There are two things that really piss me off about the archeron's sisters and it is not because of them. I found it crazy that the three sisters are always compared. With their trauma or their personalities whereas the bat boys never are. I never see someone say that Rhys' trauma is truer than Azriel's. That Rhysand is traumatized because it was his fault but not Cassian's. But this kind of comment, I see it with the Archeron's sisters.
And I'm not talking about the fact that you may prefer one sister more than the other. It's really: I hate one (or two) sister(s), so I have to insult her and compare her to the others to prove that the one I love is better and we've been through worse than the one I hate. Those who hate Nesta invalidate her trauma and compare it to Feyre's one to prove it. And some others can't figure out that the king of hybern is dead thanks to NestaĀ ANDĀ Elain.Ā BOTHĀ killed him. But it must be the war to prove who killed him more than the other. Tf?!
The second thing that annoys me is that they're never going to be able to really say what they really think because that can sometimes (often) make the IC look bad and that the author can't afford it (especially not with her precious Rhysand).
Exemples :
ā€£ Nesta insults Rhysand in her head, but must absolutely say afterwards that despite everything he is such a good man and a good leader who would do everything for his people. How can Nesta know if he is good or not with his people, firstly and secondly why would she think that? Rhysand has threatens her and leads her badly with the IC since her arrival in NC. She has the right to insult him, that's normal. But no, it is absolutely necessary to show that it is good despite of everything. So we can't have Nesta's true thoughts.
ā€£ Feyre can't actually say what she thinks about what Rhysand did to her utm. She also can't think that the IC hiding from her that her pregnancy is dangerous and that she was going to die was wrong. the intention is good, so we forget. Even though Feyre has said several times that she hates being lied to and hiding things from her. Imagine learning that for 9 months, your so-called family is near you and mentally preparing that you are going to die while letting you believe that everything is going to be fine and that the future is going to be magnificent. Are you going to tell me that Feyre - FEYRE - let it go?! It's not Feyre really, it's the author. So we can't have Feyre's true way of thinking. Because the IC (Rhysand) must look better above all.
And it's sad because never one of the three sisters ( or other characters) will point the finger at the IC that what they did to Feyre is terribly wrong. Nesta has even beenĀ PUNISHED for revealing it.
When Elain's book comes out, we'll never really know what she thinks. She never gonna said that locking Nesta in a house was wrong because that would mean that the IC did something bad. She will never admit that she maybe does not like living or being in NC or that she would rather live somewhere else. That she doesn't like the way the IC infantilizes her. She's never gonna think what the IC did to Feyre was really wrong. Because all that would make the IC look bad and the author cannot accept it.
the Archeron sisters deserve an author who will let them be their own characters and let them have their real thought.
And the fact that the three sisters will never have a real relationship. A good one because every time they get close the author has to erase everything and make things worse is my nemesis.

i have been thinking about rhy$ putting that shield around feyre
okay, right off the bat, if tamlin had done the whole bubble trap thing to feyre, the fandom would have had issues. i could stop here.
alas, i will not.
this whole plot point is particularly worrying for f3ysand because of how important physical freedom and autonomy is to feyre. i mean, itā€™s a massive part of her character arc/story!!
itā€™s like rowan calling aelin a monster after she confides in him about chaol saying the same thing! (iā€™m not a chaol hater donā€™t worry xxx)
acosf displays multiple violations to feyreā€™s very valid boundary by rhys4nd himself. (shield and lying about the baby.)
and for those who say the bubble was not limiting her freedomā€¦
feyre says herself on page 129,
ā€œheā€™s a pain in the assā€¦ā€ ā€œā€¦i havenā€™t figured out how to BREAK FREE of itā€¦ā€ ā€œā€¦rhy$ is perfectly happy to leave it on.ā€
look, i donā€™t even like the girl that much. BUT, feyre did not enjoy being trapped inside. she was actively trying to get out, but rhys4nd was HAPPY to keep her in it.
do with this information what you willšŸšØ

