When talking about the distinction between Simon Petrikov and the Ice King,  it’s important to remember that originally, the Crown wasn’t trying to turn Simon into Ice King -
Tumblr media
It was trying to turn him into this guy.
Tumblr media
At the time, the Ice Crown - or rather the Wishing Crown - was programmed with Gunther’s wish to become Evergreen. So everything related to making the current wearer like Evergreen is a very direct result of the Crown’s Magic. The physical changes -
Tumblr media
And the obsession with the name ‘Gunther’ -
Tumblr media
And maybe some of the irritability and anger issues -
Tumblr media
That is something the Crown is very directly forcing unto its current wielder.
But everything else?
Ice King, personality-wise, was not much like Evergreen at all, or even like Gunther's view of him. And Ice Finn of the Farmworld Universe was also pretty different from the both of them.
At the time, I remember people assumed Ice Finn’s behavior is more indicative of what the Crown is actually trying to do with its wielders. That Ice King is so different because of Simon’s subconscious resistance against the Crown - while Finn’s much younger and dumber brain is a lot susceptible to the Curse’s influence to become some sort of mad world-conquering emperor of ice and snow.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But, with the context of the Crown’s actual backstory. That doesn’t seem very likely anymore. I think what’s actually happening there is that the Crown is just trying to make its wielder an Ice Wizard on par with Evergreen (who was the Actual Goddam Ice Elemental) and that means pumping the wielder’s brain so full of Magic, Madness and Sadness to a level that is bound to overwhelm anyone.
And Simon’s and Farmworld Finn’s very different behaviors after putting on the crown is indicative, more than anything, of how their psyche reacts to Madness and Sadness in general. You know, Finn has a very proactive and kinda aggressive personality - and you add Crown-induced-Madness-and-Sadness and a compulsion to use Ice Magic as much as possible and you get all of…. this
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, for Simon, the compulsions of the Crown originally filtered exclusively via the language of protection
Tumblr media
As his madness always manifested as romantic obsession
Tumblr media
And using goofy humor to try and deny the pain he’s going through
Tumblr media
Because that’s how Simon’s mind specifically reacts to being flooded with so much Madness and Sadness.
That’s why there’s so many parallels between Ice King and the sort of mistakes and screwed-up stuff Simon does right now! He’s even kidnapping people again!
Tumblr media
Because the Madness and Sadness of Ice King might’ve been induced by the Crown, but now Simon has plenty of personal home-grown Madness and Sadness inside him - and it’s no surprise that Curse-Induced or not, his mind reacts to it in a sorta-similar way. (Although obviously not as intensely, again, there was a LOT of MMS in the Ice Crown).
Now as for Ice Thing, and the fact that he seems to be actually rather well-adjusted under effects of his version of the Wishing Crown. I mean... not by the time of the 1000+ Era, but that’s literally eons in the future and also maybe more Gibbon’s fault. Even if the Crown will eventually take some sort of toll on him, for now he seems to be doing pretty well considering his wish. I mean, there's still some sort of Loss of Identity stuff going on
Tumblr media
But everything we've seen of Ice Thing (in the present day, at least) shows him as a friendly and cheerful individual that gets along well with others. A far cry from how maladjusted every single wielder of the Ice Crown acted.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
At the very least, if there's any notable amount of Sadness in him, we really haven't seen it yet.
Tumblr media
There might be several factors here:
First things first, I should acknowledge the possibility that it’s just that Orgalorg’s eldritch brain is better at intaking all that MMS juice. That could play a part, but I think it’s probably more important, at least thematically, to look at the distinction between ‘I wish to be Evergreen’ and ‘I wish to be Ice King’.
First in the sense that while Ice King was occasionally mean to Gunter at times - he was generally much kinder than Evergreen ever was for ‘his’ Gunther. So, like, pretty much the one Personality Flaw of Ice King that you can directly link to the Ice Crown’s attempt to mimic Evergreen is the occasional anger issues.
Tumblr media
And how they relate to Gunther’s view of Evergreen, so grumpy and controlling and constantly saying ‘NO!’
Tumblr media
(Both Finn and Simon’s demonstrable not-crown-induced trauma responses can make them pretty short-tempered as well. So I’m not going to say this is purely the effects of the Crown. It still probably plays some sort of factor at why the wielder of the Ice Crown is Like That).
And that is not a factor in how Gunter views Ice King. For him, Ice King was a doting and loving father figure - so if the Crown was ever trying to implement any sort of specific negative personality traits, this is absolutely no longer a factor. Because the original Ice Crown was a reflection of Evergreen’s abuse, and now Ice Thing is a reflection of Ice King’s fatherly love.
Tumblr media
Which is, itself, probably an echo or remnant of Simon’s own strong parental instincts.
Tumblr media
Secondly, while the Crown was trying to make the Ice King just as powerful as Evergreen…. Ice King was obviously not as powerful as Evergreen. Because he was already a second-rate copy of the Ice Elemental’s power, and because Ice King was often just too doofy to use his powers correctly and probably because some remnant of Simon’s original sensible self is subconsciously holding his powers back.
Either way, being ‘like Ice King’ as Gunter sees him requires less Magic than being ‘like Evergreen’ as Gunther saw him - and therefore less Madness and Sadness. Leading to the wearer or, um, the eater being a lot more well-adjusted from the get-go.
And I think that the implication that Ice Thing has fused with the Crown, so there's never going to be another poor sap who puts on the Crown and gets Ice King'd. But if there is one somehow... at least the process is going to be less mentally detrimental that time around?
Maybe one day Simon could look back and appreciate how much he (or Ice King, or both of them, or however you want to look at the situation) is responsible for basically neutralizing the Crown that ruined his life in the first place.

