♡ Sakusa Kiyoomi
Tumblr media
—notes: established relationship (but i'm bad at making it obvious); should i still call this a drabble despite majority of my works being barely proofread?; nameless because... ehe...; smol brain ideas i cant flesh out be merciful on me
—rimi's letter: i should be doing the event entries but... @rinoomi's sakusa art had my brain thinking. to quote, "thoughts are being thonked"
Tumblr media
"(name), this isn't what any other person would simply call a 'glance'."
you always found sakusa simply alluring. he isn't the kind of beauty that makes heads turn when he steps inside the room; rather, he's the kind of beauty that takes little moments in order to fully see and appreciate his charm. he wouldn't stand out in a loud party, he'd catch your eye at the peaks of your mundane life.
today was one of those days.
he was resting his chin on his hand, his eyes glued to you directly. although there was a frown on his lips, they weren't of annoyance. sakusa was just waiting for whatever rambling you both will indulge in for the rest of the day. and of course, you delivered—talking about what happened the previous week.
you were focused, you swore you were. but the more you looked at him, the more you come to identify and adore the little things about him.
the color of his eyes remind you of a shining obsidian rock, and his naturally curly hair fits him especially well. the sun made for a natural glow on him, like he was some sort of artwork of the gods akin to those of greek myth. suddenly, you're having difficulty in speaking consistently. and perhaps at some point you trailed off, otherwise kiyoomi wouldn't call you out.
"hey, you can't just trail off right before you're going to tell me what atsumu said."
normally you'd tease him for being so invested in your stories and experiences. but you were far too gone, mind just reveling at the beauty of a man that is sakusa kiyoomi. growing a tiny bit concerned and afraid, he tapped your hand softly. you were still spacing out.
sakusa briefly looked around, as if checking to see if anyone would see him. when he saw no one around, he pokes your cheek once and quickly dives in to plant a small peck on said cheek. you're snapped from your trance.
"huh? omi?"
"if only i knew a kiss was what it took. don't space out like that."
you sheepishly grin, murmuring an apology. he rolls his eyes with a faux look of annoyance, "entertain me, what were you thinking, then?"
"dunno, how pretty you are?"
although he maintains the annoyed look, you can clearly see the pale red blush dusting his cheeks at your words.

Reposting this because I FINALLY have an Archiveofourown account! :D (also wanted to link this story for anyone who never got to read it. I also made some corrections and changes in this version).

“No no no no please rethink this ba!” Raya is currently following the chief of heart through the halls of the palace. The chief, benja, is busy planning on the upcoming summer festival, and doesn’t have time for Raya’s whining- again. He’s busy emailing the chiefs of other lands about things like food, and entertainment ideas.
“Dewdrop, what’s the big deal? Is it so hard to volunteer at the beach?” Benja complains as he turns around, with the glow of the phone screen shining on his face.
“Um- Yeah! Whenever I volunteer at the beach, Namaari and her fang posse are ALWAYS there, causing havoc and being loud, and they don’t give a damn!” Raya shouts. The staff of heart are looking over at this father-daughter quarrel, noticing Raya’s raise in tone.
“Dewdrop, I understand that Namaari has the tendency to be...rambunctious, but it’s for the community? What if you save someone from drowning! Think about that and not Namaari, eh?” Benja pats the side of Raya’s shoulder and walks over to Tao, the head of the heart land cook team to talk about dinner plans for the festival. Raya starts to walk after him but stops and pouts to her self.
“You good?” Sisu questions. She came from the kitchen with a bowl of spicy shrimp congee
“No- far from that. Ba’s making me volunteer at the beach.” Raya sulks in the chair behind her and rests her chin on her hand.
“Why do you sound sad? That’s a good thing! Beach’s are fun, and- beachy!” Sisu exclaims, taking a sip from her congee.
“There not super “beachy” when the person I despise most is there- Namaari.” Raya pouts and crosses her arms.
“Sure- “despise”. I think you should go though. And I’ll come too! I’ll be your wing-women,” Sisu walks away with a wink and whispers the last part, but that doesn’t stop Raya from over hearing this jeering remark from the dragon. Sisu knows that Namaari and Raya have a love hate relationship- and the flirty banter they show when there together proves just that.
~*~*~*~*
“We’re here,” Raya parks her Jeep and opens the car door. She’s wearing a scarlet read swim suit with the words, “life guard” on the front and, “Raya” Imprinted on the back, both in bold white letters. She’s also wearing her iconic bamboo hat.
Sisu jumps out of the trunk of the car with pool noodles and water guns.
“Time to terrorize as many kids as I can find- catch ya later Raya!” Sisu dashes to the area of the beach with the most children, prancing like a goblin. Raya puts her hand on her hip and laughs, afterwards applying sunscreen to her nose.
Raya scans the sun lit beach- no Namaari. Was this Raya’s lucky day? A day of...peace and quiet? She silently celebrated, but still looked around to make sure her hopes were true.
She suddenly feels a tall presence arrive behind her. Her bamboo hat nearly falls off as she shrieks with terror.
“Boo!” Namaari shakes Raya’s shoulders from behind in attempts of scaring her- it worked. Raya turned around in a defense position, only to realize it was her rival.
“Namaari,” Raya spat with a mean look, taking a good look at the tall, muscular women.
“What’s dripping dep la?” Namaari says nostalgically. She new that Raya hated it when Namaari called her Dep la.
“I told you to stop calling me that, undercut,” Raya crosses her arms and smirks. Namaari rolls her eyes at the remark.
“Wheres your little posse of fang people?” Raya asked with attitude. Namaari thought this was cute.
“Didn’t show- and I didn’t want them too. I wanted a day all to my self. To get a good beach work out in.” Namaari winked as she tossed the dumbell in her hand up in the air effortlessly and caught it.
Raya sucked her lips and tried not to stare at namaari’s biceps, which was very, very hard for her.
“Volunteering again?” Namaari teased with an eye brow quirk as she looked Raya up and down.
“Yes- is that a problem little miss muscles?” Raya responded, quite embarrassed by how she admitted to the fact that she was looking at Namaari’s biceps. This made Namaari chuckle deeply.
“Not at all, princess. Besides,” she leaned in closer, “I kinda like seeing you in your cute little bathing suit.” She looked Raya up and down once more, smirked, and turned to head towards the beach.
Raya stood their with her face red and her arms still crossed and completely still, her feet hot from the asphalt.
~*~*~*~*~
Sisu came to meet Raya at her life gaurd chair after a while.
“Good news- found lots of kids to scare. Bad news- I think their mothers called the cops so I might have to split later on,” Sisu chuckled.
“Yeah. Uh huh.” Raya responded, only half listening because she was busy watching Namaari do high knees and bicep curls and sit ups. Hot. Hot. Hot- Was all Raya could think about. But she would never actually say that, ew.
Sisu soon noticed what Raya was so occupied by, and teased, “hmm...interesting. Namaari is super fine, huh?” Sisu said as a test.
“Yes ma’am,” Raya was practically frothing at the mouth, but snapped out of it when she fully thought about what Sisu had asked. “I-I MEAN NO! Of course she’s not! I mean sh-she’s okay looking, but I’ve seen WAY better than Namaari. Like, WAY.” Raya sat back in her chair with her arms crossed and lips pursed, still staring at Namaari helplessly.
“Oh yeah? Name ‘em,” Sisu interrogated, trying on Raya’s bamboo hat hat hat was nestled in the sand.
“No problem! There’s- um...uh...you know that one...guy..” Raya trails off as she stared at Namaari doing push ups. She shakes her head out of the trance.
“YOU CANT EVEN NAME ONE BYE-“ Sisu couldn’t help but laugh. Raya frowned with crossed arms and slumped.
“You know, I’ve seems that “one guy” tons of times...he’s not that bad looking if I’m honest.” Namaari is suddenly leaning on the right side of Raya’s chair, still doing bicep curls with the arm not on the chair.
“YOU- h-how much did you here..?” Raya felt like telling her off, but that wouldn’t do anything. When Raya was in private, she could think of all kinds of ways to tell Namaari off. But she can never apply that stuff when she sees her face to face.
“Not much...only the part where YOU couldn’t name anyone more attractive than ME.” Namaari smiled up at Raya from where she was at the bottom of the tall chair.
“Um, NO. That’s not what I was asked. I was asked to name someone BETTER than you, not attractive,” Raya climbed down from her chair and leaned against it, arching her back with both hands on her hips, looking up at the fang princess.
“Pfft- not what I heard but, puh-taytoe puh-tatoe right?” Namaari jeered. “You’d be a really good liar if your blushing didn’t always give you away Princess,” Namaari had a hand on the side of the chair, trapping Raya against it. Namaari caressed Raya’s hot face and used her index finger to raise her chin and smiled, “it’s cute though”. Namaari said with a smirk. That damn smirk.
Screw it, Raya thought. She grabbed namaari’s tank top with both hands and crashed her lips against hers. Namaari hummed with approval, one hand on Raya’s waist and the other in her hair. Sisu was on the side, jumping and silently squealing with happiness.
They kept this up for another 30 seconds or so. Raya was the first to break away from the kiss.
“I knew your lips were soft.” Namaari said all smiley as she backed away to return to her work out area. “Thanks for giving me a taste!” She shouted over her shoulder.
Raya was standing still with her lips pursed and her arms stiff to her side.
“Oh m-my spirits...I just did that.” Raya whispered aloud.
“UH- YEAH YOU DID!” Sisu hollered as she high fives the hand Raya was using just then to wave at Namaari nervously with a dorkish smile and giggle.
“But quit making that face. You’re starting to remind me of Marinette from MLB,” Sisu rolled her eyes and laughed.
“YESH NAMAARI LIKES ME TOOOOO!” Raya pumped her fists like a kid and yells a little too loud, causing the beach occupants near by to turn around, some even laugh. Raya’s knees turned in nervously.
“Can we please leave before I embarrass my self anymore?” Raya whines.
“Sure, lets get outta here lover girl, I’ll cover you for chief Benja.” Sisu grabs her arm.

Ruffled Feathers

Grandsby, a quiet small village just outside of the woods, was visited by traders, merchants and travelers looking who seeked shelter. It had everything you needed except a library. But it was home.
You lived with your father who was often out for work , he traveled selling things , he called them ‘useful trinkets that everyone needs!!’ But in reality they were just tools he did not have use for anymore. Every last moon of the month he returned home just to leave again in the morning. You missed him when he left, sure you had people to talk to and you borrowed books to read but every book started to feel the same and every person started to ask you the same question over and over.
‘When are you getting married?’
Of course everyone was looking out for you, they wanted the best. But your father liked having you home and not off tending to some man. But as soon as he left on his horse in the morning the village seemed to break out in song explaining why you should settle down.
“Its him!!”
“Hes here!?!?”
“Where?!?”
“How could you miss him?!?”
“Theres no man in town as admired as him!!!!”
You quickly bypassed the excited villagers slipping into the nearest store with a sigh.
“ ah, y/n. Lovely to see you. Goodmorning.”
You smiled at the voice, it was comforting.
“Hello Aizawa, good morning.”
“Hiding again?” He asked as he dusted his shelves.
“Was it that obvious? Do you have any new books for me?” You asked walking over.
Aizawa was a kind man, he mainly sold bread and knick knacks . But sometimes he would get in a couple books hidden away in his shipments just for you. He pat your head and sluggishly went behind his desk past a curtain.
“I have, but im not sure if its to scary for you.” He teased coming back through the curtain with a red book.
“If i can deal with fire boy out there i think incan handle it. How much?”
He laughed and patted your head again. “Free, my best customer.”
Quickly you put the book in your basket and gave the man a kiss on the cheek. “Thank you, i can always count on you when Father is out. You are a great friend to him.”
“Oh thank you, now go go, and tell me what you think of that book. Its a true story, im told.”
His comment interested you , but everything Aizawa said had some kind of tale to it so eh.
*
The sun shined on your face once you got back outside , everything seemed quiet so maybe you could grab some freshly made muffins and go home. The little bakery was down the road a bit but the woman in charge was nice and enjoyed seeing you. She was a older woman with black hair and liked to be called Momo. She happily gave you some muffins and even gave you an extra one for your father when he returns.
Finally you could go home and read this book Aizawa was fawning over. On the way home you were reading it not paying attention to where you were going. And bumped right into him him.
“Y/n!!” He swiped the book from you
“Ugn..Dabi…may i have that back?”
“Why do you read such… flimsy things?!?” He held it upside down trying to read it.
You reached up trying to get it and he walked away still ‘reading’ . The villagers also saw their favorite man again.
“Dabi!!”
“Its him!!”
“You're everyone's favorite guy
Everyone's awed and inspired by you
And it's not very hard to see why!!!”
You rolled your eyes watching him stop to pose for the ladies .
“No ones as amazing as Dabi!!!”
“No one's slick as Dabi!!!”
“No one's quick as Dabi!!!”
He stepped onto a fruit stand to pose again , “No ones as loved as Dabi!!!!!” He said full of pride , he tossed your book and you ran catching it only for Dabi to wrap an arm around your waist pulling you to him and nuzzling your cheek.
“Y/n why do you like these things? You are so finicky.”
“Its something i enjoy. Dabi.” You wiggled free holding the book to your chest.
“What is it even about ?” He turned to pose for some ladies .
Glancing down you read the back. “A handsone man, cursed to live his life alone as a feathered monster in a cas-“
He took the book flipping the pages then looking at you. “Handsome?!? There's no pictures!!!”
You swiped it back placing it in your basket. “Im sure hes a lovely man. Unlike you.”
Dabi growled at the comment and hooked your waist again to steal a muffin from the basket.
“Hey!!?”
“Easy y/n. You might be married before you know it.” He took his leave .
“Hmph.” You scoffed at his words finally going home to read, looks like you were only having one muffin instead of two today.
Meanwhile, up in a tall tall castle a man was looking out the window out into the forest , his claws clicked and his wings ruffled in an angry way.
**
Father returned that night and you could not be happier to see him. Even Aizawa came by to say hello a d to see his friend for a minute. You told your father all about your days without him and the book Aixawa gave you. He loved that you liked to read, it kept you out of trouble. He did not like this Dabi person, he was not right for you..
Father stayed for a little like he always did and was off to the tavern with his friends into the late hours of the night. It was his usual routine, see you, the tavern then be off again at sunrise. Something felt wrong though, the wind was cold and you kept finding red feathers all over the village like the ones in your book.
Father left with his horse after saying goodbye to you. You stayed on the porch watching till he was no longer in sight. All you could do was go on with the day.
Around night time Fathers horse ran back into the village spooked and thrashing around. You ran over grabbing his reins and cooing slowly.
“Easy easy.. what happened to father?!?”
The horse neighed and seemed to be shaking.
“Father…?”
Dabi wandered over to you hooking your waist to him again. “Y/n, why so frantic ?”
“ father is .. i dont know ! He might be hurt!!! Dabi i dont know!!!”
“Sshh.. shhh…” he cupped your face bringing you too him. “Maybe hes.. ya know. But i could go find him, i am Dabi, after all. But i wont do it for free.”
“What? I have no money!!”
“No no.. i want to.. marry you.”
“Dabi thats not fair!!!” He let go to hold his arms out. “Lifes not fair.!! But that is my offer” he walked away swinging his hand.
**
You took off into the woods on your Fathers horse in the middle of the night . You had to find him yourself, if Dabi really did find him then…. no.. no.
Lightning struck over you spooking the horse lifting his front hooves knocking you into the snow running off.
“Hey!!!” You stood up clutching to your coat looking around.
Just endless snow and woods… and.. feathers..
You followed these bright red things to a castle pushing the gate open going in.
“Whos that?” A candle asked
“Not sure what do we do?” A teapot asked.
“We cant let..!!!” A clock began to say .
Heavy steps were heard coming down the stairs with very long wings dragging from behind. The objects backed away from this creature cowering.
When the door opened he stopped and saw you wander in closing it up behind you clutching your coat tight.
“Hello…?” You asked, going in further. “Please.. my father is lost in the woods.”
He tilted his head thinking back on the man who did the same thing you were doing. He stepped closer watching you stop and see him. You grabbed your coat and stared with big eyes.
He was.. the man from the book.. very tall, huge red wings.. blond curly hair , robes ., claws..
“You shouldn't be here…..”

