the Thousand Sunny also has plenty of love to give in a much more... quiet way. Soothingly rocking child reader to sleep when they're struggling and no one sees it. Secretly guiding them to fun little cubbies and passages to spook the crew and captain. They may not be there physically, but the spirit is definitely guiding them every step of the way in the rare moments they're alone.
Of course, engaging in a fight while the reader is a vulnerable child is a terrible mistake. At first the crew will fight normally, shielding the reader and guiding them to less dangerous parts, but the minute it looks like they'll even get grazed a rubber limb is sending the perpetrator into the stratosphere. Assuming a flaming leg, swords, bullet, hands, water, staff, hoof, or (insert robo-tech here) doesn't do it first. Might even be a race as they keep the atmosphere light to make sure child Reader knows that they're still safe.
God forbid you make the baby cry.

REVIEWS OF THE WEEK!
Books I’ve read so far in 2022!
Friend me on Goodreads here to follow my more up to date reading journey for the year!
___
67. Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was such a beautiful and heartbreaking exploration of grief and the complex relationships that can sometimes exist between a mother and a daughter. I really appreciated, also, how Zauner talked about her identity and how confusing it could be when you're biracial--especially when faced with people who are adamant in their attempts to make you feel lesser than just because you don't fit what they see as a proper member of their culture. The weaving in of food into the memoir was lovely and perfect since food can be a wonderful connector. It made me both hungry and curious because I want to try everything Zauner told us about. I can't dive too much into the grief because when I think about the day that I have to grieve my mother, my heart stutters. I think seeing that their relationship was so complicated made it even more heartbreaking because their time together coming to terms with and loving their differences was so short. I super recommend this one! Such an incredible read...bring tissues.

68. Blood on the Tracks Vol. 6 by Shūzō Oshimi--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
If there’s something I’ve learned about this series, it’s that I need to stop thinking I know where it’s going. It’s such an uncomfortable and eerie series that I find myself recoiling from certain pages. The author is a genius when it comes to setting up incredibly disturbing imagery. Also, madness spreads, it seems.
___
69. Blood on the Tracks Vol. 7 by Shūzō Oshimi--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I’m not going to lie, I think this one made me the most uncomfortable of all the volumes in this series. Watching the MC cross over into a mindset that shows his slipping grip on reality was both sad and frustrating. Also, there’s a particularly disturbing image that made me pause and say, “nope nope nope”. Sigh. I believe the next volume is out for delivery today, so I’ll probably read it tonight.
___
70. Blood on the Tracks Vol. 8 by Shūzō Oshimi--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I'm interested to see how the next few volumes going, seeing as how completely into madness the poor MC has fallen because of his mother. It's interesting though because it's also making me think that what he is experiencing is something she experienced when she was younger and she is just passing that trauma off to him. Either way, this was a wild volume. The artwork definitely helped in bringing home that disturbing image of abuse and madness that has been building up since volume one.
___
71. A Good Day For Chardonnay by Darynda Jones--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Look, it might be pretty obvious to others, but I am not convinced that Sunshine is not Charlie. There are just so many clues here!!! The town, the descriptions, PEANUT (IF YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW). I need the next book in this series right now, please. I love the humour, the spice was SPICY, and the mysteries were fun and dangerous. I also love the character growth in some of these characters, and I'll always love the connection between Sunshine and her daughter--it's very Gilmore Girls. Can't wait until the Winter when book three comes out 😭
___
72. The Woods Are Always Watching by Stephanie Perkins--⭐️⭐️⭐️ I am a fan of this author's horror books because they're simple and fun to read or listen to. I think this was just an entertaining listening experience while working an overnight shift. It wasn't entirely memorable, but I can definitely see this one also being turned into a campy horror film. I think there definitely should have been a bit more of a conclusion to this story (add maybe one hundred more pages or so), and maybe a discussion of their huge argument before their worlds went to hell. I also think some of the things that happened were a bit impossible (how many things can a human body take before it bleeds out?) But honestly, there were some gross and creepy things about this that just screamed "made for TV horror film" and I couldn't help but enjoy this for what it was. Was it thought-provoking? No. Will this make my favourites of the year list? Also no, but if you're looking for a fun and creepy read to pass the time with, this wouldn't be a bad choice. I for one can't wait to see what other horrors this author writes for us!
___
Have you read any of these? Would you recommend them?
___
Happy reading!

Since I realized it's going to take me some time to get to the point of my fic to actually introduce my OC's, I'm just going to do that here now!
I'm also going to name some canon characters (e.g. Che'nya) and will explain their positions in the fic and how I think their personalities are.
Wondorsmore is the dorm founded on the curiosity of the Young Explorer. They are housed in a deformed, very colourful house with a gigantic garden and maze. Gem colour is blue.
Alicynthia Fantasmore (Alice): A light headed 2nd year student and the dorm leader of the dorm. She's a very kindhearted girl who loves tea time, baked sweets and croquet. Mostly everyone calls her Ali-chan, since her actual name is rather hard to pronounce for others. Nobody knows how she got the title 'dorm leader', because she daydreams a lot and gets distracted very easily. She has terrible orientation and will even get lost on an open field. Her mother handles all trading between the Rose Kingdom and the other lands, for which she respects her very deeply and hopes that she'll be able to handle such responsibilities one day.
Che'nya/Alchemi Alchemivichi Pinka (Cheshire Cat): The vice leader and one of Ali-chan's personal 'caretakers' and advisor. She's very aware of her responsibilities but necklaces them most of the time by napping or pranking other students, and loves to speak in riddles and confuse others. She has an immense fear of dogs, since one nearly bit her hand of when she was a child.
Marriposa Fafelyna (Caterpillar): Jokingly gets called the 'Second Vice of Wondorsmore'. Also Ali-chan's caretaker #2, but she's more of an motherly figure than Che'nya, who's more of an aunt. The 3rd year is kind of strict, but means it well, and has a lot of patience for others. She's hungry 24/7 and very tall. She also pupates up when she is faalls asleep. Smokes, but is not allowed to in any closed room or building, that's why she's mostly in the garden. Che'nya's roommate.
Arley Blanca (White Rabbit): A curious 1st year with a terrible sense of time. That's why she has a lot of clocks. Her father even runs a clock shop and got tought on how to build and repair clocks and watches. Her whole site of her shared room is full with clocks. Naturally, when ever it's a full hour, it's get very loud, which doesn't bother her, since she's used to it, even though she has very sensitive ears. She is allowed to do that, because she is alone in the four-person room.
Sunizwe is the dorm founded on the leadership of the Lion King. The members live in a big wood house, which has many plants and veins growing along it's sides, in the Savanna jungle. It has no roof unless it's raining and wild animals can't get near the dorm. Gem colour is topaz yellow.
Rainona Adolpha (Little Red Riding Hood): A 3nd year girl from the Land of Pyroxene as dorm leader in the middle of the Savanna, surrounded by beastmen. She's way mor robust than she looks. Never seen without her red hood/cape.
Zywie Najyba (Rafiki): Vice leader and 'doctor' of the dorm/school. Comes from a family of doctors or medical related stuff, they also work for the Royal Family. So, of course, she knows a lot about medicine and how things are within the family. Also has exsperience as a shaman. The 3rd year is concidered the 'wises' in the dorm
Eventyhav is the dorm founded by the dedication of the Little Mermaid. The dorm members live in an old shipwreck underwater. Gem colour is aqua blue.
Rielle af Atlantica (Arielle): A 2nd year dormleader and the youngest princess of the 7 princesses of the coral sea. Always full of question and likes sticking her noise into things that aren't her business. She's super impressed by human culture. But she often misunderstands the use or meaning of things. For example, for some time she used a fork as a hairbrush. Her voice is incredible lovely and beautiful.
Fabienne Guppy (Flounder): The vice of the dorm and best friend of Rielle. She's very shy, sweet and easily flustered. She's afraid of many things, sharks being the Nr. 1. Rielle always tries (and being successful every time) to convince her to go with her on her 'adventures'. Rielle also mainly calls her 'Fabie'. She is very good with the oboe (and saxophone, to some degree) and often plays for the dorm members.
Amyrlas is the dorm founded on the intelligence of the Prince of Sands. They are housed in a tiger head shaped, gold and marble cave near an oases. The gem colour is turquis.
Jaseema Dha-Hab (Jasmine): Dormleader and the older twin of the Dha-Hab twins. She's one of Kalima's cousins, the stricter and more hot-tempered one. The 2nd year student cares deeply for her sister, but doesn't show it well. Like Kalima, both are very rich, and, surprisingly, the only children in the family. She's very aware of their advantages, and that her parents most likely payed for her and her sister's positions. So she decided to use the money she has to help others. She donates very often and always helps her dorm mates. Which makes her very busy and not being able to spend time with her sister. Back at home, she's stuck with her overprotective parents who forbid her and her sister to go outside without a guard. So she's very happy and grateful for the freedom RSA provides her.
Aliye Dha-Hab (Aladdin): The vice dorm leader and younger twin. She's very carefree, like Kalima, eventhough she knows what could happen to her. Because of that, she leaves her sister in constant worry. And she's very aware of that. The reason she doesn't stop that or doesn't stop causing trouble is that, this, in her eyes, is the only way to get her sisters attention. Even back at home she causes trouble. She often goes outside without permission. When she's outside she disguises herself with poor clothes so she'll blend in easier. She often takes things like food or similar with her to give it to the poor, or sells it so she can give the money to others. Sometimes she even steals things to give them. This is her own way of donating, besides giving money; Being there for them. She has a small hideout in an abandoned building. She even has a small monkey, named Hamai, as a pet/companion.
Ebenholz is the dorm founded on the kindness of the Fairest of Them All. The mebers live in little cottages in the woods near a smal mine. Gem colour is red.
Neige LeBlanche: Dorm leader and the beauty of the school. She's very busy due to her being a model and actress, but always manages to spend time with her dwarf friends. Is like a second mother to them, but can be a bit overbearing sometimes.
The Dwarves: 7 dwarves who are constantly at Neige's side. Often get mistaken as kids and/or siblings. Both claims are false. Come from a dwarf clan that's known for their handywork and multiple mines. All are very good at mining and sorting out gems from real and fake. Surprisingly strong, can lift 5 times the weight they have. Dominic is the 'oldest sister', being the most mature. Hop and Gran often get into friendly arguments. Shelpy mostly sleeps, but loves some drama at school and knows everything about it. Sneek has to deal with a lot of allergies and holds a strong dislike towards spring. She and Hop (aswell as Domi) are often 'mental support' for the ever so shy Timmy. Toby is the air-head and 'youngest sister'. Since a young age, she had trouble remebering things and also had trouble with correct speech.
Theoroas is the dorm founded on the strength of the Godly Hero. They are housed in an ancient Greek themed building with an arena attached to it. Gem colour is copper.
Ziana Thora (Zeus): The 3rd year dormleader of the dorm. She's very stoic and serious, always wearing an angry expression. Very respected and feared, even known as 'The Queen of Royal Sword Academy'. He obtained the title 'dorm leader' as a fist year, right in the first week by challenging the former leader and winning by a land slide. He also has a younger sister (Hercules), but doesn't want to acknowlage her as that. So their relationship is rather complicated. She's also the daughter of the head of the company 'Olympus'.
Pacifica Aquarius (Poseidon): Cousin of Ziana (and Idia) and vice dorm leader. A very bubbly and lightheaded girl. She often drives her cousin insane because she can be very annoying and intrusive. Often just called 'Percy' or 'Paz'. She's very found of the merfolk. Like Idia (and Ziana, technically), Pacifica is a noble aswell; A noble of the Coral Sea. Besides making Ziana often mad, she's also the one who keeps his temper in check.
Verrepantou is the dorm founded on the hope of the Hardworking Princesse. It's only a small dorm, but the members are housed in a simple house, which turns into an impressive palace at night. Gem colour is purple.
Aimée Trein (Cinderella): The sweet and kind dorm leader. She didn't see the need to declare a vice, since it's a small dorm. She also has not the best sence of time, especilly when it's near 12, regardless of am or pm. Overworks herself very often does chores for others out of pure kindness. Also has a big thing for shoes and has multiple wardrobes just for that. Step-daughter to Mozus Trein and has two older step-sisters. Lost her father at a young age.

