we know abby has seen some really terrible injuries during her time with the foxes/aftermath of spending time with the ravens so she saw jean and was somewhat prepared, but i can imagine the nurses/doctors/trainers for the trojans being absolutely appalled, driven to drink levels of disturbed by seeing jean’s medical records/x-rays/scars. like i can just imagine the coaches and team staff getting together to compare notes on jean and realizing how far into the deep end they were thrown (they’re all cursing kevin day and wymack, and jeremy a little)

saw a hc about jean moreau being hyper sexual especially post-ravens. thoughts? feelings?
thoughts AND feelings! Oh the joy of being given a chance for a hot second to discuss this. You came to the right place my love. ❤️
Trigger and age warning : rape, sex connected trauma, dissociation, psychological abuse, controlling relationships, discussion of sexual acts.
Okay so, being hyper sexual. You know who does that in the books? Andrew actually. I know some might look at me weirdly rn like, 'what the hell are you talking about, he doesn't let anyone touch him'. Yeah, that's true! But that doesnt take away from the knee jerk reaction. (I'm sorry I know this isn't exactly what you asked but I need to discuss andrew first, and that has a lot to do with jean, bear with me).
Andrew finds a partner that he can to some limit trust (leverage, deals, careful observation, "training" them to behave how he tells them) to follow his instructions, which gives him a sense of control. They can fuck, but it's him who's doing it. It's him who's touching, kissing ect. The other person, of course if they consent, get to partake but not create the experience. It's one of the very, very valid scenarios of hyper sexuality as a responce to rape. He is rewriting every poisoned nerve ending in his body. He doesn't actually get off from the sex. For his own release he needs privacy, as shown in the books. Andrew's problem can be, that due to his truly inhumane trauma he can fall into the mindset of defining his sense of self through sex. It's an action and he's a tool in this scenario. Then again, We circle back to control, which is also a key feature of his decisions and protectiveness. Taking total control of the situation which used to be utterly outside of it, with no way out of it. Rewriting it, giving the traumatic experience a positive ending, hell an ending - when, and as suddenly as he might want it to end, is the motivator here. I think what he finds satisfying in terms of sex, not control, is giving sexual consent to his partners and, which he finds just as important, them giving it to him. Because it wasn't given to him. It's a way of building trust.
The motivations sound pretty nice, even if heartbreaking, don't they? Seem uplifting? The problem is, even if in good faith, this process can be very harmful, trauma surviviors mention that (at least ones I discussed it with personally) it feels good, but in the long run it does what this type of coping mechanism always does to your brain (similiar reactions can be seen for different traumas), which is hurt it. It's a form of desensitisation that limits your brain's ability to percieve the situation. It's hard to rewrite and leads to hot and cold kind of reactions, so yeah, having a relationship with a capital R is, difficult. That's what I always understood as Nora saying they are never actually okay (andrew and neil). Or at least partly understood it as.
Okay, so this cleared a couple things up. Now JEAN. Jean and Andrew share some factors of their trauma. While not treated as such, Jean was technically fostered by the Moriyamas, and well, Andrew's experiences with being fostered are faaaaar from what it's supposed to be as well. The difference is in Andrew's situation everyone tried to pretend the horror is not happening, there must have been a lot of manipulation and coercion and just plain fucking gaslighting in these houses. Its hard to talk about but I can imagine some of these monsters wanted him to act like he is enjoying it, and thats just out if the emotional range of dealing with for anyone. Jean knew he's in a trap from day one. Moreover, when it comes to the rape's he was victim of it was ordered by Riko to be done by others. That's a different level of fucked up. What's even more important as distinction here is he stopped, when Jean stopped reacting and fighting it. Because what Riko wanted wasn't violation, that was the tool. He wanted to psychologically break him. When the fish stops flailing on the cat stops pushing it around.
And Riko was constant, his modus operandi was regular, and the psychological torture was the motivator behind most of his "conditioning" of Jean. This is a situation where the abuse has a cause for the victim. It sounds sick and I don't agree with it, but it's a game in their mind. In the books we can see that he learned how to limit the amount of attention Riko gave him and as we know he is not confrontational like Andrew with his problems. And yeah I don't mention Neil as confrontational here bcs he has conditioned himself to run from everything and say he's fine to everything so..., sometimes it erupts frk mit but that's not exactly the same, its a last resort.
Circling back, I think Jean is more likely to be sex repulsed. For him sex, which was a form of punishment, is a cause of anxiety. Sexual tension is easy to mix up with nervous tension because of a feeling of losing control of the situation. That's why if we do get romance in the new book, I am putting my money on it being very messy from his pov. The magical thing about trauma responces though, is that they're not black and white, and someone who is sex repulsed might also seek an ending to their anxieties through it. Yet, it's ts a bit of an opposite motivation to the one Andrew has. When Andrew thinks of himself as a tool, Jean is more likely to think of himself as an object. There's a difference. While Andrew wants to take control, Jean is more likely to use it as either a way to retraumatise himself - so his version of hypersexuality would include less control and more roughness and violence, actually trying to rile the partner up. It might stemm for him from low self worth or be a way of letting out his angers and frustrations. It's not that he is used to being hurt, it's that he doesn't expect anything different. I also think he is more likely to have problems with opening up in therapy. Where Andrew is active Jean is passive, and the opposite. The upside is he might actually be more likely to communicate emotionally than through rules and laws, it will take longer, but be a smoother transition, because more people understand it than Andrew's way of building relationships.
Hope this anwser satisfies you, I'm sorry if I got a bit carried away. 😅