It's All an Act
Actor!AU Bruce Wayne x fem!Reader
Tumblr media
wc: 7.6 K summary: Actor!Bruce plays as your love interest in your up-coming movie warnings: afab!reader, both being about the same age, acting sex scenes on set (not real secs for now), reference to the Writer's Strike (2023) please don't arrest me, sassy and smug Bruce, making out a/n: got this idea while scrolling through pinterest, lost my mind somewhere during this, originally wanted to make a single part on it, but I think it's better if I make it a few parts instead. enjoy!
next part
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Everyone knew you. Well, it was hard to find someone who didn‘t at least know how you looked like. The same goes to Bruce Wayne, but there is probably a chance that he is even more successful than you.
And that‘s exactly what you are trying to change with your new movie. Casting him as the main character and yourself as his love interest will get the media spiraling. Being a director and actor really does have its charms sometimes. And surprisingly enough, he accepted the role since he auditioned to it in the first place. Now you can finally get to prepare all the stuff for the filming days once you got all the other actors for each role filled, and the script finished.
There‘s no more satisfying feeling you get when everything seems to work out and it‘s time to actually film the movie. The hardest part is to keep it a secret for a few months until the production gets into working. But for now you are pretty satisfied with your work, getting some progress and even getting to test out new cameras for the movie, form a company that supports the production. Only thing that‘s making you a little weary is the actual success of the movie. What if he ends up getting even more popular than you? What if the movie flops completely and you need to somehow cover that up? What if you won‘t have good chemistry on set, even with two talented actors like you two? What if…
»Have you finally got the copy of the storyboard?«
Malva asks, looking to you with her usual strict look, one of your close friends waiting for your answer. She is working with the camera crew, has gone to filming school with you. Has sticked to your side through thick and thin, and she still gets ideas that blow your mind at times. Her ideas are mostly for camera directing, but that's the most exciting part in filming for most, so it really pays out.
At her question, you hand her the copy of the storyboard, getting to discuss some questions and how you actually imagined the scenes to look like, getting invested on talking with her that you don‘t notice your co-star arrive on set and search for the director.
»I‘m guessing you are the director? Sorry for interrupting.«
There is that bright smile in front of you that never fails to make you swoon for at least a split moment. No, actually, you can‘t stand the way he looks so perfect and has more prominent in media than you. Although it is a little weird when he mostly takes on smalled roles as side characters and rarely gets a main role like this.
»No, don‘t be sorry, I‘m glad you made it! We‘re still setting up some stuff, so you can get ready in trailer seven.«
He nods and gets to the trailer that is going to be his while filming, letting you have some more time with Malva and your crew to set everything up and start to film the first scenes.
You settle on filming the scenes in the middle of the movie, only able to use the setting for today and tomorrow, really hoping you won‘t film too long so the landlord of the property won‘t get angry at you.
Once settled, the filming starts and it goes by fairly nice and as planned. Sure, it was a little funny acting out a scene with him, playing a couple who‘s having an argument about their current state of relationship, even when they just met on set.
Either way, the crew and co-director are satisfied with the result after taking some more takes. Maybe this will be better than you‘ve expected. Until you realised what the next scenes were going to be. You hate yourself for writing this script. A sex-scene, seriously? Trying to overshadow your small worries, you get ready in your trailer with some help of your staff before you discuss the ‚choreography‘ of the scene together with Bruce and the intimacy coordinator. This loosens you both up, having a plan and also know what to expect from this scene, since you literally just wrote „They undress and have sex.“ What a creative script writer you are.
You don‘t know what you expected, but you didn‘t necessarily think that Bruce would be so open and chill about such a scene. During your discussion of boundaries and acceptable touching areas, he seemed like he didn‘t have any problem being touched anywhere, really. It was a little strange at first, but you quickly realised he probably just wants to get over with it. And that made you a little sad. He should be comfortable during the scene, not be annoyed and hoping for it to end quickly, considering filming usually takes a few hours. The co-director and you want some close-ups, wide- hots and midshots in order to edit it together as the best verion of the scene in post. Of course it‘s going to take hours and it‘s important to feel comfortable during the long filming hours together.
But he reassured you after asking him again with that charming smile of his, hating how perfect it looks like. You‘ve seen him on interviews and on the red carpet before, but seeing him smile like that never fails to make you wonder if he is actually real.
Finally, with everything settled and with the modesty garments on, you can finally film the ‚Reuniting Scene‘ with your co-star.
Your movie is about two past lovers who find each other gain after a few years, then getting together again. What a classic. The plot is however more than that. The main character, Bruce, or rather Andy in the movie, is a playboy and billionare with a secret identity. His love interest doesn‘t know this though and just wants to get together with him again, and he is way too naive to get in bed with you almost immediately after one cafe date. Playboy activities.
This means that the scene you are about to play is essential for the movie.
First, you start with wide shots. Easy done, getting a camera set up that follows your movements onto the bed. After getting some shots of Andy passsionately and messily kissing you while guiding you urgently to the bed, you already feel a little worn down. So, time for a break!
During the break, he approaches you to discuss the other stuff in the script.
»Just… how did you get the idea of this plot? I mean, a playboy having a secret identity as a hero? How did you come up with that?«
You didn‘t know he was a secret interviewer as well. But putting your slight surprise aside, you start explaining to him briefly what got you into this idea while trying to keep it as brief as possible. Also without telling him about your initial plan of getting more popular than him... In a way.
All the while he listens to the while you explain, listening intently while nodding along from time to time. Unfortunately, you got a little carried away while explaining him your reasons for the movie, having ended up info dumping on him a little about your researches you did for writing the script, which however made him listen to you even more intently.
»So, I also just watched a lot of videos and documentations about gun handling and missions from former private agents, so I can make this as believeable as possible, but I also feel like I still haven‘t mastered it quite well for now, even though I made sure the props are as realistic as possible and we have a good choregrapher for the fight scenes later on – « You ramble on as you get on set again, settling onto position on the bed while talking his ears off in the meantime. It doesn‘t seem like he minds though, listening to your words, while throwing in some small questions and check-ups as he is hovering above you on the bed.
»Yeah, you can put your hand on my thigh – and I also made sure to actually make the small mission Andy is in will be as realistic and logical as possible, but I‘m also a little unsure if the scenario is actually so realistic as it is…«
»You‘re really determined to get the most realistic movie of the year, huh?« He muses back once you trail off, looking to you once you are both finally in position on bed.
»What? How could you ever think of that?«
You retort sarcastically, not having noticed how much you‘ve been talking until the co-director just calls »Action!« for the cameras to roll and you have to act.
Your breath hitches subtly once you feel his hand ride up your thigh before landing at your collar of your shirt and starts to unbutton it in careful but rushed movements. Again, you have to follow the small choreography you both came up with earlier, your brain working quick to actually follow through and act as if this already feels like heaven. Finally, you get your head together and reach for the back of his neck to connect your lips, getting a small moan from both of you. His hands finally pry your shirt off and he disconnects his lips from you to trail them down your throat towards your chest, a small shiver running down your spine against your will.
You both agreed for him to have the upper hand in this, since he is acting as a playboy, and you‘d be lying if you said he isn‘t quite confident in his role. Your thoughts are quickly thrown away as you feel him press kisses against your temple and down to your jaw while his hands roam over your sides. Mimicing his actions, your hands feel across his lean back and press him further down towards you. A low growl escapes him before he takes your thigh in his hand to push it up against his side.
The scene ends for now, needing to repeat it for a close-up shot. You are actually grateful he has expirience in intimate scenes, not needing to give him any more instructions or tips since he has quite a good knowledge in it already. Repeating the same scene for the next shot was easier, actually having had a little time to prepare instead of being pulled away from your rant about your script. Afterwards, you get another break and take your time to actually collect yourself before continuing with the scenes. Your co-director pulls you to her side for a moment to look over the filmed scenes, not having expected for them to actually look… hot? Well, this is good, actually. It‘s a little strange seeing you on screen like this, but you knew you would need to look over the scenes either way.
Once satisfied, you get back to your spot to sit down and scroll through your phone, distract yourself from the scene you just filmed over and over again, feeling how mush your brain feels right now.
This time, Bruce doesn‘t come around to ask you about the plot and other stuff, probably having had enough of your rant earlier. You really tried to explain it to him briefly, but it ended up in a full ramble session.
Filming the last few scenes were a little difficult to master from the last hours of filming, but time came by faster than you‘d expected and it is time to pack up and leave the set for today.
The filming days actually went by rather fast, and your work relationship grew stronger with Bruce. You had some fun actually acting the scenes out with him, even when the first day was just slightly awkward between you two. Currently, you are neck deep in a book, annotating the pages at the side with a red fineliner during your break. The colour matches the book cover. Bruce walks by and the book in your hand catches his attention. Reading the title, he immediately recognises it and steps up to you.
»My son loves this book.« You finally look up from the words on the page and lock eyes with him, being slightly surprised by it.
»Which son?« You ask slowly, being unsure if this question was offensive or not, even though he showed his rather dark humour early on and doesn‘t seem to be hardly offended by something ever. He huffs out lightly amused and answers your question without missing a beat.
»Jason. My second son. He is a big bookworm, I think he read more classics than school textbooks.«
»Well, he isn‘t the only one.« He smiles lightly at that and takes a seat besidde you, his cup of coffee still in hand.
»So, you‘re a bookworm? Or just to pass time?«
Honestly, you haven‘t exactly expected for him to strike up a conversation with you that seems to be genuine at that as well. The first talk he started with you was just about the script anyway and it was more to clear up his curiousness and slight confusion. This actually feels like he wants to talk to you and get to know you.
»I read quite often. At least when I have time, like now.«
You answer him and close your book, setting it on your lap before clasping your hands over it. Bruce takes your answer in, asking another question.
»And you annotate? What exactly do you write down?« That question throws you a bit off guard, trying to answer him without sounding like a total loser.
»Uhm… usually just my thoughts. And sometimes I analyse sentences, if I feel like it.«
Finally, Bruce seems to be a little impressed. Or maybe he is just good at acting surprised, which you wouldn‘t doubt he is doing right now.
»Really? So, you usually just leave simple comments or thoughts? That‘s actually pretty nice, but I wouldn‘t have the energy to do so.«
You manage a small chuckle at his words, not sure if you should be flustered or not. Was that even a compliment?
»Oh, I get it. Can‘t have much time to yourself with this job.«
He lets out a small laugh as well and nods in agreement, fidgeting with his coffee cup in his hands a little.
The conversation pauses briefly, Bruce speaking up again and looking towards you.
»Would you like to go out and get some coffee some time? Get a break from all this, wouldn‘t hurt right?«
Without much thinking you agree on it and set up a date for it, only later realising it sounded a little suspicius. Even if it was just a little suspicious, you won‘t let that go in your mind. He basically just asked you out. And typically enough, you didn‘t even notice it or gave it a second thought until later when he left again.
Was this genuine or was it just method acting? This would be a little too much for method acting, no? Maybe. Does this concern you even more? Yes.
Getting off the break, you continue to film the second act of the movie, already feeling like this will actually pay out in the end.
It doesn‘t really seem like he is method acting, more like acting out the scenes like a normal actor after practicing his lines thoroughly, and being confident in his performance. Besides, method acting has nothing to do with him asking you out. Method acting, also known as ‚The Method‘ is a form of rehearsal where the actors tries to understand his character and analyses their emotions in order to act it out as accurate as possible and to show the audience the depth of the character. While it is mostly common used for theater, it‘s also common to use it for film.
You are really trying to figure Bruce out. In past interviews he was nothing but charming and polite, strictly polite even, but on set he is no different. It‘s strange, most actors you‘ve worked with were at least a little chaotic and different on set, but not him. You hate to say it, but he is not like others. He has something more to him. A certain charm and touch you can‘t quite put a finger on yet. And being with him almost every day because of work is giving you the opportunity to check on it and find it out, but he is hard to reach as well. It‘s not like he is hard to talk to, it‘s quite the opposite. But your conversations have never been more than mere small talk and discussions about the script, that usually ends up with you rambling off about it. So, you are frustrated.
Eventually, you help the crew and technicians with putting the stuff away for today, knowing you shouldn‘t do it, but you can‘t just leave the studio without helping them with the rest.
Bruce catches you however and snatches the heavy camera from you so he can put it in its case without your back breaking halfway.
»Oh, you don‘t need to, I can- «
»None of that. You already work so much, it‘s only fair when someone helps you out. Besides, I like helping people.«
He ignores your words and just smiles softly, as he puts the camera gently into its case, it seeming as if it doesn‘t weight anything in his arms. The he handled it with such ease really hurts your ego a bit, but also makes you wonder what his workout routine is. Because there is no way he just didn‘t break out a sweat while doing that. Unlike you.
»We don‘t want to miss out on our small date, right? Or did you forget already?«
You don‘t see it but Bruce is ready to be rejected and made fun of with how surprised you look at him. But truth is, you really just forgot about the arranged meeting you both settled on earlier in lunch break, because of all the things you had to do today.
»No, sure we‘re still going out. I just… kind of, forgot about it, but I didn‘t! I mean, I just, uh… let‘s just go, okay?«
You tag him along to the exit and he leads you to the café he mentioned earlier, it seeming already cosy enough from the outside. He opens the door for you before choosing a place to sit at and goes to the counter to order you both a warm drink. He sits down across from you at the table again and just looks at you with a small but noticeable smile. It is quiet for a moment before he speaks up.
»What kind of books do you read again? Or any other hobbies you have?«
Is he really trying to just befriend you or are you just another hopeless case of delusional? Quickly putting those thought aside, you answer him and make it short this time. No rambling now. Once he finds out about your passion for thriller, he perks up and shares his own few favourites about thriller and detective stories. Although he tends to love real biographies and real incidents, there is a mutual interest for those gernes in books.
»It‘s a good thing we have something in common. But I‘ve never tried annotating books before like you do. Is it fun?«
You shrug lightly in response, answering him after a brief moment.
»Depends on the person, but I really enjoy doing that. I like reading through stuff and write down my own thoughts. I also underline sentences and just… use the book. I didn‘t buy it for nothing, right?«
He nods lightly to your words, probably not used to someone using a book to actually write in it just for fun. Most people see it as a crime to doodle into the pages fo your book, but you take pride in it.
»Could I borrow one of your books? Especially one that you wrote in already.«
The suggestion takes you by surprise, but who are you to say no to that? Of course you nod without thinking too much about it, already thinking about which book you will lend him.
»Sure, I‘ll lend you one! I‘ve waited so long for someone to ask me this, what book do you want? I can also just take the book I read today. I have read it over three times anyway.«
Now Bruce is slightly surprised but also glad you agreed to this so easily. He nods slightly, not wasting time on responding to you.
»Animal Farm? Sure, that sounds good.«
Even when the novella isn‘t a thriller or detective, he is still willing to read it just to get to know you even more and read through those silly comments on the sides. Reaching over, you hand him the book which he puts safely into his own bag before the conversation continues between you both and you end up chatting about other stuff as well and enjoy your coffee while talking. You don‘t even realise how much time goes by before the staff in the shop are slowly getting ready to close it, cleaning around and making sure you both don‘t want to order anything anymore. That‘s also when you see how dark it is outside, getting out of the shop with him and walk down the dimly lit streets side-by-side.
Once you are both back at the parking lot, he walks you to your car, making sure you won‘t get kidnapped.
»You know, we could read together in my library some time. If that would be okay.«
That thought put a smile onto your facce but you quickly mask it, not wanting to come off as too excited.
»We could, at least I won‘t mind. I don‘t want to be a bother in your home or anything.«
You respond, still trying to be polite but he seems to destroy it with shaking his head.
»You won‘t be, promise. I‘m sure Damian won‘t mind, and all my other kids only visit occasionally now.« Bruce reassures you, smiling a little at you as he stands before you, waiting for your response. Sighing out you give in, agreeing to the invitation.
»Fine. We can meet up some day to read. I‘m sure I‘ll have time in about a week.« Bruce nods and feels glad you will make some time for him to hang out again. Reading together in comfortable silence? There is nothing better in Bruce‘s mind.
The silence is filled with tension while Andy is standing tall, still with his suit and pistol in hand. His lover is standing right in front of him, a look of horror on their face that makes his chest shred into pieces.
»I can explain...« Andy carefully starts and puts the safety on in his gun before placing it onto the table beside him.
»First you are some kind of playboy, now you are… a murderer?! Who are you really, Andy?«
His lover demands, voice trembling lightly as the tension only rises and rises more between them. With a small step, he tries to get closer and make sure his partner isn‘t freaking out totally.
»I am not a murderer, Bell… I‘m...« There‘s a dramatic pause before he continues, taking a deep breath.
»I am Strong Guy.«
Bruce is doing his best not to laugh at his superhero name from the script, clenching his jaw and keeping up his tense glare, waiting for you to say your next line. Even his damn children tease and make of him for accepting such role, but that‘s not really a surprise. It‘s only a matter of time when he will finally crack up, having warned you prior already.
»No way. You… can‘t be. How is that possible? But Strong Guy is basically from space, right? What… have I been dating an alien the whole time?«
You are in complete shock and disbelief. At least trying to seem like it. When you wrote the script, you really had to hold yourself back from writing a better scene than this. But Hollywood is demanding and only wants to please the poor viewers who are seeing the same movie over and over again, but in a different fond every year. At least the Writer‘s Strike is almost over and other, more legendary directors can direct more original and creative movies… well, depends if the WGA and other people responsible for that will actually care about anything other than money.
»Babe, believe me, I am still me. The Andy you know from high school and the same one you fell for all those years back.« Strong Guy, Andy, uses a softer tone with you now and looks genuinely desperate not to lose his partner because of his secret identity.
Your character isn‘t strong for that matter and gives in after a few more weak attempts of arguing, before the tension eases up and you both hug each other tightly, whispering sweet nothings against the other.
Once the scene ends, you have to repeat for another four times to get it in every angle and make sure you get the best takes. By the time that‘s finished, Bruce can already feel how drained he is after the dramatic and less than poorly written scene. Don‘t get him wrong, he likes the way you tell the story, but the dialoge couldn‘t be any more cheesy and… over-cliché in his opinion. Not that he would that say to your face.
Malva approaches you with a glass of water in hand, offering it to you to cool your mind after the rather intense scene.
»I‘m counting the days, you know? When you and him become… a thing?«
She elbows your side playfully, making you almost spill your water and choke on the sip you just took.
»Mal, what the fuck!«
»Fuck! Yes, when is that going to happen?« She inquires and awaits your answer curiously, seeming dead-serious. But you know her better than that. She is most likely just teasing and tries to force another crush on you yet again.
»I‘m not going to answer the question. We barely know each other.« You mumble back finally and sip on you glass of water in attempt to hide your tiny smile, glancing towards Bruce to make sure he isn‘t secretly eavesdropping on you two.
»Look, I‘m just trying to be honest. The way he looks at you? You can‘t tell me you haven‘t noticed. He is, like… so expressive with his eyes and so dreamy...« Malva trails off and sighs out softly, making you cringe lightly beside her.
You hush her quickly once the man you are both fussing over walks by, exhaling wearily and speak to your best friend again.
»Okay, I may have lend him one of my annotated books and he probably invited me to his library to read together. Next week, or something.«
Her jaw falls almost literally to the floor as she listens to you, in disbelief and is actually speecheless for a second.
»Oh, you have to tell me about how it went! You two already look so good together on set, I can‘t imagine — « You cut her off quickly by pressing your palm against her lips, embarrassed and also noticing Bruce being dangerously near your area.
This is going to be a hell of filming and hang outs in the next few months…
You knew his house was big, but… you nearly want to throw up at how big and pretty it is. If there‘s thing you can compliment him, is that he has good taste in almost everything besides coffee. What sane person likes their coffee completely black and plain?
Walking up to the big double door, you ring the bell and wait patiently. Your wait doesn‘t last long as one of the doors swings open and a rather small boy greets you with a judgemental look. That‘s surely one of his sons. Jason, probably? No, he is too old to look this young…
»Hey there. I‘m here to meet Bruce, is he here?« You greet as polite and friendly as possible, always having managed to scare off children without meaning to. Or at least babies.
»Father should be inside.«
Politely enough, the boy steps aside and lets you enter, watching you intently as you take the interior in.
Feeling a little awkward, you decide to ask. »What‘s your name, by the way?«
He narrows his eyes at you and crosses his arms, answering your questioin that was meant to be polite.
»You are not worth it to know my na —«
»Damian! I‘m sure you showed her around a little and were polite, weren‘t you?«
Bruce hurries down the stairs and approaches you both, seeming only slightly tense as he awaits his son‘s answer, running his hand through his hair.
»Of course, father...«
Damian scoffs lightly and averts his eyes away from you to the floor, seeing some similarities between him and Bruce.
The older man smiles and steps beside you, eventually paying his attention back to you.
»Sorry, this is Damian. My youngest.« He finally introduces and gestures to his son in front of you, taking him in again and nod slightly. Damian is doing a poor job in hiding his displeasure on meeting you, grumbling something under his breath as he gives you a sharp side-glance.
»Alfred said he needs some help in the garden, why don‘t you join him?« Bruce uses the code word they settled on in case Damian should be somewhere that he isn‘t welcome to and gets the message, making his way outside to the backyard.
You watch him wander off in a rather moody demeanor, feeling Bruce‘s warm hand settle between your shoulderblades.
»I hope he wasn‘t a bother while I was gone. He can get… pretty angsty at times.«
He apologises but you quickly wave it off, actually being quite amused and not bothered at all.
»No, I get it. I was just as grumpy and annoyed when I was younger, I don‘t blame him.« At your words, he raises an eyebrow while leading up ustairs with him, walking to his library.
»That‘s interesting. I could never imagine you as a grumpy teenager though, what were you like? Also throwing a tantrum for not receiving the latest comic book?«
He teases lightly but also refers to one of his kids when they were a little younger and spoiled, all to his fault.
»No, I was more of a… rebellious kind? I hated it when people wouldn‘t take me seriously and protested a lot. Over the right stuff, though! Maybe you could call it a punk phase, but I really just wanted to be taken seriously and be understood, you know?«
Bruce listened to you explain while entering the library after passing the hallway, looking to you once again with a fond expression.
»You and I may have more common in that sense, then. I also tried to prove myself to others and threw myself into… some situations. But all for the right reasons, right?«
Maybe Malva was right. You should hurry up and claim this man for yourself.
Snapping your gaze away from him, you take in the big library you are both in, it being a spacious room with tall shelfs, full with books that go up the ceiling, and some couches around in the middle to lounge on. You genuinenly haven‘t expected for him to have this whole area as a library that‘s actually filled with so many books, being literally surrounded by them.
»So? Have you got a book to read? If not, you can always lend one from here.«
He claps his hands once and walks to one of the larger couches before sitting down on it, the book you gave him from your earlier hang out in his hands.
»Oh, I came prepared, I have my own book with me.«
You answer back and take a seat beside him on the couch, taking out the book from your bag as you lean back and start to read where you left off.
He shares his last glance at you before he foccuses on his book for now, feeling joy at the small comments you left on the sides of almost every page, being content just reading in silence for now while sitting beside you.
Some time passes and you both have read quite a lot over the time-being, itching for a small break. Alfred, his butler apparently, had got you both some warm tea and cookies onto the coffee table in front of you and left after saying his usual polite words.
Tasting the cookies, you have never eaten such delicious and not overly sweet cookies before. You need to steal his recipe later and make them yourself at home. The tea is just as good, still warm and having a comforting effect on you. Bruce speaks up, his body turned more towards you on the couch as he has his arm around the back of the couch, sipping on his cup of tea.
»What do you think of your book so far?« It seems like he always asks these questions on purpose, just to hear you talk his ear off about a random topic. But you answer truthfully anyway, looking to him now as you take a break from munching on those cookies.
»I really love the way Pushkin wrote about his wife in his novels, every female character he inserts seems to be his wife and he won‘t waste any time on sweet talking everything. But his works actually represent a path from Neoclassicism through Romanticism to Realism, or whatever they say, so… I just love how easy his rhymes are in some passages and how obvious that is that he was such a hopeless romantic...«
You glance around the library as you talk, eventually trailing off and checking in to see his reaction. He leaned his head against his fist from his arm that rests on the back of the couch, eyes ever so tender and nonjudgemental. Almost loving.
»You okay?« You ask finally, unsure because of his quiet demeanor and how he just stares at you. How long has he been staring for?
»Yeah. Just wondering if you could use that mouth for more than just talking nonsense.«
Now you feel offended, no matter how much he‘s flirting with you right now.
»Nonsense? I think you just lost your mind, I never talk nonsense, especially not about my favourite writer.«
Bruce can‘t help but smile at that, glad you didn‘t react badly to what he just blurted out without actually meaning to.
»I‘m sure everything you say is logical and accurate, but I —«
»Oh, so you weren‘t listening the whole time? Why do you even bother asking me about those —«
This time, you are the one getting interrupted and he puts a gentle hand onto your knee to try and soothe you.
»Because I love the sound of your voice.«
Oh, you froze. Bruce is panicking, he never thought he would be so straightforward with his feelings towards you, but something about you just lets him let loose and be himself. It‘s almost scaring him.
But you didn‘t freeze because you were startled or shocked, but because you never expected for him to compliment you in such a genuine and nice way. And his hand on your knee is only making your case worse. As he is about to get his hand back to himself, you move closer to him and hug him as tightly as you can. Bruce stumbles slightly back into the couch because of the force of your hug, but doesn‘t waste any time on hugging you back. He is instantly relieved at your reaction, letting himself melt into the hug and rub your back lightly in return.
»Not good at taking compliments?«
You scoff at his teasing comment, leaning a little off of him to look into his eyes again.
»At least I don‘t tell people they talk ‚nonsense‘ just to compliment them later.« He rolls his eyes at your light jab, loosening his grip around you as he is unsure if you want to stay in the hug for longer or not. When you don‘t let go, he decides to follow your lead and just let you stay half on top of him with your arms wrapped around his neck. It could come off as friendly cuddling, almost, but there seems to be still some light tension between the two of you.
The fact that Bruce has invited you to his Manor to simply read together says a lot. It is well known to the media that he hasn‘t really been in a relationship, and that he doesn‘t go around dating or hooking up usually. Bruce Wayne is mostly a mysterious person to the media, talking and responding politely and patiently to the interviewers or reporters, letting his guard down only rarely among other people he doesn‘t really know.
Working together with him has shown you that he can warm up to people, especially when they share interests or just seem good-hearted. Like you.
You have shown him how coorperative and kind you are to all your staff and co-actors, he has seen some of your interviews as well. Being kind and bringing a positive message is important for you, and you‘ve made sure to show it. Either through films or other actions, you managed to let Bruce believe there is still good in this world and genuine people. You aren‘t full of money, your beliefs are similar to his in that sense.
He hasn‘t realised it yet, but his hand traces mindless circles around your back as you two stay in the hug, your own hand lightly fidgeting with the back of his shirt collar.
As time passes and you two talk about whatever, the evening rolls by quickly and it becomes dark outside, making the atmosphere more relaxing. By the time you two have talked, you both adjusted your position more, his arms still around in a way while your body is laying mostly across his lap with your head resting against his chest. You didn‘t realize how comfortable it would be to lay almost completely on him, and you‘re trying to make it last.
He uses the opportunity to talk more about himself since you didn‘t really get the chance to get to know each other that much with work. Bruce mostly talks about his sons and daughter, describing their personalities as best as he can, telling a few funny stories here and there from their younger years, knowing they would kill him if they would find out he told you about it.
It‘s endearing hearing him talk about his children, listening to him with heart eyes as you stay in his arms, melting against his chest.
His voice smooth and low, a subtle rasp to it while he eyes dart around the room from one spot to the other until they land on you from time to time. He started to play with your hair at some point, twirling some strands around his finger before letting go and starting again, his hands always busy with something.
»Did anyone ever tell you how soothing you are? Like, I never expected for you to be so calm and kind until now. What‘s with the persona for the press?«
He looks down to you and continues to play around with your hair a little, adjusting his hold on you to let you stay comfortable against his chest.
»Everyone has an online persona. Like to stay more private about my stuff.«
He shrugs lightly, letting his arms stay loosely around you. That response makes you smile, leaning up a little.
»Does that mean I‘m special?«
Bruce can‘t help but smirk at that, shifting to make you face him more.
»I guess you are, yes.«
His warm expression makes you contemplate wether or not this has something more to it, if you both just really good friends already or more. The tension in the room seems thicken, especially with how close you both are right now on the couch. The library falls into a comfortable silence again, this time with both of you staring at the other. You study his features, realising how much prettier he is from up close. From this proximity, you can barely make out the faint freckles across his cheeks, making you want to study him more and find out about all the other faint or small features he has, taking pride in seeing such details.
He also focuses on your face, the way your eyes flit around his face and are soft in the warm light of the room. His hand carefully cups your cheek, feeling the soft and warm skin under his palm. Without thinking, you lean into his hand, looking back into his eyes.
It almost feels magical and surreal how close you are to him, realising you are both about to get even closer. Your heart starts to pick up its pace, but you don‘t pull away. Bruce‘s thumb brushes against your cheekbone, his adam‘s apple bobs briefly before he leans in, seeing how willing you are to stay close and closer.
Eventually, your lips meet and it feels better than any cinematic movie could ever potray a romantic scene. The kiss lingers before you break it, but stay close, your noses barely brushing together.
He trails his hand from your cheek to the back of your head, threading his fingers into your hair.
»Please tell me you wanted this just as much as me.« His voice is quite, careful. Warm.
»Genuinely? From the moment you invited me to your library.«
He smiles at your response, freely with his perfect teeth showing. Without further discussion, he presses his lips against yours again, making sure to be gentle, as if he could break you by being too harsh.
You tremble lightly in his arms, too enrupted by the sensation of the soft kisses to care about anything else. Getting the courage, you wrap your arms more around his neck and lean more into him, making him melt from the inside and become weak for you. You could do anything to him and he would happily let you. Is it a little too early to be so trusting? Maybe. Does he care or want to waste this time with you? Fuck no.
He sighs into the kiss and leans back further into the soft couch, making you follow and press yourself further against him. It becomes overwhelming, getting to sit properly on his lap, your hands on either side of his face, his hands resting contently at your thighs. And it happens.
You can‘t help it, you want – need friction from him, and buck your hips against him, earning a low groan from him.
His grip on your thighs tightens, breath starting to get shallow the longer you kiss. At his subtle reactions, you do that again, starting to grind lightly against him, your own breath growing heavier.
Bruce feels his head spin because of you, the way you are so eager to continue, to feel him more and to get more is making him fall even more for you. The fact alone that you are willing to trust him with your body is enough to get him going more, but he hates that you are both in his library at the moment and you are both nothing official yet.
He does what he thinks is logical and wants to be the responsible from the two of you.
His hands grab onto your hips, stopping you from picking up the pace or apply more pressure against him.
»Hey, easy… easy, we have all the time in the world, just...« He sighs out, loosening his grip on your hips once you simply sit on him.
»Did I do something wrong?«
You panic and look him over to see if you hurt him or made him uncomfortable.
»No! No, no, no, you never did anything wrong, I just… I don‘t want this to be our first time.«
As soon as he drops those words, you slump your full weight on him, slightly confused and disappointed.
»I just want you to have something better than having it in my damn library. You deserve more than that. It needs to be special.«
His hands settle on your waist, his hair slightly tousled and face flushed, chest heaving lightly as he catches his breath, but still feels breathless because of you.
You stay quiet for another moment, processing his words. It‘s difficult to do so, that sight in front of you is making you feral but he doesn‘t want to do anything more because… he wants to treat you better?
Now you are really starting to wonder if he is real. There is no way someone would be nice enough to actually stop making out before it escalates, just because he wants to make it special in another time.
»Oh… okay, then. I won‘t force you anyway.«
You shrug lightly, feeling disappointed. But you would hate to force him to something more. Bruce seems glad you agree on it so easily and lets his hands trail up and down your sides more until he sets you down beside him, a shit-eating grin on his face.
»Sorry for cock-blocking you, dear.«
He murmurs into your ear, making you flush and groan, elbowing his side annoyed; all the while he laughs amused.

