The clouds were rolling in rapidly, way faster than you had anticipated. The trees were shaking with the gusts of wind. You had only received the alert of the impending storm on your phone about an hour ago. After giving your weather app one last look, you sighed heavily and tossed your phone on the couch next to you.
It wasnât that you didnât like the rain; you did, in fact you loved it. But, tonight was supposed to be a ladies night out with your friend. You and her had been very excited to try that new Pho place downtown and then go for drinks. You especially had been looking forward to it.Â
The rain started splattering against the window, the heavy wind getting fiercer by the minute. There was no sense in getting ready for a night that wasnât going to happen. Your friend has already canceled over an hour ago.
You thought about asking your boyfriend. He had just gotten back into town a few days ago.Jisung had been away for weeks while touring and neither of you have spent any time together. You had texted him ranting about your ruined plans and he had suggested he come over, but you would never ask him to face the storm.Â
As if he knew you were thinking about him, your phone lit up with a call from âSungie <3â.Â
âHey Ji, I was just thinking about you.â You answered, heart feeling heavy at having to be away from him.
âFunny enough, Iâm always thinking of you, my baby.â You heard a car door slam on his end, âYour favorite kind of pho is chicken, right?âÂ
âYeah, whhyyyy?â You drawled. You didnât get an answer from him, instead you were startled when your doorbell rang. âWhat the fuck, you didnât!â You hung up the phone and rushed to the door, flinging it open to find your boyfriend in all his smiling glory, with arms full with food and snacks. âJi!âÂ
âDelivery for the prettiest girl in the world!â His arms were full or he would have hugged you. You took some of the stuff from his arms and stepped aside for him to enter your home.Â
âWhat are you doing here, you crazy person?! Do you not see the insane storm that's coming in?â you chastise even though you were beaming, unable to hide your elation at seeing him in your home. You wish you knew he was coming so you could have changed out of your pjs.
âWow there's a storm outside?â He said sarcastically, acting shocked. âI couldnât tell.â You pushed him playfully, and he laughed. âI kinda thought that we could weather the storm together, I mean, if you want? I brought Pho from that place you wanted to try and a bunch of snacks and candy! I remember you talking about building blanket forts when you were little, so I also figured we could build one to snuggle in? I brought my string lights.âÂ
âOh Jiâ you wanted to cry, he was so thoughtful. He always paid the utmost attention to what you say, even absentmindedly. âThis is perfect. You are perfect. Thank you my love.â You set down the bags you took from him and attacked him in a hug.Â
He hugged you back just as tightly, sweeping you off the ground, âAnything for you my baby.â He set you down with a wet smooch to your forehead. Youâre stuck with me until this storm is over! No girl of mine is gonna be alone with this bullshit going on outside!â You noticed he had a backpack on, those must be his clothes for a few days. As if you didnât already have a stache of his clothes already.Â
The building process was surprisingly pretty quick. Jisung had demanded you build the fort before you ate, so you can âeat in the ambiance and celebrate the fruits of our laborâ as he had said. Youâre pretty sure the motivation came from keeping the food hot, making you both get to work. Luckily you were a blanket hoarder so you had plenty to use and pile on the floor.Â
As Ji was hanging the string lights as the finishing touch you set out the food for both of you on the tray you put in the fort. He was right, it was worth the wait. It felt so magical somehow. You must have been stuck in a state of wonder for sometime because Jisung opened the side and scooted himself in, now wearing his pjs.
âYou ok there, space cadet?â He teased you, laughing when you pushed him.Â
âIn fact, jackass, I am more than ok.â you set his food down in front of him while he picked something to watch on TV. âYou could even say Iâm happy.âÂ
He chose a Ghibli movie âSpirited awayâ (one of your favorites) then dug into his Pho. âThat was my goal.â Jisung replied with his cheeks full. âI always wanna make you happy.â He said it with a shrug, as if it was no big deal.Â
You were so struck with emotion at his statement, your eyes were filled with unshed tears. Here you were, with the most beautiful boy you had ever seen, sitting in a whimsical blanket fort said beautiful boy made for you, eating the food he bought and brought here for you. He braved the viscous weather for you. You couldnât help the overflow of feelings and the tears started leaking from your eyes. What started as one tear, turned into two, turning into a full rolling stream over your cheeks.Â
When you started sniffling is what finally got his attention, his head snapping over to you and he hurriedly set down his food, shuffling closer to you in panic. âWhatâs wrong?! Do you not like your pho?! We can switch, here take mine please donât cry!âÂ
You wiped your eyes, still sniffling but smiling at his franticness, âNo, itâs just that.. I love you. So much. Iâm so thankful to have you. Thatâs all.âÂ
He seemed shocked at your words, his own eyes looking teary now. âOh my baby, my lover, the apple of my eye. I love you.â He grabbed your hands in his, â You are my inspiration. Every song I write is because of you. I see you in my dreams, and I feel you in my heart when we are apart. Every emotion I have is evoked by you. If anything, I should be thankful for you!âÂ
You attacked him in a tight embrace, not even trying to stop crying now. âStooop being soooooo sappy!â you complained even though you both knew you loved it. He hugged you back just as tight, burying his face in your hair.Â
It was like a release, the way both of you were able to let go of everything inside, both of you completely relaxing into each other. It was always easy to be with Jisung. You had only been together for a little over a year, but Jisung had said (you agreed) you both had to have been lovers in another life. That your fates were intertwined. He claimed it was some pact created before the dawn of time to fate you both together for eternity. Soulmates.Â
You held each other until your sniffling stopped. Just taking in each other's presence. You were the first to pull away, wiping your eyes for the final tears. He gave your cheek a kiss and picked up his food, stuffing his face. You giggled at him then clicked play on the tv, and picked up your food. Thankfully it was still warm.Â
The howling outside only grew stronger as the evening went on. Every so often the windows would rattle and alarm you both, but the scare only ever lasted a second. Your boyfriend had you curled into his side as you were in the middle of your second movie. The whole apartment was dark sans the string lights and the tv, it was the perfect calm to the storm outside.Â
His hand was between your thighs, just keeping warm between your skin. It wasnât a sexual act but you could feel your skin heating up at his touch anyways. You hadnât been touched in weeks, since before he left this last time. Not even by your own hands, though it was more like whenever you try it doesnât feel the same. Your body craves him so much you canât get off without him so why bother. His hand was all you could focus on; knowing he was so close to where you needed him yet he made no moves to close the distance. The man seemed to be paying attention to the movie, if his little hums of laughter was any indication. How was he supposed to know he was unintentionally making you soaking wet? Did he really not notice your silent squirming?
âSungieâ you whispered, moving your face closer to his ear. He hummed in acknowledgement. âCan I tell you something?â He hummed again, â Iïżœïżœïżœm really wet right now.â you placed a kiss to his ear and he shivered visibly.Â
âYou can't just say things like that!â He turned to you, his eyes wide and his cheeks red.Â
âWhy not?â you giggled at his reaction. âItâs true. âVe been drenched since you put your hand in between my thighs.âÂ
He accidentally let out a groan at your dirty words, biting his lip. He turned on his side and pulled your mouth to his, his wet tongue immediately shoving itself in your mouth. His kiss was sloppy- needy even- his soft lips smothering over yours messily. Jisung had been waiting for the right moment to make a move, not wanting you to feel taken advantage of. If only he had known how bad you had wanted him, he would have been on you (and in you) sooner.
His hand that was between your thighs traveled up to your core, feeling you from the outside of your sleep shorts. You let out a whimper when his fingers deftly rubbed over your clothed slit. He stroked you there for a second while his mouth invaded your own, just letting his fingers run along the seam. When you bucked your hips into his hand he finally gave in and let his hand wander into your bottoms. He was immediately able to feel just how badly you needed him.Â
âFuck. you really are drenched, you little devil. Is it all for me?â he bit your lip in between words, his pupils dilated at the liquid he felt coming out of you.Â
âUh huh, always for my Sungie. My sweet boyfriend always makes me sooooo wet for him.â You responded, moaning when he pushed a finger inside. He was an expert with his fingers, those years of guitar coming quite in handy, so he knew exactly how to crook his digits up right into your sweet spot. âSung, fuck, so good.âÂ
You brought one of your own hands down to the growing bulge in his sweats, cupping him the way he likes. Now you were both letting out little moans as you touched each other. Ji added another finger and used his thumb to rub your clit.Â
âSungiiie, wanna ride you. Pleaaasseeâ you tried to push him onto his back. He let you with no hesitation, removing his fingers from you.Â
âOh absolutely, baby.â He ripped his own shirt over his head then laid on his back, tugging his sweat pants down his thighs. Once his pants were down you threw your leg over his thighs, settling yourself atop his member, the precum rubbing on your folds. Ji already looked like he wanted to cum at that little contact.
You tossed your own shirt to the floor beside you and his hands shot straight up to cup your breasts. He was panting as he rubbed on your chest, his thumbs brushing over your nipples. âMmm always so soft, can never get enough of your soft skin.âÂ
You hummed, shifting your hips to rub yourself over his shaft, your arousal coating him and letting you glide over him. His mouth formed a little âoâ as he looked up at you through his lashes. He was just as desperate for you as you were for him, âLover, baby, sweetheart-please let me put it in. Need to feel you around me.â His neediness was showing hard.Â
âSince you asked so nicelyâŠâ You tried your best to smirk but it came out more crooked than you hoped. You reached down underneath you to grab his member. You lifted yourself up slightly to line up his cock to your opening, and then sunk down on him inch by inch. When you had taken his whole length you threw your head back as a moan came out loudly. âF-fuck Hannie, always fill me so good.â
âNghh y/n, oh my god. So warm around me. So fucking tight.â His eyes closed as you sat on him fully. Your boyfriend let his hands run up and down your torso with his thumbs still finding your nipples each time he went back up.Â
You let yourself adjust to his thickness for a moment, before you began to roll your hips back and forth. The friction felt delicious. Every motion let you feel every ridge of him within your walls. âM-missed your cock, Sung.âÂ
âMissed you more, my sweets. Missed your pussy. Mmmmm missed everything about you.â One thing about your boyfriend is when he made love to you, he didnât know how to shut the fuck up. â mâ never leaving you again. Never leaving this pussy again. Youâre gonna be stuck with me forever. Gonna have to pry you from me. Fuck!â He yelled the last part when you started bouncing on him.Â
âWanâ thaâ. Wanna keep you inside forever.â You cooed at him, gaining a rhythm now. Your thighs were already burning but the pleasure out weighed the pain. You placed your hands on his chest for support, riding him like your life depended on it.Â
The touches he gave you were getting rougher, fingers digging into your sides, indents of his painted nails leaving small crescents in your skin. âOh oh please, baby, wanna fill you, wanna cum in you, please baby. Mâ so good for you. Just wanna give you my love.â His hips were bucking as he got closer to his high, unable to keep himself together.Â
âYou are so good fâ me, Sungie. Always the best boy, making me feel so fucking good.â You took one of his hands in yours and took it off of your ribs and brought it down to your clit. âRub it, make me cum, Sungie. Canât cum without you.âÂ
Immediately he began to rub harsh circles on your bundle, his rhythm on the nub being perfect. Jisung lived to please you, he took great pride in knowing exactly how to touch you. His need for praise was too high for him to have a lack of attention.Â
Your thighs began to shake as your orgasm was creeping up on you. You could tell Ji was trying to get you there, his own release about to burst. He was drooling as you looked down at him, and his big eyes were leaking salty tears. His brown eyes were blown out, dark with intense lust for you.
âMâ gonna cum, princess, gonna cum in you. Gonna fill you up, baby.â His voice was straining as he warned you.Â
âDo it, cum in me. Make me yours Ji. You deserve it.â Once you gave him permission the floodgates opened, and he let go inside of you. He was shaking and squirming under you, his hips bucking wildly. His loud whines filled the room, mixing with the howls from the wind outside, creating this beautiful symphony. Witnessing his intense pleasure and feeling his warmth fill you caused you to fly over the edge after him. Your own whimpers follow soon after.Â
âKiss me, please angel.â He begged through his teary whines. You leaned down and captured your lips with his, swallowing each other's moans. You physically couldnât keep yourself on top of him any longer. As soon as the shocks of your orgasm subsided you fell directly on top of him, letting his arms cage you against him as you both fought to get your breath back.Â
Jisung just held you against him, keeping his member inside and just embracing how warm you were. Yeah he had missed the sex, but what he missed more was the intimacy. How the both of you could sit here and just exist within each other. He really loves you more than anything, and he knows you love him just as much. He had told you time and time again you were cosmically aligned, and now more than ever, he felt how true it was.Â
If there's one thing he could absolutely be certain of, it's that right here, under the fairy lights, with you close to him as you peppered his face with wet kisses, was one of the highlights of his life.Â
Maybe it was a good idea to bring the little black box that hid within his bag.Â
Comments and reblogs are very much appreciated!

Okay, I won't lie NSW is more than slightly outside of my area of expertise when it comes to camping but the basics are the same anywhere. You said you have a tent and bag and some gear so we're not starting out at baby beginnings.
Step one, check the forecast. If its gonna be a heat wave or a cold snap or pissing rain wouldn't it be nice to know that before you're sitting miserable in a tent in the middle of nowhere? Plan accordingly, pack accordingly and you will be amazed how much you can deal with if you're prepared for it. Personally I have a nice rainshell with me at all times because it acts as a windbreak, water barrier, and exposure layer. I have taken a rainshell into the mojave desert where it never rains and I was right to do so because the wind got cold. I have occasionally been the overprepared dork, but I have more often been the only one not getting hypothermia.
Step two, know where you're going. As in, what to expect not just physically where it is. Are there restrooms? Water? Animals? Poisonous/stabby plants? Poisonous/stabby bugs? Other campers? Poisonous/stabby campers? Hazards? Cell service? Emergency services? Gas stations? Can you safely have a fire? Can you toast/grill your food or are you having cold dinner?
Step three, pack the most obscenely overdone toiletries kit you can imagine. Yes, this is actually important. My god, human bodies are messy. All your basic overnight goodies and then add sunscreen, bug dope, wet wipes or something similar, your own toilet paper and something to dig with if you're going out past available restrooms, and a small first aid kit. The kit doesn't have to be a full triage supply, tweezers, bandaids, antiseptic and maybe some gauze if you're clumsy. If you are gonna be doing a lot of walking/hiking I also recommend moleskin for blisters. Put the moleskin on BEFORE the blister pops.
Step four, look at the forecast again, assume it's wrong and pack for the worst weather possible. You need a dry pair of socks and undies. You need long sleeves and a spare shirt. Even if it doesn't feel like it, you will sweat through the day and get damp and if you sleep in the same thing you've been wearing you will get chilled. This is why every one says no cotton for camping, no matter where you are. I have a full change of clothes for sleeping so my day clothes can air and dry overnight.
Step five is food and its really each to his own for this one. If you're hiking out you will be more limited as far as weight/refrigeration, but thats somewhat of a trial and error thing. Freeze dried meals have their place but there is no reason it has to be your go to. Remember your water and remember that if you sweat and replace it with nothing but water you will be hurting. Powdered drink mix is your friend. If you're car camping and tenting next to the car I just bring a 5 gallon jug of water that stays in the car and refill waterbottles as needed. (Note: Senshi from dungeon meshi isn't actually an unattainable fantasy, you can cook a full scale meal in the backcountry if you really want to. It is several magnitudes more difficult than you would think if you are used to cooking in a kitchen, but it is possible.)
Step six is assessing your gadgets. If you want your phone you probably need a power pack to charge it. You will want a flashlight for the dark, not your phone, not glowsticks. If you want a camera you have to figure out how to carry that with you. You also need to figure out if you have cell service and a way to call for help. The more intense you get into this, the more you should look at getting a GPS or inreach/spot device, especially if you want to go alone. This is also a good time to come to grips with the falliblity of technology and get a paper map.
Step seven is for sleeping arrangements, which you seem to have covered. My rip is to set up sleeping stuff as soon as you get to where your making camp, so that way your bag has a chance to loft and your aren't fiddling with stuff sacks in the dark when your tired. And drunk if you're party camping. Open the sleeping bag before the tequila. Also a sleeping pad will protect your bag and also your joints so you don't wake up feeling like Rip van Winkle.
Have fun, be safe, don't be a dick and clean up after your self at your campsite. Sleeping in the dirt is a great time and I hope you enjoy your trip.
thank you so much!!!! i had a great trip but it wouldve been better if id followed your advice more carefully LMAO
#hope its ok im posting this i found it super helpful!!!!#save#sea-salted-wolverine#we did the hiking after camping overnight but i was Really feeling the powdered mix thing like Ah. so thats why#we could have used better lights too tbh#also Boy i underestimated the need for a good bedroll. the ground is COLD AS FUCK#ask#the temperature at this time of year was also slightly outside what my sleeping bag was rated for. and it turns out thats important LMAO

Long day
Steve x reader fic
Woo this took me way too long to right lmao but hereâs this, I might make a part 2 to this at some point, first Steve fic Iâve written but I have plenty of others in the works
Female reader, most of it is GN though just a few of the nicknames are fem but you could easily change them in your head, not completely proof read so apologise for any mistakes or bad writing lol
It had been a long day, and when you say 'a long day' you mean a really long fucking day. Luckily the day had finally came to an end and you were headed home, the rain was pouring down heavy, window wipers on full, you were about a half hour away from your house when suddenly all hell seemed to erupt from your engine, "no, no, no! don't do this to me now! wait until I'm home please!" you begged the car as if it would listen however it didn't and instead decided it had had enough and with one last sputter came to a halt. "fuck!" you groan and slump over resting your head against the steering wheel "can this day get any worse!?" you whine quietly to yourself
Youâre not sure how much time passes but the rain doesn't seem to be letting up anytime soon so you finally decide to give up on waiting, just as you're about to turn to your back seat to grab your jacket a flash of headlights catch your eye, you sigh and hope that who ever it was would stop and help you out, you also hoped that whoever it was it wasn't some creep. The mystery car must have spotted you as it pulled over just behind yours. you're preparing yourself for whatever was to come, when suddenly there's a knock at your window, as you're winding it down your face drops as you realise just who had stopped to come to your rescue, a shit eating grin had crossed his face once he had recognised you 'spoke to soon' you thought to yourself "need a lift?" he asked almost smug, you glare at the boy "from you? I think I'll pass" you scoffed He shook his head and let out a small chuckle in disbelief "come on, its pouring down and it doesn't look like this old thing is gonna get you home anytime soon, so what do you say little lady? not like you got any other options, I doubt that anyone else will be coming this way at this time of night and definitely not in this weather." you send another glare his way "first, don't ever call me that and second I'd rather get drenched and walk home than spend any time in your company" he lets out another chuckle and shakes his head "aw come on sweetheart I ain't that bad" a smirk grows on his face as you scoff "I'd beg to differ" a small moment passes and you sigh not actually wanting to get home drenched in rain "alright fine, you can take me home" you finally gave in, reluctantly taking the keys out of your ignition and grabbing a few things you needed out of the car before getting out and quickly running and getting into his.
Steve follows behind and gets into the drivers seat laughing to himself as he throws his umbrella into the back seat. "what?" you grumble and he turns to face you once he's put his seatbelt on "you, you say you'd rather walk and get drenched and yet as soon as you're out your car you go running to mine" he smirks and you roll your eyes " whatever Harrington, just drive, the quicker we get going the sooner this will be over" Steve shakes his head, starts the car and pulls away "sheesh, I'm just teasing, loosen up a little would ya?" "not in the mood Harrington, so for the love of god for the rest of this journey keep quiet" you huff as you turn to face out the window you leaned your arm against the door and place your head in you hand as you watched the rain fall. Steve didn't respond and the drive is quiet, well for the first five minutes anyway, he had been giving you quick glances from time to time thinking of the best way to break the silence. eventually he cleared his throat and spoke "so, what were you doing all the way out here at this time for anyway?" you let out a small groan "none of your business Harrington!" "alright, alright, geez was just tryna make some conversation" you scoffed âdidnât I literally tell you to keep quiet thoughâ thereâs a short silence that feels like it was hours where you realised you had been a bit snippyer than you shouldâve been you sigh before speaking up again âlook itâs just been a long day okay, I do not have the energy to deal with all your âStevenessâ okayâ steve rolled his eyes at that before smirking âoh please you love all my âstevenessâ as you call itâ âyeah just as much as I love dropping something heavy on my toesâ you rolled your eyes âyeah you keep telling yourself that, but come on really, whatâs got your panties all up in a twist?â You groan slightly âyouâre not gonna shut up until I tell you huh?â Steve smirks ânopeâ âfine, if you must know I found my so called boyfriend was cheating on me this morning, I got into a stupid fight with my mom, my brother seems to be avoiding me for some unknown reason then all night Iâve had to deal with asshole customer and now my car breaks down in the middle of nowhere in the pouring rain and now Iâm having to deal with you so there thatâs whatâs bothering me, happy now?â You let out a deep sigh and turn back to look out the window resting your head against your hand. âSheesh⊠that sounds like a lot⊠sorryâ. Those words shocked you to say the least, you never would have thought that THE Steve Harrington would feel bad for you never mind bad enough to apologise for something he didnât need to apologise for, it annoyed you a little âI donât need your pity Harrington, just get me homeâ Steve stayed silent after that not fully sure what to say which was unusual for him he noted.
The journey was filled mostly with silence with the faint sound of the radio on the background, Steve had been stealing quick glances at you not that you noticed too preoccupied with watching the trees pass. Steve deciding the silence was too unbearable cleared his throat before speaking âIâm sure heâs notâ your face contorts into confusion as you turn to him âwhat?â âDustin, Iâm sure heâs not avoiding you, at least not intentionallyâ âwhy makes you say that?â Steve letâs out a chuckle âbecause that kid adores you dude, he never shuts up about how cool you are and how youâre definitely the best older sibling out of the group, always says he wishes youâd hang out with the group more like you used toâ your face relaxes happy to hear that Dustin doesnât hate you but your heart sinks when you hear that he wishes you were around more, Steve notices the look on your face change âshit sorry I didnât⊠he fully understands that youâre busy with work and your own friends⊠he doesnât hold it against you or anything heâ you interrupt him âitâs fine Steve⊠you donât need toâŠâ you shake your head slightly knowing he was trying to make you feel a little better, you agreed that you were busy with work and with the people you called friends which if you really thought about it they werenât really your friends more your exsâ but that was no excuse for not hanging with your brother and his friends at all, you loved those kids as if they were all your siblings, you let out a small sigh âwhatâs worse is that those guys werenât really my friends, well I guess Iâll just have to make it up to Dustin and the partyâ you ran your hand through your hair in slight frustration, Steve gave you a soft understanding smile one that made your heart skip, what the hell was that? And what happened to Steve, this isnât the Steve you knew, he seemed different, you knew he had been babysitting the kids a lot lately which shocked you at first but let it go, then of course there was Dustin who almost always went on about Steve and how awesome he was now but you couldnât believe he had changed that much I mean, he was the biggest douche in school but there he was trying to make you feel better about the fact that you had basically ditched your brother and the party over some guy and his friends it was odd to say the least.
The car finally pulled into the Henderson household and you let out a slight sigh in relief which Steve heard and scoffed playfully âgeez Henderson at least try and pretend you donât hate meâ your eyes widened slightly ân-no thatâs notâŠIâm just glad to be home, IâŠâ wait why were you trying to explain yourself? It shouldnât matter what he thought but still a part of you didnât want him to think you really hated him, sure you thought he was a dick but hates a strong word and you didnât want him thinking that⊠why didnât you want him to think that? You shook your head slightly Steve grinned at you playfully and your stomach flipped as you saw it,you quickly shook the feeling âuhm thanks for the rideâ getting out of the car quickly and heading to your front door, Steve got out the car and leaned against it as he shouted your name, you turned looking at him in anticipation, Steve smiled âcanât wait to see you around moreâ he turned getting back into his car âoh and your boyfriend was an idiotâ he said before driving off leaving you slightly stunned, your heart fluttering, what the hell was that? You thought to yourself before entering your house.

