Day 2: Timeloop / Xiao Qi and Jiu Ge

I am cringe and I am not even free

Feel free to reuse this idea but 24 hours are not enough for me to finish an entire comic. I could have taken the simpler prompt but nOOOOOO timeloop is too tempting. Past me why are we like this

#svsss #shen jiu #yue qingyuan #qijiu #qijiuweek2024 #the basic idea for this was that both yqy and sj remember each loop #the loop started after their individual deaths in PIDW and resets them to close to disciple era #aka the time Yue Qi was in the caves and SJ presumably got away from the Qiu household or was already with Wu Yanzi #I imagine the first few loops they qi deviated so hard from the shock that they didnt even make it like 1 hour in the loop before beingrese #and then had a few loops just fucking around and finding out #eventually they realise that the other has the memories of all loops and so begins the talks and figuring how tf they can get out of this #maybe they resolve their issues with the promise or not your choice tbh #they try different plans and methods #but they keep dying (read: SJ keeps dying first and YQY either dies or sewerslides not soon after) and getting reset with no end in sight #until the last pages where the svsss timeline begins #SJ got replaced with SY and the system isn't letting YQY join him in death or smth nor letting him do anything about SY being there instead #And due to their closeness from being immensily tired from all the loops #YQY notices it immediately but can't do anything about it #the bonus for SY is that this timeline was very kind to LBH & co - 79 figured by now that keeping him in the sect and happy was their best #bet at staying alive - or well at least for longer #I'll continue this storyline in one of the future prompts of this qijiu week #btw the one with the cliff is just the whoopsie daisy timeline where SJ accidentally falls into the Abyss trying to keep LBH from falling i #79 had a bit of a good laugh about that one #cw death #cw violence #cw blood #cw angst

So I'm an RTD girlie who gave up on doctor who somewhere in the moffat era before chibnall even took over and so I've missed all of thirteen's tenure. I don't have it in me to watch all of her seasons at this moment in time but I LOVE Jodie and your gifs look so compelling.

Would you be able to recommend your top 5 episodes with 13 or something so I can rectify the error of my ways, at least a little bit?

And probably Fugitive of the Judoon and The Timeless Children just because those are very important series lore episodes that are important to watch even if you very much disagree with most of the choices that Chibnall made

Also probably The Power of the Doctor so you can watch Thirteen's full regeneration episode (and Jacob Anderson <3)

going to a comedy open mic tomorrow mostly to watch my friends (it's at a cool venue that my improv troupe performs at once a month and a few improv troupe friends are doing standup there) but when these friends were asking if i'd be interested in coming they were like "btw there's usually a ton of open spots on show days if YOU want to do something... and they're not strict about it only being standup either, people have done character pieces and sketches etc like they embrace the weirdness... and they're not strict about time limits you could probably do anything between three and eight minutes... sometimes if there's not enough people signed up they'll even let you go twice..." and i'm like god damn it i thought i was gonna take a break from aubrey but this setup is like tailor made for an aubrey appearance lmao

#still on the fence about it bc the burnout i experienced at the beginning of may extended to aubrey #especially bc so much of my aubrey stuff is comedy about gender and my brain was more in ''set everything on fire'' mode #and i think i've gotten to a good place with that burnout but i still haven't worked on any aubrey stuff since i got home from college #but even still even tho my mental health is better than it was a few weeks ago #recently i have had this horrible insomnia where i haven't been able to fall asleep at night in over a week #(i've made up for it with naps but still i am not mentally 100% rn. i've tried so many things and nothing has worked.)#so that's my justification for *not* doing aubrey tomorrow. however.#i reeeally need to get more performance experience bc there's only so much you can develop a sketch character without performing them #and this venue is so good. it's an art gallery like an hour away that's designed to be part gallery and part performance venue #especially for comedy. like the venue owner is this veteran comedian who used to work with bobcat goldthwait and a lot of other big names #and it's a low-pressure environment bc everyone there has seen me do comedy before with my improv troupe #but they still haven't seen me do aubrey at all so it's bringing a new side of my comedy to some of my main collaborators #like this is so much better than my previous aubrey performances bc they were all either #1. shows in CLASSROOMS with a bunch of my classmates who generally don't get my comedy (very clique-ish)#or 2. a guest spot on a show at a coffee shop where everyone knew each other except me #plus the biggest thing for me is the lack of a strict time limit. like as much as having a good 3-minute monologue can be #i think aubrey is a character you need to get to know a bit longer than 3 minutes. and a lot of my stuff is long while also being very tigh #like not every monologue is like this but my best aubrey monologues are almost like aubrey is telling you a sitcom storyline #and removing too many lines makes the whole narrative jenga tower fall over #and as much as i want to figure out how to make every monologue a good starting point #having the chance to perform multiple monologues if i get to go twice so that they can build off each other would be perfect #idk i'm not sure how often the open mics are there. at least monthly tho i might be missing next month's depending on when i'm in toronto #so like this wouldn't really be my only chance. but yeah i'm on the fence about whether to bring aubrey back for a performance tomorrow #i probably wouldn't do new material. i'd do the 5 minute version of my uncle reg monologue bc it's the one that's worked best so far #and if i get to do multiple. maybe i'd do the ''nom de plum'' monologue bc i think it's also very strong #and it has a good callback to uncle reg #but idk i also think doing the song would be very fun and on-theme since it's pride month and the song is a satire of rainbow capitalism #tho i'd probably have to rework the monologue that leads into the song bc even tho i loved the concept i don't think i articulated it well #or i could write an entirely different lead-in and make the previous monologue (''C/H/M'') a separate thing to revise later #which would probably go better and somehow be less work to write. but even so i don't know what the venue's sound setup is