Imagine Yaoshi x Reader x Nanook. With how they act in lores and how there is not much canon information about the personalities + encounters or interactions yet. My brain already has so much ideas about what's gonna happen if we put them both together :)
pairing: nanook x gn!reader x yaoshi (general relationship hcs)
word count: 785
warnings: possible spoilers for hsr !! involves xianzhou stuff iykyk
a/n: it's the way that i knew this would be a request- also this got long i apologize HAHSHSHH
Tumblr media
First off, congrats. I have no idea how you managed to coerce these two into sharing because the last thing either wanted was to share something with the other.
Compromise is absolutely fundamental in this relationship. Yaoshi and Nanook are Aeons whose ideologies are in direct conflict, and you'll have to act as their middle ground. Arguments aren't common (they both believe that they're above such petty disputes), but in the beginning of the relationship, the tension was undeniable.
Nanook firmly believes that civilization was a mistake, and neither Yaoshi nor you can change that. Yaoshi can pout and give Nanook the look all they want, but nothing is stopping Nanook from bringing planet after planet down.
Likewise, Yaoshi's gifts of immortality, along with their side effects of mara, tend to irk Nanook, only furthering their belief that destruction was the only salvation left for the universe (Yaoshi would continue to assert that the mara wasn't their fault).
But when you come into the picture, you force them to put their differences aside - because if there's one thing that the two of them can agree on, it's you. If it's for you, they're willing to push aside their ongoing war with one another. If it's you, they'll ignore the fact that they openly hated the other.
Yaoshi thought that such a cold being as Nanook wasn't deserving of a partner such as you. Nanook didn't love or embrace you like Yaoshi did, didn't cradle and pamper you like the Abundance.
As a result, Yaoshi loved to remind them of their negligence, although now, it's more of a playful jest if anything. They'd whine about how Nanook was barely home, despite Yaoshi constantly being on the run themselves, and the fact that as Aeons, they don't have a set "home".
For the most part, Nanook was unbothered by Yaoshi's remarks, with the most coming out of them being a roll of the eyes. They didn't care how their affection may have come across, the only thing mattering to them was that you were safe and happy.
The two of them used to fight over you all the time - Nanook would often snatch you right off of Yaoshi's lap, and Yaoshi would refuse to hand you over. But soon, they learned to tolerate the other's existence, and eventually that tolerance would turn into a begrudging adoration.
In this relationship, Yaoshi is inertly more affectionate (and possessive) than Nanook is. Nanook isn't... They're not exactly in tune with desires of any kind, much less the kind that comes with a romantic relationship. Yaoshi, on the other hand, is an empathetic soul who loves and sympathizes with creatures from all walks of life.
Yaoshi coddles you, and makes sure that not only are you loved, but that you feel loved. They are gentle and tender with you, often playing with your hands or hair, and pressing kisses wherever they can. They sing you praises to their Disciples and the Denizens, who adore you just as much as their Aeon.
On the other hand, Nanook's "love", if you could even call it that, comes in the form of protection. The Antimatter Legion, when they're not wreaking havoc upon other planets, become your personal bodyguards. Yaoshi in particular takes advantage of this, often using the Legion to fend off any Xianzhou ships looking to hunt them down.
But this isn't to say that Nanook doesn't have their moments. When they manage to pry you away from Yaoshi's arms, Nanook likes to hold you as they go about their business. You'd be laying in their arms, pressed against their chest as you watch the destruction of a planet as you would a movie. Rarely are any words said in these moments, but they are just as intimate as Yaoshi's affections.
The universe knows you as the Mediator, the tamer of the two most hated Aeons in the universe. Being the significant other of not one, but two Aeons certainly comes with its benefits - and that being that practically nothing can touch you. There are some who feel pity for you, others who envy you.
But there are also those such as the Aeon Xipe who are grateful for your existence, for you are responsible for keeping Yaoshi and Nanook in check. In Xipe's eyes, if such opposing Aeons as Yaoshi and Nanook can work in tandem, then there is hope for a unified universe.
All in all, this relationship can only work if each member puts forth the effort to make it work. It's rocky in the beginning, even more so than others, and requires so much more patience. But if you can manage to pull through, the rewards are sweeter than any fruit.

