It's like nearly 7 AM, and I should be asleep, but I wanted to do some art fighting and then play Luigi's Mansion 2 more.
I'm at the final mansion and there's a few things I can say for sure:
The hate is overhyped. I get the complaint of Gadd chiming in too damn much, but I appreciate being able to tell the idiot no whenever you are replaying a level and he tries. But yeah. Dude acts like you don't know what happened when you just saw it happen, and it gets annoying.
The game just affirms my belief I don't care for Gadd as a character. I get his callous behavior is supposed to be funny but a lot of what he says and does really makes me grumble at his character. XD
Being able to bonk boos around when you catch them cracks me up, but I also feel bad whenever they make the sounds they do. I'm sorry, babies!
Fuck the ice boss. Fuck the ice boss. Fuck the ice boss... I need therapy after that. I don't care I beat him my second try. He still sucks.
LM2 by far is weirdly darker in my opinion compared to the other LM titles. The fact the Toads tell you they were being chased by boos and then everything goes 'black' when they get turned into paintings is like harrowing?? Geebuz, even I could only get so dark with that. Also the boos watching as the other ghosts are basically experimented on (tortured??) and make sure it goes as planned Is... Upsetting. X"D Dang, Nintendo really went there. And uh, King Boo really redid the final mansion, huh? And he put... legit torture devices in there like the Iron Maiden or was that always in there? Gadd said it was remodeled recently and now I've got questions as that could mean beyond the exterior..
I still want a word with King Boo about how strong he is if a dang dog can get out of Gadd's device but he can't. ą² ā•ā•®ą²
Honestly, I like it far more than I thought I would. I watched a lot of deep dives/ reviews on LM2 and not a single person I watched enjoyed it. So I was dreading I'd waste my money and not enjoy myself.
But it is far better than I expected. ā™„ LM1 still has my number one spot, but LM2 is not by any means low on my list of faves. ā™„

just finished www #23: on your way, and i have many thoughts. all of them make me want to cry.
ame knowing as soon as she got back to the cottage that her actions had burned a bridge, not just with the citadel but with one of her best friends, and yet still needing to complete her tasks as the witch of the world's heart. the spirits she awakens so as not to leave the cottage untended or unprotected, and the way she asks and does not take. the note she leaves, should her friends make it there.
eursulon in the fire, followed by the man in black, who is a brother in the way all spirits are brethren, but not the sibling eursulon seeks. leaving through the burrow, fighting monstrosities, and seeing the citadel raze cities to ruin beside a jungle of rot. finding the tree. his tree. the tree that is emblazoned on his shield, his coat of arms, what he fights to protect. and inside... his sister. a family she made for herself.
and suvi. hurt but still afraid that ame will die if she stays. determined to not let that happen. conversations with steel where she says that another wizard said that the wizard sly lied, or did not tell the full truth. commiseration, but suvi holds back the full truth, and suspects steel of doing the same. an airship to fly north. to protect ame, yes. but the mage armor mean that no creature or spirit or witch will ever be able to touch her again. broken trust, if not broken love.
and through it all, the thread that the citadel represents a threat to the world's heart itself, and to all spirits beyond. the council of elders wishes to neutralize that threat. grandmother wren did not.
questions moving forward: what is the true purpose of the war on gaothmai being waged by the empire? why does kalaya's family look like suvi? is suvi going to have a villain arc? i have my theories, but i'll get into those in other posts.
thank you to the worlds beyond number cast and crew for giving us this incredible story. i'm so excited to see where you take us next.

you know . i keep saying that iā€™m gonna make a post abt chapter 268 and i probably will as soon as i can get my thoughts in order but ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦. iā€™ve been thinking a lot about the conclusion to sukunaā€™s and yujiā€™s relationship . and even though i wish we had more buildup beforehand i do think the ending itself is really really goodā€¦. even if sukuna is technically yujiā€™s uncle, yujiā€™s soul still represents the soul of the younger brother sukuna ate in the womb, so for yuji to accept sukuna, to not curse him at the very last momentā€¦. it feels very . intentional. like the younger brother is forgiving the older brother for doing what he had to do to survive. sukuna rejects the forgiveness, which makes sense, but i wonder if he felt that way tooā€¦. that he was being pitied, forgiven, and loved by the first weakling he devouredā€¦ā€¦..
idk. they make me insane though

