Entertainment Weekly, September 2014
“She works hard. It was clear. She came in and she knew more about [the show] than Adam and I. I really think the world of her and Pharrell. They are good people.”

Ringo Starr Receives Inaugural Joe Chambers Musicians Legacy Award from Musicians Hall of Fame
- “What a great day,” Starr said
Ringo Starr is the recipient of the inaugural Joe Chambers Musicians Legacy award.
Starr received the honor Sept. 24, while being inducted as the 170th member of the Musicians Hall of Fame.
“What a great day … I want to thank everybody who was there. Peace and love, Ringo,” Starr said in a statement.
The Chambers award is named for the Hall of Fame co-founder.
“It is an honor to induct the legendary Ringo Starr into the Musicians Hall of Fame this afternoon,” CEO Linda Chambers said in comments carried by the Tennessean.
“It would have meant the world to Joe to have been here today, but in spirit, and through the Joe Chambers Musicians Legacy award, we know he’s here with us. Ringo - you have contributed immeasurably through your music and philanthropy on a global level, and we couldn’t be more proud to welcome you into our Hall of Fame family.”

HEY! I finally heard from my loved ones in Tennessee and I am so grateful to say that they are well and were minimally impacted. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for their neighbors. I wish that I could say I'm not heartbroken by the fact that I'm reading all of these statements from politicians and others who are only mentioning North Carolina and forgetting about the people of Tennessee but that would be a lie. The people of Tennessee are good people, the people of Appalachia are good people. Our native wildlife are living creatures and their populations never fully recovered after the wildfires in 2016. Generations of history and memories and culture have been wiped away. Currently, the only fund that has been verified by the TN Government for disaster relief is from East Tennessee Foundation's Neighbors to Neighbors Fund. I'm sure in the coming days and weeks, there will be further information on funds and relief efforts from many Tennessee organizations including Dolly Parton and her estate and the Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley.
For right now, I just think it would be super neat if y'all could keep East Tennessee and Appalachia in your thoughts (and prayers, if you do that sort of thing).

(ok im going to use emojis to represent these ppl bc it’s so hard to talk about them without having a name to use) there’s a girl 🦦, who’s rapidly becoming a friend, in hot prof’s class, and she’s alluded to also being kinda obsessed with him. she was SO excited when i told her that he’d probably invite us over. and then there’s my actual friend 💿 who gloats that hot prof gave him a chair he didn’t want anymore. the exact chair he’s in in my favorite pic of him. and I just wanted to tell y’all that I’m not the only one with this disease. we literally meet up after and before class to talk about him. something in the water

we have 24hrs to be fully packed up and on the road. our house isn't even halfway packed. my sister and brother in law don't seem to have any sense of urgency and are dragging their feet. they didn't even take time off work. I've been breaking my back packing around the clock until i can't even stand and my body gives out. we haven't even touched the kitchen. i don't know what the fuck were going to do.

Quarter Notes: Blurbs & Briefs from Sound Bites
- In this edition: Yo La Tengo; Willie Nelson; the Rolling Stones; Chicago
YO LA THIS: Yo La Tengo’s Ira Kaplan and James McNew played the second set of the band’s March 13 gig in Tennessee dressed in drag, the Tennessean reports.
No comments were made from the stage and the band has said nothing about the move, which is seen as a silent protest against the state’s recent restrictions on drag shows. The law takes effect - seriously - April 1.
“Kaplan wore makeup, a red dress and a long black wig,” the newspaper said. “McNew had shawl and a sun hat. Drummer Georgia Hurley remained unchanged.”
OUTLAWS GONNA OUTLAW: Willie Nelson’s Outlaw Music Festival plans to return this year with Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, the Avett Brothers, John Fogerty, Nathaniel Rateliff, Gov't Mule, Marcus King, Margo Price and Molly Tuttle among the acts supporting Nelson - who’ll be 90 when the trek begins - who closes every night.
The 16-date tour runs June 23-Aug. 13; ticking and show-specific lineup info here.
CAN’T YOU HEAR ME SUING: Songwriter Sergio Garcia Fernandez, who performs as Angelslang, filed suit agains Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, claiming the Glimmer Twins nicked elements of his songs “So Sorry” and “Seed of God” for the Stones’ “Living in a Ghost Town.”
Billboard magazine was first to report on the court filing.
WALT PARAZAIDER TURNS 78: Chicago co-founder and former woodwind player Walt Parazaider turns 78 today.
