Buckskin Belle Sanders was another tough, sharp shooting Western gal of the late 1940s and early 1950s. Belle, aided and abetted by her younger brother Billy, owned and ran a ranch and combined sassy sexiness with an uncompromising lack of tolerance for outlaws and rustlers. In fact it is the hated horse thieves who get the wrong side of Belle’s ire in this story. Like a tougher version of Annie and Oakley and Tagg, Belle and Billy think nothing of pursuing a gang of five thieves, led by a notorious villain known as Clod Devlin, all the way to their hide out in a deserted ghost town. Although led into a trap by Devlin and captured, the two siblings fairly easily get the drop on the three outlaws left to guard them before then rounding up Clod and his last remaining accomplice. The rustler gang have to endure the humiliation of being rode into town for a rendezvous with the sheriff, hands tied behind their backs, captured by a sixteen year old boy and a “gun-totin’ “ young woman. What is distinctive about this adventure, apart from the murderous intent of the outlaws, is the direct reference to the hanging Devlin will now face for his crimes, the sheriff even sadistically telling the prisoner he will be strung up by the same rope as he used on his father. Belle, with a marked absence of feminine sympathy, clearly approves of what sounds like frontier justice.
Buckskin Belle featured in all fifteen issues of The Texan comic, published by St John Comics in 1949 and 1950. The title was usually written and illustrated by Matt Baker. This page is from an untitled Belle story that appeared in The Texan #3 (February 1949).

The Rory Calhoun Centennial
Born 100 years ago this day, film and television actor Rory Calhoun (Francis “Frank” McCowan. 1922-1999). Do you find him indistinguishable from Victor Mature? I always have. Mature was Italian, though, Calhoun was Irish. He was discovered by Alan Ladd with his shirt off (he was a day laborer) and referred to his wife, talent agent Sue Carol. Prior to acting, Calhoun had been a cowboy, a miner,…

1941 crowley is so funny to me especially the bookshop scene because he’s like. he says “imagine i’m a man in uniform and i am just SO horny. i am painfully incredibly turned on and i need to see you do something. anything. haha what would. what would you do to m—i mean for me”

Nothing to see here, just the state of Texas denying a woman compensation for her stillbirth because the foetus didn’t technically have any rights.

wising you a very sleeping on your f/os chest so you can hear their hearbeat or vice versa. wishing you a very instinctively moving towards one another and pulling eachother close and holding on tighter in sleep. wishing you a very one quietly talking to the other who's spouting off sleeptalk-nonsense in loose responses. wishing you a very ignoring blankets in favor of eachothers warmth. wishing you a very kisses to the crown of the forehead and the cheek and the collarbone and the shoulder and the crook of the jaw right where it meets the neck. ok?

people are always saying they want a texan but they're never ready for the enrichment necessary to keep one hale and healthy. where's your chainsaw? your local woods? your power tools? tell me what you're gonna do the first time this texan tells you they made plans for your whole weekend? a texan is a lifetime commitment, and they often live well past ten years after you adopt them. think before you purchase