People supporting Feyre's decision to lock Nesta up in HoW shows how much they choose to be ignorant.
Feyre says she loves Nesta and cares about her well-being. But honestly she still harbours deep resentment and internalised hatred towards Nesta.
She apparently forgives Nesta. Still, she sides with Rhysand to imprison her depressed sister when their reputation is on the line? She could have suggested she and Elain stay with Nesta the whole time. Or if it was that necessary, she could have imprisoned Nesta with Morrigan or Amren instead.
Instead she's fine with forcing Nesta to stay with Cassian. There's no exit. There's no other woman in the house except for the priestesses who never leave the library. Nesta has to stay with two men. It wouldn't matter if they are men of the best character because she doesn't know them, they are not even her friend.
Which woman would ever lock up another woman in a house with a man who clearly wants to have sex with her? Which woman would subject another woman to this, let alone her own sister? Unless she hates her so, so much. Most women wouldn't even then.
This is not romantic tension. This is not cute. This is not healing.
This is straight up torture.
BTW in traditional romance novels, if a guy suggests his partner lock up her sister because he is embarrassed by her, he'd be the manipulative ex who gets dumped by act two. But a lot of you are not ready for that talk yet.

šŸ–¤ Lady Death šŸ–¤
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sweet lady Nesta reading her academic book; strictly for educational purposes. She values knowledge; as we all do šŸ‘€
ā—‡If I were in Prythian Iā€™d immediately try to weasel my way into her circle.
ā—‡I cannot go a day without reading before getting in or out of bed. Itā€™s like my daily coffee. And if anyone disrupts my reading, I become grumpier than Amren.
ā—‡(My friends again took over and gave Nesta a makeover. I actually had to limit them because trying to take suggestions from like 5 people got too crazy)
ā—‡Also trying to draw in +30Ā°c weather in an old European apartment with no AC. Iā€™ve already begged my friends to put me down like a suffering animal
Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy šŸ©¶

The whole argument about how ā€œRhys is supposed to be morally greyā€ would hold a lot more water if Feyre and Cassian werenā€™t constantly yapping about how great he is
And you know what? Even Nesta isnā€™t immune from the letā€™s suck off Rhysand party
Tumblr media
The idea that SJM tore down Rhys to prop up Nesta is so laughable. You guys are SO close to getting itā€”You can see him mistreating her, but you want to either dismiss it as bad writing or ā€œheā€™s supposed to be morally grey,ā€ when itā€™s literally spelled out for us thatā€™s not what SJM wants you to feel.

Isnā€™t it funny how Nestaā€™s fans were just whining about how this fandom treats her and how people ā€œstrip away her dignity as a womanā€ā€¦just for them to turn around and call another woman a fucking breeder?
And you still wonder why people donā€™t respect her or her fans. Itā€™s because a lot of you reek of misogyny and you think stanning a generally hated female character will cover up the fact that you spread the same misogynistic beliefs that you claim Nesta is a victim of.

'The text clearly says Nesta is abusive because Feyre heard her voiceā€”ā€˜
Listen if the narrative says something remotely close to Nesta making Feyre feel bad it's not that hard to latch on and make the worst of it as if itā€™s impossible to question the narrative itself. Which is what we're SAYING. Reading feyre act like that is unserious to us not everyone and thatā€™s fine because we know what it's like to have siblings who we'll trash talk to but also idk maybe go follow them to the end of a magical fairy wall should they happen to be abducted? Kinda like Nesta did? And still not act like the trash talking traumatized us like that? So stop quoting the story as if thatā€™s not what weā€™re actively criticizing?
And then SJM contradicts herself when she tried to push this idea that Feyre ā€˜wasnā€™t perfect eitherā€™ and that ā€˜bothā€™ were shitty to each other but then she also tries to not uncover her poor outlining from the first book where she made the sisters ā€˜the wicked sistersā€™ by throwing in measly lines about Feyre hearing Nestaā€™s voice. So unreal to me. Iā€™m sorry go ahead and be upset about it but I will never take it seriously.
Like in an alternate universe how stupid would it be for there to be a some measly line thrown in about how much it affected Nesta that Feyre thinks she's evil because she acts like their shitty mom. And so therefore Feyre is abusive. Thatā€™s all it would take, one line to be published on ink and paper by SJM, for it to be true and verified. Yea no, Iā€™m sorry we are allowed to question things that donā€™t make sense to us.
Even if I chose to follow the text so religiously then Iā€™d still make my peace with the whole mess since the sisters ā€˜made upā€™ because no Nesta wasn't as 'abusive' and even SJM herself tried to sell off as.