Thoughts on Veilguard
TLDR: If empty calories were a video game it would be Dragon Age: The Veilguard. The game is a pleasant enough - if generic and unremarkable - action RPG that basically abandons the themes and feel of the previous games, resulting in a bland story that largely avoids dealing with anything that might remotely cause conflict in the party or force the player to consider anything other than surface level good-bad morality.
If this is the direction they're taking DA, then I think I'm done with the franchise. If I wanted a generic, thematically uninteresting, action RPG there are so many other games to play.
Spoilers in my detailed thoughts below
The good:
It looks very nice - I wish I could have spent even more time exploring the world areas.
Very few bugs or technical issues unlike Andromeda (or most new games in general). I had a few minor issues near the end but overall was very impressed.
Manfred and Assan are great secondary companions. If anyone knows where to find a skeleton and/or griffon friend please let me know.
I quite like Emmerich, Davrin and Bellara and romanced the latter two and (Generally) really liked both. Disclaimer: I tend to have different tastes than the majority of DA fandom when it comes to romances. I expected to have mixed feelings on Bellara because of my issues with Bioware and their cutesy awkward naive/inexperienced female characters but I thought they (mostly) got her right.
Some interesting lore stuff, though I quibble with how it was delivered at times. Still was fun to get a lot more info on the Evanuris, Solas, Mythal, the Titans, etc. And there's also some fun lore stuff in the codices, although again I question whether that's the best way to deliver them.
The final mission is a lot of fun and the clear standout quest other than Weisshaupt maybe. Both are a lot of fun and combine multiple story elements with good gameplay for a satisfying experience.
Combat is engaging although it does get repetitive once you "solve" it. I did a lot of grinding to complete content though so that might be my fault.
Solas is very Solas-y in the game and the highlight of the antagonists by far. I wish there had been more of him and I say that as someone who finds the Solas fandom somewhat exhausting at times. He was far more interesting and compelling than the "even-worse" gods and the fact he's a fuck up who keeps making things worse because he's an egotistical fuck-up who thinks he's the only one that can fix things was is both tragic and fun.
Neve-Lucanis and Taash-Harding are both very cute. I actually think they might be my favorite companion romances off the top of my head (Tali-Garrus does absolutely nothing for me, and I don't even romance either character with my Shepard).
The not good
Why is the Inquisitor wearing pajamas.
Bioware can fuck off for making me pop about a zillion blight pimples. It's really not that much fun after the first 1000
Extremely disappointed with how sanitized the narrative is. There's little attention paid to major facets of the DA universe that are directly relevant to the plot (religion, Tevinter slavery, racism toward elves etc.) and you also get stuff like the Crows now being far lighter of an organization than they were previously.
Just as an example - both Davrin and Bellara touch on what it means to have their gods be the villains but they're just topics for conversation and there's no meaningful impact (especially as the bad guys rely on Antaam and Venatori forces - oh and generic mercenaries). The Dalish are just there (or victims of the bad guys) for the most part. I've read comments from Bioware that confirm this but it seemed obvious Bioware wrote themselves into a corner with making Elven gods be the main antagonists, as you then run into the issue of having the elves not only already be a persecuted minority but also be worshipping evil gods - but instead of writing around it they just avoided dealing with it and acted like it's just the Dalish getting a big win by not joining them.
Speaking of enemies, lots of bland dialogue from the non-Solas big bads. And the Venatori/Antaam/mercenaries gave off major "Cerberus in ME3" vibes - nameless, faceless goons thrown at you in waves that got very boring very quickly.
The way a companion gets hardened because of a choice early in the game is mostly meaningless unless you wanted to romance them. People getting mad about that happening are being ridiculous - if anything the game is too afraid (as usual) to have it actual matter beyond them briefly being upset before moving on.
One of the big choices is to decide whether to protect Treviso or Minrathous when both are attacked by dragons, but it happens so early you might lock yourself out of quests without realizing it. Worse, the ensuing mission is incredibly short and boring (basically a couple of packs of generic enemies and then a very brief dragon fight)
Why is the Inqusitor wearing pajamas.
Why can't I be a mean/"bad" Rook? Even the jokey responses feel super tame compared to previous DAs (let alone the borderline assholish purple hawke). Basically you're only allowed to be slightly different variations of a heroic figure.
While the companions are all nice they all top out at "I like them", with none matching the story or emotional peaks of previous Bioware games. Emmerich comes closest (especially if you account for Manfred) but there's just enough meat to him.
Disappointing romances compared to previous Bioware games(especially but not limited to Lucanis.). Not a ton of depth dialogue wise and at times it feels like they put more time into the companion romance than the Rook version (this time I am definitely talking about Lucanis).
Speaking of which, Lucanis was the biggest disappointment of the companions. I didn't want a Zevran clone but you have a hardened assassin possessed by a demon who (if you choose not to save Treviso, which cuts off a lot of his content) just drinks coffee and likes Neve and uh....
Completely forgettable soundtrack which is a major bummer after previous installments. Also, while I didn't have many technical issues, the music not always playing was one of them (although maybe it doesn't really matter given the lack of quality!)
Bad to horrendous incorporation of previous DA story which was also incongruous with the general tone, especially with the handling of the Inquisitor and the treatment of southern Thedas (especially if you get the Emmerich and Harding picnic conversation at an awkward time like I did.)
Lots of disappointing cameos but especially from my Pirate Queen/Wife from DA2. Isabela's hat is indeed very nice but what is that outfit? And I get they didn't want to deal with too complex a world state but man was it a bummer to see her basically reset after everything her and Hawke went through in my main DA2 playthrough.
Why is the Inquisitor wearing pajamas.
What did they do with Harding? Why did she basically get Dagna's story, even if Titan lore is interesting? She's such a nothing character in this game which is such a weird choice given that she's clearly there because they know fans like her.
The "Actually Varric was dead all along" did nothing for me. He barely shows up in game anyway and the weird framing of every appearance and the fact no one other than Rook ever interacts with him gave it away (at least partially)

Here we go, in no particular order, here are some of my thoughts on what we'll see in the next year or two based on the election results:
THE ECONOMY
Unless something pretty serious happens, it's very likely that Trump will make good on his promise of massive tariffs on all American imports. Given that we import a lot of stuff from the rest of the world (check any manufactured item in your house, I'll bet it doesn't say "made in America"), that means prices will likely increase substantially. The predictable result of that is probably a pullback of consumer spending and a recession. If we're really unlucky, we'll have inflation and a recession at the same time, the dreaded "stagflation".
More broadly, it's likely that the only thing Republicans will do economically in terms of legislation is pass a massive, deficit financed tax cut for the rich. Again. Honestly, this is an easy one to guess because it's what they do every time they have power. It's direct effect will probably be minimal (though any effect is likely to be inflationary) although it remains an open question how long the US can run up the credit card without any major economic consequences.
We're also likely to see a wave of deregulation. Expect the new administration to try to roll back all of the consumer protections that Biden has put in place, end the lawsuits against big corporations that are exploiting their market power, and generally tilt the playing field back in favor of big corporations and wealthy people.
Oh yes, and let's talk about the immigration thing here. Trump is promising to deport millions of illegal immigrants (by current estimates there are about 11 million of them). And, look, I'm not a professional economist, but I think it's reasonably easy to guess what happens when you remove millions of people of working age from the labor pool. Again, this is likely to be inflationary (less workers available, so pay and, thus, costs, go up) and recessionary (fewer consumers buying things) at the same time.
PUBLIC HEALTH
With a knowledgeable public health expert like RFK Jr. leading the government's public health efforts, what could possibly go wr… sorry, couldn't finish that with a straight face. Yeah, Trump's gone off the deep end public health-wise ever since the public health people kept pointing out how badly he was screwing up his last major public health emergency, so now he's only listening to quacks and nut jobs.
The odds are pretty good that vaccines are on the target list and the administration will reduce or eliminate programs that encourage them. It's a good bet that, in the next decade or so, we'll see a resurgence of diseases like measles and polio that we thought we'd eradicated. Of course, if we get another pandemic like Covid, I'd bet on a high body count and massive economic impact as well.
We're also likely to see more and more women dying due to pregnancy-related complications. Biden was pushing hard to enforce a federal law that requires hospitals to save women's lives, but it's doubtful that Trump will keep doing that. He'll also likely not enforce any other protections and allow even stronger crackdowns on abortion in states that are eager to do so.
MINORITIES
If you're not a straight, white, cisgender, Christian man, things are likely to get a lot worse for you over the next four years. Look for the administration to take every opportunity to attack gay and trans people and to promote Christianity over other beliefs. The Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice is also likely to be neutered, as it has been under every Republican administration since at least Reagan, so many states will happily violate the rights of racial minorities without any federal pushback. The same is true of laws and regulations that protect women.
Beyond the official, though, we also have to face the societal effects of another Trump Presidency. Despite the loud protestations of his supporters, Trump is beloved among the racist far-right, and for good reason. His administration borrowed heavily from their ideas and their language and even used their personnel and there's no reason to expect a second term to be any different. There is a reason that right-wing terror surged in our country in Trump's first term and it'll probably do the same now.
Expect more shootings of black and brown people and more attacks on Jews and Jewish places of worship. The racists believe the President is on their side and he's given them no reason to think otherwise.
THE NEXT ELECTION
All right, I'm going out on a limb here and this is my longest range projection, but it's a fairly reasonable bet that Democrats will take/retake the House of Representatives in 2026. I can confidently predict this because the party that controls the presidency has lost House seats in nearly every election since the Great Depression. Based on current results (which may change as western states count more votes), the Republicans will have a 4 vote margin in the House and the average midterm loss is 27 seats. Heck, they lost 47 seats in 2018 the last time Trump was in office. Even the Democrats who had a good year in 2022 still lost 10 seats. Seems like a pretty good bet.
As for the Senate, that's a bit harder to predict. At the moment, Republicans will have anywhere from 52 to 54 seats when all the votes are counted from this election. Based on the 2020 Senate elections map (that's the class of Senators that will be up for re-election in 2026), I'd count anywhere from 2-4 seats that the Democrats might be able to flip, the rest are probably safe. So is it possible that Democrats could retake the Senate in '26? Absolutely. Is it likely? Good question. Ask me in a year or so.
CONCLUSION
It's likely that life in America is going to get worse over the next year or two, how much worse depends a lot on how we react. At best, we'll likely face further inflation (every economic policy Trump has voiced support for is inflationary), increased sickness and disease, and increased attacks on the lives and well-beings of anyone who isn't a straight, white, cisgender, Christian man. At worst, well, all of those things but much more intense.
If we're fortunate, Democrats will take the House and serve as a much-needed check on the worst impulses of President-elect Trump. If not, at least the next election will likely do it, though a good deal of damage will be done between now and then.