the epic highs and lows of trying to read an ongoing shounen manga

#for me it uh. tends to have more epic lows than epic highs. im very unlucky with shounen #occasionally a few years after something i start reading it'll turn out to be good #but any time i follow something from the beginning it starts getting. worse #is it me? am i doing this? dont tell me to read your favourite shounen i'll turn it bad #did i ever mention that one manga. the moon is beautiful but first die #a mouthful of a title. it started kinda goofy but i really adored the main character for some reason #im still a bit attached to him. he cleans so well that he got the magic power to see real good. and now he can matrix bullet time #hes just like me for reeeeeeeaaaal hflkanjvdkfljfds but yeah that manga was. weird but fun BUT THEN #it got so wack you guys you dont understand. the first like one or two volumes? fun #everything else? god knows JHKFDJFDK i still read it all tho. i was invested in my guy with seeing real good powers #and im sorry to say. unfortunately it seems. a certain manga with a big tv adaptation that is pronounced oh she no co #my curse. its started. although that ones very much a epic high and epic low situation like itll be so so wack one minute #and suddenly get good again and then plummet back down HFKJDSBHJds we will see how it goes on #i started getting annoyed with the writing after the stageplay arc because they kept like. time skipping over so much #which i thought was a bit of a waste because there was a lot of interesting potential in a lot of the showbiz storylines. but we shall see #thats not shounen tho thats seinen but my curse applies to some seinen too LOL but most seinen i read is already finished #and shoujosei is spared from my curse. i think just because most i have the opportunity to read in english just tends to not #be drawn out or have weird scheduling things messing with the pacing. are there any weekly shoujosei magazines out there #i dont think weekly manga is good. for a lot of reasons mostly the mangakas health but also i find more weekly stuff i read #that isnt like. 4koma stuff suffers in its pacing a LOT. but again that might be my curse. the second i lay my eyes on it. the curse #(sorry ive been catching up on a lot of manga recently LOL ur getting my manga thoughts now)

I truly think if I had watched the Buck, Bothered and Bewildered live it would’ve taken me out

#911 abc #for context i had stopped watching halfway through season 5 #(combination of being busy with other things. losing interest in some of the storylines. and cancelling our hulu) I planned to catch up eve #and then i stopped using tumblr for a few months so I wasn’t seeing any of the news around it #and then a week ago i logged back in and i saw gifs of Buck asking Tommy to be his date to the wedding #and just seeing those gifs made me so unbelievably happy #so of course now i watched all of the s7 episodes #and it was one of those things where even though I knew it was going to happen it was still So Good #idk you know how if spoilers can ruin the story then it’s probably not a substantial story to begin with?#instead with this it was like- I was bummed that I didn’t get to see it live bc buck is a character I care very deeply about #but knowing it was going to happen and then watching it let me really appreciate how well done it was #I have so many thoughts #might put them into a coherent post one day #¡hey listen!

I caught up on all of the spy x family manga and there won't be more until Feb but that also means I'll have to wait weekly for updates going forward, fuck

#spy x family #anyway the manga is really good. the anime is like a perfect adaptation & i love it. so far of what they covered there was only 1 storyline #they skipped. but whats happened since has been soooo good. like ive been saying repeatedly to my partner how much i love how #anti war the story is in a compassionate way that explains theres no black n white. then i got to loids backstory chap & damn it was heavy #ALSO love that i was like ''oh there hasnt been much romance (not that i mind). loids in denial & yor is oblivious tho'' & then i read the #manga & WOW hes REALLY in denial sometimes & shes REALLY oblivious other times. its still a complete slow burn buildup but #there are quite a few more moments towards twiyor. also damanya? idk their ship name but omfg theyre SO FUNNY anya is SO FUNNY #like obvious insert of ''shipping literal first graders does feel weird'' here but they have a really funny dynamic & i love the kid chars #a lot theyre all really funny & fairly well fleshed out while still being believably immature little kids. anyway sxf v good #also bond my beloved i sobbed watching his eps in the anime hes a very good boy #tc posts

It'd be fun if, just as a silly side job, Eddie and the older kids all just play a spinoff version of DND. Essentially it's just DND except there is NO plan involved. Zero. Everyone is allowed to craft the story's progression to whatever they want, within reason.