Into the topaz the crystalline signals of Manhattan the nightplane lowers my body scintillate with longing to lie positive beside the electric waters of your flesh and I will never tell you the meaning of this poem: Just say, âShe wrote it and I recognize the reference.â Please let it go at that. Although it is all the willingness you lend the world as when you picked it up the garbage scattering the cool formalities of Madison Avenue after midnight (where we walked for miles as though we knew the woods well enough to ignore the darkness) although it is all the willingness you lend the world that makes me want to clean up everything in sight (myself included)
for your possible discovery
âPrimitive Eyesâ by Alejandra Pizarnik
Where fear neither speaks in stories or poems, nor gives shape to terrors or triumphs.
My name, my pronoun â a grey void.
Iâm familiar with the full range of fear. I know what itâs like to start singing and to set off slowly through the narrow mountain pass that leads back to the stranger in me, to my own emigrant.
I write to ward off fear and the clawing wind that lodges in my throat.
And in the morning, when you are afraid of finding yourself dead (of there being no more images): the silence of compression, the silence of existence itself. This is how the years fly by. This is how we lost that beautiful animal happiness.
âSummer Goodbyesâ by Alejandra Pizarnik
The soft rumor of spreading weeds. The sound of things ruined by the wind. They come to me as if I were the heart of all that exists. I would like to be dead, and also to go inside another heart.
âPostapocalyptic Heartbeatâ by Saeed Jones
I. Drugged, I dreamed you a plume of ash, great rush of wrecked air through the towns of my stupor. And when the ocean in your blood went toxic, I thought fire was what we needed: serrated light through the skin, grenade in the chestâpulled linchpin. I saw us breathing on the other side of after. But a blackout is not night; orange-bottled dreams are not sleep. II. I was a cross-legged boy in the third lifetime, empire of blocks in my lap while you walked through the door of your silence, hunting knife in one hand, flask in the other. I waited for you until I forgot to breathe, my want turning me colors only tongues of amaryllis could answer for. It owned me, that hunger, tendriled its way into my name for you. III. In a city made of rain each door, a silence; each lock, a mouth, I walked daily through the spit-slick streets, harbingers on my hands in henna: there will be no after Black-and-blue-garbed strangers, they called me Cassandra. (I had such a body then.) Umbrellas in hand, they listened while they unlistened. there will be no no. after
the world will end no.
you are the reason it no. ends
you no. IV. I didnât exactly mean to survive myself. Half this life Iâve spent falling out of fourth-story windows. Pigeons for hair, wind for feet. Sometimes I sing âStormy Weatherâ on the way down. Today, âStrange Fruit.â Each time, strangers find me drawing my own chalk outline on the sidewalk, cursing with a mouth full of iron, furious at my pulse. V. After ruin, after shards of glass like misplaced stars, after dredge, after the black bite of frost:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â you are the after, you are the first hour in a life without clocks; the name of whatever falls from the clouds now is you (it is not rain), a song in a dead language, an unlit earth, a coast brokenâ how was I to know every word was your name?
âComing Back from Seeing Your Peopleâ by Alice Walker
Coming back From seeing your people You were So wonderfully Full Of yourself.
But now You have supped With vampires They have fed Feasted On you.
They arise Bright-eyed Fit.
You alone have lost Not only Your sleep But also Your glow The luster of Affection Heart welcome Your people Sent home With you.
Beloved You must learn To walk alone To hold The precious Silence To bring home And keep the precious Little That is left Of yourself.
âEdward the Confessorâ by Eileen Myles
I have a confession to make I wish there were some role in society I could fulfill I could be a confessor I have a confession to make I have this way when I step into the bakery on 2nd Ave. of wanting to be the only really nice person in the store so the harried sales woman with several toned hair will like me. I do this in all kinds of stores, coffee shops xerox shops, everywhere I go. And invariably I leave my keys, xeroxing, my coffee from the last place I am being so nice. I try so hard to make a great impression on these neutral strangers right down to the perfect warm smile I get entirely lost and stagger back out onto the street, bereft of something major. Itâs really leaning too hard on the everyday. My mother was the kind of woman who dragging us into stores always seemed to charm the pants off the cashier. She was such a great person, so human though at home she was such a bitch, I mean really distant. I imitate her and I donât do it well. She didnât leave her wallet or us in a store. Iâm just a pale imitation it is simply not my style to open the hearts of strangers to my true personhood. I hope you accept this tiny confession of what I am currently going through. And if you are experiencing something of a similar nature tell someone, not me, but tell someone. Itâs the new human program to be in. It would be nice for at least these final moments if we could sigh with the relief of being in the same program with all the other humans whispering in school. I canât quite locate the terror, but I am trying to be my mother or Edward the Confessor smiling down on you with up-praying hands. I am looking down at the tips of my boots as I step across the balcony of the church excited to be allowed to say these things. Outside my church is a relationship. On 11th street this guy and this woman are selling the woman so they can get more dope. All their things are there, rags and loaves of bread and make-up. And there wasâ this was incredible. Two men lying by the door of the church giving each other blow-jobs. They were sort of street guys, one black one white. I said hey you canât do that here. They jumped up, one spit come out of his mouth. If you donât get out of here Iâll call the cops. Donât call the cops weâll go, weâll leave. That was a shock. That was more than I expected to see in a day. Something about seeing the guy spit come out of his mouth. He didnât have to do that. I guess I scared him. I couldnât believe my eyes. I was scared too.

TRICKS OF LIFE â STEVE HARRINGTON
đđĄđđ©đđđ« đŻ. â đđ«đšđŠđąđŹđ? Overview: Y/N tells Mike information to help their lost friend, she also heads to the search party for Will with Victor. As they explore, the past unravels and there is an odd occurrence that happens. Navigation & Mixtape
Tag: @samiyamuntaha @thepowerstoner @ughgclden @mqyfield @cooperdaysgf
âSo right by Mirkwood right?â Mike Wheelerâs voice peeped after listening to Y/Nâs remark of details about what she heard at the Hawkins Police Department a few hours ago. It was around 7 pm, right around to where the girl was getting ready prone to the search party being held with a few of the residents of the town.
Y/N hummed a positive response to clearing out his doubts just in case he was confused by any means, this wasnât going to help Mike, it was going to help Will get a faster chance to be retrieved to his home again.
Although Hopper disapproved the request of letting young people in the search, Y/N and Victor were eventually allowed to come along, âYeah, but remember you have to be somewhat far from the real search group okay? We donât want you to get caught.â
âMike! What are you doing?â Nancyâs faint voice was caught on the other line of the phone, leading Mike to leave the phone out, Y/N overhearing them argue over the dumbest things.
Prior to the noises of Mike pushing Nancy out of the basement she guessed, the boy came back on the line, sighing loudly, âSorry about that, Nancy gets so annoying, I still donât know why you still hang out with her.â
âShe could be a priss sometimes,â She responds, breathily giggling, clenching the ceramic telephone tighter, âBut sheâs still my friend if you could say.â
Continuing with their conversation based on the plan, it was perfectly assembled, safe with a high possibility of finding Will, even if it had been a day. Will couldnât have gone far anyways. Y/N was about to speak, but was suddenly caught off guard as soon as she heard her dad in the hallway, getting prepared for the search.
âOh shit! I have to go now,â Y/N hushed in a subtle tone, trying her best to keep away Hopper from listening to their discussion, âRemember to be home by 9 at least with flashlights. Stay safe Mike.â
The line went awfully silent, placing back the phone to its regular position on the handset, while it being attached to the wall. Rapidly, spinning to look at her father, trying to act as normal as possible, his brows furrowed at her.
âWhat were you doing?â
Shrugging it off calmly, Y/N breathily giggles while she put her hands on her hips saying, âI was just checking in with Victor, thatâs all.â
Hopperâs eyes widened at her point, clicking his tongue as he started grabbing on his sweater for the frosty night ahead, âFunny, but I just called his mom to let him know that he was coming.â
âRight..â Y/N casually crossed her arms, cursing under her breath before she showed any subtle reaction to what she was up to. Play it cool.
In the silence of her looking around the messy home by the front door, Hopper sharply whistles while slinging the car keys in the air to catch them, making Y/N follow right behind me, pretending as if the few minutes didnât occur. Feeling the breeze of the autumn air, both the relatives made their way to the vehicle, on their way to the small yet important search for this boy, Will Byers.
As the road got narrower and narrower, the car drove deeper into the dark woods, where Y/N could see the slender trees and branches surrounding them. The starry sky lit up the place with a soft tone of dim blues and grays painted across it on the chilly night. Watching out the window, Y/N squinted her eyes to see a figure from afar waving towards the vehicle, a familiar figure to be Victor. Hopper drove nearer, the headlights being able to guide him to the stop where a small crowd of people were surrounding along with the patrols.
Hopper cleared his throat, while he pushed the breaks down and turned to his daughter, âHey kid, remember donât be-â
Without hesitation, Y/N swung the car door open to step out of it, hustled her way to her so called âacquaintanceâ, Victor. It was more like a friend but she didnât want to be that close with the boy. Victor wearily smiling at her.
âYou seem tired,â Y/N creeps up next to him, watching the small groups of people around the mounds of dead leaves and twigs gathered for the search.
Victorâs voice brings the girlâs attention back to him, he clears his throat, âI mean dealing with Flo is already a lot for me to handle, so I suppose I am.â The two silently chuckled, the frost getting to their noses, âI heard thereâs gonna be a chance of rain.â
âReally?â
âYes really! Havenât you seen the forecast? Iâm even wearing a jacket!â Victor squinted his eyes, his eyewear raising up on the bridge of his nose and the girl shrugged aimlessly.
Y/N scoffed, shoving him slightly, âI think thereâs way more important things we need to focus on instead of the weather.â
From afar, Hopper and the policemen indicated all the volunteers to gather around on the sidewalk, near the entrance of the forest. The flashing blue and red lights were turned off from the cars, everyone else preparing for the upcoming search.
âOkay guys!â The chief shouted to direct everyone, âWe need to stay in the 5 mile radius from where Will was last scene! Everyone please be careful and remember to blow the whistle if you find anything at all!â
Heads were nodded, agreeing to the directions, Officers Powell and Callahan guided two separate groups from different directions, Y/N having to come along with the third group including her dad. Although the girl was 16, her father wanted to take the best care for her, after Sarah. He wanted to keep her as close as possible, but he knew she was getting older. It was just for today, he can protect her for today, now being aware of a kid disappearing in their town. Maybe one of them was next.
âI guess thatâs your call genius,â Y/N told Victor as she pointed towards Powellâs group who were walking to the right side of the woods, the people disappearing one by one into the darkness.
Not budging at all, Victor stood his ground saying, âI think Iâll stick with you for now, thereâs just soccer moms hoarding the group for Powell, he has a fan club.â
âYouâre not wrong Vic,â She sniggered quietly but failed miserably, letting out a subtle loud laugh, both of the teenagers walking behind their group, down a steep hill leading to the inner nature.
Rushing down first to the bottom, the tall brunette reached his hand out for Y/N who was still at the top, to help her come down to his level, âMâlady?â
âWhy thank you, what a gentleman!â Y/N sarcastically gasps, gripping onto his hand to steady herself below, after they jogged closer to the group, flicking their flashlights on to carry on.
Everyone glanced above the branches, the moon shining as the crickets chirped. The crisp wind running across their faces, making the trees shuffle loudly. As flashlights led them with its brightness, they all searched and searched, for any trace of the boy around the area.
Half an hour later, the air became cooler than usual, almost bringing a frostbite to their bare hands. The sound of branches and dead leaves crunching over the few people above them. In the silence, Y/N stayed near Victor and her father, hearing shouts for Will. The realization hit the girl, they were looking for lost Will, Will hasnât appeared, he was probably in some sort of danger. She fastened her grip on the flashlight, looking around more closely, along with the rest.
âHeâs a good student,â Someone decides to break the silence of the leaves and twigs crunching under their feet, Victor and Y/N turned their attention to him as they strolled in the woods.
Hopper cocks an eyebrow up and looks towards the teacherâs direction after the statement, âWhat?â
âWill. Heâs a good student. Great one actually,â He elaborates, smiling sheepishly to lend his hand in front of the chief to introduce himself, âI donât think weâve met, Scott Clarke. Teacher, Hawkins Middle. Earth and biology.â
âDonât you remember he was my teacher back in the day?â
Victor nods agreeing with Y/Nâs statement from behind, Hopper reluctantly trying to remember his daughterâs middle school teacher, still not recalling since in those past years where fighting for Y/Nâs custody between the parents, âI always had a distaste for science.â
âWell maybe you had a bad teacher,â Mr. Clarke remarks, checking if his flashlight was still operating, trudging closer to the group of three ahead of him.
âYeah, Ms. Ratliff was a piece of work,â Hopper scoffs jokingly, Y/N doing the same as well, remembering his shitty science teacher from his past years while he studied at Hawkins High.
âRatliff?â The teacher ponders, realizing that the same teacher still resides in Hawkins after all these years, âYou bet. Sheâs still kicking around believe it or not.â
Victor elaborates in between them, sliding his hands onto his pockets, âI had her when I was in eighth grade a few years back.â
âOh I believe it Victor. Mummies never die, so they tell me,â Hopper smiles, trying to get his daughter to notice but she dozed off beyond the sight of the woods, âSarah, my youngest, galaxies, the universe whatnot.. She always understood all that stuff. I always figured there was enough going down here, I never needed to look elsewhere.â
Y/N flickered her eyes towards her fatherâs direction after hearing the special name, it wasnât so special to one, but to her, it was. Sarah, Sarah Hopper her little sister, but soon enough the teacher interrupted, âMaybe Iâll get her in my class I-â
âNo, she uh.. she lives with her mom in the city,â He cuts the man off from his statement, Victor widening his eyes on Y/Nâs side, knowing fully that wasnât true.
The girl beside the tall boy looked back at his dark eyes, signaling him to be quiet, Y/N was aware of the fact that everyone in Hawkins knew Sarahâs death. Just because of her own blabbermouth, Steve told everyone including the parents her little secret the young female confessed to.
As much as her dad still wants to deny the fact the little one was gone and resting in peace, staying of his delusion Y/N wished she could have. It was a promise. A promise that everything was okay and there wasnât nothing to worry about, almost some sort of fairy tale where everything had its happy endings with a happy family which wasnât it.
âThanks for coming out, Teach. We really appreciate it.â Hopper clears the air, trudging past them farther into the dark eerie woods, Y/N and Victor repeating his steps behind him.
Once they were  out of the picture and range from hearing, a middle aged woman spoke up next to the teacher, in a hushed tone saying, âShe died a few years back.â
âSorry?â Mr. Clarke shifted his head in bewilderment towards the lady for any clarification from the inadequate statement given.
âHis kid.â
The teacherâs eyes widened, observing the two family members mumbling inaudible words behind the brisk trees of the cool night. He didnât know the Hoppers hid their family, they never talked much about family when it came to projects when Y/N was younger. It seemed like something ever so private not like where many kids shared experiences with their loved ones, they always kept everything about their family closed up. Almost a mystery.
Y/N could hear the soft mumbles of the quiet conversation being exchanged by the lady and her former teacher, she felt sick knowing that her father stays in the delusion of her sister being alive, lying. Lying wasnât so hard for her, Y/N was almost a professional at it when it came to helping the party in situations. But lying to her dad was different, it was the both of them against the horrid place called the world.
âIs Sarah going to be back?â A small girl walked over to the grown adults who stood at the front door, puffy eyes showing on their faces, as they held a plastic wristband and stuffed tiger after a long day from not seeing her sister. It was already near midnight.
Without any move, the woman, who to be seen was the girlâs mother, bursted into tears, her husband catching her into his arms. The youngling worriedly watched her parents shed tears, a middle aged woman got up from the couch to comfort both of them. Whispers and mumbles being shared between the adults, bringing more tears.
âMommy?â The girl steadily crept next to her momâs leg, wrapping her short arms around her waist, pressing her cheek against the womanâs body, âDonât cry, Iâm here.â
Sobs were still heard from the mother, the two of the women held each other tightly while the tall man let go from their hug, kneeling next to the girlâs level, âY/N, kid-â
âDad, whereâs Sarah?!â Y/N shakily shouted, her stomach feeling uneasy, with her sister not being found. What happened to Sarah? She knew Sarah was going to get better. Why was mom crying? So many questions filled her head, eyes welling up, her father hugging her tightly with all the hurt and love. Y/N noticed the wristband that her father was holding, she peered closely to see a sloppy handwriting shown as the name Sarah, written all over it with the date when she was sent to the hospital.
âSarah is... gone.â
The littleâs watery eyes widened, her bottom lip trembling, she threw her arms around her father, her head leaning onto his shoulder. Her little sister was gone, she was alone now, her heart crumbling into a million pieces. Sarah, Sarah wasnât here anymore. But it seemed so surreal, it was only yesterday the two sisters laughed about one of the nurses dropping her cup of coffee while getting chemotherapy.
âDad.. Can she come back?â
Sadly grinning, Hopper wiped the girlâs chubby face from her tears, shaking his head, âIâm sorry kid, sheâs not coming back.â
âBut she has to! Sarah has to come home with us,â Y/N choked in her tears, her eyes becoming swollen, grabbing the wristband from her fatherâs large hand, âSarah canât leave me alone here. She promised she would stay.â
âY/N, I know this is difficult but your sister left us. Sheâs in a better place now.â
Making her cry even more, Y/Nâs mother rapidly kneeled next to her husband and daughter, she sniffed, grabbing onto her daughter, âWe promised Sarah we would love each other and always stay safe. Forever.â
âPromise?â
Both of the girlâs parents joined in for a tight hug, Y/N fastening her arms around the two others, âPromise. We promise you sweet pea.â
âY/N! Y/N!â A familiar voice boasted in the ears of Y/N, she focused her attention back to the voice. There was no one beside her by the time she looked around, it was the sounds of the wind and her alone. Her flashlight flickered in her hands, she shook it vigorously to try and turn it back on, but there was nothing coming out of it, just a dimly lit tone guiding her way. Nothing else in her sight except for the trees and moonlight, she tried her best to not overthink this and make her way back to the group.
Every turn she made in the paths, it led her to nowhere, noises filled the aura. Slowly, she began to worry, she wasnât coming back to the group. Y/Nâs head filled itself with thoughts, there was no way she could be lost, last time she was with Victor, rambling about the weather. Where was she? Looking up, she felt small droplets of water dripped onto her face above, Y/N squinted her eyes to avoid the drizzle. The water fell down slowly until it started raining heavier in the air, she wiped her face to dry it off and continue to try to find her way back.
âDad!â Y/N shouted, wrapping her arms over herself, her hair becoming soaked along the time. She kept shouting and shouting, worry filling her in. The girl was afraid. What if she went missing like Will? Oh no.
Without a precaution, a branch from behind was heard. Y/N whipped her head to the direction, seeing a small human with a white gown rapidly run off to opposite direction, the rain blurring her eyes. Was that Will? Curious, she picked up speed to follow the boy, it may be Will. A chance of relief rushing in as her adrenaline sped up, almost running faster. âWill! Itâs me!â
The boy didnât stop, sprinting faster with his bare feet. Y/N still yelled, slowing her pace down, then picking it back up, going through the trees. An idea came to her, tugging at her metal whistle to her lips, blowing on it. The sound coming off it, maybe attracting people to find her and the boy, it has to be Will. Using her arms to run faster, she suddenly trips over a thick log after not seeing below her because of the wind, sending her to the floor. She whimpers as she felt her ankle burn in a pain, whistling even more.
From the distance, few people to what she could tell came forward to her, rain soaking over her head. Thunder being heard far away, Victor came into the picture to kneel down next to Y/N.
âHey are you okay?â He worriedly checks on her, receiving a nod. Victor looked around for any possible wounds since he found her on the ground, âWe couldnât find you!â
Y/N hardly paid attention to him and looked afar to see if the boy would turn up again. She held Victorâs jacket to pull him closer, âI think I saw Will! He was running through there I-â
âChief Hopper coming through, excuse me,â A voice from the crowd of people called in, Hopper bringing himself forward to find his soaking daughter on the ground pointing toward another direction. âWhatâs wrong?â
Victor moves to tell Hopper while being next to shaking and wet Y/N, âShe saw Will.â

Sounds of bliss (Euphoria) | JJK
Pairing: Jungkook x Reader
Genre: Fluff
Rating: PG
Summary: A surprise awaits Jungkook when he gets back from work one evening.
Warnings: None :) , Just a load of fluff filled in thousand words.
Word count: 1.48k
A/N: I feel like the drabble title has nothing to do with the story lol. Iâm gonna let be anyway haha. It sounds good ^_~Â
Also, Iâm too bad at writing summaries/ synopsis. So you have to forgive me for that too hehe
Outside, the rain pitter patters. Droplets run down all surfaces possible, drenching the land and cooling the atmosphere. The smell of soil sweeps the entirety of the neighborhood. The weather wraps everyone in a nostalgic embrace.Â
Lo-fi music filters through the speakers you bought for your boyfriend's last birthday. Sizzling sounds of your cooking intermingling with it. It brings a comforting ambience along and blankets you in its warmth.
Amongst them comes the intrusive sound of the front door being opened. The pattering of tiny paws on the floor joins in.
"Gureum-ah" you hear Jungkook coo. And the dog softly yaps at him as if replying to its name being called. You can imagine him bending down and petting over its off-white fur, eyes almost closed at how bright he smiles. You hear the keys being placed on the counter at the entrance and his shoes being shoved off haphazardly.
"Sweetheart!" He calls out for you, walking in further with Gureum leading him to where you are.
"In the kitchen, koo!" You reply, strong arms - one tatted and the other not - then winding around you the very next second.
âHiâ he whispers, pressing soft kisses down your neck. His cold and wet fingers sneak under your shirt making you shiver at the contact. Jungkook then tilts your head back, getting you to look at him and then sweeps your lips in for a gentle kiss.Â
He tastes of peppermint, as if he had just popped one of those mouth refreshening candies in his mouth not too long ago. You want to keep going, kiss him until his hair is a mess and lips plump and ruined. But the sound of the food sizzling in front of you keeps you aware of the surroundings. You gently pull away with a final peck and his eyes and lips chase after you.Â
The sight of him has your heart hurting in adoration, the temptation to squeeze him so tight too strong. You smile wide, bringing your hand up to his hair and shaking away the water droplets that settle on his bangs.Â
âGo freshen up, baby. Iâll be done with this soon.â you say, getting back to giving your food a final mix with your boyfriend still clinging on. It takes a lot of ushering - and a lot of kisses peppered all over his face - to send him upstairs to your bedroom.Â
Your heart thumps hard, the weight of the secret sitting heavy on your chest. You have to tell him. As soon as you can. You were hoping you wouldn't chicken out once again.
You don't doubt his love for you. Nor do you doubt your love for him. But maybe just maybe, this step was taking too far. What if he thought this commitment was not for him? That he was far too young to be tied down like this even if he loved you? What if he isn't sure he loves you as much anymore?
Now you know you're taking it a bit too far. Of course he loves you. Time and time again, heâs proven it to you with his actions and kind words. The past five years have been the happiest times of your life. Heavy tears gather at your waterline, fogging up your vision. You take a deep breath in and exhale. You sniffle your worries in. Now wasnât the time to be lost in your head. Because if you did, you know you wouldnât escape from the clutches of your thoughts. And your boyfriend is always going to be first. You cannot keep his stomach empty for long. Not when keeping him and his body nourished is your love language.