Nesta Archeron deserved better, and I will die on that hill. Was she a mean older sister? Yes. Does she deserve to be held accountable for that? Absolutely. But that is something that should have been handled between the Archeron sisters.
The truth is, they all had issues they should have resolved together. Elain also did nothing in the cabin, but because sheā€™s sweet itā€™s okay that she also didnā€™t hunt. Feyre told the IC the bad things about her sisters, while leaving out the good parts. She also was the reason they ended up in the cauldron. Nesta shouldnā€™t have been so bitter and cold to her family, she should have shown her love better. Not one of them was perfect, but Nesta is everyoneā€™s target because sheā€™s not sweet and submissive.
They all have stuff to own up to, but they should have done that together. And the IC targeting Nesta, especially after Feyre tells them to stop is bullshit and my girl deserved better.
The poor girl didnā€™t even get an ā€œI love youā€ in her book. Instead she got a man who seemed to hate her and want nothing to do with her, and when sheā€™s broken suddenly he loves her because sheā€™s not fighting him anymore.
Nesta went to the wall to rescue Feyre. She fought in a war. She killed a King. She was expected to heal in such little time when Elain was given months, and still isnā€™t completely healed. She was told not to drink and sleep around, when it is said in the books how the IC handled their first war/battles, and how they cope with their trauma. And again, itā€™s okay for them, but not Nesta. Only when Nesta gave up her powers was she ever welcomed in their Court.
So yes, I will die on the hill of ā€œNesta deserved betterā€. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

I HAVE TO RANT.
The only series of SJM I can ever read is TOG (Throne of Glass) and that's it.
That is the only one of her series that has the best worldbuilding, plot twists, romance and characters.
ACOTAR RUINED fantasy novels for me and not even in a good way.
I mean, in a bad way, that I can't pick up a fantasy novel anymore, in fear that it'll be like ACOTAR.
Yes, I used to be a sweet summer child who thought ACOTAR was amazing, Rhysand was so romantic and Tamlin was a tool.
I was the tool.
I'm now in college and I read ACOTAR & ACOMAF & ACOWAR last year.
I stopped after ACOWAR because NEVER FUCKING AGAIN WILL YOU CATCH ME READ THAT SERIES.
I can't even begin with the non-existent lines between misogyny and romance and hypocrisy and the lack of actual world-building and how I NEED to drag the Archeron Sisters FAR FAR AWAY, YES ALL THREE OF THEM.

Youā€™re telling me you Nesta was kidnapped to go and survive in these Hunger Games where she has to find her 2 friends and climb a deadly mountain while everyone else is either hunting you or are trying to kill each other for a whole week without food and weapons. They are fucking relying on rabbit and water from a river for a week straight.
Then she and her friends make it to the mountain and Nesta holds the line fighting against those males so her friends can go on top of the mountain and win ( and prove to everyone else that they are in fact āœØbetterāœØ)
AND THEN she gets kidnapped again by this wicked old queen who is trying to have her kill her own mate ( mate that she only recently accepted even after saying he was shackled to her). Instead she erupts on the whole continent to save her mate and herself and she UNMAKE someone. Keep in mind the last true meal this girl had was like a week ago. Girlie has been through IT.
AND THEN her sister is dying because the child she carries may die because they donā€™t know C-sections in the NC. You can heal wings and put back guts inside but they draw the line at baby delivery šŸ™ƒ
She then decides to wear the 3 items of Death together (nobody has ever done it and lived) and STOPS TIME to save her sister, her brother in law and her nephew. She gives up most of her power ( which were GODS POWERS) girlie has made a bargain with the Cauldron plus she has The Mother on speed dial. Tells her sister ā€œI love youā€ for the first time in her life. Feyre is the first one to ever hear Nesta say those words. Not her mate but her baby sister
ALL THIS IN ONE MORNING
And some Antis have the nerves to say that itā€™s not enough, Nesta should apologize more. It was the bare minimum to save the sister that kept you alive after all those years hunting in the woods. They expected more and Nesta should spend the rest of her life on her knees trying to make amends to the IC.
BE SO FOR REAL RIGHT NOW

