19 " Whatever's wrong with this family goes back a long ways " For The Badun Detective agency au ... Featuring Lampwick if you can squeeze him in !
Tumblr media
Trigger warnings: Child death, dysfunctional families, murder, swearing, poor sleeping habits, etc.
——————————————————————————
“Uhh. What is wrong with this family?!” Jace growled in frustration, plopping down onto his sleeping bag in Carlos’ treehouse—where he and his cousin had been living since they were seven.
Harry just shrugged from his hammock, not looking up from the laptop he’d bribed Hunter de Vil into fixing. “I dunno. I suppose it depends on which family you’re talking about. The de vils or ours?”
The bigger boy gave him an unamused look. “ I mean ours.”
“Well, how was I supposed to know that? You could have been referring to either.”
“Stop being a smartass.”
“I would but I don’t think that that’s possible for me.”
Jace paused. Before groaning “You’re probably right about that. But that still doesn't answer my question.”
“Well, one thing’s for sure. Whatever’s wrong with this family goes back a looooooooong ways.” Harry replied, still not looking at him.
“What makes you say that?”
Now it was time for Harry to give him an unamused look. “The fact that both our fathers’ see nothing wrong with the fact that Cruella has murdered every sibling and mother figure either of us have ever had, along with several other people and animals. Oh and the fact that two of our ancestors—Harlow and Jacob Badun—were good ol’ Judge Dimsdale de Vil’s lackeys before they were killed during the witch trials.”
“What. the. Fuck—”
“Oh and the fact that our grandmother—Jezebel Badun, ‘nee Rossi— huh, Rossi, isn’t that, that Lampwick guy’s last name, we should look into—”
“Harry, focus. What’d our grandma that I didn’t even know we had do?”
“Oh. She murdered her husband.”
“Again, I must ask, what the fuck—”
“Oh and apparently her husband’s brother’s cousin’s son was an axe murderer—”
Jace quickly jumped to his feet and took the laptop from  Harry.
“Hey!”
“Okay, that’s enough family tree researching for tonight and preferably forever.”
“But it was interesting—”
“No. It was horrifying and I, for one, do not want to hear anymore!”
“Not even about the time a pair of twin brothers married a pair of twin sisters and both had quintuplets who went on to murder each other as children in the 1700s?”
Jace grimaced. “ I especially do not want to know about that!”
“What about our great great twin aunts who were ladies of the night?”
“WHY WOULD I WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THAT?!”
Harry, one again, just shrugged—causing Jace to narrow his eyes.
“Harry. When was the last time you slept for more than an hour?”
“...”
“Harry.”
“Uh…. I don’t think you want me to answer that.”
“Go to bed.”
“Why would I do that when I can tell you all about our wonderfully odd ancestors—like Joldwin, servant of, King Iōánnēs de Vil, who—”
“HARRY!”
“Okay, okay. I’ll go to bed. Jeez, you’re no fun!”

Throwback Fic Week: beautiful scars on critical veins
Fifth up: beautiful scars on critical veins.
Welcome to the stage Mal! The fully-fleshed out lesbian version of the character with her trauma fully explored. While my other Descendants fics in my AU series definitely critiqued Auradon and the fucked up system that these characters live in, this one actually shows some of the efforts that the Islanders take to take on the system. Also angry magical lesbians. Best of both worlds.
Excerpt:
Mal knows the power of protection, of using everything at your disposal to save your gang.
The instance Mal gets to Auradon, she constructs wards. Her magic festers, blisters, crackles its invisible way across those she seeks to protect. It glows blue over Evie, burns gold over Jay, shines silver over Carlos. She weaves wards of protection against bloodshed, drowning out any violence and ill-intent aimed at the ones she loves.
Her magic has always hungered to be used, and in this way she gives it an outlet.
---
Every fairytale has a Faery, a princess, a witch. It has True Love and True Evil, a hero and a villain. It always ends with the Faery destroyed, the witch devoured by flames, and the princess living happily-ever-after.
What happens when the Faery decides they don't want to be devoured?