You begin plating his favorite food - gathering a little extra than you usually would serve him - and pour him some wine and bring the contents to the dining table. You light up the mild scented candles that sit on the table and dim the lights in the room just a bit. The Lo-fi continues playing as you sit there and wait for Jungkook. You want him to at least feel cozy when you finally break the news to him.Â
Just as you are done setting up the dining space, Jungkook walks in. His wet hair falling over his sparkling eyes and lips stretched wide in a smile.
âWhat is this for? Am I forgetting an important date?â his excitement slowly starts slipping away as remorse takes its place.
âNo you arenât. I just wanted to treat my special boy for his hard work.â you smile, waving at him to come sit with you. He blushes hard when you call him your boy - a special one at that - and settles in the chair in front of you.
The food on his plate clears up pretty soon, so does the wine. Jungkook chats his way through dinner. Talking about his friends, his family, the mental support dog at his office. He talks about it all.Â
Once a peaceful silence settles over the two of you, you excuse yourself, telling him to wait for the dessert. And when you return, it is with a cake. Decorated with light purple frosting and edible silver balls sprinkled on top.Â
âOh man, I sure am feeling special.â Jungkook laughs. His legs bounce impatiently under the table, hands fidgeting. His excitement puts a permanent smile on your face. You cut him a piece and feed it to him, hoping it wasnât going to be the last time youâd have him like this. A few more bites later he tells you he can feed himself and that he wants you to eat with him. You wave him off saying that if you have dinner at this time, youâd once again feel hungry by 2 am.
With a deep breathe, you finally prepare yourself for what was to be done. You grab the small bag that you kept by the foot of your chair, Jungkook is looking at you with wide eyes when you hand it to him.
âAre you sure I havenât forgotten an important occasion?â
âYes silly, now open it.â You laugh. You might be mildly worried about what he thinks but youâre also happy. You know youâve got nothing to be nervous about when youâve got an angel of a boyfriend.
He pulls the colored tissues that are stuffed at the top, giggling when the last one is out. Next he pulls out a card.Â
âHappy Fatherâs Dayâ , it says in a pretty cursive font.
âIs this for our dads? Do you want me to send it to them?â he enquires, eyes roving over and taking in the aesthetics of the card.
âTheyâre for you.â you reply softly.
Jungkook whips his head up, a glint of something in his eyes. You recognize it as something you saw in your own after the pregnancy tests showed the two blue lines. His eyes turns misty as he turns back to take out the items in the bag.Â
His eyes grow glossier when he finds tiny purple socks. He finally loses it and lets out the first sob when he takes out the onesie with the picture of a cartoon bunny on the front. He comes around the table, pulling you off the chair and into his arms.
His sniffles are muffled against the skin of your neck, one hand slipping under your shirt to caress your stomach. You struggle hard to blink back your tears this time but they streak down your cheeks anyway.
âHow long have you known? How far in are you? Should I book us an appointment with a doctor?" he shoots, lifting his face off the crook of your neck. You laugh wetly, so endeared by the man in front of you.
âYouâre rambling again.â
âIâm going to be a father.â he whispers with eyes wide open and lips trembly. His nose is so red, you have to bite your lips to physically stop yourself from teasing him and calling him âRudolfâ.
âYou are.â you say, pressing a kiss on the tip of his nose. You twist your arms around his waist, holding him impossibly closer.
âIâm about a month and a half in. Iâve known for a week now.â you press another kiss on his nose. Jungkook scrunches his nose like he always does.Â
âWhen should we tell the others?â his eyes glimmer as he hears you says this.
The two of you stay cuddled up on the couch and make phone calls after phone calls to let your close friends and family know of your good news. The elation in their voices (and faces of the ones you had video calls with) fills your own with the same.Â
A few weeks later you get to hear the heartbeat of the little one. As you watch Jungkook hold his breath and listen to the tiny sounds filling the room, you feel it spread further in your chest.Â
The feeling of pure bliss.

IDOLiSH7 6th Anniversary Special Story: Full of Heart...
Chapter 6: Wishing
Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3 | Chapter 4 | Chapter 5
Sogo Osaka: Tsunashi-san, thank you for bringing us to this limited edition Rabitty-kun shop.
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: It's no trouble at all, really! I never got to play with a Rabitty-kun, myself.
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: I was planning to come check this place out for the show anyway, so I'm glad you two could tag along.
Tamaki Yotsuba: Thanks for sending us the photo from when you were little, too! Me and So-chan were super hyped about it!
Sogo Osaka: Tamaki-kun..!
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: Ahaha! It's a little embarrassing, considering what a country bumpkin I must've looked like.
Tamaki Yotsuba: You looked cute standing on the beach, almost like a girl.
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: Huh..!? Nobody's ever told me that before! I've always been tall for my age...
Tamaki Yotsuba: Okay, maybe not like a girl, but your arms and body were all skinny and stuff. What do you call that again? Slendy...
Sogo Osaka: Slender.
Tamaki Yotsuba: Yeah, that. You had the same face, but you weren't all buff.
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: Oh, okay! I didn't know that's how I looked... What did you think, Sogo-kun?
Sogo Osaka: Um... How should I put this...
Sogo Osaka: It... It was more than I could bear.
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: .........
Tamaki Yotsuba: So-chan, you sound like a creepy old man!
Sogo Osaka: No, I didn't mean it in a weird way! I've juat never had a taste of such a different type of Tsunashi-san..!
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: Taste...
Sogo Osaka: Uh... Maybe "taste" isn't the right word for it, but it was very satisfying to see..!
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: Satisfying...
Tamaki Yotsuba: So-chan, you gotta stop it with the big explanations and be more casual! Call it cute, or nice, or something!
Sogo Osaka: Nice! It was nice! Very nice!
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: Ahaha! Thank you!
TV on Shop Window: ...The secret to Rabitty-kun's birth!
TV on Shop Window: Who would've thought our famous mascot had such a story behind him!?
TV on Shop Window: Look forward to our 6th Anniversary Rabitty-kun! Toi toi toi~âȘ
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: Ah, here it is.
Tamaki Yotsuba: Wow! They've got Rabitty-kuns in all kinds of colors! I wanna go touch them!
Sogo Osaka: Tamaki-kun, you must ask the clerks for permission first...
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: It looks like these are samples. Go ahead and touch them.
Tamaki Yotsuba: I'll go with this one first...
Red Rabitty: Ooh, ooh! Hold me!
Tamaki Yotsuba: Whoa! It's so cute!
Orange Rabitty: Ooh, ooh! Pet me!Â
Hot Pink Rabitty: Ooh, ooh! Yawn... Letâs go to bed!Â
Sogo Osaka: You're right... They're really cute.
Grey Rabitty: Ooh ooh! Tyt ty tyt ty ty âȘ
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: Ah, this one seems to be singing something!
Tamaki Yotsuba: Wow! Where do you push to make it sing? Is it here?
Turquoise Rabitty: Ooh, ooh! That tickles!
Sogo Osaka: Maybe it's here?
Yellow Rabitty: Ooh, ooh! Dum dum dum dee dum âȘ
Tamaki Yotsuba: Ah, it danced! So-chan, let go of it! It's trying to dance!
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: I'll make this one dance with it!
Dark Red Rabitty: Ooh, ooh! Chaka chaka chan chan âȘ
Tamaki Yotsuba: Awesome! This is so much fun!
Sogo Osaka: They're so energetic.
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: I think you're supposed to feed these carrots to them? Go on, Tamaki-kun, give it a try.
Tamaki Yotsuba: Okay! I'm gonna give one to this guy...
Green Rabitty: Ooh, ooh! Nom... nom... nom... Yummy~!
Tamaki Yotsuba: It ate! What about this one?
Rosy Brown Rabitty: Ooh, ooh! Chomp, chomp, chomp! I want more!
Tamaki Yotsuba: Ahaha! This one eats a lot!
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: Hmm..? Look, they have a guide to exchanging defective toys.
Sogo Osaka: There were malfunctioning toys mixed in with the ones they released a few years ago. It says they'll exchange those for working ones, free of charge...
Sogo Osaka: Maybe these samples are the defective toys... But how exactly are they malfunctioning..?
Navy Rabitty: Ooh... ooh... Help.. me...
Tamaki Yotsuba: Holy crap!!! Why's this one so creepy..!?
Pink Rabitty: Oh, ooh... Don't... leave me...
Ivory Rabitty: Oh, ooh... You... saw..?
Pale Green Rabitty: Oh, ooh... Ehehehe... Eehehehehe...
Sogo Osaka: These ones are definitely defective..!
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: They're awful..! Why would anyone make them like this..? The poor kids who had these must've been terrified...
Tamaki Yotsuba: Yeah, seriously! If I had to sleep with one of these, my mattress would be all soggy the next morning! Â
Sogo Osaka: You'd wet the bed?
Tamaki Yotsuba: So what if I would!? And I don't mean right now, I mean if I was still little!
Sogo Osaka: If you were little, then it's not something you could control much, anyway...
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: Ah, why don't we take a break from these Rabitty-kuns, and go look at those ones instead?
Tamaki Yotsuba: What..? "Face three Rabitty-kuns against each other, and they'll go into gossipy teenage girl mode".
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: "Gossipy teenage girl mode"..?
Lavender Rabitty: Oh. Em. Gee. I think my nail just broke.
Light Blue Rabitty: It's gonna be 36 degrees today. Lame af.
Ocean Blue Rabitty: I'm like, low key freaking out about this test tho.
Sogo Osaka: ......... I guess they don't do the "ooh, ooh" thing in this mode.
Tamaki Yotsuba: So-chan, they've got an "office workers in an elevator" mode, too.
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: Apparently they have a Showa-era small talk version as an extra rare option, too.
Sogo Osaka: Do children really play with modes like this..?
[Phone rings]
Tamaki Yotsuba: Yukirin's calling me... Hello!
Tamaki Yotsuba: Huh? Seriously!? You guys found the uncle who took my picture already!?
Sogo Osaka: What!?
Tamaki Yotsuba: I knew that legendary detective could help..! Okay! Thanks!!!
Tamaki Yotsuba: Guess what! They said they found the guy!
Sogo Osaka: That's great, Tamaki-kun!
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: What business did you have with a legendary detective?
Tamaki Yotsuba: I need a photo from when I was little, so I was looking for this uncle who took a family portrait of us.
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: Oh, I see...
Tamaki Yotsuba: Awesome! Now I get to show off my picture, too!
Sogo Osaka: I'm happy for you.
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: Let's take another picture you can show off. I want one of the face you're making right now.
Tamaki Yotsuba: Right now?
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: Yeah. Your smile is so nice, I want us to have something to remember it by. Come on.
Tamaki Yotsuba: Ehehe... This is a little embarrassing, but I'm still super happy! Thanks, Ryu-aniki!
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: Thank you, too!
Tamaki Yotsuba: Ah... So-chan, wanna be in the pic?
Sogo Osaka: Me?
Tamaki Yotsuba: You found your photo, too. We can both show Ryu-aniki how proud we are. Right, Ryu-aniki?
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: Of course! I'd love for you to be in the picture too, Sogo-kun.
Sogo Osaka: A-alright.
Tamaki Yotsuba: Hurry up!
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: Stand next to each other. Laugh on three. One, two, three...
MEZZO": Ahahaha!
[Snap]
- - - -
Sogo Osaka: I'm glad your family photo will be found soon.
Tamaki Yotsuba: Me too.
Sogo Osaka: I'm sure Aya-chan would be happy about it.
Tamaki Yotsuba: Yeah. I'm glad you'll get you and your uncle's photo, too.
Tamaki Yotsuba: Is it gonna make it to the show, though?
Sogo Osaka: It will. I'm flying to pick it up at our nearest yacht harbor tonight.
Tamaki Yotsuba: Tonight? You gonna be okay?
Sogo Osaka: I'll be fine. I have tomorrow off, anyway.
Tamaki Yotsuba: Apparently my pic's coming in the mail. Ah...
[Rainfall]
Tamaki Yotsuba: It's raining.
Sogo Osaka: ...Not to mention the wind is really strong all of a sudden.
Tamaki Yotsuba: Can your plane leave in this weather?
Sogo Osaka: I... I think so. But I should hurry to the airport, and you need to get back to the dorm...
[Thunder]
MEZZO": Ah...
MEZZO": ...A blackout..?
- - - -Â
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: I'm home. And completely soaked.
Kaoru Anesagi: Here's a towel. Take off your socks, shirt, and pants. There's a hot bath waiting for you.
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: You're here too, Anesagi-san?
Gaku Yaotome: There was a power outage until just a minute ago. Apparently some parts of Tokyo are still dark.
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: What!? That sounds bad.
Gaku Yaotome: It's not the only bad thing here. Your bath's a little too hot...
Tenn Kujo: Hot as in, practically boiling. Want to go take a dip?
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: Thanks.
Tenn Kujo: What is that?
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: Ah... They're gifts for you and Gaku. I thought the Rabitty-kuns were too cute not to buy any.
Gaku Yaotome: Ahaha! Fair enough!
Tenn Kujo: I'm getting all nostalgic.
Ocean Blue Rabitty: Ooh, ooh! Hold me!
Kaoru Anesagi: Gosh, how adorable. I'll take care of you, little one. Come here.
Ocean Blue Rabitty: Ooh, ooh! Rat tat rat tat âȘ
Kaoru Anesagi: Heh, it's singing.
Kaoru Anesagi: Hey. Does any one of you know why Rabitty-kun says "ooh, ooh"?
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: I don't Is there some bigger reason for it?
Kaoru Anesagi: Apparently it's based on a child's imitation of a famous sweets mascot.
Kaoru Anesagi: Which one was it, again? The one with a crown, a closed mouth, and an overall neutral expression...
Tenn Kujo: A crown..? Doesn't ring a bell.
Kaoru Anesagi: It's right on the tip of my tongue, I swear. It's still around, too, and you see it everywhere. It's also got a ribbon, I think...
Gaku Yaotome: Mascots with ribbons are a dime a dozen.
Kaoru Anesagi: Sometimes flames come out of its back, and it punches things. Sometimes it gets so emotional, it starts spinning fast. Ugh. I can picture it in my mind, but I just can't remember the name.
Kaoru Anesagi: In any case, it's something that originates from before the CEO of Toi Toi Toi was making the kind of profit he is today.
Kaoru Anesagi: He tried to turn his parents' business into a toy shop, but he just couldn't make it succeed.
Kaoru Anesagi: Apparently that's when he saw one of the neighborhood kids mimic the mascot I was talking about.
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: And that kid was the basis for Rabitty-kun?
Kaoru Anesagi: Yep.
Kaoru Anesagi: Apparently the kid said something along the lines of "His mouth is closed, so he probably talks like, 'ooh, ooh'!"
Kaoru Anesagi: Then the kid would start dancing while singing "ooh, ooh", and that was the blueprint for Rabitty-kun.
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: Wow..! I think it's really nice that Rabitty-kun was technically born out of a child's idea.
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: I'm sure the CEO must really like kids, too.
Kaoru Anesagi: From what I heard, he's had a rough life. He was separated from his sibling, and when they reunited, he had to fight the reason for their separation...
Gaku Yaotome: Fight..? I can't even imagine what that might entail.
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: Everyone has something going on.
Tenn Kujo: How did he and his sibling reunite?
Kaoru Anesagi: Their parents were photographers, and they both just so happened to have a photo that proved their relation.
Gaku Yaotome: Maybe they kept each other's faces in a locket or something.
Tenn Kujo: There's no way it'd be something that cliché.
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: Still, I'm sure they were happy to see each other again.
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: Those two should be happily walking home right about now, too. Â
- - - -
Tamaki Yotsuba: So-chan, wait up!
Sogo Osaka: I need to hurry to the airport. If the weather gets any worse than this, all flights might be cancelled.
Tamaki Yotsuba: There's a blackout, and you're soaking wet! What if you can't get home, and you catch a cold!?
Sogo Osaka: You can go home if you want...
Tamaki Yotsuba: Why are you always like this!? I swear, you haven't changed at all!
Sogo Osaka: .........
Tamaki Yotsuba: You seriously can't even ask me to come with you!? Grow a backbone already!
Sogo Osaka: ......... That's not why.
Tamaki Yotsuba: Then what is it!?
Sogo Osaka: It's not that I'm afraid of causing you trouble. I want to prove something to you.
Tamaki Yotsuba: Prove what..?
Sogo Osaka: We may not have had the best lives, but we haven't done much bad, either.
Sogo Osaka: So... This isn't a punishment.Â
Tamaki Yotsuba: ...So-chan...
Sogo Osaka: I'll go, Tamaki-kun. And once I'm back, I'll show off my picture, and you'll get to see what my uncle looked like.
Sogo Osaka: I'm... I'm going to treat this as an adventure. And I'm going to ward off any disasters.
Sogo Osaka: Because I learned that from you.
Tamaki Yotsuba: ......... But...
[Toot toot!]
Tamaki Yotsuba: .......!? Someone got out of that car...
Mysterious Man: .........
Sogo Osaka: A masked man..!?
Tamaki Yotsuba: W-what do you want!? Stay away..! Ah..!
Sogo Osaka: Tamaki-kun..! ...Don't you dare do anything to him..!
Mysterious Man: ........!
Sogo Osaka: .........!? You're...
[Tap tap tap]
Sogo Osaka: Ah..! Wait, please..!
Tamaki Yotsuba: So-chan!
[Wroom...]
Sogo Osaka: ...Are you alright, Tamaki-kun!?
Tamaki Yotsuba: That guy gave me this.
Sogo Osaka: A parcel... Did you see how he looked when he gave you this?
Tamaki Yotsuba: Dunno. He was wearing a mask and sunglasses, so I didn't really see anything.
Sogo Osaka: I see...
Tamaki Yotsuba: But, for some reason... I kinda didn't get a bad vibe from him.
Sogo Osaka: ......... Neither did I. He felt familiar, somehow...
Tamaki Yotsuba: ...What do you think this is?
Sogo Osaka: I don't know... Let's open it.
Tamaki Yotsuba: What if it's a bomb?
Sogo Osaka: ...I hear no ticking, but we should still be careful. Hand it over, I'll open it.
Sogo Osaka: There's no people around, probably due to the rain. You should stand back, too...
Tamaki Yotsuba: ........
Sogo Osaka: ...Or don't.
Tamaki Yotsuba: You sure?
Sogo Osaka: Yeah. We'll open it together. I'm sure we'll be fine, because of the rain.
Tamaki Yotsuba: ...You sure it won't explode?
Sogo Osaka: It probably won't... In this kind of rain, any spark should fizzle out instantly. Though we can't be 100% sure.
Sogo Osaka: Besides, you're a good kid. If there's a higher power, then I'm sure the'd want to reward you, not punish you.
Tamaki Yotsuba: ...I don't wanna have nay more regrets. Are you sure this isn't stupid?
Sogo Osaka: I don't want any regrets, either. Which is why I refuse to act like a coward.
Tamaki Yotsuba: ...Fine. Let's open it, So-chan.
Sogo Osaka: Yeah... Here I go.
Tamaki Yotsuba: ...Maybe there's a fuse hidden in the paper..?
Sogo Osaka: ...This is oil paper, so it doesn't get wet in the rain... Ah...
Tamaki Yotsuba: It doesn't look like a bomb... What's that rectangular thing?
Sogo Osaka: ...It's a photo, and a card...
Tamaki Yotsuba: Card? What's it say?
Sogo Osaka: "Dear customer. Here are the pictures you ordered."
Sogo Osaka: "I can't thank you enough for the help you once gave my brother, so I've included your friend's photo, as well."
Tamaki Yotsuba: Wait... Could it be..?
MEZZO": The legendary detective..!?
Tamaki Yotsuba: Is that how the guy knew where we were!? He wasn't a shady guy, he was a private eye!
Tamaki Yotsuba: But what does his brother have to do with me? And I dunno who the friend he's talking about is, either...
Sogo Osaka: ...Tamaki-kun, look...
Tamaki Yotsuba: Huh..?
Sogo Osaka: My uncle... This is the picture of my uncle and I. Look, here he is.
Tamaki Yotsuba: And a mini So-chan...
Sogo Osaka: ...Uncle... It's because I had him that I'm making music now.
Tamaki Yotsuba: ...So-chan... Look at my photo, too.
Tamaki Yotsuba: Ta-dah! That's Mom, that's little Aya. And that's me...
Sogo Osaka: It's a tiny Tamaki-kun...
Tamaki Yotsuba: Yeah. So what do you think? You can stop staring at your uncle, already.
Tamaki Yotsuba: Hey. Say something.
Sogo Osaka: I think it's a wonderful picture. Your mother looks gentle, beautiful, and...
Sogo Osaka: ...I've finally had the chance to see her...
Tamaki Yotsuba: .........
Sogo Osaka: Tamaki-kun... It must've been so hard for you. But you're fine now.
Sogo Osaka: It's going to be fine...
Tamaki Yotsuba: ...Yeah...
Tamaki Yotsuba: You look like you had a rough time, too... Being in this stuffy place, wearing stuffy clothes. ...But at least you could still smile.
Tamaki Yotsuba: Hey, little guy. Believe it or not, but you're gonna be making music in a couple years. And I'm gonna sing your songs with you.
Tamaki Yotsuba: So, it's gonna be okay. You're gonna be okay.
Sogo Osaka: Yeah...
Sogo Osaka: Thank you, Tamaki-kun.Â
- - - -
Tsumugi's Thoughts: And that...
Tsumugi's Thoughts: ...Is how all 16 idols got their pictures, safe and sound.
- - - -
Mister Shimooka: Well then, it's about time we got Welcome to Kids' Room started!
Re:vale: OK!
TRIGGER: Alright.
IDOLiSH7: Yaaaay! Let's gooo!
ĆčOOÄ»: Yeah!
Mister Shimooka: Itâs the moment of truth! We'll be taking a look at these idols' childhood pictures!
Mister Shimooka: But before that, it's time for our special guests!
Mister Shimooka: Please welcome the CEO of Toi Toi Toi, Jiro Ito!
Mister Shimooka: As well as the man who gave a loan to Toi Toi Toi when it was on the verge of bankruptcy, Taro Ito!
Sogo Osaka: Huh?
Torao Mido: Hmm?
Mister Shimooka: Let's give both of the men who made Rabitty-kun what he is an equally warm welcome!
Mister Shimooka: Here they come!
All: Ooh, ooh!
???: Hello. I'm the CEO of Toi Toi Toi, Jiro Ito.
Tamaki Yotsuba: Ah..!
Tamaki Yotsuba: That's the uncle who took our picture..!Â
The End.

Serotonin Booster :Dđ
How to train your dragon edition
Here are some things I had forgotten or little details I just noticed on my rewatch, maybe even Unpopular Opinions đ€đ
âšDefenders of Berkâš
Not Astrid being pissed bc Fishlegs called her mean lmaooo
OMGGG "I would never call my father ridiculous. I'm calling my chief ridiculous" THE POWER OF THIS SCENE
The way Toothless just sat to look at the sunset.. Me too bby me too đ„ș
Toothless and Thornado's shots combined was amazing!
"The first rule about the dragon flight club is that there is no dragon flight club"
Istg Meatlug and Fishlegs are made for each other
Baby whispering deaths!
OMG THEY JUST CAME UP WITH GRONCKLE IRON
I love seeing the origin of things âșïž
Wowww I just realized that Gobber has a unibrow
Sandstone makes glass
That shiny black rock makes another shiny black Rock, it also has Meatlug boiling
WOW a combination of multiple rock makes Meatlug a magnet
The way Hookfang pays more attention to Fishlegs than Snotlout is funny
Fishlegs on Toothless!!!!