Jean on his first day with the Trojans: Who's gonna be my partner??
And everybody is like so confused: Aren't you dating Renee Walker??
Jean doesn't understand what does that has to do with his question.

I said this in another post, but it bears repeating:
Neil is to crime what Andrew is to Exy. Supernaturally talented and unstoppable if he wanted, but due to his general lack of interest nerfs himself.
Everyone should be grateful Neil finds crime boring and uninteresting compared to Exy cause he would have been the Kevin Day of crime, surpassing his father and mother. Nora confirmed in the EC that if the Moriyamas had messed with Andrew, Neil would have carefully and competently dismantled their empire and watched all of them burn. He was practically lab created and stress tested his whole life to fight, outlive, and outsmart criminal masterminds.
My headcannon is Ichirou is secretly relieved that Nathaniel just wants to play stick ball.

random aftg headcanons
dan gets a video camara and starts filming the foxes. years later, she founds all the tapes and makes a compilation
matt gives the freshman a brooklyn 99 style introduction of everyone
kevin chews gum, like, a lot. gum 24/7. its either mint or watermelon flavoured
the foxes give wymack a "n1 coach" mug for father's day one year. he pretends he is annoyed but he uses it everyday
jean likes to draw
kevin starts getting grey hairs at like 28 (wymack's genes)
renee knows how to tatto and she is actually pretty good, but doesnt do them often.
+she gave allison a butterfly tattoo on her shoulder
later in life, aaron gets a lot of people asking him for autographs thinking he is andrew. he just says "sorry, wrong twin" except when it's a little kid asking, only then he pretends he is andrew, he even learnt his signature
cat goes full gay panic when laila calls her catalina or cata, laila knows it so she does it on purpose
even though kevin prefers and mostly plays left-handed, sometimes he will just switch hands mid-games. like, "you thought you could mark me? sorry pal" and changes hands. it drives his opponements insane. they get used to him playing right-handed, he just switches back to his left. every defense player and coach hates him for that.
king mirrors andrew and sir mirrors neil
andrew and king have staring contents. king sits in the kitchen counter and andrew has to cook but doesnt want to move her so they stare at each other for entire minutes in complete silence. (king loses and leaves on her own to the couch). this happens more often than one would think
the cats LOVE neil's lap, specially sir. neil cant sit without getting a cat on his lap almost inmediately