According to a source, in the book "Beyond The Isle of the Lost", it is revealed that Wonderland chose not to join the United States of Auradon and the Queen of Hearts had to raise an army to fight for her freedom. The event became known as "The War of the Roses". With that in the air, I began thinking about other rulers who might’ve also opposed the Beast time and the perfect Queen came in mind
Tumblr media
I believe Elsa was definitely against the Beast rule, especially after the Isle of the Lost. She would believe that bringing villains back to life is cruel and unnecessary, but the Beast would wave her off. Elsa probably once did refuse to be part of Auradon. I believe if there was a war or a battle between them, it would be called “The Frozen War.”

Disney Descendants : Every Family Has Its Secrets.
Tumblr media
By me and @hannahhook7744
Summary: The Baduns and Lampwick are related.
Set in the ‘I was a kid but I wasn't clueless' verse.
Trigger Warnings: swearing, implied child abandonment, and dangerous behaviors.
Tags: Lampwick is Related to the Baduns, The Badun Detective Agency, Canon divergent, The Isle of the lost is a terrible place, the united states of Auradon is not perfect, etc.  .....
Knock.
Knock.
Knock.
“I’ll get it, Tiger Honey, don’t worry ,” Lampwick said as He went to the door.  He opened it and said “Hello , can I help you ? “
“Are you Romeo Rossi?” A thin boy around fifteen with brown hair, brown eyes, and ratty clothes asked.
“Yeah, but only my wife calls me that. You can call me Lampwick. Why do ya ask?”
“Cause we're related.” The teen replied, completely serious.
Well. As serious as one could look with a smudge of ink on their nose and bags under their eyes. Lampwick blinked in confusion. Then he laughed. “Ha Ok kid . Nice Prank but seriously who are ya really ??!”
“Your something, something cousin. This paper thingy on my computer said our grandmas were sisters.”  the boy said, stubbornly. “So I printed it out and came to find you.”
  “Ya Do know that not everything online is accurate right, kid? But I’ll humor you. Come inside kid and we’ll call my grandmother.”
“Aye aye, Captain.” The boy snorted.
.....
Lampwick dialed the number to his grandmother, Bria’s phone.
She answered almost immediately. Sounding grouchy. “Who is it?”
“Hey grandma! It’s me, Lampwick. I have this kid at my house—”
“I would hope so.You have three of them.”
“Yeah but this kid ain’t mine! He claims he’s my long lost cousin. Know anythin’ about that ?”
There was a long, long, long pause.
“Grandma,” Lampwick asked again. “Do I have a Long lost cousin that you haven’t told me about?”
“I…it can't be possible. My sister didn't have children that I knew of before she was arrested.” “Well try telling this kid that!” Lampwick said defensively.
“What's his name?”
“Hey kid “ Lampwick asked the boy. “What’s yer name? I never got it ..”
The kid sat on the couch, fidgeting with one of the side table decorations. Which he immediately put back when addressed. “Harry Badun.”
“Gotcha.. His name is Harry Badun, Grandma.”
She hung up.
“Hello? Oh great, she hung up! Now we’ll NEVER get to the bottom of this !”
“That sounds like an answer to me.”
“More like sketchy behavior! Well there’s only one solution and I really hate it…”
 Lampwick dialed his mama’s Number . “Hey Mama! We have a situation…”
“What did you do now?” Carina sighed. “It’s not me! It’s some kid who showed up on my doorstep claiming to be my long lost cousin!” Lampwick said defensively.
His mother was quiet for a moment.
“That's not something to joke about, Romeo. I don't know how you found out about your great aunt but—”
“He says his name is Harry Badun, Mama.”
“... Romeo, you better not be joking.”
“I’M NOT! YOU CAN ASK TIGER LILY! Better yet.. you can come here yerself !”
“I'll be there in an hour and if this is a joke, you're grounded for life.”
“Mama, ya can’t do that anymore. I'm married. .” Lampwick said Dryly.
“Try me.”
....
Harry was fidgeting with another knickknack: already bored of trying to gain information from listening in on Lampwick’s phone calls. “Wow Romeo. A long lost relative! That’s so exciting !” Tiger Lily said with a huge grin. ‘“Babe, please we don’t have all the facts yet ..”
“The paper says we're related and your mom and grandma acted weird when you said my name. That proves it.” Harry called out.
“Yeah, but if you’re pulling one over on us I'm gonna get the blame!” “Babe, calm down ..I’m sure your Mother didn’t mean it..” Tiger Lily said to her husband in a soothing voice.