Just A Friend
Previous
AO3
Another Sunday, another chapter. Hope it’s a good weekend for you all, despite these uncertain times. I always intended this story to be a bit of fluffy light relief from the real world. Thanks for all the support for it.
There will probably be another 3 chapters after this, depending on how the characters behave. I cant seem to make them do what I want sometimes!
Thanks to @wickedgoodbooks for the beta
Chapter 11: From Marriage to Mackenzie
It’s 1pm and I’m in a hotel room, still in a bathrobe, sipping Buck’s Fizz whilst a hairdresser wrestles with my wayward curls, finally managing to corral them into some sort of recognisable hair style.
Geillis is sitting on the edge of the bed incongruously dressed in tiara and bathrobe, her hair arranged in an elaborate updo. I catch her eye through the dressing table mirror and smile before my vision is obscured by a miasma of hairspray.
A few final tweaks of my curls and it’s done. I am just amazed that my hair can be cajoled into such glossy, bouncy curls, held behind one ear by an ornately decorated comb. With suitable compliments and thanks, Geillis and I bid goodbye to the hairdresser.
The bride stands up and adjusts the belt of her robe. She seems the epitome of calm.
“Are you not nervous, Geillis? You’ll be walking down the aisle in about an hour’s time.”
“Weel, I am a wee bit worried about a couple of things,” she admits. “I dinna ken how ma cousin Janie will behave. She may try tae proposition every man under the age of seventy five. And as fer Dougal’s Uncle Eric—he has been known tae get steamin’ drunk and puke in the rose beds. But about the marrying? Nah, I dinna have any nerves about that. I want tae spend ma life wi’ Dougal and that’s what today is all about. I have nae worries about making that commitment. He’s the one fer me. When ye ken, ye ken. Trust me, Claire.”
The pocket of her bathrobe begins to buzz. She quickly pulls out her phone and reads the message.
“I’d best go. That was Mam, fretting about something or other. Are ye ok getting dressed on yer own?”
“I’ve managed for the past twenty nine years or so. I dare say I can manage another day.” I sigh theatrically.
“I ken. Ye can manage on yer own. Ye always do. But thanks fer being here with me today. It means a lot tae have the people who mean the most tae me around,” she leans over and gives me a kiss on the cheek. “But remember what I said, Claire, when ye ken, ye ken. Dinna ignore it.”
Pausing at the interconnecting doorway, she does a quick body shimmy and grins. “Woo hoo! I’m getting married. Canna believe it’s here now,”
From the adjoining room, I can hear a shouted response. “Geillis Duncan, ye get here now. Yer mam reckons that makeup lassie has done her eyeliner wonky. It looks fine tae me. Can ye come and talk some sense in tae the daft cow?”
“Alright, Da, I’m coming.” Geillis yells back before leaving to deal with her parents.
I sit down and study my bridesmaid’s dress, now hanging on the wardrobe door. I’m getting excited about the day ahead. Probably not as much as Geillis, obviously, but a host of butterflies appears to have taken residence in the pit of my stomach.
I’m truly thrilled for Geillis to be marrying Dougal—they love each other so much. But, also, it’s scary to me. She is willing, eager even, to commit to one person, to base her future life, her future happiness on one man. If they should ever leave…well, I’m not sure I’d be able to cope with that. If you love too hard, you can hurt too much. Trust me on that, I know. People leave you. Don’t give your heart to anyone, keep it hidden away, protected…intact.
The ping from my phone diverts me from this somber train of thought.
I’m downstairs at the hotel. Can you come and say hello?
I quickly type:
Come up to the 2nd floor. I’ll meet you by the lift.
Making sure the keycard is in my pocket, I slip my feet into the hotel’s complimentary slippers and shuffle out to meet Jamie.
I’m already waiting as the lift door opens and he emerges. My first thought is oh wow, as is my second...and third. He has made an effort for this wedding, and it’s certainly paid off. Eschewing the more formal Prince Charlie style, he’s wearing a charcoal grey jacket and waistcoat, perfectly matching the grey in his kilt. A crisp white shirt and burgundy tie complement the secondary colours in the tartan. His sporran is black leather, heavily etched or embossed. I can’t quite make out the detail. Then I feel myself blush as I realise I have been clearly staring at his...er, lower body. I look up quickly.
Fortunately, he doesn’t seem to have noticed. He looks me up and down and smiles. “Nice outfit,” he comments drily. “Is the bride wearing white towelling too? What’s the theme? Salon chic?”And is that part of the design?” He points to an orange stain on the front of my robe. I pull a face and tie the belt tighter, trying to tuck the offending piece of material out of sight.
“Must have spilled a drop of my Buck’s Fizz.”
“Drinking already? Dinna be staggering down the aisle.”
He reaches out towards my hair and pauses for a second before making a random circular motion with his hand. “And this…I like yer hair. It’s verra…verra…” he searches for the word. “... asymmetric.”
“Thank you,” I hold the ‘skirt’ of my robe and bob a little curtsy. “That’s totally what we were going for—asymmetric.”
He laughs. “Nah, seriously. Yer hair and yer makeup look grand. I’m sure ye’ll look lovely in yer dress.”
I gesture to my room. “I’d best finish getting ready.”
“Aye, I’ll see ye downstairs.” He presses the button for the lift.
“By the way, you look grand too.” I try to say it in an understated way. It’s true, but I don’t want him to read anything into the statement.
The lift arrives and he steps inside. As the doors close, he fires a parting shot. “Especially the sporran, eh?”
*********
Now in my bridesmaid’s dress, I practice a couple of pirouettes in front of the mirror before hearing a quick knock on the door to the adjoining room.
“Ye ready, Claire? Mam’s jes’ gone down. Only us three left.”
I walk through to the other room to be met by a riot of open suitcases, bags and boxes. A variety of towels, dressing gowns and footwear seem to be carpeting the floor.
“‘S ok,” Geillis’ voice comes from behind me. “It’s no’ ma problem. I’m no’ sleeping here tonight. I’ll be in the bridal suite. This’ll be Mam and Dad’s room.”
I turn to see my best friend now fully dressed and ready. Her father is hovering next to her, clad in kilt and full formal regalia. I always knew she would win that battle.
As beautiful as she looks, the thing that really strikes me is the way her father is watching her, with such love and pride. She returns his gaze and brings her forehead to rest against his cheek.
I swallow hard, fighting the desire to shed a tear. It’s such a precious image, so intimate, but also, I realise that, since Lamb died, I have nobody, no father figure, to share something like this. I feel a momentary pang of, not jealousy, but a feeling of regret over an emotion that I will never get to experience.
And then, just like that, the moment passes.
It always does.
Geillis passes me a creamy white posy tied with a simple ribbon and gathers up her bouquet of peonies, roses and fragrant eucalyptus.
“OK,” she takes a deep breath and breaks into a huge grin. “I think I’m late enough tae get Dougal jes’ a wee bit nervous. Time tae roll.”
*******
The hotel’s orangery provides a perfect setting for the wedding ceremony. Softly diffused sunlight filters through the white muslin drapes at the large windows. A slight breeze wafts the fabric gently, giving tantalising glimpses of the formal gardens outside.
At the end of the room, Dougal and Angus stand beside a large arch of succulent green foliage, staring straight ahead as Geillis and her father begin the procession down the aisle with me following.
Even before he turns to look, I can spot Jamie — his auburn curls are head and shoulders above those around him. He stays still at first, but as we draw near he turns around and grins before doing his funny blink, screwing up his face and closing both eyes, which I have learnt, is Jamie’s attempt at a wink. I return his smile before focussing on the arch getting ever closer.
Dougal appears rooted to the spot, but Angus turns around and watches for a moment before giving me a perfectly executed wink. I smile politely even as I shudder inwardly. The sheer self confidence of that man is beyond belief. Then he disappears from my thoughts as Geillis reaches the arch and passes me her bouquet to hold. The joy on her and Dougal’s faces as they prepare to make their vows is wonderful and I’m so happy to be a part of it all.
***************
They say the sun shines on the righteous. Well, Geillis and Dougal must be exceptionally good, as it’s a perfect summer afternoon. It’s beautifully warm, but not too hot, as all the guests mingle in the gardens, admiring the beautiful surroundings whilst drinking chilled champagne.
The photographer has finished with the formal photographs, so I’m allowed to relax and enjoy a glass or two. I can still spot him wandering around, ready to take more natural, candid shots of the proceedings but nobody seems to mind.
I was initially worried about inviting Jamie to the wedding for a couple of reasons. The first was my friends. Of course, my friends are great, but Anna and Mary can sometimes have an issue with boundaries and I had visions of the ‘conversations’ they might try to have with Jamie — ‘nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition’ unless Anna and Mary are around.
The second reason was that Jamie would literally know only one person at this wedding —me. And that, when I was off doing official ‘wedding stuff’, he would be on his own, billy-no-mates. But, as I look around, I realise I had absolutely nothing to worry about on that score. He has the knack, it seems, to get on with everyone.
At the moment he’s talking to Geillis’s father, laughing and joking like they’re old friends. He notices me looking at him, lifts his empty glass up and points to me. I hold my glass up and nod. He excuses himself and strolls towards the bar.
There’s a slight touch on my elbow. “Hello, dear.”
I draw my attention to the old lady standing next to me—Geillis’ great aunt Frances. I’ve met her on a couple of occasions before and have always enjoyed her company. She’s a straight talker and makes no bones about it. “When ye get tae my age,” I remember her commenting to me “ye dinna have time tae beat about the bush, ye need tae say what ye think.” I like that in a person.
“Hello, how nice to see you.”
“Ye too, dear. I must say ye’re looking awfa bonnie in that dress. It’s a fine colour on ye.”
“Thank you. And you’re looking lovely yourself.”
Frances makes a self deprecating ‘hmph’ sound, dismissing my compliment with a wave of her hand. “Away wi’ ye. Ye do yer best wi’ what ye’ve still got. Which isna much in ma case.”
I shake my head. “Not at—“
But she decides to change the subject and moves on with her next question. “Is that yer young man over there?” She points at Jamie, heading towards us with two glasses of champagne. “He’s a handsome chap, is he no’? Mind ye, that’s no more than ye deserve. Sae, mebbe ye’ll be next?”
“No, we—“
I have no chance to say anything more, before Jamie is by my side and handing me one of the glasses. I take a sip as he notices that Frances has no drink and, without hesitation, he passes the second glass to her.
“Aren’t ye kind… er?” She accepts gratefully.
“Jamie.”
“Weel, Jamie, let me tell ye. It’s been a long while since a good looking young man has brought me a drink. I should make the most of it. Anyway, I was jes’ saying tae our Claire here, how bonnie she looks today. Does she no’?”
She fixes her gaze on Jamie, demanding an answer.
“Aye, she looks lovely.” His eyes meet mine for a second, before I look away and try to change the subject.
“Don’t you think Geillis looks beautiful, Frances?”
But, it seems that Frances has one line of conversation that she is keen to pursue. “Oh aye, she does. But, Jamie, I was jes’ saying tae Claire that mebbe she’ll be next. What d’ye think?”
Fortunately, I’m spared any response as a gong sounds and the maître d’ announces that dinner is served and that everyone should make their way inside to the dining room.
****************
Having narrowly avoided any embarrassment, I am somewhat apprehensive to see Frances at our table. Fortunately, Geillis’ cousin and baby are enough to divert her attention away from any matrimonial prospects that may or may not be on my horizon.
With Jamie sitting by my side, I catch him up on all the behind the scenes activity of my day and we fall into our pattern of easy conversation and gentle banter. From time to time, I can see Frances, opposite, watching us with a look of approval on her face, but she says nothing.
Once the speeches and toasts are over, there’s a palpable change in the guests. Jackets are draped over chair backs, sleeves rolled up and waistcoat buttons undone. I can spot more than one woman moving awkwardly in her chair, struggling to locate the shoes that were eased off out of sight under the table. Cheeks become flushed with an abundance of rich food and tongues become looser with a surfeit of fine wine.
I sip my whisky, savouring its peaty smokiness. Jamie is in a serious rugby related conversation with his neighbour. A rustle of fabric behind me announces the arrival of the bride, a look of frustration on her face.
She greets the table politely before whispering “Can I borrow ye, Claire?”
I make my excuses and follow her into a quieter room.
“What’s up, Geillis? Is everything alright?” I’m concerned that there’s something genuinely wrong.
“It’s his bloody family,” she hisses. “The Mackenzies, if ye give them an inch, they’ll take a fuckin’ mile.”
She takes a deep breath and continues. “Dougal invited his second cousin Gary and his wife tae our evening do. Jes’ the two of them mind. Sae they turn up an hour and a half early and try tae cadge dessert and brandies from the waiters.”
“Where are they now?”
“Och, they’re sitting outside wi’ a couple of spare bottles of wine.” She gestures angrily to the gardens visible through the window. “And they’ll be first in the queue fer the buffet this evening, nae doubt. And what's more, they took it upon themselves tae bring their three bairns too. Weel, I say bairns, but they’re all in their twenties so it’s no’ as if they dinna have a babysitter.”
She finally sits down and lets her shoulders relax.
I take her hand and try to look serious. If this is the worst thing that happens today, that’s not so bad. Although clearly, in Geillis’ eyes, this is a catastrophe. “It’s not going to spoil anything really is it? They didn’t gatecrash the meal or the speeches,” I speak in a soothing tone. “Are you ok now?”
She nods. “Happen ye’re right. I jes’ wanted tae get it off ma chest. And I kent what I was getting in tae wi’ his family. But tae drag Gregory, Alicia and Laoghaire uninvited wi’ them jes’ pisses me off.”
I stare at her. “Laoghaire? Laoghaire Mackenzie?”
“Aye, that’s right. Unusual name, is it no’? Ye dinna find many of them around—thank god.”

Jacket Day 2 Cojeel week
It was raining firecely as the wind was whipping across the sky and began to take place after both dragon slayers were hanging out at a pub just drinking while Cobra had fun time challenging people to toxic intensities of alcohol who thought they could out drink him. The suspecting victims failed. Then things became chaotic. Gajeel was rocking out to his electric guitar while drinking strong concoctions of liquor as Erik adopted ear plugs once the audience gotten more insane with mixtures of cheers and jeers and the onslaught of food or drinks being thrown at him. He wasnt a bad singer, alot better that some entertainment, but people had various taste in it. The poison dragon slayer only rolled his eye as he saw some of the fight and mentally blocked out all the noise pollution that were ripping through his ears. Even with ear plugs wasnt saving him from it as he just stormed over, collected his partner by grabbing him by the collar as Gajeel pulled at Erik's coat as if in protest.
The next day the Iron dragon lay sprawled out on his bed as the sun shine brightly in his face. Cursing to himself he looked at his green and black dragonic designed phone that had a panther sticker on the back of it in a drowsy manner. His head was fuzzy as he blinked several times to get back his senses, and then he wondered why he was so sore and noticed the jacket he was wearing was not his. "Fuck? What happened last night?"
He glanced at his phone noticing a few missed calls. Instead of answering he began to text his partner in crime.
📱
Text [Snake King] Aw shit these are not my clothes. I shouldnt have gotten wasted last night. I'm blaming you...
The poison dragon slayer was soundfully asleep as he heard the Poison theme tune in. For a moment he glared at the black designed snake phone as he ignored it a for a few minutes until the titanium theme came on and he quickly hit ignore knowing Gajeel was going to call him. So instead tapped in a reply.
Text [Hard Rocker] That's your own fucking fault...wait a fuck? You didnt just steal my clothes again? 😠
Text[Snake King] My bad. It's just your jacket and not your tight ass pants. They are very restricting and would only call attention to me
Text [Hard Rocker] Idiot. Which jacket? I have several a white one that flares out and a warmer coat that has a fur collar, including a black one that also has a flare. Hey...I like the straps and those were when I worked for the Oracion Seis, you probably eat the metal off them.
Text [Snake Master] No I wouldnt...I have my own belts. Eh your black one, but it fits me...I think I'll hang on to it.