Wait so you’re telling me Seth was the fourth of seven siblings and had an older brother named Jeremy who was the second oldest child. And Jeremy has—3 siblings (why did Cat hesitate before saying the number??) and one of them is an older brother. Something happened at the fall banquet during his freshman year.
I know it’s a stretch—but what if Jeremy is Seth’s older brother? We know Seth died, which would reduce the seven children to six, and leave Jeremy with 5 siblings. So maybe something happened in Jeremy’s freshman year that resulted in the death of two of his siblings? That could certainly tear a family apart. And what if Jeremy’s family blames him for it? What if it actually was his fault? What if it was his fault in the sense that something he did contributed but in a way that it makes no sense to actually lay the blame on him?
If he is Seth’s brother, that indicates he raised his siblings from the age of 12. There bio dad disappeared at some point. Also why did their mom disappear so often, forcing him to take on that responsibility? And further, how did he get from Arizona and raising his siblings to living in Cali with a family of politicians? Did his mom get married? Did she leave so often bc she was having an affair w some guy? And then they got married and moved the family or something?
A step-dad situation could also explain his dislike for being referred to by his last name, esp is that step dad sucks somehow.
I have so many questions man. The desire to know Jeremy’s history is killing me slowly.
This is a theory that may or may not be baseless and I might not be making any sense here. But do you see my vision? Do you see it?
I’m going crazy.

when jean is first taking stock of his injuries he says he remembers the “sensation of ripping, peeling skin” regarding riko pulling his hair out and keeps wondering how long it will take to grow back and even cat noticed his hair is uneven and asking if he cut it himself. i really feel like he might avoid cutting his hair for a while. like he’s never had that freedom and now it’s not only the fact that he has the option to grow it out but also maybe there’s trauma that he associates with his hair now? like yes maybe this is just me wanting to see him with floppy french boy hair but also there’s a lot of belief that hair holds memories and i don’t think jean would be ready to let go of everything that’s happened to him.
just a thought.

No one asked, but im gonna throw up some of my Laila Dermott hcs bcs I want them to see the light of day, before TSC abolishes their possiblity.
Laila is:
- from the East Coast, some big town with the vibe of NJ or Detroit.
- jewish, bcs I said so
- orphaned at 10 in some accident or other, probably car crash but im not sure if her parents were in a car or pedestrians.
- had a much older sister, 16 years older or so, that her mom had really, really young - who ran away from home and OD'd when Laila was about 5.
- had a big, although eccentric, family, so she was taken in by an aunt and uncle after her parents death. They had 3 sons. The uncle was Laila's mother's brother, and his wife was italian.
- had massive anxiety bcs of trauma processing, so doctor said to find her an outlet.
- started doing martial arts and was really good, but while her anxiety got better in terms of physical symptoms, her anger issues started showing more and more in sparring
- so, she stepped back from MA and tried out for Exy instead. One of her cousins was already training, so they kept each other motivated through the almost-sibling rivalry.
- all her cousins and she also had private swimming lessons once a week growing up, so she's really good at swimming.
- she's the most minimalist elegance aesthetic jock to ever exist.
- introverted but very opinionated, the kind that people she's in class with think is a bitch just by the resting bitch face alone, even thought they never spoke to her.
- reads DCU comic books like they're Torah.
- she and Catalina call each other Cat and Bat (Laila means Night, so Batman really fits, fight me) as pet names jokingly because of that
- their mutual crush is so evident it's painful to watch
- majoring in sports management because she's nothing if not a control freak (affectionate) who has her whole career planned out 5 years ahead in case she doesn't make it as a pro athlete.
- still does martial and swimming recreationally as part of endurance training.
- allergic to soy and cocoa.
- surprisingly not a night owl in the slightest.