“I'm not doing a con! My friends and our cousin looked it over, and I even had an AK look at it to confirm it was legit!” The brunette squawked, defensive.
Just then, there was a knock at the door.
“I'll get it.” Tiger Lily hummed.
....
Harry watched, curiously, as the two brunettes paced around the living room.
“This can’t be possible .Where did he even come from?” Carina said nervously.
“I’m from the isle.”
“THE WHAT?!” Both ladies shrieked.
The teen flinched hard.
When Carina saw the boy flinch she softened up a little. “I’m sorry sweetie. I didn’t mean to scare you. So,  how did you find out that you are related to us ?”
“Auradonandme.com? I was trying to figure out who my mom was and then I noticed there was something sketchy going on with the site, and did some research online. When I did that, I found out that the website was a newer version that … separated families starting with, heroic and villain ancestors and only showed half of them. Which led me to my grandma, Jezebel.”
“Jezebel you bitch,” Bria muttered under her breath.
“From there I did some more research to find out about your side of the family and found Lampwick's address, and decided to pop in to find out more.” Harry fidgeted.
“ Ok.. So How did you get off the isle ?” Carina asked.
“I’m one of the kids Ben brought over for his proclamation a month ago. Our cousin, Jace, and our friends were the other kids. I go to Auradon Prep and live in Gruteley County.” “Well that settles it,” Lampwick started with an ‘I told you so look to his mother. “Welcome back to the family, Harry!”
“How did you get to Neverland specifically kid “ Bria, asked, still not convinced.
“I took the bus to get to the port at four am and got on the fairey when it opened.” “Well in the words of my son, who I should’ve believed, welcome back to the family Harry!” Carina said with a faint smile.
“...does this mean I can tell my cousin ‘I told you so’?”
“Well, I told my mother that in my head, so sure kid!” Lampwick laughed . ....
Harry's stomach rumbled.
“So would you like to stay for breakfast, Harry?” Lampwick asked.
The boy shook his head. “I should probably get back to my foster parents before Jace has an aneurysm over me being gone.”
“Ah ok fair enough.” Lampwick shrugged.
“Hopefully I can sneak onto the fairey without being noticed.” Harry said offhandedly, grabbing his backpack and the paper. “The last thing I want is to end up with more Remedial Goodness homework.” “Would ya Like me to drive ya to the fairey?’
“Nah, it's fine. You lot probably have better things to do.”
“No I Insist” Lampwick stated firmly. “How old are ya by the way?”
“I just turned fifteen.”
“Wow, well congrats ! “ Lampwick chuckled.
“I can't wait to tell my cousin I was right.”
“And I can’t wait to meet em’,” Lampwick cheerfully added.  ....
Meanwhile…
Jace sat at the table, eating cereal breakfast.
“Jace, have you seen Harry?” Anita asked, very worried.
“No? Why?”
“ Because I haven’t seen him since last night.” Anita said.

Part 2 of At All Costs! [Part 1 here!]
~~~
"I'VE FIGURED IT OUT!"
Seeing Merlin, the wise and honorable leader of the Guardians, sprinting around the room like an excited little kid was not what Rose had expected to see when they'd come here. What they had expected when they'd been called to Merlin's tower, the highest in the castle, was maybe a new lesson on magic, or a stern lecture if he'd figured out that the latest catastrophe in the kitchen had been Rose's doing. This was neither of those things.
Anselm and Hop Low were just as confused as Rose.
"Uh. What did you figure out?" Rose asked him.
The grand sorcerer paused by a bookcase with a whirl of his black-and-gold robes, and took down a book. "Your home!"
"My home?" They repeated.
"Yes! The realm you come from!" Merlin confirmed.
Rose wished they had a snappy response for that, but all they could offer was stunned silence. What were they supposed to say to that? They’d decided a long time ago that if their home realm was sealed off then there was no use in dwelling on it. Though right now they were realizing they’d never said as much to Merlin.
They began, “You really didn’t have to go through the trouble…”
“Trouble? What trouble?” He smiled widely. “All the other Guardians know the realms they come from. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t as well. Look at this!” He unfurled a map on the table to show them.
“You borrowed Alberta’s map for this?” Rose said in surprise. Alberta rarely let anyone else touch her grandfather’s scroll; an item like the Falls Map was incredibly rare, after all.
