updated witches guild lore! first of all they are no longer called the witches guild because it’s a boring name. they are now called the deviltry, which means reckless mischief, witchcraft, wickedness. they do a few things:

- they run the arcade and dragon hall (facilier backs them) and also probably the witch academy to some extent. they are powerful.

- they control magic deals. people will come to them for help, and if they can make a good bargain, they’ll help. they’ll only screw people over if they’re particularly awful by isle standards. usually, it’s a facilier and magnus making the deal.

- magic training. i personally think a good amount of magic is available on the isle, but even if it’s only a little, people are going to learn and train. they have the most magical info, largest range of magical abilities on the isle due to numbers. safe is subjective on the isle and around magic but it’s at least good training.

- they keep the ultra powerful demon villains like chernbog, zhan tiri, and chatana in check through whatever means possible. outright fighting, strict deals. whatever. this can also act as protecting specific people from them, as plenty of the more magical villains try to build armies to get revenge on auradon and not everyone wants that (this is actually why the gang was founded, but explaining that more is mim lore saved for a fic)

- they terrorize frollo. sometimes they outright fight his men, sometimes they help claudine, sometimes they trash the church. sometimes they help cj and/or ivy burn it down.

as they control a good amount of land, they have a good amount of people under their protection/control, but official members who carry out duties include:

- magnus mim (leader, oldest mim grandkid, founded the gang)

- maddy mim (second in command, magnus’s younger sister)

- freddie facilier (third in command)

- celia facilier

- yzla

- iduna (elsa’s daughter)

- marya rasputin (and maybe one of her sisters before she died if I have my timeline right)

- zevon

- cj hook (honorary member, but she hangs around often enough she might as well be a member)

their main backers are facilier, elsa, and yzma when she decides she knows english. their closest allies are the lost revenge and hallow’s eve (a gang made up of the halloween town citizens) due to the faciliers and mims having family in each respective gang. through the lost revenge, they have an alliance with the sovereign dread. they’re willing to make alliances with other gangs, if they can make a good enough deal. they’re most reluctant to ally with mal’s gang since she and the mims hate each other, but sometimes her help is needed.

also, the faciliers always rig the arcade games. magnus doesn’t, but no one believes him.

I got Yzla feelings what can I say.

The two laid curled together on their cot. Zevon's head laying on Yzla's chest, still shaking even while Yzla stroked ae's hair and shushed aer. Yzla had tried so hard to keep aer out of it all. Tried to keep them both afloat and off the streets. It had been hard when their mother had died, leaving Yzla to take care of little 3 year old Zevon at a young tender age of 9.

The only reason Zevon had made it so long was because Yzla held the unique title of the only voluntary member of the Overgrowth. It didn't save Yzla from Maeve, but Maddy would occasionally turn a blind eye to some things. Particularly to Yzla's genius younger sibling. But such things can only be ignored as long as Maeve remained unaware.

Ae's hands start clawing at the bandages again. The itchy fabric no doubt irritating aes skin but they had to remain on, at least for a few more hours. Yzla grabbed aes wrists, pulling them into aes chest. Yzla adjusted to wear Zevon could be in a bear hug, preventing ae from scratching at anything.

Maeve had finally looked over Yzla's calculations and noticed a different handwriting on the paper. Despite Yzla's attempts to distract her or evade the question, Maeve still found out that Zevon had helped, that Zevon had done extremely high level calculations, that Zevon knew her recipes.

The beating Yzla had gotten was brutal. But seeing Zevon get dragged by aes hair into the basement. Seeing ae get forcibly drugged and tattooed and tortured. That was far worse than anything Maeve could do to Yzla. And she knew it.

Ae whimpered, the meager pain meds Ginny could give aer beginning to wear off. Maeve had intervened and threatened to cut off the Escapes medication supply (well at least as much as she could, Ginny was the one area that Maddy refused to back down from), if she properly treated Zevon. The bitch wanted to make sure both Yzla and Zevon knew the price of lying and hiding information. Well, aes shattered ankle and black and blue skin really drove the point home. And any minute now ae would start coming down off of whatever she had decided to shoot ae up with. The smile she had given Yzla meant that it was nothing good. Yzla would probably find out later when doing inventory or if Maeve decides to give Yzla a punishment tomorrow.