Text[Hard Rocker] FUCK NO! IM NOT LETTING YOU WEAR IT SO YOU CAN TEAR IT UP WHEN YOU GET INTO A FIGHT WITH SOMEONE. ALL YOUR CLOTHES ARE IN TATTERS SO WHY SHOULD I TRUST YOU WITH MINE!!!!! 👿
Text[Snake Master] ALRIGHT....CALM THE FUCK DOWN! Its my shit, and I like to show off, but your jacket reminds me of you. I would never intentionally wreck it.... 😑
Text [Hard Rocker] I want it back the next time we meet up. You can wear it when we are hanging around together, but not in front of anyone else or im going to kill you.
Text [Snake King] can always get ya more clothes... that sounds like a threat and if your gonna play that way then dont expect anything in return from me.
Text [Hard Rocker] Fine be that way. It's not like you can find anyone better to control the sexual tension.
Text [Snake King] Fuck off Erik! Your my boyfriend and I have eyes for only you bastard.
Text [Hard Rocker] Sounds like I hit a nerve....Idiot I take it back.. I'm not going to fight with you about a stupid jacket. Just take a picture so I can see you in it.
Text [Snake King] okay.....now I remeber ya let me have it due to the rain so I wouldnt rust
Text [Hard Rocker] I vaguely know that we messed around. That is so stupid wouldnt be able to handle my poison, smart ass.
Text [Snake King] In the rain? No wonder I'm sore and I can handle you just fine.
Text [Hard Rocker] No, we made out in the rain, but I did teach you a lesson from taking me to a bar so that I could be around all the noisy idiots.
Text [Snake King] Be glad ya cant get drunk though I'm sure you be fun if ya were. I got you back for it didnt I?
Text [Hard Rocker] Dancing on the table like an idiot? I'll pass. Lots of people envy me and it's so amusing to see their expressions. Right now your pissing me off by wearing my jacket. Why couldnt it have been that cloak. You look so good in it.
Text [Snake King] I know that I'm hot that's why I let you see me in it -

Title: Leave Us Your Stardust Rating: G like all my other fics l m ao Characters: Natoru, babby Lune, Natori. Mentions of other characters. Words: 2730-ish Summary: The World can be quite an intimidating, tough place for a seven-year-old, particularly after the sun goes down for the first time. Written for the 2020 TCR Birthday Bash, in particular the ‘Ghosts’ prompt. Notes: This is chock full of headcanons regarding these three, particularly during Lune’s childhood, so uh. Hopefully someone else finds this interesting or amusing like I do orz I will admit I’m hesitant on Natoru’s portrayal here because I’m not sure how most people interpret her (or him, if you prefer the dub, aha). I haven’t gotten the chance to write her that often on my RP blog, so this kinda feels to me like jumping headfirst into a shallow pool
                                                          &&&
Natoru plays a lot of roles. She is at once first-line defense and confidante, exorcist and companion. She weaves wild stories and tall tales while battling and eradicating the monsters that manage to sneak out of their imaginary environments to threaten her little ward’s security. She takes care of spiders and hornets. Checks the closet for less rational pests. Peers under the bed each night to shoo out the monsters, too.
It’s because of this, she thinks to herself later once her wits finally arrive, that she ends up being very gently nudged awake by a visibly shaken charcoal-colored kitten in the middle of the night during an extended visit to a neighboring but distant kingdom (the queen’s original home, in fact, a detail that still brings Natoru no small amount of confusion).
“...Natoru..?” Lune sounds hopeful but timid.
“Ehhh.” It’s vaguely questioning, she rationalizes, if a little muffled. She hasn’t quite found the motivation to lift her face from her sleepy haze just yet.
“Can I… can I sleep in here?”
“Why do y’ wanna sleep in ‘ere..?”
Lune fidgets, plays with the edges of his sleeves. “...be… because there’s a ghost in my room.”
Oh. It takes at least a solid minute for that childish (albeit straightforward, she’ll give him that) reasoning to sink in, but once it does, Natoru realizes she’s not getting off the hook that easily. Finally resigning herself to being awake and active again, she hauls herself up from her face-down, torpid position and searches for Lune in the darkness, rubbing at her eyes sleepily.
“Should I go throw him out?”
It takes Lune some time to answer, and when he does, he stares down at his feet as he speaks. “...N-No. I’d rather just stay in here.”
“Eh? How come?”
“...b-because… um. What if… what if the ghosts here are stronger than the ones at home?”
“There are no ghosts stronger than me,” Natoru brags. What a more sweet-natured, maternal cat might have claimed only in the interest of reassuring Lune, she seems to wholly believe, and not for the first time it becomes obvious just why the kitten has taken such a shine to her.
“Really..? How do you know?”
Natoru doesn’t falter, patting her chest with one paw and planting the other on her hip.
"Because I'm the strongest," she answers matter-of-factly.
Lune, still standing at the edge of the bed she'd chosen (though now noticeably with a straighter posture than before), seems to spend some time thinking that over. Finally, hesitantly, he says, “But this isn’t home. What if the ghosts here are stronger than the ones you know? What if the dark makes them stronger?”
Natoru pauses thoughtfully, but ultimately shakes her head. “Nah. I’ve been all over, Lune. And I was born in the human world-- it gets dark there, too. Still no match for me~” She gives him a sunny smile, patently cute as it always is because of her soft, chubby face, but the undercurrent of chaos can not be denied.
What had been a gradual and noticeable decrease in his fear appears to reach a plateau; Lune is convinced, his tail and ears perking back up.
“I’m so grateful! You’re super cool, Natoru!”
“Yep,” Natoru agrees as she hops off her bed to join him on their trek back to his room.
                                                         &&&
Lune begins to trail behind her the closer to his guest room they approach, but she neglects to comment on it. Instead, she tosses the beaded curtain in the doorway aside like a particularly bothersome obstacle, and strolls inside. In stark contrast, Lune tiptoes in behind her, looking furtively from one corner of the room to the next as if he expects to be ambushed. (Well, perhaps he does.)
“Okay, Ghost, you had your fun!” Natoru starts as boldly as she can, paws on her hips. “How’s that one song go? You don’t have to go home, but you can’t stay here! It’s bedtime for Lune.” Then, a little quieter but just as determined, and in a smug tone that shows she absolutely relishes saying it, “And if you don’t listen, then I’m gonna kick you in the head.”
To Lune, she adds, “That’s another great song. Recommend it.”
“It’s about kicking monsters in the head..?”
“Yeah,” Natoru says with a cheerful, heedless shrug.
The two of them are met with a stifling silence afterwards, as Natoru expected, but still she waits for Lune to give his approval. Creeping out from behind her, he pads softly further into the room, one, two steps at a time, again scrutinizing the corners. In the end, he doesn’t turn directly to face her, most likely mindful of the darkened void beneath the bed behind him, but he does look back to her.
“...will you check the bed and closet too..?”
“Of course.”
                                                         &&&
It’s after he’s tucked back into his own bed that Lune asks, “It gets dark in the human world?”
“Every night.”
“How long does a night last?”
Natoru pauses there.
“...I don’t remember.” She does remember it feeling quite long sometimes, though. It doesn’t seem pertinent to tell Lune. “Time feels different in the human world.”
“How so?”
Again, she pauses, this time in thought more so than in uncharacteristic caution.
The truth is, she thinks, maybe it’s not that time feels different in the human world, but simply that she had once been different. A long time ago, before she came to the Cat Kingdom. Those memories are odd— they don’t fit like they should. She thinks sometimes it may be akin to trying to play one of Natori’s beloved records in a CD player.
“It’s different because you can tell time has passed just by looking around at the sky and the ground, but it doesn’t actually feel like time has passed. It’s disorienting.”
“The ground changes, too?”
“Yeah!” She chirps. “Sometimes it snows, or it rains. Then you get mud. That stuff’s tons of fun.”
“I’ve seen pictures of it,” Lune starts thoughtfully. “It looks messy.”
“Mm. Natori would have a fit if you discovered how fun it is, too.”
“Maybe I’ll get to play with it, too, then. Someday.”
“Probably! You’ll have your own adventures in the human world, eventually.”
“I hope so,” Lune starts. “It sounds like such a funny place.”
Whatever Natoru might have planned to say to that, no doubt to agree, to tell him of the other oddities abound in the human world, it’s lost in obscurity, as, of all cats, Natori seems to see fit to enter at that time, peeking in through the beaded doorway with a look of subdued disapproval. In some distant part of her brain, the part that’s always faintly amused at her coworker’s finicky quirks, Natoru briefly entertains the idea that perhaps he’d been supernaturally summoned by the talk of mud.
“What on earth are the two of you doing awake at this hour..?”
Natoru answers easily enough, tone blithe as ever. “Don’t look at me, Lune’s the one who dragged me out of bed ‘cause of a ghost.”
Judging from Lune’s offended expression in return, he’s not at all appreciative of his idol throwing him under the bus. Natori, also, regards her with a disapproving frown, paws settling at his hips. To herself, Natoru thinks his current countenance lines up pretty solidly with that of the quintessential, matronly governess.
“Natoru, don’t go blaming your foible on the child.”
“But he did wake me up because of a ghost,” Natoru protests.
It’s at this exchange that Lune’s indignation seems to fade, so that he appears relatively chastened, shamed. “...I’m sorry, Natori, I did wake her up for that.”
Natori seems to… deflate, almost, padding to Lune’s bedside with a sigh. “It’s nothing that warrants an apology, my prince. You’re in no trouble.” Then, while busily straightening the crocheted blanket atop the comforter, “...another ghost, then..?”
Lune’s embarrassed silence says it all, he supposes. So it appears then that Natori decides to move past it without comment in response. A phase, he tells himself, brought about by recent stressors, and one that will fade as they do.
“Well. It is quite late, and there’s an early morning ahead of us all. We should all be more rested, you know. This isn’t the night for tall tales.”
“Hey, speaking of, how come you’re awake, Natori?” Natoru starts shrewdly.
An inquiry the grey cat was clearly not prepared for, as his first response to it is to open his mouth to voice his answer… only to close it again with a light snap once he realizes either he has no suitable excuse or that that suitable excuse is tremendously weak in theory.
“...It’s not important,” he eventually settles on, formal, demure. Leaving precious little room for followup clarifications, though he must know by now that such a thing will not stop Natoru.
“Natori, have you ever been to the human world?” Lune asks.
“Yes, occasionally,” Natori replies, head canted just slightly in curiosity at where Lune’s evident investigation is going.
“Do you have a favorite thing about it?”
“A favorite thing? Well, let me think…”
After a moment, all too aware of Lune’s expectant gaze on him and doing his best to ignore Natoru’s amused, knowing stare (yes, Natoru, he realizes he’s being massively hypocritical right now), Natori seems to decide on, “I suppose I’d say it’s probably the scenery— er, the variety in it, in particular.”
Lune nods excitedly. “The variety! That intrigues me so much, Natori. I’ve seen the pictures of the  forests and mountains and the oceans— they’re all so huge, Natori, aren’t they? I can’t imagine how big the human world must be to have multiple oceans in it..!”
“I do imagine it must be hard for you,” Natori agrees indulgently with a laugh. Then, a touch diffidently, “...having seen but a fraction of it myself, I must admit it’s rather difficult for me, as well, at times.” His attention wanders to Natoru, who is still lounging propped up on her paws on the end of Lune’s bed like a proper house cat. She wears a thoughtful, somewhat faraway expression, and he wonders what it is she’s thinking of. But, unobtrusive and respectful as ever, Natori doesn’t pry. Instead, he asks, “Did you shoo out the ghost, then?”
Natoru snaps out of her apparent reverie, nodding a time or two and waving her paw in disregard. “Oh, yeah, he’s toast.” And to Lune, “I scared him off, didn’t I?”
“Yup! You said you’d kick him in the head if he came back.”
Ah, that earns her another long-suffering look from Natori, though he doesn’t voice his disapproval this time. Natoru just gives him another of her patented sunny smiles.
“...Well,” Natori starts readily. “If that’s the case, I think that’s enough ill-timed chatter to last us the night. Morning will arrive before you know it, and I’ll not oblige any requests to sleep in.” Spoken while gently tugging the comforter up over Lune’s shoulders, now that the crocheted blanket has been righted.
“Can I ask one last question, Natori?”
“Yes,” Natori answers primly, somewhat absently, if his concentration on Lune’s already straightened bedcovers is anything to go by.
“It’s about the human world again.” And there Lune hesitates, at least until Natori gives another acknowledging noise. “I keep reading about... how big the human world is, and you and Natoru say it is, too. And— and all the stuff that’s in it, things you can’t see here. Do you think… I mean, because it’s so… There’s so much in it, so do you think… someone could go there, but eventually run out of things to see?”
His voice has lowered to be so soft his two companions nearly miss his question in its entirety, and it along with his insistence on keeping his gaze glued to some indeterminate spot to his side tells them both this line of questioning is not just a child’s rambling, all-encompassing curiosity. Because of this, it seems the two of them struggle for an answer for some time— one that must be reassuring and optimistic, but also can not conclusively discuss the issue. It hasn’t been named yet; it has yet to be spoken aloud to Lune, and it is not the place of the royal advisor nor their vaguely-defined assistant to do so.
Paws lingering over the plush comforter where he’s folded it over Lune’s shoulders, Natori finally replies, timidly, “...Anything is possible.”
“Sure, there’s a lot to see. But nothing beats good old home,” is Natoru’s helpful addition. “A cat’s bound to get homesick at some point.”
Lune doesn’t respond for a few long minutes, but neither Natori nor Natoru move to prompt or hurry him, even when the silence begins to feel acutely oppressive, and Natoru almost wishes a real ghost would break the tension. Eventually, however, Lune gives a very small sigh, and his attention wanders from his earlier inconsequential spot to Natori’s face. It’s not quite his more usual bright and inquisitive demeanor, but it’s at least a step away from the nervous reserve he’d been exhibiting just moments before.
“...I hadn’t thought of that.”
“Yes. It’s certainly a fascinating place, but it’s no Cat Kingdom. The comforts of familiarity compel all of us to look homeward at least occasionally.”
Lune seems to think that over for a moment, glancing down to the hem of the blanket covering him once (Natoru thinks he must be imagining his own bed back at home, and his colorful bedroom, eternally bathed in sunlight). This time, when he looks to the two of them, it’s with a decidedly more self-assured air.
“Okay! So I’ll stay as familiar as I possibly can!”
Natoru laughs— she can’t help it. It’s such an endearingly straightforward conclusion to come to. Natori, however… she notices the way his expression tenses, the conflicted, nervous debate he must be waging on the inside. Lune has taken away the wrong message from all this, and it should be addressed and amended, but... it’s only getting later, and Natori had entered the conversation with a chiding lecture about the late hour. He looks tired, too, Natoru notes to herself, probably a crucial trigger for his indecisiveness.
“You got it, Lune,” she decides to chime in, pushing herself up onto her haunches now. “But I think it’s time to stick a fork in this one, because I’m ready to go back to dreamland.”
Lune’s eyes light up further. “Oh! Maybe I’ll dream of the human world.”
“Maybe!”
Natori seems to just accept this abrupt left turn in the conversation in his usual yielding way, but he does see fit to add, in a soft tone that comes perhaps dangerously close to pleading, “...Lune… it’s all well and good to desire to remain... recognizable, but…”
There he dithers for some time, at a loss for what he wants to say or how to say it, most likely, as he utters numerous false starts before finally appearing to give up. Instead, lips straightening to a thin line, he fixes the kitten with a sort of wistfully helpless smile, and gives a comically uncharacteristic shrug.
“...Well. It’s late, as we’ve all pointed out. Goodnight, my prince. Now that your room has been cleared of its phantoms, please don’t dawdle on your way back to the Land of Nod. The sun will rise before you know it.”
“I won’t, Natori.”
Natori inclines his head once in wordless approval as he turns to leave, gaze also lingering meaningfully on Natoru (one she again only returns a blithe smile to), before he leaves in much the same natural way he’d first arrived. Natoru takes the opportunity to hop off Lune’s bed and dust herself off, though even her own reasoning for doing so escapes her. Lune, meanwhile, appears somewhat thoughtful, if distantly uncertain.
“Is it really so close to morning? I’m sorry for waking you, a-and for keeping you up all this time.”
“Nah, don’t worry about it. I’ll let you in on a secret, actually—” Here she glances behind her to confirm that Natori has, indeed, left, before continuing in a hushed but shrewdly amused manner, “I know Natori said he wouldn’t let us sleep in, but just keep in mind that what your dad says goes, and he hasn’t seen a morning in years.”
