Entertainment Weekly, September 2014
“She works hard. It was clear. She came in and she knew more about [the show] than Adam and I. I really think the world of her and Pharrell. They are good people.”

Ringo Starr Receives Inaugural Joe Chambers Musicians Legacy Award from Musicians Hall of Fame
- “What a great day,” Starr said
Ringo Starr is the recipient of the inaugural Joe Chambers Musicians Legacy award.
Starr received the honor Sept. 24, while being inducted as the 170th member of the Musicians Hall of Fame.
“What a great day … I want to thank everybody who was there. Peace and love, Ringo,” Starr said in a statement.
The Chambers award is named for the Hall of Fame co-founder.
“It is an honor to induct the legendary Ringo Starr into the Musicians Hall of Fame this afternoon,” CEO Linda Chambers said in comments carried by the Tennessean.
“It would have meant the world to Joe to have been here today, but in spirit, and through the Joe Chambers Musicians Legacy award, we know he’s here with us. Ringo - you have contributed immeasurably through your music and philanthropy on a global level, and we couldn’t be more proud to welcome you into our Hall of Fame family.”

A week after an AI-generated high school football game recap went viral, Gannett is pausing its use of an artificial intelligence sports writing tool in local outlets, per Axios.
The article in question was a recap of the football game between Ohio schools Westerville North and Westerville Central. The article’s robotic style and lack of personality set off social media as people from all around the sports media world not only ripped it to shreds but also held it up as an example of why this is a bad look for the newspaper industry.
(a bit later on)
“This local AI sports effort is being paused,” a Gannett spokesperson tells Axios. “In addition to adding hundreds of reporting jobs across the country, we are experimenting with automation and AI to build tools for our journalists and add content for our readers. We are continually evaluating vendors as we refine processes to ensure all the news and information we provide meets the highest journalistic standards.”

HEY! I finally heard from my loved ones in Tennessee and I am so grateful to say that they are well and were minimally impacted. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for their neighbors. I wish that I could say I'm not heartbroken by the fact that I'm reading all of these statements from politicians and others who are only mentioning North Carolina and forgetting about the people of Tennessee but that would be a lie. The people of Tennessee are good people, the people of Appalachia are good people. Our native wildlife are living creatures and their populations never fully recovered after the wildfires in 2016. Generations of history and memories and culture have been wiped away. Currently, the only fund that has been verified by the TN Government for disaster relief is from East Tennessee Foundation's Neighbors to Neighbors Fund. I'm sure in the coming days and weeks, there will be further information on funds and relief efforts from many Tennessee organizations including Dolly Parton and her estate and the Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley.
For right now, I just think it would be super neat if y'all could keep East Tennessee and Appalachia in your thoughts (and prayers, if you do that sort of thing).

(ok im going to use emojis to represent these ppl bc it’s so hard to talk about them without having a name to use) there’s a girl 🦦, who’s rapidly becoming a friend, in hot prof’s class, and she’s alluded to also being kinda obsessed with him. she was SO excited when i told her that he’d probably invite us over. and then there’s my actual friend 💿 who gloats that hot prof gave him a chair he didn’t want anymore. the exact chair he’s in in my favorite pic of him. and I just wanted to tell y’all that I’m not the only one with this disease. we literally meet up after and before class to talk about him. something in the water

we have 24hrs to be fully packed up and on the road. our house isn't even halfway packed. my sister and brother in law don't seem to have any sense of urgency and are dragging their feet. they didn't even take time off work. I've been breaking my back packing around the clock until i can't even stand and my body gives out. we haven't even touched the kitchen. i don't know what the fuck were going to do.

“I Take it as a Compliment,” Allison Russell Says after Tennessee Republicans Block Resolution Honoring Her for Grammy Win
- Russell is black; QOP has no problem honoring Paramore, whose members are white
Allison Russell said it was “a compliment” after a Tennessee Republican blocked a resolution in the state House honoring Russell for her recent Grammy win, the Tennessean reports.
House Republican Caucus Chair Jeremy Faison (Q-Cosby), who is white, blocked the resolution honoring Russell, who is black. He had no problem with a similar resolution honoring Paramore, whose members are white and also won a Grammy.
“That the TN GOP blocked it, I take as a compliment,” Russell wrote on social media. “Their bigotry, sadly, is on relentless display. We have a chance this year to make a real change in TN.”
When Rep. Justin Jones (D-Nashville), who is black and co-sponsored the resolution, tried to criticize the move, House Speaker Cameron Sexton (Q-Crossville), who is white, cut off Jones’ mic, the newspaper said.
“My Republican colleagues blocked a resolution honoring … Allison Russell for her first Grammy win,” Jones wrote on social. “She has worked tirelessly to foster an inclusive Nashville through her music and continues to make black history here in Tennessee.”