I've been on vacation and I don't know if I've shared any of these ideas. I think they've mostly stuck to discord conversations. So I'm going to post them out here.
Number one thing. Blue Moon will exist in arcade in a more... Standard fashion. Arcade Eclipse. While technically looking exactly like Blue Moon and supposed to be blue moon. Isn't really Blue Moon. They are blue moons origin. They are what Blue Moon was supposed to be. Blue Moon evolved far past that. So I'm going to be making a new Blue Moon in Arcade! As cannibalistic and teenager/child-esk as possible. Now of course dimensional travel does not exist in arcade. Magic does though. And so can shitty parents. I'm still working on this version. So I'm not sure what the new sporadic danger will be. But this is going to be based on after story Blue Moon a little bit. Where they are totally with crimple, and old lunar is a much bigger force.
Onward to objective number two. Which is something I've actually been holding on to for the Stardust arcade storyline. But vapor will be existing. Vapor still has a tragic ass backstory and suffers from abandonment issues. But they will exist. Hopefully I will get to the part where I explain their story at some point. As they will be fading out of Stardust arcade once I introduced them. But the basic is. Vapors smoke still does stuff. But it's more out of a magic-y panic. Vapor wasn't forgotten because of some star juice magic. But instead just because the company was being an ass and told everybody he was dead when he wasn't. Wondering around thinking is abandoned until the Stardust storyline catches up to him.
Another thing! Again to be introduced in Stardust. Sundown, Sköll, Leiðr, code Moon, are all existing. They will be introduced in Sundown for a small scene. Sundowns entire little town is also coming with. And also. For those of you who were really confused about that one post where I talked about how relationships are going by my own arcade rules now. Sundown and Sköll are a thing.
Also! The sulky star cluster. They are also being moved over because I fucking love them. Stories are remaining mostly the same except doled down, and singular worlds are just establishments. I still haven't quite settled on the biker gang concept. But they are leaning that direction. Where they are basically a gang of delinquents that wander around and just kind of do shit. They have a Hangout spot at Sundowns. Also to be introduced in Stardust.
Another thing. I have been calling this thing the Neptune pack. But it is essentially a pack of blood moons run by a leader. They are going to be a bunch of hyenas. Might play a part with vapor. But either way they are going to be a group of aggressive fighting robots. Only held together by what I can only describe as a gang leader. It's an interesting concept and it will be coming soon.
Another thing. I have been thinking of honey and cider. I'm currently caught between doing a similar thing that happened in sulky star cluster. Or trying to figure out what happened to their singular establishment that would lead to the same results as cannon. Might do a bit of both. But they will be coming. Although I think they will also be separated like it's tough to be a god AU. As their interactions have been quite sparse.
Last thing that is not related to arcade. I have come up with this concept of a clockwork sun, and shipwrecked moon. I have been listing off little scenarios in a discord. And I will definitely make a separate post for them. I'm just not going to post the whole idea here because this is mostly around arcade. But this little silly scenario is currently in the works.
Anyways I think that's everything I thought about over the vacation. Have a nice fun time reading this because I'm not actually going to write a shortened version until I have these figured out all the way. Toodles.

I saw an ask about whether you could do a remake of F/SN in the style of FF7R and I agreed with the responder's take on the matter but I wanted to bring my own two cents in, because a lot of people when they think of "sequel", they think of the kind of sequel like Shrek 2 for instance. Mechanical sequels, where one follows directly after the other in terms of time and plot. Shrek 2 happens after Shrek 1. It's simple stuff, and this makes the vast majority of sequels.
Rarely however do we talk about thematic sequels, and I don't mean the idea of a spiritual successor (although, personally, some do count). Often times a spiritual successor is not in direct conversation with its predecessors, but often fits in a more referential or sometimes even reverent position. Many times spiritual successors aren't even in the same franchise; this is how you get games like, for example, Signalis. For an example of what I mean, let's look at the Silent Hill trilogy.
OH YEAH BABY ITS THE FUCK BLOOBER TIME OF THE POST but no really, Silent Hill 2 is often not considered a sequel at all, it's often considered a standalone entry into its franchise and while there is a lot to be understood and appreciated from the game by itself, it's not meant to be standalone. There's a 2 there. It's in direct conversation with Silent Hill 1. Part of why Silent Hill 2 worked so well for so many people is the fact that James' journey has a twist to it. It mirrors Harry's for quite a long time on purpose, before revealing that this was a trick!
Silent Hill 3, while being a mechanical sequel to Silent Hill 1, also does this. It sets itself up where it seems like its going to follow the same path as Silent Hill 2, playing along the lines of guilt, before nope! Sike! It's Silent Hill 1 baby, except we're not here to feel guilty, it's time to get revenge and end the nightmare and kill God. It's a trilogy, and the works complete each other more when combined with each other.
Fate/Stay Night is a lot like that. It's a bit more obvious in terms of what it's going for in that it is one work instead of three, but given the amount of discussions about which route is canon and what not I assume a lot of people missed it. This is why Hollow Ataraxia is the way it is. Which route is canon? Fate/Stay Night is canon, because these are NOT three standalone routes that can be enjoyed separately. They have their own merits, but they're meant to be interpreted as a package, which I understand is hard this game is really fucking long y'all.
The game disguises this by having the routes branch from each other in a pretty similar way to a normal visual novel, and presents them as a result of your choices rather than as a cohesive unit. The game also does kind of giveaway the game though by not letting you play the UBW route (with one very minor exception that leads to a bad end) or the Heaven's Feel route early. There's an order to these, you must stick with it.
These routes are, obviously speaking, thematic sequels. There's no need for the Heaven's Feel route to rehash the character development that Shirou receives in the Fate route or in the UBW route. The game knows you've read those already, and its coming in with a baseline assumption of who Shirou is. The Shirou as Heaven's Feel begins and establishes its hold over the narrative is a lot closer to the Shirou at the end of UBW than it is the Shirou at the beginning of the Fate route. We aren't grappling with Shirou's realization of self, because he's already gone through that, we need to test his ideals now and make him realize that there are things and people more important than his dream.
The three routes together represent Shirou's journey as a hero, his hero's journey if you will, and how his ideals mature and his image as a person is forged. He comes out of Heaven's Feel complete, almost as if he's lived through three different versions of those I think 20 days it's been a bit, and maybe its only through the medium of a visual novel and its mechanical framework that this journey can even be completed.
You can't make an FF7R style remake of F/SN, because F/SN is already that. It's already got two similarly styled sequels built into itself, and it even has the wacky sequel already done in Hollow Ataraxia.

Okay so the results are in and Jackie won so, here it is. I changed the summary a little from what I said on the voting thing but I hope you guys still like it anyway :)
Summary: Jackie gets drunk and gets into trouble at the celebratory party Lottie's hosting at her house for the team winning nationals and reader has to intervene.
And as an extra thing, incase idk, but Lottie's dad pays for a coach to take them to nationals instead (since I'm headcannoning in this it's cheaper, and low key a lot less dangerous cause yk).
Also skip anything that's in colour if you don't want to read any pretty detailed stuff.
Lastly, this is gonna have some homophobic slurs in (promise it's for a reason, although they do have a line through them), which I know can be a trigger for people, so please don't read it after seeing this and then complain I didn't put a TW, because I usually don't so this is a curtesy.

*****
It was all gonna be over soon, both the fans and the rest of the people in the small stadium knew something had to happen or it'd go to penalties.
You watched from your place on the bench (having been benched earlier in the game because of a shitty tackle), as in one swift move, Shauna tackled the ball from the opposing teams striker running far away from them before quickly approaching another player. She looked up as she heard Nat shouting her name from further up the pitch, before passing the ball to her.
Nat had control of the ball, running up the rest of the right wing to see Tai and Lottie keeping tabs on the other teams two defenders that were near the goal, and the team captain, Jackie, free of any other players, but keeping wary so she didn't go offside, running between the two of them toward the goal. Seeing no other defenders, Nat gave the ball a rough kick, causing it to fly across the sky, landing several feet in front of Jackie.
While continuing to run as hard as she could with the ball to get a closer shot on goal, Jackie heard the rest of the team, including yourself, and the fans cheering for her to kick the ball. Taking a deep breathe, she kicked the ball a couple feet away from her before she pulled her right leg back and swung it forward into the direction of the ball, but slipping just before the kick had fully been executed, causing her to fall, making her skid on the slightly muddy grass before rolling onto it just to the right side of the goal.
Everyone in the small stadium and on the pitch gasped watching this happen as the ball soared through the air, seeing it reach close to the goalie's hands that had spread out when she dived into the air. All of a sudden, the ball hit the back of the net, causing the stands to erupt with a round of applause, causing the girls and the fans from the other team to groan.
As soon as this has happened, and the referee blew the whistle for full time just afterwards, you screamed happily and threw the ice pack you had been using for your leg onto the ground, before running limply over to your girlfriend in her spot where she was now knelt in front of the goal, as a chorus of chanting came from the cheer team as the rest of the team came running over to her.
They'd done it, the Yellow Jacket's soccer team from the small town of Wiskayok, New Jersey, had won soccer nationals for the first time in school history. Once you had run over to and embraced your girlfriend in the biggest hug ever, the two of you were quickly surrounded by the rest of the team.
Once all of you had your fun and had loosened the tight group huddle, having shouted at each other about how awesome that was enough, and people started clearing out of the stadium and the pitch, the team broke off into smaller groups starting to talk amongst themselves, leaving the two of you and a few of the others on the team talking in your small gatherings.
"You better be good a keeping your promises, Taylor." You stated to your girlfriend, holding her head softly in your hands.
"Oh baby, you know I never break a promise and I always keep my word." Jackie answered, smiling sweetly. Fuck, how you loved that smile of hers.
"You better." You replied, as the she smiled in response and you leaned in, still holding her head in your hands, and kissing her softly.
"Jesus Christ, get a room. Not everyone here wants to see you two making out." Someone behind you stated, causing both of you to pull away from the kiss and sigh softly, Jackie burying her head in the crook of your neck, blushing and giggling softly, knowing exactly who that was.
"Yeah thanks Van." You replied, remaining in your position on the field, putting your thumb up behind you, before waving her off and hearing the red head, and who you assumed to be Tai running off laughing about something else to join the others.
"C'mon," You said to Jackie, moving your legs around to stand up from being knelt on the short, prickly grass. "Let's get you cleaned up so we can head home." You added holding your hand out for her, as the blonde propped herself up on her knees rather then her previous position of also being knelt down, before taking your hand in hers, intertwining her fingers with yours, standing up and walking back locker room with the group.
-----
The two of you and the rest of the team headed back to the locker room, listening and singing along to music while showering and lightly washing some of the grass stains off of your guys' uniform and bodies, dancing in between doing that and getting changed to head back to New Jersey as winners. (I wasn't really sure on how to write this or the journey back, so I'm just gonna fast forward to the party)
-----
You (dressed in an oversized graphic comic t-shirt, black cuffed denim jeans, black leather jacket, black converse, chunky silver rings and matching silver heart necklace to Jackie's, with French braided hair, curtesy of Shauna) drove to Jackie's house and picked her up (dressed in a red mid-thigh flowy dress with white polka dots, blue denim jacket, a pair of white trainers, her gold heart necklace and neatly styled, flowy blonde hair) in your deep red Pontiac Firebird car, to drive both of you to Lottie's house, since her parents were out of town for the week, and to make up for them not being at the match let her have a party there if the team won.
Once you got there and parked up, the two of you headed inside to get a drink, greeted by Lottie and the rest of the gang trying to persuade Jackie to let her crowd surf them to celebrate, to which she declined, saying to wait until she was slightly less sober before doing that.
The 6 of you, the rest of the group (Laura Lee, Mari, Kristen, Akilah, Gen, etc), plus equipment manager, Misty (who you and Lottie had advised upon, and persuaded the rest of the group to let her be invited), started dancing and drinking inside, socialising amongst everybody there, being congratulated on the win.
Eventually, the few of you left (Mari, Kristen, Akilah, Gen, etc, either still inside or gone home) made your way outside and were gathered around yours and Shauna's car, discussing everything and anything.
After a while of talking, the group had turned to nicknames for everybody, since Van advised everybody to get one since we would be going down in the history books and should have a cool nickname. About halfway through this specific conversation, it was Jackie's turn for a nickname.
"How about 'Blue Flash'?" Laura Lee suggested, sipping on the liquid in the red plastic cup she was holding, standing between Misty and Lottie, in front of the backdoor of Shauna's car
"Mmmmm, nah." Most of you agreed.
"Sounds like a toilet cleaning brand." Nat replied, taking another hit of the joint she had rolled between her fingers, making everybody giggle.
"Haha, yeah," You said, laughing softly, "Plus we all wear blue, so it could be any of us." You added, which everyone acknowledged with some form of a nod.
"Ooooooh, I have one," Van interjected, leant against the passenger door of Shauna's car, all giddy off of her beer, "What about 'The Terminator'?" The red head suggested, causing everyone except Jackie to groan at the movie reference.
"Wait, which nerdy, sci-fi, film thing is that?" Jackie asked, sitting upon the bonnet of your car, taking a swig from the tequila bottle she was sharing with Tai and Lottie.
"It's the Arnold Schwarzenegger one with the sunglasses and the leather jacket." Shauna stated, finishing the last of her drink, while sitting on the bonnet of her car.
"Ohhhhh yeah, I remember that one. Continue." The blonde ushered, her voice echoing into the bottle.
"Do I even need to? I mean Jesus Christ, you're literally a machine, sorry Laura Lee." Van replied, apologising after. Getting a nod from the other blonde in acceptance.
"A machine, huh? Okay I'll take it." Jackie said, passing you the half bottle of tequila left, moving her feet around so they were lying on the bonnet, before standing up on it, prizing a remote from her jacket, pressing a button on it, making the music that'd been playing loud enough in the house for everyone outside to hear, to stop, causing everybody inside to groan and slowly make their way outside to see what's going on.
"What the hell are you doing? Get down from there, you're going to hurt yourself." You questioned, panicked, holding your arms out, ready to catch her if she slips.
"It's fine, I'm keeping my word, remember?" Jackie stated drunkenly, in a 'duh' tone.
"EXCUSE ME! HI, I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY!" The blonde yelled, waving her arms in the air trying to get everyone's attention, making everyone start cheering.
"YEAH OKAY, THANKS BUT WHAT I HAVE TO SAY ISN'T ABOUT THAT, SO SAVE THE SUCK UP FOR AFTERWARDS!" She shouted.
"HI THERE, SO THIS IS KIND OF SCARY NOW THAT I THINK ABOUT IT, AND I'M ONLY PROBABLY DOING THIS BECAUSE I'VE HAD A FAIR AMOUNT TO DRINK, BUT I MADE A PROMISE TO MY FRIENDS AND TEAM MATES DOWN HERE," Jackie stated, pointing at the group of you, making the 7 of you cover your faces and wave awkwardly, "THAT I'D DO THIS IF WE WON, AND WE DID SO YEAH, HERE GOES NOTHING!"
"Oh shit." You mumbled under your breath, shading your face with your hand, knowing what was about to happen.
"RIGHT SO, UM YEAH, I'M GAY. YOU ALL HEARD ME RIGHT, I'M A BIG, FAT, LADY LOVING, LESBO, AND I AM DATING THIS AWESOME GIRL RIGHT HERE!" She stated, proudly, gesturing to you, as you raised your hand, offering a small wave. "AND IF ANY OF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IT, THEN GO FUCK YOURSELVES OR YOU CAN TAKE IT UP WITH MY DAD! So yeah, that's it. You can clap now." She finished, playing the music again, quickly jumping down carefully from the car into your arms, turning to the rest of the group.
"How's that for being a machine?" Jackie slurred proudly, taking back the bottle from you, holding onto your forearms for support.
"You're fucking crazy." You stated, kissing her softly.
"Told you I never break my promise." The blonde replied, after breaking the kiss.
"Alright," Tai said, raising her cup in the air, "Here's to all of us being openly gay and going down in history" She added, toasting her drink, as the rest of the group cheered and did the same.
Just as you all toasted to that, and drank from your cup/bottle of choice, you heard a familiar voice behind you.
"Well, well, well, if it isn't the dyke squad." Brad, the captain of the school football team, said, approaching the group, causing you all to roll your eyes in an attempt to ignore his arrogance.
"I mean, I expected the rest of you guys to be gay, but jesus christ, Y/N even turned prissy rich princess, Jackie Taylor, into a lesbo. I did not see that coming." Tommy, one of Brad's douchebag henchmen, spoke.
"Well you don't see a lot of things coming, especially people." You smirked, murmuring into the bottle of beer you were sipping on.
"What the fuck did you say!" Tommy shouted, striding up to you, getting all in your face.
"You fucking heard me, dipshit." You swore, smirking up at him, pushing him away harshly.
"Yeah, so back the fuck up, asshole." Jackie interjected, striding behind you, Van, Lottie, Tai and Nat following.
"Hey guys, come on, let's not do this here." Shauna piped up.
"Yeah, Shauna's right. Let's just call it a night and sort this out tomorrow." Laura Lee spoke up, trying to de-escalate the situation, before the six of you turned away from the two, walking back to the group.
"Yeah, listen to your little preacher friend and quit while your ahead, fags." Tommy replied, smugly.
"What the fuck did you call us?!" Jackie shouted, spinning on her heels, turning around and quickly pacing back over to them, you running after her, resting your arm around her waist.
"Hey it's okay, leave it, okay? Trust me." You said, looking at her softly.
"Yeah listen to your dykie queer, Taylor." Brad laughed.
Before even registering yourself what'd happened, Jackie broke away from your grasp, pulling her right fist back and punching him harshly around the face.
"Oh shit!" Jackie shouted, keeling over, holding her fist in her other hand at the pain of the impact.
"Bitch!" Brad fumed, holding his nose in his hands, feeling liquid pool over them.
"Crap, let's go." Tommy said, running off, Brad trailing after him.
"Oh my god!" You stated, rushing to Jackie, kneeling in front of her, the rest of the girls gathering around you.
"Son of a fuck!" She whined, raising her head softly to look at you, slightly off balanced from the alcohol.
"Here, let me look." You said, offering your hand out, as she placed her bruised fist in your hand, the group groaning at the site. "Can you open it for me?" You asked
"Jesus. H. Flaming. Christ." Jackie seethed, opening her sore, slightly blood-covered fist slowly, wincing at the pain.
"Yeah, that's definitely swollen, and very bruised." Misty piped up, being the only one with proper first aid training.
"Come on, get your ass inside. The party's starting to clear out anyway" Lottie piped up, "There's ice packs in the fridge and a first aid kit down the hall, use my room."
"Are you sure?" You asked, wanting to confirm it was okay, just in case.
"Yeah go for it, I honestly don't care. Plus, my parents aren't back for another week, that'll give me more then enough time to clean up." The brunette said, waving you off.
"Okay thanks, cheers Lottie. The rest of you guys get home, sober up and we'll talk tomorrow or something." Jackie stated, standing up straight, still holding her fist in her hand.
"Come on Cinderella, your carriage awaits." You said, opening your arms out, scooping her up and holding her in them, tucking one arm around her back, the other under her knees, making sure the skirt of her dress wasn't flapping around.
You carried her through the near empty house, gathering the ice packs and the bandages from their respected places, traipsing up the stairs with Jackie in your arms, to Lottie's room, setting her down on the edge of the bed, kneeling in front of her.
"You can't keep scaring the shit out of me like that, you're gonna give me a heart attack." You laughed, bandaging her knuckles softly.
"I know, but it's just such a pain in the ass that people think they can treat you like that. And not just you I mean everyone, why do people think they have the right to shout slurs at others just because they're slightly different to everyone else." Jackie vented, grasping tightly and releasing her other hand, to calm herself down.
"I don't know, pig-headedness I guess, or a nicer way of putting it, arrogance, or a less nice way of putting it, assholery." You shrugged off, finishing bandaging her hand, smoothing it off and kissing it softly. "But you can't go around punching people okay? We're adults now, and that's assault." You added.
"Yeah I know, still pretty cool though. I mean, like in the movies it is, but fuck they don't warn you how much it hurts." The blonde winced at the memory of the pain.
"True, but it's cause you had your thumb on the inside. You wanna punch someone really hard, you wrap your thumb around the outside, so the impact of the punch and having it on the inside could shatter your thumb." You stated, wrapping your own thumb around your hand, punching the palm of your other hand, giving off a loud smack.
"See?" You asked, flexing your hand, "No red marks and it didn't hurt."
"Ohhhhhh, that makes sense." She stated, "Although I wasn't really worried about hurting my hand, was more living up to my nickname then anything else." She added.
"Oh so you were trying to be my own person terminator or something?" You questioned, chuckling softly.
"Exactly like that. Your own personal terminator." Jackie giggled, looking at you softly.
"Well personally, I thought that was very sexy of you." You stated, leaning in closely.
"Oh did you now?" The blonde stated, leaning in closer, giggling softly.
"Mhm, very sexy, and you didn't even break a nail." You added, before closing the gap and kissing her deeply.
"I love you." She said, holding your head in her hands.
"I love you too." You replied, resting your hands over hers.