mais alguns headcanons das meninas da M.E
Lily Evans
People think of her as the mediator of the group, when in fact she has a rebellious spirit that can often land her in trouble
Lily would never hurt anyone intentionally, but a little civil disobedience is her shit
James was just one of many boys in their year with a crush on her
She was intelligent, gorgeous and witty with a sharp sense of humour
She didn't really like Quidditch, but she played muggle sports, primarily football
Lily had a music collection to rival Sirius's, and introduced him to most of his favourite bands
Her favourite musician was Elton John, and she hated James Bond movies
She was very good at drawing, and doodled all over the edges of her scrolls
Lily never hated James, but she found his pranks endlessly tiring, especially when they were younger and many of them targeted people James had never even met or had quarrel with
She wasn't the type to hold a grudge, and told people straight up when she was angry with them
Her first friend at Hogwarts was Remus, and she considered him her best friend
When Severus called her a mudblood she slapped him. Hard.
Lily never pictured herself settling down or having children until she fell in love with James
If it hadn't been for the war, she would have entered either teaching or government. Headmistress or Minister of Magic sounded like good jobs to her
Alice Fortescue
At first, Alice was very insecure about being sorted into Gryffindor
She had always seen herself best suited to Hufflepuff, and was worried she wouldn't fulfil certain expectations of someone in her house
It didn't take her long to settle in - she saved Sirius from a potentially catastrophic Quidditch accident only a few weeks in, and it was decided that the sorting hat had definitely made the right choice
Alice fell in love with Frank Longbottom the second she met him
At first it was a silly, childish, first crush type of love. But when they became firm friends as the years went on, Frank became her favourite person in the whole world
She fancied herself a watercolour painter - no one ever had the heart to tell her that she just wasn't that good at it
Alice's family had always been rich, and she took her friends on holiday almost every summer to their beach house
She was the kind of girl who was liked by everyone and yet still worried about whether or not she was good enough for other people
She asked Frank out in her fifth year, and had to literally sprint back to her dorm to hyperventilate when he said yes
Alice was so sweet that her friends felt they had to protect her, but she was quick and sharp and easily able to fend for herself
She was the initiator in her relationship with Frank - she asked him out first, she kissed him first - the only thing he beat her to was actually proposing, and she was planning to do it herself the next day anyway
Alice always wanted a big family. She doted on Neville and would've had at least three more kids if she'd had the chance
Even after the war, when she couldn't often recognise her own mother, she always knew when Neville was around, and she held Frank's hand every night before bed
Marlene McKinnon
When she was little, she somewhat resembled a street urchin. Her hair was huge, frizzy and wild, and she was always covered in dirt from playing in the garden
One of six children, she grew up loud and energetic, fighting for attention and conversation at dinner every night
Marlene had no volume regulation, and accidentally yelled directly into her friends' ears whenever she tried to speak
She was somewhat eclectic, and had wardrobes and drawers overflowing with random, uncoordinated clothing, and shelves piled with knickknacks she never let herself throw away
A talented Quidditch player, she was a beater alongside Sirius for almost her whole time at Hogwarts
She had a seemingly endless appetite, and kept snacks in a draw beside her bed for whenever she woke up hungry in the night
Marlene owned a horribly bedraggled cat. It was blind in one eye, its fur looked matted no matter how thoroughly it was brushed, and it liked to bite people. She loved it so much.
She loved to listen and dance to music, but was incredibly picky, and played the same five records on repeat
Never a stranger to evening detention, she had a habit of punching people who pissed her off. And she had a very strong right hook
Although she never learnt to drive, her dad taught her how to build and repair cars and motorbikes, and Sirius always let her ride on the back of his bike whenever she asked
Dorcas was her best friend in the world, and she told her every secret, even the ones she wasn't really supposed to share
Strongly opinionated and absolutely unapologetic, she was known to loudly debate random students on something trivial over lunch
Her teachers all found her somewhat exhausting, as she could never quite pay attention and had a tendency to chatter, but was naturally bright and achieved good grades without even really trying
She always had the attention of boys in her year, and knew exactly how to make a certain Sirius Black very jealous whenever she wanted to
When Severus called Lily a mudblood, Marlene also slapped him. She also kicked him in the balls for good measure.
Dorcas Meadowes
One of the most popular girls in her year, everyone liked Dorcas for one reason or another
She was funny and outspoken, and served for a while as the school's Quidditch commentator, before McGonagall fired her for continuously commenting on how the players' bums looked in their kit trousers. Many regarded her as the best commentator they ever had.
She didn't know that she was bisexual until she fell in love with Emmeline Vance when she was 17, although looking back she suspected she'd had a crush on Marlene in her first year without realizing
The first crush she remembered actually being aware of was when she found herself quite in love with Edgar Bones when she was twelve - although this was only brief, as she soon befriended his sister Amelia, and decided it would be weird to continue to fancy him
Dorcas's mother was everything to her, and she always thought of her as her biggest inspiration
Super athletic but absolutely cannot swim at all
She was the head of the duelling club for a while, as she was by far the strongest dueller of her friends, but quit just shy of a year later, as commitments easily bored her
Dorcas was mysteriously always able to score concert tickets no matter how high in demand they were, and was worshipped for this quality
She was very well dressed, and kept stacks of fashion magazines under her bed to keep up with trends
Much like Marlene, she often responded to outrage using violence. And although she wasn't as easily riled up as her best friend, her wrath was something to be feared
She once spent a month in detention for smashing her broom over a guy's head when he made sexist comments about a female player on the Ravenclaw Quidditch team
Dorcas had begun studying almost full time to become a Dragonologist by the time she graduated Hogwarts
She was eager to join the Order, however, and was one of the first of her friends to enrol
Her duelling skills proved incredibly useful, and she took down more deatheaters than any of her friends. She is regarded today as a war hero.

Okay since seeing the trailer for the new Zelda game, I’ve been really wanting to read some more really good BOTW fanfic. Do you have any suggestions where they have some length to them? Also fics where link and Zelda are raising a family??
Truth be told, I haven’t read many BotW fics, if any, but I’ll compile some here after some searching! There are quite a few here that seem interesting to me or had plenty of kudos.
Please check all of the tags and heed the warnings before starting a fic!
Super long fics (wc: 200k+)
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
T | Novelization | Slow Burn | wc: 473k | Complete
“But courage need not be remembered… for it is never forgotten.”Though struggling with both the loss of memory and the incredible weight of past failure, Link must find a way to recover what has been lost and bring hope back to the land of Hyrule. An epic fantasy-style novelization of Breath of the Wild.Complete, with afterword and deleted scenes!
Champions and Beasts
T | Series | 2 works | Slow Burn | Post-canon | wc: 311k | complete
Hyrule is a strange place, is it not? It has no history, only legends. It has no true heroes, only colossi who have wielded its fate in their hands. The Champions, and the Beasts; the wise, the strong, and the brave. And yet, we are always either recovering from war or preparing for it. How much longer can we endure, I wonder? How much longer can we step through this dance?
In a world this vast, being a hero isn’t always easy.
Champions and Beasts is a Breath of the Wild series that takes a darker and more political look at the world of Hyrule, both before and after the Calamity. Legends are long past, history is mostly lost, the wilds are dangerous but perhaps not as dangerous as the ambitions of its inhabitants; and with Calamity either just over the horizon or still a lingering nightmare, the Hyruleans must fight to attain peace.
This work is centered around Link and Zelda, and their evolving relationship both before and after the Calamity.
Currently there are only two Parts planned (From the Ground Up and The Ballad’s Beginning) but I am considering a third installment!
One Last Year
T | Post-canon | wc: 215k | Complete
Zelda vows to help Link remember the events that lead them to their hard-won victory. In doing so, they must delve together into a shared past and seek to untangle their feelings, their grief and their youthful frustrations to find the things they could control… and the things they couldn’t.
“I don’t know how to remember. Time passes, but nothing comes to my mind… Except you. You’re the key,” Link said, softly. “You have to be.”
A Breath of the Wild fic about Link, Zelda, and the memories that bind them.
Ironic Technology
Rating varies | Series | Contains both gen/romance | Canon/Post-canon | wc: 242k | Complete
Ironic Technology is a series where Link loses an arm after a tricky situation with two Guardians, luckily, he is able to receive a prosthesis made of Ancient Technology from his Sheikah allies. He continues on to complete all of the Shrines, meeting his friends from the four nations along the way, before he’s finally ready to take on Ganon with his tech upgrade. Moves into slice of life events with Link and Zelda living together working through their issues with each others support. Very little angst, mostly positive fluff and humour with Zelink throughout.
(A/N Originally I wasn’t going to have DLC2 content but it was a good ancient tech expansion, so expect that in ‘Trial and Error’ which will be rated ’M’ folks!)
The Destiny Collection
T | Series | Slow burn | Pre/Post-canon | wc: 225k | Complete
A collection for the little BotW universe I’ve created.

Zelda awakens her powers in time to defeat Ganon, but there are still major losses. With Central Hyrule in pieces, two champions dead, a king out of commission, and half a metropolitan city turned refugees, Zelda and Link struggle to come to grips with the aftermath of the Calamity. Though neither are prepared, they must nonetheless learn to navigate a turbulent political landscape while a snooping journalist, an overzealous artist, and a power-hungry nobleman’s machinations turn their already topsy-turvy world on its head. Though the Calamity has been defeated, recovery proves a battle all its own; and that’s not even considering the battle raging in both their hearts. BoTW ZeLink AU.