And so it was that Natoru gained another point from the child prince to set in her ‘cool’ pile.

As I walked away from him, a part of me hoped to hear some kind of regret in his voice or anything at all, even. Instead, I heard nothing. He was silent. Maybe I had to do what everyone had been telling me to do all along: let him go. In my heart, I knew what would have been best for me. I knew that I would have been safer and filled with less grief if I let him go and went to Midgard to be with the Avengers and her. I knew that she would undoubtedly fill the void in my heart that Loki left there, as she had been the one to fill it ever since he fell. Still, I felt responsible for him as well as the Nine Realms. I saw the damage he had done to the world we knew as our second home. His suit was black (the absence of light), gold (what had once been my favorite color), and green (his favorite color-the color of my eyes). He attacked the part of Midgard we had last been to together. It was a night of laughter and happiness for both of us and a memory that was now clouded with pain and darkness. He still used the daggers I had given to him before he left for a battle with Thor-a battle Thor talked the Allfather into keeping me out of, as I was still recovering from the last one.
A piece of me wondered if he had a reason. Maybe he truly didn’t care for me anymore, maybe he lied to me all those years, but for what? What did he have to gain from an orphan girl? He was a God, and I was just another Asgardian. There was nothing extraordinary about me. If he wanted to manipulate someone for so long, why wouldn’t he choose someone with more power? I had to believe that it was more than that. I had to believe that there was something else that I just wasn’t seeing clearly. He was still in there. The man I knew was still holding on and fighting back this new version of himself. I didn’t know what happened or what made him turn on me so quickly, but I had a few theories of my own. Perhaps he found out about my secret from Odin that day, but I still didn’t even know how Odin would know in the first place. Maybe he fell out of love with me quicker than I had ever anticipated he could. I didn’t understand, but it wasn’t for me to try to figure out in the middle of the night when I was still sick from the ale that evening.
I made my way up to the training grounds, casting the illusion just long enough to make it past the guards. Once my eyes were dried, I dropped the illusion, finally visible again. I lifted a dulled sword from the rack and walked over to one of the training dummies before taking out every ounce of anger, frustration, and pain on it. I didn’t need to build my skills with the sword anymore. However, I knew to practice regularly to stay nimble. Tonight, however, was simply to hit the dummy as hard as possible to make my muscles sore. I just wanted to make myself tired enough that I could fall asleep for the rest of my life, and if I couldn’t achieve that, I at least wanted to be tired enough that when I laid down in bed, I could fall asleep immediately. I didn’t want to think of his harsh words or the way he glared at me like it was my fault he fell in the first place. I didn’t want to think of the mistakes I had made or the grief I felt over the loss of a man who meant so much to me.
Listening to the loud crack as my sword hit the dummy over and over again helped drown out the sorrow in my heart and the voices in my head that were even more cruel than Loki could ever even hope to be. As I growled, I thought of every moment in my life that I felt anger, every moment I felt alone, every moment I felt weak. I thought of the night he told me he hated me, the fall, when I saw him on Midgard, when I left her, when Tony Stark shed a tear for me, when she cried. There were so many moments, but they all came rushing back as the wall I had built up to keep them away finally broke down and crumbled into nothing. Suddenly, I heard a loud crack and opened my eyes to see that my last swing of the sword had been too successful, as the blade lay broken on the ground.
“For a woman as peaceful as yourself, you sure like breaking swords when you’re angry,” Thor’s voice rang out from behind me.
I whipped around, surprised by his presence. I hadn’t heard him coming, and I certainly didn’t feel him because of my clouded thoughts. As soon as I looked at him, my mind quieted once more. He was a peaceful soul with eyes as deep as the oceans. He leaned against one of the pillars with his arms crossed over his chest. His robes cascaded over his broad shoulders, and he wore a slight grin upon his lips. I shook my head, dropping the handle of the sword, which would be of no more use, “I apologize if I woke you,” I murmured, attempting to walk past him. I was in no mood for speaking as my frustration had not been washed away completely.
He caught my arm before I could pass him, and as my chest continued to heave, he spoke, “you did not wake me, Lady Eva. I figured that after you visited Loki, you would come here,” he said, hinting at the fact that he already knew what I had been up to that night. My mouth gaped open as I searched for any possible explanation other than the one he proposed. Before I could lie, he continued, “my brother has been playing tricks on me since we were children. Do you not think I can tell? Plus, I’ve known you since we were children, and I knew you would go down to see him at some point,” he shrugged.
“I had to. You can be mad, you can tell the Allfather, you can do whatever you need to do, and I won’t be upset. All I ask is that you continue fighting for him the way I have,” I said, straightening my shoulders, “I will accept whatever punishment my King sees fit.”
“Your King will never know,” Thor replied in a hushed but stern voice, “I will not be speaking a word of this to my father. You did what needed to be done, something he doesn’t believe is worth the time or energy. You’ve looked out for my brother since we were kids, and I would’ve been ignorant to believe that you would just stop because of what happened on Midgard. You still see the good in him, and I admire that because I still love him just as much as you do,” he added, “how was he?”
I stepped back over to him, and he released my arm from his grasp. I motioned around the training grounds, “well, I’m out here, so it didn’t go as well as I had anticipated. He’s still hurting, and it continues to break my heart every time I see him. I can feel his pain just as I could before, but it’s amplified.I just don’t know if I can keep doing this to myself, Thor. I don’t know if I can keep trying to save someone who doesn’t want to be saved. It would kill me to abandon him like this. His mind is chaos. He needs a moment of clarity, of peace, but...maybe I can’t give that to him,” I answered the best way I could.
“Who better to show him that moment of clarity than you?” he asked, gazing down at me with eyes that shined like the sun on my darkest day. While every other love I felt paled in comparison to that which I shared with Loki, Thor brought something else into my life, something more beautiful than life itself. He reminded me that life was not about power or status, it was about living. He had a love for all living things that matched my own, and I loved him all the more for it. Thor never pushed me away, “you have done so much for him, Eva. You may not think you’ve done enough, but you’ve done more than everyone else put together. You have sacrificed more than anyone else. All I know is that you need to take fate into your own hands sometimes. Maybe you find that you don’t want to wait for cooperation from Loki or the Allfather. All I know is that you have allowed others to control your destiny for too long, and it’s time for you to take your control back,” he added, “and if you need to talk or cry or scream, you know that I’m always here.”
My eyes filled up with tears, and I pushed them back, having cried more than enough over the situation. It felt like I couldn’t stop since the fall. It was that moment that I made the promise to myself: I would be weak no longer. I would weep over my situation no longer. I could mourn for the man Loki once was or give him no other option other than to accept my help. As my chest continued to heave due to the unchecked frustration, I grabbed the back of Thor’s neck and attacked his lips with my own. It was the only thing that felt right. It only lasted for a second before the shock forced him away from me, and he held me at a short distance. He cleared his throat, color filling his cheeks, “why did-what are you...we can’t do this when you’re still a bit drunk, Eva. I don’t know if this is you or the ale from earlier, but...you aren’t in the right state of mind for this right now,” he noted, chuckling to lighten the mood.
“Does that really matter anymore?” I asked, closing the space between us once more, and he allowed me, “I want this. Do you want this?” I asked, gazing up into his eyes.
He sighed, “you know I do, and you know I’ve wanted this for a long time. There’s a reason I haven’t done anything since we were young, though, Eva. You belong with Loki, and I don’t want to get in the way of that. I love both of you too much to ruin what you have,” he whispered, his arm snaking around my waist, telling a very different story than the one spilling from his lips.
“What do you think you would be ruining? The rubble of our love? Do you think you can shatter heart we shared anymore? Could you kill a flower that was already dead?” I asked, realizing that, while I loved Loki more than life itself, he loved me no longer, “I will love your brother until the day I die, but he has hurt me so much, I think I deserve a moment of happiness. I deserve to remember the sweetness of love, which is something I have forgotten the taste of for so long. Remind me...please,” I begged, grasping onto his robes in a desperate attempt to let him know that I would not hold anything against him.
He searched my eyes for any hesitation that could have been lingering there, but he found none. He found only loneliness and grief. Perhaps he felt sorry for me, or perhaps he was giving into urges that had lain dormant since our childhood. Either way, he kissed me. I threw my arms around his neck as he lifted me off the ground. I wrapped my legs around his waist, grunting lightly when he pressed me against the pillar he had been leaning on only moments ago. His lips were smoother than I had remembered them, and I could feel the areas he bit when he was nervous. As his left hand grasped my thigh, offering me an extra level of support aside from the pillar, his right hand steadied my face as he kissed me with more passion than I’d ever anticipated.
To my disapproval, his lips departed from mine, and he began to sprinkle kisses along my jaw and down to my neck, a place Loki always loved. As I squeezed my eyes shut, I forced the thought of him from my mind and focused on Thor. When he grazed his teeth against my neck, I arched my body into his, feeling a shiver run through me. As I arched into him, his arms wrapped around my body, squeezing me against him hard enough for me to feel every muscle and every crease even through the clothes. For the first time in such a long time, I felt small in someone’s arms. Aaldir, Hjalmar, and Loki always made me feel that way, like I never needed to worry when they were around. However, she had the opposite effect on me. I was the one to make her feel small, the one to protect her. Ever since her, I had not felt like the small one until now.
With one arm still draped over his shoulder, balancing myself, I grabbed his face with my other hand and turned his head so that he was looking into my eyes. I saw joy and desire and so much anticipation. I pressed my lips to his once more before pulling away and trailing kisses along his defined jaw and down to his neck. His hold on me tightened as I ran my lips along a sensitive spot. As I kissed him, he walked us down the hallway toward his chambers. He opened the doors with his back and shut them with his foot. When we were finally in the comfort of his room, he peeled me off of him and pushed me down onto the bed. I chewed on my bottom lip and laughed as his eyes scanned over my body.
Before I could react or speak, he joined me on the bed, nestling his body between my legs and proceeding to kiss me once more. As soon as I felt his warmth, Loki’s face flashed behind my closed eyes. I tried to blink away the tears in my eyes, but it was like he could feel my hesitance. He pulled away from the kisses and pushed himself off of me in an attempt to figure out where he had gone wrong. I shook my head, trying to collect myself, but I was failing miserably. The promise I made to myself such a short time ago was already being broken as I began to cry, “I’m sorry, Thor. I’m sorry,” I broke down, hiding my face in my hands. I felt so much guilt in that moment, so much anger at myself for being so stupid as to believe that I could just replace the love I received from Loki.
As soon as I began to cry, Thor crawled over to me and wrapped me up in his strong arms, “I know that you don’t want to hear this right now, but as your friend, I need to say it,” he stated as my body quivered and trembled in the arms of the man I wished I was meant to be with. If I was destined to be with Thor, my life would have been so much easier because he would have loved me from the very beginning until the very end. I wouldn’t have felt this pain. Maybe I was just cursed, though. Maybe it was my fault that Loki was hurt the way he was. Maybe I was at the center of his pain. Before my mind could continue down the darkened trail any further, Thor spoke, “I love you, Eva. I have loved you since before I can remember, and I’ve never stopped loving you. For a long time, I wished that you chose me instead of Loki. I wished that you would find happiness with me, but I always knew that you two were meant for each other. Even though it kills me to say it, you and I don’t belong together. You belong with Loki. You always have. And I can’t let my love for you ruin your relationship anymore than it already has,” he said, grief clear in his deep voice.
I shook my head, wiping my tears away as I found the strength to gaze up at him, “you didn’t ruin our relationship, Thor. You had nothing to do with this,” I murmured.
He sighed, “there’s something I need to tell you.”
*Thor’s POV*
I had been more surprised that she stayed after I told her the story of that day, more surprised than I was that she didn’t try to hit me. Instead, we shed tears together, and I sat with her until she fell asleep. After I told her what happened and apologized profusely, she lessened my guilt by being adamant about how it wasn’t my fault. Still, I could see the pain the truth brought her. She was heartbroken, and she went to sleep that way. A piece of me wished I had kept it from her, but it had been two years of her questioning why Loki turned his back on her, and I knew the truth.
Unable to sleep, I found myself with Heimdall in the Bifrost. Though even looking at the Bifrost brought Eva a sense of misery, she spent much time in the very spot I was standing, and I knew that it was because the her fear and sadness over that fateful day paled in comparison to love she had for the Midgardians and...her. She asked about them often, and Heimdall would always fill her in on the health and well-being of each of them. She was always the most concerned about Tony, the two of them having a special connection that I could not understand. Steve also held a special place in her heart, which I could understand much more. He was a soldier and always put the needs of everyone else above his own. He didn’t like to fight, but he did so that others could know peace. Eva did the same.
As I stood next to Heimdall, staring out at the stars, I felt his gaze shift over to me for a fraction of a second, “you told her,” he noted, clearly having cast his gaze upon us when he felt her distress. The two of them were connected the same way her and I were connected. It paled in comparison to Loki’s connection to her, but we could feel when something wasn’t quite right.
I nodded my head, “I didn’t know what else to do. I couldn’t keep it from her any longer. She deserved to know the truth,” I insisted, feeling guilty that I brought her to an even deeper level of grief but feeling hopeful that it would help her see the truth, that she had done nothing wrong, “she’s become far more destructive since Hjalmar’s death, and I sensed that she was spiraling. She’s lost so much. She blames herself for Hjalmar’s death, and she blames herself for Aaldir’s sorrow. She blames herself for Loki’s turn and believed it to have been her fault, like she could’ve stopped him from wreaking havoc on Midgard. She had every right to know the truth,” I added
“You are not wrong,” he stated, gazing back out at the stars, “she sacrificed so much for Loki, but I fear that she will now try even harder to free him, even if it means committing treason. She has no reason to show the Allfather anymore respect, for she now knows that he played a pivotal role in pushing your brother over the edge,” he added, and I gazed over at his solemn expression. He lowered his grief-stricken eyes, “I fear for her safety if she tries to disobey the orders of the King.”
“You have my word that I will do everything in my power to keep her from doing anything reckless, but she has never listened to me the way she listened to Hjalmar,” I said, thinking of one of my dearest friends, “how is he?” I asked, hoping for some words of comfort about Hjalmar’s new home in Valhalla.
Heimdall sighed, “I...cannot see him,” he confessed, hesitant to speak the words to me. I furrowed my eyebrows, confused as to how the gatekeeper and the guardian of the Nine Realms could lose track of someone. Before I could ask any questions, he turned his haunting gaze upon me, “I have searched for him, hoping to regale Eva with some stories of him when she came; however, I have not found him. I have searched every realm, every planet, every moon. I have searched the entirety of Valhalla, and I even looked for him in the Realm of the Dead. Still, I have found nothing,” he said, turning back to the stars, “I suggest keeping this between us for the time being. There is no need to put her through anymore pain right now,” he stated, strongly.
I nodded my head, “but what if she comes to you and asks about him?”
He frowned, the mere thought of it bringing a sour taste to his mouth, “then I will be forced to break the heart of a princess.”
*1 week later*
After another night spent watching over Eva and getting barely any sleep, I found myself standing beside my father, the man who was the cause of so much of her grief. She knew it now. She knew what he had done, and while I was surprised that she didn’t hate me for the role I had to play in Loki’s downfall, I was unsure of how generous she would be with my father. The two of us watched her as she practically danced around the training grounds with Sif and Ephinea. She hated fighting, but there was a side of her that came out when she fought that I had never seen before. She was skilled in battle the way no other man or woman could ever even hope to be. She blocked the attacks from each of the goddesses, and the two of them pulled no punches. Sif and Ephinea never went easy on Eva, so for Eva to hold her own against the Goddess of War and the Goddess of Strength, respectively, said so much about her skills.
As gracefully as she blocked what would have been a “finishing blow” from Ephinea, she began to take the offensive, swinging the dulled swords and moving like the ocean. I had gotten the chance to see her on the battlefield so many times throughout my life, and it always left me in awe. She had a plethora of her own weapons, many of which Aaldir had crafted for her or helped in the crafting process. He had given her two short swords that she used on occasion, and he also gave her the greatsword she used most of the time. Loki had gifted her a set of daggers, which were delicately crafted but stronger than anyone could anticipate due to their beauty. She danced around Sif and Ephinea, fighting both of them and successfully knocking them down and finishing them. After her success, she helped them back up onto their feet before starting again. I glanced over at my father, “she has grown far more skilled in the art of battle than even you could have anticipated,” I smiled, gesturing to her.