Jesus Christ, it's finally done. This honestly took longer then expected and having no internet for 3 days really put a wrench in the works, but it's done and I hope you liked it. See you in the next one.

A request for something a little different than usual 🍑👑
Progress stuff below:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I haven't done progress shots in a bit and I think it's something I want to do more often because I like talking and blogging I guess haha.
Now that I have more experience illustrating digitally, this kind of direct reference drawing is MUCH easier to do digitally 😫honestly this felt like a self imposed challenge lol. BUT I did want to do some more traditional stuff because I feel that I had been doing a little too much digital, if that makes sense. It's nice to play with my markers and color pencils once in a while too!!
Doing the line art on this piece ESPECIALLY felt easier to do traditionally than digitally. For some reason, trying to do line art on a tablet screen feels too smooth or slippery or something. Lining traditionally feels easier, probably because I put so much pressure on the paper in the sketch phase that when the lining phase comes next, it feels like I'm just following the lines on the page like a train on a track ^_^
despite uploading a couple of illustrations colored with marker now, I still feel a bit like a novice when it comes to marker. I got a new pack of markers that I wanted to play with, which was even more motivation to return to paper for a bit. But honestly, I feel like I fudged the window color blending. I watched tutorials and stuff on blending with markers but I guess I still need more practice ^^;;; at least it looks a bit messy to me. This is how this piece came to be a mixed media illustration, since I tried using color pencils to make that transition from blue to green on the windows a little smoother.
I think the pot holding the piranha plant came out a tad too saturated and it's calling too much attention compared to the very light floor and dresser. I was trying to follow the colors on the reference closely as an easy re-intro to traditional art, but next time I do something like this, I think I'll take more liberties with color and see what happens.
Overall, I'm quite happy with how Peach turned out. I don't draw humans too often since I typically draw Sonic characters lol. Sometimes it feels like I have to re-teach myself to draw people as a result. I really liked using the gelly roll for the highlights on her face and the polka dots on her shirt :3 I highly recommend using that pen as my previous experiences with other white gel pens don't compare to this one (not to sound like a commercial I'm just really happy it worked as well as it did!).
And finally, although redrawing a creation from a dress up game screenshot is probably not the most imaginative exercise I could be doing with illustration, I think it's fun and it's pushing me to do things outside of my comfort zone. I'm using new art tools (I'll get better with marker I prommy) and I drew a background! I'd like to do more backgrounds like this as a practice to encourage more original stuff. Maybe. One day. Probably.
If you read all of this until the end, thank you! Have a wonderful day, and thank you for following me and supporting my art :3c 💝