#@ comment directed to me in a tag. i have not talked abt them anywhere publicly but if u were deep enough in the paint in 2020ish theyre#like not super surprising. i think i wanna get back around to the trolls in my reread (so itll b a while) before i say anthing solid#just so i can go in w intent to pay closer attention again but like#overall have a low opinion on most the troll boys insofar as i see that the narrative seems to also not care for them. they seem to exist#to serve narrative purposes & end up discarded when no longer relevant. ie they dont end up very interesting and thus i view#many fans with suspicion when they have 'boys disease' ie having an outsized focus on the boys of the story despite hs being by the end#an extremely female dominated text with a lot to say about masculinity as an opressive force#tavros and gamzee are the biggest bugbears here (only really beaten out in eyebrow raising by cronus and the male dancestors)#on account of fans of them often downplaying gamzee's misogyny that is core to his role as a charismatic cult leader (or worse#sending trans women death threats when they made the factual assesment that gamzee was written to be a weird misogynist calling it#character assassination etc. man 2020 was wild.) tavros mostly just ends up being an accessory to this crime tbh. though his genuinely#complicated relationship w vriska oft being flattened to villify vriska + an inability to actually read what tavros Says...#like. if you get rid of tavros' quirk. stammering and all. and read his lines. he's kind of fucking rude? and yeah its alternia they all ar#but i have my hesitancies wrt how people seem to infantilise him (a disabled character) to the point of ignoring his dialogue and flaws#when one of tavros' core conceits (u can argue if this is . like. something hussie should have stayed out of. like its not their lane) is#that shitty ppl online will be assholes but will be allowed to get away with it due to unrelated disability. which like. it was 2010 ig#but this is hit upon again with mituna being distinctly a 4 channer with real brain damage and speech issues & all his friends letting him#get away with shit he still clearly has the cognitive capacity to know is wrong. its very messily handled but. i dont rlly like tavros ig.#will b amazed if tumblr doesnt eat these tags i went on wayy too long. but im not putting this in plaintext for obvi reasons#lucabytereads

My latest obsession
"It's said that people can never see their true faces. At best, they can see their reflection in the mirror, but there's no way for them to see their actual selves. So isnā€™t it illogical for people to compare themselves to others? In the end, it may be the case that only other people have the right to evaluate us. Perhaps all we can do... is hone our skills."

It took me about five years to realize that they had shot two versions of the Far Cry 5 live-action trailer ā€œThe Sermonā€. In one, they sing ā€œAmazing Graceā€, and in the other, itā€™s ā€œWe Will Rise Againā€.
By the way, thereā€™s a cinematographic detail in the second version that I really like; we can see the reflection of the ā€œlost sheepā€ in Josephā€™s glasses:

i think i finished tgcf
i say "i think" cause this book has the extras as well, but no specification when the book itself ends and the extras begin, so I'm just guessing based on this giant glaring equivalent of words "THE END" written in the end of the chapter i just read
anyway
good story, man, good story

Family Business by Jonathan Sims
Yet another book by Jonathan Sims. I would apologize, but I'm not sorry. This man is my favorite author and I will praise him until the day I die.
Rating: 10/10
Initial Thoughts: An awesome horror story that holds a profound message about grief, generational trauma, and societal views on importance coinciding with rememberability. It is filled to the brim with relatable characters while also managing to make them feel human. I can tell with this story that Jonathan has a bit of a style in making a slow burn story, meant to build up over time rather than throw the horror at you immediately.
Time to read: 2 1/2 days
Recommended for: Fans of The Magnus Archives, fans of horror, people who like a little gore, lgbt book readers, found family book readers, and slow burn horror.
Not Recommended for: The opposite of who it's recommended for ngl. And people who want smut in their books. There isn't even romance.
Spoilers ahead-
Overview: This story follows the character Diya just after the death of her best friend. She just got a new job in cleaning up dead bodies and is left feeling out of place within what is definitely a family owned business that hasn't had someone new in generations. This family, the Sloan family, is also grieving over their dead son. As the plot goes on, Diya manages to find memories of the forgotten members of society. By the end of the book Diya has managed to talk to the Sloan family members about the entity that seems to follow their business. And just what might be the cause of their brothers death. The end is gruesome and Gorey, and still very entertaining.
Analysis: Overall, this book has many messages. From grief and how one lets it consume them, to generational trauma in the form of monsters, this book has managed to reach my heart in a way not many have. All while hitting with the horror of being forgotten, truly and completely. The monster haunting the Sloan family has everything it needs to be a truly terrible force in the world. And yet the family bonds brought about, and the twist in how the monster is defeated with unforgotten memories is amazing. While We never find out just what the monsters goal was in terms of what it needed the strength from the memories for, I find myself not needing it. It's almost complete, in a sense. and the monster doesn't need a motive to truly be terrifying.

The reading comprehension devil is affecting the jjk community in such a heavy way I cannot fathom how people do not grasp the intent and meaning behind the choices being made in the story
