background: born as the heir to the shadow court, he grew up with harsh expectations and even harsher parents. they were obsessed with making him as strong as possible, and at a young age was handed over to his grandmother’s experimentations. additionally, his older brother, maddox, delighted in torturing him. when he was twelve, he and maddy finally ran away successfully after multiple attempts. they ran to the owl house, who mostly rehabilitate run aways, where the rest of their family soon joined them. now, he’s the king of an accidental coup against his father, and is trying very hard to protect his cousins and daughter from maddox.

Loneliness is almost a constant and yet a distant memory at the same time. Myr doesn't often feel lonely, Magnus is an almost constant companion, his other half never far, but there have been times when they hide to hide separately. Times where their grandmother had come looking. It had been one of the most terrifying moments in his life. If Myr is alone, if he lets everything drop, he's just exhausted. He's had to fight to survive, to live, to even move. Magnus knows so much, but Myr doesn't want him to know just how bad it is.

break: What would cause your OC to break down completely? What do they look like when that happens? Has anyone ever seen them at their lowest?

Either of his brothers dying. Magnus, more so considering that they are twins, but if either Magnus or Mars dies, there is nothing he wouldn't do. Nothing he wouldn't raze to the ground, no one he wouldn't hurt-torture-kill.

His lowest that anyone has ever seen, that has happen yet, has only been seen by Magnus and his Father. It was after Mars finally got out, when he was in a coma in the Golden Escape. It wasn't pretty.

future: What's the worst possible future for your OC? Are they taking steps to avoid that outcome? Are they even aware it's a possibility?

The worst possible would be his family dead and the board being leveled. Not the whole family, not all the Mims, but his brothers? His mom? Dad? They mean the world to Myr.

As for taking steps? There is no magic on the Isle, well no magic that people can actively use. However, Runes aren't inherently magical. And they soak up residual magic so beautifully. Despite what others think, the Board is one of the most protected and fortified entities on the Isle. And it's entirely due to Myrddin's (well-placed) paranoia.

heartbreak: Have they ever had a relationship that ended badly? Experienced some other kind of heartbreak? What happened?

No. Most of the Isle doesn't know Myrddin exists nevertheless is alive. He hasn't had a chance to have a heart break.

midnight: What keeps your OC up at night? Do they have nightmares? Fears? Anxieties? What do they do in the small hours of the morning when they should be sleeping?

Physically? Pain. Lots of pain. Mentally? So many nightmares. Fear for his family, of his grandmother. What he does depends on where he is. If he's with his dad, they just talk, sometimes about magic, runes, what they can and can't do on the Isle or about nothing at all. If he's with the Board, he will find Magnus and just sit with him, maybe read if he can, but just being near helps him so much.

pain: What's the worst pain your OC has ever felt? Do they have a high pain tolerance?

Magnus's exit from Madam Mim wasn't quiet or peaceful, he nearly died. He did die actually. Myrddin felt part of his soul rip from his body when that happened. He doesn't remember exactly what happened but from what others say happened, what they heard, what he did? It wasn't pretty, he might not remember the event, but he remembers the pain.

he’s 18, the oldest mim grandchild. his mother is obvi another oc but his father is chernabog. he leads a gang that controls whatever magic is on the isle - he controls how much of the training happens (but obviously there’s witches that don’t fall under his control, like the sea witches or evie) and both the witch academy and dragon hall fall under his territory.

he’s very over protective of his family and gang. he does whatever it takes to protect them, and therefore is not crossed. he will not hesitate to kill if he has to. despite that, he’s also kind of helpful? while he can’t really stop anyone from working at the schools, he does know everything that happens there and will shut down anything he doesn’t like. he also fights frollo the most, so most people threatened by him (including claudine, most of her magical friends are in his gang) are under his protection.

all he wants is to play arcade games with someone, sleep peacefully, and maybe sob for a bit.

Well, he'd be related to Maddy but I don't know how fond of him she'd be. She's a lot more like their granny than maybe he'd like.

He still has room to hang out with others though. If he's interested in magic, he'd probably get along with most of the well intended magic users....and even a few not well intended but reasonably chill ones like Freddie, Jade and Mal.

AK wise, I think he'd like Jordan's 'I do what I want' attitude with regards to magic. He might want to train Jane to use magic too, which she might like!

Some other 'big brother' types like Jay and Aziz would probably like him and if he likes video games, Carlos and Doug will probably be friends with him too.

updated witches guild lore! first of all they are no longer called the witches guild because it’s a boring name. they are now called the deviltry, which means reckless mischief, witchcraft, wickedness. they do a few things:

- they run the arcade and dragon hall (facilier backs them) and also probably the witch academy to some extent. they are powerful.

