Not that I don’t love when Bruce’s kids outperform him and give him heart attacks, but I think it’s funnier when the kids think they are better fighters/spies/infiltrators/etc. then him but he’s just so proud so he lets them think that they are.

I think that Babs would be a really good hacker, the best in the family, but Tim, who thinks that he is the next best(and is still scarily good) has no idea that Bruce only let him think that he broke his record of hacking into secret organizations.

Dick is amazing at acrobatics, and centers his fighting style around it much more. He even won gold in the Olympics for gymnastics! Bruce doesn’t want to tell him that he trained under several gymnasts, contortionists, even ballerinas!!! and has the acrobatic fighting style mastered, so he (within reason) let’s his kid win on most occasions, he doesn’t need to fake loosing on trapeze though(I am still giving the kids SOME things they are better at…)

Cass knows that nobody can lie to her, she can spot everyone’s tells and knows most people better then they know themselves. Bruce is, however, extremely paranoid and also has a kryptonian he works with regularly. He lies so well that he can convince himself he’s telling the truth(which is literally the point in case of advanced lie detectors), and so what if he lets some of his tells be more obvious around his baby, he’s so proud of her for picking up such small things! And while Bruce is AMAZING at reading people, he can’t beat Cass, it is however much closer matched then the others think.

Let’s be honest, Bruce is banned from the kitchen and isn’t good at cooking… or so everyone thinks. While he’s not as good as Alfred or even Jason he could whip up something Gordon Ramsey would be proud of if he actually tried to.

Damian in the best fighter with swords, this is undisputed. Bruce just hopes none of his kids find his crate of custom katanas in the attic, if they do then he’ll say they are for Damian.

Tim is an amazing investigator, so good in fact, that Bruce has trusted him on his hardest cases. Everyone assumes this is because Tim is a better detective then Bruce, but he just loves seeing how proud his kid gets when he gets a breakthrough.

Batman doesn’t kill, Red hood does, everyone in their right minds knows that’s a lie. Before Robin came along, leaders of drug operations or terrorists would disappear into the night, never to be seen again. The only people who don’t seem to know this are the Bats children themselves. Sometimes you can still hear a cut off scream in the dark before the news announces a missing person that everyone just knew was doing something horrible, criminals are more wary on nights that the Bats brood are in. And people running trafficking rings pray that it’s the Hood when a knock sounds, the bat doesn’t give those people the mercy of death.

All of the bat kids know more languages then Bruce, and they keep learning more to throw him off, for a family of detectives they really should have thought about the fact that Bruce traveled the entire world, he knows ancient languages and the words that world in other galaxies use, if he could speak Martian then he would have learned it by now, he still does know that part that he’s able to learn.

Idk I just need more of Bruce being skilled at SO many things while his kids are like “oh yeah Bruce? He’s good but I could defeat him easily” and Bruce just so proud of his babies when they do ANYTHING.

Bonus:

Tim made a plan to neutralize Superman at some point, it wasn’t as good as Bruce’s but he replaced it so fast. When he later uses it to take down mind controlled or something Supes Red Robin is watching.

Nobody notices that Batman whispers something to Superman before he goes deathly pale and acts like the plan is working so well he immediately gets defeated. As for what Batman said to him? It was basically ‘Clark(they aren’t supposed to know identities here btw) my kid made this plan and I swear to every mortal and immortal force that if you don’t take the fall right now you will regret it for the rest of your life” and Batman was usually scary but this was like, God will cower before him terrifying and it scared evil Superman so much he went along with it.

Res Robin was smiling so brightly that later Clark honestly couldn’t be mad at the Bat.

Edit: I forgot to add this but unbeknownst to EVERYONE (including Alfred somehow) Bruce can and will stay awake longer then Tim and his drinks are somehow worse in terms of caffeination. The difference is that on the fourteenth day with no sleep everyone thinks it’s only been three even though he is Vividly hallucinating. The ability to hide his lack of sleep for the first week and a half leads them to believe he’s actually the worst at staying up since on what they think is his fourth day of no sleep (it’s his seventeenth) he’s talking to an apparently very vivid hallucination of Alfred the Cat in a suit and a Tiger named Tawny(he had met the tiger earlier that week) and having a civilized conversation with them

