Because it was a long day at work, and I needed to keep myself from throttling my coworker, I decided to treat myself to a smol tarot deck today. A Steampunk tarot deck, at that! And what do I immediately look for? The High Priestess, of course! And I was not disappointed!

She looks like Ikkaku stole Sabo's hat.

Also the Queen of Swords looks like a royalty AU Ikkaku. At the very least, my girl wants that crown!

20 - Judgement

This is actually the first time I've drawn Azariel. Don't know if I've talked about it at all, either. It's one of @dr-darkwood s characters; an Android taught by the archons how to fight undead after being taken in (to it's total dismay) by the same angel that adopted my character, Zelrae (and also low-key being kind of abusive to her in their collective childhoods. It has a lot of feelings). I was told it's supposed to look similar to a porcelain doll with steampunky mechanical bits. I did the majority of the detail on the chainmail by hand, then went over the entire thing in grey, which took literally forever.

Anyway, guns are hard.

Actually, this is one of the most complicated cards at times, when I get too stuck in my head trying to logic everything out. The Magician is easy to understand, but The High Priestess is almost maddening more often than not. It doesn't help that often society at large places almost no importance in intuitive wisdom. So it's often also difficult to learn to trust your own instincts.

The wisdom of The High Priestess is the kind you can't simply learn in a classroom or from a book. It's the intuitive wisdom gained from experiencing something and can't be properly quantified in any amount of words. It's more like music than just a little bit, at least as I understand things. And I have many, many thoughts and feelings about music.

Have you ever tried explaining the pure magic of some music to someone, because you simply can't stop looping for hours at a time? Only to never get the right words to the point of rambling? Because the truth is that it's all like trying to measure the span of the waves on a beach with popsicle sticks. You'll never truly be able to do it.

The High Priestess is an emphasis on feeling to understand something. Even The Magician isn't just books and studying alone, but The High Priestess dives all in with feeling over intellectualizing the experience. It's the trying to quantify the whole reality of the wisdom into defined and fixed terms that gets you stuck. It just ain't gonna happen, pal. At some point, you kinda have to accept that concrete empirical evidence isn't everything, even if you don't believe in spiritual or religious things. Emotions can't be understood intellectually alone, either, or a person's will.

Our Magician is the kind of person who can pick up and master any instrument with enough dedication and practice. He can use his studies and training to compose new, and quite enchanting music that will blow others out of the water. He knows all the things you're expected to as a musician, and then some. There's never a time he doesn't weave magic into the heart of a song, and it's what puts him in a class of his own.

But our High Priestess understands the music at a deeper, far more emotional level. If The Magician is the one who mostly follows the established rules of composition, she's the one who creates more out of what feels right, even if it breaks nearly every long-established rule in the book. And it's very likely that even she can't even totally explain how she does it. She just does, and it's exactly that simple in her mind.

Beginning my morning introspection tarot readings. 💕 I figure sharing them will help me form a habit while I drink my coffee. Instead of just sitting around in that annoying morning boredom. Definitely won't be just my Steampunk deck, of course. Different days will see a different deck.

This is basically an expanded (near) past, present, (near) future reading. I read the placements from top to bottom, with each column being read together, like a story.

This is a general reading about myself, but if you find something for yourself, then great! 😸

(Near past) Three of Pentacles, Eight of Pentacles, Nine of Cups: cooperation with others and myself, with hard work, focus, and an eye for detail, for the emotional peace I always dreamed of having.

(Present) Four of Swords, Five of Pentacles, Seven of Pentacles: currently taking a break from things (especially mentally), to focus on material stability like finances, and taking the time to appraise my efforts thus far.

(Near future) XIII Death, III The Empress, XIX The Sun: something that has run its course will come to a natural end, and a new creative project will be born, which will bring so much joy and fulfillment.

Final thoughts here, I guess. You have no idea how many times I've drawn the Five of Pentacles. It's one of those cards that just loves to show up. Like hello, I know money and resources are a thing I need to sort out.

It's kind of funny that each of the near future cards are all Major Arcana. It really gives me the impression this isn't going to be just some small thing going on.