Just picture Jean visiting Riko's grave alone and telling him all the things he wanted to tell him in life and ending the whole speech telling him that he now knows he's more than a Raven, more than a Moreau, that he is Jean Yves and he deserves and will be happy.

Just want to remind everyone that according to the EC the first time Neil is reduced to full on barely consolable tears and sobs in front of Andrew will be when he gets the phone call saying that Coach Wymack dies.
That's how much Dadmack means to Neil.
When Bee has a health scare, Andrew rushes to her side and los3s his shit at her to take care of her health.
From the EC
DOES NEIL EVER CRY?
Q: Does Neil ever cry? Be it alone or in front of Andrew or possibly Wymack?
A: If you mean for a reason other than the torture Lola & Riko put him through, then yes:
He cries when they get the call: he’s gone, he’s gone, Coach is gone
It’s almost safer to say “ten times out of ten”. Comfort isn’t in Andrew’s vocabulary and as far as he’s considered it’s a waste of time and energy. He’s more likely to walk away or tell Neil to get over it or look right past whatever existential/psychological crisis Neil is having. Neil’s grumpiness after a loss are brushed aside unimportant, and his aggravation over uncooperative teammates is nothing to pity him for.
But once in a long while Neil will hit a ledge he has to be pulled back from, and that’s what Andrew does. Like in Baltimore, when Neil is trying to say Do you want me to go, and Andrew catches hold and tells him Stay. This is how Andrew comforts: by being a stabilizing force, an anchor to keep Neil at home, a place to rest his weight and his secrets. Honestly, that’s what Neil needs.
But if you would really like a moment of genuine “comfort”, Andrew-style, then it would be the day Neil gets the call that Wymack is dead. It is the first time Andrew sees Neil cry, and he does not know what to do with this heartbroken grief. So he sits with Neil instead, back-to-back, with a cigarette burning in his hand ((because he has lived with Neil’s cigarette-smoke obsession for far too many years)). He says nothing, but he is a weight and a presence to keep Neil upright.
Bee also has the dubious honor of being the only person Andrew ever yells at.
The year after the events of The Raven King she has what looks like a heart attack at Reddin. Doctors have to give her stints to open up the blockages in her arteries, and Andrew spends the day sitting silent and still at her bedside. This isn’t something he can fight off for her; this isn’t something he can protect her from. It’s a lesson in helplessness he wasn’t expecting and never wanted. When Bee wakes up from the procedure and Neil asks her how she’s doing she dopily says she is fine. Mistake.
“You are not fine and this is not fine and if you ever eat another fucking piece of chocolate again so long as you live I will fucking kill you.”
Needless to say he ransacks both her office and her home and confiscates every scrap of junk food he can get his hands on. He also enlists Abby to write out a food and exercise regimen for Bee. Andrew accompanies Bee to the gym now and then, and he lets her sign him up for a 5K fun run with her."

I know Jean’s life is already tragic enough, but I can’t stop thinking that he could have had/currently have physical symptoms from anxiety. I don’t know, I can imagine him taking a shower and some of his hair falling out, having muscle tensions/back pain, or dealing with chest tightness that lasts the whole day.
It’s honestly a lot, but considering he probably had prolonged levels of high anxiety when he was at the nest, it isn’t that far out of the question.

listen y’all, personally I have never liked Kevin/Andrew/Neil or Kevin/Jeremy/Jean 🙃🙃 I am neutral on Kevin/Aaron and Kevin/Thea, and honestly I am very intrigued with Kevin/Allison.
In saying all this, I really really vibe with aroace Kevin.
I feel like every time I bring this up though people are like, “oh you’re only saying that because you think he only cares about exy.”
No, I don’t think he only cares about exy.
I think he is one of the most passionate characters in the whole series. I think he cares deeply about everyone and everything to his own detriment.
I think the idea that he is uninterested in nonplatonic dynamics doesn’t undervalue his relationships. Neither does it change that the people in his life care deeply for him.
I think aroace Kevin is honestly kinda perfect.
