quiet is right handed and always holds the blade in his right hand as a result. he is tied to the narrative that the narrator constructed through the blade and no matter what happens in any runthrough the knife will always end up in his hand at least once no matter what he does or what he truly wants
the princess is always chained by her right hand. no matter what, she is always bound to the cabin and the narrative that the narrator constructs. tsm is represented through countless arms and yet the princes is always placed in a basement with her right hand shackled
both quiet and the princess are trapped in the construct, parallel to one another. the knife is to the long quiet as the chain is to the shifting mound
in the prisoner chapter, if quiet becomes chained then he must lose the knife. there is no purpose to overlapping ones shackles, he just trades one for another
anytime that the princes recieves the knife, she becomes free of her chain. there is no purpose to overlapping ones shackles, she just trades one for another
the knife and shackles are equivalent, and both must be shed in some way for the shifting mound and the long quiet, or the princess and quiet/hero
at the heart of the shifting mound, the princess will always be free. the shifting mound is free to choose anything she wants. shes waiting for you to choose. the apotheosis establishes that she could destroy the construct if she so chose, but if the long quiet doesnt break free with her, destroying the construct will destroy him, too. she is free of her shackle but she has a choice between leaving with the long quiet or killing him- mirroring that the long quiet has a choice between leaving with the shifting mound or killing her. only that the shifting mound made her choice, and that is that no matter what happens, she will not destroy the long quiet
at the heart of the shifting mound, quiet has the choice to take the knife and give into the narrators script- to abide by it or return to its beginning and reread the story all over again- or to abandon his own shackles and free himself from the story the narrator wove
effectively, the chain and the blade must be abadoned in some way for the two to be free. with or without reaching the heart of the shifting mound, neither can be free until the remnants of the construct are abandoned, until their unique tether to the construct is left behind
and if the two are a palindrome, then the letter in the center is the cabin- a structure that exists for both of them and is a construction of the narrator that they both influence differently but in equal amounts. they both have been built around it and feom it, very literally, and the chain and blade are both offshoots of it that the narrator uses to control them

Kitty Being Constructed.
#nunodoll terry cat..... not made of terry LOL im using some linen weave from an old busted t shirt rn#mostly as a mockup to learn how to do this thang. but im liking my lumpy cat#out of terry it'd be a lot more forgiving because of the pile. altho im glad i did a mockup because im learning a lot#1) i forgot to press the middle seams in the head before sewing the back and front together and i shoulda LOL#2) the original pattern probably either stuffs the tail before sewing it in and forgot to mention OR uses the terry pile as a faux stuffing#i just stuffed it since i had no pile LOL and 3) mayhaps runo was using a knit terry?#most toweling i find is woven but theres some things in the pattern that are really tricky without a TINY bit of give#like not a lot of stretch but like a liiiiittle bit. it looks like theyre using a weave but its so low resolution so i dunno <3#maybe even a weave with a little more give? because the inner ears and legs are smaller intentionally#but its a little tricky to do with this linen kjfsdhjlkfsdfd i also shoulda uses a lighter pen to trace it and also probably lighter thread#cause red thread behind slightly translucent blue makes those seams a little muddy. my laziness in never switching out bobbin threads has#finally caught up to me HGKJDSKFDSJHdsa but its fun! i gotta finish up adding seams and a face to the head and then sew da head on#(thats what the blue thread it for. i remembered to at least use it for the finishing touches LOL)#and then i shall have a silly lumpy kitty. hee hee

"You have no idea what I want. I have been in agony for eight months, Alizeh. Do you know how hard it’s been to pretend I don’t know you? To pretend I don’t want you? To act as if I haven’t known every inch of your body in my dreams? To learn that your heart has been entangled elsewhere? I look at you and I can’t breathe. In my mind, you are already mine."