“Only way we could possibly find out what it looks like,” Merlin said. “I couldn’t find any maps of it… recent maps, at least.”
Hop Low hopped down onto the table and peered at the map. Rose and Anselm joined as the map began to shine slightly, a familiar sight. But when usually, lines of ink would begin to bleed into the surface of the vellum, instead the magic just… went away, and the map stayed blank.
Merlin looked puzzled. “What? That’s not right,” he muttered, and waved his hand over the map. It shone again, but still, no map appeared. They’d never seen the Falls Map fail before; it could form a perfect map of any place they asked. “This can’t be – something’s wrong.”
“So I can tell,” Rose said. They reached into their back and brought out a leather-bound book with polished clasps… but what they intended to do with it, they didn’t know. The enchanted atlas couldn’t take them anywhere if they didn’t know the place they wanted to go. “Is something locking us out? I… always thought that was the case.”
Merlin glanced up at them. “What do you mean?”
“I mean, I’ve tried to go… home,” Rose said. “Tried the door from Storybrooke that Papa told me about. Tried every Grandfather Clock Door in the palace of Fantasia. When Regina tried to send me home, she couldn’t, and I simply ended up in the Enchanted Forest with everyone else when Storybrooke was destroyed. It just seems that… something’s keeping me from going home. Or that the realm is locked shut.”
“We’re running with a lot of assumptions,” Anselm interjected. “Merlin, what realm are we talking about?”
“A sister-realm of the Enchanted Forest,” Merlin explained. “So close you might think they were the same, but they’re not. It was once called the Mistlands – a collection of kingdoms. Now they’ve all united under one crown, as the United States of Auradon.”
“United States of Auradon,” Rose echoed, and something familiar about that name lasted in her mind. Yes. She thought it was right. It felt right.
“A bunch of kingdoms all united under a crown,” Anselm repeated, looking serious. His dark eyes looked stormy.
“United through diplomacy,” Merlin assured him, knowing exactly what Anselm thought. “Through choice and peace as they saw how it could benefit them all. Not conflict or warfare. And this is how Rose’s family became the rulers.”
“The rulers?” Rose said. “Rulers of what? The whole land?”
Merlin nodded. “Yes.”
Rose looked down at the blank map.
“This is all that I was able to discover thus far,” Merlin continued, as Anselm put an arm around Rose. “I was hoping we’d learn more when we got there… but as you’ve explained, it may very well be that the realm is locked for some reason, if even the Falls Map cannot find it.”
Hop Low walked across the blank vellum like he thought he could help. Accustomed to his antics, Rose scooped up the little mushroom fairy and set him back on their shoulder, where he belonged. They didn’t know what to think about this world, Auradon, where their family apparently ruled. And why was it sealed off? Why couldn’t they go back? Had it been a choice made by their family? Why?
All these questions continued to whirl around their mind as they left Merlin’s tower. The sorcerer had more to study, and for now, Rose didn’t want to badger him with more questions. In fact, they rather wanted to be alone. They gave Hop Low to Anselm and said they would find him later, and headed for the library.
The library was its own wing of the citadel, a labyrinth of rooms and shelves stuffed with tomes, tablets, scrolls, codices, statues, manuscripts – any and all manner of knowledge from almost every realm. Walking through the doors, Rose didn’t realize immediately that they weren’t alone, until someone unfamiliar spoke.
“So. This is the elusive Stronghold of the Guardians, huh?”
Rose looked up in shock, ready to fight immediately as their wand flashed into their hand. They found themselves facing a man they didn’t know, wearing long white and beige robes with blue diamonds on his cape, greying hair, and a confident smile.
“Who are you?” Rose said warily.
The intruder didn’t seem all that concerned about the wand pointed right at him. He continued to peruse a scroll as he leaned against an ornate old writing desk. “Well, you might call me a guardian, myself,” he said without much more than a glance at them. “You see, people trust me with their wishes, because I can grant them. Bet you don’t have a Guardian who can do that, huh?”
“What’s your name?” Rose demanded.
“Oh, how silly of me!” He tossed aside the scroll, stood up straight, and bowed to her with a flourish of his cape. “I am the incredible Magnifico of Rosas. At your service, Princess.”
Rose frowned. “Princess?”