Top 5 YouTube Channels
Intro
Communication is a powerful and ever-changing force; especially with the rise of the Internet in recent decades. And no online service knows this better than YouTube. Hosting thousands of channels and millions of videos, no website has sucked away our free time quite like Big Red.
Today I would like to acknowledge 5 of the platform’s strongest creators, in my eyes. Whether it be for their intelligent content or the sheer fun they bring, to me, these guys are some of the best of the best; and proudly hold some of my greatest respect.
Quick disclaimers: This is my first writing like this, and as you know, opinions can change over time; so please lower your pitchforks and know that there are plenty of channels I love. Also, when writing this, I don’t have a particular order in mind (Except for #1). Whether you find your favorite on the bottom, top, or nowhere at all, know that these guys deserve a watch (if my digital mouth has any impact on your choices, that is).
Enough talk though. Onward, to appreciation!
#5: JT Music
Art is mankind’s most unique unifier, and no art brings people together quite like music. Whether it be country, funk, or rap in this pick’s case, you can look just about anywhere for a good time. And while rock star NateWantstoBattle is a close second in this regard, no musician really does it for me quite like JT.
While most would look at the genre “Video Game Rap” with an upturned nose, those that stick around won’t find anything quite like what Skull and Pat bring to the table. Their weekly tunes always bring a fire to my subscription feed, whether they’re putting me into the role of a badass superhero, or dragging me into the darkest abyss, I can just about always have a good time nodding my head to the beat.
Not only is their work consistently fun, but it’s also wide in diversity, and constant in quality. Hits like Follow Father, No Hero, and Hungry for Another One capture their source material perfectly within a musical context. Even their cameo appearances in tracks like DAGames’ We Want Out and Zack Boucher’s Ultimate Super Smash Bros. Rap steal the show with their wild energy. I always find myself smiling when I find their newest song; getting a small amount of enjoyment even in my less liked tracks.
Consistent fun and passion can be felt in the notes, and I can’t help but rock my skull out when JT Music starts playing.
#4: GameXplain
Games offer a wide variety no matter where you look. No matter if you’re looking for a deep insight into 30 second clips, latest updates on a title, or general thoughts on an event, you can always find something, or someone, explaining the perspective for you.
I’m a funny guy, aren’t I?
GameXplain has certainly explored over the years. From Cool Bits and Missing In Action in the past, to their famous modern Analyses and Discussions, Andre and friends have always hosted an approachable place with a variety of outlooks from its diverse crew, like Andre’s obsession with Stunt Race FX and Ash’s knowledge and love of Mega Man.
Even if you aren’t super into any of their interests, you’ll still find a laid-back but insightful pool of content. Their discussions are a personal favorite of mine, bringing fun, thoughtful ideas to events or ideas occurring in the gaming industry. I can’t help but get caught up in their hype, especially for Nintendo Directs or the annual E3 Show.
Even if I don’t quite understand the excitement that something is receiving, I can always go to these guys for a solid explanation and platform to join the hype train.
#3: Mithzan
It seems that no matter where you go, Minecraft can be found there. Games, books, plushies, animations, even an entire convention; those familiar blocks pervade some space of modern culture. While this space has hosted some incredible creations, simplicity also has its own beauty.
Mithzan uses this simplicity to great effect. With his buddies Ross, Pooki, Jerry and frequent guests, Max is always there to give me a laugh. And while Minecraft holds a variety of fun games like Would You Rather and Never Have I Ever, Mithzan also offers experiences outside of the blocks, like Uno and Dead by Daylight.
Along with the wide content, the experiences and humor are also varied, sometimes employing puns or old-fashioned smack talk, to name a few. Even with the different conversations and games, the fun and heart are always there. Whether he’s playing a wacky or horrifying game, Mithzan is approachable and honest with his style of play.
#2: Mother’s Basement
Appearances can be deceiving, no matter where you look. Assumed bullies are victims themselves, ‘loner’ people are simply introverted, and the most stubborn ones find themselves lost in an unexpected niche. All it takes is a little looking around, and you’ll find a new lesson or friend more often than not.
And what better place to look for insight than in a Mother’s Basement?
While not all people can see the artistry that anime brings to the table, Mother’s Basement brings its potential to the limelight. With weekly insights and discussions on things like how animation enhances an atmosphere or what makes a fight extraordinary in Animelee, the ideas and thought put into these discussions is top-notch.
Along with this, Geoff (the host)’s voice is great support, staying calm but strong, adding great emphasis on major points. He even provides touches of comedy and actual life advice into his videos. I find myself especially entertained with his analyses on My Hero Academia and Fullmetal Alchemist, but Geoff also covers topics like best romantic partners and essential shows to watch (and avoid), and pointing out his reasons why. Even if anime isn’t your style, there are some videos dotted in discussing topics like the nuances of binge-watching in “Is Binge Watching Bad for Us? (Netflix vs. Disney+)” and other media like movies (“Spider-Verse: The Ultimate Spider-Man Movie”) and video games (“Insomniac’s Spider-Man is Truly Superior”).
While it took some time to grow on me, I’m glad to have been welcomed into Mother’s Basement. With plenty of insight and care put into each video, Geoff is just about always a good choice for fun education on how artistic Japanese animation can be.
#1:Fawful’s Minion
The world is full of stories; they’re simply part of human nature. Whether it be fantasy, drama, or comedy, all of us have the potential to weave tales that inspire. And none have inspired me on YouTube quite like Fawful’s Minion.
This mean bean gaming machine has the mouth of a divine artist. His videos always bring a bright smile and incredible awe to me for just how much quality and care goes into each video. Fawful’s Top 10’s have never let me down with their fun, reasons, and pure passion that is tangible in every project.
Not only are the videos fun, but they’re also inspiring too. Fawful’s linguistics is beyond captivating, even partially motivating how I speak and write. Along with constantly being a good time, I’m always inspired to write or gain a storytelling voice whenever I watch an FM video.
And the touches of insight into his personal life give Fawful an air of relatability. Now, I realize I may make him sound like some sort of Shakespearian poet, but he also dispels this through his more colorful language, bringing in modern terms (and curses) and joyful, nearly maniacal at times, laughter and emotion into his speech, making himself grounded and relatable.
Most of all, Fawful’s storytelling skills were, and still are, a big reason why I write and tell my own stories. I want to enrapture others with my words like Fawful does, so he gets a big thanks and respect in my book. Balancing fun, humor, emotion, and creativity, Fawful’s Minion has made a goon out of me, running towards the goal of becoming a true storyteller.

Remember that Time I said I would Show You that mock trope page I made?
Here it is.
IT’S ALL FOR FUN! And I do include references to actual RP’s, so you might find yourself in here lol!
Might as well post it here too for mobile purposes.
Kallion:
A Saiyan time patroller from Planet Vegeta.
Action Survivor: Just barely survived Planet Vegeta’s destruction due to being marooned on another planet.
Survivors Guilt: Big time, though she tends to play it off, if not outright denying that she has it. Kallion has…issues about the circumstances of her survival.
Innocent Blue Eyes: Compared to the more common dark eyes of other Saiyans, emphasizing her gentle nature.
Fish Out Of Temporal Water: Was born several years before Planet Vegeta’s destruction, but is now living in Conton City nearly a century later. Though she’s happy now, her early days at the time patrol made for a difficult adjustment.
Brooding Boy, Gentle Girl: Gentle girl to Giblet’s Brooding Boy.
Involuntary Shapeshifting: As any Saiyan who still has their tail, one look at the full moon will have her turning into a Great Ape in no time.
My Species Doth Protest Too Much: Downplayed, and largely averted. Kallion points out that while she was always far more gentle than what was typically expected of Saiyans, and she lacked that ruthless killer instinct, she is still a battle-crazed idiot. On the other hand, she theorizes that her experiences weren’t all that unique to begin with. I.e: Gine and Tarble.
All Girls Want Bad Boys: Between Giblet and, yes, technically Trunks as well, Kallion seems to have a type. The real kicker is that she doesn’t escape this platonically either– Bardock is a hell of a father figure to have. She even lampshades this herself; “How come I only ever get attached to emotionally constipated men?”
Scars are Forever: A prominent one on her left cheek. It’s unknown exactly what the circumstances were, but she assumed she got it while a Great Ape. Countless others are scattered all over her body as well.
Intergenerational Friendship: With Bardock, her mentor. He also happened to be her father’s best friend.
Proud Warrior Race Guy: Saiyan!
Sole Survivor: Of her crew, who left her behind and returned to planet Vegeta on Frieza’s orders. Needless to say, she was lucky to be abandoned.
Tyke Bomb: Typical of most Saiyan children.
Golden Super Power Mode: Super Saiyan, naturally
Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: It’s in the job description.
Dating Catwoman: Her and Giblet.
Action Mom: In the future, having kids doesn’t slow her down at all.
Mama Bear: Becomes fiercely protective of her baby boy Keel, a trait which only continues to grow in the future.
All-Loving Hero: Willing to give most people and creatures alike the benefit of the doubt….save for Frieza, Mira, Cell, Towa…obvious villains aside. Also loves animals.
Bad Powers, Good People: Being a Saiyan, she has a natural unlimited potential for battle and power. Along with the added layer of being able to turn into a vicious giant ape. Yet, she’s kind and mellow.
She’s Got Legs: Muscular and flexible.
Nice Girl: In spite of being a full blooded Saiyan of the PTO age, she’s kind hearted and easy going. Kallion, in general, has a difficult time hurting people unless pushed. Granted, she can be surprisingly short tempered.
The Apprentice: To Chronoa, as well as Bardock, and eventually Shallot.
Archenemy: Considers hers to be Towa, Frieza, and Suuja.
Badass Adorable: 5ft of Saiyan rage.
Bare Your Midriff: Typically in her casual attire.
Berserk Button: Good hearted as she may be, Kallion is still a short tempered Saiyan. What gets her is usually picking at her insecurities, insulting Chronoa or Trunks, making even the slightest threat toward her children, or dragging innocent people into conflicts.
Big Eater: Saiyan!
Blood Knight: Again, Saiyan!
Came Back Strong: As with every Saiyan, coming back from the brink of death brings with it a hefty power-up known as a zenkai boost.
11th-Hour Ranger: Her job as an elite time patroller.
Glass Cannon
Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: Being all of 5ft, she’s this standing next to most of the men she knows. Special mention goes to Arugla, Taeta, Scaro, Giblet, Bardock, Trunks…
Lightning Bruiser: Speed is her greatest advantage due to her size.
Platonic Life-Partners: With Arugla, Taeta, Scaro, and debatably Trunks.
UST: With Trunks. There’s an obvious attraction, and she trusts him more than anyone.
Slap Slap Kiss: However, her and Giblet….
Opposites Attract: Her and Giblet again.
Slasher Smile: Often right before a fight.
Tranquil Fury: The first time she went Super Saiyan.
Token Good Teammate: Didn’t end well…kind of.
Took a Level in Badass: Gained a significant amount of confidence during her time in Conton City.
Wild Child: From age 6 to 12, after being marooned on a swampy planet by her old crew. When it became obvious that no one else was left to come get her, she fended for herself.
Blue is Heroic: Blue eyes, blue clothing, blue armor…
Defends Against Their Own Kind: Technically, whenever she’s fighting against a rogue saiyan in history.
Determinator: Can get to wonderfully self destructive levels.
Pregnant Badass: Hell, she’s confused as to why she’s apparently supposed to stop fighting after finding out she’s pregnant with Keel.
Socially Awkward Hero: Spending your formative years as a feral child will do that to a girl.
Idiot Hero: Socially awkward, romantically oblivious, no sense of self preservation? Yeah.
Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: So, your crew abandons you to die. Then THEY end up dying, you live and get stronger, and end of recruited by an elite time force where you get to work with the greatest heroes in history. Thanks, old crew!
Recruited From The Gutter: Found as a wild 12 year old girl living on a backwater planet with little intelligent life besides herself.
Undying Loyalty/I Owe You My Life: To Chronoa, Trunks, and the Time Patrol. Kallion is incredibly grateful for the second chance they gave her.
Wacky Parent, Serious Child: The wacky parent to the much more serious minded Keel.
Because You Were Nice To Me: What sparks Giblet’s attraction to her, along with the fact that she was never afraid of him. This trope is also the initial reason for her crush on Trunks.
Villainous Crush: Again, Giblet.
First Kiss: Giblet again!
Friend to All Children: Even before having her own, she had a soft spot for children and got along with them well.
Child From the Future: Keel, her equivalent of the Toki Toki City/XV1 Hero. Not that she initially knows.
Back-To-Back Badass: With Arugla, Taeta, and Trunks typically.
Desperately Craves Affection: Downplayed, but still there.
The Power of Friendship: Comes with the territory
Remember That You Trust Me
All Of The Other Reindeer
Motor Mouth: Usually when she’s nervous or meeting someone new.
Lady of War: It’s in the blood, after all.
Four-Temperament Ensemble: Sanguine
Beware the Nice Ones
Like A Daughter To Me: Bardock refers to her like this almost word for word.
Freudian Trio: The Id
Innocent Fanservice Girl: Has no qualms with people seeing her naked, and doesn’t understand why others would be offended by her being nude in her own home or bathroom.
Attack! Attack! Attack!
Wide-Eyed Idealist: To a point.
Too Hungry To Be Polite
Stupid Good: Hooooooo boy.
The Pollyanna
Paralyzing Fear of Sexuality: Due to growing up alone, her knowledge of sex and things related to it is slim to none. As a result, actually experiencing those feelings causes her to momentarily freeze and panic. She gets better.
Oblivious to Love: Related to the above. Romantic gestures tend to fly over her head unless it’s spelled out.
Insecure Love Interest: Which directly feeds into the above two examples.
Battle Aura: Yellow or purple.
Strong Family Resemblance: Her mother’s spitting image. In teen Keel’s timeline, she has a daughter of her own who looks just like her as well.
Stepford Smiler: Type 1: “The character seems to be happy, cheerful, is always smiling, and seems to live a perfect life - but inside they are melancholic, if not outright depressed.”
Sink-or-Swim Mentor: Bardock, who has no problem beating her into the dirt during their very first training session.
Verbal Tic: Has a habit of ending sentences with “yeah?” and “ya know?”, as well as starting with common sentence fillers like “well,” or “uh”. Ya know?
Obfuscating Stupidity: Kallion is a weird case. While she’s uneducated and misses innuendo, she can be very intuitive. There’s also her habit of dodging uncomfortable questions by acting like she doesn’t understand. To quote Mariko; “Sometimes I wonder if you play dumb, or…”
Did you think I can’t feel?: Rips into Giblet with this almost word for word after he still accuses her of using and manipulating him for the Time Patrol.
Dead Guy Junior: Not her, but her son is named for the only member of her crew who was kind to her– and died as a result.
Book Dumb: She is very much uneducated, due to her circumstances. Learning to read was never a priority until she was 12.
Red Oni, Blue Oni: The red to Android 22's blue, but the blue to Mariko's red.
(To be added on continually whenever I think of another or as I see fit! FOR FUN!)