"TOO MUCH FURY, TOO MUCH FURY!" JAHDHDHAH
Awwww love how Fishlegs feels happy abt being needed
DAGUR'S BACK AHH
I never understood why Dagur called Hiccup his brother but it's kinda funny
Young hiccup actually fighting is pretty badass and that shield đ„Ž
The way they were all trying to get Gobber to shower lmaooo
Gobber saved Gustav's life and Fishleg saved Astrid's
Am I the only one that finds the whispering deaths kinda funny, like yes they're scary but these mfs have tiny wings, a big ass head, are covered in spines and can't see like-
Newly hatched whispering deaths can be more deadly that adults bc they can't control their jaws or spines
WOW WOW WOWWWW A WHITE WHISPERING DEATH - Titanwing whispering death with red eyes OMG NO NO THIS IS THE SCREAMING DEATH I KNEW IT âŒïžâŒïž
Wow but the pain in Snotlout's eyes đ„ș
Monstrous nightmares are stoker-class dragons
Fireworms get brighter the closer they get to each other
Ohhhhh now I get the history behind Hookfang and the fireworms queen's connection
"You're not just another sword, Hookfang"
Awww the fireworm queen saved Hookfang, I ship them now JSHDHSHS
BABY ASTRID!! đ„șđ„șđ„ș AWWW
Flightmare - follows the glowing algae caused by Aurvandil's fire, sprays a paralyzing mist to those who it considers a threat to its survival
Aurvandil's fire = Aurora Borealis
YES ASTRID BEAT SNOTLOUT UP
Hiccup: Well, you know, Astrid, uh, training dragons isn't the only thing I think about.
Astrid: Are you actually saying that to me with a straight face?
JAHSHAHAJAJ I SWEAR I LOVE THESE TWO the way both of them said these lines I can't âđŒđ
The way she said the exact same thing as her uncle and even took on the name I-
I have this headcanon that bc I'm pretty sure Astrid's parents were barely mentioned in the shows or movies that her uncle was the person that was there for her the most which is another reason why it upset her to see people making fun of him
Why does whenever Astrid gets shot by a dragon she always tries to hit it off like her axe is a baseball bat? đ
Hiccup saving Astrid in the flightmare epđ„șđ„șđ„șđ„ș
GLOWY TOOTHLESS AND GLOWY STORMFLY AND GLOWY MEATLUG ARE ADORABLE
Awww I love how Hiccup makes sure to mention the fact that "Fearless Fin Hofferson was indeed fearless, just like all the Hoffersons" đ„șđ„șđ„ș STOP AND THEN SHE SMILES AND HE PROCEEDS TO PUT HIS HAND ON HER SHOULDER I-đ„Žđ„Žđ„Ž
I love how they're always interrupted whenever they're about to say a bad word
Lil terrible terrors are adorable đ„ș
The fact that what they were trained for was actually useful it's crazy
Astrid: "no one is kissing me on the lips ever!!" HHSHAHAH ASTRID WHY U LYING
I feel like we don't appreciate how smart Hiccup actually is, and I don't mean that dragon-wise or building stuff-wise I mean in general. I'm in ep9 and they're finding old dragon traps to get rid of them and there was a lil breeze and he was like "there's a dry hot wind coming in from the north. It hasn't rained in 2 months. This is definitely fire weather." like how- am I the only one that would've been like okok a nice warm breeze đ©
Dude the typhoomerangs are so scary and huge wtf
I KNEW HE WAS TORCH
Torch actually built a lil relationship with Tuff just for that but of time I love it
WE'RE FINALLY GONNA SEE THE SKRILL!! I love it it's one of my favorite dragons :D
I never understood why fishlegs says his name when he's excited
Skrills - The skrill was first found frozen, it's the symbol of the Berserkers, it can stay safely frozen for decades because of their internal body temperature, can't redirect any lightning if it's in the water đł
Y'all the skrill and the nightfury have gotta be related somehow, they're probably like cousins or sum. I mean the night fury is the "unholy offspring of lighting and death" and the skrill can control lightning AND TECHNICALLY TOOTHLESS CAN TOO REMEMBER HTTYD 3 + they also have similar physical characteristics at least Imo.
Dude this dragon is so badass đđ€©đ„°đ©đ„ŽâŁïžđ€đ€ I'm literally so obsessed
Wow one of the first times I see the twins actually doing sum useful
The way the shots combineđ„Ž
Dagur has misophonia - condition where people experience intense negative emotions for sounds such as eating, chewing, loud breathing or even repeated pen-clicking [ep11]
Oh wow so they originally trapped the skrill in this show i didn't know
Wait but baby Gustav is actually adorable wtf and the fact that he and Snotlout have matching Viking hats
OMG SEE NOW I'M SEEING GUSTAV'S ORIGIN WITH HIS DRAGON AND HIS DESIRE TO BECOME A RIDER
Fanghookđ„șđ„șđ„șđ„șđ„ș
Ruff puts fish oil on her hair to get "a greasy unwashed look"
Really hate when Snotlout doesn't accept no for an answer
THE HAND THING AHHHH I LOVE IT this time is Ruff and a scauldron
Ok guys so I did this with mi friend's puppy who I accidentally scared enough to make him piss himself and I'm pretty sure I traumatized him and now when I'm around the poor dog tries to get as far away from me as possible but one day we were kinda bonding although he still wouldn't let me pet it AND I DID THE HAND THING BECAUSE WHY NOT AND THIS LIL MF ACTUALLY PUTS HIS FACE IN MY HAND- I screamed and he left againđ„șđ BUT IT DID WORK
Scauldyđ„șđ„șđ„șđ„șđ„șđ„șđ„șđ„șđ„șđ„°đâșïžđ€©đ€
Ok but ruffnut with short hair đ€©
Speedstingers
Also the way Astrid ran up to Hiccup in the ep14
Wait but the scene whenever they're fighting the Speedstingers and Fishlegs says they're too fast but Hiccup's like "not for a nightfury" and then they show Toothless dodging the Speedstinger's attack AND THEN THEY SHOW HICCUP PROTECTING HIMSELF WITH HIS SHIELD WHICH GETS THROWN AWAY BUT RIGHT THERE TOOTHLESS CATCHES IT AND THROWS IT BACK TO HICCUP who's like "Thanks bud" đ€©đ€©đ€© literally so badass go watch it!! It's ep14 frozen min 17:40
I really liked the relationship Snotlout and Astrid created with each other's dragon đ„ș
HOOKFANG'S WINGBLAST AND STORMFLY'S SINGLE-SPINESHOT ARE HELLA BADASS... I love how they worked together this time đ„ș
DUDE JAHDHSJAJJJSA ppl really underestimate Ruff's cleverness, this bish really gets Tuff to do the dumbest things just to enjoy looking at him hurting himself JAHDHSJAHđ
TOOTHLESS REALLY JUST BIT AN EEL'S HEAD OFF TO SAVE HICCUPđ„ș
Baby toothless is highđ„ș
"Uh, okay. That one was a little close to the one good leg" JAHDHAHSHA ISTG I LOVE THIS DUDE
Johan hates Snotlout for breaking his stuff
Tuff got Macey the Mace from Trader Johan
Astrid looks hot without her shoulder pads
Ok but Dagur looks so weird without his viking hat in this show
The baby thunderdrums are adorable - BING BAM AND BOOM
NOOO STOICK JUST LEFT THORNADO đ„ș
OHHH SO ALVIN WAS ACTUALLY FROM BERK and he was Stoick's best friend
Snotlout and Hiccup are parallels of Alvin and Stoick
Ok but that trick Snotlout did was amazing, he really had Hookfang do a lil typhoomerangs move and then the wingblastđ€©
I FINISHED IT OMG NOW ONTO RTTE!!

Peace of mind part 2 / 2
pairing : Levi Ackerman x Reader
word count : 3,206 K
summary : youâre the captain of your own squad, and you have a habit to go spend some time alone in a cabin located near the young recruits quarters. One day, you found Levi there who didnât mind your company.
themes : deep talks, rain, maybe new beginnings, feelings development (on your side at least), slight interest from Leviâs side if you squint hard enough, life choices, fears, insecurities.
warnings : tw astraphobia (extreme fear of thunder), mentions of death.
You can read part 1 / 2 here
âOi, why are you leaving? Isnât this the place you come to for some âpeace of mindâ ? âYes, but youâre here nowâ you replied in a quiet yet steady voice. âAnd iâm ruining the view for youâ ? He asked looking at you nonchalantly. His tone was sarcastic, his eyes pressed you for an answer.
«Looks like itâs going to rain »
When the captain let out these words, it wasnât long before cold droplets started to spill one after the other, soon the cabin was draped in watery curtains, making you and the captain take a step back to avoid getting soaked.
If you wanted to get back to your quarters, it was already too late for that, as the rain intensified rather quickly, both of you have been a bit too slow to react. But then again, who could have anticipated such a heavy rain in this time of the year.
« Dammit, i think itâs best to wait. Weâll get soaked down to the bone if we walk under this downpour»
You let out a small « yes », both startled and worried by the sudden change in weather. You were rather...uncomfortable being trapped in here with Levi Ackerman even though your mind was running with reprehensible scenarios right now .
Letâs face it, you always had a thing for the man, even if your only interactions with him consisted in you admiring him quietly from afar and frankly, youâd imagined youâd be thrilled by the idea of being stuck alone with the captain, but you were in such a state of unease right now because of the weather that you couldn't really care about that right now, because generally, heavy rain also meant-
Your thoughts were cut abruptly by the mention of your name.
You actually heard your name ?
Levi was facing you, and had just called you by your name. Not in a million years would you have thought he has it registered in his mind. He said it again as to carefully confirm he was not mistaking.
« Thatâs your name right ? »
«Yes » you let out in a breath, a little confused.
As if he was reading your mind, taking notes of your interrogative expression, he answered your inner pondering.
« I asked your superiors for your name not long ago. You may have heard of the initiative by now, Erwin and i are in the process of creating a special squad that iâll be leading. Details are still confidential, but i can tell you that i have been granted complete freedom in selecting the members. »
He paused before continuing, focusing on you.
« and you might be in it »
For a moment, you forgot how to breathe and your mind went blank with the new information. You did hear something of the sort, but you did not imagine Levi considering, well, you. You'd imagined you need more than just skills to impress him. You did give your heart and soul to the cause, you chose to be a soldier, you didn't get thrown into it, you also made the conscious effort to be better and more effective on the battlefield. And right now you, were having a hard time believing that your efforts were actually paying off. Leviâs devotion and dedication served as a fuel to your own, and here you were, both of you discussing the possibility of working under his direct orders. You felt your stomach flutter, it was impossible to tell if it was from fear, anticipation or anything else.
You ignored the feeling when Levi broke the silence again.
« Iâve seen your ranking and your score since you enrolled in the Survey Corps. A few years ago your skills werenât the impressive kind, but with time you managed to outgrow yourself. Forty titans taken down solo and more than thirty taken down in team, now that's impressive, so i went and asked for your name. »
The thought of Levi walking up to your superiors and asking specifically to be given informations about you made you feel a certain type of way you couldnât quite pinpoint at the moment. He must also have asked Keith Shadis you thought then. That man always held you in high regards, and you were grateful for it. You never caused trouble, you were discret but efficient, you started to convince yourself that you were indeed, worthy of Leviâs interest, additionally, he did like quiet and efficient people.
The cabin was getting extremely cold with each passing minute, and you were still stuck with no sign of the downpour stopping any soon.
You started shivering, you were both in uniforms, with only your military jackets to keep you warm, neither of you brought your cloak.
If he had his cloak with him, would he offer it to you to keep you warm ?
A bright dash of light appeared somewhere far away but close enough to brighten the interior of the cabin.
Lightning ?
Your heart started pounding voraciously in your chest, and you were afraid Levi was about to witness a side of you that you were afraid might change his mind about you. Not noticing your hands that already started trembling, anticipating whatâs to come, you swallowed a thick lump, trying to ground yourself on the wooden structure.
Levi seemed to notice the change in your demeanor but brushed it off. You stayed quite the whole time, you didnât say anything at the news he just handed you.
You tried to pin your attention on the captain and what he just said, you tried to compose an answer to give him, or maybe just keep a thread of conversation going, but when you opened your mouth, a blasting sound echoed all around, followed by menacing vibrations in the air. The start of a thunderstorm, the sound was as if the sky got torn in half and soon enough, a harsh light spilled through and painted the entire scenery white for a second.
Instinctively you pressed your eyes shut at the sound. When you opened them, you were one inch away from Levi, gripping at his clothes for dear life, as if you were afraid to drown in the harsh light.
As if you were afraid to die.
Your fingers digged so hard into Levi's shirt beneath his jacket that you were positive you were leaving marks on his skin. When you realized what you were doing, you quickly backed off, body still shaking and lips starting to quiver.
« Iâm so sorry Capt- »
Another thunderous blow tore the sky a second time, and this time you ducked on the ground with your two hands covering your ears, your eyes closed so hard that little watery pearls started forming at their corners.
To you, it seemed like it was going on forever, and then, you heard Levi pronounce those words you hated to hear about yourself.
« Youâre afraid of the thunder ? »
Yes, yes you were
As horribly embarrassing, childish and pathetic as it was, you were.
Since you were just a child, the sound of the sky tearing up was something that made you unreasonably vulnerable. But you couldnât help it, such an irrational fear was beyond your control and you were fortunate that a thunder erupting during a storm wasn't a very common event inside the walls.
In the rare occasions where it did happen, you felt your mind losing its grip on your body.
You didnât answer Levi, you couldnât focus on him, you just kept the palm of your hands pressed flat on your ears to try and hear the least possible of what was going on outside. You knew nothing was going to happen to you, you knew your body shouldnât be trembling in this way, but you couldnât reach your mind in these moments and ask of it to calm down, and this is what scared you the most.
Thatâs it. You thought
The only thought that emerged in your mind for a moment was how pathetic of a side you were showing levi at this moment. Just after he confessed he was thinking about you joining forces with him in fighting for humanity, here you were, scared out of your skull, and out of your control by the big scary sound in the sky.
Heâs probably gonna review his opinion of you.
He's probably reviewing his opinion of you right now.
He probably thinks your not fit to fight under his orders.
You kill titans by the dozen.
But here you were, scared of the weather
Sitting down, you had brought your knees up against your chest now, ears still covered, you moved your hands a little as the sound seemed to have ceased only to put them back on quickly as the sky screamed and shook again. You had opened your eyes just to close them again in terror. In terror how pathetic.
You didnât here Levi shift or make a move until you felt the hem of his jacket poking at your forehead. For a second, the sound stopped and you opened your eyes to Levi who took off his military jacket and handed it to you.
« Here, put it over your head, it will muffle the sound »
Out of surprise, and still a bit shocked from your tourment, you mechanically took his jacket and covered your head with it, pressing the fabric over your ears as the sky screamed again. It was working, you felt as if you were underwater, you still heard everything, but it sounded so far that you felt somewhat safe, only then did you realize that Levi did what he did.
He didnât threw an insult at you telling you to get your act together
Instead, he silently offered some comfort, acknowledging your fear,
Validating your fear.
The hellish concert went on for three minutes. Three long minutes during which the sky threw a tantrum with unrealistic vibrations rippling through the air, as a shrieking wind joined in the outburst.
A lot of things happened during those three minutes, Levi coming to sit next to you on the ground, waiting for the storm to pass, and you getting intoxicated by the scent of the inside of his jacket, Leviâs jacket. This is what Levi smells like. You thought.
You were glad your face was covered as you felt it flush. Sure there was a faint note of sweat, but hey, you were soldiers, and soldiers sweat. But you could also recognize different other scents all converging into something you found extremely pleasing, almost soothing to you; a bit musk and something that resembled a type argan oil, you inhaled in silence, taking it all in shamefully. The feeling of being almost afloat under his jacket, the storm seemingly far away, as if you were cut from reality, only being able to breathe Levi's scent, the thought of him soon consumed you, leaving you feeling light-headed.
It was the closest you had been to Levi, since all these years, working together from afar; since you saw him for the first time when he proved to be everything but someone coming from the underground, both in manners and values, since the time you used to watch him ruffle Isabel Magnoliaâs hair and feel that ache in your heart that grew more and more hungry.
When you watched him giving the hardest time to the young recruits
When you watched how loyal he was to Erwin, always present by his side watching over their mentees.
When you watched him from a distance, putting his horses in their stables, and staying a little longer to care about them and give them small gestures of affection
When you watched him sitting alone, by himself sipping his tea, holding his cup in his strange little way.
When you watched him accidentally sleep in the stable, on a bench, on a chair, so many times, while hesitant-and scared- subordinates would shake him shyly to wake him up.
When you watched him, from this cabin.
You liked climbing up this cabin, it was quiet, calm, but mostly, you could watch Levi all day long without him even realizing it.
You liked the cabin because watching Levi from a distance was calming to you.
You liked this cabin because observing Levi put your mind at ease.
When you found him up here, you turned heels as quickly as your heart started thumping on your chest, ready to live right away. You knew, soon enough that it wasnât mere admiration for a comrade, it was more than that. Observing him from this cabin, you realized you wanted to rest a hand on his shoulder and tell him to go rest, the more you looked at him, the more you wanted to touch him, to feel him. There was so many things you wanted to tell him. Thank you for doing so much, youâre killing yourself go have some rest, thank you for bearing the weight of shielding humanity against its terrors, thank you for devoting your life, please take better care of yourself, we need you, we love.
I love you
Just know you have someone who cares so much for you.
Who wants to be by your side.
So badly.
But never did you approach him enough to have this much of him. Sure, you had your exchange of words and your eyes met on more than one occasion, but it was all wrapped in formalities, it didnât feel human enough.
This
This feels human,
Him handing you his jacket felt human
You crumbling in front of him in all your pathetic glory was also human.
Now all you could think about or feel was Levi, you chewed on your feelings while trying to imprint in your head the only thing you got from him, this memory.
You suddenly felt a forceful tug, his hand was trying to move the jacket, you released your grip as soon as you realized that he wanted to take it off of you. The thunder had stopped for good, there was no roaring, no blasting echoes anymore. Just the quiet sound of the rain now. You loosened up, stretching your legs in a timid relief, your body trying to adjust to the now foreign calmness.
The captain didnât say a word, and you stayed quiet as well.
The rain was quietly softening and the air was seemingly less cold, you realized your body had stopped shivering at all.
« Iâm so embarrassed you had to see me like this Captain» you confessed broking the silence.
« Donât be. Every fear has its reasons, even irrational ones »
You really thought humanityâs strongest would be repulsed by such a sight, he required people to be always strong or so you thought, but come to think of it, he always acknowledged human unescapable states like fear, regrets and sorrow., especially when those were almost inevitable on a battlefield. You never seen him dismiss any of those emotions when he witnessed comrades and soldiers experiencing them, even outside off the field.
« Do you...have any fears Levi ? »
You called him by his name, your question had a personal undertone to it that it required you to, or so you thought. And you couldnât believe you actually had the courage to ask the strongest soldier alive if he feared anything.
« Regrets »
You turned to look at him, he was looking down at his jacket, his white shirt slightly wet from the rain it caught, you felt a little guilty witnessing that. You didnât have a clue what was on his mind right now, but saying that, Levi was thinking about all the soldiers he lost under his commands, his two only companions he lost because of the choices he made, everything he lost, everything he couldnât get back and everything he have regretted but decided not to, because he feared that if heâd let those regrets slip into the crevices of his mind, heâd never recover from it.
« I think it has been fairly gossiped about, but i lost my two truest and most loyal companions, i let them choose for themselves even though i wasnât confident with that decision, it ended up horribly, but it was also my choice. It was my first time outside these walls, and also the last time i saw them alive. I feared regretting all of it, i feared the disappointment with myself was going to swallow me whole, but someone...someone who refused to succumb to their demons taught me once how dangerous it is to surrender to regrets, they can make everything loose its meaning in a blink of an eye. I used to fear sleeping on an empty stomach, i used to fear that stealing and killing would be my only reason to live. Now i fear everyday for my soldiers life, but what i fear the most is the regrets i could have, if you let them overpower you, they can make you believe that everything amounts to nothing.
Putting his palms on the wooden wall behind him, Levi pushed himself up, putting his jacket on, arms sliding slowly into the sleeves you were protecting your ears with just minutes ago.
« Thatâs why i make the choice, every waking day, not to regret any of my actions »
« So you donât see me as a weak person ? »
« You killed forty human-eating monsters all by yourself, i donât call that weak. As long as there is no thunder while youâre killing them i think weâre good »
You chuckled a little, your face already a bit brighter.
« It already happened Captain, and i did just fine, seems like it doesnât affect me when iâm concentrating on something bigger and more frightening »
He was already heading for the door, your eyes following the black and white wings on the back of his jacket, he stopped just before going down the stairs.
« Iâll see you tomorrow at Erwinâs office for some paperwork regarding your new responsibilities »
You watched his figure disappear like it from your view like it always does, even though you were just been announced youâre gonna be working while being even closer to the threat now, you never felt happier. Yes you will be closer to the danger, but you will also be closer to Levi, hoping you could watch over him and maybe just maybe protect him as a token of your love. Be it from your admiration or your strong feelings, you knew your devotion to him had no boundaries. He wasnât only humanityâs strongest in spilling blood and cutting flesh, he was also humanity's strongest for having a heart equally as great as his strength, but the world had yet to give him credit for that.
Listening to the creaking of the stairs as he went down, you couldn't help but remember when you found him in the cabin, staring at the sky. âAnd iâm ruining the view for youâ ? He asked
You arenât ruining the view
You are the view »

No one would imagine that a single drop could be the start of something so big. However, it would earn itself great meaning after a while passed. Should it continue pouring, it could also summon boundless blessings and curses.
Love was almost like rain.
The Journey and the Auto-Memories Doll
That one was a rain of betrayal.
It started with a calm morning, the sky unfolding without any hints of being enshrouded in dark clouds. Regardless, it did not take too long for the capricious rain brought by the heavens to turn into a downpour rarely seen in recent years.
There was no longer any sign of the rain that had started to fall like gentle kisses from paradise on the black hats of gentlemen walking around town, over the backs of cats dozing under the sun or onto the cheeks of children who opened their mouths and burst into laughter. The current season was the end of summer, and it was raining for the first in a long while in Leidenschaftlich, where the skies were constantly clear in summer, but had the god that controlled weather gone crazy? With time, as if a bucket had turned over, the city was hit by a flood.
This story is about an uneventful day, which did nothing but pass, in the lives of people who worked at a certain postal company.
The rain and wind struck the entire building as if attacking it. The doorbell rang loudly because of this, a man standing in place and staring at it with unease.
Creak-creak, the door moved. Ring-ring, the bell resounded. Since it was ringing despite there being no customers, he had become concerned and found himself coming down from his residence in the top floor.
In the previous year, the building had been shot with rocket artillery, and not only had it earned an enormous hole but a fire had also occurred â however, thanks to the quick skills of workmen, the hole was now closed and the walls had been neatly rebuilt.
The man was a stylish redhead. He was the president of this company, which he had named after himself.
Claudia Hodgins had been left all alone in the empty postal office. Still, it was normal for him to be there, as it was both his home and workplace. However, since he was by himself at a time that would usually still be within business hours, no matter what, he looked like he had been abandoned.
The postal office had been in great turmoil because of the storm. Surely, so had its peers. With the deliveries stagnated, complaints were coming from the clients. Nevertheless, the transportation was not carried out by machines devoid of feelings. It was something done by humans, who had been given birth to by someone and who had families waiting for them when they returned home. In lieu of the unpreceded disaster, as the president, he had notified all employees that business would be closed for today.
To begin with, the customers had stopped coming in the middle of the day. If he had to say so himself, this might be the expected. Deliberately going outside amidst such strong wind and torrential rain was an act of sheer madness.
Curious about what was going on outside, Hodgins had approached the entrance from the side. He felt like attempting to open the large doors just a little. He wanted to see how inundated the ground was. Just when he slow and carefully reached a hand towards it, the door opened with force despite him not doing anything.
âOw...!â
âOh, my bad. More importantly, weâre screwed; itâs just impossible, Old Man!â
Hodgins was teary-eyed as his precious nose took a hit. He was lightheaded for an instant due to the pain, but soon regained consciousness. After all, one of his employees had come back dripping-wet. Hodgins pulled him â whole body wrapped in rain gear â by the arm, bringing him inside and closing the door. Although it was only open for a few seconds, the entrance was already drenched.