“Isn’t that right?” Magnifico replied as he straightened again. “Daughter of the rulers of Auradon? Or, well, big sister now, since your brother’s on the throne…”
The names caught them off-guard. “You know about Auradon?”
Magnifico scoffed, like it was silly of them to ask as such. “Of course I do. Auradon was once the Mistlands, and the Mistlands were created by Rosas. My home.” He picked up the scroll again, unfurled it and added, “Of course, it’s been a really long time, what with some magical imprisonment, and then some not-so-magical imprisonment, courtesy of your dear old dad, but hey! What’s past is past, after all.” He gave her a sideways glance and a taunting smile. “I still protect his wish as I would protect anyone’s.”
Rose faltered. This random guy was throwing a lot of information at them, but one detail stood out from the rest. “You-you have… my dad’s wish?”
Magnifico cocked his head. “Well, it’s not like I lose them when they’re given to me,” he said arrogantly. “What kind of a Guardian does that?”
A very terrible Guardian, Rose admitted. But they couldn’t help their own burning curiosity. Could this really be true? It felt too… too coincidental. Things were never this easy or simple. Still, they found themselves asking, “What did he wish for?”
Something glinted in Magnifico’s eyes. “Would you like to see?” He lifted his cape like a magician and then whirled it back, revealing a pearlescent, shining blue orb, which floated towards Rose with a simple flick of his wrist.
Rose stared at it. They’d never seen anything like it. As it approached, they reached out a hand. A moment before the glassy surface might have brushed their fingertips, the deep bluish haze became a shining golden hue.
Magnifico saw. “Uh-uh. Mustn’t touch,” he chided, pulling the wish away from their hand with another simple gesture. “They’re very fragile.”
Slightly annoyed, Rose lowered their hand. They wanted to ask what that golden glow was, before something shimmered inside the orb, and they saw someone.
There was a man, a man with dark, neat hair, and bold-framed glasses. He wore a suit and vest, all the same royal-blue color. He was frowning, looking into the distance like he was searching for something, and then a moment later, someone else appeared: a teenager, who hurtled into his open arms, embraced tightly, as the man smiled.
Rose only needed a glimpse of that teenager to recognize them.
As if they had to be told, Magnifico said softly, “You see? He wished for you.”
Rose stared at the image of the wish, father and child reunited. A moment ago the man had looked lost, but now his eyes danced with joy, as if nothing in the world could mean so much to him as his child did. “He wished for me?”
“For you to come back to him,” Magnifico said, as the wish faded back into mist.
To come back. Rose’s heart sank. “I can’t,” they said. There’s no way to get back to my realm, I mean… I’ve tried.”
Magnifico raised an eyebrow. “You haven’t tried every way, clearly. Otherwise I wouldn’t be here,” he said, as the orb floated back to him and landed gently in his hands. He looked down at it, the blue glow reflecting in his eyes. “‘Cause you see, I can’t grant this wish. Only you can.” He looked up. “Will you?”
Rose stared at the wish. It was all cloudy now. What did that mean? It took them a moment to understand what Magnifico had said. “I can’t just run off and leave the Guardians immediately,” they argued. “I have to… at least, tell them I’m going somewhere. Disappearing without a trace is a recipe for trouble, they’d follow me and assume I was in danger…”
For a second, Magnifico looked annoyed, or at least, deeply unamused. Then he was smiling again. “Well, at least you think of them,” he said. “There’s no reason we have to leave now. Come find me when you’re ready. But try not to take too long, huh? Your dad is waiting.”
With that, he disappeared in a whirl of shimmering bluish smoke, taking their father’s wish with him.
For the writers ask. 1, 2, 17, 40, 50
1. What fic of yours would you recommend to someone who had never read any of your work? (In other words, what do you think is the best introduction to your fics?)
Probably the one about Wedding on Lost Revenge.
It's about popular ship (Huma!) but introduces most of my other favourites as well. Plus, I'm pretty proud of how the fic turned out.
Also, canon is a suggestion. Better get used to that early. (Though technically nothing in the fic goes against canon.)
2. Go to your AO3 “Works” page, to the sidebar with all the filters, and click the drop-down arrow for “Additional Tags.” What are your top 3-5 most used tags? Do you think they accurately represent your writing habits?