He nodded, a faint smile tugging at his lips underneath his beard, “if this is how you plan to sway my mind on the matters she has brought up time and again, it will not work,” he reminded me.
I shrugged my shoulders, “it wasn’t my intention, but it would’ve been nice,” I stated, gazing upon the girl who was so strong but so broken, “she has a point, you know...about Loki,” I murmured, wanting my words to be between us. I watched as his eyebrows raised in shock, which was understandable as I had always been fairly quiet on the matter, never explicitly taking anyone’s side, “I don’t believe you to be delusional, which is why I think you know-as well as she does-that Loki doesn’t belong in the dungeons. He is far more dangerous around people who think like him. His mind was corrupted far more after he fell. Even if we could get him back to the way he was before, when he was only trying to take over the throne, instead of killing hundreds of innocent people on Midgard, it would be better than leaving him down there,” I explained, hoping that he would listen to me with an open heart and open mind, unlike when he listened to Eva make the same case about Loki.
He gazed over at me, the icy blue eye as solemn as ever, “so, you are proposing the same thing? I release Loki into Eva’s care, knowing that he is a weakness for her? Knowing that she could never do what needed to be done if it came to it?” he asked, “I simply implore you to think through every scenario,” he added, sensing that he had offended me.
I narrowed my eyes at him, knowing that he was not completely sincere, “no, you are asking me to doubt her. You are asking me to trust her less, but you don’t know her the way I do. You didn’t see her on Midgard the way I saw her. You have no idea what she has done-the sacrifices she has made-for the good of the Nine Realms, for the good of Asgard. You don’t see what she has given up, but I have,” I growled under my breath, angry that he would try to plant the seed of doubt in my mind.
He shook his head, “I do not wish for you to doubt her, but I do wish for you to look at this from a place of objectivity. If you did, you would have the same doubts I do,” he replied, a voice as calm as the breeze that morning.
“I can look at this objectively, and that’s why I believe she could take on this task. While we cannot go back and rewrite the past, she can turn the tides in our favor. If she were somehow able to turn Loki back to our side, think of what our strength could be with an ally like him! We would be much stronger with him as our ally than with him as our enemy,” I exclaimed, gesturing out at her, “look at her, Father! Truly see her for what she is! She’s no goddess, but she possesses the same skills as one. I don’t think this is coincidence. I truly believe that she is meant to be much more than another Asgardian woman.”
“You have much to learn about her, my son,” he frowned, trying to force a smile and failing. I watched as the look in his eye became distant, like he was revisiting a memory that brought him pain. He tried to push it away, but it lingered there.
I shook my head, “I know all there is to know about her. I know her better than I know myself most of the time,” I chuckled, gazing out at the woman I was in love with. For a long time, I fancied Ephinea and Sif. The two women were stronger than anyone gave them credit for, but I couldn’t talk to them the same way I could talk to Eva. Eva was just...special. I knew every little thing about her, even though I was sure my brother knew far more, things I couldn’t even imagine. I glanced back up at my father, “there’s nothing I don’t know,” I assured him, thinking of the many secrets she had hidden from him, secrets he would never even know.
“There is so much you don’t know about her, so much that you need to know,” he said, a sad smile spreading across his lips as he gazed out at her once more before stepping away from the railing and turning to face down the hallway, “walk with me and learn,” he motioned, and I obeyed, falling in step with him and casting one final glance back at Eva. Once we were far enough away from the prying eyes and ears of everyone else, he began speaking, slowing his pace, “before you or I, before my father and his father before him, Asgard was created. Where once there had been nothing, we received a land of beauty, peace, and salvation. This was the place where the Asgardians could call home, a place that was more beautiful and rich with life than any other, and we took it all for granted,” he explained.
“The land began to dry up. Where there had once been lush forests and beautiful mountains in the distance, it was barren. The Asgardians who lived her long ago took from the world but never thought to give back. They built this city upon her natural beauty, hiding the plentiful gifts she bore to them. The creeks and streams began to dry up. People believed that it was the world’s way of grieving. She had always provided for them, always gave more of herself than they could possibly take, but they did not rejoice as their ancestors once did. They took the gift of life for granted, and they took this realm for granted. They did not thank the world for her blessings, and they did not live their lives the way we were meant to,” he continued.
“The drought of the world continued. Food was more difficult to come by, and we were running out of fresh water. We began sending people to various realms to acquire what we needed and bring it back here. We had already stripped our world of all she had to offer, and we were doing the same with as many others as possible. Life was dwindling, and we were unsure about the future of Asgard,” he said before letting out a long sigh. When I cast my eyes over to his face, I saw that he was reliving a memory that haunted him, and a sadness came over him that I hadn’t seen before, “I had an older brother growing up, a man I’ve never spoken about, a man no one speaks of anymore,” he confessed.
I furrowed my eyebrows, wondering how it could be that an entire piece of Asgard’s history was lost to me, “I forbid his name to be spoken, and there are not many who remember him, not the way I do,” he frowned, “Cul was older, stronger, and much more capable than I was. He believed himself to be the rightful King of Asgard, and when my father-your grandfather-died, Cul took the throne for himself. My father had groomed me to take his place after he died, but my brothers and I allowed Cul to rule because of his promise to keep us as his close advisors, a promise he broke shortly after his coronation. He picked from a group of his loyal followers to be his advisors. It wasn’t until he took the throne that we saw just how twisted he was, how his desire to rule festered into a madness we had never seen before.”
As we walked into the throne room, he stopped and stared up at the golden throne for a long moment, “he ordered that we strip the other planets of their resources, and if we were met with hesitation, we were to take the resources by force. He wanted to make it clear that no one would stand in his way. A part of me wants to believe that he had good intentions, that he wanted to show the Nine Realms that Asgard was still a powerful seat. However, the more he took from other planets, the faster ours was dying, so my brothers and I did what needed to be done. We stopped him,” he said, frowning at the memory. I could tell that it brought him so much pain even recalling it, so I couldn’t imagine the pain he went through when he lived it so long ago, “there was a bloodbath in this throne room. My younger brothers fell that day along with so many others, and it came down to just Cul and I. He had sent his followers away to spare their lives because he knew I wouldn’t kill him, that I would spare his life because of the ancient rules, rules he never followed but rules I couldn’t break,” he explained, glancing back over at me.
I furrowed my eyebrows, “but you broke them on that day?” I guessed, hoping it to be true.
He shook his head, a few strands of white hair falling out of place, “I couldn’t, and it wasn’t because of the ancient rules. I couldn’t kill him because he was my brother, he wasn’t the King of Asgard, not to me. I couldn’t kill him because I could still remember running around the palace with him and getting in trouble for fooling around for too long when I should have been studying battle techniques. Instead, I banished him to the Realm of Death, hoping that Death would be able to do to him what I could not bring myself to do. It was where he belonged. He delivered so many souls to Death that day alone that he deserved to face them all once more,” he said, glancing back over at the throne and narrowing his eyes, “but if I could go back with the knowledge I have now, I would have killed him when I had the chance because-”
Before he could explain his reasoning, a booming voice caused the entirety of Asgard to quake beneath our feet. It was the first time in my life I saw pure fear in my father’s eyes, “Odin!”
*Eva’s POV*
I stood in the courtyard that overlooked the Rainbow Bridge. Thor and Odin stood side-by-side in front of Sif, Ephinea, Fandral, Hogun, Volstagg, and I. Behind us were members of Odin’s kingsguard. While I had not wished to even wake up at all that week-let alone see the Allfather-I stood there out of the love I had for Asgard and my willingness to protect the people from any intruder, including the one that stood before us with his battleaxe strapped to his back. He stood the same height as Hjalmar once did, only slightly taller than the God of Thunder himself. The man before us all held himself like a King with his shoulder straightened and his head held high. He looked massive, like he was a force to be reckoned with. I had never met him, but he looked so oddly familiar to me, like a face I had seen only once before.
Dark brown hair that matched his short beard fell in waves nearly as long as mine, but he pulled the strands from his face and fastened them behind his head to see clearly. Even from our distance, I could see myself clearly in his piercing green eyes. Those eyes were filled with so much anger, so much hatred, but they were still so beautiful and pure...a green that matched the colors of spring. My breath hitched in my throat, and it felt like I was going to suffocate. I knew those eyes. I knew them from somewhere, and when he spoke, I began trembling with unchecked fear, “I am Ezra, son of Cul, and I have been sent here by my father, Cul, son of Bor, the rightful heir to the throne of Asgard. I have been instructed to deliver a message to the usurper, your false king,” he spat out, grimacing at Odin. I was shocked by his words, unsure whether or not they were truthful. I had never heard of Odin having any brothers aside from Vili and Ve, and neither of them had any children of their own. It was clear by the looks on the faces of my comrades that I was not the only one who was confused by his claims.
Even if he did, Odin was our King, and for an outsider to show up in Asgard and insult the throne, it was unacceptable. While I was angry at Odin for justifiable reasons, I did not hate him, and I would still fight to protect Asgard and her people. As I made a motion to step forward, Ephinea put out her hand to hold me back. When I tried to pass her still, she grabbed my arm, making her movements as small and unnoticeable as possible to keep from gaining the attention of the the outsider. She gave my wrist a gentle squeeze, trying to remind me without words that this wasn’t the right time. The small motions still pulled the attention of Ezra, and he glanced over at me in particular. His green eyes scanned over my body, and he smirked, “you’re just itching to kill me, aren’t you?” he asked before glancing back at Odin, “I see why you keep some of your best warriors chained up in the dungeons-like your son. It must be terrifying to have this one roaming around,” he said, gesturing to me.
A fury erupted in my chest as he mentioned Loki. I gritted my teeth, my chest continuing to rise and fall at an alarming rate. Still, I remained silent, not wishing to escalate the situation. Odin spoke up, “did you come here to discuss the population of Asgard’s dungeons, or do you have another motive?” he asked, cocking an eyebrow with a mischievous grin. He was pulling a page out of Loki’s book, smiling in the face of danger. It was one of the things that made me love Loki even more, and it made me see Odin as so much more than I had been willing to in the past. In that moment, he became so much more three-dimensional than ever before. While he had forsaken Loki in the past and made his own mistakes, there was a piece of him that still loved the young trickster. When I saw him find his confidence the way Loki did, it made me think of the impact Loki’s actions must’ve had on the Allfather. While I wished to speak with Odin about it, I knew that this was neither the time nor the place for such discussions.
Ezra cast one more glance over at me with a smirk that made me sick to my stomach, but he turned his attention back to Odin when I grimaced at him, “my father sent me with his demands. In his exile, he has been building allegiances with many people within the Nine Realms and beyond, and I can assure you that none of them are particularly fond of Asgard. They would be willing and able to tear Asgard apart at my father’s command, but he is willing to go about this peacefully,” Ezra stated in a menacing tone.
“And what does Cul want in return for his promise of peace?” Odin inquired.
Ezra chuckled, stepping forward, “he wants the throne back, the throne you stole from him,” he growled, pointing a finger at the Allfather, “he demands you hand over the throne of Asgard, and in return, you will be exiled to the Realm of Death just like you did to him. As I see it, you have two options: you can surrender and meet his demands, which will lead to a peaceful life for your people; or, you can resist, which will lead to our return and the subsequent bloodbath that will take place. Either way, we will take the throne of Asgard, but your decision could save thousands,” Ezra said, offering Odin the ultimatum as if he was in any position to do that. He came to Asgard with no supporters behind him and threatened a King with the entire Asgardian army at his disposal.
Odin smiled at the man in front of him, and I saw the condescending undertones, causing me to smile as well. While I harbored some ill will toward him upon recent news, I could not bring myself to hate him or declare that he was a poor king. He held himself with strength and dignity, which was something that would not work in the strangers favor, “you forget the third option,” he smirked, and Ezra cocked his head, clenching his fists, “it’s where I let your armies come, and I defeat Cul just like I did all those years ago. I had no problem doing it then, and I won’t fail now. You do not look for peace, but I pity you if you try to fight us. We know much about what must be sacrificed to maintain peace, and I do not wish for a war. However, I will do what needs to be done should your father attempt to wage a war against Asgard and her allies,” he explained, “so, you can tell my brother that his proposition was met with resistance.”
Ezra chuckled, stepping even closer to Odin. As soon as he was too close, the entire army behind us drew their weapons, but Odin raised a hand, wishing to entertain the boy for even longer. I listened to the warriors lower their weapons, but they did not put them back in the sheathe. I glanced down at Thor’s hands that were balled up in fists. Ezra leaned in close to Odin and spoke, “well, I came here for your surrender, and I’m not about to leave empty-handed,” he murmured before stepping away from the two of them and pointing at me. Once more, his eyes trailed along every piece of my body before locking eyes with me, “I’ll take that one,” he dictated, closing the space between the two of us.
Before he could stand directly in front of me, Ephinea stepped between the two of us, “try to take her, and I will rip you in half with my bare hands,” she threatened, rage clear in her voice. She had always been like an older sister to me, so it didn’t surprise me that she would react like that to someone who was threatening my safety.
Ezra glanced over at her but then back at me, “call off your dog, pet,” he instructed, cocking his head to the side with a smile filled with false admiration.
I scowled at the nickname he decided to give me, and I felt a chill run down my spine at the thought that I could be traded off to ensure peace, even if that peace would be short-lived. Odin’s stunned silence was not helping ease my troubled thoughts, but I had to act with strength and grace just as I always tried to, just as my father taught me all my life. I raised my hand and rested it upon Ephinea’s shoulder as I stepped out from behind her. She gazed over at me, horrified and flustered because of my actions. She had no idea what I was planning to do or why I was planning to do it, but I offered her a short glance that I hoped would set her mind at ease. When I stepped between her and Ezra, he didn’t break eye contact with me. He smirked, one of his eyes twitching ever so slightly as he narrowed them at me.
He searched my eyes-for what, I didn’t know-and when he didn’t find what he was looking for, he grabbed my chin and brought his face impossibly closer to mine, “tell me, what is it you want, pet? Do you wish for acceptance? Strength? Power? A real family? A place where you belong?” he asked, “I’m sorry to break your heart, but you won’t find any of that here, not with the current ruler. And, what about Loki? I’m sure you want him back, too, don’t you?” he asked, causing my breath to hitch in my throat. How did Ezra know about Loki? How did he know about my deepest desires? As I stared up at him with wide eyes, terrified that he was able to pick me apart so easily. He raised his eyebrows, sympathy crossing over his face, “you have so much to learn, beautiful, and if you cooperate, we’ll give you the answers you seek and the opportunity to live out the rest of your life with Loki,” he murmured before grabbing a fistful of my hair and pulling me even closer to him, “but should you fail, I will find your girl on Midgard and tear her apart in front of you just for fun!” he growled, my heart twisting and shattering into a million pieces before he pushed me down onto the ground.
“THAT’S ENOUGH!” Thor’s loud voice boomed, almost like thunder itself. I could barely think of anything aside from Ezra’s threat. I was paralyzed with fear at the very idea that enemies of Asgard knew about her, that they could use her against me. Thor spoke as I tried to collect myself, “you are sorely mistaken if you think we’ll just hand her over to you. Now, we have entertained this madness for long enough. If you try to take her, you will not live to see another sunrise,” Thor promised, glancing down at me and nodding his head. I knew that I would have nothing to fear with Thor by my side. Even if Odin, for some reason, wanted to send me away, Thor would betray his father just to keep me safe.
Ezra chuckled again, laughing in the face of the God of Thunder, “I haven’t seen a sunrise in nearly 300 years,” he confessed, and a piece of my heart broke for him. I couldn’t help but see small pieces of Loki in him, the anger, the pain, the hate. I had nothing to compare Ezra to, though. I knew the man Loki used to be, so I knew that pieces of him were still alive. Still, everyone could be saved, and that included the enemies of Asgard. Ezra continued, “no matter! I’m used to taking what I want by any means necessary, and I don’t lose,” he said before unsheathing his axe in one swift motion and swinging it down toward Thor.