I couldnā€™t reblog this normally since I have the og poster blocked, but this is a pretty common sentiment in the community that I want to put my comment on:
Tumblr media
Now Iā€™m not gonna sit here and argue that there arenā€™t people who like Feyre more in the first book and consider her to be ā€œbetterā€, because people do, and I think itā€™s valid to think that as well as valid to not think that. To clarify I think neither, but more on that later. This is also a decently long post, I tried to make it concise but itā€™s anything but that šŸ’€
I think comparing her character in the first book to her sisters (this post is specifically Nesta, but Iā€™ve seen it done with Elain) is purely made in bad faith. Equating them in this manner blatantly ignores the obvious differences in characterization and nuance in their writing.
It is widely known that SJM has said that Elain and Nesta were just made to be caricatures and cartoon evil sisters and that she didn't initially plan for them to become anything more than background characters. They were meant to be flat and evil, because thatā€™s all the purpose they had at the time. They were there to give Feyre a hard time and make us sympathize with her, and they did that.
No one is saying that that itā€™s silly to get hung up on Nestaā€™s actions because they ā€œhappened a long time ago and she had developmentā€, theyā€™re saying that because her actions were literally meant to be cartoonishly evil and not to have any actual depth or reasoning to them.
However, Feyre at the time was still a fleshed character that was supposed to be in the spotlight. Her character traits and depth were continuously shown off, whereas her sisters only existed to give her a backstory and struggle. Her character in the first book cannot be written off to the same degree as her sisters, and itā€™s false equivalency to think that it can be.
At the time the way Nesta and Elain was written was fine, but in deciding to change them to be actual characters with thoughts, feelings, and backstory, Sarah majorly fucked herself over. This is why she had to retcon things and add their own struggles later on and why youā€™ll see a lot of people defending them for their cabin actions; and as a side of the fandom who take her retcons as canon, you canā€™t pick and choose which ones you donā€™t want to take as canon solely because they change the your notion of the character. Itā€™s a packaged deal, either youā€™re down with SJMā€™s narrative and story, or youā€™re not (Iā€™m not), because guess what? The other characters around said character will also comply by these retcons.
But when you hammer it down so hard that these girls are horrible people in the first book because you couldnā€™t give the time of day to make sure youā€™re actually creating a cohesive storyline, rather than just trying to push out a character for people to immediately sympathize with, itā€™s hard to rectify that, and I often find it the mark of a bad writer (and poor planner) regardless if you werenā€™t planning on ACOTAR being a series.
I 100% understand Nesta hate, itā€™s hard to change your idea of a character when youā€™ve already been made to dislike them and like the character they initially antagonized. If she, or any other character, is not your cup of tea, thatā€™s fine. Like what you like. Hate what you hate (assuming you stay in your lanes and tag correctly, which many of you do not do, and instead tag specifically to push your anti content into pro spaces and make people mad, but thatā€™s a different topic) u, this circles back to my original point that you cannot equate the validity of the characters and writing of Nesta and Elain to Feyre in the first book.
Now do I agree that Feyre was her '"true self" in book 1 vs the others? No.
I think a lot of people, and a lot of antis, earlier Feyre lovers, and probably some of my mutuals, will disagree with me on this, but Feyre's character progression has always made sense to me. That's not necessarily to say that I like it, but considering her circumstances, the people around her, the environment, and her own personality and beliefs, her change and progression from ACOTAR to ACOSF makes total sense to me. I do think there's some inconsistencies, and I definitely think thereā€™s a lot of situations where ACOTAR Feyre would react differently than later Feyre, but thatā€™s just a product of her being a character with an arc and overall I can understand how she got from point A to point B.
I won't get into the details here, but if anyone's curious on why I think so, Imk, l'd love to talk about it
Thereā€™s also a good chance that the original poster of this will try to argue my way directly from my account, which is weird because I have you blocked, so I wonā€™t see it, nor do I care toā€¦ so donā€™t? Idk man, save your energy, the stalking is crazy

A mini fanfic of what I wish Cassian would tell Nesta, post HOFAS bonus chapter.