Isle of the Lost is a Terrible Place (Disney) (20); Chaos (9); Fluff (8); United States of Auradon is Not Perfect (Disney) (8); Friendship (7)
The list goes on to add "alcohol abuse/alcoholism" and "Unhealthy coping mechanisms". (Which I list cos trigger warnings and all)
So, yeah. I think it fits.
17. What highly specific AU do you want to read or write even though you might be the only person to appreciate it?
... Majority of my stuff is highly specific AU.
Isle of the Lost is Neverland, Ally of Neverland, thr Vibes only 1920 mafia au, well.
And way too much small canon divergences.
I really like the idea of Hook siblings mother being a siren (who might or might not have been trying to murder Captain Hook for two decades). Given the popular headcanon is Zarina, well.
40. Do you tend to reread fics or are you a one-and-done kind of person?
Reread! I reread things way too much. It's comforting.
50. Answer any question of your choice, or talk about anything you want to talk about!
I'm choosing the question about which song would make a good fic ✨
I've read at least two fics for Take Me to Church by Hozier and I'd gladly read another.
Praying by Kesha. I am having thoughts about this song. (Claudine Frollo and/or older two Hook siblings)
Honey I'm Good by Andy Grammer. Do I know what would the story be about? Well no but the atmosphere! (Anthony Tremaine)
Looking at Me by Sabrina Carpenter. Again, atmosphere. I've got an incredibly specific situation for this that no one actually wants to hear.
Dying to Live by Kailee Morgue. Atmosphere. Audrey Rose and also Isle girls in general.
Tales of Auradon (Descendants)
After Mal almost chose to return to the Isle of the Lost, King Ben noticed the flaw in his system. Working with Neverland Academy and Camelot Heights, his aim to invite the children of villains off the Isle of the Lost turns true to giving them a place to call home. Change however, is rarely a straight and simple course. These ten stories follow the happily ever afters of citizens of the United States of Auradon, new and old. A change in circumstance sends England-born Juliet Evans to New York to finish her high school education, but in a city of superheroes comes high house insurance prices, high stakes, and a high chance of danger. Hi!
Could you please write an one-shot for Arabella about her corruption arc?
Thanks!
Tumblr media
Trigger Warnings: Corruption, Anti-Magic Laws, Bigotry, etc.
🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊
Being magic in a kingdom where magic is frowned upon is not easy.
That is something Arabella has known since birth.
She was magic and most of Auradon hated magic. So much so to the point that it was damn near illegal to use it. Even if it would truly kill someone not to use it.
Beast didn’t care.
No one did.
Least of all Fairy Godmother who was still able to use her own magic in whatever way she pleased because she was Beast’s right hand.
It was a joke, honestly.
At least that’s how Arabella had always thought.
Because it wasn’t fair.
Nothing in her life or the life of any magic beings in Auradon’s lives were. Just like life wasn’t fair for those on the isle.
For whatever children Ursula, Morgana,  Marina Del Rey, and the other villains who had wronged her family had.
And maybe the fact that those children were rotting away on the isle, without the chance to do any wrong to her family, should have brought her joy.
But it didn’t.
Instead, it only served to enrage her even more.
Because they were innocent like she was and yet both her and all of them were being punished for mistakes that weren’t their own. For wrongs they hadn’t done.
They were rotting away— living on garbage and with little to know chance of getting to know their home lands.
And her home land?
Her kingdom?
Atlantica?
Well, Atlantica was like just about every other underwater Kingdom.
Polluted, full of litter, and reduced to a stupid tourist trap. Completely unrecognizable from the beautiful kingdom it once was.
Barely even a kingdom anymore.
And in just a few years, there would be nothing left of her precious kingdom for her and her many cousins to run.
All the while, her mother and aunts (minus her aunt Ariel), were all reduced to nothing more than tourist guides and sidekicks (even being a part of the council of sidekicks alongside literal animals). Barely getting any respect as princesses—their husbands and children getting even less respect than them.
Including Arabella herself.
Bitterly, Arabella wondered if this was what the villain kids felt like as they were left to rot on the isle.
She honestly wouldn’t be surprised if it was.
🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊
Hate is a strong thing.
It twists you into something nearly unrecognizable and it corrupts you.
Arabella would know, considering how much she had changed over the years.
Once she had been a curious child with wide, innocent, violet eyes who believed that things were always made fair in the end and that the good guys always won.