The visitor took off the hood over his head, allowing his face to be seen. He was a splendidly handsome and fine man of sky-blue eyes and sandy-blond hair.
âBenedict...!â
Benedict Blue. One of the postal companyâs postmen, who had been working in it ever since its founding.
âItâs impossible â actually, itâs absurd! Working under this rain is absurd! I look like Iâm in the bath already. I wouldnât have come here if I werenât soaked... Making the staff pull out was the right choice,â Benedict said as if angry-yelling, shaking his head in the same way that a dog or cat would and splattering water splashes at Hodgins.
This wetted most of Hodginsâs shirt and face, but he was unable to reprimand his employee, who had been doing strenuous effort. He accepted it in resignation, wiping Benedictâs face with the sleeve of his shirt. âOkay, stay put.â
âUoh, whatâs with you? Stop.â
âWelcome home. I was worried. Good thing youâre all right.â
âO-Oh. What, hum... Iâm back... You were worried about me?â
âOf course,â Hodgins said, to which Benedict turned away with an obviously embarrassed attitude after a moment of bewilderment.
Outside, vases and planters that may have been at the eaves of peopleâs houses, as well as shop signs, had been turning into weapons for a while now, dancing around the city along with the wind. Managing to come back unharmed and safely amidst this weather, where one could not know what would come flying their way, was something to be happy about.
âIâm just fine. This jobâs easier than running around shooting guns. Anyway, I was left with the letters and packages of a guy who fell from his motorcycle and came back by myself. Was best to do that, right?â
âAah, so someone got hurt?â
âThat newbie, Clark. But he only scrapped his knees. He fell lots of times when he was learning how to ride, but for real, itâs surprisingly depressing when you fall off other than during practice. He was crying, yâsee.â
âAah~.â
Knowing who the person in question was, Hodgins pitied him. He was the youngest postman to join the company as of late. It was difficult to find human resources for postmen as they were quick to quit.
âHeâs young, after all...â
âYou call him young but... heâs already a grown man. I wonder if he ainât lying to us about his age... I thought he was a baby or something.â
âYou canât compare him to a city boy fresh from the battlefield like yourself. Iâm gonna get you a towel and a change of clothes now, so donât move from there.â
âWhy?â
âYouâd wet the floor. Donât tell me to go around cleaning up where you walked.â
âClean it up,â he said while laughing, to which Hodginsâs shoulders slumped. He was a reliable companion, but also a young man who knew not how to show respect for his elders.
ââWell, guess Iâm a so-called doting parent for thinking thatâs cute â no, doting boss.
Anyhow, they needed towels, Hodgins thought as he went back to his room. He grabbed a few large towels and held a pair of trousers and shirt that Benedict would apparently fit into under his arm. Then returned to the ground floor. By the time he did so, the number of people had increased.
âUwah... Amazing, itâs like squeezing a rag.â
There were three more other than Benedict. If they were to be separated by types, one of them had evacuated after receiving a report of work, one had evacuated after finishing work, and one had been ordered to clock out, but all had come back halfway through, as their bodies were about to be blown off by the overwhelming storm.
âPlease stop.â There was Violet Evergarden, whose golden hair was in Benedictâs grasp.
âWhy? You said your hair was wet.â
âYou just want to touch Violetâs hair, Benedict. Isnât that right?â Lux Sibyl, who had given up on wiping her glasses and was glaring at the empty space.
âThatâs not it. Donât say weird stuff, Lux.â
âYou knooow, my hairâs just as long as Violetâs.â And Cattleya Baudelaire, who scowled at Benedict with her arms crossed.
The members who had been there ever since the founding were Violet, Cattleya and Benedict, but Lux, having joined midway, was now a skillful secretary who covered up the schedule of the employees and president and moved them around like chess pieces. As the four people whose ages were close to each otherâs came together, the conversation naturally livened up.
âYouâYouâre that kinda thing. If I touch you in a place like this, itâd be that kinda thing. This is our workplace, so thereâs all that kinda thing. Morally speaking, itâs that kinda thing.â
âWhat do you mean âmorally speakingâ?!â
âI wish you wouldnât say those things even if you think about them. Right, Violet?â
ââPublic moralsâ...? Benedict, what am I from your point of view?â
âV, youâre like a little sister to me... Aah, Old Man, gimme another towel.â
It was a terribly joyful thing that the companyâs young aces had returned to it safe and sound.
âEveryone, donât move from that spot no matter what. Hey, Cattleya! Donât move!â
However, wiping all the water off the bodies of those four turned out to be a bone-breaking work.
Out of kindness, Hodgins invited the four people who had gathered up at the postal company to his residence in the top floor.
The whole floor was his apartment, thus it was quite large. A family of five could live comfortably in it. The furnishings were arranged in wooden items and serene shades of dark brown and green. It was a relaxed, adult atmosphere, where was nothing particularly funny. It had a faint scent of the perfume that Hodgins always wore.
The invited four let out sighs of relief. The biggest reason for it, although there was also the fact that this was Hodginsâs apartment, was that they were able to escape the horrible situation outdoors. With the exception of Lux, three of them were tough enough to take part in the act of physically crushing other postal companies, but human beings could not win against natural disasters.
âHey, what do we do? We canât go home anymore, can we?â
âThereâs nothing we can do. We got no choice but stay in Old Manâs place.â
âFirst time something like this happens, huh. But weâre all together, so... might be imprudent of me to say this, but... itâs a bit fun. Violet, are you worried about your home?â
âYes, about the flowerbeds.â
âYou should say âabout the people back homeâ, V.â
âThe two went on a trip, so they are away. I promised that I would take care of the flowers in their absence, which is why... I am worried about the flowerbeds. Besides, if that house were to be destroyed by this storm, this place would meet its end much sooner... We have little time left to live.â
âDonât go from talking about your family to destroying the company, Little Violet. Hey, hey, everyone, youâll catch a cold so get changed first. Put the towels in the laundry basket. Benedict, donât throw the towels wherever!â
As told by Hodgins, the employees firstly decided to change their clothes.
Violet and Cattleya had just returned from a work trip of two days and one night, thus they had a change of nightclothes in their bags, but Benedict and Lux did not. Although there was a height difference between them, Hodgins had no issues with lending clothes to Benedict, who was also a man, but there was a need for careful selection when it came to Lux.
âShirt... shirt, shirt; all I have is shirts.â
âHum, President, Iâm fine with anything.â
âEeh... that okay?â
As a result, the boy and girl came into the scene wearing baggy clothes. Benedict looked almost the same as when he and Hodgins first met. When he was left to chance completely naked in a desert, he had borrowed a shirt and trousers just as he was doing now. He seemed pleased with it, however...
âFeels kinda naughty...â
...the problem was Lux.
âBenedictâs fine, but maybe it wonât do for Little Lux? Is this okay?â Hodgins asked everyone with a meek face.
They all had at last settled down, each seated in a place of their preference while sipping tea. The employees were relaxing as if they were in their own homes. Contrary to the peaceful state of the situation inside, there was still a sound of rain hitting the windows and a troubled noise of something colliding against the building outside.
âWhat is âokayâ supposed to mean?â Sitting on the sofa, Violet tilted her head. Being comfortably dressed in a dusty-pink nightwear gave her usually disciplined self a slightly soft and gentle air.
âLittle Violet.â
âYes.â
âYour nightgown is cute, huh.â
âThe people from the household bought it for me. Well, what is âokayâ supposed to mean? Was there any problem?â
âLittle Luxâs clothes.â
For whatever reason, they had the person in question standing in the center of the room. With everyoneâs eyes on her, she seemed uneasy.
âHum... why do I have to stand in the middle?â
âLittle Lux, stay like that and donât move.â
âAll right.â
âWhat is wrong with Luxâs look? You mean to say it lacks adornment?â
âWhy would that be the case, Little Violet?â
âYou are the one who chooses attires for us Dolls and you have particularities regarding the clothing and accessories, so I concluded that you might deem the plain shirt as not enough.â
âNo, no.â Hodgins flailed both hands. The things he was saying had a moral value to them, out of fear that her outfit was perhaps vulgar.
Benedict had dealt with it by securing her trousers with a belt, but as Lux had too thin a waist, the outcome was the belt falling off. In short, she was not wearing pants. Inevitably, she was dressed in nothing but a shirt. However, her short stature fortunately made it look like a shirt-dress.
As Hodgins explained his concern, everyone said, âI see.â
Showered with their stares more and more, Lux began to blush.
âIt gives off a dangerous feeling when you think she ainât wearing any, but on second thought, isnât that the same for skirts? Thereâs actually an open hole in them, but itâs not visible, so theyâre classified as clothes. No big deal, is it?â Benedict had been standing with his back against the wall just a moment ago, yet had suddenly drawn close to her and started examining her fixatedly.
âDonât say ânot wearing anyâ!â
âWell, I mean, you really ainât wearing any... but thatâs okay. No biggie. Youâre probably not an option for Old Man, so no worries. Right?â
âThatâs rude!â
âIâm saying you donât need to worry about that kinda thing... Should I take mine off, then? I see; Iâm fine with it. Iâll be the same as you. That all right? Iâm gonna take it off.â
âStop, stop, stop!â As Benedict put a hand to his belt while laughing, Lux repeatedly hit his chest with her fists to stop him. Lux was red up to her ears. âI canât take this anymore! Violet! Take Benedict to over there!â
âUnderstood.â
âOwowowow, V, ouch, thatâs not it; it was the Old Man who said weird stuff first. Weâre friends, so I was showing that she doesnât have to get hung up over something like...â
Caught in Violetâs arms, Benedict obediently sat on the sofa. Perhaps in order not to allow him to escape, she gripped his hands and sat next to him.
Cattleya cut through the silence, âThe tea is delicious.â She was scattered over the bed. She must have been tired from returning from the Doll business trip. Her eyes were downcast. She might be sleepy.
âCattleya, do you not have any comments to make? I want to hear lots of opinions.â
âEeeh, me?â Cattleya joined the needless debate as if it were a bother. âHmmm... if someone were making her wear this because itâs their taste, itâd be gross indeed, but thereâs no other clothes for her... Itâd also be horrible to leave her with just a towel wrap, so I think itâs valid. Speaking of which, President...â
âHm?â
âYouâre saying that even though you pick open-chested clothes for my Doll outfits? And the times you were choosing Doll attires for me, yâknooow, you were never so considerate to say ânot this, not this eitherâ when discussing it with the people from the made-to-order store...â
Her manner of speech was somewhat thorny, but Hodgins did not make much out of it. âThatâs because they look good on you.â Rather, he said decisively, with an earnest gaze and excessive confidence, âBecause they look good on you. Is my judgement wrong?â
âE-Eh?â Being replied to so unapologetically, Cattleyaâs reasoning jumbled up, to the point she found herself wondering if she was the one in the wrong.
The Doll outfit that Cattleya usually wore was composed mainly of a crimson dress-coat, so there was no mistaking that one could not wear it unless the person was remarkably stylish. In addition, there was also no doubt that it was lascivious. Whoever looked at her would find their line of sight momentarily going to her chest. Still, whoever looked at her would remember the woman named Cattleya Baudelaire at once.
âNo... itâs not like your choices are wrong... but I only forgive you because youâre the boss. I was shocked when you first showed me that outfit! I didnât use to wear something like that before.â
âWell, but yâsee, an hourglass-shaped person looks more slender when the area around their collarbone is exposed, and itâs pretty.â
An evident question mark floated above Violetâs head at the unfamiliar word. Benedict pointed a finger at the tea set arranged on the nearby table. An hourglass used to measure the time it took to steam the tealeaves was lying there. Perhaps finding the similarity between it and a plump chest and dainty hips, Violet nodded as if convinced.
âYouâve got an hourglass-shaped figure with that slim waist, so I gave you a coat-dress that puts this on display. You can adjust it with the ribbon, so itâs not a pain, right? It has a wonderful line in mathematical terms, yâknow? Plus, you also have a cheerful character, so it doesnât look vulgar. Thatâs important. It means that outfit takes into consideration even the personality of the one wearing it. And the owner of that made-to-order store is famous not just in this country but abroad. The outfits of our Dolls are on a whole different level in comparison to other companies, arenât they?â
âY-Yeah.â
âI donât want to bring this up, but theyâre very expensive.â
âEh, Iâm sorry. S-Should I pay you back? Either that or you can dock my salary...â
âNo, youâre my Doll, after all. Nobody waters a flower to get money off it, right? Itâs fine, Cattleya. Just stay pretty. Itâs exactly because I have obsessions over clothes that I donât want to make a girl look vulgar. And itâs exactly because I like girls that I want to have them shine wonderfully. Thatâs also why I have a few complaints about Little Luxâs usual plain clothes, though...â
âI donât know why you decided to run a mail service, President, but I accept that passion of yours. Iâll wear those clothes with care. But, President, Iâm doing my best, so I want a new outfit. A cute one.â
Listening to the conversation of the two in silence, perhaps tired of going along with her superior, Lux looked at Violet and Benedictâs direction with a gaze that quietly asked for help. There was a gap on the sofa that seemed enough for one person to sit. Having locked eyes with her, Violet told Benedict to scoot over after a brief moment and patted the open spot. Lux sat next to them, looking happy.
âViolet, whatâre you drinking?â Lux peeked at the teacup that Violet was holding.
âI wonder. I took the tealeaves that were in the kitchen. I do not know what type of tea it is.â
âDarjeeling.â
âBenedict, how did you know?â
ââCause that guy likes Darjeeling. All the tea cans he has are nothing but that.â
âGuess Iâm gonna drink that too; my body got cold from the long time under the rain.â
âHeeey, the three of you who ended the talk before we noticed! Listen to what I have to say.â Hodgins put his hands on his hips, pretending to be angry.
âWe were deviating from the main subject. We deemed that it was not a necessary conversation and took action prioritizing Luxâs rest,â Violet expressed with a clear voice tone.
âBesides, this talkâs about bedroom wear, ainât it?â Benedict added a two-fold retort. The blond, blue-eyed duo that looked like siblings stared at Hodgins with questioning eyes.
âUgh, I comply with you two no matter what you say when you both look at me at the same time, so cut it out. But Iâm not giving up. I think she needs one more article of clothing.â
âHum... President, Iâm okay with this. Iâm already thankful that I could borrow your clothes. Besides, when you make such a big fuss about it, things that werenât lewd in the first place start to seem lewd, so to say,â Lux said, wanting to end this topic as fast as possible.
âThe solution has come to me. Wouldnât it be best if I took the shirt and trousers and had Lux wear this nightgown?â
However, Violet wound up rewinding it.
ââViolet!
Lux hit Violet repeatedly in her mind.
âAh~, thatâs right. If thatâs the case, I can do it too. But maybe my nightgown is too big? Itâs a negligee just like Violetâs. The shoulder length might be the problem for this one...â
âOld Man, you gonna die if you donât obsess over the stuff we wear? You ainât. Give up.â
âNo way. Days like this one donât come by. All five of us are trapped in the company and we canât get out. Youâve got no choice but stay here in my house, right? Weâre having the best of parties, a pajama party. I want it to be a good one. But I canât enjoy it when Iâm worrying over Little Luxâs clothes.â
Benedict contemplated a reply to Hodginsâs words for a few seconds, but soon stopped. He was probably tired. He looked Violetâs way and asked, âHey, you not hungry? Iâm gonna take a look at the kitchen.
âHey, donât ignore me.â As Benedict stood up, Hodgins chased after him.
âBenedictâs gonna make something? Yay! You guys probably donât know this, but heâs good at cooking.â Cattleya lined up behind them.
âI didnât say I was gonna make anything, though... Well, if youâre hungry, I can do it.â
âI shall assist you.â Violet raised her arms, rolling up her sleeves. Her prosthetics made a creaking noise.
âV, you can cook?â
âTo some extent. In the military, I used to make preparations for the cooking. Mrs. Evergarden... Lady Tiffany also trained me on it.
âM-Me too... I can peel the potatoes, and stuff.â Lux hastily went after everyone. In a trail, a big move to the kitchen began to take place.
âLux. You donât usually cook, do you? I can already tell by just that statement. Iâll teach you.â
âMost things get solved just by peeling the potatoes... Benedict, youâre making fun of me, arenât you?â
âAm not, Potato Demigod.â
âViolet, Benedict insulted me!â
âBenedict.â
âOwowow! Vâ! Donât poke my sides! A hit from those crazy-ass prosthetics of yours ainât no cutesy way to poke anyone! It just hurts like it normally would!â
In the end, Hodgins was able to find a light feather-print sweater in his closet and gave it to Lux. As she put it on, with her short stature, its length became the same as that of a long cardigan, which Hodgins was awfully pleased with for how adorable it was.
The madder-red sky was not visible at dusk, the outside morphing into evening with no changes in the rainy weather.
Benedict made a soup at random with the vegetables available in Hodginsâs kitchen, which had seasonings in abundance, while Violet and Cattleya supplied it with cookies that they had brought back as souvenirs from their ghostwriting business trip. Lux brought over small candy marbles that she kept stored in her desk at the company, and Benedict, instructed by Hodgins, reluctantly took an expensive bottle hidden on the liquor shelf of the latterâs room.
âHey, letâs rummage through the desks of everyone in the company. There are probably gonna be other ingredients in them.â
âIf itâs Mr. Anthonyâs desk, I think thereâs definitely something in it. Mr. Anthony always gives me sweets... Weâre in a state of emergency so Iâm sure heâll forgive us for it.â
âThere were sweets in the reception guysâ desks. Would they get mad if we took them?â
âDefinitely seem like they would. But this sweet... is one of the tasty ones... I wanna eat it.â
Lux, who was still growing, and Benedict, who had missed lunch and did not have enough with just the vegetable soup, procured more food. The sweets that the hungry thieves sneaked from the company employeesâ desks turned out as what could be considered a big catch, and so, the five people trapped inside during a day of usual rain commenced a night party.
The five of different ages, genders and positions were already at a state where they could be deemed as a single family through the many incidents they had overcome and the time they had spent together. They laughed a lot, talked a lot.
âYou remember when Violet brought Lux over? She went to negotiate it directly with Old Man with so much might, like, âI have picked up a puppy. Please give me permission to raise it here. Now, hurryâ. They were holding hands and she wouldnât let go of Lux, explaining the situation all at length as if to say she wasnât gonna move until he gave the permission. The way Old Man acted so suspicious back then was a real blast.â
âI remember~! He was like, âEh, âdemigodâ? Eh, âabduction and confinementâ? Have you told the military police about that?â... President was so troubled, walking in circles around the two. It was the funniest thing of that year.â
âHum... Iâm sorry.â
âNo, no, donât apologize, Little Lux. Youâre our main player now, so you did what you could to get where you are. You really exerted yourself in this unfamiliar land. Work for us forever, âkay? Rather, for me. Little Violet does some unbelievable stuff sometimes, but she generally doesnât do anything wrong, so back then, her first-time deed shook up even someone like me, with plenty of life experience. Saying no didnât even cross my mind.â
âI knew that President Hodgins would give you a generous treatment. If I had not concluded so, I would not have done such a thing. Thank you very much for that time, President.â
âLittle Violet... Little Violetâs all grown up too, huh; youâve become a wonderful lady...â
âWell, sheâs got you as her example of guardian figure, after all.â
âI was raised by both Benedict and President Hodgins. You are my examples.â
âEh, so Iâm Old Manâs son...? Gimme the whole company.â
âNo way! Actually, youâre taking a part of the company in the future, so that much should be fine, right?â
âYou were serious about that? If you split the company...â
âYeah, Iâll be the vice-president. V, call me Vice-President Benedict.â
âBenedict will be... the vice-president?â
âViolet, you havenât been to the company too often because of work, right? Iâll stay as President Hodginsâs secretary, but some of the employees will go to Benedictâs side. Thatâs gonna be pretty lonely... Still, the company will be built inside the country, so itâll be close in terms of distance. But it wonât be the same building anymore.â
âOther people... will also be gone.â
âDid I tell you that my roleâs gonna change too?â
âI have not heard about that.â
âIâll be transferred to training the newcomers. Violet, youâll stay as you are. Well, between you and me, if we were to debate on which one should be the instructor, itâd have to be me. Iâm good at looking after others.â
âCattleya will be... an instructor...â
âIâll be here like always. The Doll department that Little Violet and the others are in will stay in the main office and youâre largely in charge of the numbers in our Doll department, so your role wonât change.â
âSounds like I donât make money when you put it like that.â
âNo, itâs not like that... Iâve been keeping the right people in the right places since long ago, right? I asked you to do this because I thought you could be everyoneâs big sis. Besides, wasnât it you, Cattleya, who immediately replied that youâd to it when I said your pay would increase if you became an instructor?â
âWell, thatâs because I donât know how long I could keep on being a Doll. Itâs a job you can do even when you get older, but walking up mountains has been hard lately. Probably because of my high heels.â
They truly laughed a lot and talked a lot.
In their feel-at-home looks, they played card games, discussed memories of their trips and laughed holding their stomachs at silly stories. The night went on and on and the heavy rain outside gradually subsided, but no one said, âLetâs go home, thenâ. Days like these were a rarity. They all knew this much.
âIâm having lots of fun today. Itâd be great if it were always like this.â The words that Cattleya muttered with a big smile spoke for everyoneâs feelings.
Whenever a fun feast reached its climax, the loneliness towards the fact that it was going to end would cross the corners of peopleâs heads. That applied not only to this day that God had granted them but also to matters in the long run.
Perhaps the company named CH Postal Company itself could also be considered a feast to the people gathered in it. âMay this dream, this fun time go on forever,â they wished.
The dream had begun with Claudia Hodgins. He then picked up Cattleya Baudelaire, Benedict Blue and Violet Evergarden.
âMake sure to just lick it. So, howâs that?â
They had built the company office building in Leidenschaftlich and started it together. As the postal business was a privatized one and the competitors were many, nobody could predict at first for how long this company would continue to exist.
âThis stings.â
A local customer then came, earning them a large-scale contract in the delivery business.
âEh~, you okay, Violet? Youâre better off as someone who canât drink...â
Their Auto-Memories Doll activities began to stand out.
âBut everyone is changing.â
âDoesnât that have nothing to do with drinking alcohol? I drink âcause I like it. If you donât, then stop.â
âThatâs right, Violet.â
âNo... Major has a taste for drinking during meals, so I had been thinking of learning to do it one day as well. You are all changing one after another whenever I blink. I have started eating with other people quite often at work as well. I, too, shall adapt...â
Along the way, a girl who would later become a brilliant secretary joined them.
âI see... Then I want to try drinking too. Iâm a secretary, after all. I have to eat out with other people. What kind of taste is it, if you had to compare?â
Despite the major changes in the personal life of each, all of them had contributed to the development of the company, to the point that they spent every single day being busy.
âClose to that of a perfume. In that it is hard to swallow.â
There would surely be many, many more changes.
âHey, I canât approve that opinion. Big Sis here will introduce you to delicious drinks. Rather than being taught by a man, you should learn from me. Lux, you canât yet.â
Surely, their fates would twist further.
âEh~?!â
âBenedict, bring another one. And something to crack it open with.â
For people to gather up, an encounter had to have happened. That was what it meant.
âAight, aight...â Benedict stood up from the sofa. He had been dragged into Cattleyaâs scheme, in which she had planned the conspiracy of attempting to make Violet Evergarden consume alcohol, because he himself had complied with it.
âO-Owah. Old Man. You were here?â
ââWere here,â you ask... this is my house.â
As they came across each other in the kitchen, Benedict had let out a brash voice without thinking. The reason might be that he perhaps was seen grinning as he walked in. Despite his nihilistic attitude, he was happy to spend time with his friends.