superheroes need childcare benefits too
Characters/Pairing: Kobayashi Rindou, Tsukasa Eishi, Tsukasa Hien (OC)/EiRin
Type: Superhero!Family!AU, Freestyle
Word Count: 3071
A/N: Inspired by this post.
This drabble has been sitting in my draft pile for a couple of months already, I think? I was fooling around with the random super power generator and decided to write out something with the results I got, just for fun. Was also in the mood to write cute baby things...so there was that, too, lol.
The thing about being a superhero was that the benefits suck.
There were no such thing as paid leave or annual bonuses and the nature of the work was akin to voluntary military service to the country so it wasn’t exactly very high paying in the first place, either. In fact, it was something like an anonymous, part time obligation to society on top of juggling a ‘normal’ day job and whatever life issues and familial commitments the ‘normal’ population had to deal with…only maybe with a bit more explosions and dangerous, life-threatening events randomly thrown into the mix.
You get to meet all sorts of interesting people with interesting abilities too, and then, depending on their intentions and alignments, you try your hardest to incapacitate, or outright kill, each other. Fun times.
Rindou quite enjoyed it, actually. The thrill of living a secret double life. The excitement and unpredictability that came with every mission. And who would not enjoy being a superhero? Her partner was something amazing too, and they worked together seamlessly. Their abilities complemented each other extremely well, and after all the years of being paired together, their teamwork was one of the best in the country, for their rank and specialty type, even.
That was just as well, since they were partners in every meaning of the word. They had known each other from a young age and had only grown closer over the years, from teammates to best friends to lovers.
Recently, they had also become parents. And with parenthood, came responsibilities that both were suddenly acutely conscious of, towards the tiny young life that they had made together. Being reckless for the sake of having fun was no longer acceptable. They had to be more careful during assignments now, and for the moment at least, they had also agreed that both should not be going on call at the same time – one would remain at home on baby watch while the other was out performing their civic duty.
“Rindou.” Eishi’s calm, smooth voice spoke over the comm earpiece that she was wearing. “Are you heading home soon?”
“Mm,” she replied distractedly, concentrating on focusing her powers and directing them to work as she intended. Her abilities had always been a bit on the wild side and not very easy to control, and she constantly had to work on them so that they would not get the better of her.
It was a simple rescue mission this time. There was a serious collision between two freight vessels off the shores of Tokyo, just sitting on one of the major shipping routes. She had been activated by the agency because her powers were probably the most useful to deal with an incident of this scale involving huge mobile constructs. The crews of both vessels had already been evacuated and airlifted out of the scene so now it was her turn to flex her muscles and get down to business.
“Can you swing by the store for some milk and eggs on the way back? We ran out.”
“’Kay~” Slit gold eyes grew unnaturally bright as she concentrated, willing all her energy into intense mental focus. Visualizing the bright, glowing rope of power in her mind’s eye, she proceeded to grab firmly onto it and give it a mighty heave.
Just like that, the atmospheric pressure dropped, and the energy around her shifted.
Hovering midair over the vast ocean, a mere fifty feet above where the partially submerged cargo ships were rapidly taking in water and about to sink right in the middle of the high sea traffic zone, the redhead watched musingly as a couple hundred thousand tonnage of steel and freight creaked and groaned ominously as the absolute laws of physics were exerted on them…in an entirely unnatural way.
“Is there anything else that you want me to pick up, dear husband?” she asked cheerfully. She was in a good mood today, and for obvious reasons. The sun was shining overhead, the weather was great. All in all, it was a really nice day to be out and about, even if she had to help haul back to the bay two huge ass ships.
There was a pause, and then her significant other remarked. “You’re just really happy to be finally out of the house, aren’t you?”
Before Rindou could respond, a loud, unintelligible squawk transmitted through the earpiece, followed by what sounded like awkward, unsteady flapping. Both parents winced at the ringing, pitched cry.
“Is that En-chan? What’s he doin’? He sounds energetic.”
“Our son is sitting on my shoulder.” Was Eishi’s reply. “I think he’s screaming for you.”
She could not help but grin at the mental imagery of her somewhat ruffled mate having to stay at home wrestling with their quirky and unruly offspring. The baby was barely six months old but the rapid manifestation of his unique abilities meant that his parents never quite knew what to expect next when it came to him. Regardless, Rindou still thought that her son was the best thing since sliced bread. Eishi more or less rolled with the lofty opinion because he largely felt the same way ever since they handed him the squalling newborn straight out of the delivery suite.
“Geeze, he’s probably just hungry again. Feed him well, Tsukasa~!”
The semi-submerged vessels were no longer sinking. If anything, they were expelling water at an incredible, exponential rate, and starting to recover miraculously from their previous, badly listing conditions. Rindou kept a halfhearted eye on the ships, but her attention was caught more by the slight commotion coming from the other end of the line.
Eishi muttered. “He doesn’t want his bottle. I don’t think he’s even interested in milk right now.”
More indignant chirruping and belligerent rustling could be heard from the other end of the line. The older of the two also seemed to be having quite a time of it pacifying the younger one. “En, settle down. I know you hear her voice, but your mother’s not here.”
There was a querying, unhappy cry of what sounded like a young eaglet. By then, Rindou could not contain her curiosity any longer. Her son had been a normal human baby (a super cute, chubby cheeked one) when she had left the house, but apparently that was no longer the case. She would have been more worried as a mother if not for the fact that this peculiar occurrence happened too often for her to be alarmed anymore. In their household, this type of situation was only normal, when one’s offspring possessed the rare ability to randomly shapeshift.
“Eh? What did En-chan become this time? How come all the interesting things happen only when you’re home alone with him? That’s hardly fair at all!”
There was a brief pause as her husband struggled not to share his actual thoughts on the matter, which more or less amounted to how he would rather have preferred not to have anything interesting happen at all when he was left in charge of watching their only child. Because Hi’en was still very, very young and had no control whatsoever over his powers, the infant often randomly shifted into supernatural creatures that had only been heard of and read about in myths and legends. The first time it happened, the boy was only a couple of months old when he abruptly turned into a phoenix chick, and when the panicked parents found the young creature floundering about in their son’s cot, they had initially thought that someone had stolen their precious offspring only to replace it with this strange looking…scraggly, angry baby bird of unidentified origins…and that which could also random burst into fire.
The problem with their child being able to shapeshift into random mythical creatures was that when he was in those forms, feeding and caring for his needs became a unique challenge. Sometimes Hi’en would stay in one creature form for an hour at most before popping back to his sleepy human baby self, other times, he stuck with whatever form he was most comfortable with for days on end and that was when his parents abruptly realized that (mythical) animal husbandry had also became an important prerequisite when it came to parenthood. This time was no different.
Eishi observed his awkwardly flailing son, all wings, talons, feathers…paws, claws and tail. The wings on the back were still small and not yet fully developed, the feathers all fluffy brownish-bronze baby down and not even molting anytime soon. The body was that of a very young lion cub; soft russet gold fur still speckled with camouflaging spots and clumsy, tapering tail fat and stubby from infancy. The front limbs ended in raptorial, razor talons and the back limbs in feline paws and equally sharp pinprick claws. A fuzzy, aquiline face with beady golden eyes and a sharp hooked beak paid rapt attention to his male parent, who was squinting at the youngster just as discerningly.
Hi’en let loose a series of demanding chirrups and clumsily headbutted his father for attention. Eishi plucked the youngling who had insisted on climbing precariously onto his shoulder when he heard his mother’s voice earlier and cradled his cat-sized child against his chest, barely even flinching when the baby dug his tiny claws into his forearms for stability. The white-haired man balanced the cellphone between his ear and shoulder, distractedly replying Rindou even as he padded into the kitchen with the fussing cub in tow.
“I think he turned into a griffin this time.”
“…Huh. What do those eat?”
That was a very good question, and one which the young parents found themselves asking almost every other week these days.
In the background, the massive constructs that were the damaged shipping vessels were now floating lightly on the shimmering ocean surface, delicate as a pair of drifting feathers. Thanks to her abilities to manipulate gravity and air, sending the ships back to the shipyard for repair would be a breeze. Pun intended.
“Think the packet of raw chicken sitting in the freezer will work?” Rindou asked as she started to gather and shape the climate to obey her will. Her gaze turned upwards, watching the gigantic nimbuses roll in and dim the skies overhead. The barometric pressure quickly dropped further, and the ambient wind speed started to pick up. The previously calm, tranquil waters became more restless, choppy, though not turbulent enough to send the ships back down to the bottom of the ocean. Rindou exerted her will and steadily pushed.
The two vessels slowly started to move, the howling gale and reduced inertia enough to set them both limping in the direction of port. Rindou trailed her responsibilities closely, making sure that they would reach their destination with no unforeseen accidents along the way.
Back home, Eishi obligingly popped open the door of the freezer compartment and pulled out the cellophane wrapped tray of chicken. He presented it to Hi’en, who nudged at the Styrofoam curiously with his beak before recoiling from it with disdain.
“No?” he asked the little griffin. His son peered at him briefly with his slit gold eyes before deciding that his father’s shirt buttons were much more interesting. He started to peck at one of them, trying to pry it off.
“I’ll defrost and cut the meat into smaller strips to see if he wants it,” Eishi spoke into the phone, shutting the freezer door and setting the packet of chicken on the counter to thaw. “I think we should find that anthropology professor at the university again and seek his opinion, just in case.”
Rindou grimaced at the thought of meeting the suspicious, twitchy man once more. She was pretty sure that the man was starting to suspect that something weird was going on with the overly insistent couple who kept asking him overly specific questions regarding the diets and behavioral patterns of legendary creatures that should not exist.
“Alright, if you feel that’s gonna help.” An excellent idea struck her. “Maybe En-chan would want fresh seafood instead. I can rustle up a waterspout and bring some catch of the day home!”
“…Please don’t do that.” Eishi was quick to shoot down the idea before his mate could run wild with it. The last time she did something similar in a misguided attempt at domesticity while harboring delusions of a homemade dinner, it rained fish intermittently over the city for an entire day. “The agency frowns upon that sort of power misuse and we don’t have enough fridge space.”
Rindou grumbled. What use were her powers even if she couldn’t apply them for little things like that?
“Come home soon,” Eishi continued. Their child lifted his head from where he had been gnawing at his father’s shirt and chimed in with an accompanying series of inquisitive peeps and chirps. “We’re looking forward to your safe return.”
Despite her disgruntlement, Rindou’s cheeks warmed happily. “Then I shall, since you asked so nicely.”
When two beings with the recessive mutated genome that gave them unique abilities produce an offspring, it is virtually guaranteed that their progeny would inherit the same metamorphosed DNA sequence as well. However, just because that peculiar gene had been passed down from parents to child did not mean that the latter would end up with the same type of ultra-abilities that either parental units had. As such, having children when one possessed superpowers was very much like entering a lucky draw.
There is an implicit understanding that there will be a special prize, but what it is exactly or how useful it will be is something entirely up in the air until the child’s powers finally chooses to establish themselves.
Even before the birth of their son, Eishi and Rindou had already decided on his name out of two reasons.
The first was for bond. Both parents were distinct air types and spent so much of their time in the skies that they might as well have been born birds themselves. They had flown together, fought together, courted, loved. Their mutual joy, their steadfast devotion to each other… Hi’en was the precious culmination of all this happiness.
The second was for blessing. It was the parents’ sincerest wish for their firstborn that he would always be able to fly as far and as freely as he wanted to, just like a brave and lithe swallow, unfazed and unhindered by all the challenges that he would ever meet in life.
When Hi’en’s powers initially manifested in an unexpected way that turned him into a firebird, his parents wondered if they had perhaps named him a bit too aptly. Even though the kanji ‘Hi’ in his name translated to ‘flight,’ it also shared the same pronunciation for the kanji that denoted ‘fire.’
Regardless of the fact that their child’s abilities bore no similarities whatsoever with theirs, his parents remained endlessly delighted and fascinated with their strange little chick. All of his little milestones and progresses Eishi noted down meticulously and Rindou cheered for with pride and glee. Hi’en was developing physically and mentally faster than the average infant, though in all likelihood it was because he was switching forms so often. However, all that growing was exhausting for the young baby, and so he ate a lot, and then he slept a lot.
When Rindou returned that evening, it was to a quiet apartment with the lights dimmed. There was a flickering glow emanating from the living room, and when she exchanged her shoes for indoor ones at the genkan and went down the hallway, she discovered that the source of light was from the television, the volume muted so that only the images were playing across the screen. Eishi was sprawled out in the middle of the couch strewn all over with toys, his eyes closed, faintly, halfheartedly humming a lulling song. Curled against his chest was a little ball of fur and feathers, and the little thing must have tuckered himself out after running his father ragged all day, for he barely stirred even when his female parent approached and sank onto the adjacent cushions.
Eishi cracked opened one eye, sleepy lavender meeting quietly amused gold.
“…Okaeri,” he greeted his mate softly. He wasn’t exactly his usual neat, immaculate self. It appeared that even possessing the ability of accelerated thought process was no match to counter the sheer unpredictability of a small but determined infant. Eishi’s hair looked like he had run his hands through it several times that evening alone, his shirt was missing some buttons and partially untucked, and there were unidentifiable stains on his jeans and also on his collar. She thought that he looked manly and attractive all the same, exuding responsible daddy vibes, very irresistible.
“Tadaima,” she mouthed back. Her hand came up, fingers brushing over his crown, trying to help arrange the unrulier locks into some semblance of order. “Looks like you had a nice time with En-chan,” she drawled innocuously, trying not to grin at his visibly disheveled expression. She petted his hair affectionately, at the same time leaning in to brush her lips against his jaw. “You’ve worked hard today, papa~”
He silently tilted his head against hers, his arms already occupied cradling their child. Rindou’s gaze lowered onto where Hi’en was quietly sleeping. His fuzzy little face was barely visible, tucked under one downy front limb as he continued to doze, his little torso gently rising and falling with the cadence of his deep, steady breathing. Just looking at her son made her very happy, regardless of what form he chose to take. He was safe and protected, he was perfectly healthy, and he was growing up well. That was all that mattered.
“…Ah. I forgot the milk and eggs.”
Eishi’s eyes had closed again, and he leaned just a little more into her before she could move away.
“Let’s do that tomorrow… Stay.”
…So maybe she wasn’t the only one who felt a bit lonely now that they wouldn’t be able to take missions together, at least not in the immediate future.
She snuggled down beside him, this boy she loved first long before he gave her another to dote on and adore. Their family might be small and there were also times when it felt like they had no idea what they were doing, but to her, this was perfect.
“’Kay.”