hello!! this is a super random question and you don’t have to answer but how do you keep such a good track of the daredevil show timeline?? all of your fics are so coherent and seem to follow it amazingly well so i’m just wondering if you have any tips for that like it’s so noticeable how well you know the show when i reread trt and i really admire that :p
THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY TO READ CAUSE THE DD TIMELINE IS INSANE, SO THANK YOU. I've spent more than one night tearing my hair out over it and that appears to have paid off! 😂
So I have two things I did in order to really track the Daredevil timeline.
1. In order to reference larger Marvel events along with other Defenders events, I use this timeline by gamesradar which has both the movies and the Defenders shows on a year by year timeline. This gave me a rough idea of gaps between seasons along with when other characters might pop up.
But more importantly,
2. I created my own Daredevil timeline that goes episode by episode. I did this by going through a series rewatch focused specifically on the timeline itself. Every time day shifted into night, I noted it. Matt waking up? That's a new day. Indicator via dialogue that it's been 2 days? Add that gap. Season reference like Ben mentioning in late S1 that it's getting colder (thus a sign that S1 takes place from at least early summer to fall)? That's written down. With this I could roughly track not only how much time passes in each episode, but I also was able to have a general idea of how long the individual seasons last. Doing this allowed me to weave my own plotline in and out of canon and construct a concurrent TRT events timeline in a way that feels like it fits! I even added some sections on Matt's injuries so I could track not just when he's hurt but his heal times. This is in addition to a quicknotes sort of guide I made for each episode so I could quickly double check my references without necessarily having to boot up Dis+. Obviously some canon gets changed in TRT but when I do change things, I make sure the goal of those canon scenes are still met, whether that's clues or foreshadowing.
Now granted, some parts of the canon timeline I quickly discovered are batshit. S2 is supposed to take place in the course of about 2 weeks, for example, which is WAY too fast for that big of a trial, and Matt's healing period in S3 is hilariously short. Those are moments I chose to take a crowbar to and stretch out a bit (in TRT, jury selection for Frank's trial, for example, no longer takes 2 days; now it takes a week, and the trial itself will be a bit longer than in canon), but because I had my timeline of events, I knew there was a long gap after Elektra's death (summer, roughly) and the little bit at the end of S2 where he goes to meet Karen with his mask (I think it's early winter, if I remember my timeline correctly). So that's kinda how I know where I can fiddle with the timeline while still ensuring it all flows coherently and doesn't ram into anything!

DC lately has developed a habit of putting Grant Emerson into situations fraught with Plot and Character Development Potential and then proceeding to do Absolutely Nothing with it.
He's back from the dead! And can still remember being a Black Lantern and thus probably the horrific circumstances of his own death! Are we going to examine that? No. Now he's on a mission that reunites him with one of his most prominent mentors, whom he hasn't gotten to interact with since like 2000, and will they get to even speak to each other? Nope. Then they give him a new teenage sidekick who's actually a deaged octogenarian who probably knew the father Grant never got to meet. Will we explore this dynamic? Especially when it's hinted that they're both terrible influences on each other? Absolutely not. Don't be silly.
Anyway, the latest development is such a fascinating potential plot for him, and he's not even getting to show up while it happens.
So apparently there was a Situation that resulted in a lot of heroes getting their powers drained. But it was resolved, another day saved--except not everyone has gotten their powers restored. And it turns out that one of those heroes is none other than Damage.
Tumblr media
(Justice League: Unlimited 2024 #1)
And it appears that Stargirl and Captain Marvel or whatever he's calling himself these days have been tasked with investigating the problem and restoring those absent powers.
What we don't know is how Grant is responding to this, how it's affecting him, and whether he even wants those powers back. Because if I had to pinpoint one superhero who views his powers as a burden and a curse more than a gift, that would be Grant. Ever since his powers activated, his life has been nonstop stress and trauma (not that it was great before but now it's even worse). He has to worry constantly about hurting people or destroying things. He thinks of himself as a weapon. It's not an enviable existence.
He's not like heroes such as Bart or Kon, who rely on their powers for most things in life or for a sense of identity/self-worth. If he woke up one morning and his powers were gone, it's extremely likely that he would be relieved more than devastated. He would finally be free to lead a relatively normal life.
But instead, everyone's insisting on making sure that he gets his powers back. They're too useful not to have around, and he's obligated to do what he was engineered to do whether he wants to or not: be in effect a soldier, a weapon. He's probably surrounded by people who can't understand why he wouldn't want to keep living this life. How is this affecting him? If a means of restoration is found, would he refuse it, resulting in conflict?
Of course, it's a foregone conclusion that he must remain explosive; otherwise the whole point of his character is gone. But there's so much story that could be told from this scenario, and they're just. not. doing anything with it.