Damaged Doll: Ch12
Summary: Angeal and Zack discover a man in all black trapped under boulders in the mountains near Icicle Village: Cloud, a doll created by Jenova for reasons currently unknown.
Cloud's mystery is beginning to shatter.
Inspired by the prompt by @im-totally-not-an-alien
Please Enjoy!
Chapter 13: A Change of Scenery
Genesis listened with a nearly satisfied expression. Finally, Sephiroth regained his legendary control. Finally, his friend started to see how right he was.
“Look at me,” Sephiroth's stern voice was music to his ears.
“SOLDIER First Class: Genesis Rhapsodos.” That voice was not.
“What do you want, Turk? Despite my looks, I am quite busy.”
“Sephiroth can handle the interrogation.”
Mako eyes met brown ones sharply.
“We've been summoned to secure payload transport. Hollander’s orders. It's landing soon. No time for negotiation.”
“Why do they want a First?”
“The payload is highly classified.”
Genesis nearly groaned. “Which means highly valuable. Are you sure you can't get Angeal to do this?”
“He's on a mission with Zack. We can talk on the way.” She nudged her head toward the hallway. Genesis reluctantly followed. With Hollander’s new found role, there was no telling what kind of punishments could result from direct disobedience.
“Why couldn't Sephiroth do this again?” He asked for the first time, very much reminded of Hojo from his own train of thought.
“Hollander specifically requested Sephiroth not be involved. And the more answers he gets out of Cloud, the better.”
Genesis silenced as he tried to understand the reasoning behind that.
At the peak of Shinra HQ, the helicopter had already landed, security clearing the way for the mighty vessel. Scientists waited at the ready, Doctor Hollander bearing a grin similar to that of Hojo before it even hit the ground.
Genesis couldn’t help his expression of disgust, although he certainly did not try to hide it.
“I have a question for you.”
“I'm not exactly here for small talk, Turk.”
“Neither am I. What do you know about Cloud?”
Mako blues turned to ice. “Why.”
“Hojo initially assigned me to teach him about the modern world. But I think he's hiding things from me.”
Genesis scoffed in agreement. “Of course he is. What do you want to know?”
“What is he writing in that book?”
“Supposedly, his origins.”
As the payload moved into the building, cylindrical case completely sealed as security followed, the SOLDIER and Turk far behind to observe any unwatched corners and entry ways.
She hummed, crossing her arms.
Genesis attempted to read her expression. “...That's not what he told you, was it?”
“It's none of your concern.”
“It is exactly my concern and do not pretend to hide information now. I want to know everything, and I’ll tell you anything you want to know. My friend, the fates are cruel.”
* * *
Cloud was warm. Comfortable. Safe. He wanted to stay perfectly still. He nearly purred under the sheet, adjusting within. The cold of the further section confused him. He slowly opened his eyes. Before him laid the empty medical room. He looked around, but no one remained.
His prince was gone.
Cloud looked down, slowly, sadly. Why didn’t his prince wake him? Was he still not trusted? Actually, that was logical. His prince questioned him and suddenly fell dormant. He didn’t have an explanation, but his prince was intelligent. Even while succumbing to the fogginess, his prince questioned him, accused him. Cloud exhaled. What would he do if-
A nurse knocked at his door while opening it quickly. “Oh, you’re awake. Good. You’ve been dispatched. Change, grab your stuff, and leave the gown behind. You’re free.”
His head tilted, not making a move. “Where am I going?”
“Your guardian is in the waiting room. They’ll take care of you. I believe you know the way.”
Cloud nodded. “I do. Thank you.”
“I’ll leave you to it. Don’t forget anything.” As swiftly as the nurse came, she vanished.
Cloud pushed himself off the bed and looked through the plastic bag filled with black leathers. His clothes. He was warned not to wear the pants until his leg healed and opted to only wear the coat, closing the zipper and latching the crossed straps in protection, it was finally time to return. He sighed again at the memory, glancing down at his permanently damaged leg.
Though he never learned how to repair the holes, his clothes felt perfect. He almost felt whole again. He grabbed the book and slipped it into the laptop bag the Turk gave him. He balanced the strap on the opposite shoulder of his injury before taking his cane and leaving the room for good.
Once reaching the waiting room, his heart soared once more. “My Prince.”
“Come with me,” Sephiroth’s words were still cold, but Cloud was too relieved to see him again so soon.
“Lead the way.” His gaze was shining and awed as he followed. He said no word unless spoken too. He simply enjoyed the content silence, the memory of an hour before, as they stood in the elevator. His prince did not approach him, never even looking in his direction. That was okay. Something told him it would be okay.
The doors dinged and they stepped into yet another reception area, though this one lacked the seating and decor. Sephiroth simply walked past the woman at the desk. Cloud followed, gaining a glance from the receptionist but nothing more. The Silver Soldier scanned his ID card and opened the door to another hallway, holding it for the blond before continuing to walk.
His prince did not slow down for him, and despite his best efforts, Cloud fell far behind. He tried to hide his breath as he struggled to follow. Thankfully, the hallway never bent. He never lost sight of the soldier. Sephiroth stopped at the final door on the left.
Holding a plastic piece to the lock, a beep and a click sounded before Sephiroth walked into the numbered door and waited.
A small part of Cloud expected a prison, an empty chamber to keep him in until all his prince's questions were answered. But upon entering, he was confused. There was a couch, a cushioned chair, a coffee table, bookshelves, a television, a display stand for a massive weapon, and a kitchen on the opposite side. Instead of darkness stood floor to ceiling windows allowing the mako glow of many reactors to fill the large area.
“Forgive my intrusion, but where are we, Sephiroth?”
He closed and locked the entrance. “Sit down.”
Cloud moved without thinking, placing his bag on the floor near his feet but keeping a loose grip on his cane.
Sephiroth sighed before explaining, not daring to look at the man on his couch, “This is my apartment. I want to keep an eye on you and I'm tired of scheduling around the whims of medical and the labs.”
Cat-like eyes widened. “Sephiroth, I couldn't possibly-”
“You will stay here until I say otherwise. I'll have a copy of my fob tomorrow. You will come and go as you please.”
“I… I don't understand… I told you I killed Hojo but you aren't turning me in…?” Cloud regretted the question as soon as it left his mouth, but he needed to know. After all the pain it caused despite his best intentions, he couldn't hide the thought.
“...Forget about Hojo.” His words were icy and dark, directed at someone else.
The blond nodded, ending the subject. He knew he shouldn't be questioning his prince, but he was completely befuddled. “Why your apartment? I can adapt to any lodging. I don't want to intrude.”
Sephiroth sat in the chair with a deep sigh, eyes lowered and away. “There is an… ulterior motive.”
Cloud's head tilted at the innocent his prince spoke with.
“It's…” He adjusted, gripping his sleeve.
A pause passed. “...If you don't want me to know, I understand-”
“Can I ask something of you?”
The injured blond snapped to attention. “What do you need?”
“At ease. You're allowed to deny me if you do not wish to obey.”
Even the very idea Sephiroth suggested was unthinkable to Cloud, but Cloud did not mention it. “What is your request?”
Another awkward pause. Brushing a hand through silver hair. “I want to test something. And I need you to do it.”
To be useful to his prince? How could he ever say no? But why was his prince so hesitant? “I will do all I can.”
“You will answer honestly.” Sephiroth's sharp eyes met his twinkling ones. “I will not make you if you don't want to.”
“I understand. Please, what task do you have for me?”
Disappointment filled his gaze before his eyes closed and his head fell.
Cloud turned away, timid and hesitant, his hand tightening against the cold wood of his cane. “What else have I done wrong…?”
“...I need to test if…” Sephiroth inhaled sharply, dispelling his hesitation long enough to reveal his truth, “I need to see if your proximity has the same effect tonight.”
It took a moment before Cloud understood, not a single hint of judgment on his face. “I am at your service. Always.”
“I won't ask this again. Only tonight.”
Cloud nodded, though he did not believe the words to be true.
“Until then, I need to return to the SOLDIER floor. That book will be finished when I return. No lies. No half truths.”
Cloud winced but nodded again. “Understood.”
“Good.” He stood, and Cloud followed hesitantly. “Let me show you around.”
The man followed to the kitchen.
“The top two cabinets on the left have food. The fridge has cold water. Obviously you may use the bathroom on the right. Down that hallway is my room. You will not enter.”
It was spacious but so bare. Three chairs at a blank kitchen table. No trinkets. No spoils of victory. No memories. No… personality, as if this place was simply an extension of the lab. His prince deserved a palace but lived in emptiness.
Hojo deserved to die.
“You are free to make yourself comfortable while you write.”
“I cannot thank you enough, Sephiroth.” Cloud bowed, one arm across his chest and the other supporting his body with the cane. But his prince turned away. “Shall I contact you once it's ready?”
“No. I will return later. Then it's time. I want to know everything. Even that which you hid for my protection.”
Now it was Cloud's turn to look away. “...You have my word. I will not let you down.”

do u have any headcanons of felix ravinstill ? (who doesnt die!!!!!)
like his best friends, who he would marry, his kids, etc. etc.
A lot of people (2 whole people) have been telling me that Felix doesn't die lately, and my uno reverse card to you is that I actually believe that all of Snow's classmates probably die of untimely deaths so... It's not like Felix is getting preferential treatment just because he's my favorite!
Anyway, here's my attempt at walking around the grim reaper shaped elephant in the room:
Okay, in my oc fics (non-oc fic hc stuff in next paragraph), I do have him best friends with Festus and my oc, Artemisia whom he also marries. They have a kid named Diana whose character ranges from grumpy, passive defeatist (probably complicit in lesbian situationship's war crimes), realist trying to be an optimist (who poisons her lesbian situationship for attempting to commit war crimes), and future dictator of Panem (who wants to avenge her lesbian situationship) depending on the fic. Somehow, that last one is the result of a universe where Felix Ravinstill lives, so be careful what you wish for with me!
In my weird attempt to make my oc's canon complaint universe's fate mean something (RIP Artemisia Click dead before her time at age 4 in the tbosas canon according to me), Felix is probably friends with Festus still, but I don't think they become that close until later in the Academy unlike in my other verse.
Instead, Hilarius gets to be friends with Felix, because they can bond over being from very prestigious families. (I headcanon that a Heavensbee is the actual first president of Panem). This probably makes Felix tangentially friends with Pup Harrington and Vipsania Sickle (although they don't hang out as much bc I hc that Vipsania is friends with Livia, and Livia and Felix didn't get along as much as kids). I imagine that all the Academy kids are at least friendly acquaintances/school friends to some degree, so there's that too.
He's also friends with Arachne, because in my mind, everyone loves to talk shit with Arachne. You know you can always go to her to vent. Like, she's definitely also talking shit about you behind your back, but she's not really trying to hide it.
Um, marriage and kids, huh? Wow, it looks like I can't see you past this giant elephant with a scythe that's in the middle of the room. Oh no! It looks like my cursor is creeping towards the "Post now" button!
(In all honesty, having the entire Ravinstill family get absolutely destroyed from the War (that keeps the Districts under the Capitol), assassination attempts either directed at them or the President, or as collateral in Snow's rise to power, speaks to me in showing that all the privilege that the Capitol enjoys within their corrupt system won't protect them in any real way. It compels me, and I can't remove myself from it without forcing Felix to probably endure other horrors to prove this point.)
Anyway, someone else asked for more Felix hcs in another ask, so I have to get to that! Thanks for this ask! Unfortunately, I am an angsty writer

Hi there! I hope you're having a nice day.
Little bit of a rant and a bid for advice, if you or your readers have any. I hope that's alright.
I'm currently writing a fic or maybe multiple fics (plot bunnies be running rampant in me brains) about a rarepair of two guys. I'm a bi woman and have basically zero social skills, so in order to properly understand other people's body language, I like to look up guides or articles about body language between two people, although I know those things are full of bullshit and don't mean anything, and it's hard to find articles for example about whether another woman's body language indicates interest in you if you're a woman yourself, but eh, they're still better than my brain which is usually like "eh, could mean this or that or this or that or this or that or- basically could be anything, I wouldn't know that lol, now I'm tired and will shut off, bye" aka useless as well.
The results I've found have been absolutely useless. I like writing characters in a slightly plausible-sounding way, so I like incorporating body language as in acting choices or subconscious body language (or whatever a proper term might be) in my writing to make it sound more in-character. So for stuff like this, I usually just think "ok what is that person's expression and if I do it, what would that indicate me to be feeling currently", and I don't know if other people do that or if that's just me being bad with social stuff and intuition about it again, and if I should really try to get re-evaluated for autism which I have been advised to think about doing multiple times in multiple direct and indirect implicative ways such as people being like "hey btw are you autistic? no? you sure?" or "I know you got a negative diagnosis as a kid, but maybe that was wrong and you might wanna do it again because of all your social struggles and sensory stuff etc.", heh. (Have been diagnosed with ADHD though, so that might also just be it.)
Sorry for the rambling. English isn't my first language, so if anything sounds strange, that's to blame.
My question or rather bid for advice is: I am wondering if you or your readers might have any advice on where to find resources for reading body language and romantic or sexual implications in body language between two parties, in this case between two guys.
(Hopefully this is not too nonsensical or insensitive or something like that because that's not my intention. I just really don't know how to human or if there actually is some difference on how different people of different genders flirt consciously or subconsciously or if that's some weird unnoticed transphobic bio-essentialism shit that I hadn't yet noticed and sorted out of my head because I don't want to be transphobic since that sucks.)
--
Weeell...
If people have links to guides, that's great, but I do think that in the context of fanfic, people often write flirting that they find sexy or they write whatever the canon style of interaction is and recontextualize it as how these particular guys flirt.
They're not usually thinking "What does flirting look like in general?" and then having the characters behave in a new way.
A lot of our interpretation of body language in written fiction has to do with information we get from the POV character about how they're feeling internally. For the non-POV character, we may have the POV character's thoughts on what the body language means, but we're generally interpreting it based on media cliches and based on knowing this is a ship fic.
So the other dude acts like he doesn't like our POV dude and the POV dude is like "Alas, my pining is unrequited!" and the audience goes "Ooooh, it's one of those fics!"
If the goal is writing certain types of fic, you may not need a guide to How People Really Act as much as one to How Fans Interpret Such and Such a Behavior from Canon as Subtext.

Working on Magical Friends: Doki’s animation “pipeline”
…Since this is still an incredibly basic 1.5-man operation, it’s not much of a pipeline. ^^; But I wanted to put together a little thing to show the public how I do what I do, and if this sounds doable or interesting to you, I’m always on the lookout for more volunteers! [email protected] is my official ‘art business’ email, just FYI~
So let’s start by taking a look at this GIF preview of a finished scene:
Tumblr media
I chose this sequence because it’s probably the longest and most complex one I’ve done so far. The character rotates, the scene pans up, I got some spinny light effects in there, lots of weird stuff I’ve never done before. (●u●;;) But it came out alright in the end, so let’s examine it.
So before I start thinking about animating, I refer to the work of my storyboard volunteer, Greytan. They actually gave me just one simple shot:
Tumblr media
Which I extrapolated into…what I did. ^^; I don’t mean to ‘ignore’ their boards, and I hope they don’t feel slighted when I do things like this, it’s just that they are genuinely a much more skilled and more professional animator than I am, and our brains just don’t work the same way so sometimes I have to diverge a bit. :P Or, y’know, sometimes I come up with a great idea of my own that I really wanna try, which is probably what happened here.
Anyway, my first step after looking at boards is to grab a pencil and paper and draw the shot: a picture that lays out what the scene will look like, with either the starting frame or a key frame, and the background included. As you can see, I doodled some of my ideas for how the sequence would progress, which is good, because after drawing this I wouldn’t return to this shot for like 6 weeks. ^^;
Tumblr media
When I finally did get back to it, I grabbed a second piece of paper for Step 2, which is the actual ‘animation’: using the shot as a base to draw the rest of the frames that will go into the sequence. This is where my lightbox comes in handy, although usually I can see through the paper well enough to just draw wherever. ^^ [Fun fact: in my early days, I would just scan the original shot, erase it, and replace it with the next frame, drawing each new frame on the exact same piece of paper. I am…very glad I don’t do this anymore]
Now, animation is mostly guesswork for me. ^^ I mean, my guesses are pretty good, but they’re still guesses, which is why I call myself an amateur. It’s not me downplaying my skills, it’s just me admitting that they aren’t based on solid expertise or experience (yet).
When I animate a shot, I try to make sure each frame looks like it has movement in it all by itself. Gesture drawing, dynamic posing; those are things I’m already good at, so when I animate I make ‘em work hard for me. >:3c
The end result comes out looking kind of like a sprite sheet:
Tumblr media
And I do use these drawings kind of like assets; Step 3 is to scan them (along with the initial shot) and use them to ‘construct’ the frames that go into the video editor. This is the step that takes the longest, where I clean up the sketches and color them and paint the backgrounds (separately, if necessary). It’s not as difficult as Steps 1 and 2, but it’s a lot more tedious.
So naturally, sometimes I like to make sure my sprites actually work before I start all that…work. ^^ So I throw together a test animation based on what I have:
Tumblr media
And this did help-- it assured me that the first half with Mago would probably look fine, although the second half with the magic light-thing probably needed to have a cleaner sense of direction and more frantic movement as it ascended. When you’re working with a low frame-rate, you generally want things to move a LOT or hardly at all; you don’t want any of that in-between stuff. So I took that into account when preparing the “finished” product. I put “finished” in quotes because I’ll probably adjust the timing of the frames a little when I move to the video editor (Step 4, which I’m not going to talk about here). But yeah, that’s pretty much it. ^^
Generally when I think about adding artists to the team, I’m thinking about them doing Step 1, Step 2, Steps 1 and 2, or Steps 1-3 (so basically, completing a full sequence of frames that I can just add in). For me to hand sketches to someone and expect them to do Step 3 alone would require a level of trust that I’ve never had in any fellow artist before…but idk, anything can happen in the future. ^^;