In the split second it took Ezra to begin the attack, I jumped up to my feet and drew Hellbreaker, one of the many swords my father had helped forge for me. Right before his blade could graze my prince, I stepped in front of it, catching the handle of his battleaxe with the blade of my sword and stopping him from hurting Thor. His eyes widened in clear astonishment. I was sure someone like him didn’t anticipate anything extraordinary, especially not from the person he nicknamed “pet” only moments prior. I pushed him away from the Thor and I, “you don’t lose?” I asked, grinning up at the intruder, “well, neither do I!”

Red dragon
Smaug X reader
So how about a Smaug story I know my story's suck guys I'm sorry
Summary: The reader is a princess who gets kidnapped by the dragon when she finds out he is actually a human a very handsome one at that.
Who loves benedict Cumberbatch? Cause I do XD
I'm making up names in this so yeah XD Warnings: eh none

Everyone knew the tale of the red dragon in the jaggered mountains in the north. Its red scales it fire breath those golden eyes which stare into your soul. You where always told the story by your father which is why you never got out because the great dragon kidnapped beautiful women and your father thought you where the most beautiful of all. He never let you outside the castle walls not even in the township sometimes your mother would sometimes sneak you out into the garden though saying your father needed to let you breathe fresh air. You both picked flowers for your room you always chose the red ones reminding you of fire. It was morning as the birds awoke you, you sighed getting up going to breakfast. Your mother and father where already there reading some letters.
"We have been invited to a ball with the prince in the north" Your father said you froze your father said you were to marry the prince of the north Garath.
When the ball day came you where dressed in a blue gown with a small tiara.
You rode by carriage all the way to the northern castle. It was night when you arrived the party had just began your mother rushed you inside as you saw Garath his long brown hair flowing down his shoulders, he was wearing a green prince attire he smiled at you but it didn't reach his eyes.
He walked over to you walking stuck up.
"My lade may I have this dance?" He asked you nodded even though you didn't want to you were still nervous as people watched you but the prince soaked in all the attention winking at other women around. You rolled your eyes looking at your who was smiling. People soon began to join in but something hit the roof with a loud bang making everyone stop.
"What was that?" The king yelled everyone looked confused till they heard a mighty roar. Your body froze the dragon. The roof came crashing down as the fiery dragon showed itself. It roared again began to burn the building. Everyone screamed running away as did you out into the town. It followed though burning more buildings sending the people into a panic. Screaming was heard as were the roaring flames. You ran as fast as you could when something swopped down grabbing you. You clenched your eyes shut feeling big claws in your sides just piercing the skins. You heard the mighty flap of wings as you where lifted into the air everyone screaming below. Your heart hammered in your chest as the dragon took you away. He flew for ages till he slowed down dropping you into a pit it looked down at you as you looked up it growled flying away the gust sending you back to the ground.
You shook as you looked around gripping your wounded side you ripped off some material wrapping it around your waist hissing in pain. You sat in silence not hearing any dragon just the wind whistling. You hugged your knees when a voice came.
"Use this" You jumped looking at the man above you.
"Who are you?" You cried standing up he flinched he was standing funny you thought.
"Take this" He growled chucking a small container down. You frowned at the greenish brown substance inside.
"What is it?" You asked opening it you smelt it a flowery smell filling your nose.
"For your wounds" He said you couldn't see his face very well but his blue green eyes stood out in the night.
"Thank you" You said he growled and walked off you frowned who the hell was he?
You applied the medicine he provided on your wounds feeling instant relief. You sighed this dress was annoying you.
"Put this on" The same man said chucking you down some clothes you frowned they were men's though.
"These are men's?" You questioned.
"So put them on" he growled again you glared at him he was rude.
"Turn away" You said standing up grabbing the clothes he rolled his eyes disappearing. You stripped off your clothes putting on the other clothes on they where too big for you, you had to roll the sleeves up and the pant legs up.
"You done?" He asked you scoffed.
"Yes" You said crossing your arms.
"Who are you?" You asked as he re-appeared.
"No one" he said disappearing again. You sighed sitting back down against the cold rock. You where very tired but you where too scared too sleep but exhaustion took over you making you fall into sleep.
When you woke up there was food and water on a platter in front of you. You frowned looking to see if the man was there but he wasn't anywhere. You looked at the fruits and bread and your stomach growled. You began to ate wondering why he was feeding you.
That's how it went the next week or at least you think week it felt like ages he brought you breakfast, lunch and dinner and another pair of clothes. You sighed as the sun set and you where left in darkness once more you had been making a rope for your escape but the man had always came to check every time you went to escape. You didn't see him though tonight you threw your rope up but it didn't grip but you tried again having more luck. You began to climb your body protesting but you wouldn't give up. You finally made it to the top seeing hall way with red carpet you frowned this wasn't a cave? You walked out a bit seeing no one. You began to run one way finding a cliff you looked down over the railing that was put there seeing nothing but grass and rocks.
"HEY" The man called you gasped turning around seeing him behind you coming out a door. You ran back into the hallway heading the other direction but you were followed and knocked down as he captured you. He gripped your feet making you trip he growled up your body his hands pinning your wrists to the ground his eyes where a golden colour now his breath fanning your face as he huffed.
"What are you doing!?" He questioned you flinched at the tone of his deep voice you struggled against his grip but he was too strong.
"What do you think" You cried his grip tightening.
"You cant escape me" He said deadly and low he growled flinching like something was taking over him. His chest and veins began to glow a red and you frowned as he groaned his grip loosening. You took the chance to escape kicking him off he growled but the light got stronger as he cried out but it turned into a roar. You gasped seeing a dragon now in his place you scrambled to get up but the dragon stopped you standing in front of you.
"You cant escape here" He growled smoke coming out of his nose. You breathed heavily as you were backed up to a wall as the dragon stalked closer. You turned your head shutting your eyes closed as he blew smoke onto you.
"NEVER" He cried you flinched as the beast turned around flying down a hall disappearing with a roar. Your legs went weak as you fell to the ground now you need to get out of here. You ran around the castle but you found nothing. You gave up crying on the ground.
"I'm sorry" You heard his weak voice.
"SORRY!?" You cried. He flinched.
"I cant control the dragon" He said you frowned.
"He wanted to kill you but I put you in the pit so he couldn't harm you" He said you looked over at his shaking form.
"I never wanted this" His voice was so soft now. You felt something inside you break a little seeing this man so weak but you didn't know him.
"I cant take you back because you need to fly other wise you wont survive out there on your own" He said.
"I can show you the castle the garden" He said you frowned .
"You can walk where ever you like just don't leave he will no" He said.
"Thankyou" You said quietly.
"My name is Smaug" he said and walked away leaving you to wonder.
He did show you the castle a room for you to stay in though it needed work but you didn't mind. He showed you the garden filled with every plant you could imagine. You felt yourself getting closer to him.
It was night when you heard banging you frowned hearing cries of men and hope fluttered in your chest. You ran around following the voices when you found the source they where trying to knock down a door. You peaked through a crack seeing Garath and his army.
"FIND ME THAT DRAGON I WANT IT DEAD" He yelled you frowned he didn't save you he just wanted to kill the beast. The door broke down and you flinched running away a but you turned back seeing his fierce face.
"GET HER" He cried you gasped going to run when the dragon came standing in front of you. It roared looking back at you then turning back to them was he protecting you?
"KILL THE BEAST" Garath yelled his men charged but the dragon whipped them back with his tail but there was too many of them as they began to spear him the dragon cried in pain as the men grabbed you. They led you out the castle but the dragon wasn't done it killed all the men one by one still getting injured. Now it was only Garath as his men went to retreat.
"COME ON BEAST" He called the dragon roared loudly, you covered your ears standing under it. That scared Garath making him drop his weapon and run. You breathed heavily everything happened so fast you looked up at the dragon his body shaking slightly as he fell to the ground. You rushed over to his head he opened his eyes making a small noise rolling his head.
"No come on" You said placing your hand on his head you kneeled by him putting his head on your knees.
"Come on stay with me" You said tears falling out your eyes you didn't know why you where crying but something was different about the dragon to you this man inside him. The dragon groaned quietly as his body began to shine. He changed into a human form you gasped seeing his wounds over his body. You needed to get him to his room. You saw a horse left by the men you ran to get it helping him up. You rushed back to the castle taking him to his room you placed him on the bed grabbing some cloths you covered his wounds his eyes still shut.
"Please stay" You said quietly looking around for some medicine when you saw a container filled with that stuff he gave you before. You grabbed it rushing back over to him placing it on his deep wounds his muscles twitched you muttered sorry over and over.
When you where done all you had to do was wait you gripped his hand sitting on the other side of the bed. You stayed awake till midnight you forced your eyes to stay open but they betrayed you as you felt sleep overcome you.
When you woke up you heard a small noise of discomfort and shot up seeing his face scrunch up. You watched as he opened his eyes he looked up at you putting his hand to your cheek you didn't realise tears were falling from your eyes.
"Why are you crying?" He asked. You chuckled.
"I thought you were dead" You said he stroked your cheek with his thumb.
"I'm still here thanks to you" He said with a small smile. You smiled leaning down to hug him he happily let you wrapping his arms around you. You cried into his chest as he rubbed your back. He kissed your head as you lifted your head up.
"Y/N" He said.
"Yes?" You asked.
"Will you stay with me?" He asked you chuckled nodding he smiled. You kissed his lips gently making him surprised but he kissed back holding onto you tightly.

Conversation
S01E01 - Ken Sarukenka
[vaporwave lo-fi song]
Souji: Testing? Hello?
Ken: Yo? Sounds like it's working to me!
Souji: Ok. There we go.
[INTRO - glitchy transition music]
Souji: Hello, and welcome to the Souji Show. I'm Souji and this is a show where I talk about anything I want. 'Cause this is my show, and not yours.
Souji: This episode is sponsored by the peanut butter in Reese’s cups. They have the taste and the texture of a vitamin-enriched paste you squeeze from a tube directly into your mouth when you’ve been living in a bunker for 30 years because aliens invaded and it’s your birthday treat. Thank you Reese’s!
[MAIN - glitchy transition music]
Souji: For this very special, first-ever episode, we have a very special guest. You may know him as The Howler, or the other Ken, but to me, he's my monkey boy. Everyone, give it up for Ken Sarukenka!
Ken: Indeed, none other than the fantastical Ken Sarukenka.
Souji: Now Ken, tell everyone about yourself. Where are you from? What motivated you to go to Kyoranki? All that jazz.
Ken: I was born and raised in Kyoto and moved to Osaka around the start of middle school and been here ever since, my parents are Ippei and Meiko Sarukenka, better known as Great Ape and Statue, I am also a two time winner of middle school nationals in gymnastics, I was motivated to become a hero because all my life people around me have been heroes, my parents used to be, my brother is one and I choose this school because my brother graduated from here and it's reputation!
Souji: So, both your parents and brother are heroes. Was the decision to enrol at Kyoranki one you made on your own? Or was there added pressure from your family? How did they react when you got the acceptance letter?
Ken: Well, both my parents retired shortly I came into the world, I wouldn't say any of them pressured me but being overshadowed isn't very nice, yakno? I think it was mostly expected in a way, mostly because of my family really.
Souji: Speaking of being overshadowed, do you feel that you have the need to surpass your family in a way?
Ken: Yes, I feel that I have to surpass every single one of, my parents, my brothers I can't be remembered as the second or third best in my family, yakno? [dead serious tone]
Souji: O-ok. What was it like growing up with famous parents? Did people recognise you at all?
Ken: Well, growing up with famous people isn't anything special to me I get recognised every now and then, I met a bunch of other celebrities, I met a bunch of old guard heroes and a few newer once through my brother but it's not anything extreme I'd say. I'm more likely to get recognised now probably after I ended up on the news!
Souji: Speaking of being in the news, the Osaka Rising Star featured your fight at the provisional licence exams. Now I've heard from a little birdie that you didn't have the best time at the exams. Can you tell the listeners more about that? And what are your plans going forward?
Ken: Well... uh what can I say, I'll do the remedial courses and show the speaker that he was wrong to fail me right from the get go so he can go to sleep every night thinking that he almost stopped this world seeing the shining star of tomorrow! As for plans, train, complete remedial course and push forward the keys to everything in life.
Souji: Care to share on how you're planning to do that? What sets your apart from the rest of the Sarukenka heroes?
Ken: It's hard to say, are a bit different but if anything I'd say what sets me apart is the fact that I am none other than I and that I won't stop before I stand out even among them!
Souji: That's a very Ken answer. I respect that. [chuckle]
Ken: There is no other answers than the Ken answer, Souji. [little laugh]
Souji: Speaking of a shining star, let's shine the spotlight back towards the main focus of his podcast - me! Now, Ken, it's your turn to ask me questions. C'mon, don't be shy, ask anything you'd like.
[ASK SOUJI - glitchy transition music]
Ken: Well, I guess I'll throw the ball right back at you, why do you want to be a hero? Is it only because of Starlight or is there something more and how do you intend to stand out in this world filled with people like yours truly!
Souji: To catch the listeners up, I'm a big fan of Starlight. I guess I never considered a career in being a hero until I saw that special documentary episode of Speak with Starlight, what captivated me was his fans, there were a lot of them, each and everyone admired him and his heroic deeds and seeing the praise and attention that his fans are giving him, it sure was tempting. [laugh]
Ken: Inspiration is good, it helps you realise things doesn't it? Not everyone grows up in a family like mine where you are exposed to things the same way I was and I can surely see how it was tempting, I have been tempted by the shining lights that I have been surrounded with myself.
Souji: Inspiration can come from unexpected places, it's true that little things inspire us.
Ken: Indeed, I once felt inspired by watching a squirrel climb a tree! They always look like they are so free and have so much fun, so why shouldn't I do the same?
Souji: I'm great at climbing trees, we should really climb some one day.
Ken: I'd be down!
Souji: In all honesty, it was the fame and money that made me want to become a hero. It's a bit narcissistic, I know, but it is what it is. But during my time here, I saw what happened to the people around us. I want to be a helping hand in making a difference in people’s lives. Plain and simple. My family's poor so the money's still my number one motivator but it makes me happy knowing that I'll make the city a little bit better for everyone living in it.
Ken: I ain't gonna fault anyone's reasoning, being a hero is a profession after all just like being a policeman, fireman, doctor and so on, the only difference is the spotlight and the persona. Hopefully, you can throw your family a bone once you hit it off, eh?
Souji: Of course, I want to give back as much as I can. They might not be around as much, but I know they still want the best of me. Also, I want to travel. I've been stuck in Osaka for most of my life, and I love the city, don't get me wrong, but I just want to see what's out there.
Ken: Travelling is nice, but home is where the heart is wouldn't you agree?
Souji: Yeah, I wouldn't trade Osaka for anything. [pensive pause] Well, that got sentimental. Let's move on to our audience questions! These were submitted by our classmates in our group chat. Ready? Ok.
[Qs from the GC - glitchy transition music]
Souji: Fumi wants to know do you like bananas?
Ken: I like bananas in things but not really a huge fan if they are on, it's alright.
Souji: Kotoe wants to know your favourite genre of music.
Ken: My favourite genre of music is pop or rap, if it has a nice beat or a dramatic feeling I am usually down.
Souji: Kichiro asks, can you talk to monkeys?
Ken: No, I cant talk to monkeys believe it or not.
Souji: Taka inquires, does Ken-san take inspiration from Sun Wukong? That's some Chinese stuff, right?
Ken: Yeah my costume is mostly inspired by him, so his name hero name which means that one day soon I will be the Great Sage who rivals the Heavens!
Souji: Great Sage who Rivals the Heavens. [chuckles] Wow, that's quite the mouthful. We might have to workshop that Ken.
Ken: Yeah... A bit too long probably. [snicker]
Souji: I don't have any suggestions on the top of my head, but please don't pick a weird hero name like Monkey Boy, or worse - Monkey King! Plus, to be a sage, wouldn't you actually have to be, you know, wise?
Ken: In what world is that worse? I think you're going crazy over here and who says you need to be wise to be a sage? Not that it matters I am clearly the wisest person here!
Souji: Ken, that's literary its meaning, sage means wise. Well, it does sound very flashy, but maybe a bit too arrogant maybe? I mean, you can't even talk to monkeys, how can you call yourself the monkey king. You can still be Monkey Ken, though.
Ken: What do you think would be better then? I think Monkey King is a perfect fit if you ask me!
Souji: How about trying some alliteration?
Ken: Pfft, alliterations are overrated anyway.