Scrabble: Epilogue
Story Summary: Mary Margaret and David are two best friends who desperately want a baby. One night, over a game of Scrabble, she suggests they have one together.
Chapter Summary: Nearly 3 years in the future, David’s dream comes true.
Also on AO3
David’s eyes flickered open and he felt very hard. There was a sensation on his penis and he realized just what it was…Mary Margaret. A smile fell across his lips and he let out a tiny moan. He could see her head peeking out from under the covers, concentrated on her work. He gripped onto the pillow and felt her tiny kisses mixed in with the sucking. He didn’t want to reach the climax, not yet, he wanted to savor each and every moment. However, his body overrode his heart and he soon came, panting heavily.
“That’s certainly one way to wake up,” he mumbled.
Mary Margaret shrugged and cuddled up against his chest. “I woke up and was bored.”
“We have a newborn, how could you possibly be bored?”
“He’s out like a light.”
David looked down at her, taking in every feature. Her green eyes seemed to sparkle in the sunlight that came through the curtains. They matched the ring on her left hand, the very same ring his father had given to his mother. Her cheeks were flushed from her previous activity. Due to breast feeding, she was wearing a loose nightgown. There was evidence of the long nights in the bags under her eyes and her hair hadn’t been washed in a couple of days. It didn’t matter, though. She was beautiful, every inch of her.
Suddenly, he became aware of the bassinet just a few feet away from the bed. Reaching over, he peered down inside. A chubby newborn laid there, wailing and wiggling about. He reached inside, taking him into his arms and kissing his forehead.
“So much for sleep,” he muttered.
“Hey, he’s been asleep since 2 and it’s….” Mary Margaret trailed off and she glanced over at their alarm clock. “7.”
“Much better than…”
Before he could finish the sentence, there were light footsteps outside the door. It was slowly pushed open and all he saw were fluffy swan slippers. A moment later, his nearly 3 year old daughter was jumping on the bed and into her mother’s arms.
“Speak of the cute little devil,” Mary Margaret said, tickling her sides, causing Emma to giggle.
“Can I hold Nee?” She asked.
“Of course.”
It had been almost 3 years since Emma was born and so much had changed. Two months after her birth, they were able to move onto the farm and by the new year, David had quit his job as sheriff to be a stay-at-home dad/farmer. Mary Margaret returned to teaching by the spring and they were incredibly happy, marrying the following Christmas.
They were both there for it all: Emma’s first steps, first words. It was clear she was a wild child, inheriting her parents’ spirit and love for constantly being active. She was always on the move, only seeming to calm down when she was rocked and sung her favorite lullabies. She loved “helping” on the farm, which mostly consisted of her just playing with animals. They were happy, overjoyed.
Then about a month before her second birthday, Mary Margaret suggested that they try again. David had no objections and just 2 months later, they found themselves pregnant. Neal Robert Nolan was born 8 and a half months later, 2 weeks after his due date-quite the contrast from his big sister. Emma had been hesitant about becoming one at first, but now she adored Neal and was very protective of him.
Leopold and George had stayed out of their lives for the most part. David had a scary run in with George during Mary Margaret’s pregnancy with Neal, but for the most part, he kept his distance. Leopold knew of the wedding and both grandchildren, but he had no interest in being there for them. It hurt Mary Margaret in the beginning, to think that her father would want nothing to do with the beautiful babies she had brought into the world, but in the end chalked it up to his loss. After all, it wasn’t as if their kids lacked for family.
Regina was like the aunt that the kids would never have, Henry being incredibly close to both kids. Emma’s best friends were Alexandra, Ming, Gideon, Vivienne and Isaac-the latter two being Abigail and Jim’s twins. They were all pretty much like cousins, chasing each other around whenever they got the chance. It was good to know that Emma would have built-in friends for when she got older, it looked like Neal would too. Mal was close to giving birth to her and Regina’s first child together, though both had adopted Henry and Lily. Ashley and Thomas had also announced their own pregnancy, as had Belle and Kenneth. Their not-so little family seemed to get bigger by the moment.
After 15 minutes of cuddling, Neal began fussing in Emma’s arms, clearly hungry for some breakfast. As Mary Margaret fed her son, David lead Emma downstairs to make her some pancakes.
“I like when Mommy’s home,” Emma admitted after she had added their super-secret ingredient (nutmeg) to the mix.
“I do too,” he said with a wink.
She’d be home until after the new year, which both Mary Margaret and David were extremely grateful for. It meant that she could help out with the farm, which turned out to be extremely lucrative. They weren’t filthy rich by any means, it wasn’t like Mary Margaret’s childhood, but it also wasn’t like David’s before George came into the picture either. They were happy, they could comfortably provide for their children and that’s what mattered.
Mary Margaret eventually came downstairs by the time Emma was settled in her booster seat and David had set the table. She settled Neal down into his swing and walked closer to her husband, wrapping her arms around his waist.
“I love you, ya know that?”
“I love you too,” he said with a grin. “Emma and I were just talking about how much we love having you home.”
“It is good to get to spend time with my favorite people.” She let out a content sigh. “Did you ever see our lives turning out this way?”
“Nah. But I’m so glad they did.”
“Me too.”
The two kissed until Emma protested from the table, “Gross!” They pulled apart laughing, walking back over to enjoy breakfast with their family.
Over the years, David and Mary Margaret would go onto have four more children: two more girls and two more boys, having the big family that they always dreamed of. Even when the kids got older, they still had family game night once a week, where more often than not, Mary Margaret would select Scrabble. David would always remind the kids of the time that Mary Margaret actually forfeited a game, just so she could ask him to have a baby. She’d always roll her eyes and act annoyed, but deep down, they both knew the truth.
That night had been the start of everything. The start of their family, the start of falling in love.
Besides, Mary Margaret never lost another game…until Neal turned 15 and became just as competitive as his mother. That would just lead to David and Emma leaning back, watching them both play in amusement.