âI-I know. I was thinking you were taking too long in the toilet...â
âCigar.â
With the kitchenâs small window open, Hodgins was smoking a cigar. All of the women despised the smell, so he rarely ever let them see him smoking. Just when Benedict was thinking about how he had suddenly stood up and disappeared, there he was, smoking in secret.
ââHe only smokes when he canât calm down, though.
There was no better day to relax with their companions, and yet.
âHey, take a look outside. Itâs so quiet after the storm... like the wind. Even though it was so loud before.â Perhaps due to him being a little drunk, Hodginsâs face was red.
âTrue... Hey, need more booze. Ainât there anything easier to drink?â
âEh, why? You canât give it to Little Lux.â
âCattleya wants to make V drink some. Well, ainât it okay? I think itâs about time she learns the ropes. Dunno when weâll get to drink with her again... and itâs better to have people you get along with teaching you this kinda thing, right?â
âEeh... itâs still too soon. If you insist, isnât it enough to drip a drop of rum into her tea?â
âCan you even call that a drink? Make it a degree higher.â
Hodgins gave a strained smile. âHey, hey, her big brother figure shouldnât be saying this...â
âI say it because Iâm her big brother figure. I mean, weâre getting more rookies. Sheâs the highlight of our Doll department. Eating with people is part of having a big job. Before she gets involved with someone who wants to make her drink...â
âDoes this have anything to do with me telling you to be the branch manager?â
Hearing a slightly icy voice coming from the president, Benedict blinked. âNo... sorta.â
âSheâs still a child, and Iâll definitely always be with her in those kinds of places, so itâs okay. Itâs still early to teach her how to drink. Nope, nope.â
âA âchildâ, you say... well, sheâs got a childish side, but she ainât one anymore.â
âShe is â you, Cattleya and Little Lux, too, are all kids to me. Because youâre quick to do this kind of thing if I donât keep an eye on you... My, my,â Hodgins said, blowing out the tobacco smoke. Mismatched as it was for someone with such a mature appearance, Benedict could get a glimpse of childishness in him.
âYouâll keep trying to do that from now on too? Thatâs impossible; face the reality,â Benedict bit out incidentally.
Silence.
Benedictâs words were not wrong. The CH Postal Company was growing rapidly as a business. The fact that the postal company led by Salvatore Rinaudo had withdrawn from the postal industry in the previous year had a major influence in this. They now reigned at a pivotal position in Leidenschaftlichâs postal service. The CH Postal Company would soon account for nearly all of the commissions from the people living in Leidenschaftlich. Other than being busy with work affairs, there were even discussions about relocating the head office because of problems with waiting areas and break rooms due to securing new employees.
âLike, you and I are gonna get damn busy. The Auto-Memories Doll department is gonna be the main organ of the head office and my place will be ordinary mail, right? Weâll be teaching people how things go, and Iâll be doing deliveries too. Youâre the one with the busiest role. Anything and everythingâs gonna be relayed to you. Getting to be close to your employees like until now while doing all that is just...â
It was natural for a company that had become bigger to do a corporative split-off and for one of their employees to manage the branch office. Benedict was still young but had the power to bring people together. The task would not be an impossible one if they put a veteran of the head office in charge of taking over it. They could do this, Hodgins had decided, thus he came up with the proposal.
âThe regular meetings and other stuff that I take part in happen in the head office... Itâs not like we wonât get to see each other.â
âEveryone will have a different post and position. We wonât get to see each other. Same for you, Old Man.â
âIf itâs work, I can adjust it. Iâll do my best to administrate everyone so that the employees can get a time every now and then to relax like this...â
âOld Man, even if you do your best, Vâs dating that nasty-ass military officer, so wonât they get married someday? Dunno âbout it, but... thatâs why itâs impossible to always watch over us in the first place...â
Silence.
âHey, donât clam up.â
What was being thrust at Hodgins now was something that he did not want to look straight at, despite thinking about and readying himself for it. That was what he was being told.
âHodgins â hey, Old Man.â
It was something that Benedict Blue had the right to say, exactly because they had been doing everything together from the start.
âHey, donât take it in a weird way. I ainât saying this to be malicious. You left the Auto-Memories Doll department in the head office âcause your wish to watch over V is a big deal, right? I get it. Sheâs special to you.â
âThatâs not it; Iââ
âBut she wonât be a kid forever. Sheâs different from back when she started working, with you teaching her everything. Sheâs someone whoâs gonna let go of your hand one day. She ainât your real daughter or your girlfriend. Then, if you had to say what she is, at the end of the day, sheâs your employee. Youâll part ways one day. If you donât get ready for that now, will you manage to get over it if she marries into that bastardâs family and he makes her leave the company?â
âWill you manage to get over it?â The question ruminated in Hodginsâs heart.
Benedict had shot him where it hurt without mercy. He was a gun expert. His aim was precise and the bleeding made Hodgins want to hold his own chest down.
ââWill I recover if I ever have to be separated from Violet Evergarden? Hodgins pondered earnestly over the question. ââI donât know.
He truly did not know.
Bonds were things that could not easily break off once they had connected, yet reality, time and busyness unpityingly caused the existence of âfriendsâ to grow far apart.
ââTo the point that I donât know, I...
Surely, a day like this would not happen five years from now. Their place to return to amidst the rain would be somewhere else.
ââItâs not just her, but also you and everyone else.
To begin with, they might not even be working in the company itself anymore until then. More of them would fall for someone, nurture their love and move their places to be in life to their âhomesâ.
Twenty, thirty years from now, it might be hard for them to even work. Or they would not be alive â there was also that possibility.
The one who was more aware of this than anybody else was Hodgins, the oldest of them all.
ââIâm the one whoâs farthest apart in age.
That was exactly why he did not know.
âI have no idea.â
He did not want to see it. Did not want to think about it.
âI have too many things that matter to me, so I canât make a move anymore. Yâknow, you... you might aught at this, but... rather than when youâre young, getting hurt becomes scarier when you grow older. You start losing the energy to do your best and heal. Itâs tiring. Still...â
Hodgins had thought that the youth in front of him, who referred to him as âOld Manâ on a daily basis, was probably going to laugh, yet Benedict was expressionless.
âStill...â
He did nothing but listen. His posture of properly listening at times like these somewhat...
ââ...looks like Little Violet.
âStill, I know Iâm the one who has to get moving the most. Iâm getting everyone involved in the things I wanna do. Thatâs why I do what I have to. I also counted on you, because I trust you. I left it in your care. But... that and my feelings for her and you guys...â
âI get it.â
â...are different things, right? Yâknow, youâre... mean. Iâm like a foster parent to you, and yet... Even if you understand my loneliness...â
While Hodgins spoke as if bursting out, Benedict put a hand to his mouth as though to stop him. âI get it.â
Time halted completely.
Was he supporting the flustered figure of the one who was like a parent to him?
âMy bad.â
Before he had noticed, he was carrying a load of things he must protect. Was he doing this due to realizing that he had left Hodgins to chance, thinking, âThatâs because itâs himâ?
âMy bad. That just now was on me.â
Silence.
âI didnât have to pick today to say this. Isnât that right?â
âYou think Iâm being lame right now, donât you?â
âNah, you ainât all that cool in the first place.â
âThatâs a lie; Iâm a generally-acknowledged beautiful young man... no, beautiful middle-aged man.â
âYou might not be cool, but well, thatâs whatâs good about you. Right?â
Silence.
âThe cool thing about my Claudia Hodgins is his uncool side.â
Since Benedict was speaking as if to comfort a child, Hodgins told him to âshut upâ, slightly annoyed, yet burst into laughter nevertheless.
The rain caused all sorts of things to pour. The way that people were drowned by the drops trickling down from the sky inevitably made them think about something.
As dawn broke, Claudia Hodgins sat up, body heavy from not getting much sleep. When he peeked at his roomâs bed, Violet and Cattleya were sleeping wrapped in the same blanket. On the sofa, Benedict was scattered about, snoring in a way that made him want to laugh.
Hodgins looked for where Lux Sibyl might be. He went down from the third to the second floor, and then from the second to the first floor. She was nowhere to be found.
While thinking it could not be possible, Hodgins opened the front door, and sure enough, he could see the figure of a girl walking down the street towards him.
The clothes she had put to dry yesterday were surely half-wet. What was it that she wanted to do outside so badly to the point of going this far? He understood when he saw what she had in her arms.
âAh, President.â
Lux was holding a paper bag with a lot of bread in it. The amount was enough that the small girlâs face could not be seen.
âLittle Lux... could it be you went to buy us breakfast?â
Thinking back, this young woman was the kind of person who was always quick to act when she was trying to do something for someone. That was all it took to be a considerate person, but without kindness in their heart, they would not turn out this way. The reason why Hodgins had nominated her his secretary was not just that she could do any sort of work.
âThatâs so nice.â
âYes, the bakery owner is very nice. I woke up a bit too early, and when I went on a walk to see how things were outside, the bakery was just about to open and they were getting ready... I went to take a look âcause it seemed so delicious and they told me to come in.â
âAh, hm...â
âI was so touched when they said they baked bread for people who were hungry early in the morning, so I told them many thanks for selling them and bought lots of it. Itâs the bakery from that street around the corner.â
âAs expected of my secretary. Did you properly get the receipt?â
At those words, Lux showed him a smile that resembled a blooming flower. âHuhu, of course.â
For Hodgins, who had spent the night deep in thought about all sorts of things, that smile was a soothing one. It was like the water of a lake for someone who was feeling thirsty.
Hodgins wordlessly took the bag from Lux. âLittle Lux, Iâm seriously glad you came to us.â
âOnly in this kind of situation, right?â
âAll the time. Always. Little Lux, youâre still young, will probably keep working with us... and youâre such a good secretary... Iâm the happiest CEO in Leidenschaftlich.â
âAre you going to hire me for life?â
âEh?â
âIs that a no?â
âNo, I could. But thatâd mean working with me for life, yâknow?â
âIs that bad? I have nowhere else to go.â
When asked with such an innocent look, Hodgins faltered.
âI wonât say the stuff Benedict does, like wanting the company for me.â
âWell, I might... end up giving it to you if you say that, so donât ever. Hahah... Of course, keep working for us forever and always at my place. Huh, this is kinda like a marriage vow... Wanna take this opportunity and marry me in the future? Just kidding...â Upon thinking that the jest that came out incidentally was an unsavory one right after saying it, Hodgins looked at Luxâs reaction, only to find her staring back at him blankly. He had made himself into a caricature of an old man bothering a girl. âNo, it was a prank! But hey. Little Lux, you might be the only one who can go along with me, so having this kind of small talk is... I-Iâm not looking at you with dirty eyes, really! Weâre too far apart in age, after all! Weâre c-close enough that we can crack this kind of joke to each other, right?â
Lux pretended to think for just a few seconds. âHuhu, I can tell. That itâs a joke, at least. But not happening. Weâre not getting married.â
And then, she flat-out rejected him.
âAh, yes.â Although Hodgins would have been at loss if she had accepted it, his shoulders dropped somewhat.
âBut President, Iâm prepared to nurse you if you ever become unable to work.â
âDonât... suddenly thrust such a cruel reality at me.â
âEh, is it? From my point of view... this is quite a deep form of love. President, youâre the first decent adult who accepted me. Iâll devote my whole life to you.â
âLittle Lux, you sure like me a lot. Gonna marry me after all?â
This time, Lux actually grinned and replied, âIâll take that one home and consider it.â
âAmazing; that answerâs like the business talk at the company.â
âBecause youâre teasing me... even though youâre well-aware that I donât even know love yet.â
âDonât know love yetâ. The destructive power of those words caused Hodgins to regret his lighthearted proposal a little.
âThen, Iâll ask again in about five years. I should be at a nice middle age by then.â
âYou say that, President, but youâre going on a trip with some hottie next week. I know it.â
The duo, who somehow seemed like they would or other be hanging together for a long time, returned to the office with bouncing chatter.
In order to make breakfast for everyone together, Hodgins and Lux stood in the kitchen by themselves.
Besides the already-baked bread, they would need drinks and vegetables. Those were merely simple preliminary preparations, but Hodgins felt that just this was somehow enjoyable, unlike doing the work on his own.
âPresident, you have yours with one sugar cube and a slice of lemon, right?â
âAnd for Little Lux, itâs two sugar cubes with milk, yeah? I know it.â
While arranging the bread on a plate, they also poured water over the tealeaves and left them to steam. Perhaps due to the scenery that could be seen from the kitchenâs small window being a blue sky with not a single cloud in it, it was awfully dazzling.
âGood morning.â
The next person who appeared amidst the morning sunlight was Violet. Her soft golden hair was just a bit disheveled. Hodginsâs hand naturally reached out to it.
âMorning... Youâve got a bedhead, Little Violet.â
âExcuse me...â Violet looked back at Hodgins as he caressed her head, seeming a little embarrassed. Her eyes were just slightly red. She might have not been able to sleep very well.
âMorning, Violet. Are Cattleya and Benedict also up?â
âBenedict was awake until a while ago, but when I got up from the bed, he began sleeping again by Cattleyaâs side.â
âMorally speaking, itâs that kinda thing. Iâll go give him a warning.â
Hodgins laughed a little, seeing Lux off as she walked away while rotating her tiny shoulders. He then turned his gaze back to Violet. Her bedhead, which he had supposedly fixed with the caressing, had returned. For some reason, both of them being alone like this in a kitchen bathed in morning sunlight struck him as extremely peculiar.
Just the two of them, having such a tender time. How many more opportunities would they have for that?
They were already at it. He should talk about something. That was what Hodgins thought, but the words did not come out of him. Not because he had no topic to discuss. He could come up with as many things to talk about as he wanted, such wanting flowers to decorate the table or that they would surely have many customers today who were unable to come yesterday.
But he did not want to spoil this morning. He felt that it might crumble if he spoke even one sentence.
Violet was there. She had her blue eyes directed his way, looking at him. It was no longer awkward for the two of them to stay silent. That was their relationship.
Perhaps still sleepy, she was in a haze. He wanted to watch her standing amidst this gentle time for a little longer.
As she would usually always seem wide-awake, Hodgins believed that she was laidback to this extent due to being in the presence of people with whom she could be at ease from the bottom of her heart. That he had played a part in this feeling of security of hers.
ââWill you forget one day?
One day, the position that Claudia Hodgins occupied in the life of Violet Evergarden would become smaller.
ââShe only gets bigger on my end, though.
Going to the hospital numerous times. Pushing her wheelchair. Giving her a notebook and teaching her how to write.
ââI for sure canât forget. These moments, days, everything like this with you.
The fact that he had not stopped her from fighting in the war. That he had thought they could use her.
ââI canât forget.
Delivering to Violet an outfit that could hide her prosthetic arms, yet that would also make her look her most beautiful.
ââIâm sure I wonât forget about this morning either.
About that quiet morning, which was much like the one from before everyone was caught in the great storm and barged in.
Hodgins touched Violetâs hair again. Although she had told Benedict not to touch it, with Hodgins, she all but slightly left a strand in his handâs care and let him take it, almost like how a cat would do.
ââAah, I want to hug you.
He was not in love with her. That would never be the case.
However, if she were his real daughter, on days like these, mornings like these, he would have easily said, âGood morning, preciousâ and embraced her.
âI had a dream, President Hodgins,â Violet whispered out of the blue with a freshly awake, faintly hoarse voice.
âDream...?â
The stunning young woman, who was no longer a girl, talked about her dream like a child, âYes; in the dream... you owned a clothing store.â
âHuhu, that so?â
âI cannot make clothes. You told me that you did not need me, President Hodgins, if I could not make clothes...â
âThatâs horrible of me, huh.â
âEven when I said I could polish the shoes, clean up or do anything, you did not listen...â
Unlike the real one, the dream version of Hodgins had apparently chosen to part ways with Violet.
âLittle Violet, what did you do about that?â
âI asked countless times. However, you rejected it countless times. I thought about standing in front of the shop until you allowed me in, but it started raining like yesterday.â
âHm. And then?â
âMajor Gilbert came to pick me up and told me to come home with him, but...â
âHm.â
âI waited for President to come out of the store even as the lights went out.â
âHm.â
âDespite waiting and waiting, President Hodgins did not come out, and at some point, a passerby told me, âThis shop has movedâ.â
âEven though it was open until just a moment ago?â
âIt was a dream, after all... And then â and then, I asked where it was and went after it. Benedict and Cattleya also appeared in-between, but they seemed to have other things to do, saying they would come after me later... As for Lux, she was the only one who had been hired by you from the very beginning, so she also asked you to hire me again, but in the end, you said no could do.â
âHm...â Suddenly, Hodgins felt so pained about everything that it was hard to breathe. âAnd then, Little Violet, what did you do...?â His hand reached out to Violet.
âI kept looking at the interior of the store beyond the shop window from outside.â
Not towards her head, but towards her eyes, where her golden lashes fluttered like the wings of a fairy.
âInside it, many people â people that I know and do not know â came and left... showing how lively the shop was.â
A sea had silently formed in them, which dissolved and disappeared once Hodginsâs index finger touched it.
âMajor came to pick me up for the nth time and said you had told him that my standing there was causing him problems. But, for whatever reason, I at the very least knew that if I stepped away from there even for a moment, you would never let me in... therefore, I could not comply. But I did not want to trouble you, President, so I was unable to make a decision... I attempted to ask Major for instructions, but he was also gone before I realized.â
The sea â the teardrop â turned into a pearl and slipped down her cheek.
âI... I... ended up crying.â Violet stared at the sky, the look in her eyes seeming almost as if the scene from her dream was there at this very moment. âTo think I would cry like that...â
âHm.â
âThat was why President Hodgins would not hire me, I thought... And also why Major had grown tired and left.â
âHm.â
âThen, without my notice, you came outside. You looked the same as that post-war day when you went to visit me at the hospital. You were very surprised with my appearance, as I was soaked with mud and rain. And so, you said this: âGuess weâll start with how to hold a needleâ. You told me that you had not invited me for the new job because it would surely be difficult with these hands of mine, so I was extremely relieved... Then, then...â Violetâs words cut off at once.
Unable to hold himself back, Hodgins pulled her into an embrace as if shoving her little head into his chest.
While being embraced, Violet said with eyes that looked as though she was still dreaming, â...with some effort, I could still be helpful. I was able to confirm this, after all.â
Hearing her let out a relieved sigh in his arms, Hodgins forgot about both his and Violetâs positions, clasping her to his chest very, very firmly. âYou sure are helpful... Was there anything about me that made you feel uncertain?â Upon realizing that his voice sounded tearful, Hodgins allowed the tears to overflow at the truth.
ââAah, Iâm such an idiot. Got caught up in it and ended up crying too.
As the girl whom he thought of as his own daughter, despite her being an actual adult, had shed tears, he found himself crying along with her. Almost like a child. Even though he was supposed to conduct himself as an elder in this situation.
âI do not know.â
âBut, has anything like that ever happened until now...? You had that dream because you were uneasy.â
ââUneasyâ... That might have been the case. Yesterday night, I came to know that many things were progressing while I was away, so I have the feeling that I was quite agitated.â
âSorry; we were doing things on our own accord. Even though weâve been together since the founding.â
âNo, I am often absent, and it is only natural for some things to be decided in the meantime. I am an employee. I feel that your judgement is correct. Employees must correspond to the changes of a company. My surroundings are about to change significantly. I am grateful to you, President, for letting me be here like always. However...â
ââHoweverâ...?â
âHowever, I do not know if I can cope with it. With the matters regarding Major, the ones regarding the company... with the fact that Benedict will be going to a different office building. When I think about these things...â
âItâs okay.â
âWhen I think about them, I realize that the number of things I should prioritize has increased too much.â
âLittle Violet.â
âThe order of priorities...â
âItâs all right.â
âI have to deal with situations of every kind as I live, and yet...â
ââSurely, Violet Evergarden wouldnât be alive if she didnât do that.
Always, at all times.
She had been living through corresponding to her surroundings despite being at loss regarding its circumstances, putting everything she could do to use while looking for a place to belong and an adult who would take care of her. She was not allowed to waver. For beasts, hesitation was death.
Violet did not know unconditional love. She now had at last earned herself this warm place through her efforts, but it was about to suffer a rapid change with the course of time.
After running, running and running, Violet â previously one such beast â was watching the nest she had finally found crumble down. Even when people knew they had to prepare to start running again, there would come a time when they would be short of breath and unable to move.
Violet had gone from wild animal to person.
Her human parts and animal parts co-existed, occasionally revealing themselves. When she was the animal, she simply did not mind how much a place changed as long as she could live in it. However, it was difficult to live while holding something better, more important.
Now that she had become a person through the increasing of her emotions...
âI shall fight. I can always be of use. President Hodgins, please forget this aspect of me that I just showed you.â
...she had turned into just a girl who was a little bit scared of the future.
âPlease... forget about it.â
Who had made her this way? Gilbert was likely the first, but the ones who had done the finishing touches were definitely all the people in this place.
âNo way, Iâm not forgetting.â
At Hodginsâs words, Violet lowered her eyebrows, looking troubled.
âDonât make a face like that; Iâm not teasing. I meant to say that you donât need to worry about it. You indeed mightâve gotten weak. But is that a bad thing? You had nothing when you met me for the first time. Not even your brooch, right...? But now you have lots of things. You went on a journey for a long time and got more stuff to shoulder while you were at it, so itâs no wonder that youâd end up in a dilemma.â Albeit knowing that Cattleya, Benedict and Lux were looking at them in shock from the shadows at the doorway, Hodgins went on, âYou know... life is a journey. Little Violet, youâll go on this journey, wonât you?â
He had already forgotten about his anxiety. The feeling of frustration at such things and the overwhelming wish to cling to someone were now gone.
âYou started your journey with a little less luggage than other people, so youâre staring at your bag now that itâs gotten a bit heavy, wondering what happened to it. You donât know what to throw away anymore.â
He was able to think, from the depths of his heart, that he had returned to his usual self. While embracing her, who was indeed still young and confused in the middle of her journey, he was finally able to think so.
âYou need clothes and money, of course, and good shoes are vital. Right, and an umbrella too. When you look into your bag and realize that you actually have nothing that you can get rid of, itâs indeed a problem. Even though itâs a hassle because itâs so heavy. What do you think you should do?â
He could still be useful.
âTrain... my physical strength... No, calibrate my prosthetics...â
He was still needed.
âYouâre such a fool... Either leave it in someoneâs care and continue the journey or have someone take half of it.â
Even if it were only for a short while.
âGilbert will probably take half of the luggage. I can take care of the rest that you canât carry over here. Iâll be in Leidenschaftlich forever, after all. Little Violet, no matter where you go, Iâll stay here and wait for you to come back, and no matter when you come over, Iâll welcome you. Iâll take care of the contents of your bag with pleasure.â
ââEven if you only remember me a few times a year someday...
âListen up: whenever youâre troubled, remember that Iâm here. And then youâll be able to go on a journey again anytime.â
ââ...Iâll ready myself to welcome you at any time of the year.
âAm I really supposed to leave my luggage here?â
ââIâm the kind of man who can do that, and you need it for sure.
âHm-hm, thatâs not it. Yâsee, this is about memories. All you have to do is to know. That Iâm here. This is the way to make your luggage lighter. Whenever youâre having problems, bam, remember me. If you do that, the worries you have now will definitely decrease a little. Yâknow, at the end of the day... peopleâs place to come home to arenât places, theyâre âsomebodyâ. You should know that much. Youâd have gone to any battlefield if Gilbert was there, right? Someday, yes, you might quit being an Auto-Memories Doll. You might not come back to Leidenschaftlich.â
ââItâll be great if this âsomedayâ never comes, though.
âBut your current memories are with me. Iâll be a representation of them. So that you, my dear... will be able to open your memories anytime. When this moment right now becomes nostalgic to you, come see me. Iâll always be here. Waiting for you. Youâre feeling âlonelyâ right now. But... Little Violet. You have me. Youâre not alone.â
ââI want you to remember.