Souji: I'm not sure if it's final but I was thinking my hero name to be the Neon Ninja. See, it's short, simple and easy to remember.
Ken: Neon Ninja? Sound like a flopped comic or video game, ain't ever gonna pack the punch you'd need it to!
Souji: Of course it sounds lame, that’s the point. You have to start from the ground up. Once people know your deeds as a hero, that’s where it becomes cool. Do you think Starlight’s name was cool when he just started out? No, man. Who name’s themselves Starlight? But, it became cool. I’ll make the Neon Ninja cool.
Ken: Starlight packs more punch than Neon Ninja though! His is like cool and mysterious, yours just sound like a old school retro game people forgot about, why'd you ever wan to sound lame?! Whatever you say, if you prove me wrong I'll eat my words but if you can't I'll be there laughing!
Souji: How about this. Why would anyone want to name a technology company Apple? It's not cool, or futuristic, it's lame. But with time, people liked their product and the name got cooler. See? It might seem lame now, but just give it some time. Like grapes and wine.
Ken: I don't know, maybe something about the apple of knowledge and all that jazz? Didn't really play attention in religion class, so I ain't too sure but either way I think something more high impact is better!
Souji: Let's just agree to disagree, monkey boy. Finally, Haruto wants to know if do you know da wae?
Ken: I know my way, perhaps its the right way for others as well just follow along for the ride and see!
[ENDING - glitchy transition music]
Souji: Well, we're nearing the end of our the show, Ken, is there anything you'd like to remind our audience, maybe plug whenever they can find you online?
Ken: Hmm, well I do guess I could plug some things I am on [X-Social Media platforms] with [X-User names] feel free to follow me!
Souji: You've been pretty cool to talk to, so before you leave, I have a special surprise just for you. I've embroidered it myself, and the shirt is from a downtown thrift store.
Ken: Ooooh. You really didn't need to do that, but I love it, it's adorable!
Souji: Thank you for being my first guest, Ken. It means a lot.
Ken: I don't know what else you'd expect, it's always cool talking to me isn't it?
Souji: To keep with the show follow me @thesoujishow, and to support my small clothing business, follow @glitchgear on all social media platforms. Once again, this has been Ken Sarukenka and Souji Yoshihiro, and you’ve been listening to the Souji Show! A show where I talk about anything I want. 'Cause this is my show, and not yours. Until next time. Insert catchphrase here.

GLADER’S HOUSE P1
MOVIE: MAZE RUNNER 1990′s AU COUPLE: NEWT X READER + WINSTON X FRYPAN + THOMAS X MINHO X TERESA + ALBY X GALLY RATING: VERY SMUTTY
Tumblr media
Y/N POV:
I sat happily racing through the old broken up streets the summer sun shining through the leaves of the tree’s high above my head the little summer breeze going through my hair with the familiar smell of fresh cut grass and ice cream not ice sea side ice cream the little cheap ice cream van around a London Parkway nice, I held onto a familiar torso the perfect mix of strong but still lanky body I had learnt to love over so long hugging onto him tightly keeping my fingers in the tight threads of his hoddie my head snuggled into his neck my nose filling with the familiar scent of dirt, cheap beer and Lynx his soft hair lightly touching my face in places looking up to the blue sky and the sun occasionally getting breaks through the thick leaves above us I looked back behind us to see the held together car, where Alby sat in the driving seat concentrating on driving with Gally, sat in the passenger seat his orange jacket over the chair he sat on he was yelling for no real reason I imagine messing with the stereo of the car until suddenly a nice happy music came blaring from the car out of the open windows making me laugh I saw Winston and Fry sat in the back nibbling away at snacks in the back of the car, at that moment I saw Another bike come around the car Where I saw Minho sat shirtless In only a pair of little shorts as he drove with teresa sat behind him in her little dress glitter all over her face giggling away and yelling happily around Just to the other side of the car was another bike where Thomas sat in his normal shirt and jeans Teresa Yelled to me putting the rock and roll sign up on her fingers so I did it back before turning back to face the way we where going and nuzzling my head closer into his neck and pressing a tiny kiss there
“Honey, I’m driving” Newt laughed “Come On we won't be long now” He tells me speeding up as did everyone else as we rushed down the little streets...
When we at last stopped In front of a huge house with a very old castle look to it
“This is the place?” Minho asked
“Looks way to fancy for us” Winston added
“Relax, My uncle was minted that's all” Thomas smirks getting the key from his backpack
“You sure he’s fine with us living here?” I ask
“He’s fine he moved to Cali he’s fine with it” He explains going and unlocking the door it creaking open making a million year’s worth of dust flutter up and out the door
“This is gonna be fun” newt sighs as we all get our stuff out the back of Alby’s car and head inside the whole place looked like something out of some old painting but it did have a tone of big rooms almost every room was a master bedroom I Picked out and soon enough newt found me with all his stuff
“What are you doing here?” I ask him
“I thought as now we have our own place, no nosey little sisters and such to bother us I might Share a room with you” He smirked wrapping his arms around my waist
“But I have one bed” I giggle
“I know, Just big enough to fuck you on” he smirks
“Newt you once fucked me on a bathroom sink and a children's plastic kitchen, I wasn’t aware space was an issue here” I laugh as I saw him jump on the bed taking off his shirt and Jean's so he laid there In his boxers he laid on his back his face closest to me so he was looking at me upside down and indicating with his finger that he wanted me to come over
“Come here honey” he smirked
“I’m busy newt, I have to find places for all my stuff” I tell him
“Oh come on baby” he moaned getting up and grinding against my arse
“No Newt” I giggle pushing him back onto my bed
“Oh baby! come on then ride me baby” he moaned
“No newt!” I laugh
“fine, I have to go get dinner with tommy, I’ll fuck you when I get back” he smirked giving me a little kiss before going off so I finished up and wondered around  finding all the things and who was where, I saw Alby and Gally in rooms next to each other packings there few things away with a door between their room’s I then noticed Fry and winston already happily snuggling up on a double bed I went down and noticed Minho and teresa going at it on the living room sofa “Guy’s We all have to sit there and I am not cleaning no sex sweats of the couch” I tell them so they stop and began getting ready to go upstairs just as
“FOOD!” Newt and thomas yell just coming back from the take away making everyone quickly hurry into the kitchen and crowding around the huge dining table eager to get the sweet greasy take away food so I took my seat and ate up with everyone else I guess I should explain everyone’s situation, Well obviously me and Newt have been together for the last two year’s our first year was so sweet he was a cute little nerd back then, then sex got into our heads now thats all he ever seems to want to do anymore Alby and gally are together but as far as I know have never done it, or if they had they addnt told any of us,  Fry and winston had been together longer then me and newt they are going on strong at four years they where so so sweet, Minho and teresa...its complicated she has dated both minho and thomas but they kinda all have a odd like freinds with benifits thing between the three of them I dont know how it works and I am not to sure I want to know once we had all eaten gally and alby went off to their rooms to do some work, minho and teresa hurried off toher room and thomas went to bed on the sofa almost out cold and fry and winston went up to bed too leaving me and newt alone in the kitchen cleaning everything away or well tossing everything into the trash until atlast the table was clear “so... do I get to fuck you now?P” he smirked wrapping his arms around me tightly
“I guess, lets go” I giggle pulling him to kiss me as he backed me up against the dinning table his hands on my arse as we made out his long wet tongue exploring every inch of my mouth his hands craressing my arse cheeks with a slow firm passion he always had with me I wrapped my arms around his neck wrapping my fingers in the little grips of his fluffy hair pulling him closer to me and harder onto me his hands slowly moed up to my hips so I grind them against his hands sloiwly and seductively
“Umm Babygirl” eh groaned deeply only just pulling away from my lips to rest his forehead against mine his eyes shut his bottom lip trapped with his teeth at that moment looking at his closed eyes I noticed a slow sensation on my leg a slow rubbing on my leg and a hardening “Umm Newt are you really?” I begn
“Yeah, I dont think I can wait all the way up those stairs babygirl” he groaned rubbing up against my leg harder
“Umm is my sexy man so pleasure deprived he has to rubb up against me?” I giggle and he just nodded so I opened my legs hopping onto the table so I was just sat on it and wrapping my leggs around his waist he opened his eyes and stayed at me
“Fuck I love you” he smirked going away fro a moment to check thomas was still asleep in the living room and shutting and locking the kitchen door before coming back to me and pulling my underwear from my skirt and undoing his jeans and getting his wallet from his back pocket and getting a condom from there conveniently one red and yellow with “open in emergency” and he quickly undid it with his teeth as I moved my hand down and pulled down his boxers enough to make his huge erection spring free from his boxers slapping his stomach as it leaped “Ohh Babygirl” he smirked before I took the condom from his hand and spilled it down his huge cock making him groan biting on his mouth harshly and as I sat back up smirking at his huge cock I saw his eyes dark with lust “Lay down!” he smirked pushing me down and kissing down my neck as he quickly pushed inside my dripping pussy we moth attacked each other’s lips harshly as to not moan and notify the other’s we where fucking on the kitchen table he pulled away for a second to stand straight holding onto my arse tightly smirking down at me before speeding up his hard thick cock thrusting so fast into my wet pussy my body going almost numb from pure pleasure of his fast thrusts my arse often hitting the edge of the table the pain almost feeling good in all of this till he sped up and went deeper
“Oh newt!” I moan purposely clenching around him as he went full in
“Oh Y/n” he moaned in response harshly moving much just tiny little hits into that one spot he knows I cant resist causing me to clench tightly around him and cum squirting around him which was enough to make him shake and shudder filling the condom providing him with his sweet release he gave me another sweet kiss before pulling out off me and pulling up his pants taking the condom off and disposing it in the top of the bag from take out and taking it outside as I slipped my underwear back on and went to open the living room door
“what was the door doing locked?” Thomas asked now awake watching south park on the sofa
“Stuff” I giggle just as newt came back his hair all sweaty and the obvious look of sexual happiness on his face
“Ohhhh” he smirked
“and you told us off for wanting to do it in the living room” Teresa sighs as her and minho come back to watch TV
“Well sofa’s are harder to get sex smell of then tables” I tell her
“Plus we got to christen the house” Newt smirked
“Yeah with jizz and pussy juice” Minho laughed
FRY’S POV:
Once we got back to our room I noticed Winston was a bit more cuddly he never wanted to let go of me “what’s the matter with you man?” I ask him
“I don’t know” He smirked “Maybe I need my sexy man tonight” he smirked tugging on my collar over to the bed so I gave him a sweet little cuddle
“Don’t you just wanna sleep get used to the new house tonight?” I ask him
“No.. I want you to fuck me hard ! Make me scream make the whole street know who’s get’s to fuck my arse” he smirked falling down on the bed and slipping of his shirt “aren't you tempted? knowing I need you so bad” He smirked crawling down the bed taking off his pants and bending down so his face was in the pillows and his tight elastic boxers over his arse
“well...When You put it that way Winston” I smirk kneeling on the bed and gripping his hips forcing his arse back to grind against me  “I knew you couldn’t resist me spiggy” he smirked moving a hand of mine down from his hips meeting his hard bulge in his boxers “It’s all for you” he smirked moving and bouncing a little on me to tease me more
“Good boys that want to be fucked so bad lay down and shut up!” I tell him pushing him back face first into the pillows as I pull off his boxers and grabbing the huge lube container from the dresser and slavering my hand with it before rubbing it all over his tight arse even putting my slender index finger inside him making him moan frustratingly
“But I wanted your cock” He begs
“You will get it, be patient” I smirk pulling off my pants and shirt covering my cock in as much lube as I could before pulling him close and pushing inside
“OHHH MY GOD!  I always forget just how big you are” he Moaned as I thrusted fast and hard going as deep as I could and letting him moan and scream as much as he wanted as I sped up slapping his tight arse as I did “Oh God YES!” He screamed as I saw his hand moving to his hard dick lightly pumping it but I batted his hand away
“No touching yourself, Im gonna make you cum” I smirked speeding up again and slapping him hard
“OHH YES!” he screamed so I sped Up again going at an inhuman pase making him cum onto the bed and I came into him but as I did he pushed me out letting it spray all over his arse “Ohh Fry I love it when you cum on me” He smirked
“Umm I love it too” I smirk as he flipped over so I kissed him softly getting up and getting ready for bed “arnt you gonna change too?” I ask him
“No, Im gonna sleep naked so you can look at my sexy arse all night” He smirked
“Alright” I laugh going to bed with him.
TERESA’S POV:
As soon as south park was finished I went up to my room sitting on my bed and reading my magazine until my door swung open and there stood Minho in his tight skinny jeans starring at me “Hey You Little slut” He smirked “I brought thomas with me” He smirks ...

This Evening
Characters: Takane, Haruka Ships: HaruTaka Genre: Hurt/comfort, romance, fluff Rating: K Word count: 4000+
Tomorrow story about a girl who, finally, tells the truth.
Today, I was tired.
I was so tired, and I wasn’t even sure why. I mean, yeah, I stayed up late—but this kind of tired was way worse than normal (which was saying something, at least for me.) I wanted to cry at the simple idea of opening my eyes; I’d long since decided I wasn’t getting out of bed today. However I was soon rudely provoked otherwise by a voice that had entirely different plans in mind.
“Good morning, Takane. ♡” That soft, however cheerful sound echoed in our otherwise silent room. I didn’t need to look to know whom it belonged to. If the sun was up and about, so was he. “Or should I say, afternoon!”
My boyfri—  I, I mean, my, lov—wait. My, romantiii—…?  Ugh. My…
Haruka.
"Rise and shine, sleepyhead,” he said in a sing-song voice. Normally, I’d have just ignored him, but he pulled the window’s drapes open, and the sun rays poured brightly across our formally darkened room. Loudly, I hissed—then shielding my face with my blanket.
“Leave. Now.”
He emitted a small disappointed sound as I felt him sit on the edge of my bed. “Don’t be like that,” he said softly, making my feelings of resentment seem almost trivial. “You should really get up—at least for a while, okay?”
“No,” I said adamantly, “I’m tired.”
“You’ve been asleep for fourteen hours.” He pulled the covers off my face, looking at me with a worried sort of expression that was hard to say no to...
But, being myself, I found a way.
Again hiding my face, I growled. Appearing on the wide-screen TV mounted across the room, a drastic change in my voice was heard. “Ahhh, you’re so needy!” Floating upside-down, I lazily kicked my feet (or rather, lack there-of) back and forth. I wasn’t keen on any measure of consciousness right now, but at least I wasn’t on the verge of physical exhaustion like this. “Are you happy now?”
“You know what I meant, Takane,” he replied, sounding concerned. “It’s not good for your body to stay in bed for so long. Inactivity breeds inactivity, you know?” (Pul-lease. I was inactive for two straight years. I’ve all but perfected the art of being dormant; at this point, I’m basically a pro.) “You should get up, and get some exercise.” (No.) “We should go somewhere, or do something fun!” (No, no, no.)
“Yeah, and we can do that with me in your phone!” I brushed off his suggestion. “And besides, don’t you think I’m just so much cuter like this?” I tried to bait him—using my hands to frame my face as I bat my eyelashes in his direction. Vague attempts at flirting were a lot easier behind a screen, I had to say.
“Hmm…” He looked back and forth between my real body and the screen a couple times, eventual to conclude, “Nope. Because Takane’s always adorable.”
Y’know...?
It didn’t matter if I was real or virtual—when he said stupid things like that, he never failed to make me flustered. “Y-You—!” I puffed out my cheeks and pouted at him in annoyance, and he seemed to preemptively know I was about to fuss at him, because he cut me off.
“In fact, you’re so adorable,” a somehow innocent sort of smirk (an expression only he could manage,) flickered across his visage, and he leaned down to hover over me slightly, “I think I could just kiss you.”
“…W-Wha—?!”
Even though it’d been a few months now, since we’d gotten into a… relaaation—this… this, relay—ugh.
It had been a few months since we’d gotten, eh-hem… together, (—was it possible for a human-turned-anime-esque virtual entity to throw up in its mouth a little bit? Because I’m pretty sure I just did—) but I’d had yet to find the courage to so much as kiss Haruka’s cheek thus far. My virtual head started spinning just thinking about it.
While he certainly gotten close (what with his face being not an inch from mine,) I stopped him before he could do anything. My eyes snapped wide open, and with my heart racing a mile a minute now, I clasped my hands over his mouth and pushed him away.