Lapland snow dream with a toddler
Last year during my road trip with Mia we spent a couple of weeks in Finland and somehow, in the middle of a forest (which is possible wherever in Finland ) I had a thought that I need to go back during the winter period. After a bit of a research I figured that February will be the best month. The only thing left was waiting (not the easiest part). I booked flights in an advance, which made it very reasonable price wise and it took me quite some time to find a perfect location. Totally by coincidence (life!) I found a beautiful wooden house in a forest, just in front of a lake. It’s built out of a wooden block, has a fireplace, comfortable big bed that will fit the three of us and (the best part) indoor sauna. The last thing is a very cool addition for the parent of a toddler. I love the sauna, but usually it’s located outside of a cottage and using it in the evening, when your toddler is finally asleep is not so easy. I also discovered, that Mia loves sauna and she will be definitely going to the spa with me in the far away future. Imagine this little girl sitting with me in the sauna and telling stories about snow and our travel. Priceless!
Coming to Lapland’s my childhood dream come true. And it was worth being a dream for such a long time, because almost each day I was dazed with it’s beauty. Lapland with 3 year old, or any age near by is definitely possible, and to be honest, awesome! I was a bit afraid it will be too cold for her, but I guess I was thinking in my personal categories. She loved the snow. She was not interested in walking with the paths, she created her own all the time, which ment ending up in a very deep snow. She was excited about all the trees covered in a snow and reindeers running around, which she was chasing with me with a carrot in hand. In the evening we did some sauna, sit in front of a fireplace, play. We’ve been there for a week and I think it was a perfect time. We did not only enjoy the snow, but did all the activities we wanted. There’s also a bigger chance to see Aurora Borelli lights when you’re there a bit longer than a weekend.
Tips:
- Invest in a very good warm clothes for your kid. Especially shoes and gloves. With -32*C during a day it is very helpful. Mia was way better prepared than I was and I started to think that I am a mother obsessing about her kid. During our stay in Finland, when the weather came to -32*C I thanked myself for doing so. There were times when Tomasz and I were freezing and Mia was totally fine.
- Cars are amazing because they have tricks, like starting it with a button. You can start the engine, let the car heat a bit and come back. From what I notice, most of the locals do it. You don’t need the key inside, so you don’t have to worry. And there’s a big difference to start driving in an extremely cold car and a warm and cozy one (it was so cold that carrots froze when I left them in a car during a day).
- Snow is deep and I mean it. There were times when we ended up in a snow, high to our hips. All because of Mia, who definitely wanted to check things out and they were never on a path.
- do some sauna, it is amazing how it warms up each centimetre in your body after a very cold day.
What we did:
Husky safari was incredible. The first time I saw the dogs already waiting for us to sit on the sledge I started to cry as all the feelings inside me were just too much. The dogs could not wait to start running! They were excited like crazy, but they did not copy me with crying thankfully. The whole idea of the dog team is, that one person sits in the sledge, the second one stands on the back and helps the dogs when it’s uphill or on more difficult parts. The first thought when I sat in the sledge was “damn, it does smell with a dog poo”. Yes, it does, but you stop smelling it straight after you start the run. It turns out that dogs are able to run and poo at the same time. The other thing is that whenever the dogs from the other sledge end up next to you, they feel obliged to pee on you. Thankfully, we got all cover clothes from the husky farm, so it wasn’t such a big deal (but it was the first time a dog peed on me twice during 1h). When it comes to the experience, I must say “OMG, the coolest, funniest, exciting experience ever!” The dogs were so friendly and cute, I just wanted to sit with them and talk to them. Yes, I do talk to animals and I usually tell them how awesome they are and how much I adore them. We switched places with Tomasz, so each one of us had a chance to steer the sledge and to hug Mia on the way. It is fun, but also a hard work, because sometimes you need to push the sledge or run next to it while paying attention when to jump back. You have many choices, you can go for an overnight safari, or 3 days long one, but we took the 2,5h one and we were totally satisfied, as our 3 year old has a limit in her tolerance.
Aureole Borelli - I was sure that I will not be able to see it, as I could not see Mia on a night safari. Tomasz did and we decided on a sledge pulled by a snowmobile. At the beginning, it was all good, I even kept thinking what all the fuss about being cold is all about. After about 30 minutes I got it. The temperature of your body drops and doesn’t matter how many layers of the socks or how many gloves you have, it starts to be very cold. There were times when I thought that I will not manage for longer than 10 minutes. But, with no surprise, Mia was super ok, super excited and not cold at all. She sang songs for everyone and when we stopped for a hot coffee and snacks, she was the one who wanted to go out and search for lights (none of the adults did). This trip was the first time for many things, first night safari, first aurora light hunt failure and the first time I used the arctic toilet. I do not recommend it - super cold experience. We did not see the aurora lights that particular night, but we did the next day. We drove to Nellim by a car, parked next to a river and waited with all the lights off for 3 hours. It was worth it! I did not take my tripod and my pictures are not so good, but I have one as a souvenir. Mia kept sleeping in a warm car, we were talking with Tomasz about life and our future plans.
Snowmobile safari was so much fun. Mia went with us as well. For this kind of fun you need to have a driving licence and as I am the only one in this family with one, I could drive the snowmobile and Tomasz ended up in a sledge with our baby girl. Ups. Snowmobile is much different than a scooter, it’s not so easy to drive, as the road (frozen river and forest) is not as simple to drive through. But it was fun!
This trip taught me many things, but the most important one is, that my kid loved each step of the adventure. I went many places with her, we ended up in many extreme situations and she always ends up being the awesome one. Not complaining, not crying, not being bored, excited about the next step. We made many activities including very low temperatures and she did not mind at all. Only one thing makes me sad - the school obligation will start in a few years and she won’t be able to be on the road with me.
Wild Spirit Park - great place with rescued animals. We had a chance to see a fluffy white arctic fox, always hungry wild pigs and many huskies.
Here are the addresses and companies we used. We made quite a research and were very satisfied with each one:
- Hut in the woods
- Husky safari - Husky Guesthouse
- Night Aurora lights safari and snowmobile safari"
- Restaurant Kultahippu" - delicious reindeer steak
- Bistro Cafe Ivalo - delicious sandwiches and hot coco
- Wild Spirit Park
You need to try:
- LEIPÄJUUSTO - this cheese rocks!
- reindeer steak
- karjalanpiirakka - pastries, which will make a good breakfast
What we learned:
- there are only 15 white foxes left in Finland. They are usually killed by red foxes in the wild. They are completely white during the winter and get black spots during a warm season.
- reindeers in Finland are semi-free. Each one belongs to someone. The owners are Sami people (original Lapland inhabitants). There may be only particular amount of reindeers in the forests so each year they count them and if there’s too many, some part goes for the meat.
- reindeers are awesome and they will let you come for about 20m close.
- reindeers run in a very funny way.
- sometimes you see aurora lights and you’re not aware that it’s there, but if you take a picture, you’ll see it straight away.

[ ZENDAYA COLEMAN, CISFEMALE, SHE/HER] — If you’re strolling Derry today, you might see [ LEONA LANCASTER ] along the way! The [ TWENTY-THREE ] year old can usually be found at [ BARTINI as HEAD BARTENDER / OCCASIONAL DANCER ], when they aren’t busy with [ GETTING DRUNK / HIGH or STUDYING ]. I hear they seem to be [ INDEPENDENT and GENUINE ], but they are also rumored to be [ UNRESTRAINED and WILD ].
Basic Info
Full Name: Leona Alexis Lancaster Nickname(s): Lee, Le, Little Lion Age: 23 Occupation: Head Bartender at Bartini Dance Club Birthday: Sept 13th
Family
Father (adopted): Alistair Lancaster Father (adopted): Antonio Hernandez-Lancaster Birth Mother: Name is Unknown. She was a teenage mother, though, and possibly a drug addict herself Sibling(s): Older (adopted) Brother, Harlow (28)
Physical Appearance
Height: 5′10′’ Weight: 118 lbs Hair Color / Type: Dark brown / Naturally curly. She sometimes straightens it Eye Color: Dark Brown Piercings: Two piercings each on the right and left earlobes; once on the right and left cartilages
Personality
(+) Independent, Genuine, Down to Earth, Genius, Fiercely Loyal (-) Unrestrained, Wild, Impulsive, Reckless, Sarcastic
She’s pretty nice to almost everyone, and tries her best not to judge others for their situations, seeing she’s not exactly perfect herself. She’s very chilled and down to earth, and is super, SUPER smart but tries her best to hide that from people, because of all the hate she got during her high school years.
Has no restrains at the moment, and is very reckless and impulsive because of that. She gets high and drunk and sleeps around all the time and doesn’t really care too much what everyone else thinks of it.
VERY sarcastic, but moreso in a humorous way than her just being truly nasty (she doesn’t really have a malicious bone in her body)
She’s well aware that she is a fucking mess (she uses that phrase quite a lot to describe herself), and while she cares, she has no plans of actually stopping. Mostly because she doesn’t know how and also because she loves the feelings her highs give her far too much.
She lies and says that it’s only for fun and she could and will stop, but...she’s lying through her teeth.
She suffers from severe depression, which contributes heavily to her substance abuse. It’s not been diagnosed and so it has gone untreated for years - basically since jr high school.
She has very low self esteem and she has no self worth. You could tell her she’s the prettiest girl in the room and she won’t believe you. This comes from her school years where she was bullied severely, and from her depression. She was called every horrible name under the sun and she’s come to believe them all. She thinks she’s incredibly ugly and completely undesirable.
She’s a literal genius, but the bullying she suffered in high school has caused her to hate that about herself. Her mind is always busy, racing with thoughts and she finds it so hard to turn it off when she’s sober...so she gets high to help her do it for her.
She is NOT suicidal, but she does, occasionally, get suicidal thoughts. This could possibly change as her addiction and depression continues to go untreated.
Her drug (and alcohol) addiction is getting more and more out of control. It’s pretty obvious, just looking at her most days, that she’s not okay.
You will catch her staring blankly at the walls, unresponsive. That can be really unnerving to witness, because her eyes look dead. This is her at the peak of her high.
She’s practically starving herself. She doesn’t even think to eat, even when she feels hungry which is pretty rare, unless someone literally hands her food. And even then she just pecks at it.
She’s very thin and getting thinner by the day. She doesn’t notice.
Interests / Likes / Habits
She practically lives at Bartini, the local night club. She works there as head bartender, but it’s hardly work to her. She thrives on the atmosphere of the place, and if it weren’t for closing times during the daylight hours, she’d likely spend all day there if she could.
Getting drunk and high constantly, practically every other day (she goes on day-long benders sometimes)
Likes going to a good party, and has a pretty good ‘partydar’ - in which she tends to find parties quite easily. She was such a good girl in high school, and now that she was an adult and living in her own place with her roommates, she felt free to do as she pleased.
Gets along with most everyone. Only bullies tend to get her riled up.
Has a gray tabby cat name Rookie, who she loves dearly, even though he can be a bit of an ornery little shit at times.
Has a beautiful singing voice, and isn’t shy about breaking out into song at random, and sometimes rather inappropriate places.
Has a fantastic fashion sense. She absolutely loves fashion and therefore, loves shopping. The part of her paychecks that don’t go towards her bills and drug addiction, goes towards her rather expansive wardrobe.
Biography
Was actually born in Chicago, IL., to a teenage mother who wanted nothing to do with her after she was born. She was put up for adoption almost as soon as she came into the world.
Luckily, she was adopted just a short time later (at six months old) by Alistair and Antonio Lancaster. They were a happily married gay couple from Maine who were looking to adopt a second child. They already had a son, who that they had also adopted.
Leona grew up, alongside her older brother in Derry, Maine. From a very early age, it was clear to everyone in her family that she was highly intellectual. Though not quite a child prodigy, Leona did have a much higher IQ than most her age, and she quickly found her classes to be a breeze - so much so, in fact, that she was inevitably forced by both her parents and the school administrators to skip several grades. She found the entire experience mortifying and traumatic, as all the kids she now had to surround herself with were much older and bigger than her. She hated it.
Of course, being the smallest and youngest in her class resulted in several painful years of humiliation and bullying. She was always being teased and picked on and publicly humiliated, mostly by the older girls. By the time her high school graduation came around, the then 14-year-old had been ecstatic and relieved to finally be leaving high school behind.
When her dads tried to push her into going to university right after, Leona had absolutely refused to go. She wanted to wait until she was 18 or even older, determined not to have another repeat of her high school years, where she was several years younger than everyone else.
She actually attended university in Portland when she was nineteen, but after attending there for two years, she transferred to the community college back in Derry to complete her degrees in Business and Art.
While she was away from home and in Portland, she learned to let loose a bit - or, maybe a little more than a bit. She got invited to many campus parties and made plenty of friends, some who were not of the best influence on her. By the time Leona returned to Derry, she’s been addicted to the freedom and the fun that drink and drug provided her on a near nightly basis.
Her dads did not know about her problems with alcohol or drugs, but her brother did and worried for her a great deal. The two were very close and he didn’t like that she was destroying herself and wasting her potential.
#derryintro#finally got it somewhat completed#might add some wcs and other stuff later#hmu for plots if you're interested!#this intro is ridiculously long