But that was tomorrow. For tonight, all Yzla had to worry about was Zevon.

Ae was nine. NINE! Ae was too young for this! Yzla should've done better. Should've rewritten everything, Should've hidden ae more. Ae was young than when Yzla had joined. No no no no no. Yzla should've taken it, should've demanded to take the beating. No matter how much worse it would've been. Zevon is too young. Ae's just so young.

Wore obnoxious big coats at some point

See, this is hard because the concept of VKs is so much more intriguing than the AKs.

That being said, my least favorite VK I think would have to be Zevon. He's just 'eh' compared to everyone else, but even then, I don't mind him.

I pose a theory: Zevon and Kaz

So as we know, Bradley Steven perry played Kaz in the Disney XD show Mighty Med and also voiced Zevon in Wicked world, yes? Well, the book “the isle of the lost” confirms that Mighty Med exists in the descendants universe, if I am to quote “then it switched again to two teenage boys who seemed to be running a hospital for superheros” (this quote in reference to when Carlos broke the barrier around the isle to get better tv channels) We also know from the books that Wicked world is also cannon, so this begs the question… do people think Zevon just sounds a lot like Kaz from mighty med? OR if we want to get a little nuttier, is Zevon ACTUALLY Kaz?? Your probably saying to yourself “Bucket, that sounds absurd!” And you’d be right, but as we know, wormhole transportation is a thing within mighty med so it isn’t completely out of the realm of possibility for kaz to have wound up on the Isle of the lost is all I’m saying

The Overgrowth runs the forested area not already claimed by the Crimson Army. They don’t get many territory disputes due to their control over illicit substances and their willingness to cut off anyone who crosses them.

The Overgrowth, while not having that much power, is seen as a necessity. They are the only ones with the knowledge of how to cook drugs and make alcohol. If anyone seems to be gaining said knowledge, they either quickly forget, disappear, or join the Overgrowth itself.

i wanna know your opinion on yzma's son from the descendants cartoon

ASDFGKJFDG so i've never really seen the descendants cartoon (in fact, i've only ever watched the first descendants movie, but i do plan on watching at least the second one) but i know about zevon here because i have a friend who's into descendants and she told me about him after i asked her if yzma had any kids. so i also know about her daughter yzla from the book series. and uhh first of all the thought of yzma having high school aged kids makes me go insane 😭 like... i do think that yzma was a beautiful and charming woman in her youth and it's not entirely implausible to me that she could've had kids at one point but i would've thought that if it happened, it happened a loooooooong time ago. one time in emperor's new school kronk ordered her a cake with 200 candles on it which to be fair doesn't necessarily mean she's actually that old but STILL... how is she out there having a teenage son!? who tf is the man that chose to make a baby with her!? does she love zevon and treat him well?? because if she does then i know kuzco would be literally so mad if he found out yzma was actually capable of being a decent parental figure!

anyway i did read this guy's wiki page back when my friend told me about him and just now i watched all the episodes he appears in so i could get a better idea of what he's like. and honestly he's kind of funny. i like that he insists on saying shit like "kablooey" and "ba-bam" every time he throws out a potion, and the way he says things like "condescendinating" instead of condescending or "introducturate" instead of introduce literally reminds me of tigger. like from winnie the pooh. his design, though... look i know yzma is literally grayish-purple but she is also incan so i wish her son (and yzla as well) looked a little less white. i also wish they had done more with him because he has extremely little screentime (i did not realize until looking it up that this show had 3-minute episodes), but of course disney always does the emperor's new groove dirty 😔

As they were growing their influence, there would be deals made to other factions or possessions that would be temporarily sold. And in the beginning, they didn't even have a good way to test their products.

This all, of course, fell onto Maddy before stretching to the younger cousins until the Overgrowth finally acquired workers who fulfilled these purposes.