Did he really just embarrass me into waking up?
“A-Alright, alright! I get it!” I glared.
With his mouth still covered and his voice muffled, he was cheerful to ask, “So you’ll get out of bed?”
I nodded in defeat, to which he seemed delighted. I soon realized that any sort of movement provoked a headache from my irrational sleep deprivation, but I could only groan and sit upright. He was sure to give me a good-morning/afternoon hug—which I specifically didn’t return. I wanted him to know just how inconvenient he was being.
But, of course, he didn’t seem to get the message as he went on without concern, “I’ll make you breakfast.”
“Not hungry.”
“You should eat anyway.” (What are you, my babysitter?) “And you should change out of your pajamas. I’ll even help you brush your hair before we leave,” he told me, putting his hand atop my head before running his fingers through my waist-length mess of tangles. I felt my face heat up, but as I was still too out-of-it to complain; I could only stare in annoyance as he soon disappeared out the doorway.
After he was gone, I put my fingers to my lips, reflecting on what’d just happened—both his gracious attitude... and my bitter one. Despite technically being together, ours hardly seemed to qualify as a real relationship. There were still so many... things, we’d yet to do, and, perhaps more-so—so many things I’d yet to say.
I groaned, pushing all related thoughts to the back of my mind before flopping back down on the bed. Despite everything, I somehow only felt more tired than before.
Regardless of my constant whining for an alternative, he eventually convinced me to go for a walk. He’d said he’d had a nice place in mind—that place being fairly peaceful and quite with all things considered, as it was somehow isolated from the rest of the city. Naturally, to that—I didn’t argue.
However when we got there, I could only look upon this place with a vacant visage, as if surprised. I got a strange kind of feeling upon gazing at the sky projected above the green landscape; it felt like it wasn’t the first time in my life, that I’d stood in this exact spot. I mean, I guess... it probably wasn’t?
After all, it was that little hill next to the high school we used to attend.
As Haruka made his way to the hill’s peak without me, my confusion shifted something resembling distress... or desire—but I could only cant my head to the side, trying to understand the situation. It was as if there was something important to be remembered here, but I just wasn’t quite sure what that was.
“Aren’t you coming?” Haruka asked, looking back at me.
“Ah,” I responded softly, “Yeah.”
Regardless of was escaping my mind, the area was otherwise tranquil as promised. It’d be a good place to kick back and listen to the radio for a while, but... glancing over to Haruka from the corner of my eye, I couldn’t quite bring myself to physically put my headphones on.
Regardless, still resentful, I didn’t engage him in conversation, but he didn’t seem to notice or mind. As per usual wherever he went, he brought it sketchbook, so he was occupied.
Shifting my gaze, I glanced down to the paper. He seemed to take notice, as he hid the picture against his chest, wearing a distinctly guilty expression. Quite fittingly, in fact, as I’d seen enough to know what he was doodling.
“What have I told you about that,” I narrowed my eyes, to which he, naturally, grew downcast and discouraged.
“But… I love drawing you.”
I felt a sudden fluster, having never quite realized the fact for some reason. I growled at him, visibly angered—then crossing my arms with a huff. I turned away, so he couldn’t see my face. “Well, I don’t care! Draw something else!”
“Hmm…” he pondered for a moment, not letting my mood get to him too extensively. From the corner of my eye, I saw him look around, eventually setting his sights. It wasn’t long before I heard the sound of his pencil tracing across the page—but just to be safe, I waited a few minutes before looking back to him (...but I swore to God—if I looked over and saw the back of my head on that page, I’d smack him right in the fac—)
Oh? “What’s that?” I asked bluntly. It was a strange sort of picture that I couldn’t quite make out yet. (Oh, gosh—don’t tell me it was an abstract picture of the back of my head?) However he didn’t seem discouraged by my untrained eye, as he only smiled and held his sketchpad out at arms length—comparing his picture to the original subject.
“It’s the sunset, see?”
“…Oh. Oh, yeah, I kinda see now,” I replied.
Suddenly, I realized how late the day had gotten. I must’ve slept a really long time… and yet—
I was still so tired.  Why did I have to be this way?
The thought only proved to make me more upset, so naturally—throwing some of that pessimism Haruka’s way—I asked, “Isn’t it kinda impossible to draw something like a sunset with just one color?”
“Eh? You think so?” he tilted his head a bit. “Well, I say it’s only as impossible as you make it seem,” he stated in contradiction, pointing his finger in the air.
I shrugged, because, well—what did I know, right? Guess that’s why he was the one with the sketchpad here. Though I was pretty sure it had more to do with my sour attitude (which, naturally, didn’t stop there.) I only continued to discourage him, or maybe I was just testing how far his optimism went. “It just seems boring to me.”
Even though I’d all but insulted him just now, he hardly seemed phased; he just laughed my comment off. “Then I’ll make sure to bring colored pencils next time, so you like it more—okay?” To which I narrowed my eyes—feeling oddly annoyed as he suggested going out of his way to please me. Regardless, he went on to explain, “I just wanted to draw the sunset today, too. Since I couldn’t draw what I really wanted, I picked the next best thing,” —he could’ve sufficed in saying, but naturally—that wasn’t enough for him. He laughed quietly to himself, as if he preemptively knew how I’d react to his next statement. He smiled, timidly holding his sketchpad against his chest.
“It’s close, but even the sunset couldn’t be as beautiful as Takane.”
“Eh?!” I shouted... to which he laughed once more, and I instantly smacked his sketchpad out of his hands. I hissed in his direction, fixating a harsher kind of glare. “Stop laughing, idiot!”
He didn’t. “But, I mean it!” he said.
Bitterly, I tried my hardest to hurt his feelings. “W-Well—! I hate the sun!”
Reading me like a book, he was forward in explaining myself to me with a smile. “When you say you don’t like something, I know it means you love it.”
I was caught off-guard and was without words for a moment. “I… I do not,” I finally said... perhaps only furthering his point. “Whatever! You’re just an idiot!”
“And when you act mean like that, I know you don’t mean it either.”
“Wh-What?!” I stuttered, offended, as if I had no idea what he was talking about—to which he only smiled as if he’d proven me right. I wasn’t entirely sure, but I think this is what the “Haruka” equivalent of smugness looked like. I grit my teeth, growling at him. Even though he was just being honest, it made me bothered. I leered at him and stood abruptly. “Whatever,” I muttered in frustration. Turning back in the direction of the base, I’d decided I’d had enough “physical activity” for today. “I’m too exhausted for this.”
While I didn’t want him to try to stop me, in the back of my mind… I was silently hoping he’d follow. And as if on cue, he seemed to have known that—as I heard him pick his things up before soon trotting at my side.
Without permission, he reached for my hand to hold. Though I was kinda relieved by it, I jerked my arm away regardless. I could’t let him think he was off the hook. But, again, he didn’t seem bothered by my behavior at all—as I was surprised to feel him reach for my palm once more. I gave him an apparent questioning look, as if I was saying, “What are you doing, don’t you know I’m mad at you?”
But acting as if nothing was abnormal at all, he only smiled sweetly in reply—a smile that still resentfully made my heart race to this day. In fact, it made me feel… kinda light-headed. Regardless, I only made myself feel worse, as I tore my hand from his once more.
And again, he reached for it.
...Why? Hadn’t I been nothing but a rotten brat to them like I have today? I mean, hadn’t I done everything in my power to push him away all afternoon. With a glare plastered to my visage, I didn’t give myself the chance to think before shouting my first reaction in his face. “Can’t you take a hint for once?! God, I just can’t stand you some days!”
I expected my words to injure him, but he just stopped in his tracks, narrowing his eyes in a way that looked somewhat pensive, or maybe just blissful. Acting like my rage had no validation, he gave me that angelic smile once more.
“I know, Takane.” I recalled our prior conversation; as if on cue, he put his hand to my cheek. “I love you, too.”
Hearing him say that, feeling the gentle touch of his hand—it sent chills down my spine, and a drowning wave of emotions over my head.
How can you excuse my behavior so easily? It makes me so mad; if you acted this way to me, I’d punch you in the face and never speak to you again. Your attitude makes me furious, outraged, disgusted with anger.  You’re such an idiot.
I just wanted to start screaming at him like I often did—shouting my frustrations for him to hear. But, just like always, that didn’t feel right.
Instead, tearing my hand away again— I said something even worse.
“Then why didn’t you know I was in love with you two years ago?”
And to that—suddenly, terrifyingly, that look of understanding had all but disappeared from Haruka’s face, replaced with his utmost confusion. “Wh… what—?” he stuttered—to which I looked off to the side, and once more toward the peak of that hill, though he no longer stood at the top. I took a step back from Haruka.
“You’re such an idiot...”
And... at the same time, you make me so happy, I feel as though I’m about to cry. What did I do to ever deserve to be so happy, with you?
Unable to slap any kind of filter over my mouth at this point, I didn’t have the willpower to control anything I said.
“Maybe if you weren’t so stupid, I wouldn’t have been so stupid!” He flinched a bit as I smacked the sketchbook out of his hands once more. “Maybe we wouldn’t have died if you had just realized it sooner—!”
“T-Takan—”
“—because you know I basically died because of it, right?!”
His eyes widened with fear; mine was a statement to which he took a visible step back. Hearing myself after a momentary lag—tears now burned on the corners of my permanently unpleasant eyes.
Truly, however, my death was the farthest thing from my mind right now.
Even now, I was just looking for yet another way to pin the blame on him. He’d done nothing to deserve such harsh words—not this evening, yesterday evening, and even tomorrow’s too. Ever single day, he was doing everything in his power to make me happy. He did that just by being himself…
And there would never, ever be an evening where I deserved any of it.
I knew the reason, that ours hardly felt like a real relationship... and it had nothing to do what we had or hadn’t done. Believe it or not, It was because what I hadn’t said either. Of course, without the truth, our relationship hardly was one...
But, moreso, even with the truth, it hardly was one.
“You know… you died because of it, right?”
For what was maybe the first time in my life—it was nearly impossible to lie.
“I was… pretending to listen to my headphones—“ I said though the tears, and it sounded so stupid when I said it aloud, “because, I… I wanted you to notice me, to ask for my attention.”
When a person immerses themselves in their own world and someone around them starts doing something else, they can’t help but feel lonely, right? Yeah—talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
“Y-You… you had a stroke, and I could’a done something about it. B-But, I just…!” I should’ve stopped. It felt like I was going to start hyperventilating, and I needed to catch my breath—but I didn’t let myself. “I just ignored you the entire time—!”
Confessing it aloud made my chest throb, but I’d never quite know what a hurting heart felt like—at least, like he did. In response to all this, he hadn’t said a word; the moment was otherwise silent besides my audible sobs.
“Haruka. You died…” I paused, finally forcing myself to mutter through my tears, “because of me. You died, you literally died, because—”
Because I wanted your attention, because I ignored you, because I just couldn’t tell the truth.
“—because I loved you.”
Both mentally and physically, I felt disgusted. Cowardly, I couldn’t at all look his way, and I was somehow surprised to feel Haruka reach over after a moment—gently placing his hand on my shoulder. Suddenly, I felt my adrenaline start to rush once more, because for some reason, in this god-awful situation—he was the one who was consoling me.
I jerked away from him. I turned around as if to run off, but he stopped me in my tracks—grabbing my wrist firmly. “Stop it!” I demanded, and while he wasn’t anything close to aggressive, he just didn’t let me overpower him this time—and he pulled me into a secure embrace. Naturally, I did everything in my power to try to break away from him, pushing and shoving him while I hissed through gritted teeth. “Get away from me!”
God, just get it over with. Just hate me alread—
“—Takane!” he finally said, his voice cracking and sounding alarmingly distressed—so much so that I was caught off guard and I ceased in my struggling. It just enough so he could pull away and look at my face. His eyes were glowing red, undoubtably so he was strong enough to deal with the currently difficult me—but what was more alarming were the few tears that were streaming down his face.
For the first time in my life, Haruka was...  crying in front of me.
And just when I though I couldn’t get any more surprised, he leaned forward as if he had no control over his actions. I froze instantly, my eyes wide and staring without focus. With a moment of realization setting in, I was instant to calm down—because just as gentle and innocent as he was a person—Haruka kissed me.
My heart raced a mile a mine. Eventually, my eyes narrowed to a close to match his, and forgetting everything that happened up until now—I kissed him, too.
He pulled away, just enough to speak—and what he said seemingly made no sense at all, but for some reason, I think I believed him.
“Takane… it wasn’t your fault.”
I’d imagine he’d opened his eyes to look at me, but upon being unable to do the same, I finally realized why I felt so tired today—and that was because, I didn’t feel much of anything at all. My body included.
After a moment, I heard him say my name quizzically, the tone of his voice suddenly growing more distressed. Just as I was about to fall to the ground, Haruka caught me before I could.
For the first time since getting my physical form back, I was having an attack... At what might have been the literal worst time possible.
He knelt, propping my body against his chest. He said my name a couple times, shaking me a bit, and the only reason I knew was because I’d instantly transferred myself to my phone. I peeked up at him from my own pocket; he seemed to take notice, giving a weak smile as he reached for me. I attempted to hide, though I didn’t have anywhere to go. I whined a bit as I held my sleeves up to cover my pouting face.
“I’m sorry.” Looking down at my unconscious self, he (almost guilty) added, “I... I shouldn’t have done that.”
With anyone else, I’d be aggressively vocal in agreement. Even with him, in most cases, I’d be in agreement. But, truly, his physical actions weren’t what caused this to happen, but rather his words.
My arms fell to my sides, I didn’t bother to flaunt my virtual persona. The tone of my voice reflected that of physical body’s. “Even if you don’t blame me, it was still my fault.”
Again, the look on his face fell to concern. He was silent for a moment, though it looked as though he had something he wanted to say. He stopped looking at the phone, only to look down at the “me” he held in his arms. He reached up, brushing the hair from my eyes.
“No, Takane, it wasn’t” he finally said. “I, I was going to die,” his words passed with slow and hesitant intonation, perhaps more serious than I’d ever heard him, “no matter what.”
My eyes widened, the pixels around my mouth shifted to a gaping expression. Confused, I could only mutter my response. “W...What?” To which Haruka gazed off to the side, as if he couldn’t bare to look at my real nor artificial face. He grit his teeth, seeming hesitant but sure to continue.
“And what’s worse, I... I knew it. I had known it for years—long before I even met you.”
I stared blankly. For a program of seemingly artificial intelligence, I don’t think I could quite comprehend the meaning of what I’d heard. Overwhelmed, it was my first reaction to blurt all the questions coming to my mind. “W-Why? Why? Since when? How? Ah, ah—“ With digital tears forming in the corner of my virtual eyes too, I could only ask in fluster, “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I wanted to, Takane—but I couldn’t,” he was instant to explain, gritting his teeth with a pained expression. “I could only tell Shintaro-kun, because something about the idea of telling you just... made my heart stop even faster.” He grit his teeth with a pained expression, as if remembering something. After a moment, I knew why.
“Maybe it’s for the same reason I didn’t… I didn’t realize how you felt. Because I knew... I was going to die, and I couldn’t be with you.”
A confession to which I choked on my words, unsure if I felt more or less guilty than before. My breath hitched, as I was unsure of what to say. Thankfully, Haruka did.
“Takane...” he exhaled my name, “if there’s one thing I’ve never wanted, it’s for you to blame yourself. Because we died together, I have the chance at a real life, with you.”
It took me a moment to understand his meaning, but the moment I did, I felt my cheeks heat up. My real cheeks. I felt my consciousness somewhat regainable. Slowly, I opened my eyes, still damp from tears, and looked up at him. He returned my gaze with red irises, which made sense as he soon stood, holding me in his arms like a bride.
His final statement left me with yet another new sensation throbbing in my chest. Without a second thought, I reached up, grabbing Haruka by the collar, pulling him into another kiss. After a moment of mutual surprise, I felt his hold around me grow my firm, as he cradled me tightly in his arms. He kissed me back.
Feeling bold for what might’ve been the first time in my life, it was all but impossible to restrain myself. But, also, for the first time in my life... I didn’t feel like I had to.
“You’re not the reason I died, Takane. You’re the reason I’m really alive for the first time in my life.”