30,003 steps of deer, shrines and new cities
Today was a big day of getting the most out of my JR pass. I woke up early and grabbed the local train to Nara. The city is best know for the approximately 1200 deer that roam freely around Nara Park which encompasses most of the major temples, dating back to the 8th century. The deer are protected because, as legend has it, a mighty god that came to visit the aristocrats in Nara came in riding on a white deer. From the train station it looks like a very normal city, until you hit the park limits and the first of the deer. Many tourists, myself included, are stunned when they first see the deer. Many tourists, myself included, also buy crackers without fully realizing the deer will nip and chase anyone with crackers. To be fair, they are wild animals and the nips weren't that aggressive (more of a "hey, I'm back here and would like a cracker") -- that said, I got rid of my crackers fairly quickly. A few funny sights: - One woman tried to hide behind a fence - I guess forgetting that deer are excellent jumpers - It seemed odd to me that some families let the mother, who also happened to be holding a baby, buy the crackers! - A little asian boy, probably 12 years old, screaming the girliest scream I've ever heard - Countless little girls freaked out by this experience -- I think this would have been me at ages 4 - 14 Once I had a bit of fun with the deer I decided to get on with my busy schedule as I only had a few hours in Nara. I headed to the Kasuga Taisha Shrine which was a gorgeous walk lined with thousands (literally) of ancient stone lanters. This was the shrine the aristocrats back in the 8th century had built in the forest and its age alone made it awe-inspiring to me. Next I walked through the woods to Todaiji Temple. The original temple was built at the same time as Kasuga Taisha, but was burnt down twice due to war. I saw a model of the old temple and it was even bigger than today (though today is the largest wooden structure in the world). It also had two pagodas that flanked the temple which were each 100 meters tall. Just incredible what people were able to do in the name of religion and without modern technology... also saddening how every temple has its own story of destruction caused by war. Often that war was WWII. Inside this massive structure is a Giant Buddha, and that it is! I headed back to the train station, giving myself some time to check out local foods. I got a delicious sesame rice cake (so much better than what you have in your mind). A bit further into town I heard people chanting and a crowd gathering. When I got closer I realized they were making dough - one man quickly folding before the other slammed it down with a huge wooden mallot. What a way to knead dough! Of course it would be rude not to try it... it had an almost runny dough exterior, filled with black bean paste (which as you may have noticed is my new favorite thing). Next, I hopped onto the train to Osaka. You might ask why I didn't plan more than half a day in Osaka - read on and you'll understand. Things started off well as I miraculously guessed the right stop to get off which deposited me right next to the Osaka Castle. It was a really gorgeous structure, a Castle on the Hill as one of my favorite songs right now states. I only had a few hours (and am a little torn on museums right now given my Tokyo trip) so I moved on to the Shi-Tennoji Temple which dates back to 574 and is said to be the oldest official temple. It was built by Prince Shotoku who was one of the first people to bring Buddhism to Japan. It was relatively simple, though admittedly my standards have risen the past few days, but what really surprised me was that I was the only tourist there. Perhaps its lack of sparkle means its only frequented by locals, because every single sign was only in Japanese. To get to Sumiyoshi-taisha Shrine I took the Osaka tram. (Side note: If you ever come to Japan the first thing you should do is buy a Passmo - a card you can use on all the bus / subway / tram lines but also for any convenience store purchases. It has saved me scrambling for undecipherable coins too many times to count.) It was a pretty cool experience on the tram as you got to see the city during the trip -- although I must say that Osaka is a pretty standard "big city," and at the risk of sounding grim, one with little charm. That said, the shrine was another gorgeously manicured place and, in my opionion, the coolest feature was the Taiko-bashi bridge which was the steepest bridge I have ever climbed. I almost could have used my hands as if I were on a ladder. Finally, I had planned to grab dinner at a place recommended by one of Stephen's Wharton friends in the downtown Dotonburi area. I was pretty excited about this as I had been snacking for most of the day and was pretty tired and hungry by 5pm. I arrived at the restaurant and they said without a reservation they couldn't let me in. This is the first time I have been turned down as a single traveler, and while they claimed it was because they serve meals in separate rooms (so I couldn't just sit at a bar), I wonder if it was because after a day of traveling, and with my backpack, I looked a bit too "traveler-like." Oh well. I headed to the main strip of Dotonburi instead which was actually super cool and ended up eating at a yakitori, at a seat right on the river. With the sun setting over the river, lots of pedestrians on the wooden boardwalk and boat cruises moving by, it was super picturesque and it was beyond me why I was the only one sitting outside! I ordered a Japanese cocktail and while I was afraid it would be super sweet it turned out being fantastic - soju with club soda and lime. Yum. Alas, it was time to head back to Kyoto though. I was booked on the last train and planned plenty of wiggle room to make sure I wasn't stuck in Osaka for the night. (For reals.) Good thing too as I spent 30 minutes trying to find the subway to get to my train station. Amazingly, when I finally boarded the train back to Kyoto, I barely had time to plug in my phone and put stamps on a few postcards before we arrived. It's only 10 minutes on the Shinkasen from Osaka to Kyoto, meaning we were going an amazing 180 mph. Wowza. And over 30k steps later I am superbly tired. So time for rest before another busy day tomorrow!

Pas de Deux- Chapter 1 (Trixya)- Arcadia
A/N: Have an Early 1900’s cis girls ballerinas AU !! This is the first fic I’ve submitted here. I’ve had this idea in my head for a REALLY long time and I finally worked up the courage to write it and submit it. I know the title is very cliché, it just basically means ‘a duet between a man and woman’ but screw that it’s two women now. This fic will touch on topics like internalized homophobia that goes with the time and I’ll list any other warnings before each chapter starts. I apologize for any historical or literary inaccuracies, I don’t know a lot about ballet I just wanted an excuse to write historical lesbian smut(that won’t happen until later though). There will be a few side pairings. I’m not a super experienced writer so if anyone wants to give some helpful feedback that’d be great. Fingers crossed! Sorry if this is horrible!
Chapter 1
Trixie adjusted her hat carefully as she stepped off the train and onto the crowded walkway. She struggled to juggle her three suitcases in her grip and helplessly searched around for a porter. The station was incredibly busy. It was spring in Paris and everyone was returning home from winters abroad in America or business ventures in the East. But for Trixie this was her first time in the city and she couldn’t help but feel terribly out of place in the swarms of people. She suddenly felt self-conscious of her soft floral dress, pale pink overcoat and long wild curls that were threatening to escape the bun at the base of her neck. She looked every bit like the American country girl next to these posh and fashionable Parisians. Her French wasn’t excellent either, she knew some greetings but that was nearly it. She was standing out in the worst way.
A tight lump formed in her throat as she looked around almost desperately for the driver she had been promised would be awaiting her. In one of her turns she lightly whacked some poor man on the knee who angrily swore at her.
“Désolée Monsieur.” She apologized hastily but he had already stomped off. Her mother had warned her that the French had a reputation of being unfriendly.
She stood up on her toes, craning her neck and almost groaned, very unladylike, in relief at the sight of a handsome man in a suit with her name on his sign by the entrance to the station.
“Miss Beatrice Mattel?” He asked in an almost bored voice. She was surprised to hear he was an American like herself.
“That’s me.” She smiled, deciding not to correct him with her nickname, hoping to come off friendly and polite. He arched a brow and pulled her suitcases from her hands, expecting her to follow as he turned on his heel swiftly. As soon as they were outside she balked at the sight of automobiles whizzing past and she watched them in awe. In her hometown there had been only one, which belonged to the mayor. Here, there had to be at least 20 on this street alone.
“Miss Mattel?” Her companion brought her out of her thoughts in an annoyed tone. She hurried over to the coach he stood by. She was a little disappointed he didn’t drive an automobile but she was also thankful since she had never ridden in one before and didn’t know if she would like it.
She scolded herself for not asking his name sooner as he was now sat ahead with his back to her and she shouldn’t yell to converse with him while he navigated the busy streets. Realizing she would have no conversation to distract her from her nerves, she instead picked anxiously at a frayed thread on her gloves and watched as city transformed into country out the window. She had been ecstatic to receive an invitation into Ru’s Academy of Ballet. One out of a handful of young dancers that had been selected for the prestigious company. Trixie knew she was talented, but she never expected in her wildest dreams that she would train with the world’s best dancers. Her mother had cried, at twenty years old, she had signed a two year contract to tour as a professional dancer. It would be rigorous training, she was sure, but she knew it was worth it.
What she was most nervous about was the other girls. She hadn’t had many friends in her town and didn’t know how to act around what she assumed would be beautiful, talented, upper class girls. To make things worse, Trixie was a week late, her mother had to work extra days so she could pay for Trixie’s ticket across the Atlantic. The other girls had left and traveled together, they would all be closer and knew each other better.
After what felt like years but had only been perhaps 4 hours, a large stone edifice came into view. The house-turned-academy was incredible in its size and beauty. The long road leading to it was surrounded by lush trees and neatly trimmed hedges. Blooming vines crept up the walls of the manor and sunlight glimmered upon a lake by the east. It was like something out of a fairy tale. The inside was even more remarkable. Above marble floors hung a grand chandelier that twinkled delicately under the waning sunlight streaming in through the windows. A parted staircase led to two hallways that escaped her current sight. The ceiling was painted to resemble the transition of sunset to night sky. Trixie had never seen any design as exquisite as the one she now stood and would live in.
A maid with dark hair and full lips shuffled down quickly and took the bags from her driver.
“Thank you David.” Trixie hid her surprise at the informal address by the maid. She offered a smile to her driver, David, who nodded curtly and left.
“Hi! So you’re the latest one, Beatrice right? I’m Adore, you will be seeing me the most, I’m usually the one who cleans the rooms and serves you breakfast.” The odd maid cocked her head, signaling Trixie to follow her up the right staircase. She had been thrown by her easy demeanor but found her immediately charming.
“I’m pleased to meet you Adore, please call me Trixie though.”
“Trixie! I like that, it’s very modern.” Adore hummed. Trixie giggled at the thought, she never considered herself a modern woman, but perhaps she should start.
Adore led her down a long hallway adorned with faded paintings and pots of flowers. Towards the end of the hallway they stopped in front of a wooden door.
“All you dancers get your own rooms, which is pretty grand, I have to share with DeLa but that’s because we’re maids and you are obviously… not.” Adore seemed to forget where she’d started but Trixie thought her rambling was comforting.
“The other girls just finished dinner and are in the parlor now but I can have Ginger, that’s the cook, make you something if you’re hungry?”
“Thank you Adore, that would be great.” She had not eaten a thing since this morning.
Trixie went about unpacking. Her room wasn’t very large but generously furnished, soft pink wallpaper and teal cushioned seats in front of a fireplace. The manor was old but the décor was modern and thoroughly Parisian.
She had hung her coat up and finished the sandwich Adore had brought up when she heard a soft knock on her door. A thin face poked through. Her hair was pale, almost silvery and her skin was like pure porcelain.
“Well, hello there.” Trixie greeted.
“Sorry, I heard another girl arrived and wanted to greet you personally. I’m Max, or Maxine if it pleases you.” She sounded English. She then stepped in and offered a thin hand out to Trixie.
“Trixie, thanks.” She smiled politely, realizing it would be an evening full of introductions.
Max had brought her down to the parlor where she met about twenty other girls. They were all beautiful and proper and made Trixie feel like she hardly belonged.
“You may have been late but at least you aren’t the last to show up.” A statuesque redhead who everyone called “Fame” spoke up.
“Madame Visage won’t start our trainings or even meet with us until this last one shows up, if she does at all.” The voice belonged to Violet, a swan-like girl with long dark curls and a permanent scowl.
“Maybe she hit traffic.” A soft voice drawled from the back. Trixie giggled, seemingly the only one to notice her joking tone. She turned and noticed it was from Alaska. She was looking at a book from the shelf and pretended not to be interested in the conversation.
“I heard she’s a Russian.” Gia spoke up.
“So?” Pearl said from her seat next to Violet, the two seemed joined at the hip.
Trixie tuned out the rest of their gossiping. She was happy to hear of the arrival of another girl, maybe then she wouldn’t be the center of attention. Then again, the girls hadn’t seemed very interested in her in the first place.
Well, now you’ve just made yourself sad.
She got up from her seat by Max who sent her a small smile, and walked to the book shelf by Alaska. Alaska was beautiful, lean, and had the most incredible arched eyebrows above wide brown eyes. She seemed a bit reserved but not out of shyness, perhaps it was disinterest.
Trixie smiled at Alaska, who just blinked at her and returned to her book. Outside it began to rain.
At least Max likes me. She thought sadly. She grabbed a random romance novel and sat at an empty seat by the fireplace, away from the other girls. The rain, and Trixie’s heart, grew heavier.
An hour had passed when Trixie looked up from her book at the sound of the large front doors opening. The outside deluge grew louder and then it ceased and was replaced with the shuffling of wet heels on marble. The other girls in the parlor stopped talking. In walked a rain-soaked girl with an out of breath grin on her face.
“Hello.” A smooth voice with a slight foreign accent crooned, she wiggled her gloveless fingers in a wave and Trixie could see Violet and Pearl turn and snicker into each other’s shoulders at the disheveled stranger. Her smile drooped a bit and she wrung her hands together looking suddenly very unsure of herself. Trixie wanted to stand up and comfort her for some odd reason, usually she had trouble meeting new people, as it were. She was relieved to see Max stand up and greet her warmly. Trixie was once again endeared by her genuine disposition.
“You must be our last girl! We are all excited to meet you!” Violet scoffed in the back and Trixie couldn’t resist the urge to roll her eyes. Max ignored her.
“What’s your name?” she asked excitedly.
“My name is Yekaterina Petrovna Zamolodchikova, but please, call me Katya.” She smiled again showing off perfect bright teeth.
Katya. The name sounded new and melodic to Trixie’s ears.
Max pulled her near the stairs to where Trixie could no longer hear. The other girls had moved on back to their conversations. She took advantage of the distracted room and observed the Russian girl curiously. She had on a crimson coat that hugged her slim waist and a matching skirt, the bottom was covered in mud as were her boots. She wore no gloves and her blouse was black and sheer to Trixie’s shock. Her collarbone and the tops of her breasts visible under the material. She ignored the flush she felt on her cheeks and credited it to the fire she was sat so close to. Her stepfather would call Katya a harlot for wearing a blouse like that. She had blonde hair in a messy coil that sagged from the rain under her red hat. The girl’s face is what made her still. She was incredibly beautiful. Smooth ivory skin and the sharpest cheekbones she had ever seen. Her eyes were rimmed in more makeup than Trixie was sure was socially acceptable. Her lips were full and red and looked soft to the touch.
What?
She didn’t know why the thought of touching her lips entered her mind and looked down at her book quickly. Her gaze was drawn back soon enough. Another figure entered the room then, all the girls looked up when they noticed the newcomer was of the male variety. Trixie admired the handsome man in an equally wet suit laden with suitcases. He had white blond hair parted to the side and modern glasses. He huffed dramatically and offered a tight smile to the girls in the parlor. Trixie almost snorted when she noticed Alaska’s curious gaze eye him up.
Adore and another maid came in from upstairs and took Katya’s bags from the burdened companion. His suit wasn’t that of a chauffeurs and he looked at Katya with a warmth in his eyes. Was he her husband? Lover? She saw no rings on their fingers. Now free of her bags, he enveloped her in a tight hug and she pressed a quick kiss on his cheek as she gave her goodbyes. Some of the girls blanched at the public embrace while others sagged at the assumption that the attractive stranger had a girl. Alaska’s eyes followed him as he left the room.
Katya’s gaze swept over the room and landed on Trixie’s before she gave her a gentle smile. She turned then and followed the maids upstairs. Trixie’s heart fluttered and she wasn’t sure why. She looked back at her book but found she couldn’t concentrate as thunder cracked outside.