Of all the things that could have happened Nesta did not expect a red-headed alien, with an eight-pointed star on her chest twin to the one stamped across her own heart, to completely change everything she knew about her worldā€”about life itself. That there were other worlds out there, with powerful beings that walked between them, leaving a path of death and destruction in their wake.
She had never expected other planets full of fae, let alone humans, to be hunted and brutalized, to be turned into a source of food and entertainment for intergalactic parasites. It was for the sake of the humans that she handed over the mask. She couldn't bare the thought of them at the mercy of the Asteri, with nothing to defend themselves, so she made the choice to help the female who called herself Bryce, and loaned her what might just tip the scales in their favour.
And then Rhysand and Cassian found out. She didn't care that Rhysand was upset with her, for she could scarcely remember when the high lord was not. It was Cassian's reaction that ate at her. He was furious, even more than Rhysand was.
She remembered Ember's horrified expression when she quipped Rhysand might execute her for her alleged treason. Rhysand wouldn't, of course, if not for Feyre and Cassian. She supposed Ember didn't understand her particular brand of dark humour, and she'd had to promise her that she was safe, that there was no impending execution to be had. The silver lining to it all, however was watching Ember Quinlan, a human woman, hand Rhysand his own ass, something not even Amren had successfully done.
It had been days since she and Cassian spoke. Once again they were fighting. He was angry that she had done the unthinkable and given a trove item to a prisoner. And she was livid that he had taken Rhysand's side in all this. That Rhysand would have preferred her to kill Bryce before handing over the mask.
She had not been this enraged since she had been locked up in the House of Wind and carted off to the Illyrian mountains. She was not some simpering female to be ordered about. She understood the consequences of her actions and decided if the people of Midgard were not safe, then no one was safe. The threat of the Asteri would have eventually reared it's ugly head upon Prythian and enslaved them all. She had seen what one of them could do, in the prison, she couldn't imagine what a host of them might do if they got their hands on Bryce and ripped open a portal to their world.
When Bryce appeared she had no time to do much else but offer the mask, it was a fleeting moment, a wrinkle in time and space and then Bryce was hurtling back to her world, gone before she even had time to blink, the portal winking out with her, leaving her parents as collateral. Those days with Ember had been everything to Nesta. She was the mother she never had. Warm, loving, understandingā€”so unlike the one who birthed her.
During those days Ember and Randall were the only two she had the heart to interact with, other than Azriel. She and Cassian were not talking and it began to show. Ember was the one who brought it up. Said that it wasn't healthy for them to avoid eachother like this. She had Randall talk to Cassian about it as well. She supposed they were right, how many more days could she lock herself up in her room. How many more nights could she sleep alone?
That was when the knock came. And the house, the traitorous house, opened it's doors to reveal Cassian. She didn't want him to see her crying, to see her weakness. She sniffed back tears and seethed, "go away."
ā€”ā€”
Cassianā€™s hazel eyes locked with Nestaā€™s, two endless pools of blue grey. Eyes he could get lost in, that could drown him in their depths. Something fractured in him as he watched a lone tear trickle down her cheek, escaping that carefully constructed mask she always wore.
Their bedroom was littered in piles of discarded books. Some half opened with cracked spines, shoved to the side ranging from smut to battle strategy. Steaming mugs of tea and trays laden with truffles and petit fours were scattered across the room. As if the house was desperate to comfort the female standing before him.
ā€œIā€”I am so sorry.ā€ He said. His voice low, cracking. It was not the only thing that cracked.
ā€œThatā€™s not enough.ā€ She said, in the ghost of a whisper.
ā€œNestaā€¦ā€ Cassian said, his voice strained, as he lifted a hand towards her. She flinched, backing away.
ā€œPleaseā€¦ just talk to meā€¦ tell me what to doā€¦ā€ he pleaded.
ā€œIā€™m so tired of this. Iā€™m so tired of everyone telling me Iā€™m wrong, of having youā€”the one personļæ½ļæ½my personā€”doubt me," she said, swallowing deeply, as if there wasn't enough air in her lungs.
"How could youā€”?" she breathed, feigning her head to the side, as if trying to hide that thing inside that threatened to burst. Her eyes turned silver, not with flame, but with tears. Tears that would devour him and her. That would devour the world. Cassian would rather have been burned by that unholy fire he'd seen in her eyes. Would rather be turned to ash, a thousand times over, than see those tears falling from them.