Once she had believed there was such a thing as good guys and bad days. That the world was that black and white.
Once she had believed that she and her cousins and friends were happy.
That Auradon was fair and good.
But now, she knew the truth.
Auradon hated magic and as the years passed, magic got more and more restricted.
And magical beings’ lives got harder and harder.
Her mothers, aunts, uncles, and many, many, many cousins received little to no respect and were restricted in many ways like she herself was. And they were all lying to themselves, saying they were content with this life.
Everyone except Harmony, who was young and oblivious, and Arabella, who now understood that everything was bullshit.
That the way the vks were being treated, even when the first four were finally allowed in Auradon, was unfair.
That the way she and every other magical being in Auradon were being treated was unfair.
And by the time the annual Seaside Festival rolled around, Arabella refused to allow Harmony to ever come to the same realization that she had.
Even if she had to kill every non-magical being in Auradon to make it happen.
🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊
Stealing her grandfather’s trident was a risky move, but as she held it in her hand, Arabella was glad she had done it. Because now she had the power to right the wrongs done by Beast and his people.
And as she let her purple hair fall into her face, she gripped the trident in her hand and brought it down into the sand with all her might. Summoning the biggest storm Auradon had ever seen with a smile.
“BWA HA HA BWA HA HA! “
No one was ever gonna control her or her people again.
NO ONE.
Wicked Finger: Part One
All his life, his future was laid before him. He was the son of Queen Belle and King Adam, otherwise known as King Beast, because of his quick temper and harsh, bellowing voice. And because once, he had been cursed.
He was told by his mother that love is fragile. It might be hard to be true and difficult to find, but it would be worth all the time in the world.
He was told the opposite of his father. Love is like lightning. You're struck one moment and blinded in another. It's instantaneous and stunning.
He was the Crown Prince of the United States of Auradon. He was to be the King someday. When he would turn 16 years old.
And yet, despite a life of rules, tiring and endless events catered to his every whim and delight, it became dull. Repetition tends to lessen your joy for things, no matter how exquisite the food is, who you meet, what you do.
Prince Ben was told that he was promised a life of true love. And he'd met Princess Audrey, House of Auroria and the daughter of Prince Philip and Sleeping Beauty. She was perfect. Sugary sweet smiles, gentle affections, bashful and graceful dances. She knew all the rules, all the delights of flowers, especially roses. Roses were her utmost favorite.
But she was too perfect. Despite her smelling like roses and sugar cookies and cake frosting, he felt amiss. As if he was nothing but an impostor. He was accomplished, yes, but had he not been born a prince, perhaps a dwarf like Doug or but a simple servant, he would not have all that he has today.
Tonight, he's mulling over his dream he'd had mere months ago. About a girl.
A girl that wasn't his perfect and delightful Audrey Rose, his perfect, beloved girlfriend. Oh, no. She was not Audrey at all.
The Great Goddess Themis had given him a dream after that dream. He'd known it was her, for there was no other with a blindfold as radiant and yet so lifeless.
She laid before him her blindfold, her scales and her sword. She'd inquired him which he would choose, and so he sat there in silence, contemplating which.
He knew it was a test. But, of course. Why else would she, of all the goddesses and gods, come to him, but for a test?
The more he lingered his hand, the more he thought, the more distant she grew. The more the darkness spread. He sensed something amiss. So, he chose what felt best.
True justice was not swift, like the sword. True justice was not balanced.
He chose the blindfold.
Because justice is blind.
She knew that he knew that the kids on the Isle of the Lost were doomed. His father had punished an entirely new generation because of what their parents had done.
It wasn't fair.
The system was broken. And he was determined to fix it.
So, he wrapped the blindfold about his head and rested against the chilled quartz wall.
No matter what he'd been born as, he was born to be the King of the United States of Auradon. He was to fix what his parents had broken. He would use his status to do what is fair and just.
The system will be made better. To atone for so much misery and despair his fellow royals inflicted upon poor children who had no doubt but adapt and grow into the ripped and holed hand-me-down shoes their family gave them. It would be mended to protect and empower everyone.
Tonight was the eve of his birthday. Before he is to be made the newly appointed King of Auradon. And he has a plan.
He must have one.
So the girl with violet hair and glimmering green eyes would no longer suffer.