OC Questions: Goldie Miller
Here’s some questions I found (because I guess I suck at finding questionnaires?) that I wanted to do to introduce my wild child, Goldie! I’m still working on her, honestly, but I kinda like where she’s at rn. It’s a smidgen long so it’s going under the line. Enjoy!
Does your character have siblings or family members in their age group? Which one are they closest with? Goldie is an only child, which wasn’t very fun for her because she didn’t really have a whole lot to do when she was cooped up in her house with her mom.
What is/was your character’s relationship with their mother like? When Goldie was growing up, she looked up to her mom because what little girl doesn’t wanna be like their mommy, right? And her mom was there for her when she could. But when Goldie grew older and started a life of sex and clubbing, her mom disowned her and kicked her out. (Sucks to have a religious nut as a mom. No fun allowed.)
What is/was your character’s relationship with their father like? Goldie’s dad upped sticks after he knocked up Goldie’s mom. They had planned for kids but the pressure of playing daddy was too much for the guy.
Has your character ever witnessed something that fundamentally changed them? If so, does anyone else know? Well, when Goldie was in high school, she saw a lot of the other students making out in the hallways and junk, you know, stereotypical high school bullshit. And for a while, she was doing really good cuz she was a little religious thanks to her mom. But then one day, she caught a couple students fucking in the bathroom after school and she wanted to know more. And that’s how she started down the path of debauchery.
On an average day, what can be found in your character’s pockets? Her phone, car keys, casino id, wallet, condoms...
Does your character have recurring themes in their dreams? She doesn’t really have dreams...
Does your character have recurring themes in their nightmares? She has nightmares about her mom sometimes. She still really loves and cares about her...
Has your character ever fired a gun? If so, what was their first target? Nah, Goldie has never held a gun before, she doesn’t like them. She has a knife when she’s working, though!
Is your character’s current socioeconomic status different than it was when they were growing up? Uh? No? I don’t think it’s changed? Well, she’s dating her boss who runs a casino, so I guess she’s kinda wealthy now as compared to living in her car before he gave her a job?
Does your character feel more comfortable with more clothing, or with less clothing? *sweats* Goldie is very proud of her body so she like’s showing it off when she can. So less.
In what situation was your character the most afraid they’ve ever been? When she was kicked out of her house, she was terrified. She had no one who could really take her in, she had no job, she was stuck living in her car bouncing from casino to casino gambling for food money. Sometimes the table workers would take pity on her and give her chips to trade in for money but other times she would go hungry and steal from the grocery store.
In what situation was your character the most calm they’ve ever been? After she was given her job by her boss, she felt so great. She knew everything was going to be ok after that.
Is your character bothered by the sight of blood? If so, in what way? She’s not too terribly squeamish but blood does give her chills.
Does your character remember names or faces easier? Oh yeah! She’s really good at remembering people and names! (I wish I was lol)
Is your character preoccupied with money or material possession? Why or why not? She was incredibly materialistic before but now she’s kinda humbled out. After losing literally everything, she tried to enjoy everything she had as much as she could. Never know when you may have to pawn something for dinner.
Which does your character idealize most: happiness or success? Happiness! She’s never really cared about how successful she was going to be, she just always wanted to enjoy life and what she was doing to the fullest.
What was your character’s favorite toy as a child? She was a sucker for Barbie dolls.
Is your character more likely to admire wisdom, or ambition in others? She has a thing for ambitious people; she loves a guy/girl who is willing to do what they can to get what they want. She finds it to be a very attractive trait.
What is your character’s biggest relationship flaw? Has this flaw destroyed relationships for them before? When she used to club a lot and fuck literally anything on two legs, she had commitment issues. She would rather have one nighters than a full relationship. At least til she met James.
In what ways does your character compare themselves to others? Do they do this for the sake of self-validation, or self-criticism? She tries not to be judgmental, but she ran with the mean girls for a while. So she used to be really mean to validate her own beauty.
If something tragic or negative happens to your character, do they believe they may have caused or deserved it, or are they quick to blame others? Ha ha! ACTUALLY, FUNNY THING! Her mom has cancer! And she wants to see Goldie before she dies! But Goldie fucking hates herself and can’t bare the idea of facing her mom! :D
What does your character like in other people? She likes people who enjoy life and just wanna have fun!
What does your character dislike in other people? People who are really stuffy and kinda just put work first before finding the time to relax.
How quick is your character to trust someone else? Pretty quick, I think. I mean, she would want to get to know you a little better before putting her life in your hands, but basic trust is usually granted immediately.
How quick is your character to suspect someone else? Does this change if they are close with that person? She’s not a very suspicious or wary person, but obviously if she notices something fishy, she’s gonna be a little cautious.
How does your character behave around children? Oh my God, if you put a baby in front of her she will gush and play with them for hours until the poor thing passes out. She absolutely loves kids.
How does your character normally deal with confrontation? .-. Goldie is a very confrontational woman. She does not give a fuck.
How quick or slow is your character to resort to physical violence in a confrontation? Ok, she gets pretty steamed and screamy, but she wouldn’t get violent. If anything, she would just storm out and go to the bar for a couple hours.
What did your character dream of being or doing as a child? Did that dream come true? She wanted to be a singer when she was little, which I think is a dream most little girls had (I know I did haha). Obviously, no, it did not come true.
What does your character find repulsive or disgusting? Food that doesn’t look or smell like food. She’s never really minded bugs, bugs are cool. But she’s kind of a food snob and likes to eat something that looks good and not like mushed grubs.
Describe a scenario in which your character feels most comfortable. She’s super comfortable in any kind of club or bar. She’s pretty comfy in the casino she works at cuz she knows that if anyone were to hit on her or try getting handsy, James would have them kicked out.
Describe a scenario in which your character feels most uncomfortable. She’s not very comfortable in a normal situation where she kinda has to pretend she’s not outgoing. James takes her to business parties sometimes and she haaaaaaaaates it.
In the face of criticism, is your character defensive, self-deprecating, or willing to improve? She finds criticism to be a very polite form of insulting people, so she gets defensive as fuck. But, if the situation is handled calmly, and there are strong points made, she is incredibly willing to improve.
Is your character more likely to keep trying a solution/method that didn’t work the first time, or immediately move on to a different solution/method? Her mom always told her “If at first you don’t succeed”, so if a method or solution doesn’t work at first, she’ll try it again cuz maybe she didn’t do it right the first time. But if it doesn’t work a second time, then she’ll move on.
How does your character behave around people they like? She is very bubbly and chatters about everything. She’s very open with people she likes.
How does your character behave around people they dislike? She’s a cynical and sarcastic bitch around people she can’t stand.
Is your character more concerned with defending their honor, or protecting their status? I would imagine she cares more about her honor than her status. “You’re a whore, you’re dating your boss!” “Ok, first off, rude. Secondly, during work hours, we have a very professional relationship. Thirdly, who’s dick I suck is none of your fucking business.”
Is your character more likely to remove a problem/threat, or remove themselves from a problem/threat? She’s the one to remove herself from the problem.
Has your character ever been bitten by an animal? How were they affected (or unaffected)? No, no animal bites.
How does your character treat people in service jobs? Like maids and mechanics and stuff? She is incredibly respectful of people who have jobs like that. Why would you be rude to people like that? They’re doing the stuff no one else really wants to do, they deserve a great amount of respect for that.
Does your character feel that they deserve to have what they want, whether it be material or abstract, or do they feel they must earn it first? No, she’s incredibly humble now. She works hard to get what she wants, even though James is more than willing to go out and buy her literally anything she asked for.
Has your character ever had a parental figure who was not related to them? Not really, she was a little sheltered growing up.
Has your character ever had a dependent figure who was not related to them? No, not really. I mean, if you can call little kids always going over to Goldie’s house growing up to get food when they played, then I guess?
How easy or difficult is it for your character to say “I love you?” Can they say it without meaning it? Before, if anyone told Goldie they loved her, she was out. Good-bye, gone. But she can look James dead in the eye and the words will tumble out so willingly and so easily that she doesn’t care.
What does your character believe will happen to them after they die? Does this belief scare them? Well, she used to be religious, so she believed that she would go to Heaven when she died. But, after everything she’s done in her life, she doesn’t really think that’s gonna happen and she’s fine with that.