As if sensing the onslaught, a soft, cotton napkin materialized in Nesta's hand.
ā€œI knowā€”I know.ā€ He whispered as he watched red splotches spread across her face while she shuddered and heaved. The navy blue drapes unhooked themselves, sliding across the brass railing to cover the bay windows overlooking Velaris, as if to conceal the crying female from any potential onlookers flying by.
ā€œYou know what the worst part of it isā€”I donā€™t think you know what it is that you did wrong,ā€ she faltered, wiping her tears on the cloth provided to her by the house.
ā€œThat you think I did not consider your soldiers, your brothers in arms, who might lose their lives if a war came here. I did consider it, I thought of everything. And all I could think of was about someone like my father, who wouldnā€™t stand a chanceā€”"
"So I gave them a chance.ā€ She choked out, ringing the cloth in her hands. "I gave them a chance," she repeated.
ā€œAnd I took one too. But youā€”you couldnā€™t take one on me.ā€ She faltered. As each word landed he felt those threads between them slacking. As if their very souls were unravelling.
Something inside of him felt like it was drowning, as if wave after wave were crashing down on that thing in his chest, beaten and battered. Threatening to drag him in the undertow of the storm he was facing.
ā€œLet me make it right. Give me that chance I should have given you.ā€ he pleaded.
ā€œThatā€™s not enough Cassian. Itā€™s not enough and you know it. I refuse to be second when I put you first.ā€ Something flickered in her eyes before quickly sputtering out. He promised himself then and there that he would never let that ember inside of her die out. That he would spend his life dedicated to kindling that fire. That he was a mere shadow that could only exist in the presence of her flame.
ā€œI once told you I have no regrets in my life. Well I was wrong. I regret ever hurting you, ever causing you a moment of pain, ever doubting you. Not putting you first. Because I was afraid. Afraid of disappointing people. But you're the only person who matters. And I will spend whatever time I have left in this life showing you that, if you give me the chance. And if thatā€™s not enough I will keep on trying. As long as you let me."
ā€œWhy now? Whatā€™s different? Whatā€™s changed?ā€ Nesta narrowed her reddened eyes. ā€œArenā€™t you sick of being shackled to me?ā€ She squared her shoulders, her eyes turning into two silver slits, giving him that "I will slay my enemies look" that nearly had him falling to his knees.
ā€œThe thought of living life without you is unbearable. Without you I am nothing. It's why I was so angryā€”I was thinking about you. Of losing you. It wasn't just about the last war. It was about what would happen in this one. All I could think of was you throwing your body on top of mine and nearly dying. Andā€”." The words tumbled out of him, erratic and desperate.
"And what a world without you might look like. So Iā€”I lost my mind." He said, his voice thick, eyes pleading.
"Nesta, being your mate is the greatest honour of my life. And I am sorry that I have ever made you feel otherwise."
The space between them waned, and the room somehow became smaller, as if the house was closing the distance between them.
Cassian slipped Nestaā€™s hand in his and slowly lifted it to that shattered place upon his chest. ā€œYou are my everything Nesta Archeron. You are my soul. My heart. My life.ā€
Clutching her hand to him, he lowered himself, until he was kneeling before her. She could feel his heart pounding, her own beating to the same chaotic tune, as if each pulse and each breath was taken together.
ā€œI love you.ā€ The words spilled out of him. ā€œI have always loved you.ā€
Somehow he gripped her hand even tighter against his chest and she sunk her nails in. It felt as if she was holding his heart in her palm. Perhaps she truly was. And he just held her hand there, as she marked him. Five crescent shapes imprinted on him, dotted in red, from the base to the apex of his heart, her signature, her claiming.
ā€œAnd I will always love you.ā€ He breathed, his eyes wet, his face lifted up, meeting hers.
ā€œI love you too.ā€ She whispered, voice hoarse, as she grabbed at his chest, now pulling him towards her until there was no space left between them. Until their lips were crashing against one another, breathing the other in. And those golden threads began to weave themselves back together until they shone, forming an eight pointed star, a guiding light, their compass home.
"You're lucky that I believe in second chances." Nesta said, a slow smile breaking across her face like the sun peaking through the twilight sky. And it was all he needed before he met her smile with one of his own, before he pulled her down to him, until they were flush against eachother.
"I am lucky,ā€ he whispered in her ear, his breath hot, mouth hungry, as he traced his lips along the curve of her neck, ā€œthe luckiest male alive.ā€