âI do not understand very well... However...â
ââIâm always protecting you.
â...you have always guided me.â
ââWaiting for your return.
âI never doubt your word.â
ââIâll be waiting here.
âBut, President Hodgins, I have only one wish.â
ââI want you to show up when your journey ends.
Deciding to deal with the sobbing coming from behind the door later, Hodgins opted for staying like this for just a bit longer. Her lover might get angry if he saw it, but he had the right to do it, at least to some extent. After all, she was Claudia Hodginsâs dear employee.
Hodgins asked with a particularly gentle tone, âWhat would it be, Little Violet?â
Violet blinked and looked up at Hodgins. The last drop spilled from her eyes.
âIf, only if... there comes a time when you will quit the postal company and start doing something else...â
âHm.â
â...please call me. No matter where you are, I will rush to you.â
âHm.â
âI will definitely be of help... Even if not, should your luggage become too much, please call me when you need someone to carry it for you. I shall hasten to visit you.â
âFor real?â
âYes. I, too, will carry Presidentâs luggage. You should know it. I am strong.â
âHuhu, yep, definitely. One day, youâll understand what I mean by âluggageâ. Hey...â
No one would imagine that a single drop could be the start of something so big. However, it would earn itself great meaning after a while passed. Should it continue pouring, it could also summon boundless blessings and curses.
âHiya, Iâm Hodgins. Whatâs your name?â
Silence.
âThis kidâs such a taciturn.â
âShe... doesnât have a name yet. Sheâs an orphan with no education. Canât talk either.â
âThatâs so terrible of you. Sheâs such a beauty. Just give a name worthy of her.â
âLittle Violet, thanks for meeting me.â
Love was almost like rain.

a comprehensive list of every never before seen hadestown lyric revealed in âworking on a songâ
Note: This list will not include any lyrics from the OBCR, Broadway previews documented in audios, the London run, the Edmonton run, or the NYTW run. Only lyrics that AnaĂŻs has never revealed before. Also, I strongly recommend everyone actually read the book and support AnaĂŻs! It has amazing insights into the show we love.Â
(Also, any ellipses mean the song just goes into the lyrics we already know)
Wedding Song
In early Vermont productions, Wedding Song did not exist; there was another duet called Everything Written.
Fates: Seven Sisters / Little Dipper / Great Bear, Hunter / Drinking Gourd / Libra, Leo / Pisces, Pluto / Venus, Virgo / Capricorn
Eurydice: Donât it make, donât it make you feel so small? / Orpheus, when you look up at it all? / When I look into the skies / I lose my head for scale and size / And still youâre larger in my eyes / Than any star / You pull on me like gravity / I want to be where you are
They say that everything is written / Everything written in those stars / The very lives weâre living / The very love in our hearts
Orpheus: Who could write, who could write this kind if love? / From such a height, all these light-years up above? / And all these light-years down below / I donât need any star to show me / What my heart already knows / Eurydice / You pull on me like gravity / I want to be where you are
Eurydice: Come here
Orpheus: Iâm here
Eurydice: Itâs so cold
Orpheus: So clear
Eurydice: Itâs so dark
Orpheus: So fair
Eurydice: Come near
Orpheus: Iâm here
Eurydice: Youâre there
A workshop version of Wedding Song included this exchange:
Eurydice: You have a way with words donât you? Itâs too bad none of them are true
Orpheus: Itâs not a lie- Itâs poetry
Eurydice: How many mouths does a poem feed?
Epic I
From 2007 Vermont:
Orpheus: King of diamonds, king of spades! / First there was Hades, king of the dirt / Miners of mines, diggers of graves / They bowed down to Hades who gave them work /Â And they bowed down to Hades who made them sweat / Who paid them their wages and set them about / Digging and dredging and dragging the depths / Of the Earth to turn its insides out / Singing la la la la la la la...
Then came Persephone, Hadesâs wife / Our Lady of Shadows and Meadows entwined / Made to spend half of the days of her life / Right alongside of him down in the mine / But the other half she could walk in the sun / And the sun in turn burned half as bright / Which is where the seasons come from / And with them the cycle / Of the seed and the sickle / And the lives of the people / And the birds in their flight / Singing la la la la la la la...
So it was and it might have stayed / And the sun came up and the sun went down / A circle of fourths, a perfect cadence / The serpentâs tail in the serpentâs mouth / But the strong will take what they want to take / And the weak can only tell the tale / And the king began to lay his heavy hand upon the scale / What did he want? He wanted Our Lady / To have and to hold, not half, but wholly / To love him and never to leave him again / And as for the seasons, to hell with them! / And the earth warmed over in the dead of winter / The stillborn spring lay cold beneath /Â Summer gave a stormy sermon / Autumn walked in the wake with a wreath / And the people moved like weather patterns / Looking for shelter, looking for warmth / Helter-skelter the four winds scattered / The scavengers over the ravaged earth / Singing la la la la la la la...
From a workshop, presumably pre-London:
Hermes: Orpheus was a poor boy / But he had a gift to give / There was one song heâd been working on / He could never seem to finish / A song about this broken world / That he rewrote again and again / As though if he could find the words / He could fix the world with them
Livinâ It Up On Top
From pre-NYTW workshops:
Persephone: A hundred sunny summer days / Till my lover comes to find me / A hundred blooming olive trees / And a hundred grapevines climbing / Singing songs when the sun goes down / Light the fire in the darkness / Brother, pass that bottle around / And weâll raise a glass to the harvest, itâs / Just enough fruit for the pressing / Just enough wine to fill our cups / But what we have is a blessing / It isnât much but itâs enough
Eurydice: A hundred starry summer nights / Since my lover came and found me / Picking fruit and hopping freights / With his music all around me / Stay up late making love / All the stars are naked / Talking sweet and sleeping rough / Our bed is where we make it, thereâs / Just enough fruit for the pressing...
Way Down Hadestown
From when AnaĂŻs was 21, long before the show was even a concept:
Follow that dollar for a long way down / Far away from the poorhouse door / You either get to hell or a border town / Ainât no difference anymore...
Suckinâ on the gristle and chewinâ on the bone / Thinkinâ âbout missiles and the old Dow Jones / All alone on your chromium throne /And lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely...
From 2006:
Persephone: Though Iâm happy at his side / Heâs not an easy man to love / I used to keep him satisfied / But lately he canât get enough / Never enough of the mine and the mill / Never enough of his working girls / Never enough of the wall heâs building / All around the underworld / Way down Hadestown...
Orpheus: Mr. Hades is slick as an eel / Fountain pen, crocodile shoes / Quick as a snake, and heâs hot on your heels / Heâll make you an offer that you canât refuse! / Way down Hadestown...
Hermes: Speak of the devil and the devil comes / Here comes Mister Hades now / To gather up his chosen ones / And bring âem down to Hadestown / Way down Hadestown...
From 2007:
Hermes: Make room, make room for Hermes, sir! / Make a little room for Hermes, maâam / They call me a messenger / But that ainât half of who I amÂ
Iâm a man of influence / Iâm connected up and down / And I got all the documents / You need to get to Hadestown / Way down Hadestown...
Tired of walking in your worn-out shoes? / Tired of running on nothing at all? / Tired of standing your bets to lose? / Tired of losing? Give me a call, weâll go... / Way down Hadestown...
Orpheus: Mister Hades got an iron fist / Step outta line and heâll have your head / In the blink of an eye, with a flick of the wrist
Hermes: Hang around here and starve instead!
Orpheus: Itâs a cattle pen!
Hermes: Itâs a feeding trough!
Orpheus: Heâll fatten you up just to cut you down! / Iâd rather starve
Hermes: Iâd rather stuff my pockets down in Hadestown! / Way down Hadestown...
Hey, Little Songbird
AnaĂŻs says she tried out this line in 2017 to include a more explicit âjob offerâ in the wake of the MeToo movement:
Hades: Hey, little songbird, gimme a song / Iâm a busy man, and I canât stay long / Iâve got clients to call, Iâve got orders to fill / Iâve got millions of souls on my payroll, but hell / I could fit you as well if you wanted
When the Chips are Down
From Vermont, 2006:
Fates: Cross my palm! Grease my chin / Canât you see the kind of shape youâre in? / What you gonna do... ?
Wait For Me
From Vermont, 2007:
(These exchanges intercut the chorus)
Hades: Hermes! / Hermes: Hades! / Hades: Back in town! / Please, sit down / Please, relax / Youâve been around the world and back / Havenât you, Hermes? / Hermes: I have / Hades: Howâs the weather? / Hermes: Worse than ever / Howâs your wife? / Hades: My wife is fine / Hermes: Youâve been spending a lot of time together / Havenât you, Hades?
Hades: What have you brought? / Hermes: The latest crop / Hades: The freshest cut? / Hermes: A cut above / Hades: How many of them, a lot? / Hermes: A lot / Hades: A few too many perhaps / Whatâs this? / Why have you brought me Orpheus? / I know I never ordered that / It seems youâve gone behind my back / Havenât you, Hermes?
Hades: What was that? / Hermes: What was what? / Hades: I heard a voice / Hermes: I heard it not / Hades: Someone singing / Hermes: I heard nothing / Hades: Some kind of song / Hermes: You could be wrong / It could have been the wind / Hades: The wind? / Hermes: It could have been the rain / Hades: The rain? / Hermes: It could have been the train... (the train / the train / the train / the train...)
From âan early cutting room floor versionâ:
Fates: One (one, one) / You forget the sun
Eurydice: I forget the sun
Fates: You forget where you come from / You forget the sun
Eurydice: I forget the sun
Fates: Two (two, two)
Why We Build the Wall
Pre-NYTW:
Hermes: A lot can happen behind closed doors / With the big boss and his fountain pen / A lot of dirty deals go down / When there ainât nobody watching...
Our Lady of the Underground
The 2006 version of the song was called âA Crack in the Wallâ and these were the lyrics:
Persephone: Come and see the stars! / Theyâre fixin to fall / Slidinâ and a-slippingâ / In their gravity shoes / Old Man Mars / Taking Venus to the ball / Big dipper dippinâ / To the blue-sky blues
Have you forgot? / Which was is up? / I think youâll find / I have just the thing for you / Put a quarter in the slot / You can fill your loving cup / With a little bit of moonshine / From the pay-per-view
How selfless! / The silent moon / Holding a mirror / For an ungrateful sun / Hey, Orpheus! / Are you leaving so soon? / Every night around here / Is a fateful oneÂ
Maybe you got blindsided / Lost your papers! / Lost your mind! / Maybe you once lost an angel / Just to watch her fall / Look a little closer and / The water turns to wine / Look a little closer: thereâs a crack in the wall!
So I raise my cup / To the stars in the sky / If you want a show / Go on, get in line / Step right up brothers / Donât be shy / What the boss donât know / The boss wonât mind
Way Down Hadestown (Reprise)
A 2013 version of this song was called âNo One Now,â delivered to Orpheus, and these are the lyrics:
Fates: Used to be a blushing bride / That was on the other side / Better to forget her face / Now sheâs like the rest of us / One more number in a crowd / Maybe she was someone once / She ainât no one now
Used to be a loving wife / That was in another life / Carve it on a marble stone / Now sheâs like the rest of us / One more body in the ground / Maybe she was someone once / She ainât no one now
Brother donât you think we all / Used to have a name to call? / A tale to tell as well as her? / Now sheâs like the rest of us...
Maybe when she first arrived / So alive, so naive / All the bright lights in her eyes / All her insides fluttering (alt. Heart aflutter on her sleeve) / Maybe she was someone then / Back when Hades drew her in / Like a moth into his flame / Borne aloft on burning wings / Well she ainât the first and she ainât the last / Hadesâ fire is hot and fast / Just ask all the other girls / Sweeping up the ashes in the underworld / See even when the flame is new / She doesnât hold a candle to / The woman Hades truly loves / So maybe she was someone once / But now sheâs like the rest of us / All used up, all burned out / Maybe she was someone once / She ainât no one now
From the Dartmouth workshop:
Hermes (to Orpheus): If you wanna get around down here in the tank / Down here in the clink / Down here in the hole / You got to think the way they think / Which is to say, your mind is blank / Which is to say, donât think at all / Come / Iâll show you how itâs doneÂ
Welcome to the skeleton crew! / Welcome to the chain gang, kid / Lemme introduce you to / The members of the working dead / Old Jack Hammer! / Mister Miner / Wandering forever in the catacombs / Working on a hole to China / Digginâ up them dino bones / Way down...
Sweatshop Sally! Missus Miller! / Workinâ in the cellar where the sun donât shine / Sad eyed little Cinderella / Sweeping up the ashes of the summertime / Used to be one a the bossâs pets / Now sheâs just another stiff / One night in the bossâs bed / And a lifetime on the graveyard shift / Way down...
Flowers
Did not exist in Vermont, but there was a brief reprise of âEverything Writtenâ:Â
Eurydice: If itâs me- if itâs me youâre looking for / Orpheus, I canât be with you anymore
Fates: She signed in blood / She signed for good
Eurydice: I signed before I understood / And Iâd unsign it if I could / But itâs too late / They say that everything is written / Everything is written in those stars / Even these lives weâre living / Even this love
Fates: Seven sisters...
Papers
Pre-NYTW:
Hades: Let me see your papers, son / Let me see your documents / Or could it be that you have none? / Youâre on the wrong side of the fence...
If Itâs True
Pre-concept album:
Orpheus: If itâs true what they say / If thereâs nothing to be done / If thereâs no part left to play / If thereâs no song to be sung / If itâs true what they say / If thereâs no stone left to turn / If thereâs no prayer left to pray / If thereâs no bridge left to burn / If itâs true what they say / Iâll be on my way / If itâs true what they say / Then I have lived a lie / They can take the sky away / Take the stars out of my eyes / And my face will be a mask / And my heart will be a stone / And Iâll throw away the past / And Iâll go away alone...
How Long?
Pre-concept album:
Persephone (to Hermes): Brother Hermes, god of speed / Put your feathers on his feet / Hasten his delivery / Keep him hale and whole / Brother, Iâm a jaded woman / But thereâs something in his singing / And it feels like spring a-cominâ / To the winter of my soulÂ
Brother Hermes, god of speed / Put your feathers on his feet / Hasten his delivery / Keep him safe and sound / He reminds me of the lover / That I was when I was younger / Back before my heart went under / Undercover / Underground
Chant (Reprise)
Dartmouth Workshop, 2014:
Hades: And in this symphony of mine / Are power chords and power lines / Which I arrange and orchestrate / And every day I dedicate / The magnum opus of my life / To my unkind, ungrateful wife / Persephone, and she shall see / Her name in lights on my marquee / And every night, another show / My symphony will never close! / And she shall have a front row seat / Which she shall never, ever leave! / Young man, you can strum your lyre...
Epic III
Vermont:
Orpheus: The strong will take what they want to take / And the weak can only tell the tale / And the heart of the king loves everything / Like the hammer loves the nail
The heart of the king is iron and steel / The heart of the king is the color of rust / The heart of the king is soldered and sealed / The heart of the king is a tinderbox / That he has to keep under lock and key / That it not catch fire inside his chest / Cos a loverâs desire is a mutiny / A loverâs desire is a wildernessÂ
But even that hardest of hearts unhardened...
(I just have to say I fucking love this imagery of a fire oh my god)
Loverâs Desire
AnaĂŻs once set the original Loverâs Desire melody to lyrics around the area of Wedding Song:
Orpheus: Lover, can you hear me? / Iâm asking for your hand / Your hand for better or for worse / Forever / Whether youâre sick or well / For rich or poorer, to have and to hold for as / Long as we both shall live
Eurydice: Lover, can you hear me? / Iâm asking for a hand / A hand thatâs steady and strong / To lean on / To catch me if I fall / Thatâs the hand that Iâll have and Iâll hold for as / Long as we both shall live
Word to the Wise
Early workshops:
Fates: Hey / Hey / Hey / Itâs judgement day! / Are you gonna let âem just walk away? / What you gonna do... ?
Wait For Me (Reprise)
Vermont:
Hades: Hermes!
Hermes: Hades!
Hades: Time to go / Time to bring this to a close / Time to lay this thing to restÂ
Hermes: Orpheus?
Hades: Orpheus / Itâs all agreed / Weâve struck a deal / Heâs free
Hermes: Heâs free?
Hades: Heâs free to walk
Hermes: And she?
Hades: To follow at his heel / And she, to follow at his back
Eurydice: Wait for me, Iâm coming...
Hades: And she shall follow at his back / And she shall follow in his wake
Hermes: And whatâs the catch?
Hades: The catch is this: / He shall not turn to see her face / And if he turns, the game is up / The deal is off, his race is run / And thatâs the end of Orpheus / Youâll see it done?
Eurydice: Wait for me, Iâm coming...
Written at an unspecified time but never used:
Hermes: A poor boy and a hungry young girl / Walking single file / While the music played / Brother, they looked for all the world / Like they was walking down the aisle / On their wedding day
We Raise Our Cups
The show once ended with an alternate song called âCloud Machineâ in Vermont, the lyrics of which AnaĂŻs says she is embarrassed by:
Orpheus: What have I done? Mother, what have I done? / Squandered the gift that you gave me / Gambled with Hades and Hades won / And thereâs no song now that can save meÂ
Mother, I failed! Oh Mother, I tried / And I fell like a fool would fall / And I left my love / On the other side / On the other side of the wall
(Alt. Thereâs a crack in the wall / Itâs a little bit wider / Itâs a little bit wider, thatâs all)
Persephone: Come, my son, donât take it so hard / Everything is forgiven / You have done naught / But to play out the part / That the Fates in their wisdom have written
Orpheus: Raise up the curtain! The crowd goes wild! / The Fates are drunken clowns / All of us dreamers are walking the wire / While they juggle our dream aroundÂ
Apollo, come down in your cloud machine / Apollo, come swallowing fire / With your thunder and lightning and kerosene / For the Fates and their funeral pyre
Persephone: Come, my son, we try and we fail / Every tail has an end
But the pale dawn breaks / And the snake eats itâs tail / And the tale begins again...

perhaps a small meta like thing i wanted to write and share on robb. I was thinking about that very haunting and pivotal moment in ASOS, when rickard karstark a loyal man of robb and starks killed the two prisoner/wards kids from lannister family when he realised catelyn released jaime. Catelyn releasing him is different and a very realistically emotional thing but robb acting and defending his mother when rickard says It was Lady Catelyn who was responsible for murder of the two kids....he just slaughtered in sleep and dark of their cells (reeks of bit sexism and misogyny tbh). Not realising however that jaime wasn't gonna get killed anyways that to by rickard or Robb was never gonna let them hurt him. basically so if karstark was avenging his sons...who died in battle with Robb, it is understandable but this was rickard's individualistic revenge - he was fighting for robb too. For North and for Starks and for his KING. i never understood how he killed two children but thats not the concern really. It is how robb reacts to murder of two children by karstark which is so foolish and stupid and honestly cruel considering his revenge was not gonna succeed anyways when jaime had...already escaped (and no omg cat wasn't responsible for karstark betrayal). And then Robb says, "
"I owe their fathers truth," said Robb. "And justice. I owe them that as well." He gazed at his crown, the dark gleam of bronze, the circle of iron swords. "Lord Rickard defied me. Betrayed me. I have no choice but to condemn him.
He made up his mind anyways to execute karstark not for betrayal but also for justice. Poetic Justice maybe...but the entire scene of rickard karstarks execution is very hauntingly beautiful however uneasy and eerie, and you see robb from Cats POV doing something from his own hands himself. The imagery and environmental gloom is perfect. Even weather grrm wrote like, was hauntingly unsettling.
Lord Rickard's fought at my side in half a dozen battles. His sons died for me in the Whispering Wood. Tion Frey and Willem Lannister were my enemies. Yet now I have to kill my dead friends' father for their sakes." He looked at them all. "Will the Lannisters thank me for Lord Rickard's head? Will the Freys?"
He obviously knew, the death of karstark's liege lord will earn him worse betrayals and series of more unfortunate events,, yet he still in despair asks brynden and others, that freys and lannisters will obviously not thank him for this. Infact they repaid him worse.
How then can you call this vengeance? This was folly, and bloody murder. Your sons died honorably on a battlefield, with swords in their hands.â
I wanted to describe the scene which is so poetic. But the fact that there is constant thunder and rain can highlight the fact that it was or can be synonymous to misery and death and...robbs ultimate betrayal when karstarks leave in the night same day. Catelyn described the weather outside as,
"Outside the thunder crashed and boomed, so loud it sounded as if the castle were coming down about their ears. Is this the sound of a kingdom falling? Catelyn wondered"
In the next sentence u see, robb more mature and dauntless when he decides he will execute rickard, "Robb reached down with both hands, lifted the heavy bronze-and-iron crown, and set it back atop his head, and suddenly he was a king again. âLord Rickard dies.â
(also makes me mention how ppl criticise dany too mostly from the got show, but in books why she kills people, i think....if u put yourself in those historical framework and mentality of medieval society with loyalties and devotion tied to each other whether based on federalism or personal love, betrayal and treachery or going behind a king or queens back doesn't...go unpunished. Treason never goes unpunished when we also think of jon snow executing janos and robb with karstark. You have to realise emotions of both people. the one who carries sentence and one who dies.)
Back to the scenic description i found in this chapter. Catelyn again talks about weather and i absolutely loved contrast bw the weather and grimness of it and an execution soon to be carried in godswood,
"When day broke, grey and chilly, the storm had diminished to a steady, soaking rain, yet even so the godswood was crowded. River lords and northmen, highborn and low, knights and sellswords and stableboys, they stood amongst the trees to see the end of the nightâs dark dance."
"Robb flung the poleaxe down in disgust, and turned wordless to the heart tree. He stood shaking with his hands half-clenched and the rain running down his cheeks. Gods forgive him, Catelyn prayed in silence. He is only a boy, and he had no other choice"
I think the rain is perfect thing. the way it is pouring down and then previously it was mentioned how remaining men who took part in killing young boys of lannisters with karstark were hung from trees ...but their faces were darkened and washed and grrm mentions this a lot everytime he mentions a depressing scene with death and ppl hanging from trees esp when lady stoneheart or brothers without banners or brienne and pod encounter people hanged. Its also sooo haunting how karstark was executed in front of heart tree and godswood...by hands of Robb as well (similar to what ned said that man who passes sentence will swing the sword so he knows what he feels too and robb did it last moment too)
" That was the last she saw of her son that day "
This line by catelyn also describes horror of war and how young people like robb in this case are dragged into the lords game of thrones, sometimes half-heartedly sometimes intentionally she describes how war is affecting her son who is after all a boy.
".....rain continued all through the morning, lashing the surface of the rivers and turning the godswood grass into mud and puddles"
This weather is same as it was described and was on the day or eve of when Catelyn and robb along with edmure were making for the Twins and and something more horrific which was about to unfold there as well ( red wedding ) and on their way to twins the rain is mercilessly beating and falling too.
Last i wanna mention is day when robb and his men with Catelyn made for the Twins for wedding and weather was same miserable since last time it was when karstark was executed...which I was thinking DOES point to robbs failure and demise in the end as weather has a lot of impact on story and so does the ice and fire contrast that has always been made where winters and cold winds welcome the coming of darkness and enemy force in this case the Others, and fire reflects passion, warmth and hope for me in passages. prob why i love mention of dany and her dragons because they do represent an entirely different aura and hope against the dread that is building on the Wall and beyond it for coming of the actual-evil-forces the Others.
This is how perfectly the differences bw robbs victory in Whispering wood taken as sign of pride and hope is mentioned with --> emphasis on how warm the weather was, and now their travel to the Twins for red wedding as --> rain, mud, puddle, banks overflowing, their stark banners flooded and hanging down (another excellent indication for how house stark did have their back and strength broken after the wedding hence banner hanging low, or when arya later travels to twins and sees the banners on fire due to the massacre taking place...)