DREAMWATCH Issue #111 (2003)
As the revamped third year of the newly retitled STAR TREK:ENTERPRISE gets underway, DOMINIC KEATING offers his verdict on the season's opening episodes and tells dreamwatch what it's like to be Lieutenant Malcolm Reed in the middle of a struggle between the Xindi and the Enterprise crew. Words: Ian Spelling
REED ALERT!
Dominic Keating likes the new direction Enterprise is taking. Sending Captain Archer and the crew into the Delphic Expanse, adding commando-like troops known as MACOs to their number, introducing the mysterious Xindi, and increasing the action have resulted in what he feels is a better show, especially judging by season three's opening episode.
'I've been very, very pleased by all the changes and the results,' says Keating, who's back on board the Enterprise as Lieutenant Malcolm Reed. 'I thought our first episode back, The Xindi, was great. I probably shouldn't say this, but I'm not really a great fan of action, visual effects entertainment. It's not the sort of thing that generally floats my boat, to be honest. But I've got to tell you that I was really excited by The Xindi. I loved the incarnation of the foremen [Stephen McHattie] we encountered when we tried to find the Xindi prisoner. I thought he was an absolute revelation. When i went in to do the looping [audio recording] and saw what he'd done I called [co-creators/executive producers] Rick Berman and Brannon Braga and said, 'More of that, please!' The episode had fantastic sets and was beautifully lit and it kept me on the edge of my seat - and I knew what was going to happen.
'The second episode [Anomaly] wasn't quite as extraordinary, but for those who love visuals I thought some of the special effects - the coffee floating in the air, the warp drive fritzing and the electrical waves sparking out - were extraordinary. It was a nice episode for setting the audience up for the kinds of anomalies we're going to meet in this Delphic Expanse.
'Episode three is Extinction. That's a good show. We had a lot of fun making that,' he says, referring to the episode which sees Captain Archer, Hoshi and Reed transformed into members of an alien race. 'As actors, it was terrific to devise whole physical and vocal characteristics on the spot. It was quite a bonding experience for me, Scott [Bakula, Captain Archer] and Linda [Park, Hoshi]. I know there were some worries about how it was going to look, but I saw [director] LeVar Burton and he was very pleased. I haven't seen the final episode, but I think I'll like it. The make-up was murderous, mate, but I have to say it was very effective. I hated the prosthetics. I get very claustrophobic and have very sensitive Irish skin which doesn't like the solvents that take all the glue off. After five days my poor face looked like a blob. I look at [Phlox actor] John Billingsley with all new respect.
'So, all things considered, we're in good shape,' he notes. 'The ratings haven't been extraordinary, but they've been robust and healthy and better than they were, especially given that we don't enjoy a lot of promotion.'
Fighting Fit
Malcolm Reed hasn't changed much at all as a result of the revamp. He remains the same character who played key roles in the show's first season episodes Shuttlepod One and Two Days and Two Nights, and season two's Minefield, The Communicator, Singularity and The Crossing. And despite the introduction of the MACOs, Reed remains the ship's tactical officer and still likes to blow stuff up - although now he does get to blow more stuff up!
'I've had a lot more action and running around with guns and stuff since the changes were implemented,' he says. 'We're all there at Paramount more than we ever were. My workload has gone up exponentially. The days have been longer and I've had less time to pick up my dry cleaning, go to the gym, go to the bank and do other things. It's a lot of hours. And that's because it takes longer to do an action scene than a talking scene. There's more shooting involved. There are more camera moves. You shoot action scenes, usually, in smaller pieces and the scene is put together in the editing room.
'We're about to shoot an episode that's like a Western [North Star], and we're going over to the Universal backlot to do that one. But what I'm doing hasn't changed so much. It's not like they've overhauled Malcolm or taken him to another level. There's just been more for me to do. I think I have an episode coming up in which I'll be infiltrating the Xindi Council, so that should be fun.'
While the introduction of the MACOs initially looked set to be a continual source of conflict between Reed and their leader, Major Hayes [Steven Culp], Keating reports that the dispute has been downplayed during the new season's opening instalments. 'There is a little tension. I don't think Malcolm's particularly happy in some respects,' he explains. 'But I think professionally he understands that they need to be there.'
Naturally, Enterprise's overhaul has been widely interpreted as a sign that the show is in trouble. When asked if he felt the changes were necessary, Keating pauses for thought before responding.
'It probably was, all things said and done,' he admits. 'I do think that somewhere in the second season, out of the 26 episodes there were four or so that weren't very good. And it only takes four or so that aren't very good to cause a problem. Scott and I had a big conversation about this, and I don't mean to give myself any airs and graces, but we talked about the nature of episodic television and the challenge of wrapping up an episode each week neatly and happily within an hour's confines. That's tricky, particularly after so many years of writing Star Trek stories. So I think they were right to think of a season, at least, where each episode is joined and has an arc, so there's a story for the audience to follow. It's in the nature of 24, and ER has had major arcs at times that are like this.
'I think putting us in the Delphic Expanse and having us chase the Xindi is a clever move for keeping an audience interested. People don't mind missing an episode or two or even three if they know it's just a particular episode. But if they miss an episode in an arc of episodes that has a story that interests them and has got them on the edge of their chairs somewhat, then they're missing something any time they miss an episode. So, when you've got a high stakes arc, they'll be more inclined to make sure that they watch it. And, hopefully, they'll watch us.'
To Boldly Go On?
In the wake of Star Trek:Enterprise's revamp, Dominic Keating feels a renewed sense of enthusiasm about the show's future. He also reports that the mood on the show's set has lifted tremendously this season.
'I can't say there wasn't a kind of quicksand feeling for a while,' acknowledges the actor. 'I'm a bit of a worrier, definitely, and I got a little worried. The seven-year contract we signed was not as secure as it seemed when we signed it. I started thinking, "Bloody Hell!"
'I think we are going to run. I can't see Viacom letting this just dribble down the drain. I go to conventions and talk to the fans. There's such a groundswell of support for this show. Yeah, they bitch a bit about continuity and stuff that niggles them, but all in all if you ask them, "Do you want to have a show or don't you want to have a show?" they'd rather have a show.
'Right now, all of us on Enterprise are feeling OK. The [US] ratings for The Xindi matched the ratings for [second season finale] The Expanse. The ratings for the second episode were up there too. I don't want to get too much into the politics of the franchise and its relationship with the network because these are conversations I'm just not privy to. We just want to do the best work we can and hope people will tune us in.'

ROTTMNT OC INFO DUMP !!
BASIC INFO !! 2/???
Tumblr media
↓ NOW, FOR THE BASIC STUFF ↓
As I said: His name is Tanner Mayfield and he is 13 (in the first season) years old. His pronouns are they/he.
THEIR OCCUPATIONS: Despite Tanner being 13, therefore below the legal age to work- they are a supplier, somewhat of a delivery boy, a repossessor and sometimes a baker.
IN TERMS OF PERSONALITY:
FOR THE NEGATIVES:
— |★| Tanner is stubborn, as he often claims that he can go on missions on his own and sometimes refuses to back down until they get the job done.
— |☆| Although he also can be indecisive, at times, since his mind does swarm around with a lot of 'what if's' while making a choice. This could go from having to choose on what to eat to who to help first, since they are pretty busy and stuff- and if that choice does not accommodate those around him, liability rolls in him.
— |★| Okay, he can sometimes be a little selfish, especially if in a stressful situation, he would be looking to accommodate his own needs first. A decision which would be met with, once again- some form of guilt.
— |☆| So, with that information, he wants to make a choice that could at least benefit both him, along with the people around him. Tanner, can as well be pretty defensive when it comes to those that they consider allies, while at the same time firmly trying to excuse their own choices and actions.. and failing miserably sometimes, because they are also pretty inarticulate when It comes to wanting to justify something that he, or their allies around them did. Or maybe even being unable to explain small things such us, giving verbal directions to show someone on where to go. He may just add a couple of things that may, or may not be needed- all in hopes of not being misunderstood. But that's a bit irrelevant.
— |★| That is because Tanner, even though they try to see the best in those they deem as friends, if other people's suspects about said allies continues to grow, then Tanner may be influenced by those suspicions- which may or may not make him feel just a little bit cautious and a tad bit reluctant on what he is told is actually true. However, it is gonna take a little while to make them to distrust those that they grew comfortable with. Yes, even if those people are criminals like the 'Purple Dragons Tech Club , or a greedy old mutant mantis like Repo.
— |☆| They might as well let curiosity come their way, which makes them wanting to learn more about stuff that they believe in, but most of time- when they do want to learn something about a belief, it's so they can prove others wrong.. although that's not the only limit to their curiosity, due to the fact that Tanner does have a keen for exploring new stuff- well, places and materials to be exact. Maybe even wanting more knowledge on a new subject they learned. Hm.
— |★| That does not apply to pre-made plans, as he does try his best to stick with them and if something unexpected happens that could potentially throw that plan out the window, he may become, erh, a little agitated.
 FOR THE POSITIVES:
— |☆| So, tying with their curiosity getting in the way most of the time, resulting into them keeping stuff in their mind about things and shit- Tanner can be aware of small, yet important details, which would be useful when it comes to changes such as if someone got a new furniture, if someone got a new haircut, if something in area has changed and ect. In a way, they are pretty observant.
— |★| With that- they can also notice pattern recognitions that just might help them predict onto what will happen next. For example, notifying themselves, along with others that a threat might be near, as well as recalling past negative experiences which would help them think on what to do to avoid said experience from happening again. So in sense, Tanner may be a bit self aware of his surroundings.
— |☆| Although, despite noticing Red-Flags about someone, he won't let that stop him from helping out those in need- or want that is. So, the times where he does pushes away his reluctance, is when he lets his more- altruistic side roll through him. Whether it be helping out a friend with a chore, giving money or food to a homeless man or supplying and delivering stuff to other people, despite them not having the best of motives, Tanner will do it.
— |★| Now, tying between, erh- his altruism and observation, Tanner can mix those two traits and up with having, erm, consideration for those around him. He gladly take subtle little notices to as to what the people around that the environment that he is in do, along with noting down other people's interests and pet-peeves. Now, he may just keep those things in mind, or use them to make someone's day. Or just to make em something. For example, if he wants to bake something for someone to him- and throughout their encounters he managed to learn that, well, let's say, the person has a specific preference when it comes to baked goods- he make sure to adjust the recipe that he is making to meet the person's liking. Or maybe even- taking mental notes on what to avoid during, well, doing favours for someone. They might ask for rules and clarification for the person's for wants, like, 5 times- just to make sure that they don't mess anything up. But I feel that that's just the bare minimum
— |☆| Though, he does make sure to pack necessary items to help him get the other person's wishes him to come true, such as: gloves in case he needs to do a job such as dish washing, laundry- or whatever job involves liquids, his backpack for pressure and storage, headphones to reduce noise and of course, his bunny mask for protection. The protection of his identity, that is. They feel that it's important to be prepared. Well, 'equipment wise', that is.
— |★| But, if he ends up not preparing for something unexpected- like I said, 'equipment wise', he may just use his brain and by that I mean, creativity, to try and solve whatever unexpected problem there is. Maybe try to craft up something that may help him. Though- their creativity isn't limited to just problem solving, as they use it to as well- spread ideas and concepts to their team or the people around them in order to better a situation of theirs. One of the members of the tech club is having trouble with concepts bout new inventions or their suggestions seem a bit blunt ? Tanner may just share some ideas of their own while at the same time, making sure to not discard the member's original idea. He put's his own spin to things, to cut it short.
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE/ APPEARANCE :
— |☆| Tanner, is 4'3 foot tall, 74 pound human- with a soft rectangular body type. Their skin is ivory pale and their face has chubby cheeks with multiple freckles on em, and they have dark brown eyes- like the colour of soil. Their hair is blond and even though it's soft and stuff, it's a bit of mess- since, they tried to cut it themselves multiple times it's just..not even. They as well dyed their bangs an orange colour, since they were influenced by two members of the Purple Dragons, aka Kendra and Jeremy, who both have dyed their own hair.
— |★| Now, as for their clothing style it is quite simple: As they wear a black turtle neck with long, puffed-up sleeves- which said clothing could be used as a pressure inducer with how heavy it is to Tanner's skin. Although, he doesn't mind it. The turtle neck as well, has a purple rectangle stitched to its right-lower sleeve, as it was ripped during a 'repossessing mission' by a stubborn and harsh client- and Tanner just didn't want to give up the turtle-neck. His pants are black and they as well have a white star pattern on them and along with their pants- they also wear a pair of brown boots that reach up their upper calf.
— |☆| They always, and I mean- always wear their backpack everywhere they go, similar to how Donatello always wears his battle shell every time he goes outside of the lair. Their backpack is brown and one of the straps has a small piece of yellow fabric stitched to it. Once again torn by the grip of a harsh client and once again Tanner refuses to give up his backpack.