Pulling everyone off script is totally allowed though, as long as it's interesting. It's a break from having to have a storyline to be following specifically. If they want to fight a dragon, they can totally fight a dragon, but it's not a preplanned Big Bad, just a dragon that someone put into the story so now everyone has to go fight a dragon. There's no single DM. Everyone is in control. Everyone is the judge, jury, and executioner. They take turns guiding the story.

Also there's no math. Dice rolling, yes, but it's just purely a game of chance. The stats are less solid and more like... You have to simply understand your characters capabilities like it was just another person, un-amountable to numbers.

Like, for example, Robin plays a Bard character, and she's about to reveal something special about her Trumpet. But she makes.... Oh I don't know, Nancy roll a die. Any by choice of Robin. A certain number or certain range gives what her Trumpet has. Maybe it has ice powers. Maybe it is actually sentient and Robin's character did not know. Maybe it is just a random trumpet and it's actually contained years worth of spit and now everyone has to listen to her describe her emptying the spit valve.

By all accounts it still satisfies the general ideal of DND, it's just less pinned between a DM who knows the lore and the players who get to explore and knowing what math is. It's just general fun, go ham it's not like the world is watching. Nobody knows what plot could possibly sprout up next, what romances or deaths or anything will progress. There's a story to be found, but it's crafted by the hands of many.

(Plus, everyone can play several characters at a time. If Steve wants to play 3 separate guys who are named after him there is... nobody stopping him. It's not like they're all in play at all times, just when the story allows him to reintroduce Stevon, or Steve Jr., or Stebby the Evil Vacuum Cleaner Robot.)

#stranger things #stranger things 4 #steve harrington #robin buckley #nancy wheeler #eddie munson #they all are at the very least respectful of each other and it progresses more or less like a normal game #it's just now eddie is having fun helping craft a story with everyone else where even he can be surprised #not that his normal campaign can't be surprising but this is one where he doesn't know where they're even going next #one moment everyone is at a ball the next they're off to help a baby goo monster find its mama #and then after that they have to fight the evil vacuum cleaner minions because yeah they suck up goo moms #it's just a lighthearted no risks (sometimes risks if they get attached) sort of game #eddie sometimes uses the random storylines from this game and brings it to his campaign because it's just that good #only a few know the origin of the Ball Bag but man are the club members intrigued!#steve still doesn't get most of it sometimes but he tries his darnedest to play and seduce everything on sight #and by golly does he seduce everything on sight #eddie: He's like a Bard and their conquests but worse #alternatively everyone is a little nerdy enough that the game is just feral chaos #it becomes longstanding inside jokes between them and the Party get SO confused #they don't tell the kids about the side game because it's a thing just for them to bond and grow close with #same energy as not wanting to drag a child to your house party where there WILL be influences of Not For Kiddos #of course they write logs down on what happened thus far so they don't lose their places and lore #just instead of lore being prewritten it's interwritten #they probably do have character sheets anyways? but mostly so they have baselines of personalities #argyle plays a cabbage farmer for a good week and every time eddie plots on how to destroy the cabbages #in the end they kind of accidentally uh... kill said farmer and now he's a scarecrow with a rotting lettuce head #argyle then proceeds to make a lettuce farmer who is secretly in line for some throne???#everyone is just having a fun time okay

#not only is jackie getting plowed by dark #but i came up with a storyline where bim trimmer also gets that good dark dick #but i dont feel like explaining the whole idea cause im tired #and also. i really want to get into comic making cause i cant write fics #so comic about dark getting turned on by bim eating raw meat may or may not be within the future #i also have other ideas for things!!!! i feel very inspired lately and im hoping to at least draw a few of them

Why did the author kill you off ?.

Pure Shock Value.

Nobody wanted you to die, except maybe the author, once they realized how much the audience loved you. Something about you sparked joy, be it your smile, your sense of humor, or your dashing good looks. Everyone thought you were safe, simply because no one could bring themselves to imagine the story without you in it. Which is, of course, exactly why the author killed you. Chances are you died mid-sentence, with a smile on your face, oblivious to your fate. Impaled, crushed, decapitated, whatever gave your friends (and the audience) as little time to intervene as possible. They might not even get time to grieve- the story will move on, rushing away, no time to even say goodbye. People will talk about your death scene in hushed voices, wary of spoiling others, teary eyed and tongue tied.

Ended up getting impaled by a monster.#{ It certainly caught everyone off guard and I made a lot of my friends cry only for him to come back a good while later because he- }#{ can't actually die from something like that due to being infected.