"..As the gods would have it, their route took them through the Whispering Wood where Robb had won his first great victory. They followed the course of the twisting stream on the floor of that pinched narrow valley, much as Jaime Lannisterâs men had done that fateful night. It was warmer then, Catelyn remembered, the trees were still green, and the stream did not overflow its banks. Fallen leaves choked the flow now and lay in sodden snarls among the rocks and roots, and the trees that had once hidden Robbâs army had exchanged their green raiment for leaves of dull gold spotted with brown, and a red that reminded her of rust and dry blood"

Inukag AU
As Inuyasha and Kagome cut through a park on their way back to the Higurashi home, they chatted casually, just winding down after a hearty lunch at a nearby cafe. The couple stayed to the pathways traversing the manicured park. It would be shorter to cut through the grass, but why the rush? It was a beautiful location, with a several different kinds of trees dotting the landscape to provide shade and lots of open space for all kinds of activities. Some picnicked, flew kites or played frisbee, theyâd even passed a group doing Tai Chi. There were young families to older citizens enjoying the scenery. The couples conjoined hands and twined fingers swayed lazily back and forth between them. Despite the summer heat starting to rise in Tokyo, with blue skies and a gentle breeze brought in from the Pacific Ocean, it was a perfect day for a stroll.
While this journey towards normalcy hasnât always been an easy one, the past couple of months have been the happiest so far. Ever since leaving the hospital Kagomeâs felt better and better. There were even moments sheâd made peace with the idea she may not regain her memories. Was it saddening yes, because she wouldnât remember her job, friends, and other precious moments. But at the same time, she could always make new ones. Sangoâs twins were still young. She could relearn her job, and best of all she had Inuyasha whoâd sheâd become attached to. Their steadily growing relationship was a budding romance regardless of their past history. Think about? Kagome had a chance to re-experience everything in a new way, through a new lens. Well⊠thatâs what she told herself to justify the idea, and so far, it was working.
But there were strange moments starting to occur. Sometimes they were dreams of scenes Kagome didnât recognize. That in of itself werenât unusual because how often do dreams ever make complete sense? No, it was in the emotions that came with them. On several occasions Kagome would wake up with the distinct feeling these were not merely dreams but memories trying to break through. At other times, she couldnât remember the dream, only the emotions sheâd felt during them. Sometimes they were so intense, sheâd wake up in tears or completely happy for no other reason. According to her neurologist, this was normal during the healing process, but unfortunately there was no true way to tell the difference between reality and fantasy.
âDid I tell you I reached out to Ms. Tanaka the other day?â Kagome asked Inuyasha.
âMmm, I donât think so.â
âI called the office and spoke to her briefly about maybe getting lunch one day so she could tell me how things have been there. I may not know exactly what sheâs talking about, but maybe itâll jog my memories.â
Inuyasha lifted their conjoined hands and kissed the back of hers. âI think thatâs a really good idea. You guys will have fun talking.â
âI think so too, she seemed very nicââŠâ Kagomeâs voice trailed away as stopped dead in her tracks and her eyes shifted towards one of the parks trees. âUm, c-could we check out that tree?â
âSure, whatever you want.â Inuyasha smiled knowingly.
It was like her feet gained a mind of their own as they carried her towards a large Sakura tree in the middle of a field. Just from looking at, there wasnât anything special about the tree. Spring had long since passed and the blooms were no more. But Kagome felt a pull towards this one in particular as if she remembered something about it. What that was she had no idea. She let go of Inuyashaâs hand and reached out, touching the bark of the tree, and staring up at its massive girth. It looked old. Maybe there long before the park existed⊠maybe older than even the Edo period, who knew? It was just another green leafed tree, yet why was it stirring up a rush of emotions? Happy ones with butterflies dancing in her soul.
Slowly, she moved around the base of the tree like a surveyor mapping it out or searching for secrets only it could provide. And thatâs when she saw it. Kagomeâs breathing hitched as her eyes fell upon a carving in the wood, approximately five feet above the ground. There, a bit worn nonetheless was a heart encircling two names. âKagomeâŠâ She read aloud, â& Inuyashaâ
Oh, my Kami!â She gasped, both hands flying up to cover her mouth in shock. âH-How? When?â
At that moment, Inuyasha walked over, gazing at the words and running his hand over the carving while he spoke. âWe carved this about two years ago.â He smiled, eyes crinkling, and growing moist as if reminiscing. âIt was a late Saturday afternoon and after eating an early dinner at Genki Sukiyaki, we cut through this park to get to your house. But it started to rain, not very heavy, so we took shelter under this tree.â Inuyasha chuckled lightly. âI remember you being upset about your hair getting wet.â He finally looked to Kagome, placing a hand on her cheek. âYou looked so beautiful and even though the weather was miserable, there was just something magical about it all. Thatâs when you asked me to carve this into the tree.â
âBut how did I know to look for it?â Kagome was so confused. âI donât remember any of that.â
âI have no idea how. But part of you must. Maybe, itâs a sign your memories are fighting to come through.â
The tears gathering in Kagomeâs eyes, trickle down her cheeks as a blend of happiness and sadness. She wanted to be happy for such a beautiful memory but devastated that she couldnât remember it. She wanted to be excited that maybe, just maybe it could be true that her memories were returning, yet she didnât want to take the chance of a let-down. Inuyasha pulled her into a tight hug as she let go of the angsty emotions. âItâs not fair that I canât remember! I want to remember!â
âShhh,â Inuyasha whoâs own tears begun to spill, did his best to soothe her with softened tones. âI want that too. Itâs gonna get better baby. I think this really is your memories returning, we just have to believe.â
âItâs hard to do that sometimesâŠâ
Inuyasha lifted her chin and swept his thumbs over her cheeks to dry them. âAnd if you donât, weâre creating a whole new memory of this tree right now, an even more special one.â
Kagome sniffled. âYou think so?â
He nodded his head and placed a gentle kiss on her whetted lips. âWhat do you think?â Inuyasha questioned with a soft smile. âHow can we add to this memory?â
Kagome paused for a moment in thought. âWe could add something beneath our names⊠like⊠mmm, forever in time?â
âIs that what you want?â She nodded yes. âOkay,â Inuyasha obliged.
He kissed her again then used his claw to slowly, meticulously carve the new words into the bark. It took a few minutes because he wanted to make sure it was easy to read and would last a long time. âI think this is definitely will better than the original memory.â
âMmhmm, itâs a good one,â Kagome agreed. She felt a lot better now. âThank you, Inuyasha for being so patient with me. It must be so frustrating.â
Inuyasha shook his head. âNot anymore. Iâm not glad about the accident, but Iâm cherishing all this time Iâm spending with you. Kagome, I truly mean it when I say, this moment right here,â he took her hand. âItâs now one of the happiest moments youâve ever given me. No matter what,â he smiled, âIâll always love you, forever in time.â
She giggled. âForever⊠I like the sound of thatâŠâ
After the incident at the park, Kagome brought it up with the neuropsychologist assigned to her case. The woman patiently sat in her chair as Kagome told her every little detail. What she felt, the emotions, her thoughts, and reactions. She also brought up the dreams sheâd been having as well as small incidents that caused her to feel like it might be memories trying to come through.
âLike, just the other day,â Kagome explained. âSango accompanied me to the hospital for my last physical check-up, but as we passed by the nursery, we decided to stop to look at the cute babies. Then out of nowhere I started to feel emotional, nothing bad, just happy as she talked about the birth of her twins. I mean, yeah it makes sense to feel happy at the time because we were having a good time, but it just felt different. I almost felt like crying. Why is that??â
The woman finished jotting down her notes before speaking. âItâs been about 5 months, correct, since you lost your memories?â Kagome nodded yes. âAnd according to your latest evaluations, your brain has healed quite nicely. Itâs not uncommon at this point for triggers to manifest themselves.â
âI donât understandâŠâ
âThe way long term memory retention works, our brains must process information and create new neurocircuitry, storage if you will once the information has been deemed necessary to keep in the long term. If not, our short term memories are discarded quickly. Of course, this is just a basic explanation and thereâs more to it, but what studies have found is memories attached to an emotional event have a higher likelihood of being retained and will evoke a stronger response from us. Think of it like, these emotional memories are much more deeply attached to our psyches.â
âOhâ I think I understand.â
âMmm,â the doctor hummed. âThe park incident was attached to a very emotional moment in your life. So even though you couldnât remember the event itself, the part of you that remembered the emotions surrounding it did and pushed you towards the tree. Also, the hospital, you mentioned being with your friend Sango and looking at babies. This is just a guess, but perhaps you were feeling the emotions you felt from the time she gave birth.â
As the doctors words were processed, moisture began to pool in Kagomeâs eyes. Could it really be true?! Should she really allow herself to hope?! When Kagome finally responded, her voice cracked as it held back the tears. âD-Does this mean⊠Iâm starting to get my memories back?â
âI would say, yes. Again, I cannot say one hundred percent certain, but what you are experiencing is a common one. Those that suffered from acute memory loss, donât just wake up one day and suddenly theyâve all returned. Itâs a gradual process, but once it begins it typically continues at a steady pace.â
âI-I donât know what to say!â A few happy tears joined the smile on Kagomeâs face.
âI suggest that you start writing down the times you feel something or think youâre remembering something and check them with your family and friends. If they confirm it, talk about it. That could help as well to bring more information and memories to the forefrontâ give your brain a little help to jog itself.â
âThank you so much, doctor! Iâll definitely do that!â
The woman smiled, reaching over to pat Kagomeâs hand before giving it a small squeeze. âYouâre very welcome. I wish you all the luck in the world!â

Hewwo! How r u doing??đ§ I would like to ask for a little something where the reader is easily distracted and goes off the path (chasing a butterfly, seeing a dog, etc...) and the boy doesnât notice until later. đ„°đ„ș The bois: Todoroki, Kirishima, and Shinso (BNHA/MHA) âšâš
Aww I love this! This is so cute! I will try my best for you đ„ș
Todoroki
Itâs Friday evening and you are on your way home from UA because you wanted to go home for the weekend and Todoroki decides to go with you being the protective boyfriend he is.
Itâs spring and the cherry blossoms have just bloomed. The path youâre walking is lined with cherry blossom trees. You stop to take in the soft pink petals, but Shouto doesnât notice until he reaches the end of the path and sees that youâre not next to him.
He freaks out thinking someone mightâve taken you when he wasnât watching or maybe you just went off to a convenience store or something. He decided to walk back up the path, asking any and everyone if they had seen you, showing them pictures of you, saying how tall you are, etc.
He finally makes it to where you were, hair sticking to his forehead since he basically ran the whole time.
You were standing under the trees, slowly spinning as the petals fell into your hands. You felt like you were in your own little world, like you were a fairy and you could stay in this moment forever.
You hadnât noticed him standing there yet, but he was watching as you twirled beneath the flower petals, falling like snow around you. He took out his phone and started recording you and snapped a few pictures. You looked so beautiful to him in this moment and he wanted to capture if forever. The way the sun shone on your skin and your warm smile melted him and he realized just how much he loves you in that moment.
When you finally notice him standing there, you feel your cheeks heat up and you know instantly that youâre blushing.
He makes his way over to you and grabs your hand in his. He looks at them and smiles for a moment. He pulls you close to his chest and kisses you on your forehead.
âI love you...y/nâ
You look up at him surprised because his words caught you off guard, but hearing them made you happy, so the as quick as the shock hit is as quick as it left and you just smiled from ear to ear.
You hug him and nuzzle your face into his chest.
âI love you too, Shoutoâ
You both walk up the path, this time heâs hold your hand and make your way to your house where dinner is already waiting.
Kirishima
Itâs summer vacation and your family has decided to go to the beach house that has been in your family for decades. They tell you to invite Kirishima along and whoever else you wanted to come along since there was enough room. It was a private beach, so you basically had it to yourselves whenever your family did go there for whatever reason, whether it be a small gathering or just wanting to get away from the city for a little bit.
When you reach, everyone unpacks and you decide to head down to the beach with Mina, Yaoyorozu and Uraraka. Denki, Kirishima, Bakugou, Sero and Deku all meet you on the beach a little afterwards. You all swim for a while and play games, until your dad decides to barbecue. Once everything is taken off the grill, you all eat together. Your mom bought fireworks and sparklers for you all to end the night with and celebrate your first day on the beach.
After all the festivities are over, you all head inside to rest for the night, but you and your friends decided to have a mini sleep over in the living room and watch movies. You cuddled with Kirishima on the couch while the rest of your friends took the floor. You all end up falling asleep in the middle of the second movie that was put on. You wake up around 3:30 to the tv still being on. You get up to turn it off then realize you canât fall back asleep. You decide to go out and take a walk along the beach to calm yourself to the sound of the waves. You notice that the waves are glowing due to the bioluminescent krill in the water and you become so entranced that you take a seat on the rocks to watch the beautiful sight before you.
Kiri wakes up an hour later and pops up when he realizes youâre not next to him anymore. He carefully gets up, so that he doesnât hurt any of the sleeping people on the floor and makes his was upstairs to see if you decided to go up to your room. The thought made him sad, but he could understand if your bed was more comfortable than the couch. He opened the door quietly, as to not wake your parents and saw that your bed was untouched. He decided to make his way to the balcony on the second floor to think about where you couldâve gone. Something told him to use the telescope that was on the balcony and he searched for you along the beach. He finally saw that you were on the far end by the rocks, sitting on them. He made his way back down the stairs, again quietly, and made his way along the beach to get to you. He took a blanket with him, just in case you would be cold.
âHey pebble,â he says with a soft smile, startling you a bit
âHey,â you say with a soft smile back
âIâm sorry I scared you,â he says with laughter in his voice,âbut you can just consider it a little bit of pay back since I woke up and you werenât there.â He finished, taking a seat next to you.
âSorry about that,â you say blushing
âWhy are you sitting here anyways?â He asked curious
âWell, I can show you better than I can tell you,â you say picking up a flat rock, then skimming it across the water to reveal the plankton
âWoah, thatâs so cool, pebble. I see why you stayed here so long,â he says smiling his big smile
âHow long have I been out here,â you ask, kinda freaking out
âLittle over an hour,â he says smiling
âWe should probably head back before my parents wake up,â you say about to get up
âWait,â he says stopping you,âfive more minutes, then we can go back.â
You nod and he takes a seat next you and wrapping the blanket around both of your shoulders.
After the five extra minutes, you both head back to the beach house, cuddle on the couch and go back to sleep.
Shinso
Shinso and you are out for a picnic date that you had planned for a while. The weather is warm and sunny, not a cloud in the sky. You make it to forest/site you wanted to have the picnic and itâs even more perfect than you imagined. Thereâs the perfect canopy to sunlight ratio and youâre not too far from the river, causing there to be a comfortable coolness in the air. You set down the blanket and Shinso put some rocks on the corners, so that it wouldnât lift up in the wind blew. You both start unpacking the basket and you realize you forgot the drinks in the car. You offer to run and go get it, but he protests.
âIâll get it, kitten. You stay here, Iâll be right back,â he says leaving you there by yourself.
A couple of minutes pass and you start to hear rustling in the bushes. You were definitely a little frightened, but waited to see if anything would come out before you just to any conclusions or scared yourself by jumping to said conclusions.
Just then a bunny comes out and itâs limping. You slowly crawl over to it, as to not scare it.
âItâs okay, Iâm not gonna hurt you cutie. I just wanna help.â
You continue to slowly crawl toward it, extending your hand so that it can get used to your scent. Once it finally puts its guard down, your able to pick it up. You figured itâs borough couldnât be too far from where you were since it came this way. You decide to walk off, eyeing the ground for any holes.
When Shinso finally returns to your picnic area, he sees that youâre not there. He decides to call for you, but receives nothing. He decides to take the path you took, not knowing that itâs the way you went, but something inside him told him to go that way.
After a few minutes of walking, he decides to try calling for you again. The first time he receives nothing, causing worry to start building. He walks up some more and tries again.
âY/N!!â
âOver here!â
He walkruns over to the direction he heard your voice come from.
âShh,â you say, so that he wouldnât startle the rabbit in your arms. He makes his way over to you slower. You tell him what happened and he helps you find the bunnyâs home.
You finally find the borough at the bottom of a tree. You decide it might be best to back away and let the bunny hop in on its own. You crouch down and Shinso follows. You set the bunny on the ground and itâs hesitant to head home.
âGo ahead, itâs okay,â you say encouraging it
The bunny takes a couple hops before fully going for it and going home. You decide to capture this moment by snapping a couple of pictures. While youâre busy doing that, Shinso just admires you and smiles.
âReady,â you say smiling and catching him off guard
âY-yeah, lets go,â he says blushing
You both make it back to your picnic and enjoy the food and snacks that were packed.
All of a sudden it starts to rain. You both hurriedly pack everything and try to find shelter somewhere.
You come across a shed and decide to knock in the door. An older woman opens the door.
âHello maâam, is it okay if we stay here. Itâs just started raining out of nowhere and we donât have an umbrella,â you say nicely and slightly apologetic
âOf course dears. Come in.â
You and Shinso do as she says and she lights a fire for you both to sit by. She also supplies you with a blanket and leaves to make tea for you both. Shinso wraps the blanket around both of you and he can see that you are shivering a little, so he moves closer to you, causing you to blush.
âKitty,â he says, grabbing your attention
âYesâ
âIâm sorry the picnic got ruined,â he says apologetic
âIt didnât get ruined,â you say with laughter in your voice,âthis was the best day ever.â
âR-really,â he asks expectantly
âYes, we helped a bunny find its way home and we did still get to enjoy the picnic, itâs just got cut short and thatâs okay, cause I got to spend the whole day with you.â
âThis is why I love you, kitty. Your so good and optimistic. You see the great in every situation. I wish I could do that more. Youâre so perfect and I-I donât want to lose you.â
âYouâre not gonna lose me and youâre perfect too. Maybe not perfect to you, but perfect to me and thatâs the most important thing,â you say smiling
He pulls you in and kisses you softly and full of love.
The rain finally clears and you thank the woman for her hospitality. Shinso drives you to your house and before you exit he grabs your hand and kisses it. Then he pulls you in and kisses your lips. He watches you enter your house and then drives off.
I hope you enjoyed. Thank you again for submitting and keeping my asks active. You always give me something new and I really appreciate you letting my imagination run wild (more than it already does). đđ„ș

Caretaker looked up at the cloudy sky, eyes narrowed. âRain again? Man come on, itâs been like that for a week.â
The large black storm clouds had crowded the overcast, leaving what was supposed to be a warm July evening, a moist, dark, hell. ïżŒ
âWhatâd you expect man?â Character B muttered, trailing their eyes up. âI told you when you moved here this was the norm.â
They rolled their eyes. âItâs not like youâre known for being a truthful saint.â
âHow the hell could I lie about the weather [Caretaker]? It takes one google search. Just saying.â They took a sip of their drink.
âYeah well-â Caretaker stopped as they noticed a flash in the sky. âWhat, should I have checked for shooting stars too?â It was partially a joke, as they were wondering how they wouldâve been able to see a star in a night full of clouds.
B had their eyes in the sky, squinting. âThatâs- thatâs really weird. We donât generally get shooting stars.â They looked at each other, noticing how the âstarâ was getting closer, and closer, and heading directly for them.
âWhat the fuck?â
âShould I get the others [Caretaker]?â
Caretaker turned to B momentarily. âEr, maybe they can tell what-â They stopped, stunned, as whatever it was that was hurdling towards them had suddenly vanished.
B looked just as bemused as they felt. âCrack. Is it crack? Am I on crack? You saw that too right?â
They could only nod, scanning the skies for the bright light. Nothing. âWell, letâs just go-â Caretaker and B jumped simultaneously as something crashed into their yard, only ten feet in front of them.
ïżŒïżŒLight emanated from the thing, slowly diming as whatever it was started to wind down. Caretaker and B looked at each other, almost doing a mental rock-paper-scissors on who was going to go check it out.
Caretaker exhaled, standing up straight. They made their way forward, slowly, to the smoking crater on the ground. With the only light coming from the porch where B was, it was challenging trying to see what exactly had crashed down.
As they came closer, they got lower, until they were at the very edge of the crater. They were about to ask B to bring a flashlight, when a thin hand shot out of the smoke, wrapping around their ankle.
Very quickly, Caretaker stiffled their scream. They almost felt frozen in place, not sure what to do about the hand wrapped around their ankle.
It wasnât acting violently, Caretakerâs first notice. There was no dragging, scratching, pulling, it was just there, holding on.
â[Caretaker]?â B called. âEverything alright?â
Caretaker didnât bother with a response. They were to busy analyzing the bruised and cut-up hand, which slowly turned into another hand, and then two wrists, handcuffed together.
They stood straight up, gently prying off the hand, and slowly making their way into the divot of land.
They heard B calling them, and footsteps approaching, but they continued on. B would be fine.
Upon reaching the bottom, they noticed a cluster of black feathers, some burnt, most dirty but intact. Then they realized: those feathers were attached to a pair of wings.
A pair of large black wings, held tightly together as if they were trying to cover something. Caretaker quickly put two and two together, realising that the hands and the wings probably belonged to the same person (thing?).
âHello?â They called quietly, trying to gauge a reaction from the pair of wings. They then reached out, slowly, and stroked their palm against the feathers of one of them.
The thing shot up, wings flapping wildly, pushing themself out of the direction of Caretaker. Or attempting to, at least.
Caretaker heard a loud whine as whatever it was collapsed against the ground again, trying to curl up into a fetal position.
âHey,â they tried again, and this time, it whimpered and brought their wings closer. âIâm not gonna hurt you.â Whatever it was, it looked human, other then the thick black wings that trembled and shivered. Caretaker hoped they knew English.
âItâs okay,â they nearly whispered, getting on their knees and crawling towards it. âIâm not going to hurt you.â
The thingâs head turned to them, and Caretaker could see glowing orbs, which they quickly identified as its eyes. No words, just another whimper.
âItâs okay.â They were close now, holding out their hand for it. Itâs eyes were studying them intently, though they were dilated and foggy. Itâs hand made a slight movement when-
âCaretaker, what the hell are you doing?!â They jumped again. The creature curled up again, hiding its face.
Caretaker jumped up, following the direction of their friendâs voice. âDude, shut up,â they whispered sharply, looking back at the direction of the unmoving creature.
âWhat was it? Whatâs there?â
âI donât know, but shut the hell up before you scare them away!â
Bâs eyes narrowed, and they looked like they wanted to say something, but they remained quiet as Caretaker made their way back.
The creature remained still, even as Caretaker got close enough to hear their labored breathing. âDonât worry about them, thatâs my friend. They wonât hurt you either, I promise.
Nothing.
Caretaker contemplated it for a moment, knowing how badly it ended last time, then reached out a hand, hesitating when their hand hovered above the creatureâs hair.
They didnât want to touch its wings again, but hoped that maybe it would accept something else. âIâm going to touch your head, if thatâs okay.â
There was no reaction. No movement. No objection.
Gently placing their hand down, their fingers found their way into the dirty hair of the creature. It flinched, but made no effort to shake it off. Caretaker briefly wondered if it could.
After a pause, they moved their hand back and forth, watching the creature lean into their hand. âIâm not going to hurt you,â they repeated, the creature slowly starting to relax. ïżŒ
Caretaker waited a few moment, before grabbing the creature and pulling it into their lap.
It whined- no, they whined, as Caretaker took in the bruised and bloodied skin, the ragged jumpsuit and layers of dirt that caked the poor thing.
They also noticed that their along with their arms, their legs were chained together, and there was a... mask? Covering their mouth and nose.
âYouâre safe here, Iâm not going to hurt you.â The mantra repeated until the winged creature, most likely overcome with exhaustion and pain, fell into an unconscious state.
âB?â
âCaretaker?â
âYouâre gonna want to see this.â