i have a very technical work complaint

okay so basically every modern library has a piece of software i am accustomed to calling an "ILS" (integrated library system), which is basically a big database that tracks all of our patron, item, and bibliographic records, with all of the various complex states these might be in, plus some front-end stuff so you can do things in the database conveniently. (the patron side of this, btw, is called an "OPAC," an online public-access catalog. yay, jargon!) so anyway we have this big database, right, with all of our records in it. one of the basic things that it's very helpful to do, if you work in a library, is run reports to pull lists of records from this database—all the patrons whose library cards are expiring, all the items at a given branch that have been marked missing, all the bibliographic records that don't have any items attached, all the items in a given section that haven't been checked out in a couple years, whatever. so at work we implemented this fun little tool in the OPAC (yay, jargon!) that shows you where a given item is physically located on a floor map of the library. to set up this tool, my boss had to do a bunch of configuring behind the scenes to tell the tool where a given item is, but there are a bunch of hard-to-catch items that don't render correctly because they have little errors in their records (for example, like fifteen years ago the librarian at my library would add paperbacks to the collection with a different material type than hardcover books; we stopped doing this, but there are still a few items with the old material type, and the new tool is confused by it & won't render their locations correctly). the thing i actually wanted to complain about is that this problem is incredibly easy to rectify in most ILSs: you would just run a report with simple parameters (items, filter for our branch, filter for material type) to find all of them, and then you would have a set of records that you need to make a predictable change to, so you would just batch update or whatever they call it. OUR ILS DOESN'T DO THAT! IT'S BEEN SET UP SO NO ONE IN A BRANCH HAS ACCESS TO RUN REPORTS AT ALL, MUCH LESS DO BASIC MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE RESULTING REPORT! we have to email someone in central cataloging with our list criteria, who will then email us back an xls in 1-3 business days, which has made me fucking nuts—this system is slow, stupid, and prevents you from sitting there & tweaking your terms to get exactly what you want. it's dumb as hell. also i did a phone interview with a different branch in our system today & they told me that they handle weeding by having staff manually pull a cart of books, then manually check those item records to manually write down their total checkouts and last checkout date, like, i don't know, people trapped in 1903???????? i'm going to explode. these people cannot be serious. the excuse given apparently is that they don't want everyone to run reports at once & slow down the servers, but you can just, like. tell people when it's okay to run lists. also, most lists are not that taxing. if the servers choke & die every time i run a shelflist then you need to buy some more servers, buddy, that shit is not on me. but HONESTLY? a library in 2025? that can't RUN REPORTS in-house??????

fortunately our ILS is old enough that it's being sunsetted soon so they will be forced to switch to a twenty-first century catalog service, so maybe they'll let the librarians run reports, like adults, oh my god i'm so peeved. i think my willingness to poke around in the database has made me seem like a computer-loving egghead but actually what i love is not wasting time for no reason????

Effect I've shown to have on people in this fandom from time to time that I am proud of is making them actually speak their opinions and put them in the TAGS! Like, you guys don't know how it feels, to see someone go from "no I am afraid to say a thing because I don't want to be harassed" to "fuck it we ball tonight *passionately disagrees with the takes of toxic popular people and tags the post with fandom and character* 😎"

Like... guys, this IS the way to go, okay? More of you should finally beat it in your head that bullies draw their power from people that are AFRAID of them! If nobody covered in fear before them, they'd be nothing but stupid clowns in their stupid echo-chambers that just block away from the world and eventually having no one left to torture eat their own! This is NOT the norm when people are scared to post their interpretations in the fandom for videogames that specifically demand interpretations, shamefully resort to lurking in some private Discord servers just to share their art and thoughts, stay away from discussing a character they like because too many toxic fans put their claws on them and so on! I don't understand why many people are okay with this kind of fandom experience? And so many of them are older than me or unlike me have enough reputation to make REAL difference in the fandom, why?? I don't remember who owns a blog for suggesting headcanons for Soulsborne games but iirc they allowed bullies to scare them into making a rule against suggesting headcanons about Gwyndolin's gender because "people are mean to each other so it's a nono now and Gwyndolin is only they/them now 🥺". Like.... congratulations, you've betrayed the very point of your blog, which is to share different headcanons, to do what? To cover in fear before jerks that didn't grasp the concept of "up to interpretation"? Why would you do that, instead of showing people who can't respect different interpretations that they are NOT welcomed?

I don't know, man.. it is normal for autists to care about fandom a bit too much, I suppose. I don't see it as something inherently inferior to The Reeeeeal Life uwu. And so, I just hate to see people just willingly lend the power to bullies? Of course they are going to continue to make the fandom unpleasant, if they see that they can own the place by just leaving disheartening comments, laughing at someone with their mindless sheep mutuals in a reblog or sending a couple of anon hates! But like, when I realized a few other people saw this is unfair and should not be encouraged, and started at least saying something too.. idk, it gives me hope. It is hard to explain but I think 20+ or even 30+ age category is more than enough to move past the dumb high school dynamic! Not in the passive "eh who cares about fandoms anyway, it is not worth it and I am too mature to care" way, but in the "nah I won't stand for Cool Kids and bullies and nor should others" way