- they control magic deals. people will come to them for help, and if they can make a good bargain, they’ll help. they’ll only screw people over if they’re particularly awful by isle standards. usually, it’s a facilier and magnus making the deal.

- magic training. i personally think a good amount of magic is available on the isle, but even if it’s only a little, people are going to learn and train. they have the most magical info, largest range of magical abilities on the isle due to numbers. safe is subjective on the isle and around magic but it’s at least good training.

- they keep the ultra powerful demon villains like chernbog, zhan tiri, and chatana in check through whatever means possible. outright fighting, strict deals. whatever. this can also act as protecting specific people from them, as plenty of the more magical villains try to build armies to get revenge on auradon and not everyone wants that (this is actually why the gang was founded, but explaining that more is mim lore saved for a fic)

- they terrorize frollo. sometimes they outright fight his men, sometimes they help claudine, sometimes they trash the church. sometimes they help cj and/or ivy burn it down.

as they control a good amount of land, they have a good amount of people under their protection/control, but official members who carry out duties include:

- magnus mim (leader, oldest mim grandkid, founded the gang)

- maddy mim (second in command, magnus’s younger sister)

- freddie facilier (third in command)

- celia facilier

- yzla

- iduna (elsa’s daughter)

- marya rasputin (and maybe one of her sisters before she died if I have my timeline right)

- zevon

- cj hook (honorary member, but she hangs around often enough she might as well be a member)

their main backers are facilier, elsa, and yzma when she decides she knows english. their closest allies are the lost revenge and hallow’s eve (a gang made up of the halloween town citizens) due to the faciliers and mims having family in each respective gang. through the lost revenge, they have an alliance with the sovereign dread. they’re willing to make alliances with other gangs, if they can make a good enough deal. they’re most reluctant to ally with mal’s gang since she and the mims hate each other, but sometimes her help is needed.

also, the faciliers always rig the arcade games. magnus doesn’t, but no one believes him.

ranking my mims based on how threatening they are

magnus: listen if magnus knows you beyond a kid who happens to live in his territory, you’re either an ally or you should start running. he is the son of two of the most powerful demons on the isle, he can do magic under the barrier, he owns a large portion of the isle and he’s allies with most other large gangs. he does not hesitant to kill. 10/10 do not engage.

maddy: how do you feel about being part of an unethical experiment? just don’t tell magnus he doesn’t like it. she has a very short temper, always responds with violence, and holds a grudge literally forever. she will remember you and that is a threat. she doesn’t even have to touch you to kill you, she makes poison for fun. also, magnus is overprotective, so if you look at her wrong you best start planning your funeral. 10/10 she will dissolve your bones.

moira: she would be infinitely more intimidating if her lungs worked properly and also taller. that being said, she has blood magic and death magic, though she doesn’t like using it. she is also feral and best friends with cj, so the hooks have stakes in protecting her as well. and not only does she have magnus’ protection, she has maddy’s! maddy may dislike her, but she’s the only one allowed to hurt moira, thank you very much. 8/10 she will reverse your blood flow.

morcant: most people forget he exists. he’s not loud like his sister or cousins, and he’s not great with magic either. he mostly just does whatever moira, maddy or magnus want him to. the most threatening things about him his how quiet he is and how likely he is to have blackmail on you, his biology knowledge (thank you maddy), and the protection his older cousins provide. 5/10 do you want to see his frogs please let him show you his frogs.

malise: listen. she cannot die. she is a vampire. if you hurt her she just laughs. she lets maddy experiment on her because she literally cannot be hurt. there’s not many chances to really offend her because no one really sees her, and if you beat her gambling she’ll just win/steal it back. if she does fight you . . . good luck. again, she cannot die, and she’s far stronger and more agile than most. and again . . . magnus. 6/10 she has definitely made her own gravestone at dragon hall.

mardella: she is the baby of the family and therefore not a threat on her own. she’s tiny and her magic isn’t great yet, she might not be able to manipulate much under the barrier. she is still a vampire though so what applies to malise applies to her. she doesn’t really get upset, she’s more likely to annoy someone to death. that said, hurt her and you have literally every single mim coming for you. you thought magnus was bad? you have no idea. 7/10 has youngest child privileges.

- he and hadie have a weird friendship. on one hand, magnus hates mal, but on the other hand the two of them are some of the strongest kids on the isle, magic wise.

- he is very feared by the isle. he controls a good portion of the land, he’s always fighting mal, he’s able to use more magic under her barrier than most, and he’s very, very protective. anyway associated with him in any positive way is not to be touched.
